Hello, and welcome to Nights in the Night actual play podcast. This Blades in the Dark adventure, machinations, is written in run by our GM John. And now, please enjoy episode 606, titled I'm volunteering to stab you again. Actual play begins immediately. Hello and welcome to Nights in the Night actual play podcast. I am your host, John, Leader of Blades in the Dark campaign machinations. Just with me, starting on my left are, I'm Thomas, playing Hadrian's Briar, or Burning Briar while on the job, or run away Eruvian Demon Air, currently, I look like an accuracy man of healthy building noble stock, with long coat scholarly clothes, a pair of glasses, and a thorny Briar bursting out of my mouth and ears, and I'm a leech, my job is to make all sorts of potions, and drugs, and machines, and such. I have a total of three strats. Hello everyone, I'm Scott. I'm playing Tesslyn Vale, also known as the Bell of the Abyss. Tess is a Sabarosi Whisper. She does the dirty work for the Archive of Echoes. She explores the past via ghosts with bored pender in her patron. Tesslyn is olive complexion, curly brown hair, petite physique with striking green eyes. She also has a dead hand sewn to her left wrist. She has two stress. I'm Jim playing Skeetman Being, also known as Busy. He is a socializing and enterprising handsome young noble trying to revitalize the finances of the Bing coal mining family. Skeetman very much enjoys running his many businesses and side hustles, always finding creative ways of making money from both the good and bad fortune of others. He currently has three stress. And I am Tom. I'm playing Esther Rowland, known as Ghost, and I am a cutter, a former blue coat, and the reason I am called Ghost is because I have pale skin eyes and hair. My major job is to keep all of our crew members safe as possible, and I have seven stress because I rolled a one last time we played. Hello, I'm Michael playing Gordon, a young, thin, good-natured, skullfish lurk. Gordon specializes in infiltration, which allows him to bypass most security measures. He currently has four stress. All right, I don't want to take up too much time. No, we're good. And so we are to Tesla. You have made your way. I'm not going to charge you a coin about it. It's pennies on the dollar to find your way to Charter Hall. And you're looking through Charter Hall University's staff registry. Yes. So, did you make your way into here? I am quite certain that having worked in an offshoot of Charter Hall, which would be the archive of echoes, wasn't that kind of a... Yeah. I mean, it's Moreland's unseen philosophies subdivision. So I believe I have some criteria, some ID badges or whatnot that I can put on. And to access the archives or the various details I'm looking for in regards to the family life or the day-to-day life of Degholos. I think because what do the IDs say? Do they say that I'm part of the archive of echoes? Or do they say I'm part of the Moreland's College of Unseen Philosophies? Because it kind of matters, because if it says the archive of echoes, then I don't think I can use those IDs to get into... I think that your benefactor has provided you with what you need. I think that it will require a role unless you spend a heat to flag yourself as a underling of... Lord Penderin. Lord Penderin investigating members of the unnatural philosophy department. The role, would that be consort or sway? It would likely be consort unless you can spin me on sway. I don't determine at the end result. It's mostly what the consequences are for the various options. I'm actually better at consort, so that's good. I'll make the role and see if I can avoid the heat for our crew. Okay. Then you are in a risky position. You have standard effect as your face has been seen here before, but infrequently as someone asking for privileges, mostly as someone passing by. Mm-hmm. Okay. So that's three dice. I will go ahead and make that role. I rolled a five, four, and two for a high of five, so a partial success. Okay. Then the complication here is there's someone who joins you in research. They reach over your shoulder, they say, "Oh, I too need to look into this," and presents a card. She's in the same department, I'll vouch for her, and puts it on her name. There is no heat involved. This is Mildred Kellis. She offered to be a satellite archive of echoes, while the spirit warden sees the official archive. A relative of the Kellis's, a noble family that Gordon recognizes. As do I, I believe. Yes. Isn't the Kellis family the one that was last seen with the hand of Kotar? Yes. Before they became botanical experts, question mark, question mark, they were the official necromancer family of the nobility of Duskfall. This was before the establishment of the spirit warden's, so there was such a need. Who's this now? The Kellis's, the family you follow Roslyn from, used to be necromancers approximately 150 years ago, and some of their descendants are still mucking about in that, but since the establishment of the spirit warden's, that sort of stuff is illegal. And so, anyone willing to pursue it has mostly gone underground. This is an aunt of Roslyn Kellis, Mildred Kellis. She vouches for Tesslyn, says we've been colleagues for a minute. I'm sorry if the paperwork doesn't check out, but here's my slip, and you can do a deep check if you need to, but the two of us have been associated