This is the Canucks Central Post Game Show. >> Huronac chops it deep for Besser. Passes right corner for Patterson. Take use with room middle of the ice. He scores. Quinn Hughes from the high slot, rifles it past. Aiden Hill. The Conoc captain has his 13th of the season. It's a power play goal. And Vancouver takes a 1-0 lead. >> And Vegas was giving him that shot, so he took it. >> Here come the Canucks to the Vegas line. >> Oh, glad we're getting to the slot, was tripped by McNabb. He just had to throw some to the goal. He scores. Filled he just sent me off the right wing, snuck it along the ice between the legs of Aiden Hill. And the Canucks capitalized. >> With instant reaction from the players and coaches. >> Now, a handful, mere corner for Alex Patrangelo. Not the boards for Nicholas Law turned it over, and the slot comes to Lynn, home with a high shot. Stop, rebound, they score. Connor Gerlin dicks it home on the backhand. And the Canucks go up three to one. >> Have your say on the official home of the Canucks. >> Sportsnet 650 and the Sportsnet Radio Network. >> Canucks sweep their three-game road trip with wins over teams. Like the Kings and tonight's the Golden Knights. Three-one victory, and this is the Canucks Central Post Game Show presented by the number five orange on home here at Canucks. The Canucks stifled the Kings tonight, Biknazar. >> Golden Knights? >> Sorry, the Golden Knights coming off the win against the Kings. And they played some big boy hockey tonight. They were contesting plays all over the ice. They were playing physical hockey. They weren't overwhelming in terms of crashing banging out, physicallying them, but they were there in every battle, winning a ton of puck battles, constant pressure all over the ice and stifling hockey. That was a really impressive performance. >> Yeah, I mean, how many regulation wins do they have against Vegas? I think this is only the second, or third, third, third. >> And yes, that's huge. >> And the Golden Knights are going through, they were saying the worst stretch of franchise history. They're two seven and one in the last 10 games, but the Canucks, of course, were just all over them tonight. >> Yeah, and that third period, that's what we want to see. Shorten the game, make as difficult as possible, just chipouts. You got a two goal lead. Do what you need to do to get out with the win. And they did that. That was an incredible third period for the Canucks. Again, they absorb pressure, but what did they really give up? And you play this clinical road game and you walk out with two points on a perfect road trip against team that you really need to beat. You really need to show that like, hey, these types of games, and I get it, they're going through their slump, but you can't pick and choose when teams are hot, but that's a big win. >> A lot of people have been saying, how are they going to fare against the better teams, heavier teams, strong teams like the Kings and the Golden Knights? Well, they fared well these last two games. Let's bring in Randy, Janda, into the combo and Randy. I mean, overall assessment of the 60-minute effort, what do you think? >> Yeah, it was a 60-minute effort. It's exactly what you want, starting off this game, getting that 2-0 lead. And Vegas did not look good in the first period, but later on, they picked it up. Even at the end of the first period, they start to add a little bit of pressure. And the Canucks really coped with it well. And guys, I thought if you start looking at where the shots were coming from, for Vegas, it was just a great job by Vancouver to not allow anything from the middle of the ice. And there's a couple of looks here and there. There's no doubt Vegas, and whether it's Barbershev late, where there was a couple other moments where they were unable to hit the net. But to me, I thought Vancouver played an excellent defensive game where you start looking at where the shots were coming from. They're coming from the corners, they're coming from the point. Even the one goal that ends up beating Thatcher Demko from Imadio, that's one that goes off Ian Cole, who doesn't have a stick at the moment. And it's a unfortunate deflection, but that's it. And that's what Vancouver was able to do today, where, hey, the effort, winning puck battles all over the ice. That's what it comes down to. If you win those puck battles and defensively, you stay within your structure, you can do that to good teams who I know have been struggling in Vegas Golden Knights, but it doesn't matter. They had, they were trying later on in this game, and they just could not break into the middle of the ice or the guts of the ice, as Rick Talkett calls it. And I thought it was a strong, strong effort. Yeah, a lot of tech's coming in right now. People are just kind of echoing the same sentiment. Three goals against on a three-game road trip. It's playoff style hockey you want to see this time of year. And they play that perfectly here, Randy. But it felt like this is them getting back to who they were in December, in January, when it was so strong. For sure. And you know, what's different now is that they don't need to put up four or five goals. Like they were running away with the goals four per game lead at the beginning of the year. Now it's back to back to one game. You get another one, that's three-one, and it's defensively there. They're starting to get back at where they were early on. And you know, one area and pushing the shots to the outside is one thing. But it felt like, you know, maybe not necessarily the shot block numbers because those weren't through the roof, but there's some timely blocks. But there's sticks everywhere. It felt like Vancouver was playing a very similar style to what Vegas was doing last year, getting in the lanes and, you know, sticks on everything, stick on puck all over the place. So yeah, this was a, this was an effort and these last three games, I think the Anaheim game, we were kind of took it with a grain of salt because let's be real Anaheim has been a team that struggled this year. But when LA, you know, who had beaten the Vancouver Canucks pretty handily, five-one last week, when you take care of business against them, you get that victory, that's a check mark to say, all right, better defensively. And another one where they were just so strong, I thought, you know, the final 20 minutes, that that was probably, you know, Rick Talkett's just like, all right, when I talk about structure and staples, that's exactly what he's talking about. Absolutely. And I think this is the type of game, guys, where you see the value of having Miller, Pedersen, Lindholm and Blueger down the middle, having those four guys being able to go head-to-head and grind against this Vegas Golden Knights team and hold their own and also win their match-ups. And we're waiting to see Lindholm, you know, really show his value and, you know, the production tonight gets an assist, makes a great play at the Blue line to keep a puck in and Garland does the rest with great hustle to knock the puck in. But, you know, you look at the template of how this team can be successful, while rolling out four lines like a win their match-ups is how to do it. And they did that tonight. For sure, it is. And the opposition matters because Vegas has been that team in the past. Jack Eichl, you've got William Carlson and you've got Nick Wah, who, under normal circumstances, maybe gets pushed down to the fourth line, but still a quality player that would be playing on most third lines across the league. And when you're able to play a game like that and win your battles, and really, I know Jack Eichl later on in this game as the Canucks started to kind of maybe sit back a little bit more and Vegas started to push. He gets his look, but guys, through 45-50 minutes of this game, that first line for Vegas didn't really get much of anything. And that speaks to the impact at the top three centers for the Vancouver Canucks had in this game. And I think Lindholm, I do want to talk about him a little bit because he's been a topic of conversation in this city just a little bit. But, you know, that play at the Blue line, the awareness, he's always been pretty good with his stick in the neutral zone and keeps that in the zone. And even though his numbers are, you know, one assist, 15 minutes of ice time, 15-16, it was, do you notice him when he's on that third line? I thought, you know, him and that group was really strong. Him, Connor Garland, Vasily Pod Colson, and, you know, credit to them because they're showing you, okay, maybe this experiment can work. It's a playoff style game. You're going to need some depth down the middle. And today he showed that against some of the better teams in the NHL, you know, having him on the third line, it could be a huge benefit for this team moving forward. Canucks managed to get a goal on the rebound with Connor Garland and not to predict what Rick Taco will say. But I imagine he might discuss like how few or how frequent one-in-duns were for Vegas in the offensive zone for them. And Thatcher Demko, a big part of that, you know, absorbing a lot of the shots and just how they boxed out. You mentioned the structure that, like, back to the Rick Taco staples in this game and this entire road trip. But I imagine that's going to be a big part of it, too, how they protected those on rebound opportunities. Yeah, Thatcher Demko, hey, you know, when the rebound was there, it was not sitting there for a long time. I think there's maybe that barbersheft chant late in the game that really is the only one that there was a rebound that was in a dangerous spot outside of that. The boxing out was great. And some of those saves tonight, guys, reminded me of what Connor Hellebuck's been doing in Winnipeg this year. When we go back to Connor Hellebuck in previous years and Thatcher Demko as well, there's a lot of, you know, side to side, a lot of East West, you got to kind of go from one side of the net to the other side. And when you have good structure, you're just making those saves that are popping into your glove or, you know, there's a deflection that comes off a stick and it just kind of flutters your way. That's exactly what happened with Thatcher Demko today. And, you know, he made some good saves. But also at the same time, when you start looking at that shot number of 27 saves, a lot of, we're of the easy variety. And that's a credit to the guys in front of them, whether they were just able to box out or whether they, they were able to get sticks on the puck or, or, you know, at the very least slow down and maybe funnel where the shots were coming from. I thought that was a very important part of today's game where, you know, left or right point, sure, maybe the half wall, you're getting a little few more shots as well. But that was a credit to the way that they played and the way that they're, you know, I think they're probably playing their better, best defensive hockey in the last couple of games here, just the way it seems so controlled. And you've got this, you know, kind of the sandpaper element to them where when they lean in, when they're playing winning battles and they're playing to this level, it's, it's funny how you go and lose, you know, six of seven games. But when you turn the corner, you're playing some really, rehearsals essentially from playoff hockey. And, you know, they're looking good right now. So, against Boston, they lost the first game. They end up winning against LA. They lost the first game. They end up winning the second one. And Vegas, I know they played in November way back when, but the second time around Vancouver takes care of business. I'm picking up a little bit of a trend here. Maybe, maybe we'll see a certain effort against the Winnipeg Jets too. Yeah, especially considering what happened the last time those two teams met on a hockey night in Canada game as well last time around. Now the three score lines in these three games, two one, two one, three one, three goals against and three games. You know how we saw this team be so prolific earlier this season when these high scoring swashbuckling games and, and yes, I mean, they have that in the repertoire. But as you get down the stretch, one of the things that that I wanted to see from the team and as much as it's boring, can they really win low scoring games? Can they play low event hockey, play playoff hockey and win? And hey, the Ducks game, lower event game, of course, not a great opponent or whatever. But you know, only allowing three goals in three games and barely giving up scoring chances outside of a few mistakes here and there. Defensively, they've been stout and how much does that coincide with having Carson Sousie back in the lineup? Yeah, it's big, right? It just provides balance to the back end, which is something that we were, you know, talking about not being there and whether it's, you know, the PK or five on five, but just the way he's able to break up plays, just the way he's able to, you know, we talk about boxing out tonight, guys. That's a big part of Carson Sousie's game. He's a big man. He's a guy that's a very smart defender and he's able to box out. And this is not solely on Carson Sousie, but when you get a key piece back there who is such a solid performer, it certainly helps. And you mentioned the last three games. I think the last two, especially when you're able to hold a team like L.A. who does have a transition attack. And I know they, you know, they sit back and they're one three one was a talking point after the last game. But, you know, this is a team that can also put up goals. We've seen that, especially with their, their high flying line with Moore and, and those guys. Yeah, they were held to what three high danger chances by the Vancouver Canucks over 60 minutes, five on five. Today, Vegas, who's got Jack Eichl, who's got Marcheso, who's got, you know, some really good players in their top six, they've got, you start looking at that back end with Noah Hanif and Shay Theodore and Alex Petrovangelo. The Canucks only gave up four high danger chances over 60 minutes and five on five play. That's telling you that. Yeah, there's an impact there. I would say Carson Susie certainly has a lot to do with it. But this is also attention to detail from the group. They knew they were loosening up some of their details. They weren't playing the tightest defense of hockey and you get a couple of practices in you. You can refine those details and we're seeing it pay off. Now you just wanted to continue here against the Winnipeg Jets and the Colorado Avalanche. 