(upbeat music) - Hello and welcome to Night to the Night Actual Play podcast. This "Drusten File Adventures" passages was written and run by a GM top. And now, please enjoy episode 267, titled "Like an Empty Juice Box." Actual play begins immediately. (upbeat music) - All right, my name is, and I'm running this "Drusten Files Team" passages. And the player is here, starting out in my right car. - Michael playing "Rep of Paris," chronologically gifted, anti-agenic, organic alphabes. And I have four fake points. - Thomas playing Maxwell Edison under cover Homeland Security operative. I should have three fake points unless you're not a period of breast, which is case I have six. - I am Jim playing Edmond Shadowski, a rich businessman in black court-powered cyan with three fake points. - I'm Mike playing Ellen Montgomery, the soul-sundered warden of Cleveland. And I currently have two fake points. - I'm Scott playing London Deals, a moral seer to the supernatural powers. I have six fake points. - I'm John, I'm playing Roberto Martinez. - Keep both Cleveland's coins and powered by a fallen angel. I have one fake point. - You realize that they're like that's close to finishing the ritual that they're good. And by this plus I mean like two or three words. - So I bring my gun to my shoulder and I'm like, and I'm right behind him. If I see him doing it, that's what I'm doing. What am I seeing? - These people, I hope you don't see like Boy Scout uniforms. - Like bang, what was I seeing? - Just shoot him in the knees. Boy Scouts shouldn't be doing it. - I want to know where to aim. - All right, we have two roll four. They should have four everybody. And I will describe it as, you're definitely seeing three people that are doing a ritual. There is, on the ground, a pentagram. They are doing some form of your role was well enough to tell that not only is it just about to finish, but they're doing a summoning ritual. And it's a pretty substantial demon they're trying to bring into this. - You do. - They are however, apparently human. - How many chickens are you talking? How many chickens have they killed? - Well, there's five chicken demon. - So the bad guys, ooh, well the plus two haven't died. - Yeah. - Ooh, plus two. - And what? - No, probably it's a surprise, Rob. - Yeah, we'll give you a surprise, Rob. - I rolled it too. - What did you roll? - I rolled a wash, but I have the water. - Alertments and so forth. - Or from the Warden. - I rolled a wash out of a natural weapon, this is three. - Three. - Is there a clear leader to this? Is there somebody who's chanting or is they all doing the same? - They're all chanting, they all seem to be doing the same. - There's four. - One of them looks like the caller. One looks like a female. One of the middle ones, the tall one? 'Cause there's four, so there's two guys. - That is three, right? - All right, what was your role again on that? - Six. - It's fantastic. - Yeah. - No, there's a new scale. That's six is now pretty fucking impressive. - Oh, wow. - That is well enough to know that one of them seems to be leaving the channel. - Which one would this be? - It would be the one on the left. - Actually, it's the one with this. - Yes. - All right, well, try and map the shooter in the head. (laughing) Good plan. - Afraid mercy. - That's all your instincts, though. - Are you going for a body shot? - I guess, yeah, because I don't want to kill anybody, but I don't want to stop this. - I have sniper bolts of the body from a hundred feet. - Cheater on the neck and she'll stop chanting. - That'll be fine. - You're doing a blood. - It's a wash, my gun's just four. - I think it's the role, but-- - Oh, she definitely gets the role, because it fates his pickle. - Holy shit, I don't know, three pluses and a minus. So that is plus two, that just means plus two. She doesn't get to add in her skills, any of her skills. So two is good enough to hit. Then you add your sniper rifle back in and that's three. So that's a total of five damage to her. - Yeah, hopefully that interrupts you. - And this is-- - Or whatever, or whatever that's for. - It's worth something, because she is actually currently possessed, and that cuts right through that. - Nice. - Thank you, brothers, some of that. - Those are even more-- - She's more dead. - She has four physical. - That is five, so that it makes a mild consequence. The shot goes off and clips her on the side of the head, and blood just gushes down into her eyes. - I said, I wasn't aiming for the problem. - Yeah. - She moves, she definitely moves. - She stood on him. - I mean, she kinda leaned into it. - She straightened her back. - No, actually, she