with this college for a minute. Yes, we have, this is very distressful to not be recognized. And I make eye contact with her with like a twinkling in my eye of gratitude and mischievousness. It's not as easy for folk who don't have a noble name attached to get entrance, but if you check the paperwork, I'm sure Ms. Vail here has her stuff in order. That I do. So let us get on with our research, please. This is, this is all very distressing. The secretary looks ashamed while she flips through a couple of books and says, oh, it's quite fine there. I, okay, now you are here, now it's good, okay, then guard, could you open the gate? There's a buzzing as the turnstile admits you to the archives of Charter Hall. I tuck my left hand away in the pockets of my putty coat and with my right hand, I reach out and grab her hand and squeeze it and thanks and make eye contact and we're far enough away that we're not going to be overheard. I say, thank you so much for that. I don't know what I did to deserve your help and your trust, but is there any way I can repay you? Perhaps I don't want to make it a deal right here. I would prefer we meet later, but when we split the archives between us, I have no doubt that there's things you want to look and do that you cannot and things I would wish to see that I cannot. Absolutely, then later it will be. I give her a card which has information on how to contact me, obviously not the hideaway, but my reconcile, like the one thing that is not connected to the larger group. Right, exactly. Just like a private residence or something along those lines, I give her a card with that and then give her a brief curtsy of thank you and then make my way to the archives I need. Good. Can you make sure that our mutual friend, if not here, then some other place we can agree before we leave? Tesla should understand exactly what she means, but Scott doesn't because there's so many mutual friends, it could be Gordon, it could be Tyran. That's true that it could be Gordon. I don't think she's as knowledgeable about the families going us on, who really wants to know about the people you two have been in contact with, which is Penderan. Okay. She insinuates does not say, can you be sure that Lord Penderan is here or perhaps some other place you feel safe when we next meet? I promise you that I will bring it to his attention, but I don't make his plans for him, so I will absolutely try to make that happen, but I don't want to make promises that I can't follow up on if he decides he wants to stay hidden for obvious reasons at this point. Does that make sense? That can be hidden behind a couple layers of subterfuge. She holds up her hands, she says, I understand. Also understand me that you may come to owe me something if I cannot meet with our friend. Well, as I said, your friend, I would assume would want to speak with you as much as you seem to want to speak with them, so I will do my best to arrange it. I just didn't want to make a promise that I couldn't absolutely guarantee due to the difficult circumstances that are taking place right now. Then perhaps what you owe is no more than a secondary opportunity. Well, do you have a card that I may call upon as I gave you mine and I can let you know if our mutual friend is interested? I will leave you a sealed letter when you leave with the secretary. Okay. That sounds fantastic. I will pick that up on my way out. I look forward to working with you again in the future. It seems to always be a pleasure whenever we meet. Was this the same woman that I met and helped us give you a ride for a minute? I think she was trying to escape the party when it went down. Yeah. Okay. Absolutely. Same lady. Okay. Well, then I do my research. I do what I came for. I would imagine that's probably study, gather information from documents, newspapers, and books. Yes. It would be. Okay. I'm fairly good at that. I have the quality of this archives is going to give you a great effect. Okay. I want to add another dot though to make this successful. I haven't rolled a six all night and I want to roll one now. I believe so. I can take two stress to push to push yourself from additional dice. Okay. If you do that. Always in Charter Hall is the availability to take an additional heat or an additional dice. This is a devil's bargain that is always on the table in Charter Hall. Always to crime to find information. I offered but it was not accepted necessarily by pestling that you could take burning Briar along in your lantern. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. I wanted that for sure. Yeah. He can assist. Like he has enough stress to help out and he's good at research. Okay, I'll take another exercise. But if you give him a subset of the data, he can handle figuring out certain bits of it for you. Yes. I pretend that the lantern is helping me with my poor eyesight and actually it's Briar looking over some archives along with me and some documents. So when you come back to the table, he's spread out to multiple candles. He's reading several books at Ron's. Excellent. He offers some facts. I add a stress. Oh, I will be up to and study four dice at this wonderful archives. Okay, this is a gathering information. So risky situation with great results. Go ahead and roll. Come on, big six. Yes. Finally. There's your six. So I got a six and a bunch of other numbers, but the important one