650, 650. A lot of thoughts coming in about Carson Susie and saying, hey, the stretch here is coincided with Myers also being out of the line up here as well. That's a bit harsh. That's a bit harsh. Poor Tyler. Yeah, it's been harsh, but nevertheless. They've played some of their most low event hockey, honestly. And again, a few mistakes have happened. A couple of two on ones here and there these last few games, but it's really few and far between. No, it's been, it's been tidy, really, right? And that's what you want against the really good teams where they're going to pick you apart. And we've talked about it before. We've used the analogy, but you know, are you going to blink first in the staring contest, right? And that's where I think these next two more games, especially against two teams that are duking out for the top in the central, it's going to be really, really important. So yeah, it comes down to discipline. And I'm not talking about penalties. I'm talking about in that moment, are you able to make the right play? Are you going to be able to, you know, save your team or cost your team? Or at the very least, not cost your team, right? Just make the safe play. And I thought there was one moment where it was must have been in the second period. Connor Garland, there's a potential two on one. He's about 50 seconds into a shift. And I feel like the Vancouver Canucks, maybe at the beginning of last year or a certain point last year, Connor Garland might take that and say, you know what, who cares if I'm 50 seconds into a shift? I'm going to go for it. But what do you do there? You basically, Connor understands where he's at. He doesn't want to take a chance. They're up to nothing. And there's that awareness to say, all right, we got a bigger, you know, bigger game to play here. I'm not going to be chasing points or goals. We're up in this. And that's the maturity you need as a team. So I think it's a defensively for sure guys, but there's also an understanding of what it takes to win for this team, which we've started to see, you know, early on this year, but they've got it back here against LA and now Vegas. And of course, the Anaheim game. Well, Seth, there was a play you were mentioning to me as well, where the puck was kind of coming out of the zone, but easily would have been kept in by Queen Hughes. And the recognition of, hey, the forwards have been up there for a while. I'll just take this one out of the zone. We'll keep possession and we'll fight for another moment rather than me just pinch, knock a deep and everyone goes changes. Yeah. And those guys got off to a change. Guys get on fresh. And it's just, and yes, maybe you throw the puck and you win it. You can do it on the fly. But what if you lose the puck? Now those guys can't skate backwards. It was just a really high intelligence hockey game, I thought, from the Canucks players. And you, Bick, you also mentioned tonight, puck on stick numbers for Queen Hughes, his possession metrics. It was lower. Yeah, lower than usual. This game was really about quick on and off the stick, get it down the neutral through the neutral zone, get into the offensive zone and try to forecheck. And they did that very effectively. It was playing to win tonight, Randy, rather than, you know, we're just trying to get points. Yeah. And we mentioned this too of like, Hey, your structure will create the offense for yourself, right? Play the, play the game correctly and your moments will come. Well, they end up taking 35 shots on goal. So, it's more than Vegas. We had 28 and then tack on another 27 attempts as well. So, the opportunities were even there for them. For sure. And I, you know, you mentioned about the, just playing quicker up through the neutral zone and chasing down the forecheck. I thought that, that second goal of the game as well, where Noah Julesen just makes a simple play up the boards, right? Making it playing fast early on in this game was the key for the Canucks, where they were, they were, yeah, a speed or two, I think faster than Vegas. And that was an element of that, right? Whether it was Neil's Hoaglander winning that battle in the neutral zone leads the PDG goal, whether it was, you know, later on in the game, whether it's Connor Garland or Elias Lindholm. So, yeah, they were, they were in a situation tonight where you said it exactly when you said they were playing to win. Yes, this, this kind of felt like a team that did their homework, understood what they needed to do to win this particular matchup. And what excites me about that is that's a very playoff style approach, right? Game to game. And we can't say it until this team makes the playoffs. We can't say it until, you know, Rick Talkett and the staff are adjusting from game to game, you know, seven game series, because that's very different of 182. But it felt like they had done their homework. They were ready to go. And they knew how to defeat this team. And you saw that and the players executed that plan perfectly. So I think this was a, if we want to, you know, we've used this word often, especially this year, but a very, very professional game from this team, they had a name, they executed perfectly. Final one before we let you go. Vasily put Colson. Third game. What'd you think tonight? I thought that line. And, you know, when we were talking about Ice Time in the pre game, it was what? 917 in the last game. He gets an uptick yet again. And you know what I liked about his game, guys, where when you're a young player and maybe you don't, you don't have the most confidence. And we've talked a lot about the four check. But when the puck was on his stick, he wasn't rushing play. Oh, yeah. He was just hanging onto the puck to find the right spot. And it wasn't like he was getting caught. He was, you know, finding the space on the ice to get to that spot and dump it in. I love those plays because it shows me he's much more confident than he was last time out in the preseason last year. So those simple plays were picks up the puck in the neutrals and rather than neutral zone. And rather than rushing the play, guys, it was, all right, I'm going to get it to a spot. And then at that point, I'm going to advance it either make a pass or I'm going to dump it in to make the safe play. But I have time and I'm going to use it. Randy, great stuff tonight, man. And we look forward to chatting with you coming up very soon. All right, boys, big see you tomorrow. Absolutely. All right. Yeah, he's he's everyone's all hands on deck together. United. Get some sleep. Go get some sleep, Randy. All right. That's Randy. He's already gone to bed. That's Randy Jen. I call on the game alongside Brandon Bachelors. Three one Canucks win sweeping their three game road trip. And the goal score is tonight. Man, Fieldie Giuseppe gets a game winning goal and we had some debate whether he meant to shoot it, pass it, whatever. Doesn't matter. It finds the back of the net. And the first goal gets scored on a five on three. I mean, what was really fascinating about this hockey game, Vic, was the Canucks had the four minute double minor that they benefited from. Renewal's Holdman are taking a high stick from Anthony Manta. Now the first three minutes of that power play was dreadful. I mean, they had the first minute. They couldn't even get into the Vegas Golden Knight zone. Very frustrating. Could barely get any shots on goal. And then a scrum and sues and it's Pew Souter crashing the net. Him and Patrangelo, you know, jousted out. Those guys are getting, you know, roughing for Patrangelo. Souter gets a slashing call and then Colosar jumps into the play late. Like already when it's going, he kind of comes in from behind and it was starting to die down. Yeah. And he jumped and grabbed somebody from the back and really escalated this situation. It wasn't the worst thing, but it was laid enough that officials will usually call that. They gave the call to Colosar. They get a 14 second five on three. And well, the first chance doesn't happen, but Heronic dives through a puck along the board. It's not dives, but like goes towards her gets it, keeps the puck in cycle behind the net. Next thing you know, she was just a shot that beats aid and Hill. He scores a goal. Besser and Patterson get the assist on that one. We mentioned a PDG goal, Hoglander and Jules and get the assist on that one. And then man, the third goal, it's just like we mentioned, a bit of a fortuitous bounce, but a bounce, Lindholm makes a great play at the blue line. Garland finishes it off, but it wasn't a game where you're talking about, you know, tons and loads of these scoring chances, you know, high skill plays being made. It was a gritty, tough, hard fought contest where they had to fight for everything they got tonight. Same thing for Vegas and the connections just, I hate to simplify it as much, but they really just wanted it more, I think, in many ways than the Golden Knights did. And that's something at times has waned in the Canucks game the past 14 games, 15 games since the all-star break. And they really brought it against a really big time opponent here tonight. Huge, right? Absolutely huge to play like this in that environment in the game. You know, a team you'd expect to be desperate a little bit. Do they get a bit of a jump from Manta and Hanifen coming in? Hanifen wound up playing 21 minutes right away in his inclusion into the lineup. Fine. But I did think Vegas had a hard time getting a rhythm after the first, but then they had an opportunity in the second, right? You thought towards the end of the first, it started, you know, putting the pressure on it. I thought they had their two best chances at the end of the first period, the two on ones that happened, because they scored the goal in the second, but I don't think they created too much quality in terms of scoring chances. The best chance they had, I think, the two chances they had in the third were off a couple of scramble plays, Barbershev had a couple of chances where we used to play where Demko again, this is the thing we've mentioned, right? Hey, sometimes that your Demko comes across with a glove hand and preserves a result. Okay, that happens and it looked flashy the last game and it was unbelievable. But the save he made on Jack Eichol, it's so boring that it's, it's spectacular. It's just, it's a cross crease pass. It's a little slow to, to get to Eichol, but nevertheless, he gets it and it's cross crease, right? We know, we know the effect that has Demko's there well in advance and there's nothing to shoot at. Yeah, I mean, he's a wall, there's literally nothing to shoot at. And it's, it's those saves. Again, that's not some fourth line scrub. That's Jack Eichol. Yeah. The, the, the should be cons might winter last year. Well, and, and absolutely. So, I mean, everyone was really on point and Demko, I thought was spectacular as well, but the things that excited me watching this game and, you know, it's funny we're watching this game, but I got so excited by how they were able to get out of their own zone, fight for pucks in neutral zone, get them deep. And for a guy who's playing his third game this year, who's going to ups and downs now, visually put Colzen man. I mean, there was one playing particular in the third. They got hemmed in a little bit that line, but put Colzen wins a battle along the board, chips it out and then, you know, skates it out and then cross ice to cross ice, found the space, finds a space and then gets into the offensive zone and he hunts the puck down and there's so many other instances in this game where he helped get the puck out of their own zone, wins battles in the neutral zone, gets the puck deep and there's simple plays, right? Those are the game, those are the plays that win you games that keep you in games against teams like Vegas. And I thought that line in him in particular did that to a tee tonight. So there's that shift and these are the two