did a whole foot taller at the moment. Surprisingly, she does not go down. - Well, force off the singing of the chant. - Well, she does finish the ritual along with her other summoners, and that brings it within the circle. - I don't know what I'm gonna add. - I know what I'm gonna add. - Can you hear it out? - No, I don't know. - Yeah, apparently not. - This is a parking lot waiting for the song to finish. (laughing) - He's like, I can go out through tears, why not? - She drops to her knees, blood streaming over her eyes, which finishes the ritual, which brings forth this really big fucking huge demon in the center of the circle. - Big fucking huge. Where's that in the circle? - The bonfire or the circle? - Was the pentagram a containment, or was the pentagram a protection? - Don't know, you're not close enough to see. They finished that summoning, it arrives. It steps out of the fire and the ring, it swipes one of them aside and says, - I need to fuel. - And it looks at the closest, which would be Edmund, and starts walking towards him. - It's called role awareness, you shouldn't. (laughing) - Nice try. - Yeah, from mortal eyes perhaps, the warden goes next. You, Roberta, lit up demon possessed, all three, including the one in the center. The one in the center is pretty powerful. I'm not saying, delirian powerful, but I'm saying like, this is gonna eat, your friends, powerful. - Shoulda, shoulda, like. - Stopped it. - Can't touch this. - Warden, do you hear about two zones away, and you hear a shot ring out, the fire just shoots up into the sky, and it's a lot rudder than it was before, fire-wise. - The smell of sulfur in there. - Yeah, and Roberta hasn't done anything, he's standing right next to ya. - Alright, well then I am drawing my warden sword. - I was planning to get there just an instant before they were, I mean, that was on purpose. They're not too far behind, hopefully. - So, what we're gonna say, the platform is one zone. The surrounding area where both Rappa and Edmund are the second zone, your third zone away. So moving one zone will put you in the same ring roughly where I've been in Rappa R. - Alright. - And where the demon just moved into. They are cultists who are possessed by demon, and for everything, look like humans. This is a full-- - So I'm gonna focus on our curved horns. Fuck you, I'm from hell demon. - And the thing already stepped outside of the circle, are we all still inside the pentagram with the net ring? - It stepped outside the circle and started adding toys. - Okay, so that kills my one idea. - Okay, well then-- - Measure right now. - I'm going to use my special attack against the demon. - Yep, two flies. - Special attack. - What do you call your special attack? - Demon smiter? - Yeah, it's just basically a smite attack. It's using the power of the sword. It's a warden sword, and they're like warden in town, so that's the one I'm using. It's a weapon six for this attack. - Anything? You make your speech after you hit. - Yeah. - Oh, right now, I'm just like holy cow, there's five demons in this thing. - Otherwise, it's just embarrassing. - Yes, yes, yes. - It's got a pickling four. - Oh, there's five demons in this place. - You've got a couple coins. There's six or seven demons in the bank out here, all right. - Oh, minus one, which means that it's a good hit. - Oh, three. - And I'm going to spend my faith point to give it a plus two. - Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What'd you start with? - It attempts to dodge. I started with a three. - So it shouldn't be a two-fair. - Oh, minus one is a two, that's what I said. - They're athletics. It is a two. And actually, I rolled a minus one. So it's a one, which makes it only a average. - Average. - You hit. - So you can hit. - All right. - So you don't need to, but you could still add more to do more damage. - I think I would like to use the fate if I do have a hit on this demon, and this is my super attack. - So what was your total on this? - My total would be two to hit him. - Yeah, his defense was one, so you do one damage. - That's cool. - However, you're doing your special super-- - All right, sword attack, which makes up to seven. You're gonna do seven damage at this. - And then I'd like to throw in the fate point for a little, how's your mother? - What is the aspect? - Yeah, I was awarded Cleveland. This is the demon, he's threatening my talent. - Yeah, I have a good total on my damage. - I'm doing my sword ring out. It doesn't make a crystalline tone that cheters the-- - A crystal bell. - His reservoir. - So what was your statement after you hit him? - You say what happens