is the six. Yes. As a complete success, you are able to find Lysander Havelton's family. He is fortunately the bachelor of a physiognomists family, a group of alchemists who specialize in the alchemicals of physical bodies. What is he reside? He himself resides in a smaller domicile and charter hall district. Okay, I jot down the address just in case. I think with that, we are back to busy and Gordon. The two of our folks are hopping rooftops and escorting underlings, respectively. That's not respectively. That's inverse, respectively. Great, right. But you all wander up on the dimmer sister's satellite estate. It's one that Gordon has stolen from before, in the form of seedlings for moonflowers. Well, you know, it's his way around a little bit. Yeah, he's been on the estate. Allegedly. Oh, I could prove it, but. Yeah. So at some point, I separate myself from my group because I'm assuming that's what he usually does when he gets here, when he goes to meet with the sister. Yes. John says, sir, last time we were here, there was a bit of a scuffle that broke out. Reports indicate these people have been uncooperative recently. I don't want to say you don't know what's happening here, but I don't want you to be alone if shit should hit the fan part of my saying. I don't know how many reports you read, but last time there was a conflict here. And I want to make sure that you aren't without aid, should that happen again? The last group had to retreat. I wasn't even there for that, was I? Nope. That was ghost threatening people away from the estate. The last time I wasn't here, it was you from what I heard they had to talk with somebody and they kind of got scared away. I do not scare that easy and he was part of that group, right? He received ports from that group. Oh, he received ports from the group. He was about to read the busy work because you can't be bothered. Right, right. Obviously, they were in over their heads. So I think if I go, I should be able to handle this no problem. I don't want to bring anybody who's going to get scared or run away or have a problem again. So I think I got this. Give us a roll for... I'm going to sway him. That works well. Are you having any help here? Is it just your dice? Am I right there or am I watching from above or I'm not clear on what's happening? You've been jumping from rooftop to rooftop. I think that where you're at is one of the lower ones as we get towards the water side. So I don't have a problem with you overhearing, but you are not in earshot or disguise even to give any sort of... Makes sense. But that doesn't mean you can't provide a distraction. I'm going to take too stress to add a die of the command I'm working on getting and learning how to use. So basically, he should back down and... An alternative to pushing yourself is a devil's bargain. Right. No stress, but introduces complexity later. Okay. What would that be before I commit to these two stress? What you've told the dimmer sister so far is that you have strings on DeGelos and that he can be swayed one way or the other. I think the complexity here will be that they find out you've replaced him and want to leverage that against you. Yeah. I think I'd rather take too stress and try to talk him into backing off and go up myself. My other thought was to take some players with me and throw him to the wolves. Okay. That's another option. Or who to the wolves? This idiot. I'm drilling a mine here and keeping some focus on the wolves. What I was going to say is that you can fight against a clock and destroy it. In which case, that would probably look like you throwing this guy to the wolves. Where you say he's been compromised, nothing he says can be trusted. He needs to be burned from the organization. Like you can fight against clocks to untick them, but I will be ticking this clock as the beginning of that. No, I'm kind of confused here. You're talking about this? You can get a free dice without spending stress that this guy will gain suspicion on you. If you burn him, you can fight against people who believe in him and just get rid of the clock, but it will take effort on your part to throw him under the boss and say, "This guy's fucked. We can't believe him," etc. Right. But that will take either downtime actions or something during a heist when you have the option or a score rather. Or I could just take too stress and add a die. Yeah. Is there something down the line later or you can just spend too stress? I was originally just going to say for a simplicity book, let's just spend too stress, but I think I want to bury this guy. Okay. That's cool. Esteban rats you out. And you can fight this by tarnishing his reputation. Right. He's going to get one tick on this. Go ahead and roll with an extra dice without spending any stress. So I'm running sway, plus one die, mighty risky. At the moment. Yeah. And standard effects? Yep. No. Great effect because you're supposed to be a superior. Right. I got a fight. Do it with a consequence. I think I already have a consequences. He do. Yeah. He's going to build in. He's going to tick this twice. But feel free to bury him under the ground because he's only halfway there and he has six to go or three to go. But that can be a long term project or it can be something you do during a score. For now, he swallows his disagreements and says, as you say, sir, I will stay back here. More