Hello everybody out there in Disc Golf Lane, I'm your host Martin Stock and welcome to Disc Golf Daily's Tournament Primer for the 2024 LWS Open at Idlewild. In the next five minutes we're going to cover everything you need to know about the upcoming Elite Series event which runs August 9th through August 11th. For this episode we're moving east from Peoriaeta, Burlington, Kentucky for the 2024 LWS Open at Idlewild. Frank 22nd on you Disc Idlewild is rated a 4.8 in one of the prettiest natural courses on tour. Run by Tournament Director Adam Jones this year's event projects over 6% growth and player participation from 143 to 152. The last year's pro purse at $93,600 this year's purse is in contention to break 100k. Previous winners. Last year's FPO winner Valerie Mandahano pocket at $7,000 finishing 9 under against a median field rating of $939. Unfortunately Valerie won't be defending her title this year as she opted out of this year's tournament. On the NPO side Ganon Burb brought home $10,000 shooting 32 under or against a median field rating of $10.17. The weather forecast for Friday shows partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid 80s with wind moving north at 11 miles per hour. Saturday and Sunday however promises sunny weather with temperatures in the high 70s. The competition. On the FPO side the feature cart for day one has Inn of his own scoggins, discrafts Missy Ganon, teammate and last week's winner Holland Handley and dynamic discs Raven Klein. Now onto the NPO. On the NPO side day one's feature cart had dynamic disc Ricky Wysock in his first tournament back from Europe, crowd favorite Inn of his Kevin Jones, last week's winner Discomating his Ganon Bur and teammate Kyle Klein. Finishing holes. The par four 487 foot hole 15 has a wooded dog leg right fairway to a partially wooded green. With 48% of the field birding this hole last year it's birdier die. The par five 969 foot hole 16 has a narrow open fairway that leads to a wooded green behind water. 71% of the field recorded a birdier better last year with 13% scoring an eagle. The par three 287 foot hole 17 has obi water that winds its way through a wooded fairway to surround a wooded green. Hole 17 is his picturesque as it is treacherous as a bogey here could cost you a stroke against 83% of the field. Hole 18 is a par five for FPO and a par four for MPO. This 650 foot hole challenges players with a tee shot through a narrow wooded fairway to an open landing zone with a green protected by two guardian trees. Hole 18 is the toughest hole on the course and has seen several lead changes in its history. Where and when to watch. The disc golf network will be providing live coverage of the event starting at 9.30 AM Eastern for FPO and 3.30 PM Eastern for MPO. If you can't watch it live, Joe Mass Pro will be providing next day post round coverage. And if you can't watch, remember Disc Golf Daily's Monday Tournament wrap up will have you covered. That's it for this episode. Stay tuned for next week's episode when we head further east to Lynchburg, Virginia for the PDGA World Championships at IBM.