first? - They'll write back the hell. I mean, the average one is going back to hell, but-- - There's nothing holy about this weapon. - No, true. - But-- - Oh, that means you get the damage with this. - However, he has a secondary catch for extremely magical weapons. - At this point, in viewing it with this plus six, it reaches that level where-- - Extremely magical. - Right, in this capacity. - That nine goes through all of his normal damage reduction as a demon type of-- - Or you're telling me he takes it. - Yeah. - You do cut him, and you see his flesh open, and you see fire pouring out of-- - Extreme. - And dropping, and so you did actual damage. - It did not kill him. - I didn't think it was going to kill him initially, but I thought I would at least do a decent amount of damage. - You did. - You cut him open. - And that means the next-- - But all I got gets close to him. ♪ To see what I want to know ♪ - All right, I'm up next. - The next. - Did you roll for this demon? - I did. - And he went and he just came to the start and walked out. I aim for the-- - Oh, he's good for winning some. - One who's been shot already. - Okay. - Let me try this and do it here. - Just fists. I'm better at that, and I'm in close range. And I rolled plus two. - See, you're running up and punching her? - Oh, right in the face. - Right in her buddy, face. - Okay. - That's what I want because you're running. - Right. I rolled a great, and then I'm probably going to use the consequence if you'll allow me. She gives me a plus two of the attack. - He's targeting her. - He's kind of freaking out right now, because he hasn't actually shot a human since '60s since now. - What? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You shot that dude, and that's the reason I was able to shoot him in the head is because you hit him. - He was a white card vampire. He was not. - Yeah. - Rinaldi? - Rinaldi. - And when he was on, he could tell. - Yeah? - Okay, good. And I knew that. - I thought-- - Moving through the scope. - A human though. I might be kind of tautic right now, but. - Well, total four. She rolled a minus one. Her athletics are one, so that means zero. - Okay, so your punch does four damage. - Four damage plus two, if I can grab the consequence, 'cause we have it on the scene like he's gonna use it. - Yeah, go ahead. - All right, total six. - So you punch her right in the bloody part of the wound. You split it open and blood just gushes everywhere and she crumbles. - Brains. - She just goes down. Your choice. - I'm not gonna go out. - Dad, I think you knocked her out. But she is definitely unconscious as she takes a second consequence. - Big guns on the demon. I got the little dudes. - All right, Roberto, Roberto marches up with the hammer and says, "You ain't nothing to an angel." So, two points of damage to everybody in the zone with the demon. - Sorry. - As a thing, why not? - You could also make it just an aspect in, though, that's two points. - I anticipated this. - Hell of fire. - Nice. - Good. - You're resistant to hell of fire? - I do have a specific, we talked about this. My hell of fire sink, that will draw the hell fire like a lightning rod, so. - So, we're fine. - Would you like to do that and say here? - Yeah, fine. - Does that mean it doesn't affect the demon? - No. - No, but it's going to-- - If it gets too close to him, it gets siphoned off, not just-- - So it doesn't affect all of that? - Right, so, well, I guess it's your call, "Can I invoke it as a zone or can I invoke it as a zone?" - Does it have a limit on how much you can absorb? - We never discussed how powerful it was. - Okay. - Or whether it was how, I mean, I don't know what my magic is, and my lore is in condition-- - What's your lore? - My lore is four. - So, let's say you can absorb four. - Four points. - Okay. - My conviction is which controls my how much magic I can-- - Yeah, but lore controls the enchanted items. Is that a fake one or no? - Nah. - I'm putting it on, so I'm punching him with it. - The demon is on fire, though. The dodge is minus one, he has a two, which makes it only a one, so you hit with a five, I believe, which means four damage. - Plus two, because I'm pretty damn strong. - Plus two, and then the glove itself, was it a weapon, one, similar to a bat? - I think I was never really used a stat to try to work down. - I think it was a weapon, one. - So an additional one. It is a holy weapon, which is part of his catch. So the total? - Seven. - Yeah, and I am a black court-powered scientist, so I'm gonna boost the damage. - I don't know if he'd point. - I'll use bragging. - That's nine, his boxes are eight, the