importantly, you don't hear any desperate kind of alarm raised from Gordon as he keeps an eye on the underlings you've left behind. Right. Now you're talking about me keeping a coin to pay them, but I thought they paid me. I'm confused. They are a lower organization than you. I think you mostly keep one on hand because it's sometimes a give and take. Uh huh. Well, it's like they paid me and nothing bad has happened. So I give them one of them back. There's a good well thing like, yeah, it's a free floating. Make sure nothing happens and we'll continue to have a relationship sort of thing. Okay. The dimmer sisters contact you are familiar with is Rosin Torkin. From what you've gathered, she's the tinkerer of the group. There's one that you know is in charge of the spark craft side of things, the electrical technology, whatnot, right? And the dimmer sisters have another one who's in charge of the spiritual side of things. Rosin is there more arcane side of things. She knows how to make a deal with the undead, make a circle to bind them, make a lasting agreement with them. He's an arcane ghost talker. As opposed to the spark craft element, yeah. She is halfway deep into a book. You've apparently been whitelisted, which is to say your disguise passes ghost inspection and you pass into the establishment. She puts a finger, pulls a bookmark down on where she was as she turns to you. She's got a couple of lit candles in a circle around her. She's basically going to say, nice to see you again. Just want to conclude our business and go. There's a bunch of pressing things that have come up that I can't spend a lot of time here today. I just need to do our business and as quickly as possible continue on my way. I don't want to stay a chitchat too long. She leans back towards her desk, pulls out a drawer and a sack of coins. She says, and I return the favor, if you stay out of our business. She casts eyes, a scance. You can't quite see where she's looking at, but this flickers the attention of Breyer, where a subtly lit green candle catches a glimpse of hers and she says, I hope this is the last we have to deal with one another. It's like a little inner hurry to get out and then I'm like, are you so tired of me? Should you not wish to see me again? I just wish we don't get in one another's way, such again. I'm wondering what kind of way did he get in the way of before? Grades and spirits, you destroy them. Oh, well, yeah. Well, you know how things are around here. Ever changing. She gives you a graceful nod, hopes that that's enough. Give me. What do you think this is? This is kind of short, it's a kind of someone you've had dealings with before. It's a contact. I agree with that. Maybe this one I'll spend to stress on, so I don't, I don't need her mucking in my. Let me tell you what the risks are first. Okay. It's controlled. Your group has established a relationship with her and the effect is great, controlled and great. Do you want to spend your XP about it or spend your stress about it? Well, you can chance it to what happens. Make it interesting. Ooh, that's a good partial success at four high out of the three numbers. Okay. I think this is where we involve Gordon. I'm ready. Our fellow spirit, Warden, who has been questioning our friend is searching for an inn. He has perpetrated the grounds and he's trying to sneak up on the conversation between busy and rosine. This is going to result in a risky position for our friend here, a risky position for you to distract. This is all outdoors. Still or is it? Still outdoors. It's a garden. It's like a plaza of sorts. Right. And this guy's coming in from the outside into this garden. Yeah. Esteban is breaching the perimeter trying to make his way through the reeds that you stole seeds from the moon blossoms, largely. So do I know who this is? It's the second in command. It's the only person you've seen give any sort of response to what is supposed to be Warden DeGelos, your ally here. What would be the consequences of him passing away? Do I know that in this situation? From what you've learned of his position of command, it can happen. It just better be in result of some sort of supernatural occurrence. You can make such a noise if you wish to. You can rile the dead here. Do it, Gordon. This is the devil's bargain to give you an additional dice. If you wish to sharpshoot on this person, it's going to be a hunt roll, but you're going to have an additional die to dose this bullet with your blood. I don't so much have a gun. That's part of this game is that you can say in a flashback, I have a pistol, and that's just one load as your total? Yeah, I get that, but I'm really shitty at that. I have nothing. So I concentrate on my throwing knives. That works too? Okay. Okay. I'm not sure I want to. Let's say you take a second to sneak up and he's at a window. But he hasn't cried out yet. And you can tick off a blade or two and say you're using your sneak attack prowl type action. Yes. If you wish, an additional die to rouse the dead. Yeah, why not? So prowl? Crowl. So long as you tick off a blade or two on your equipment. Okay. I'm not sure I want to kill him, I was just going to like. You don't have to for a blade or two. You can throw it anywhere. Get him in the foot. If I can. Something like that. Yeah. The spirits will complicate things, but you don't have to kill them about it. Okay. And