shifts that I want to talk about, like that player just detailed there and the one in the second period where he gets his shot, but you look at that whole sequence of the play, Julesin makes a rather aggressive play passing up the middle, but it's the right play to make. Why? Because the silly put Colzen's there to show for it. And the pass he makes to Lindholm, it is crisp and it's fairly short distance, but he whips it to Lindholm who takes it really well. We don't talk enough about how good like pass reception is as a skill. Yeah, he's really clean. He takes it really well and he gets to the middle and slides it back to put Colzen who now gets that shot off that was fought off by Aiden Hill, but it's that play. It's like, I'm gonna get to the right spot. Yeah, it's an aggressive play, but I got the confidence to do this. I'm gonna take that pass. I'm gonna whip one into Lindholm. We're gonna break in. We're gonna get around barbersheaven. I'm gonna go get my shot off. It's it's those two shifts that you're looking at a guy in his third game this season who you know fights confidence. Those are the two shifts that really showed to me for put Colzen tonight. Yeah, no, he was terrific and he had one of those games where you feel very comfortable with him being the lineup and he's getting lots of love here on a dumbbar lumber tax sandbox 65650. This text message here says undefeated with pods in the lineup. Well, there we go. I lost that text. No, under undefeated with pods in the lineup, he played very well tonight all around great effort from the whole team. Hoaglander keeps finding ways to prove he's a genuine top six. Dempko is spelled V-E-Z-I-N-A. There you go. Another text for put Colzen from Nate and Comox pods with a 24% expected goals on natural stat trick. No way. My eye test lied to me that bad. I thought this was his best game yet and facility for Colzen getting a lot of love in the inbox today. Yeah, I thought Vincili was fantastic. A lot more reaction on the text inbox 65650. Carson Sousie is a real glue for our set of players, like a warm blanket in the storm. Does the blanket get wet in the storm? It's a warm. Yeah, it keeps you warm in the storm. Okay, so so you're indoors and you're fair enough. Fair enough. Yeah, fair enough. I wanted more details. I'm a big theater of the mind guy. Well, you want details? You're going to get some more. Let's go to the phone board 604-280-0650, the dispatch plumbing heating and air conditioning hotline. It is details on the line calling in from Nanaimo details. What's going on, man? Well, what do you have for us tonight? Do you guys just made up for what I was going to start with with that segue, okay? That's amazing stuff. First of all, guys, the other night I tried to get through to you. When are you going to stop doing math live on the end? Oh, my God. Well, we might be done. We might be done. It must have been very young and new boys's lives, but your parents knew there was no doctor in your future. It didn't take very long to figure that out. Yeah. Hey, boys, I've been keeping up with you, but I've been, well, not globe hopping, country hopping. I just finished a 17 day tour with exhibit across the country. I've been keeping up and listening. Oh, wow. You step of the way. And while we had busy nights and sold out shows, the Canucks looked a little tired up until these last three games. Just give me a bit of a leash. I want to hit on two things if I can. All right, last three games. Those are all playoff style wins. Yeah, the ducks are the ducks, but those are two games against teams we could very foreseeably see next month. The rest that they've gotten and the fact that they have taken the most flights and put the most miles on their body, it's starting to show there it was. I feel like we saw this real team in the last two days. Panic said in even for me a bit, after I'm all done, I want to hear your guys' reply on whether you guys had some worry and fear or you could see through that into being a bit tired. Now, real quickly, Tyler Myers, I've been in and out. How serious is this injury? Are we doing a Mark Stone? Keep him out till the playoffs, try to make some money happen, or is he actually hurt? Or do we get him back? And I just want one thing after that. But what do you think on Myers? So I think on Myers, he's probably going to be back in a week or so. Like, I don't think he's going to be out very long. He's not going to LTI on LTI already to save cap space. Final thing before I hang up, actually right now, as of seven minutes ago, my tour teammate, Terrell Safidi, just released the remix to Black Red Yellow. He'll be performing it live March 19 versus the Buffalo Sabres and can't wait to be in the building. I'll try and give you a slap in the elevator on the hands. Like, last time, Saf, we ran into each other. Right. Love it. It's all up. Stop doing math on the air. Let's stick to the playoff run. I love you guys. And May 9 or with exhibit in Vancouver at the Harvard Events Center. So I got tickets for you, boys. Let's go. Thanks, man. Appreciate it. That's details in a 9 more calling and getting the plug in as well. Very professionally done. You know, on, you know, Myers, I don't know if people are asking you about it too. And, and honestly, like the way they play the last few games, they have not missed Myers, I get it, right? Having the depth is good. But, you know, Noah Jolson tonight, and I think there has been, you know, recent some good, some bad from Noah Jolson, there was overwhelmingly good from Noah Jolson here tonight. And Carson Seussi looks very comfortable playing the right side. That is like an underrated thing, but he looks as good as he was on the left side. To be honest, you might even look better right now on the right. And it was like for minute one from Carson Seussi again, like the very first play of the game, he just calmly takes a shot off the backboards and passes it to space. No big deal. There's two Vegas Golden Knights there that maybe they can convert it a chance. And then he does this like fake Dedede pass and the four check pressure goes with that and it's like, oh, I missed that when I got to go skate off. And then he does do the Dedede passage. He was strong. Jolson though, the assist on the goal. Patterson wins a draw who, by the way, Elias Patterson tonight, I think it was above 50%. 50%. So he's 54%. He went 7 and 6. So that means now for the season, he's a 50%. There you go. Huge improvement for massive improvements up six points from last year. But Jolson, it just off the glass, I know, but it's a steady play to make this one go out. And I mentioned the pass earlier that he hit with put coals and he picked off a pass in the neutral zone. There was one on a play that maybe he and Hulklander can be a bit stronger on, I think it was Chandler Stevenson on his own entry. But aside from that, it's like, we're talking about one play for your number six D man, Noah Jolson tonight ends up playing 1540, throwing a modest two hits for Noah Jolson tonight. By the way, you know what led the way? Was it for the Huronic? For hits? No, I'm leading the way for hits tonight. Was it Patterson? No, it was J.T Miller. J.T. was tied with facility put coals and put coals in. Oh, right. Somebody texted in before the show today and said, well, can put coals and throw a hit? He doesn't have many hits. Well, he threw five tonight. Oh, he made up for it in a big way. But yeah, Noah Jolson, just another steady, strong performer. It's four block shots as well. Yeah, for Noah Jolson. Yeah, and it was a good performance. The only mistake I thought he made was there was on one of the two on one chances. Him and Hulklander go on the same guy on the long two boards creates a two on one. He's made that read. He's been over aggressive on that in the past. And that's something to watch for. But outside of that, there are times two where he takes what's given to him. There was a few times they weren't respecting him. They kind of played off of him. And he's like, all right, he just skates the puck up the blue line, throws the puck and chases it. And like, he's confident enough to be able to skate with it as well if guys give him space. And that play on the entry we're talking about, Rick talk had even mentioned that too, is maybe that's a communication thing. If there's talk and Hulklander supposed to get on the right side of Chandler Stevenson on that play. Okay, then you can be aggressive, because at least that guy's diving back into the middle of the play for you to cover for you. Both guys are on the left side of Chandler Stevenson trying to get that puck a little bit, but they both miss. And it just a drop pass by Stevenson to open up that opportunity. I think it was for Mather that wound up getting the two on one chance there. Yeah, it was Anthony Mather. Mather and Eichol had two on one chances both in the first and that was about as good as it got for the Vegas Golden Nice chance wise. The Canucks stifling tonight beating the Golden Knights 3-1 in Vegas sweeping their three game road trip. All right, I'll keep your thoughts coming in to our text inbox 65650. And also we'll hear from Canucks head coach Rick Talkett as a Canucks Central post game show continues presented by the number five orange. So the game is over, but as your night really done, the number five is open. More coming up next on SportsNet 650. Catch up on what happened in Vancouver Sports with Halford and Bruff in the morning. Be sure to subscribe and download the show on Apple Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. This is where you talk Canucks. You're listening to the Canucks Central post game show on the official home of the Canucks. SportsNet 650 and the SportsNet radio network. Oh, and if it may or corner for Alex Patrangelo. Not the boards for Nicholas Watt turned it over and the slot comes to Lynn home with a high shot stop. Rebound they score Connor Garland digs it home on the back hand and the Canucks go up three to one in the final five minutes of the second period after some poor puck management for the Golden Knights. And Garland digs it home for his 13th of the season. An active stick by a lies Lindholm is what creates this play at the blue line. Vegas trying to get the puck out of the zone, but a good keep by Lindholm who ends up making the play takes a shot and the rebound right in front of Aidan Hill. It's picked up by Connor Garland who deposits it into the net on the back handle. A lies Lindholm. Good active stick at the blue line creates this play and creates the goal to make it 3-1. Connor Garland puts this game away 3-1 for the Vancouver Canucks over the Golden Knights. And this is the Canucks Central post game show presented by the number five orange in the home of your Canucks sports in the 650 and the sports in that radio network. And that is your play of the game, Connor Garland making it 3-1. And I mean it's a great effort from Connor Garland to be able to finish that play off of course. But it starts with a good four check. A little bit of fortuitousness going in the Canucks favor. A puck goes off a figure which Golden Knights players skating out of the zone. And it's bobbling and coming out of the zone and then Lindholm makes a great play at the blue line. Now you know how you mentioned earlier Lindholm can receive a pass really well and he did and that's an underrated skill. He handles a bobbling puck with speed coming at the blue line cleanly not letting that bounce over a stick and then in stride hits towards the net gets a shot off and Garland finishes it off. But it was a great effort play show a little bit of skill but the determination you need in a game like this was all exhibited on that play. Certainly and Garland quick to it as well recognizing the space and the way he kind of hopped around Petriangelo just kind of cutting towards the net and there's the rebound opportunity and very quick hands for Garland as well showcasing his ability to handle a loose puck as well to get his 13th of the year. Yeah somebody texted in earlier I'm sorry if I can't give you credit for who you were I can't find me. A lot of text coming in and we love the text messages but he mentioned you know for all this talk about the Canucks needing size Garland and Hoagland are both guys played with a lot of tenacity tonight and this is a playoff type game big heavy team physical team and if you have some questions and I do have some questions about some of the size how the Canucks match up in the postseason this was a game both those guys came through in a big way. So that's not willing to work for the text messages I'll find it don't worry we'll make sure you get your let me search tenacity let's see if I can find it here yeah it's not signed how about that it's unsigned so I can't give anybody credit anyways but love the tenacity is what it says driving play 5-1-5 yeah all right have a couple text messages you want to get to me for this one I lost it another one no I just I'm stuck in the inbox right now all right here we go all right I was having troubles loading everything up here this one it's too bad Vegas couldn't dress LTIR to help them win tonight that's a good shout joke for 60 unsigned text here in the Dunbar Lumber text messages inbox this one just a really