tomorrow as well so many birthdays David I hope your six-year-old birthday is amazing my friend and Josiah Josiah sorry if I'm pronouncing that wrong Josiah who recently turned six as well happy birthday sir and a big happy birthday to Jamison who is turning nine on August 12th just a few days away happy early birthday to you and Jamison has our joke for today which goes like this what do you call a scared bird this is Jamison's joke he's turning nine on August 12th what do you call a scared bird and the answer is a chicken haha yes a chicken because chickens are we think of people being chicken if they're scared so great joke Jamison thank you for that and today's story was inspired by a listener named Rowan who is eight years old and he loves you guessed it playing hockey and it was a crisp winter morning in Gator Grove and froggy the Gator was buzzing with excitement he had been looking forward to this day for weeks the day of the big hockey tournament froggy at his friends mr hummus worm bird tomato hedgehog and terra terra daxle had formed the team called the Gator Grove flyers and they were about to face their toughest opponent yet the hockey master gersh wins the froggy gathered all his friends at the edge of the frogan frozen lake where the tournament would take place the ice shimmered under the bright sun and a light breeze rustled through the nearby trees all right team froggy said holding his hockey stick confidently this is it we've practiced hard and today we're going to give it or all remember it isn't just about winning or losing it's about playing as a team and having each other's backs mr hummus who was usually a bit nervous about big events nodded with determination we've got this froggy he said as long as we work together I'd know we can do it just then they heard the sound of skates slicing through the ice it was none other than the hockey master gersh ones led by gersh one himself froggy stuffed alligator who had magically come to life for the hockey tournament behind gersh one were several more gersh ones all wearing matchy matching hockey jerseys and looking ready to win welcome gator growth flyers gersh one said with a mischievous grin we're excited to play against you today but be warned we've been practicing our slap shots and puck handling skills all winter long froggy smiled back we're ready for you gersh one let's have a great game with that the teams took their positions on the ice the referee was they imagined a friendly polar bear from the nearby arctic wildlife reserve and the polar bear blew the whistle to start the game the puck dropped and the match began right away it was clear that the hockey master gersh ones were a skilled team they passed the puck with precision precision and speed making it difficult for the gator growth flyers to keep up gersh one scored the first goal within minutes sending the puck flying past warm bird who was trying his best to guard the net the crowd made up of friends and family from gator grove cheered loudly for both teams but froggy could tell his team was feeling a little bit discouraged he skated over to mr hummus who was beginning to look worried don't worry mr hummus froggy said putting a reassuring hand on his friend's shoulder it's just one goal we'll get it back remember what we've practiced stick together have each other's backs and keep moving forward mr hummus took a deep breath and nodded you're right froggy we got this we can do this the game continued and this time the gator growth flyers played with renewed energy terra terra dactyl user wings to glide across the ice intercepting a pass from one of the gersh ones and sending the puck into the ring to froggy froggy quickly passed it to tomato hedgehog who was positioned right near the goal take the shot tomato hedgehog froggy shouted and tomato hedgehog who had a keen eye for scoring aimed carefully and slapped the puck with all his might the puck zoomed past the gersh one goalie and weigh on right into the net the gator growth flyers had tied the game the crowd erupted in cheers and froggy's team gathered for a quick huddle that was awesome tomato hedgehog worm bird said flapping his bug wings with excitement we're back in the game yeah great shot terra added now let's keep this momentum going momentum is everything and the game went on both teams were playing their hardest the gersh one scored another goal but froggy's team didn't let it get them down they passed the puck they supported each other and they defended their goal with everything they had with just minutes left in the game the score was tied two to two the tension was high and both teams knew that the next goal could decide the winner gersh one determined to lead his team to victory took control of the puck and skated down the rink with incredible speed he dodged past mr hummus and terra heading straight for the gator grow flyers goal froggy could see that worm bird was ready but he also knew gersh one was a skilled shooter he had to think fast just as gersh one was about to take his shot froggy skated in from the side and tapped the puck away with his stick not so fast gersh one froggy said with a grin the puck slid across the ice where it was picked up by terra she quickly passed it to mr hummus who then sent it over to tomato hedgehog and with only seconds left on the clock tomato hedgehog aimed for the goal and took the shot the puck sailed through the air and for a moment time seemed to stand still everyone watched as it flew toward the net past the outstretched glove of the gersh one goalie and into the goal go froggy and his friends shouted in unison as the crowd erupted with applause the gator grow flyers had won the game they skated toward tomato hedgehog cheering and laughing as they celebrated their hard-fought victory gersh one skated over froggy and his team with a big smile on his face great game gator grow flyers you really played your hearts out there today I'm proud of you all thanks gersh one froggy replied shaking his friend's hand you all played great too it was a tough game but we never gave up and that's what made the difference as the teams gathered for a group photo daddy the gator who had been watching from the sidelines walked over and padded froggy on the back I am really proud of you son daddy the gator said you show great leadership out there and you all work together as a team and really that's what hockey and life is all about froggy beamed with pride thanks dad it wasn't easy but we knew that if we stuck together we could pull it off the end