so what are the parameters here? It is a risky position that you don't get caught while sneaking up so close. Okay. Is there a plus one then for the devil's bargain or is it? Yes. This is a devil's bargain. I don't think I said that a lot. I'm sorry. But you get an additional die for devil's bargain. You have a fine shadow cloak. If you are willing to tick that end of later to, you are capable of being in a controlled position while you angered the dead. Well, that is what I do the effective standard. I think the equipment the Tesla gave you earlier enables it to be great. Okay. So roll to five. That's a partial success. You suffer harm, complication occurs, reduced effect, or you end up in a desperate situation. You nail the stagger into his leg. He is peering through a glass and on busy zend, or you see rosene cast glances. After the flame that is brighter, you see her cast a glance towards the glass, at which point our friend drops out of it, and there is a howling outside the estate. This does not perturb rosene at all. She reaches out with a hand and says, then we are understood. This shouldn't be, and she gestures to the window, a problem, fourth going. She's speaking to busy. Yeah. This is her deal to busy. She hears a scream, especially through the window. I mean, when you said a how, was that a ghost how or the dude who just got stabbed in the foot how? Yes. Both. Yeah. Both. She hears both of these and says, then we have an agreement. I mean, this can continue. No more spying. Just what we do and what you do in our two separate districts. I'm probably embarrassed, I'm supposed to be coming up here to talk to her on my own. And obviously, one of my guys outside just screamed, who's not supposed to be there. And she probably knows, I don't want him there either, no more than she does. Yeah. So I'm offering you a coin to walk away with. Yeah. So I'm probably grabbing the coins and looking like pissed off and fine. I'm upset that this idiot's out there and I'll deal with it and, yeah, you know, we got a deal. But at the same time, I'm thinking, I'll take your coin and leave and I'll burn these bridges later. And I don't care what the hell happens. Okay. Are you willing to burn a stress to make a distraction such that the rest of the crew doesn't want to be involved? Sure. Then, as far as busy slash, Degas is concerned, he can wave the rest of his crew off. Our lieutenant got too involved. Leave it. We'll leave an additional die and command. And what are you saying here? That if you want to command the rest of your crew to fuck off, we don't deal with what just happened. They'll obey you. You have an additional die if Gordon is willing to lead him off or something. Yeah. To say fuck off, we made a deal, ignore Esteban and Esteban will get eaten by ghosts. So we'll erase that clock. Is this busy choice? Yeah. So long as you're saying that you're adding a die to it. Yeah. I'm supporting him. Yeah, sure. Okay. It was the idea anyway, so. You can erase this clock if you succeed. If you partially succeed, we'll figure out what that means. If you fail, then we know what that means. He fought them off. So this is command. He said. Yeah. You have an additional die here because of the help of Gordon, because I have no dots. I have no dots in command yet. So you have one for now. Uh huh. So I'm rolling one die for this. Good luck. I believe in you. Can you do anything to increase that? Do you have any stress you can burn? Oh, I'll burn too. I'll burn too. Stressed. Keep yourself another die myself, another die. That ought to do it. Mm hmm. I sense a six coming up to six is risky and. Greater standard. What am I doing here? You're still in charge. So great. It is risky because they're worried about the comrade. He's basically getting attacked by ghosts and I'm telling the guys, you know, it's a fuck off. We made a deal. This guy made a basically he made a mistake and he paid for it. Yeah. He went in without you guys. So fuck him. He's dead. Yep. That's fair. All right. Let's roll for for I did it, but there's a consequence. Yeah. Or cause always that nor harm or desperate action. What if I take a what if I take a harm? Because maybe I helped and got hurt in the process or something. Okay. Yeah. You can spend a risky as a level to harm. I will say that it's supposed spirit wardens get harmed every once in a while anyways. Yes. If you want to spend an additional to stress, okay, spirit warden is able to resist. You don't have the traditional training of a spirit warden, which is why it costs you an additional stress, but most spirit wardens can teslin. Can you tell me what it cost for iron will or what is iron will you you're immune to the water that's that some supernatural entities inflict on site, take plus one die to resist roles with resolve. That's what it says in my special ability for. Yeah. You may expend special armor to resist a supernatural consequence or push yourself whenever you deal with supernatural arcane forces. I was reading warded in my head. I think that the equivalent of that is pushing yourself to assume that ability in your state of impersonation. So can you again repeat what a heck I'm trying to do here and what I'm rolling. Yeah, normally someone with training as a spirit warden can tick off special armor, right, which lets them resist freaking out or spirit attacks, but you don't have that. So