highest. He already has a minor, so now then it goes to a moderate. - Can I throw another thing and tap the aspect of the bleeding, and his cut that the warden gave me could be used for two more. - How about you then? - 11. - He's going still with a moderate, which is minus four, and then that would be seven more, which he does have available to him. - It is Rappa's turn, Rappa. - I don't like a discipline or ultim, to have you not go catatonic. - Or you could fake one and go catatonic. - Can I encourage him to say, we need you, Rappa, get back in the game here? - You can, but yeah, I will offer you a fake one to go catatonic, how about that? - Well, what I'm gonna do, what I was planning on doing is walking over to the female that was shot and then attacked by an expert. - I'm not sure, right? - Yeah, and administering. - Yeah, trying to stabilize her, and just kind of, I just, there's that kind of kind of tonic where there's something going on, but I don't give a shit. - So that earned you a fake one, because you are virtually taking yourself out of this scene and being helpful. - Right. - But there are two other priests there, or two other-- - I got 'em. - Okay. - He's trying to say this isn't rations. - Okay, if we're fighting this end of the problem with the demon, I'm thinking that we can maybe also fight the other side of the problem and try to cut off this, this power to this demon, because I don't know how long we're gonna hold the gun. - The two other summoners attack Maxwell, 'cause he is the closest, with what? - Not just Fess, but plus one on the roll, and-- - No, I mean, you could throw me to the wolves, and go check that out. - Well, I may either need you to go take care of the other two cultists, or try to you and me tag team this demon. - The two possessed attack you, actually, with ceremonial daggers that they have with them? - That is, actually their weapons is-- - Much more demanding. - Five. - This guy rolled a plus one, which is six. - All right, I'm gonna roll a plus one. - A thousand. - A thousand gets to be added in, 'cause there's two attacking you, so. - I rolled also plus one. My athletics is also five, so I rolled a six, so they deal weapons damage. - No, actually, they're seven, because there's two of them attacking you. The one on the six, the other one adds a plus one. - All right, so one plus one. - So that's a seven. - Daggers are probably one. - They'd be one because they're hand sized, but I could see two, 'cause they're plated. - And let's use one of these and just saying, they're possessed demons. - So that takes it up to three higher than you. - Plus weapons one? - Yes. - For a total of four? - Correct. - I have a four stress box in my physical, so I'll take a word. - I got this, take care of the demon first. - I'm going to throw a spear of magical ice into this demon's chest. - What power are you gonna choose to spell to get? - My conviction's five, so I can use up to five. - Is that correct? - My discipline, which is four. - That's how you roll? - Very well. - Thank you. - Oh my God. - That's the worst roll. - That's the worst roll. - That's the most possible. - Mine is four. - Tonight. - I don't want to spell your feet point for you roll. - For yet. - Yeah, I've got, I'm gonna spend my last my point to counteract all the bad magic in this place that's goofing me up. - All that health fire magic. - Yeah, all this health fire that is still-- - Yeah, and I'm gonna reevers act now. - So I just get a reroll. - Yeah, well I would, yeah, I mean you can add plus two, but no. - You're not gonna roll minus four again. - Or minus two hopefully. - Holy cow, I did it again. - No, no, no, you got plus. - It's minus two. - Minus two, so two, 12, five power, that's three over. - Give her no, 'cause you're using the consequence, so that's a plus two-year roll. - Yeah, all right. - So it's back up to four. - He has to dodge four. - All right, first he's trying to control, did he? - No. - He could take one additional damage to himself and he could control it. - Right, you can either take one additional-- - I would take mental stress to control it or let it out in the environment like you were a burrito or something. - I will contain it in myself. - I mean, I stand with shards. - What could go wrong? - That's a little better than that. - That holy cow. - Yeah, negative four and negative two. - He rolled five. - Oh. - To dodge. - So that means-- - He avoids the attack. - All right. - Does it go any with it? - You still take two stress, mental. - It's a bit better. - One to control it, one to cast it, and it's Maxwell and our Roberto's turn. - What about it, you go