(upbeat rock music) Hello, welcome to Night to the Night actual play fight podcast, this Dresden File Adventure. Passages was written and run by GM time. And now, please enjoy episode 268, titled "Two Bodies in a Bucket Full of Dog." Actual play begins 10 minutes, 36 seconds. (upbeat rock music) That's not here, let's put the feedback. We got an email at feedback@kiotiumpodcast.com from Joel M who said, "Howdy folks, like many others, I started listening to your podcast to see how a system I was planning on running worked." After the knowledge dump and some Facebook chats with Tom, I stayed because of the excellent storytelling and player characterization. Your group does what I'm trying to get my group to do. Focus on role playing instead of role that dice playing. And it does it exceptionally, entertainingly and enthusiastically well. I drive on the order of 1,000 miles a week for my job and I have a chance to listen to just about everything that you've put out and enjoyed mostly all of it. (laughing) That's a wildfire there, that's what you're doing. (laughing) Question begging statement. Just like in a long form effort, there are highs and lows. But what is astonishing to me is that the ratio of highs to lows is well high. That speaks to the dedication and pure love of what you folks do to put out a consistently entertaining and informational product. For what it's worth, my KOTN journey has been a no way linear. It started with rituals then sin-eater, then fire, then fifth edition, then shitlock, then chagrin, then delivery, then clockwork scars and now I'm finishing off with sand mumble mumble. I guess you can remember the name. (laughing) For the new mania. For the new mania, I don't need them. I will catch up on the current Dresden after I'm done wiping the stand out of my ears. One question I do have is I did not find a search button on the web page and I'm trying to find the videos mentioned for the feedback section of sand mumble mumble. Am I blind? Is there a link to them or am I just not seeing it? Okay, question number two. In my long drives, I sometimes am frequently bored. So what does siren stand for? And he has about four different guesses, special investigative regarding extra natural. Someone interested in really nodding and CIA revealed extraordinary nights. I don't remember. I know, that's a bad part. Sketching out here currently and I don't recall. We did have an acronym, wasn't it? Yes, it's-- Isn't it on one of the cards? Special investigation? Or was it-- I don't remember. It was the character cards. Jack up. What is it? I don't know. We weren't even here for the beginning of the month. Oh, that's right. Well, we literally don't know. She's slow or sad. It's got to be down here shortly to join us. So we'll try to get the answer for that. And that was another question there. Yes, question number two was about-- or actually question number one-- was about finding-- there's no search button on the web page, which there is not. And the videos that were mentioned, the only videos I can think of is one that Jason made for us, which are on YouTube. And he's right. Those are on the KOTN fan page. I believe, because I want to look at a few of them. That's a long way to go. Yeah. And it's also a KOTN wiki that Jason did. And I think there's links in there. I think so. Now, to get to it, I think if you go to our KOTN page on the right-hand side, there's a wiki link. And there you'll find it. If not, I'll make sure there is a link on that. Regardless, thank you, Joel M, for the email. We also had a post on KOTNPodcast.com. Our blog site, this was under the Dressing Files RPG section. This was from Zebastman. - Zebastman? - Zebastman, zebastman, zebastman, zebastman. And he said, I loved listening to these. They're extremely helpful all around. The only negative I found was the following. I know Munchies are a cultural necessity, but seriously. On some of these tracks, the only thing I noticed at times was the crunching and swooping sounds. (laughing) - Scott. - Again, Scott's not here right now. But he is the worst of those. And we attempt to prevent that from happening. So, earlier ones will be worse than current ones. But even as recent as last week, the one I'm currently adding, has Scott talking while eating. And I will bring this up as a virtual bitch slap to make him, hopefully, be more concerned brothers than manners. - Teach me, teach me, younger brothers and manners. - Over on Facebook, episode 26. - 'Cause I worked so well. - Yes. - Yeah, he sees how old now. - Over on Facebook, episode 266 titled "Double Bagget." R-E-J posted. - The whole bagget? - Yes. - Okay. (laughing) - What was that returning to? - I said that, but I don't remember something. - I don't. - Mike was playing it safe, and I just said, yeah, it never hurts. - It's a double bag. (laughing) - Okay. - Okay. - They're two plastic grocery bags, you know. - Jarr-- - That's what I was thinking about. - Jarr-E-A. R-E-J posted and said, "Note, my account has not been stolen. "I'm on vacation, so there's no need for long drives." - And I was listening to this while I was on my afternoon walk. - Vacation's everyone, we take the longest drives. - Yeah, the two get there, right. - But they question live in America, where? - They're a long drives. - We measure drives in hours, instead of miles or kilometers. - There's no papers at the borders. - Oh, our beach vacation is 12 to 17 hours away, or whatever it is, I don't know. - You know, the distance from London to Paris is smaller than Cleveland or Cincinnati. - It is. Just saying. - Does that blow your mind? - It's like 20 miles less. - Seriously, when I think about how in Nick Europe, you go the length of a state, and it's a different culture, a different language, a different entire country, and they're all France and League. You know, all that in the same areas like New England, or, you know, our, what we would travel for me to go to Disney, is all that other place. It's just-- - That's a different accent. You get on the Cincinnati coast, you get a bit of southern twine to the speech pattern, but it's not an entirely different culture, or with a different language, with a different-- (laughing) - I put the school down there, and they had a lot of different word culturals. - Thank you, brother. - Hey, what, I'm sorry. - Jason M also posted and said, "I based my concept of truth solely upon listening "to this podcast and on your drive to work. "My universe is collapsing. "This is purely relative." R.E.J. posted again and said, "Well, that walkabout must have increased "my crazy man points in the town "as I was giggling and goodfying around the neighborhood. "It is safer to listen in the car." Also, Scott upped the ante for when he finally announced he might be making changes to London aspects, gasps, and a nice cliffhanger time. That's when they ended with-- - Rupple, rupple, rupple, rifle, rifle, rifle. - It's rifle and shooting. - And then we just stopped there. - Oh, that's great. - Yeah. - It was good, it was a good shot. Luke G. posted as well