to maintain that facade, you will have to spend to stress, okay, right in through the stress. Yeah, to not succumb to the spirit's influence as you fight off Esteban's aggressor and save him. That's if you want to do that, I thought I was the idea was we wanted Esteban dead. Right. He doesn't want to save him. He wants to make it look like he's helping, right? If you want to make it look like you tried, then I want to fight off. Maybe I can fight off or scare off Esteban's aggressor, but oh, look at that. He died. Okay. That's one. He died while I tried to save him. Yeah, that's one stress. And then I got wounded in the process. Yeah, let's say that. And you've got a I'm not sure what's appropriate for was Esteban possessed and he attacked you or was a did a ghost graze you kind of a ghost wound could I have. It might be like a afraid of, you know, confronting ghosts again, or go ahead. I'm worried that Esteban or whatever his name is may come back as a ghost and haunt me. I could throw another knife just to confuse the issues and wound you in a not too bad place. I'm volunteering that. I'm volunteering. I'm volunteering to stab you again. I think who are you talking to the woman? I'm sorry. I forgot the name. Right now. I'm just I'm going home. I know that that has changed, but we're talking. She's still watching, right? I'm sure she's the third freaking property. So yeah, at the end of the day, our friend has to answer to his superiors. So the spirit wardens at large, I mean, who has to answer? I guess busy to be DeGelos. And yeah, it could be under the guise of having been wounded by a friend who was possessed. Could it be this a social harm because I have to explain why my person command died? I would like a role from Gordo to make sure he aims correctly because otherwise this is fucking hurts. So I'm trying to get a wound from Gordo instead of a wound from the ghost. Yeah. I'm not sure you get a choice, but it's nice to know what your references is at the end of the day. How well do you aim? Yeah, did I pick up any stress at all with the devil's bargain or anything else at this point? No, you've dodged such. Okay. I can take another stress just to make sure this works because I have three infinites and that would be four. And I think I'm going to do that. Makes sense for us. What do you got? This will be risky and standard. Skis standard and plus one, using two stress, pushing myself. If you wish to. Yeah. We're oh, golly gee, well, of course, nobody can roll six today. We're just piling on the consequences. We'll suffer from complication occurs. Okay. I would like to tick twice the reconciled operating against you. They know much about the ghost modderings in the city and the fact that you let a spirit warden go reaches back to them, even if they don't know that it's not a spirit warden. You're talking about Gordon doing this. Yeah, a blade hits a spirit warden as far as they're concerned. And you do a level one harm of limping. If you hit the bloodmark, this is something that will persist. You have to see a doctor about it. Me. I have a limping. Yes. This is for busy. I'm sorry. I'm just thinking it's about time I saw Rosalind. You will. Give us some downtime. Do I know I have my limping leg wound and my level one, herm box. The pleasantly spaced will go away, right, but the limping will take a minute, right? Okay, then I've ticked the ghosts figure out about this, which is to say, the reconciled plot continues as the ban is not going to rent me out. No, he parishes. If you wish, yes, then he does. And Esteban Raziak goes away and you make it back, carrying his body limping as a result and all the more believable for that, yes, motoring under my breath of I pulled him to stay behind. And but I'm saying I'm telling the men as I go up to make the report that I'm sure I'm going to have to make is he would only listen to me. I had everything under control. Damn. He put me in a dam full, put me into a situation, got himself killed. All right. Then I think with that, we'll make our way for the night. We know who Warden DeGolos is. We have a corpse to account for. It is not DeGolos, which your patron will be glad for. And you can make your excuses as such. It's not hard to make what you need to say. What happened here? Yep. It can even be a reduced heat if you want to. Reduced. What? A reduced heat is a downtime action where you get rid of someone died. I need to get rid of the seat. So we're going to be resolving some of these things and downtime? Yep. Mostly the heat you've gotten. Yeah. Am I stress that I've accumulated? As well. Yeah, for sure. For experience, we typically start with the youngest. Yeah. I got mine written up if we're ready. I was thinking about it while you guys were running. Go ahead. Sure. At the end of each session for each item below, mark an XP. You just need a challenge with technical skill or mayhem. May the drugs for the spirit warden. A little bit of the mag cap experimentation on cats and such that we established when we got back to HQ. But most of that was just background stuff. So one for that. Beliefs drives heritage or background. I hung about to help test on with the demon magic spread out my consciousness so I could be in multiple places. And then there was also just running my lab, but I don't know, one for that one as well. And lastly, struggle with issues from the vices or traumas