good game by the boys and some nice payback for the one earlier the season professional road win as the coach would call it McKayev flying around Lynn home at a nice game with their effective checking and it's nice to have Carson Sousie back yeah the Sousie love just keeps coming in six fifty six fifty and there was one I wanted to read here oh from bungalow Jim again more love for Ilia McKayev coming in yeah you look good tonight greed with putting them together with Miller and Bess or something we've discussed in the past nice to try it out and also nice to see McKayev having a good game as frustrating of a player as he's been this season I am rooting for this guy that's bungalow Jim coming in yeah we we have on on Lynn home to Marcus and Gibson's like how he looked excited to see Garland with Lynn home and Joshua potentially when he comes back I think that could be an option obviously Jason and co-quote love a lot of defensive play from the boys tonight tell me if I'm crazy but the eye test has seen Lynn home pods in Garland had some decent chemistry you're not wrong about that they did here tonight and Langley Joe also giving some love to Elias Lindholm who been the center of discussion here the last few days trade wise too even but where are you going to see its value tonight's one of those games where he played a big role and big value in a big win against the Vegas Golden Knights and showing why they acquired him and paying awesome dividends I think people weren't waiting to see as well all right we'll get to more of your text messages and the head coach coming up quickly but before we do that let's go to the foam board 604-280-0650 your toll-free 1-888-275-0650 on the dispatch plumbing heating and air conditioning hotline and let's go to Bella Bella where we have Don Don thanks for calling in what are you thoughts here tonight well hey there thanks for taking my call yeah I am really impressed with Lynn home lately I know he's not scoring but he's doing everything right he does all the little things right and I'm happy Alvin didn't pay for again so he's way too expensive I think they were asking too much for him why we didn't make that move and are they still in on to Foley or maybe just go for a guy like Tucker thanks hey thanks for the phone call I think they're still in on to Foley the question is are they going to be able to win the sweepstakes for to Foley and as we saw with against old deal the connects were in on it as well but for them to win or would have to beat the package Carolina ended up giving up for him they would have had to trade Hoglander one of their higher-end prospects and they weren't ready to do that obviously and that deal didn't come to fruition the question is can you make the Tefoli trade without having to give up at least one of those prospects as well well you're not giving up one of the Keramac year will enter no and then it's like they're gonna ask for Hoglander and okay you're gonna say no to that so then again it's like if the guys like put Colton who played well tonight have come up or rot to come up are those guys gonna be better than the prospects other teams have and that's probably where the connects have a loss that's how they lost the Carolina one those guys aren't as good as the guys that other teams had and that's where my my concern on the Tefoli front is if they're not willing to pay that price or first the types of prospects there'll be they'll be offering are probably not as good at some of the prospects other teams can offer so they're not favors to land but they're still very much in it and I do expect them to get some forward now Zucker he mentions he's also in the mix potentially as a guy they could add by tomorrow but obviously that is highest ceiling player as Tefoli I would have been okay with the Hoglander involved in a Gensil trade probably not so much in a Tefoli trade just because really liked how Tefoli but he's not as high or end as Jake Gensil is so now you're kind of stuck in a spot where yeah if somebody provides the best piece then you're probably gonna be out of it if LA is the one that jumps the queue and says all right we'll put up the best prospect or one of the better prospects we have and you're comparing it to your raw twos then you're probably in a different ballpark yeah so that that's where the issues may kind of reside in terms of landing a player like them but I'd love to see it and we'll see if the Canucks can pull it off you know Pouan asks any updates on Joshua I may have missed this I think just go to Joshua I would be surprised if you don't see him skating with the team next week pick like when the Canucks are back home here next week I would have surprised if you see Joshua skating with the team I think he's gonna be back I mean so it was state in February 13th right yeah so I mean we're basically at a month yeah we're pretty close and I think we're gonna see him skating with the team next week and hopefully we see him play maybe not obviously the Wednesday game but maybe by next Saturday we'll see we'll see I mean that that's a very rough timeline and giving you now we'll see I think hopefully some good news on him next week we're at three and a half weeks here next week would be four and a half so yeah that's probably if you marked it say like four to six of per any sort of hand related injuries yeah it's probably on the right wheelhouse yeah so hopefully we'll see him back here next week all right let's take one more phone call and then we are gonna get to the Canucks head coach and let's go to Edmonton where we have Mike on the line Mike thanks for calling in what do you have for us here tonight hey guys first time caller long time listener let's go rookie lap just here we go okay rookie lap everybody has the like they'll go with like defenders or like yep yep whatever you got man I'm gonna go the opposite direction I'm gonna go with wing Gretzky that's the ball let's go love it but the thing I want to discuss is something that we don't discuss on the show very often and probably for good reason but the the idea that we don't pick up sticks that like get lost along the half wall or along the endboards whenever somebody gets six flash out of their hands or whatnot it blows me away how many times people will spend instead of like having their teammates support them for like five to ten seconds while they go retrieve a stick they'll rather opt to like defend very poorly without a stick for the longest time possible and that's just something that I want to discuss because I think we're stuck in the dark ages and I just think it's something that could be approved over time in the NHL I'll get your thoughts on that voice hey Mike thanks to Volco good stuff hey making us think on the first call yeah I like it I like it so it's funny because you and I have actually debated this watching games before where it's like you're like why don't you skate to go and get a new stick and I'm like man I agree but at the same time if a guy goes does it all of a sudden throw off with the rotations do you create enough space that all of a sudden somebody's gonna be open in a grade a spot you know and I think that's the that's the that's the risk you have to weigh there are you willing to give up a grade a chance while you retrieve your stick in those like five to ten seconds I think it really matters like situationally like hey where are you on the ice are you the winger on in the first and third periods like you're not doing it at all in the second period no I went to the bench and coming all the way back you know doing that so can you quickly get there quickly get back the the one on you and cold today I was really surprised you just grab it because yeah it was it was around him but then he also he's he's pleading with the referee instead of just playing you know grab I thought he could have been a lot stronger on that play because Roy is going to the net and Cole's stick is just kind of just hanging around there and Roy's path to the net knocks it out there's nothing wrong with that play and there's a a stronger way to to get yourself free and make sure you're preventing a play towards the middle of the ice on a Mario and then he just winds up skating to the top of the ice and wasn't really effective at all but yeah you know generally speaking it's it's in real time because the the other four players aren't necessarily playing it like a pk yeah so if you break free to go get your stick the the initial players are way too efficient to just manipulate that as as harmless and as helpless as they look sometimes it's probably more effective it probably yeah because I mean you vacate space all of a sudden they'll pick it apart so fast and if you look at why the Canucks have been so successful so successful this year a big part of it is being the right spot and then not falling apart and one of the things coach talks about as if one guy makes a mistake the second guy can't make the mistake and then all of a sudden you're out of structure and then that creates you know the backdoor play you know the the cross ice pass and those are the things you're really trying to prevent you'll give the pressure you'll give the shots it's just you're trying to give away those sure goal chances and the chances of those occurring or more when a guy vacates or runs away to try to get a stick so I get it it's a tough one but it's a good call from Mike and made us think all right as far as thinking and thoughts go let's hear the thoughts of the Canucks head coach here is Rick Talkett after a 3-1 win in Vegas Rick only giving up three balls this entire trip how happy are you with the stingy defense and just the overall effort well I think this is a you know it's it's kind of hockey we like playing without the part that we got back to our identity the last couple games three games here I think we took one penalty at each game which is nice you know so all the areas that we wanted to shore up I get if the guys credit they they shorted up you know it's a tough building to play them didn't give them a lot and then when we did demo his air force talked about liking these tighter games and the two one wins the three one wins what does that do to set you up for success in the long term well I think I think it happens like when we did make a mistake I saw us hold the fort I saw some guys really buckled down and we didn't make that duplicated mistake I thought that was a big thing you know get this time of the year playoff hockey or whatever you got a really hang tough in those situations you know and I think we did you know it's it you know it's it it's one game we're happy with the road trip but you know we'll get day off tomorrow and we'll get right back at it you seem like there's a ton of room for them out there no I I didn't think they had a lot of room I mean we didn't have much I mean even a third we didn't get much either I mean that's a good team over there but I think we played a smart third period you know I didn't think we we're above them most of the night you know that's a dangerous team they're the they're real champions right so it's a that's a tough building to plan we think about mechanics game yeah I thought he played hard played hard I thought he was on pucks using his speed you know he's a little frustrated you know he did score that one but you know he's got to keep digging away that's all you could do I like this last especially his last five shifts there was some composure there when he had it where he actually held it skated out of our zone and got the red and got it in I mean sometimes usually you just throw it out and or you you know ice it or whatever and I saw some that's us some composure and that's you know he's getting some reps you're starting to play in some tight games and that's how you know you're going to get the experience by playing in those situations that's Canucks head coach Rick Tockett after a 3-1 win in Vegas against the Golden Knights and on put Coles and how the team played a cleaner game tonight and the shift we were talking about yeah getting pucks deep you know being able to get it out of your zone winning in the neutral zone winning war board battles I mean to me but the manner in which you got the puck deep it's one thing just a loose puck knock a deeper like okay that's fine the the composure that whole shift to navigate the neutral zone find the space let everyone get set and go retrieve your own dumping right that's fantastic it's fantastic stuff right and it's it can be boring but honestly that's how you win in the playoffs you know and we haven't seen this team in in the playoff game at Rogers Arena with a crowd and the pressure of it and I'm fascinated to see how they're going to hold up and how they fair in that situation but all I know is once you get there those are the things you have to do well and that's how you have to play sure we'll see some fun goals and some fun games but fundamentally if you want to go deep in the postseason it's about a clean game you can't make mistakes through neutral zone you have to be stingy defensively you have to be relentless on the four check you have to win board battles you have to be smart and that's how they play tonight and Vasily put Coles in for him to play on that line with Lindholm and