regarding the ability to be trusted is not the same as worthy of being trusted. - Yeah. - That's true. - Be capable of trust? Doesn't mean you're worthy of it. - I somehow think this has to do with the owner, Roberto, but I'm not sure how. - I imagine he means that just because you were given trust doesn't mean you're worthy of it. - The ability to be trusted is not the same as worthy to be trusted. - I don't see trust as an ability. That doesn't make sense. - Yeah, everybody has the ability to be trusted because it's not something that does for you. - Yeah, you're not personally. - At work, the guy that's on the highest level, just put out a statement that said trust put verify. And I don't understand that because if you're verifying, you're not trusting. - First of all, it's a quote from what I was reading. - I know. - Yeah. - I understand that. - Absolutely, I understand that. I still don't agree with that statement in it. - Well, just remember that trust is a vital ingredient of betrayal. There you go. - Trust, but don't trust. - And how can we go on? We'll just go to Facebook at episode 267, which was titled like an empty juice box. R.E.J posted and said it was a go. Also, a whole lot of one liners. And Tom, did you pun in there with dances away? I don't think that was a pun. - I won't. - I won't take. - That was post of the definition of a pun, but. (laughs) - And I was not a winner myself. - No, I wasn't. Also, just as I was pondering the suitability of the background music, there came that concussion sound effect. They caught me off guard and it was brilliantly edited. Just brilliant. - Very nice. - Thank you. Over on Facebook still, we had the upcoming clockwork map, a couple people posted. Chris N posted and said what program do you use to design this scat? Do you have any preferred mapping software to which Scott responded that he's photoshopped because that's the thing he's comfortable with? - There are a lot of editing programs out there, but that's when he uses. - You did a lot of nice work at that photoshopped. - Yeah, he did. That's a really good map. Chris N posted again and said, "Well, it's a great looking map and I'm very impressed. I can't wait to hear it put into play." - That's a shame 'cause he came away in the wall. - It'll be a while. - I'm not terribly fond of the next adventure. - Scott posted again and said, "Thanks Chris, I spent entirely too much time on this kind of thing. It's my zen relaxation thing. Whenever I get feel stressed or drained of creativity, I break out the maps. I'm not sure how I'm actually married a real life girl." - None of us are. - No. There was an argument about how to spell our pronounced domain. - Dude, that's where domain comes from. - Well, domain. - Yeah. - But oh, as opposed to domain. - Which is spelled entirely, it's got an S in it. - It's a French word. - Yeah. - It was in the parentate papers and they make fun of it in the parentate papers. - I told Scott you stole a bunch of things from Jim Butcher. - Which he doesn't know. - No. - It's like those French have a different word for everything. - We passed it. - And refer back to previous conversation. Scott e posted a link of a YouTube video that showed clockwork inspiration, which was really cool stuff. I don't know if anybody watched it. It was actually a little thing that was drawing and it was made on clockwork, basically clockwork. - Oh, is that the music thing? - No, this was a different one. That one was cool as well. - It was cool, yeah. - But that's it for the feedback. All of that over on the KOTN podcast fan page in which I don't typically release, but Stephen S posted something there that looked like he meant to put it on our main page because it says, "Thanks for the ad to the group. "I just found your podcast for the Dresden Files RPG. "I was playing one game of Dresden Files RPG "and I love your podcast. "It helps with the role systems for the game "and I'm using aspects and compels. "So keep up the fantastic cast, guys." - No problem. - Thanks. - Sometimes it's fun. And with that, we're not even gonna mention. No, 'cause if I say it, then I would've mentioned it. Good job. - Not even gonna mention it. - Don't you guys wonder what we're talking about? - No, we gotta know. Patreon and Amazon pages, but I'm gonna go right into the podcast. So enjoy. - Situational infiltration, reconnaissance, engagement, and neutralization. - All right, my name is Tom. I'm the GM of this Dresden Files game. This campaign is called Passagens, and the players who are here tonight, starting on my right, all right. - I'm Michael. Playing up out here is a chronologically gifted epidemic organic alchemist. I have four trade points. - Tom is playing Maxwell Edison on their cover homeland security operative. With, I think, two trade points right now. I spent a lot during the fight. - I might have zero. - I'm Jim playing Edward Chodowski, a powerful businessman and black court-powered scion, with two from the last session. - I am Scott playing London Deals, a moral seer to the supernatural powers. I have four trade points after taking care of that demon for everyone that's doing it. - I'm John, playing the belt of Martinez, keeper of Cleveland's coins, hard by a fallen angel. And I have one faith point from trying to save everybody who wants to be trapped by, you know. - And chaotic, well-intended. - Okay, so each session, we start with a minor milestone. It allows people to shift things around except London. - 'Cause he's perfect. - Switch skills, stunts, and spend to refresh on new stunts, powers, or rename an aspect. - I'm trying to think of an aspect that has something to do with, he has people working under him that do things for him. At first, I said I have got people to do that, but I'm trying to think of how you can use that in a good way or a bad way. - How about something like, I'm too busy for that, I have people. - There you go. - So sometimes you don't have the knowledge right on your fingertips, but you're gonna have to take the time to go and get it from someone else. - That could be the downside. And then the upside could be, we need lots of shit done really fast, I got people. - Okay, well that would be my renaming aspect, 'cause I'm too busy, I got people to do that. - I'm thinking of picking up a stunt, lethal weapons to make my fists attack stronger. - The place we ended last week was, I bleed down in Braxville. Late in the evening, you guys had just defeated a ritual, summoned demon. - Well, you didn't stop that. You didn't stop the summoning. - I would call it a loss, but okay. - You have some occultists here, you have smell of brimstone and a closing-- - Hellgate. - Portal, hellgate is good, for sure. - Roberto, go through it, go through the hellgate. Tell me what it's like. - No. - What? - Dasp. - Roberto, don't go through that hellgate. - Roberto, run in the opposite direction. - I see a shiny coin on the other side. - It's like 30. - It's late at night, you have some cleanup here today. - Clean up, yes, yes. - You can't clean up the woman that I