first? - Well, those you do. - Okay, well, it's a name. - Oh, reward. - All right, seeing how far it doesn't work in this thing, even though it's powered by an angel, what the hell? I'm going to just revert to the hammer smacks. They're at least not damaging my allies. And I'm trying to take out his knee again so people can get an easy shot at him. - All right. - Yeah, man. - This is a-- - This is a six. - So, better this serve is like-- - It'll make enough. - So far. - It was pretty fucking good. - I rolled an even, which is a plus two. I am going to spend one for bigger and faster, as is aspect. So that brings it up to four. - Great shit, I still do. - Okay, go ahead. - So, yeah, I hit him and I got a plus two to damage, and it's a weapon, it's what, three. So I get the plus five, and that is a seven. I'm going to say-- - Baudy asparagus. - Oh, this is up to an eight. - The repartee pushes it up a bit. - 'Cause he took out his seventh spot when-- - Okay, no, he has damage resistance and his not-- - I don't match those, though. - I forget about that. - Maxwell. - Melissa, SmackDown, another one of these guys. No bonus, but it's this. Holy, oh, nevermind, one of those is a minus. - Oh, that was a terrible roll. I rolled minus three. I'm going to spend one of my favorites, and reroll that, 'cause that was terrible. - That would have been great, though. - And that was a wank, wank, wank, wank, wank, which is one. That is better than a minus. - They're all the one, I rolled the five. - Yeah, it's going to hurt. - It's weapon zero, but puts five damage, which I think is a consequence. - For the demon possess, that is a mild consequence. - Did I give him the consequence? - The demons? - Yeah. - No. - No, you didn't get that nice. - I was hoping you would bow, so you said plus it'd be cool. - Okay, one of them seems a bit staggered. They're still off. - London, I'd like you to roll for initiative as you pull into the driveway and you look around and-- - This is the parking area at the Breckville observation. There's actually a little train station here, and there's a river that-- - You're fine. - What is it? - Alertness. - I don't have that, and I rolled a minus two, which is perfectly acceptable for-- - You're looking around, Brother Francis was supposed to be here to-- - Oh, I thought it was-- - Brother Francis-- - No, it's not. - What a dick. - But then you hear off in that direction of bang, as Brother Francis shoots his gun and joins the freight. - Which side of the dice did you roll? - He didn't listen to you, guys. - The yellow-- - I was about to shout for him, but-- - Brother Francis rolls a plus one on his three gun skill in which the demon-- - Ooh, well, very poorly. - A minus two, which wouldn't cancel his athleticness, because he doesn't-- - Yeah, no. - Okay, so-- - It comes out of the glue, so it's total eight. This shot rings out pretty decently, because they're a holy water soak. Well, it certainly doesn't take the demon down, but it does catch it unaware. And then we go to Edmund, followed by Repa. Repa, you're gonna get a chance, do you stabilize your last turn? - Okay. - So you're gonna get a kind of a chance to break out of it, and pay attention to the fact that your friends are in danger here, but Edmund, go ahead. - Can I see the demon? - Yeah, like, because first of all, the leads are just starting to come in, but this dude is tall. Not 20 feet tall, but we're talking 12 feet. - Good, 10. - 12, 13 feet. You might be able to see him. - What month is this? - Edmund, spring, I believe we said March, my rush. - Okay, so there's not much? - No, not much. - Three on it all. - No. - Okay, but there's some, buds. Just coming back, man. - I punch him again. - That is not good. - I got a three, and my rolled minus two. - You're fighting the big guy? - Yeah. - He is a two, and he rolled an even, so his total of two. - Plus one for both of them is two, plus two, 'cause I'm pretty strong. - Four. - His four is taking, it bounces up to a five, and now it is roughest turn. Would you like to roll just a plenty of good control of yourself in the street? - I think good. - You've been a numb before, and I know you don't like shooting humans, but you also have a squad of people here, so. - Three. - Yeah, okay. - Good? - Three. - Good. - This one. - I think this one is good. - Your roll, however, is a wash, so it's all a wash. - It's good. - When you hear it stop, you don't hear your heartbeat anymore, the panic is starting to rain. - Yeah, it was kind of raining. - Slightly, slightly. - So I just kind of stagger back, and look at her, okay, she's all right, and what the hell did I do with my gun?
