Good afternoon, I'm Kate Kopadich in the TV Six Newsroom with your on-the-go headlines for Friday, August 9th. A woman was hit by a car Thursday night in Dubuque. According to the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office, around 9 p.m., a woman was injured after she entered Highway 3 to help clean up debris from an earlier crash. After entering the road, she was hit by a car. She was taken to a hospital for serious injuries. The Sheriff's Office says the investigation into the incident is still on-going. TV Six will continue to provide updates on air and online. Charges have been dropped in connection to a shooting in downtown Davenport. According to court documents, charges were dropped against Treveil and Pugh and Sylvester Staples in connection with the shooting death of a man in 2023. Pugh and Staples were arrested in July on murder and other charges in the death of 34-year-old Dimitri Martin in downtown Davenport. Court records show on August 2nd, an assistant Scott County attorney filed a motion to dismiss, saying further investigation was needed before continuing. The case was dismissed without prejudice, which means it can be refiled in the future. Pugh is still in the Scott County Jail on an unrelated theft case. Looking ahead to this evening, Genesis Home runs for life returns to modern women parked tonight to honor Nathan Postain, a 12-year-old from Durant. Nathan is a patient at Genesis Outpatient Pediatric Therapy for his cerebral palsy. The ceremony will be held during the second inning of tonight's River Bandits game. Well, Day 2 of Tugfest continues in both Aquarium Port Byron. Tugfest is a bi-state tradition that's been going on for the two towns for years. The event runs through Saturday with bands, carnival rides, and fair food, all leading up to the main event, a tug of war across the Mississippi River. The tug will take place on Saturday starting at noon and going until 3 p.m. Port Byron will once again be looking to defend their winning title. Taking a turn to weather thanks to a cold front, we are a touch cooler this morning with a high pressure moving in, expect plenty of sunshine with temperatures in the low to mid 70s. With clear skies expected overnight, temps will once again drop into the low 50s and even upper 40s for some. Get ready for one of the nicest weekends of weather we've had in some time with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 70s and low 80s by Sunday. Our next weather marker arrives Sunday night with a spotty shower or a storm chance. Temperatures rebound back into seasonal territory as we head into next week. That wraps up your on-the-go headlines for Friday, August 9th. In the TV6 Newsroom, I'm Kate Copadage.