shot, she's stable. - She's fine, she's stabilized here. - Yeah, she's stable, but she is also hurt and probably a good idea that, yeah, I don't know, drop her off at some time. - We have two nonhertz ones, aren't bleeding because they were taken down with blunt force trauma. She means they may have internal bleeding, but I don't think I'm that good at punching people. - You just became that good. - I am now that good. - Oh, so this, that would get-- - It's much more effective than this. - I mean, people got burned. Did anyone get burned? - Yeah. - No, he had it. - Honestly, the speed ring glass I need to write. - It's so nice, not ask you. - The warden had a magical item to award hellfire that prevented anyone from actually getting burned. - Yes, that's what it was. I thought we were all gonna get scorched, but I think I know I got some sort of things. Hellfire magnet. - He'd sink. - He'd sink. - All right, what are you doing? - Yep. - One didn't go. - One wants to question the three people who are, well, one is wounded now, the other two are subdued. - One is shot, the other two are not unconscious. - Right. - Well, we should probably question them, hopefully a non-I piercing interrogation, maybe back at one of Edmund's holding cells, perhaps to see what the situation is. That would be my-- - Wait, are they vampires? - No. - Why the fuck would I poke their eyes out? - I don't murder people. - Well, you know, Christy Bruce is a dude now, right? - A what? - A regular guy. - They are demon possession, so it's a lie. - I mean, sure, not at the time, but I mean, apparently not every time. - Retroactively, you're bad. - Right. - Oh, you got me. - Dead the rights. - Anyway. - So that would be my suggestion, and we should probably leave here because there's large bonfires in-- - My suggestion? - Sure. - Tell me. - Always interested. - Is to take them to the priest. - Because right here, they have demons-- - Yeah, he's here. - Because they have demons in them. - Yeah, what's your event? - What do you want to talk about? - They could have demons, don't we? - Don't sit in front of Roberto. - They have evil demons in that way. They have evil demons they can't control in them. - That's better. (laughs) - They're demons with no soul right now. - Well, the Francis comes over and starts to do the prayer thing over what I want. - The injured one. I exercise the injured one. We need to talk to the demons and the other two. - She starts to respond adversely to his Catholic rituals. - All right, so he does say, isn't that normal? - I mean, if you're a demon and everything, the-- - Yes. - The power of oil is actually normal for most Christian points, but yeah, they administer at least as far as this one who's been shot is concerned she is being possessed. - She was one leading kind of-- - Brilliant deduction. - Through empirical study, too. - Did I shoot her on the neck? - Shutter, I think the side of the head. - With holy water. - Yeah. - She didn't seem to enjoy this. - So is that, but-- - It doesn't, it doesn't pop into the sky, right? - Yeah. - Now unless you put it-- - It does more damage to them, and that it cuts through any-- - With a sense of power that you would have to settle upon them. - Well, so does he need a more powerful ritual? Is he need like holy waters? He need to be in a church, which we say-- - What? - He might say curve. - About the other two that we think are in similar with demons inside of them. - Oh, we want to talk to them as well. - I know we want to talk to them, but we eventually want them to be-- - Let's go down. - We're on conscious at this point. He's not sure-- - If you want him to wake them up, he's not sure how damage they are, 'cause they look pretty pummeled. - We'll take them all to the church, we'll investigate them on the way back. - It's an anxious school for boys. - That is the one way we're demons. - So. - 25th of the warring? - Yes. - Right? - Yeah? - Nice. - 25th of the warring. - We want to transport them to-- - How did brother get you? - He came here in a car. I don't remember what we designated was the type of vehicle that he owned. - It's the port don't be able to stand. - Which is fine. He has enough room for, oh, maybe one unconscious body in the back seat. - Yeah, none are coming in the jacket. - But you can't really like stack them-- - We can put him in his car. - He's got a truck. - Buckle them in, lean them against the one. - He might try. - Say they're drunk. - Yeah, he's got a truck. - Put them in the truck and the police pull us over. - Get the tarp on him. Two hidden bodies in the trunk instead of two. - Tarp in your back. - I'm just trying to imagine him explaining two bodies in a bucket full of gold. - How about a trunk? - Shut up. - They would have a trunk. - You do? - No, I don't, actually. Now that we can use-- - I'm actually driving my town of the country. - Yeah, that thing's huge. - Seventh-seater. - Your trunk is like the size of us. - I don't have a trunk, but I have automobiles. - It has been previously established. - I have a large utility vehicle that I drove here with-- - Same as the sounding country, so come on. - Is windowless pedophile, babe? - Exactly, that's not suspicious either. - Free candy, my black-tinted window van. - Ice cream. Ice cream van with no windows. Awesome. Yeah, let's just get the demons back to either your detective agency or to the church. Everyone agree we should just go to the church with everything? - Yeah, well, at least one of these features. - They're bleeding, I mean, they're stable, but I don't know. - After we dispossessed, there's a word for that. It's called exercise, the injured one will have, well, London would be best, but he won't do it, so we'll have-- - What do you say I won't do without even asking me? - All right, we have a bloody person. We want you to drive them to the hospital in your car. Would you do that? - No. - However, I would drive someone else's vehicle to the hospital. - Roberto, I'm not sure-- - I'm nothing if empathetic. - I still think you're not out of anyone's truck. - There's something-- - Right, no, wait. - And a demonless wounded person to the hospital and not demon full. - Yeah, that's what I was saying. We should exercise her first, and then I just want to declare on this point, of all the cars available to drive, which would you take? Town and Country, pedophile van, or truck. - I will never set foot in his truck ever again. The pedophile van is just, it's disturbing. Town and Country, I can definitely-- - I'm thinking of accurately destroying it. - The Town and Country is fine. I would actually drive the Town and Country. - Okay. - Brother Francis says that perhaps this might work. He thinks that Ruppa is correct, that this person who's been shot is in danger. - In danger? - He could take her to the hospital and say come up with some story that he found her before the exorcism. - Yeah, just stay with her and maybe do it there. - There you go. - I don't know if they'll let you, well, you're a priest. - You can handle the hospital administration. - Right. So, I'm