Garland honestly I think he fared really well and again seeing Lindholm play the way he did with Garland and having put Coles in there too I think it showed you what what the value of having a player like him in that position is and all of a sudden we have Blue growing as you're on your fourth line as a fourth line center I think just that depth I think it just gives you a real chance in the postseason against teams like Vegas does complicate things though because you know as much as we could talk about this being a showcase it's a pretty big endorsement that he's playing well and coaches shouting them out there and those are shifts those are plays that will translate and it it tantalizes you it eases you with the prospect of what uh pulled Coles and could be because we mentioned like the comps for him for me down the line in the Chuchkin barbershev those types of plays those type of players those guys make those types of plays yeah well that's how they play and whether put Coles in can get get his pace up to the Chuchkin level whether he can get his finishing to the barbershev level if you get those to the barbershev level if you can get there there is potential an upside and barbershev took a while it wasn't like yeah you know it took him a while him too right so these guys take some time and you know you never know what the upside truly is but put Coles in fantastic stuff from here from him from him tonight in the Canucks win over the Vegas Golden Knights all right big let's hit the text in box 650 650 a lot of reaction coming in Renfrew Marco Crosby robust for the trade deadline I mean I got called out because we've been joking around about the Crosby stuff in terms of like where is it coming from because there are no Crosby rumors there's been speculation there's been you know obscure things but you got a quote tonight but he had a quote tonight he was asked whether this trade the Genssel trade told him what the plan is going forward he said he says he doesn't know he said that's a better question for management so the very very interesting comments from Sydney Crosby so I saw that tweet from Rob Rossi so I put the eyes emoji on top of it and I got called out for rumor mongering and I'm like I'm just saying it's an interesting quote I'm not saying he wants out and I'm not saying he's getting traded at the deadline in the off season or the year after who knows if this if this disaster in Pittsburgh continues and he wants to win somewhere and wants to come to the place that you scored a goal to goal in I mean perhaps down the road we can talk about that look at this guy doing the sales pitch just kidding back in the corner where you scored that golden goal with your friends Jim rather could you imagine scoring in the Stanley Cup final from that corner Rick Tockett all your friends here again you know you could be right there you could call Vancouver a second home you know Canadian home right forget to let's not go down the road all right 650 650 Viking said sat talked a lot earlier in the season about seeing the best version McKay of going down the stretch into the playoffs looking that way tonight at least his prophecy could come true I at least the best I've seen him look this year tonight for Ilya McKay of and the coach also shouted him out using his speed and you sure he didn't score the one where he had the chance right in front of Aiden Hill but keep digging away and yeah he was very effective tonight yeah he really was right and it's just it feels like he'll never score because he's getting these great eight chances the one he had net front I mean he jams it in and and nadon hill robs him with a pad say but he set up Brock Bessar in a lot of chances too Bessar I mean he had like two great eight chances in close one of them was set up by McKay of it was one of his better games you want to see the bottom line come through and it just feels like he'll he'll never score but he plays this way like he's going to make an impact and eventually that'll come through too and I know people text and I know Tyler always says well you guys were so tough on cuz Manko how about McKay of and it's details matter in games and when McKay of skates and plays well like he's good defensively he can for check well he plays to the team system and even when he does a score he makes an impact and at least he was she's been showing that more and tonight was one of his better games it wasn't until like fairly recently where he was now becoming like a major net negative I understand you'll convert chances that hurts too but he was still fairly responsible defensively then the giveaway started happening then the turnover is leading to goals started happening then he wasn't skating for a little stretch there and opening up seams for opportunities for goals and so that was the really concerning stretch but that's not always reflective of who he is he's the strong defensive player at his best he's a smart intelligent player at his best and so tonight was a massive step in the right direction for Illy McKay of because if he can play in that spot we've mentioned a souped up PDG in that spot well that's what Illy McKay of can be he's faster he's got a bigger reach he can win pucks along the boards he can be the first one there you start doing that and then you have a bit more play making ability the PDG not talking that's overwhelmingly great but it's he he can find guys differently than PDG again you can look the difference PDG tried passing it in scored he scored a goal though scored a goal PDG he got the game winning goal not just any goal the game winning gold PDG wg PDG that's a bit of a tongue twister even all right good stuff uh sea like texted him before the game and said I'm calling a connects win text the back and call the post got it good good work there sea legs back to back games he's called now for the Canucks and against the kings and the Vegas gold tonight's uh keep the good lives going all right uh keep your thoughts coming into our text inbox Brandon and poco says Canucks play the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday or or sat will probably call them the New York Jets yes probably wouldn't be lee and vegas was giving him that shot so he took it trying to take away the jt miller and elise peterson shots on the flanks there's room down the middle of the ice for quin hues as elise peterson gets him the puck and a quick release by quin hues as he takes one stride forward and gets it past aid in hill who looks like he got a little bit of it with his glove but a lot of room for quin hues to walk in and snipe to make this one nothing Canucks score just as a five on three expires made it one nothing at the time by quin hues and the Canucks go on to win three one over the vegas gold tonight and this is the connection to a post game show presented by the number five orange on sport net sports net 650 and the sports net radio network sati or shaw with bick nazar keep your thoughts coming into our tax min box six fifty six fifty courtesy of dunbar lumber you can also grab a phone line 604 280 zero six fifty you're told free one triple eight two seven five zero six fifty and we are going to get to the reaction coming up in a bit six fifty six fifty and we are going to hear from elise sorry quin hues coming up in a few moments as well but i wanted to spend a few moments kind of elaborating a bit more on how the defense played like as far as the defensemen go and Thatcher demko tonight you outline the save he made when we were talking to randy coming across on jack eichl and how well he was in position and it wasn't in desperation but he still came and came across me the big saves man they're huge saves so massive but there are a number of glove saves there was a two-on-one chance he made a good glove save on there was a few in close chances i mean he just stood tall but also the job the defense did in boxing out and really taken away the middle of the ice and they really didn't give up too many low to high plays or east west passes that the one that happened is when we talk about how he comes across and makes a save but those were very few and far between in this game and that was a real testament to the five-man game but also individually how the defensemen were playing in front of demko tonight yeah there was even a couple of passes into the slot where the dorov tipped a couple uh as well and just overall uh what overwhelmingly sequence of chances did the vegas golden knights uh really create uh just per natural stat trick this is what they did five on five two high dangers in the first period one in the second period one in the third period that's that's fantastic work yeah that really was you play that way you you'll find yourself on the right side of a lot of results and the one goal it's it's a shot from distance where there's a player missing a stick and ppgs in front of the net trying to deal with screens and Roy slips across the face of that dreamko to open up that opportunity but overwhelmingly great night protecting the middle of the ice and then that dreamko first period glove hand was on display making a save against i go making a save on manta there's one more in there as well and then the big one on eichl in the third period but but after that it was he was spectacular you know when uh the guy who really i think impressed a lot of people tonight was karsen sousie we mentioned it a bit earlier about some of the love that he got but you know he was also drawn comparison sousie was to a former banker reconnected defenseman bick yeah okay we got a tax year six fifty six fifty uh Ian karsen sousie willy mitchell compare contrast discuss i love these questions like this yeah i think there are similarities obviously with their size reach and the other thing that is very similar i think is both can be physical but their first instinct is play the puck i still would say that win the space win the space they're so good at it and i mean there are times sousie can take a guy out but he he's more interested in winning the puck and and making the right play as opposed to going just going in for the body and i'm all about that but that's not to say he shies away from leaning into a guy that and he's good at clearing the front of net as well like he's a physical player but his first instinct is to make the right defensive play just fantastic it's separating man from puck but then still has the composure and ability to move the puck right we're talking about a can you drop a guy and then take the the puck away and skate while this guy is a pile of bones in the corner right physicality comes up in different ways but you still have to go make the next play and karsen sousie under pressure with someone on his back able to make plays so there's a lot of defensive stylistic pairings that that go with mitchell and sousie i would also say sousie's got more mobility yeah he does he's a bit quicker but in the offensive zone that's where the separating differences i would probably say by and large mitchell is probably better than sousie's better i'd say yeah he was and he played like big minutes like yeah he played like massive minutes all shut down minutes and he battle really well i think i'd say i'd say the overall physical impact and defensive play was slightly higher from it will be mitchell in different eras right like you're you're lumbering guys up in front of the net it's your oma gimlin in front of the net like you needed the i like willy mitchell to do that in front of the net versus now it's significantly different yeah but karsen sousie's upside in the offensive zone to me is what stands out he's a so that's a nice shot he makes nice passes reads the game well and you know he with health with health like karsen sousie should be able to put up you know 10 12 goals yeah well yeah i mean he's got a great shot and he's smart enough to understand where to go he's good at being the trailer as well to jump into the play from time and he makes a simple plays too i mean i've been so impressed with overall his puck handling and it's nothing spectacular but to your point under pressure he can make good plays he's really good at knocking pucks out too i've been very impressed with karsen sousie's play and tonight was another game he came up big and as far as willy mitchell goes also had a super long stick you know that made it harder for him to handle the puck in tight the way sousie does so effectively what do you what are you grinning about no we we we got a text uh we're not going to read it but i posted it on twitter and everyone's reply and be like is this who we think it is and it's not it's not who you think it is all right uh 18 1 and 2 with sousie in the line of this text message says yeah 100 percent yeah fantastic yeah he's so good yeah he's so good is it just underrated yeah he really is man he's been fantastic and had a very strong game here tonight this text says guys nice win and good comment about garland at all dealing with the physical nature of the game but the playoffs are a completely different animal the physicality that time of year will far outweigh what we saw tonight connects will still need some size and or toughness going forward i don't disagree that i want uh this team could stand to add a bit more sandpaper and size 