during the session. Just the trauma. I've got a little bit of unstable when I bother to reveal the nature of our kidnapping, if not quite in plain terms, to miss almost second drop. I've written down. That's helpful, rather than try and just impress upon her how much we are helping this young man. I was like, fuck that. He's a danger and we're taking him out and you're going to deal with that. So three, yes, I agree with that. Okay, I had no desperate actions during the session tonight. You addressed a challenge with knowledge or arcane power. I believe I did that probably twice in the sense that I used my arcane power to slow dega-loast down and add advice to the capture of him when he was being knocked out by busy. You spent a stress about it. That's good. Yeah. I also addressed a challenge with knowledge when I went to the college and researched dega-loast's past in his personal life. So is that too? Yes. I think the complications from that is more than enough. Okay. You expressed your beliefs, drives, heritage or background. I don't know. I did do something with, well, maybe that's from the research as well. I don't know that I talked too much about my, I talked a little about Lord Pendren in the sense that I have a message delivered for him now from Mildred Kellis, but I don't know about drives. Well, maybe drives, I don't, maybe it's double dipping though, dega-loast was obviously the one who came into the seance we were having and broke up the archive of echoes. So my drive was to get revenge on him and in any way possible. And I think I did that, but if you don't want me to double dip, I understand because there's a ready one for using my magic to trip him up and help to capture him. I think that's true and the reason you picked this contract in the first place, I will put down that the agreement between Mildred Kellis meeting Pendren is going to be pending XP. I'm writing down like a pending XP track. Okay. I got two for the first one. Did I get one for the drive here or are you putting it into a holding pattern until that for capturing dega-loast, that drive? You said something about it and understand whether you meant no or yes. That's fair. Expressed your beliefs, drives, heritage or background. So I hated him, I wanted him caught, but- I think that you spent stress about it. You are getting an extra XP. It is that you will get an additional one if you managed to unite Pendren and Mildred Kellis. Okay. But I don't get one tonight for that particular belief or drive. You get one, you don't get two, so three at the moment. Okay, thank you. That's why I thought you said I wasn't sure. I struggled with issues from a vice trauma during this session. The only thing I did was put my hand in my pocket to hide it from Mildred because I'm self-conscious. I don't think it's enough for an experience point. So I don't think I did enough with that tonight to earn anything. I agree. If it resulted in less dice or something. Right, but you two separated before that became a thing. Okay, I'm putting them into insight and prowess. That's the end of my experience. You're up just next to the most would be Jim, busy, busy at a busy night. Yeah, I did stuff. You sure did. Accepting my challenge with the subsequent influence is what I did all night. Yeah, there's two for that for sure. Taking your belief drives heritage or background, aside from my drive to make money while I'm doing this, that's about it. I can agree that you made out with two coin, looting what you can from his pockets. Yeah, she paid me, I don't know, whatever. It's one XP, three total for now. Yeah. I said, and struggling with issues for vice or traumas, I mean, I did have a trauma where I was drug, but really didn't play into it too much. And but I did get traumas as I was ending the session. So I don't know if it was struggling, but I did get trauma. You got some harm. Trauma is like a. Oh, trauma is a permanent situation. Yeah. It's something busy might want for XP reasons, but not something anyone would want for real life reasons. Yeah. But when you get a trauma, that's a kind of like a permanent thing, right? Yes. It's a permanent thing you tick off and say, I have this aspect now, if I ever hit on it, I get XP. I got you. So what do I got here? Three. Yeah. Three sounds like. I think I'm going to get a tick in command. Because I'm learning how to do that now. You have enough experience at this point. I agree. Yeah. And then just going to my one on spent one, I'll probably stick and pronus and I am all set. Okay. My turn. Please. Yeah. Yes. Ghost. Didn't have any desperate actions and she did have, you address the challenge with violence or coercion? I did assist prior in coercion and violence, but I was drugs. Thomas, did you take a digital dice for that? For what? Coversing Olna. I don't think so. I think I did. I'd have to look back on it now. Yeah, I only see one consort that I rolled. But you only have one dice and it rolled two. I see two consort that I rolled and they both, there's two and then three, but I don't know. That was a week ago rolling backwards. I'm looking after the picture of Olma. Yeah. No. I rolled one dice. Whoops a day. And you only have one consort, right? That's the one I can see within this week. Yeah. I don't think it was actually with the warden. So just then. Yes. You get to. Oh, no. I rather you hit on that once. Okay. You