not really keen on driving and demon out in the middle of the hospital, filled with sick and weak people, but I see the logic. - Did I do what you gotta do? - Another option would be someone driving me there to the hospital and taking the two other individuals somewhere else, perhaps in my church. - Right, and you could perform the exorcism while they drive. - Right. - So, are you okay with the wounded woman in the back seat? - Yes. - I'll take the other two. - Does anyone ride with me? - It smells like blood. - Blood. - Blood. - Demons. None of that comes out to the end. - Not really about two years. - We could wrap him in tark, but the smell just doesn't come out. - And I would look even better. - Okay, I just remembered something. - The word now can drive in his, I'm gonna put a few little fashion pieces of shit. - He came with me. I was concentrating. - He was, he did come with you. - Yeah, well, he could drive the priest card and try to keep his powers from shorting it out while the priest does his thing so that you can all stay together. - Yeah, just drive out. - Roberto's car clearly has a toe cable. - Yeah, he just kind of loses. He passes the house from there. - Look at the light. - Coast in. - We have a lot of drivers to do this. - I'm gonna say that the warden, Alan, and the priest take the woman who is shot to the hospital. I'm the way there, she is going to be exercised or the attempt is going to be made by brothers. - Next week, we will learn that it went terribly and we worked there to help him. - Once again, the warden's soul has been severed from his body. - Are they? - No. - It's already severed, now the demons know it. - Right. - Oh shit. - Consumed. - The demons know now. - Because they didn't-- - That demon knows. - And that demon's not gonna tell anybody. - Well, maybe when he's injured. - For right now. - He's got pride, maybe he won't. I didn't exactly have enough time to form a psychological fucking method of this man. - I was just wondering if you was sitting in Demon Lodge. - Goes home, poking the screaming cell phone, calls his friends. - Sure. - It's on the demons. - 'Cause the other demons know-- - You know, you make all these jokes that we don't know what hell's like, but I told you to go there and you said no. (laughing) - Hey, we all needed to go there, just 'cause you wanted me to do it alone, doesn't make it a good idea. - I don't know. - You have a folk field advantage. (laughing) You have a literal demon in your head. Two, if I understand correctly. - You don't. Back to focus. - What's that? - Then we'll focus on 'em. You guys are left with-- - Chew. - A conscious male. - People dressed in dresses. - It appeared to have been-- - Robes, thank you. - Robes, yeah. - See, they have their wallets on 'em. Don't wear clothes on these robes. - They are, in fact, right? - They have their wallets on 'em. - And they do, in fact, have their wallets. - I'm riding with-- - They have the power of driving to the Ignatius. - They're saying Ignatius, yes. So we can do this in the church. If we can start power, generally, maybe, I don't know. Being in the church. - Is this portal closed yet? - Yeah. - The Warden checks for us. - Yes. - The Warden's long gone. - Can you tell me? He didn't check if the portal was closed. He's got the site you can do. - Yes. - If we were to come back here, do you think you could help me chase after that guy, or get me there? I don't know that you wanna come on. - Through hell? - The demon? - Yes. - Why would you chase a demon? - It knows the Warden's weakness. - I guess that's a concern. But also-- - That's not your concern. - It's not your concern, the Franco's concern. - It's not mine. - They're getting into this world from their area. So if we were to go there, we would see what this Eric, how Cleveland looks to them. Maybe we could plug the hole, or whatever the hell it is. But it's invaluable reconnaissance, either way. - I had folks who let Roberto go to hell. - Just in case anyone was wondering what London's opinion was, I think it's an excellent, excellent idea. - That's not exactly news. - Right, but it is. It's valuable reconnaissance. - I've told him on multiple engagements, just I told him to take the exact advice, and I'm glad to see him taking it. - Perhaps you can drive, and the Warden can go through the-- - You know, I'm gonna take one of those squishies in my car if we're both going to hell. - Can we come back later for this? - Now might be the best time to go. - Can you? - It's not with a brother. - It's not with a brother. - I know. - Well, nice, Dilly and Dally. - Can Repa open a portal to that? - Can I make a war roll to see if that would be useful, or be sooner than later? - You need to give me some bad stuff. I need to have the worst trip. You wind up in hell. - You would like to make a war roll to determine if you can open this portal later. - Gladly enough to-- - I didn't bring my chemistry set with me. - Can I aid him in that war roll? - I have war. - Not in his specific real house. - Fair enough. - Yup. - Is this soul related? - No. It's just world-walking related. - I would like a good, but free. - Okay. - Well, my war is four. And the minus one is three, which is good. - Okay. - So in using your skill, you take a moment, you do your thing that you do, and you can see that the gate to the demon world where it came from, it's still there, but it has moved. It has moved slightly southwest and about four or five feet. - Is it moving or just-- - Well, it wasn't working. - Well, when it certainly isn't where it was, but it's not like, you know, watching it slowly slide across the ground. It's, you're spotting it and you think you can access it and use it, but you have a feeling that if you, the longer you take the more, it's gonna wander and move. - Perhaps it's moving along the edge of the circle. And when it gets to-- - To the rotates, the whirlpool, what's at the middle? - Are we in the edge of the enamel mecca? - Yes. - Oh, we were at one of the points. That was the whole point. - Yes. - And you are not at all familiar with, and now in this case, anybody else who has lore might be involved, but you're not exactly sure how demon summoning works. - Portal's slowly moving, that's interesting to know. - How did we know that this was going to happen at this time? - The brother had discovered something going on, not him. It's going that way. We'll just go that way when we get back and look for it. Let's go. - It's a great plan. - We'll leave because going to hell seems like a bad thing to do right now. - All right, let's go. - All right, we go to church. - Church, except for-- - We need to be Lorden prepared. I got to Google what to take when you go now. - Right. Yeah, I suggest to my remarks. - You probably could do that. (laughing) - The father and-- - Al Warden, Alan, are at the hospital. He informs Roberto that he was able to exercise the demon on the travel there, and that she's being admitted, and they're getting the hell out of there. After claiming they just found her like that, and all this