We are the center. ♪ Glory Hallelujah ♪ - Welcome to the Reformed Reckoner on Eschatology Matters, part of the Fight Laugh East Network and now available on Boniface Media. This is where we reckon the news of the week with Scripture rather than taking our cues from the news. This week, I want to talk about June. It is the time of the year that global companies virtue signal their support of the death court that is LGBT. Side note, here's what these same company logos look like in the Middle East. This might tell us a little something about the fall of the West and why Christian nationalism may not be a bad idea. But beside all the virtuous signaling of corporate America, there is a real, portrait and religious war that becomes very visible every June. There is a fight to win the life and soul of the West. But instead of focusing this June on all the problems we see in our world and trust me, there are plenty, I want to spend this week's episode on some good news. According to Gallup's most recent values and beliefs poll, this is the second year in a row of a decrease in the validity of same-sex marriages among Republicans. Now, this may not seem like a major win, and it really isn't, but it does signal an awakening to the evils of homosexuality and the slippery slope that has led to so much open wickedness. What's more encouraging is the significant drop in the moral acceptability of homosexuality among Republicans. The fact that a majority of Republicans considered homosexuality morally acceptable in the years after the Obergefell decision shows the power of politics on culture. A praise God, there seems to be a surge of moral clarity in the recent years. Our next story is a good example of the good we can do when we exert some corporate power. For the past few years, tractorsupply has been veering off into woke territory. As a company focused primarily on serving rural America, it surprised many when filmmaker and conservative commentator Robbie Starbuck exposed some of tractorsupply's more progressive activities. These included promoting PFLAG, a LGBT group that supports sex changes for kids, pushing pride month celebration on their internal employee app and making DEI a core strategic initiative. As all this came to light a strong conservative pushback for tractorsupply to focus on their business, led to them issuing a statement walking back their progressive actions. Here are some of the highlights from that statement. We have heard from customers that we have disappointed them. We have taken this feedback to heart. Going forward, we will ensure our activities and giving tied directly to our business. For instance, this means we will further focus on rural America priorities, including ag education, animal welfare, veteran causes and being a good neighbor and stop sponsoring non-business activities like pride festivals and voting campaigns. Eliminate DEI roles and retire our current DEI goals while still ensuring respectful environments. We will continue to listen to our customers and team members. Your trust and confidence in us are of the utmost importance and we don't take that lightly. But perhaps my favorite story from this month comes courtesy of Michael Foster, pastor of East River Church and co-author of It's Good to Be a Man. On June 1st, he tweeted this. All right, it's June. It's one of my favorite months because it's 30 days of fatherhood. Let's get started with a video on the glorious work of fatherhood. - Yeah, fatherhood's work, a lot of work. Early mornings, late nights, always fixing something that's broken, sometimes breaking something that's fixed. You can get tired, a little grumpy. That's why it's good to step back whenever you have a moment to remember that your work is glorious. Your work makes their memories. Your work shapes their future. Your work provides for them. It protects them. It gives them an example to follow. For your work, God makes boys and the men and girls and the women, the work of a dedicated Godly father echoes throughout the generations. It is far reaching work. It is glorious work. So keep working away, man. It's good to be a dad. (gentle music) Now that's how you assume the center. There can be good work done by attacking Pride Month directly, as we saw earlier, but by presenting a positive message, instead, we can reclaim the narrative. And here's Michael Foster describing why he's making June 30 days of fatherhood. - So in June is supposedly Pride Month, like some people say, hey, we're gonna claim this month, but I don't care what those people think. They don't tell me how to spend my time. So I figured, you know, June is when we have Father's Day and everyone else is gonna talk about all this wicked, perverse stuff, even in opposing it, you're allowing them to pick the topic and call an attention to it. And I'm sure people did some really good work opposing, you know, the sexual morality. But I'm trying to build men up. I'm trying to strengthen men. And one of the biggest problems with homosexual men in particular is that they have a bad relationship with their father. So if I wanna undermine Pride Month, one way I can do it is by undermining the sin of homosexuality, by strengthening men to be good fathers. But also there's just a lot of guys that grew up without dads or the dads kind of abdicated, their dads weren't Christians, and they need encouragement. So I wanna, if you want courageous men, you have to encourage them, give them courage. And so here's a bunch of stuff on fatherhood that hopefully is helpful to you and your work as a man and as a father. - This June has come and gone, yet the battle still rages on. Our constant comfort is that Jesus really did win down here. He truly died and is risen. He has triumphed over the rulers of this world. So don't let our enemies define our calendar or our message. We are the center. Hate what is evil, love what is good, proclaim the risen and victorious Christ.