100 and i do agree with the comment about playoffs are different and that's one of the things i wanted to get across before this game to that hey playoffs when we talk about matchups they're so different that you can't always make a direct comparison however given how the golden nights play given how much trouble the connective had against the golden nights this type of game you need to be able to hang here if you want to have any chance of hanging come the playoffs so i do think the Canucks can do it but we won't know until we get there to see how high end their physical nature can be you know and and that's something that do you need to maybe add something a bit more because right now i thought garland and obviously hogan on a great tonight pew suiter was was positive too that's three guys right there that are all you know under five eleven you know at could you you're getting Joshua back that helps i don't mind having a bit more right now put coz in coming in helps you out as well having somebody with a bit more size but i wouldn't mind seeing somebody that that has a bit more heft in the lineup too come the postseason yeah the the tempo will obviously pick up and the speed and the physical it will obviously pick up but the expectation would be the Canucks tempo should also pick up like this isn't them playing at 100 percent come playoffs like players are naturally gonna do things that they're uncomfortable doing and such is the demand in the playoffs so you're gonna get a more ferocious side of the Canucks if they play at this tempo then yeah they're gonna get worked but playoffs demands it and it'll bring the best out of them as well and when you start seeing the game play at that speed you know that's why you have to look for things that translate to the playoffs like that put coz in shift something like that is what translates to the playoffs you play smart like that you play fast like that you're gonna pick it up a little bit more but that's the sort of stuff that that helps you in that environment come playoff time so just naturally could they use a bit more speed of course they they are they have been one of the slowest teams in the league could they use a bit more size yeah probably because it's not even just that the three guys you mentioned there hoeglander garland and suitor they're also not necessarily like overly mobile like yeah they're not like truly like fast that garland now garland is shifty right suitor can can glide or long and play he's slow he's not fast right and hoeglander is hoeglander i think he's he's slow hoeglander is like first three steps is really good honestly in hockey that that's short area versus most important is more important of course but the long speed obviously what we're talking about to the sum to extend but he's the best out of the bunch and he's not this you know super fast player people text in jordan greenway and he he is the combination of speed and size the question is what's the cost of acquisition another year at three million which isn't the world end of the world it's just i wonder if the connects are willing to pay the price that maybe buffalo would want for him and if you're asking for you know a high price that's kind of where the issue is a little bit but but the point being is that size paired with um some true mobility yeah is what like slows the play down right yeah and so garland hoeglander suitor all very effective in their own ways right but if you're talking about um size not paired with fantastic mobility um is there moments where they get knocked over is there moments where they get skated around and stuff like that where it can be a worry so is there an addition they can make to uh enhance that uh could be consideration yeah well we have 13 hours and eight minutes to go until the trade deadline so man we'll see what happens barely get a good night's sleep in that time you gotta get up early i usually eat my uh 11 hours plus an app i know you sleep a lot this man sleeps a lot all right keep your thoughts coming into our text them box 650 650 and we'll get some more of those thoughts coming up in a few moments but let's hear from a couple of conduct players uh here is the netminder tonight we spoke about that tridentical and how good he was and here he is meeting with media and talking about a big win in vegas i thought we cleaned up a lot of good stuff and uh you know just full team efforts full 60 minutes which is great so um big road trip for us uh go home here for a real long home sand and try to take advantage of that the group seemed to not give them very much what did you see that you guys did so well from your vantage point oh just tracking back i thought it was really good RF-3 saving a really good spot helping our d out so uh limit odd man rushes and um just good communication and really strong play in our our own end to um you know just limit the the chances that they got from the middle of the rink so um or do you've been doing a really good job box guys out and let me see the book i asked quin but what are these not just the winds but the way you won and the style in which you won what does that do to set you guys up for success here down the stretch yeah well he's feeling playoff games right now so um you know it's going to be important that we can sustain this type of play um pretty much for the rest of the year here so um these are big games for us and and good job by by our group to you know produce and um execute at a high level what are you most looking forward to at home oh just hanging out my wife and my kid um you know we spent a lot of time on the road this year so it'll be good to uh get back to them and um you know he's out of fun age right now so i'm excited to see them tonight. Thatcher Dempko after a 3-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights here tonight and another strong performance and continues leading the way in the national hockey league bick with winds his 33rd on the season and really putting together a vesna candidate campaign for the Vancouver Canucks between the pipes and says he's looking forward to that nine game home stand and you know it's so big for this team bick to win these two games now winning three on the on the road trip sweeping it is fantastic but you beat the LA Kings who are kind of creeping up the standings a bit you beat the Vegas Golden Knights who have been you know struggling their fourth straight loss here and and you know the Canucks may be catching them at the good time as well and taking advantage of it and you give them credit for doing so but still these are you know two tough teams you beat people people keep asking about can the Canucks play playoff hockey can they play you know against the big boys can they win against teams like this and they show that they can and they've gone through the toughest part of their schedule in terms of travel back to backs three games and four nights four games and six nights they're done pretty much most of that now they have one set of back to back left and that's an April they have a nine game home stand and a lot of breathing room in between they have a couple of days three days even a thing four day break somewhere in between two they have a lot of time off there's practice time there are some tough opponents but now the Canucks get to enjoy a far better schedule down the stretch heading into the postseason how beneficial is that going to be to them practicing honing in on their game getting Lindholm up to speed perhaps acquiring a couple players in the trade deadline as hard as it was and give the Canucks credit now they're sitting here with 89 points on the season we mentioned can they get to 90 at the trade deadline they got to 89 you know that's that's pretty darn close right they're at 89 points i'm not even making predictions about where they finish but there's a chance here where this team can really hone in on what they are improve and finish the season strong and head into the postseason if they finish the season strong as a team with confidence in a rhythm and i think that is that could be absolutely gigantic what an opportunity for this team to take advantage up here down the final 16 games well they crossed the threshold right we always talk about 20 40 20 well now they're in the final 20 and now you better start fine tuning everything and charging towards that sprint here whenever your kick up starts and you start reaching your peak it's got to be able to sustain come play off time so if they're starting it 18 games early 19 games really that's fine but you know this this stretches the ramp up that rick talking is talking about it's starting now and they have this opportunity to push this pacific division lead to be honest i think they've won the pacific division now there's a 14 uh sorry 11 point gap between them and Edmonton 16 between them and vegas uh yeah some games in hand for Edmonton but they they win all four and in their very compressed schedule they have all these games coming up can i get all this arrest so i think the pacific division is already over and they use this rest they use the practice time to hit their stride to get ready for the game one that'd be very impressive very impressive if they could be looking sharp come game one well that's what you want to do and that's kind of what you want to trend towards and Edmonton lost tonight and and as far as the standings go and we can elaborate on some of this stuff a bit later and and honestly the way vegas is trending could they be a wild card team i mean they're kind of sitting in and closing they're in a wild card spot right now right now they're the aid seed they're they're technically behind Nashville right because of tiebreaker regulation wins we'll elaborate on the standings and where the connects are right now especially with Edmonton losing that's coming up on the other side it's sat here shot with bickness are keep your thoughts coming in to our Dunbar lumber tax sandbox 650 650 we'll hear from Quinn Hughes plus we are going to get to Ian McIntyre in more of your reaction after 3-1 connects win in vegas fever i go left waiting he's stopped by Denkar across to his right made a great save off his arm to keep this a 3-1 game and the Canucks get it out to center Canucks 3-1 win over the vegas gold the night and this is the Canucks central post-game show presented by the number five orange on sports net 650 and the sports net radio network keep getting your thoughts into our dispatch no to our dumbbar lumber text nambox 650-650 the dispatch plumbing heating and air conditioning hotline is open 604-280-0650 we have a lot of people texting in about how the Canucks played in that third period somebody texted in about the third period and wasn't very enamored with how they played but robin victoria says absolute textbook third period by the vancouver Canucks the scoring chances were few and far between for both teams the Canucks had a 2-1 win where they weren't able to generate on it was hoe lander and peterson they had a few other decent opportunities and vegas had a couple but it was really about how the Canucks stifled the goldenites and i thought they did a great job winning battles not letting vegas cycle on them and create too much offense and like we said they really didn't get to the net a ton in this game and i think that made a big difference and when you have some size on the blue line and you play a strong five-man game at your own end it makes a big difference especially when you have the tatredemco backstopping you the way he's been playing but i think that's a big part of how they won here tonight was they really stifled the vegas goldenites in the third like that's where you kind of expect the vegas to make a big push and then ever were able to really get anything going that's what's really impressive about this road trip to like even the kings game that second period make some adjustments figure out how to counter that one three one that they were just locking up shop and and trying to play prevent and and they solve that one first period the Canucks had some issues two on ones right there was a couple there and over the course of the game all that got squeezed out and solve in the problems mid-game it's a full credit to them and stifling is a good word for it because it it was challenging for vegas in the final 40 minutes of this game just trying to bring up the the shot clock here in periods two yeah vegas took 10 and 11 shots but connects 15 in the second and they they lock up shop themselves with four in the final frame but the height and chance as as we mentioned earlier one in the second period one in the third period for vegas goldenites plus a very clean game for Vancouver yeah just the the garland holding penalty which was kind of soft but you knew they were going to give one but nevertheless they were able to kill that one off too yeah they were they certainly were and they got their 41st win here tonight that chardemco picking up his 33rd win and to answer the question to the person texting in is that chardemco leading the league in wins right now yes yes he is he leads the national high-caligua wins 33 george of has 32 for the colorado avalanche so the vesna campaign is very strong for number 35 in vancouver conox colors and we mentioned