express your belief drives heritage or background. I definitely used my X blue coat. Yes. I believe that hits just because you didn't fail on the roll doesn't mean it didn't hit. Right. I'm trying to think if I did it a second time, my belief, my drive, my heritage. I don't want to double dip on the Olma second drop. Yeah. That's what I was going to kind of suggest. So I understand that. So too, it's fine. All right. I believe this is Gordon, yeah. What determines if it's a desperate action? Is that something that has to be announced or? It's like a category. You roll in and I don't think Gordon ever really. No. Yeah. John says like this is you're performing a desperate action. Like I see. Yeah. It's bad. Right. And then you get special stuff for that. Yeah. I don't think Gordon was ever in the cross hairs on that. No. You just a challenge with stealth or evasion. That's pretty much all I did. You did all day long. Yeah. I would say too on that. You are always in the corners throwing things or suggesting things. Yeah. Expressed to your belief, strives heritage or background. I always struggle with that one. I'm not even sure how to do that, but I didn't. If it drives you to endangering yourself, like if a belief puts you in harm's way. Like visiting Rosalind against her parents wishes. Right. Yeah, because we will leave a belief or a drive for you like that's your your main focus in your life, you know, sure. Which brings up the last one here struggle with issue from your vice or traumas during the session and maybe I didn't make that clear, but that's I mentioned it once. It's like, are we done yet? Then I will add it to my additional plus one XP if let me put it this way. I think Mildred's dipping into the archive of echoes records has put the family under her investigation. And you will be at risk for visiting Rosalind. Yeah, that kind of occurred to me already, but okay, it makes sense. So too. Yeah, too. And potential for I am writing down that you will get a third if you do such and such in the next session. Right. Okay. Um, so like I wrote, I rolled in a tune just to see what it'd be like with no dice is that would be rolling a desperate action. Let me see here. Just to see what it when it says every time you roll a desperate action. So so you told me to do something that required a tune and I rolled it and I got no points on it. That's a desperate action. Right. Is that because you have zero points on the tune? Right. No, actually. So then he has a category above. There's controlled risky and then there's desperate. Ah, so if I would have, so if I would have did that, it would have been desperate. Yep. And you fail both times. I'm sorry. Yeah. But we're not playing it. It's mostly like how many wounds are you willing to take for a failure? Right. If you succeed, then good for you. If you fail, I'm sorry. That's like a level three harm. I got you. Okay. Then I think we're on the same page for those mechanics. The visiting Rosalind plus one XP, Heat for Gordo and I think I've got everyone's bonus XP opportunities for the next session. Excellent. Unless anything else creeps up, there's always opportunities to gain more XP. These are just the ones that occur to me in the moment. Okay. Okay. There's a lot of juggle tonight, John. So a nice job. We split up into like three different groups. Yeah. I had to make sure there were people involved in each. But thank you. Yeah. That was very challenging. Very well. It was a game master. Yeah, it definitely worked. Well, it could be expected with three separate groups. That was awesome. Okay. Thank you. Sure. This has been plays in the dark campaign machinations. I've been your GM, John for the exchange and thanks for listening. Good night, everyone. Good night. Thank you for listening tonight's of the night actual play podcast. It was a pleasure meeting you. I had not met her before, right? She helped you divvy up the archive of echoes before the spirit once hit it. That's who this is. Okay. Never name in my notes somewhere and just completely forgot. I believe she was just referred to as an aunt of the Rosalind family. She obviously adopted another name when she married as is custom. Oh, no. Went to the archive of echoes and found Mildred Kellis. It's in my notes. It's just a few paragraphs above where I was taking notes at this time, so I did not remember. But okay. Well, then in that case, I don't say. It's a pleasure to meet you, I say. Is there any other information besides the fact that he's a bachelor of a physiomist family? That he receives patronage by the family of... It's one of the city council families that has uplifted him. I just put down to be determined, TBA for the family name in the city council. Mm-hmm. I can get it. I just don't want to hold everyone up. I want to give something for other people to think about while I figure this out. Because it's in my notes. I'm just having trouble finding it. That's okay. I think I'm just basically going to give her the, I guess it's... He's a better talker than I am. Yeah. Absolutely. But he's basically going to say, you know, no. Other possible titles for this episode that were available for voting at the Facebook nights of the night fans page were the bachelor of a physiognomist's family. What would be the consequences of him passing away in your state of impersonation? And we are just piling on the consequences.