broken and stuff. That's what they all said. He eventually goes a little easier for a brother, a religious follow man. However, and we'll probably play this out next week, because the Warden is unable to extricate himself from the hospital. He's being questioned by Glen O'Neill. Ask him if you're being detained. That goes over really well. We'll deal with that when Mike is actually-- - Alan's going to have to come up with a "stupefy" spell for these question new cops. Some of you just hit them with-- - That's not much of a stretch in a game. - It's also a crime under the law of his magic, if I understand correctly, but-- - You're going to be serious about those things. - I'm going to call my people, and have them send a lawyer to the hospital to help Alan out with his cop problem. But it might take a while, so that could be his get out of jail free card. If he's having problems, the guy can come in at the last minute and say you can't talk to him. He has many more questions. - It's dark, right? - It is dark. Roberto, when you look at them with your demon eyes, you see that they are possessed. The brother, however, will be able to go wherever you want him to. If you still want to take him to a detective agency's detention area, he can meet you there. - If that's safer, no questions asked, and he said these attachments of the demons are getting weaker, that you could get rid of them easier. - Okay, so where is the holding cells? Is it anywhere near the restaurant? - Yeah, they're-- - No, they're-- Downtown. - Right, okay. - That's too far away from the restaurant. - It's quite a trip, right? - It's-- - That's fine, it's just-- - Not far away from my house. - You're talking about half an hour. - How are we transporting these two people? Because one of them wakes up on the way there. - I used to have a van. I was with Crapo. Are they restrained in any way? Is there someone in the back of the van with him? - I would definitely say he's in the back of the van. I mean, I wasn't doing anything in the front, so-- - I'm following. So, like, if I even tried to, like, leap out of the vehicle, I could then run them over. - I was wondering where you were gonna go with that. - Potentially. - And then-- - Then you went there and put it in to go with that, and you did-- - Yeah, I'm following too. - Yeah, I'm driving, and the restraint or not would be up to you, because that's what you do. - Yeah, they're seat belts on. - Or the me. - They had their seat belts on when they were in seats on where they are anymore. - It's a selling cedar. So, yeah, they have their seat belts on. - I'm saying if we knew they were demon-possessed, there would be common sense to have-- - Yeah, yeah. - That we would have at least their hands behind it. - Yeah, we would-- - More than-- - Yeah, otherwise, no. - But they might definitely know that, because Roberto told you that they're all a glow in his demon eyes. - And Roberto knows his demons. - He does? - Yeah, we have, on another hand, tied behind their backs. - Look, you can start your attention. - You know what, whatever we can do that, we restrain their ankles as well. - Hoveled. - Okay, yeah. - So the one is-- - Hoveled. - Thressing about, even though he's restrained, he is attempting, apparently-- - Great glues. - You'll find in what it is to be unconscious. - Oh yeah, I'm gonna punch him in the face. - Clean it too. They're so friendly. - I'm quite friendly when they're not trying to escape while we're on the road. I don't know what he can roll to resist this. - Not really. - Yeah, no, so I'm just roll fists against control. - Shut up and go to sleep. - Wait, I was supposed to roll that, I'm a thing. Oops, total, plus one. And I have goods, good fists, so total four. Great fists. - I'm goods, I got the goods. - Goods fists. - Total four, great. I mean, I can also choke 'em out, but later. When we're not in a car. - Looking forward to that. - Should I figure out how much I hurt my head? - I'm going to ask everyone else to leave the table except you for a moment. - They're in a different car than me, right? - Can we just show them where we're like, we're really good role players and stuff? If he turns into a demon, I'm just going to keep on liking him. - I think they're in a better demon than Roberto. - So, I do know because I don't know. I'm not going to actually change my, you've changed. - The way I handle. - The demon attempts to jump from the guy he's in and take possession of you. - Oh, that's the one, that's pretty much. - And the attack is... - You want us not to be here during this or something? - No, I'd say. - A little late for that. - Well, he agrees that we're good role players. - The attack is superb. - Five. - I'm going to roll discipline. - You're going to roll discipline. - Which is two. - Mine is superb. - I'm helping him from the other car. - There was this demon's deny. - Nice. - Ooh. - Yes. - Come to me. - You should probably announce what you rolled. - Oh yes, I rolled negative three, which would put me at minus one. I am probably going to reroll, just for the sake of putting up a fight. I think it's more interesting if I do get possessed, but for the sake of putting up a fight, I'm going to reroll. - Yeah, you don't want to. - So I've walked Rangel's spirit to try. I'm brave. You can't quell my spirit quite that easily. - Apparently they can. - That time I rolled plus one. - No, that's better. - That is four points better. - I understand that, that is quite a swing. - And if you spend one, you can then... - Be it. - Fight it. - Five's superb. - Yeah, which is what they were, I think, at. And that, I don't think I'll get a big point. - Go where Angel's spirit treads. - Would that be the exact opposite of what he's trying to do? - Well, it's valid. (laughing) - Just say it. - But it's an opinion, man, it's true. This is every soul. - No, yeah, I think that was every soul that's ripped. - Yeah. - I mean, if every soul is worth saving, your certainly is worth more than... - Yeah. He's trying to fight back the demon who tried to jump and do it. - Oh, you're being possessed? - They're trying. - It's a thing, not quite yet. - I used every soul's worth saving 'cause you don't agree that I walk where Angel's spirit tread is relevant, which is fine. - We can work it out. - You could work it a little bit. I just did, like, on the surface, it doesn't make sense to me. - Oh, sorry. - It's DM decreed. - Game master. - They're a good gym. If I fail, can I get a fake point for I didn't take that all over with her? - Absolutely. - Absolutely. - You made eye contact with the demon. You don't make eye contact with the demon. - It was like a soul lock and it just went, and I will give you a fake one 'cause you didn't think that went through. - Awesome. - And you are now demon possessed. - Awesome, you guys are fucked. (laughing) - You have decided to wait until the car stops and you're attempting to get your buddy out of here and you realize they probably don't know what to do. I'm not gonna tell you what to do. There's a number of different ways you can do