the standing so the conox have 89 points now they continue to lead the pacific division and not only lead the division they currently have the most points in the western conference as well now in terms of point percentage i know the winnipeg jets are right there as well they have four games in hand now you have to win your games in hand and who knows what happens in the conox big game against winnipeg coming up on saturday that's a huge one um but they they're able to create a bit more separation between themselves and the edminton orlers edminton orlers have been on an incredible run recently getting themselves back into the picture not only as a playoff team of course not only as a top three team in the division but also knocking on that door to perhaps even contend for the top spot in the pacific division with this window and edminton losing today in regulation against the columbus bluejack yeah i was going to say it's not even just that you're lost is that if you're plotting this out and you're like oh okay the columbus bluejack has two points on the same night connects play vegas they drop two well that flips yeah that's four point swing it's a four point swing for me it's it's a wrap that's it for you hey yeah it's over well i mean and edminton they don't have necessarily the toughest schedule but they have the toughest schedule in terms of games played in in amount of days and they have a lot of back-to-back left fatigues and issue you saw it tonight that's going to creep up and it's late in the season i mean would you rather have your tough part of your schedule earlier late i'd say early if you can have success that's what the Canucks we mentioned in the Canucks in the first half of in the previous segment how they had a real tough schedule up until this point and now it starts easing up for the final 20 games edminton is the exact opposite it's going to be tough for them but uh the Canucks up at 11 points they have four games in hand but that still means even if they win those four games the Canucks are still three points up on them saturday is essentially the the last bit of the hard part of the schedule yeah and then after that you have like they don't play till wednesday it's cake it's cake wednesday saturday yeah that's huge and then tuesday yeah i mean it's not even like monday game it's like you saw two days in between it's huge they play like three games like four games in two weeks so so the winnipeg one might be you know coin flip toss up just come back and i imagine there's gonna be a sense of relief you're like wow we're home all the way through till march but you also want to see them be able to stay focused one of the things we're staying home for that many games and and not leaving you home for like three weeks you know you can't get complacent if if they slip up on saturday i can understand that one right it's it's been so tough you get here they just had a slip up no more slip up i'm gonna say the one game just the one game no one game i don't want to see it i know but if naturally it can happen okay of course yes it can happen but after that one it should get nipped in the butt obviously and there's really no excuses beyond that for me but this winnipeg one is gonna be really interesting to see their effort yeah because if they come out strong and you man you really say like this group is locked in and they've shown many different times of seasons they can switch it on and readjust themselves even the down moments right from mid-February to end of February that was tough obviously but if you look at the bigger picture on both sides of it there's prolonged winning streak so it's essentially just like 500 stretches yeah yeah no exactly right so um i'm not as i'm not concerned i'm just saying just like the season that was the call earlier details asking us like hey were we wavering on things i was like no i i haven't i mean i even mentioned this before that i'm not concerned we were kind of you know jousting with people in the text inbox too and people calling in about concerns about the team and how can you not be concerned about what you're seeing they can't beat the good teams and we're like well let's see what happens give it some time you know you have some ups and downs and it's been pretty quiet and i haven't seen people really text in and do the what aboutery tonight you know which i think is positive because sometimes it's like well well you know this guy's injured well this happened and you know there's not a lot of well you know what about or you go about the vegas win even though there's been it's been pointed out we've mentioned and vegas has been on not the best run for themselves right there they're going through some struggles but you talk about getting a boost they just add a manta and no one hand offense to the lineup tonight cool so good for you yeah honestly load up right yeah totally get it i was making this point earlier like do you feel threatened by those additions threat i mean i i think hand if in boost or blue line it raises the floor no doubt i mean it raises the ceiling listen i've been down on manta i've been so manta this entire season people have been texting into our shows be like what about manta and people who listen no i'm like eh nothing on manta right so we've always been low on manta he might fit vegas yeah he might fit he's got some size been scoring decently but he's also not a player who brings it consistently and i even wonder how surprised would you be at some point in the playoffs he gets healthy scratched yeah i wouldn't right so that's the type of player he is it wouldn't shock me right so to me he's not the needle mover i do think alex martinez who looks a step a bit slower now i thought he was decent this year but not at the level you would expect now he's injured you upgrade him with hanifen now you have death on the blue line like i think that's that's a that's a very positive addition but but the thing is like we spent weeks saying like oh man this trademark it looks really underwhelming and so yeah and then a couple of guys get traded oh my god they're loading up it's like well who are they loading up with the guys we were just concerned about for three weeks that the trade market looks a little underwhelming yeah and so it's like yeah like make the trades do the right thing i get it and and the floor is certainly raising for some of these teams but i'm not sure how much they solve the problems again i'm not a huge hanifen guy but he's he's a solid player obviously but like i'd probably take philipronical room i'd probably take cars and sushi over him yeah especially for the salary you know uh that's why i've also never been the biggest hanifen fan like i like hanifen i just don't think he's the guy that i want to pay seven million to very add a toolsy guy yeah but he's he's more toolsy than overall effective he's a number four i think maybe a three on some teams he's stabilizer not a needle mover yeah and especially you know doesn't play the premium defense side as a righty either then i would be maybe a bit more like okay he's he's more pivotal in terms of importance but yeah i mean he helps them there's no doubt about it the Canucks added Lindholm and there were concerns today two people saying what what are the connects going to do in response well they already made their addition to Lindholm and the way he played and fit in tonight and helped the team win i think you know quell some of the concerns as well about you know are they getting enough from that acquisition we got a big assist tonight in their win against the vegas goldenites all right we mentioned we are going to hear from Canucks players post game so uh let's get to queen hues here who spoke to kate peterson after a 3-1 win over the vegas goldenites and i'll get to that clip in just a second and is ready to go right now Quinn you were able to get your team on the board first but most importantly you guys played consistently to get another win what does this mean for the confidence of the group i mean we're already a confident group but obviously to sweep the road trip and then go home for 20 days or whatever it is it's nice and we've earned that it felt like you didn't give them much defensively what was the key there and what'd you like most about your group i mean dammer made some really big saves as usual and then i thought we were just committed and didn't give them much but um obviously a good accomplishment only giving up three goals on this trip you mentioned the three goals on this trip what does that kind of a stretch in the way that you were able to play in all three of them do to set you up for success here down the stretch yeah just consistency and finding our game every night so that's all it is i'm sure there were points in february during the thick of it that you felt like this homestand was never coming how good does it feel to be there and be heading home yeah it's going to be really nice haven't played much at home in the last six weeks so like i said earlier we're going to enjoy and i'm sure guys are excited to spend time with our family thanks ken thank you thank you that is connects defensement Quinn Hughes big game from him tonight helping the team win scores the goal on the power play to make it one nothing connects go on to win three one and um what was that song in the background i couldn't quite make it out textion if you know what six fifty six fifty they're having fun though can we get another snippet of that uh eddy feel like that's like a an old 80s song that's what it feels like yeah that's what it feels like like we're dancing or something like that i can't run with that song it's called all right yeah eddy we got nothing we got down the stretch just consistency and finding our game um every night so that's all this i'm sure there yeah what song is that i know that song you know the song is the can't can and nailed down the name uh we'll get some help in the text them it's gonna bug me yeah it's gonna bug me we'll figure it out we'll figure it out um you know somebody texted back say you wait you guys were talking about the third period the connects were dominated the vegas goldenites had one high danger chance in the in the third period so the shots in that period were ten four in favor of vegas yeah but i mean quality scoring chances there were one one connects had one high danger chance vegas had one and there's some other stuff was from the outside and there are down two goals vegas was gonna press a little bit obviously but honestly i i can't really think of any quality chances they had outside of the barbership one in close where he misses the net and that was like in the final minute when they're already down to and i'm maybe that was even when the goalie was pulled even so is that even count as a five on five chance that's a you know man advantage chances and even strength chance technically by the numbers so right yeah yeah five on five yeah i can bring up the total chances if you want yeah total chances i mean vegas had a couple on the power play uh totally in total high dangers there were thirteen seven in favor of vancouver three four vegas so the two they had two right and went the two in the second three in the third well they had two with the goalie pull they're gonna get chances of course yeah what do what do you think is gonna happen you're gonna get chances when you pull the goalie but they didn't score and the connects did a really good job of cleaning it up and you know and i thought the connection in terms of not giving much to vegas that was an all-night thing i just thought they kind of they kept the pressure going for the most part and it really took vegas a long time to get into this game because of the penalties early on too and it's just you know fantastic uh oh we got it calibim mission says you should be dancing by the bg's okay yeah yeah there we go there we go that might be it yeah that might boys having fun although we're getting uh different uh text coming in here so i i think calib is is right though yes one says uh empire of the sun it's a great song man this uh there's new gen of these uh young players on the clocks figuring out bg's that's the track yeah well people are some somebody said it's empire of the sun that's what per deep says as well is it uh no multiple of you will uh texting in now it's now it's uh well you know what it's oh we we have a song off here wow we have to it's dead 50/50 right we have to get uh eddy who can actually listen to music right now to listen to it after he gets i'm back on to figure out this is great exactly what happened you should be dancing wow it's literally alternating text between bg's and empire of the sun i guess maybe they're using that because because it was califa the thrill empire of the sun is that maybe they're using it could be the same thing maybe maybe anyways this is fantastic it's good i didn't remember what we were talking about where we were talking about i'm so enthralled by this song you can just hear the just the dub of it yeah the voice vibing out but i'm just mono fixated i'm sorry but you know quin also mentioned like demko said uh guys are happy to be back with their families and be back home again and it's it's going to be massive here for this this homestead