it. Walking casually over their corpses would be one of them, but I couldn't get off. - You also know they're pretty fucking powerful. - I couldn't kill all these people. - The demon in you knows you and you know them. - I'm actually way better off than I was earlier this night by picking up lethal weapons, but I still can't kill all these people. - Do I have stealth at all? - I should know this, but I don't. - How is that character not have stealth? Every one of your characters has stealth. - That was kind of the thing. - Oh, try to have some of that. - I'm not stealthy. I'm kind of bombastic in his appreciation of life and doing the right thing. - Bombastic. - Yeah, it wasn't how I'd describe me at all. - No, that's fine. - But he is. - In that case, he should've spent another fake point and I get possessed. - Clearly. - So you guys finish driving, driving, driving. You arrive at a detective agency. You have an underground garage, you pull into it so that nobody can see you attempting to drive these bodies out of the corpse, out of the car, of course. - It's corpse, it's bodies. - That's on mine. - Who's driving the van? - Everybody else. - And you're following in your car, Edmund, and Roberto's following in his pickup. - Pick him up trucked and then I was following. - Put him up truck, we're fine. - And you got your fucking fool's dog. - Is this a compelling? - Systematically. - It's obviously what's been suggested. - Yeah. - I wrote Thomas a note, it is a formats while it is actually a compelling. Now, you know what you know about your character, so that is your trust. - Well, when the car stops, you guys have arrived at our destination. From what I understand, what I'm expecting is two unconscious people in there that we need to transport. - Still two unconscious people in there. - Maxwell knows this place better. He tells you where to park, it's closest to the elevator. We're up a dozen-fact park there, and then. - As is when you arrive, I'm bucking myself, and you're ready to. - You open the side door? - The car's parked. - Yeah. - Stop completely. - I open the side door. - The turn side door. - He's off and gets out. - I open the side door, and I pick up one of the bodies, and I ask her to pick up the other one, or we can wait till. - Don't speak for someone else. - Yeah. - I'll probably go and pick up the other one. I'm strong, so. - Right. - There's no way I pick in that. But London's going inside the facility to, you try on the lights, check and see what kind of wine they have. They have nice brew coffee. - You have to call the elevator. - We do have nice coffee. - We have the secretary's work. - Shawn. - I'm just saying, you're in the parking drive. You have to walk over and hit the elevator, but wait for it to come. - Sure, yeah. - That's fine. - You're a scurvy for nantaggers, no? - Shawn, I think it was Shawn, I was close. That's not bad for London. It was like three years ago in real world time. - I'm watching so quickly because they didn't want me to interact with me. - In the drive there, there was Maxwell, Ruppa and the two people, right? - Yes. - And there was one of them woke up. As far as Ruppa knows, what does he know? The one of them woke up, got punched in the face, and everything got quiet in the back? - Yeah. - Okay. - That's all I know. Maxwell says, oh shit, one of them was awake, and then you hear a thought, and then no problem. - There's no problem. - It's like no problem, it's like-- - Oh, wow. (laughing) - And the head rotates around, right? - He's still looking at the roads, holding the audience seized. Anyway, I pick up the one that still has a demon, and instead of the other one. - And I'm picking up the other one, unless he's stopping me. - No, and at that point, I'm gonna pay a fake point to not deal with, you just requested me. - Okay. - And I'm just gonna run. - All right, give me a fake point. - I want, what are you doing? - You're sucking in your car with her, though. - Yes, truck. - Mm-hmm. - I parked it on this car on Glen and Monica. - I want you to roll and use your thumb eyes. - Hey. - Awareness? - Awareness. - That's awareness. - This is awareness. - What the fuck? - I want you to roll an alertness roll, and I want it to be I'm the man. - Don't we all? (laughing) - You know, I was like it to be great. What'd you roll? - Plus one, clearly. - I'm sorry, the circles according to zones aren't the plus one. - Well, so they eat here. It needs to look like smiley face. - Yeah, all right. Good enough. - And the circles. It still looks like a smiley face. Anyway, so I get a great, yeah, up from good. - You are the only one that noticed that both the glowing demon possessions are carrying each other. - Well, one's carrying the other, and it's Maxwell. We're going to go with that as your initiative, and I'd like Maxwell to make his initiative. He's sulking leaning against the car pissed off because he didn't need to squish anybody's eyeballs. - Didn't you have to go to hell plus four? - Yeah, I still have a consequence called limping if you want to spend some big ones. - If I need to. Wait, did anyone ever take it? - Yeah, we'd refresh. - If you have to spend a fresh one. - No, you have to like sleep. It has to be like the next day to refresh. - So Roberta rolled a plus four, like everyone else that's involved the role as well. No spending of fake points for this particular role. - With the exception of the major players. - Maxwell, please spend fake points if you want. - The demon can spend a fake point if it wants to. - Yeah, demon. - I'm confident in my ability to escape or drive those if it goes first. Demon has four. - What do I want for each player? - One, two, three, four. - Opposition player. - Oh, I want this as a friend. - Okay. - What are you doing for all the leartners? - A leartners. - Plus two for my non-alert ass. - That gives me a fair. - So I zeroed out to whatever zero is. - But Maxwell gets a surprise round because he starts running. - Yeah. - Roberta, just potentially before he starts around, notice his fuck. Why is Maxwell glowing? - Oh, well, obviously. So if he's faster than Maxwell, then he's faster. But he's the only one that could still act in the surprise round because he noticed you guys would have no way of noticing that unless you rolled a legendary, you know, he's walking slightly different than Maxwell normally does. - That would be investigation, honestly. - Yeah. - My leartners is one. I rolled a total of minus two, so I blew this last one. - I rolled a neutral and I have three. If the demon wants to go first, go for it. Put Maxwell, I ain't gonna make this any easier on him. - I was thinking about rolling a joint because I can't carry a body. - Yeah, so apparently you did. Your mind is two, four, up, up, up. And badment is zero. - The demon is in fact spending one. - Initiative? - Initiative? - Yes. - They're like catching me. - Running. - Maxwell. - Running, running, running. - Uh-oh. - Very much. - He's carrying someone, is that a disadvantage? - Maybe. - Demon power? - Yeah. You got demon power. - Then he spends fake points to do demon power. He doesn't get super strength all the sudden. - He does. The demon power has its supernatural strength. - Well, then supernatural strength means it doesn't matter. - It doesn't have supernatural speed. - It has inhuman strength for it. - Yes. - 'Cause it's a whole 'nother wrong of crazy. - Unfortunately, Maxwell has superhuman speed. - Yes. - I just wonder if they got saturated. - Yeah. - No, they don't stay. - What? - Anyway. - See you later again. - Not an issue, correct? - No. - I roll plus two. My athletics is five, naturally. And then I have another stunt that gives me plus two. I am gone like the wind. - And where are you gone to? - I am nine, gone. - Well, as in acting as the demon, yeah. He knows the demons. - Okay, so he's playing the demon. - Yes. - Nine zones of movement. Nine zones is like, like short. - We are in underground. You are at least one level bouncer. You've gotta run the whole round thing. - I ain't getting in the elevator. - No, I don't imagine you are. So we're gonna say that it's like one, two, three, four zones, and you're at the exit. - And then in five zones, you put your heart in and wait for the gate to go. - No, you don't. - Slide underneath it and how many more? - Five. - Five. - Okay. - I have five, I roll plus two, and then I have a stunt for two more, so. - No, you see him just take off running, and he is moving it. Remember the speed where he ran across the street, got his hammer came back. - Okay, it's a question. - And it is your turn. - I thought he gets demon power and his own abilities. Is that just how it works? - Yeah. - Okay. - They've never possessed somebody this good. - The demon power is overlaid on top of a human, so the fact-- - He gets the best of both worlds. - Right. - He is Maxwell, but he gets the demon strength. - Makes perfect sense. - Player care. - Just wanna understand it. - Equals, oh shit. - Equals, bye. - Look, I'm not the best offensive player you guys have. You'll be able to catch me at some point. - So what do you do, Roberto? - He's running the key in the car. (mimics car noises) - Roll your resources and see if it starts. - Oh, I drive as fast as I can after him. - Okay, we're all around again. - I'm driving work simulation around him. It's obviously faster. He doesn't need to roll as high as I did. - He's actually gonna require a driving scale, because he's not driving in a straight line here. We're just simply not racing. He has gotta go up around the corner and then pass a gate which is closed, which means he's gotta have to go in a circle. - I know, I'm just saying you're trying to-- - Yeah, yeah. - And he pulled in. So he's gotta back out, flip around, and go. So give me a driving roll. The higher the roll, the farther the metal on the matter back, please. - You can pull the mat down. We have lots of-- - Holy shit, a plus three. - Four driving, great. So we're gonna do the same thing as athletics. You go four zones. - What the fuck? - It's a car. - I understand that. - But you're driving-- - In straight line? - No, you have to run around corners too. - It takes, I'm not trying to be difficult. It takes as much for a person to do that than a car to do that. - I'm talking a parking garage here. I'm saying a human could probably run as fast as a car can through a parking garage. - Okay. - I'm with you. - I'm with you. - I'm on the streets. - Okay. - Give you double for the car. - Gotcha. - Good. - Roberto's flipping our backwards. - Do I get out of here? - Out of the parking lot, flips around. I said one, two, three, four. You're at the gate. If you want to spend a fake point now to go farther, that's your option. - Have you ever seen any of your speed drive around the parking garage? - Nine, never saw that. - No, but what I would see though is what I would say in past defense is that he wouldn't be running on a fake electric car. He's jumping over between the two levels. - Car car. - Yeah. - He might be running on a car. - He might be running on a car. - He has a car in the body though, huh? - Yeah. - He has a car in the body though, huh? - He has a car in the body though, huh? - He has a car in the body though, huh? - He has a car in the body though, huh? - Yeah. - He has a car in the body though, huh? - Yeah. - He has a car in the body though, huh? - He has a car in the body though, huh? - He has six zones, I smashed through it. - Okay, so how many fake points are you truly having? - I only have one, so I'm spending it. - Okay. - And I go six right through the gate into the street. - I would argue that he'd least be slowed down one or two with the body 'cause you don't want to bounce the thing so when you get there, all you have is a torso and the arm and legs pound stuff. - It's team, the thing I wrote down on the card was shoot the other guy in the head and run. So I don't think he gives a shit if he's got nothing but arms and he's got a face point to give a shit. - I spent a fake point not to kill. - Then the DM has rules, let's move on. - Roberto flips his car out of the parking space, turns around and goes flying up. He's on another car as he goes through the gate, the gate goes flying. - He hits the-- - He hits the-- - Where is London? - I don't know. - He's still humming air supply at the elevator hitting the bottom. - Oh, I don't know. - Here's a peel up, some screaming. - Like what the hell? - You come flying out and just in time to see him running and trimming him corner to the right, you follow that saying why you get about to the intersection and you see him still running down the middle of the street. He's out past you, but you definitely can see him. - And now we're on a straightaway. - Now you're in a straightaway. - Now you're in a straightaway. - I have kept trouble. - And he goes up the stairs out. - London is hitting the elevator button, the elevator calls down. - You hear a raunch as one car, Roberto, bangs off of some car. - Yours are. - I'd better not be the Jaguars. - I don't know what I heard the tires lighting up or corral. - Yes. You hear the tires lighting up, you hear the car careen off, another one is. There's a car-- - What car? - You hear the-- - This alarm going off with you? - Yeah, car alarm. - Yeah. - That's one of our employees. - No, you know what, what we're saying was mine. I spent a fake point to make sure it wasn't my car. There we go. Just had to make sure the Jaguars in still good shape. - And then you hear farther away as the gate gets busted. - Would it make any sense for me, depending on the layout, to go up the elevator and out the front door if I wanted to see what was happening as opposed to running back to where everything was? - Absolutely. I'll try that. - Also, there's an alarm that goes up because I'm pretty sure if you run one of those gates and you break through them and-- - Oh, yeah. - It sets off some fucking alarms. - That's the way I deserve it. - Don't actually-- - No, never, don't it. - Edmund. - I'm pulling out my phone and calling our security 'cause I got people that work for me. - Okay. - And I'm having the security that patrols the outside of the building, keep an eye out for him and if they see him pursue him. - As far as-- - Max-- - I'm trying to know who he is, he works here. - Yeah. - Your boss has been hijacked, chase him down. - The guy at the front of the building reports back that he just saw him run by is using deadly force. 