if they can come through to and take advantage of it and just not get complacent when you're home for that stretch i mean it's a nine game homestead it's very aggressive like i know we're happy and everything but it's a nine straight games i never seen anything like that and stretched out yeah from the end to till the end of the month set they're gonna come home tomorrow day off and then all the way from the eight to the 31st they're gonna be at home i think i don't recall anything like this no it's it's remarkable it's fantastic all right uh we're talking about old school well no no all right i know let let's go to the foam boards the man is ready the man we call the triple threat he is here you watch him on tv you read him on digital and you're about to hear him on radio he is Ian McIntyre oh we're going new music he said there was going to be a curve ball i guess this is it yeah we we think this is the song that was playing in the connects locker room oh yeah this is definitely it yeah no i don't think it is it didn't sound like this oh i think it did sound i don't think so yeah did they reacry a choir or kyle burrows you know he was uh was that the song guy for a young guy he had uh well he was in control of the music and uh for a young guy he had a lot of history a lot of familiarity with older music remember going into the room once it was earth wind and fire playing hey man when you feel good you know yes yes yeah uh you know and as far as like uh feeling good about where things are going here with this connex team i mean three games in a row sweeping this road trip and being able to beat the the la kings and now the vegas goldenites and back-to-back games what does i say about the team well they're still not scoring but but what it says uh his you know when they're on their game and they're playing with the discipline and commitment that rick talkett demands they are a hard out for anybody they are a formidable team it's not a fluke that they are where they are in the standings it's not luck that they've been even with that two-week stretch before this one even with that they've been one of the most consistent teams this year and you know i don't want to make i don't want to make two grandiose a statement about you know trades or no trades but you know the the talent the talent is great but you have to have cohesiveness and and resolve an application as a team and obviously if you have that and you have the talent that's the best case scenario the connex already have a lot of talent and would they like more sure sure that they'd like more nothing that they would do no one they would add from outside their group as is as important to this team just making sure it's on top of its game when it goes into the playoffs and Elias peterson is a great sort of example this week and and he had a he had a really good week the best thing for the connex on this trip other than getting the three wins and restoring a lot of confidence and and familiarity with with how they have to play the best thing is that they got back Carson sousie and Elias peterson now sousie was hurt for seven weeks peterson was just missing for a couple weeks as the team was struggling and his uh contract status became an inferno and sousie returned and played i thought exceptionally well for a guy who's been out that long but peterson also returned and played like the guy who earned that 92.8 million dollar contract i thought he i thought he was good in Anaheim i thought he was great in los angeles and i thought he was excellent again tonight and this is all my long-winded way of saying no one that they could acquire whether it be jake gensell maybe tomorrow they get the trano he hasn't been traded yet tonight has he uh not yet not yet no one that they get is as important to the team's success as elias peterson playing on top of his game versus elias peterson struggling so sometimes uh you know there's going to be a lot of teams disappointed and maybe the connex will be too because let let's not forget they paid a small fortune to get elias lindholm it's going to be a lot of teams disappointed with what they've done ahead of the trade deadline when they don't win in the playoffs but we'll see they it's nice for the connex that they've got they've got most of their game back as as millers said in los angeles they're not they're still not scoring the pucks aren't going in for them like they did for most of the season but they're they're still finding ways to win because the rest of their game is good enough uh the two guys uh rick talk it was asked about and got to mention was elia mckayev and Vasili put cole's in massive games for both of them yeah i i thought both were good it's you wonder if mckayev is ever going to score again the way the way things are going but certainly big step in the right direction and pud cole's has just been he's been solid since since he he got here and it's now three games not one uh i think it was after the first game we talked about him so that that's good because you know needs another 20 of them now but he looks he looks so uh much more comfortable and confident which is what he said himself you know when i talked to the other day but you know mckayev is man he there's there's so many games where you didn't even notice mckayev so to notice him tonight because he was getting score and chances in not finishing is a big big step up and i i think as well part of the reason there's there's lots of factors right that have that have sort of elevated the connex need for a wager who can score one factor is that they've decided that lindholm is going to be a third line center he's not going to play wing on the second line or peterson's not going to play wing with lindholm so that's one thing another thing to code a joshua's injury a third thing mckayev's disappearance you know it's a guy who scored 10 in the first 28 games and you know nobody's projecting that ili mckayev was going to become a 30 or 35 goal score but he sure looked like a guy who was going to play in the middle six and contribute you know 20 to 25 goals this year and that's that hasn't happened so he's still got time uh but it's almost unfathomable that a guy who plays as much as he does and i know there's not there's not much power play understandably so um but a guy who plays as much as he does uh can go 33 games without scoring a goal that's that's mind boggling yeah i mean it is mind boggling especially for a guy that can score more and you know then then he has but hopefully he gets hot at the right time somebody was texting in and saying imagine him getting hot into the postseason and scoring all those goals i guess we can all hope for such uh for such good uh turnaround as he would have if that actually did happen as far as the trade deadline that's coming up obviously tomorrow and we're all going to be busy we'll chat with uh you throughout here about it but what are you expecting here from Vancouver tomorrow do you expect them to do anything sizable like to foldy or kind of add some pieces around the edges yeah i know i think they're still gonna push and and try to do something significant i'm actually extremely relieved they did not let their hearts overwhelm their heads in the pursuit of jake genssel because it's an absolute ransom that they got from carolina just the volume of assets and you know carolina is in a a stronger position to resign them so they probably you know much like say the horbat trade they may not be looking at it as a rental for the Canucks to have given up as a reported lakara mackey and holdlander to rent jake genssel for a couple months no thank you no thank you i'll pass on that uh but i i still think that they're aiming big i mean Rutherford is always aimed big and you know i think fratrano because he's got a year uh remaining on his contract makes him a little more appealing i don't know maybe that makes him more expensive too but he's not as accomplished obviously as genssel is i i think they're still gonna try and push but i'm glad that there there seems to be an acknowledgement that is as much progress as this organization is made in a relatively short time in player development in getting guys at the hl ready to try and take the next step at the hl in broadening there or maybe deepening is a better word the prospect pool by being creative and looking for free agents players unsigned from other teams players from college and and the western league um as much success as they've had at that at the top of their prospect pyramid there are very few elite guys very few guys that you say can't miss i'm not and i wouldn't even say lakara mackey's account miss prospect but he's he's certainly an elite prospect as is a lander and then a little step below them is EP2 uh i don't think the Canucks can afford with where they are as an organization to be spending those kind of assets on on a rental player so i hope that's not what we see i do think they'll be aggressive though i think they'll try again for a wanger and i think they'll probably look at adding uh another depth player as well whether it's defense or a guy to play at the bottom of the forward group yeah absolutely and uh you know i i think uh brother for himself mentioned he he isn't expected it's too hard to add a depth defenseman so i would expect to do that as well and it's going to be an interesting day and i know we have a lot of store uh tomorrow so i'm back we'll let you get to bed get some decent sleep and i look forward to seeing you on sunday and we're going to get to see each other so much or with this nine game homestead maybe you'll be sick of us at the end of it never never never possibly well you better hope that doesn't happen saturday you'll be taking the bustle oh i know that's not going to be fun not on post-game so i'll be nice to you i promise yeah i'll look forward to tomorrow it's always it's always uh a fun day i i i think one thing we all need to remember as well the Canucks have made big moves you know they they made the move for for Lindholm uh they made the move couple months before that for Nikita Zadora and and so it's not like they haven't done anything they just haven't done anything this week yet but they've already made some some big moves and we'll see if there's anything more to come last thing i want to say though just on that thought i know you're trying to get rid of me no it's all good you got go ahead i get kind of i get kind of loopy late at night my work's done i was going to ramble like this but one thing that doesn't get a whole lot of attention that patrick alvin has said a couple of times is that they're trying to not only win now they're trying to build something sustainable they're trying not to be a one and done team so i think that bears remembering as well when you're thinking about what assets what futures they might spend to increase their their chance of winning uh this year yeah and uh i'm really interested to see it happen Ian and uh we have another 12 and a half hours until the deadline so we're on pins and needles seeing what else they might put off pull off yeah i've i've got a casting call at 7 30 tomorrow morning so oh wow all right well get to bed Ian then and uh we'll chat with you tomorrow maybe all right good night fellas good night that's Ian McIntyre make sure to read his latest on sportsnet.ca and his coverage of the trade deadline which we will have wall to wall coverage here on sports and 650 on friday from 6 a.m all the way to 6 p.m. and then obviously more too but 12 straight hours of essential essentially trade deadline coverage uh hell for an abrupt we'll go to 10 and then connex talk comes in early they go from what 10 to 1 and then oh 10 to noon or 10 to 1 uh connex talk tomorrow is going uh 10 to 1 and then you're on but i think i'm filling in for a bit on that stretch too yeah myself and ran deep till 3 and then you guys till 6 yeah me and uh Dan are on from 3 to 6 tomorrow and uh hopefully we'll have Patrick alvinon and hopefully talk about uneventful and productive day for your Vancouver Canucks now before we get out we have a lot of reaction here on what was the song and honestly i i do think it was with califa empire of the sun like i do think it's the an empire to sun the thrill i think is that you've talked me into this yeah i listened to the back of it too while i and Ian was talking at times we figured it out it's that one bg's is just a good song i'm going to listen to that on my way home yeah that's a good song to listen to on the way home all right fantastic it would be really surprising if somebody played bg's it sounds like that to me but i would be stunned if they pulled back to the 70s you know like you know what there's wind in vegas we got to go to the bg's listen when you win 41 games you run out of songs at some point to kind of run through right in real time winning a lot of games right now this season all right great stuff as always thanks to all of you listening participating on the text and the box calling in it's always a pleasure can't wait to be back at it again on saturday but we're on again tomorrow thanks a fast eddie gregory producing the show for bick nazar i'm sat there strong this has been the connect central post game show presented by the number five orange on the home of