'Cause boss, I ain't gonna be able to catch him. (laughs) - I'm a fat out of shape, security guard, and there's no way I'm gonna catch him. - That's surprisingly candid. (laughs) - I see yes. - Deadly force? All right, you can take it. - Wrap up, he's a PC. - And I'm jumping in my car and following. - With more control than Roberto just used, are you trying to keep up? - I'm probably trying to, I think I'm trying to keep up. - Okay, keep up. - You're driving skill? - And of course nobody has driving. - I have one. - I have one. - Unless there's another skill you can use for driving. - The guard is-- - Since I don't have a driving skill, I'm just going as fast as I can without being reckless. - I drive. - In truth, you don't need to drive well, unless you're trying something reckless. - I'm not driving reckless. I'm just going as fast as I can without. - If you're getting more damage to my building. - Well, if you don't want to roll, it's gonna take you a while to get out of here. Like as in, you could probably take two turns to get to the exit. Because he went four zones around that at top speed. You're doing it straight away so you might zip faster than is normally safe in a parking garage, but you're definitely going to have to slow down for those corners because they're full, 180. So do you want to take two turns to get out of here or do you want to risk it and make a roll? - Oh, risk it. - Okay. - You should immediately plow in your own car. - Minus one. - Yeah. (laughs) - Hey, I spent my point. - The Jaguar is parked right next to the elevator. - So you go flooring down and you take up two of the zones of the straightaway end. - It's that corner. - Same car. - And, (laughs) - No, you just hit your car into the wall because there's no parking at that corner part. - It's an armored car, nigga. - Roberto just kind of slammed into a car to give himself, you know, a ricochet around the corner. - Yeah, it was a book. - There's a fender in the road. - It was a skill shot. - It's a cold corner shot. You just damaged the whole side of your car as you're coming around that 180 into the side of it. You just, it sparks and you paint everywhere. And it is repisture. - You could probably get to the top of the building. - So you are at the car, you're at the car, you see Maxwell just bull going the other way. You see London watch look and he looks over his shoulder back towards apparently the stairwell and goes running that direction. You see Roberto drive like a maniac, bouncing off a car's fallen by. - Can I roll something to figure what happened here? I mean, 'cause I know what happened here, but do I know that this guy in this car is no longer dangerous? - Yeah, I'd say anything. - Hmm, yes. - Lore, Lore, if I give you a sense of whether he's still possessed as natural, magical senses go. - Or is that just unlikely? - That's an actual subset of life. - Yeah, see, now normally I would just say that you would know from this behavior that what's going on. But if there were three demons history. - I would have left one. - Oh, so running out of places to do irrational things like set vampires free. - So he wasn't there for that then. - Yeah, I know, but he's been told. - Maybe. - Might be just a shadow of a doubt if he's been told any of these stories. - But they're sitting there in the car. - I'm gonna say it's a relatively easy, we're gonna say fair. Either lore or investigation to say, okay, wait a minute. - I think I know what's going on here. - So, plus two is what I need you to roll. Either of those skills. - My lore is still four. - And your recipe doesn't exist. - No. - I think that's minus two. - Oh, geez. - So it's not a bad world thing. - Or a fair. - Well, actually it's very interesting. - It's exactly what you need. - When you look at this pupil and his eyes are rolled up, you take out a vial, a holy water goes, nothing happens, and you go, okay, I got it. - You can act. If you're running, at this point it's gonna be minus one because of the time you spent so far. - Sure. - 'Cause you're taking two actions, bitch. - I'm gonna open the trunk, grab my sniper rifle, and head to the elevator as quickly as I can. - I thought you were gonna say, toss the guy in it and close the truck. (laughing) - London, did you ever roll athletics to see how far you got on your particular? - I think I was stuck in the elevator, but I'm more than happy to-- - No, no, you made the elevator button. I thought you said you decided to run up the stairs and try to get out the front exit. - I meant go up the elevator into the building, go off the front exit, thereby cutting by all that. - There's actually a staircase, which, my dear choice. - Don't say you were waiting for the elevator, maybe you're gonna hold it. - Was it, did it show the elevator coming down? Like, do you think to this level? So I know, do you mean if I want to exert myself for the-- - Is this a surprise building? - Part of this group? - Yeah, I think it's public room. - First of all, I'm pretty sure-- - I'm pretty sure I'm-- - Pretty sure your athletics is zero. - Well, except in bed, but yes. - I don't have a special athletics in bed. - This is not in bed. That's a surprise. - Why don't I make this? - It works for Twister, too. The elevator is close enough that you know, is un-athletic as you are, that it'll be better going for the elevator. - I will then wait. - In fact, it arrives just as, wrap our eyes with the gun. - All right. - All right. - After you? - What's the door? - What's happening? - What would you like to say? - So I explain the London, what I know is it, but-- - Oh, the guy in the car is just no longer demonized, so I'm guessing that Maxwell might be. - Yeah. - I actually almost like him. - Okay. - Let's find out what happens. - The front door of your building first open, the guy takes a moment to aim and fires at Maxwell as he's running far away. - Thank you for listening tonight to the Night Actual Play podcast. I have four fake points. - Yeah, I just realized. - No, there was like two weeks ago, someone kept doing that all night long. Click, click, click, click, click of a pen. And I was like, "Hey, look, look, why did I not notice that?" It wasn't me. - I remember it because I let- - And it was a pencil. (laughing) - We need to cut this man up in the small pieces and put one in front. - Yeah. - I'm sure Jimmy wouldn't mind her yoga man. - Well, I mean, how much is a yoga man caught? - I have several that are old at moment. - I'm just about to be throw out, so. - Yeah. - I'm saying, cut it up. - That must really cost. - I will buy one. - They have them at five bullets, so they should tell you something. - There you go. - There was a movie like that, like it was in the '70s.
