The second act of theĀ Incident Aboard the Egret .

There will be a third!

[Music] Hello and welcome to the Knights of the Night Actual Play Podcast. This clockwork Dominion Adventure, incident aboard the E-Grit, is run by your guest GM, Zeke Kaggle. And now, please enjoy episode 258, titled "I Have Things to Snark." Actual play begins immediately. [Music] I'm Zeke Kaggleman from Rollerporry Games Studios. I'm here acting as the narrator. I'm Thomas, so I'm playing Caspar Hawk, German engineer, boarding the E-Grit for reasons. Okay, I'm Tom, I'm playing Augusta Slough. I am the aristocratic sister of Fitzwilliam Slough. We are both returning from Brazil with our deceased father. I'm John playing Fitzwilliam Slough, the male brother counterpart to the Slough family. And just waste of flesh now, Paul. I am Jim Play and Dr. Ian Trowbridge. We'll be the surgeon from Edinburgh, but I'm not there now. So I'm here on business. I am Scott playing Edith Morgares, a British socialite returning from Sao Paulo to London for reasons unknown. I'm Nick, I'm Sebastian Dunn, and I am on my way home from Sao Paulo with an important package. I'm Rachel playing Dr. Anthony Beacham, who is an anthropologist who just left South America from a cultural expedition in his head at home. And there is Mr. Crick with both arms wrapped around this canister, trying desperately to pull it off of him. And he is just wicking out. He is sobbing and screaming at the canister as much. I'd lift it, but I think I might make things worse. I'll think about it. Fitz falls to his knees weeping, joining him. I mean, he is. No! And I'm joining and lifting, just joining and crying. I got into the canister, a lost cause, or is there a taste of his body? The cave didn't part, probably. Yeah, it's a little bit dead. It may be if you had access to your surgical facilities in Edinburgh, you might be able to save someone like that. I'm not here with my bag now with a medkit. Okay. I probably asked what happened. See, Crick? Yeah, like, how did this happen? I guess. Good circuit, I'm holding herself. Is that something you're like, what happened? Are you pulling along? You're still holding the line? You may need to smack him, Rachel. I know. I'm going to get him out of his fifth. Just smack smack smack. Crick is not letting go of the canister as he's kind of wailing at you. He responds to your question. Hey, it just went with the ship and it, it, it, it, it, right in here. There was a creek and it fell right off the wall and it landed right on him. I told you, but you dispatched him. Yeah, it might be true. Who was in this room with me? There never be, who was? Caskers in it. The gentleman who hasn't introduced himself, who was working the orders. And then... Cock. We have the doctor, Dr. Ian. Dr. Ian. This fits, and Dr. Ian, the beach beach. That's the passion done, he's not present. Actually, if it's a year ago in Israel, I was going to go there, but then I saw this. Oh, sorry. It just turns nice to me on the ship. So this thing of hydrogen magically fell off of the wall and onto this? Well, you can look up the metal straps holding it to the wall. Does it look like it's been cut or does it look like it was torn? A metal, a metal thing was torn. That was a lot of... Hey, engineer, what do you think about this? I think it's not meant to shake like that, but I don't know, I can look at it more closely. It does look feasible that the group of us can get this canister off this guy. I would try to talk everybody into him. Let's get this thing off this guy and get this guy out. It feels so strong. Help me lift this. And everyone who's going to attempt to help. I think by this time, I have sufficiently checked on my backages and have grabbed the corner to just see this. Bigger embrace, I'm lowering the difficulty to three because there's so many of them. Bigger embrace again. Would it be acceptable for Casper to do an engineering plus maybe reason just to make sure that the way it snapped or was torn because he hadn't mentioned that briefly but they got lost in a cacophony of other ideas but he said I should check and I'm just kind of reminding him of that fact. I think it would be wise to check before we let it go. It would be something that would be innate to your character to do to make sure that this was legitimate. Maybe you could find it an easier way to lift it off. But first they wanted me to check whether this came apart legitimately or sabotage murder. It was on purpose. It killed the non-priest. Definitely non-priest. So would it be reason? Reason in engineering. Reason in engineering. It's minding. Oh, yes. It is 80-0. This is bread and butter. Yeah, okay. And I got one. For a total of seven. Wow. Great success. Great success. Wonderful success. So as they are kind of figuring out a way to get this canister off of the priest. I'll help when they decide how they do that and then just check this out. You are kind of examining the straps that were wrapped around it. They are pulled around and snapped shut and they're supposed to hold it in place. The straps are, they're thick. You notice with a degree of success of seven, one strap clearly broke before the other. But you're not exactly certain how that could happen. Someone can't just reach up and pull through a strap like this unless they were the kind of person that could lift a car. Do I know people who could do that? I didn't read enough of the setting to know if that's normal. Probably not the people who are here. Alright, yes. It does not seem quite the place for people like that. There are strange things that happen. But you noticed everything that came on the ship. Right. Do you see where the kids went? Yes. Fits, you are correct. It was the children. I will report this matter to, I don't know, loudmouth McGee who's telling us what to do and the doctor because the doctors, because they asked me to check. It does appear one of these straps broke unnaturally before the other. Perhaps sabotage or really weird wear and tear. Yeah, cover your basis. Well, we're still lifting this day now. Alright, we're staying bigger and one of us. Grace. I want to know what happened here. Grace and Fluff. Oh, we're actually bigger than Fluff. Welcome to the club. Mr. Dunne. Yeah, I have two. Sebastian Dunne. Let us lift this thing. The difficulty is three. The difficulty is three. Who's a system? That's every card I think. I am. You can make it a card. It's the middle of the deck here. It's the middle of the deck here. I did. That's when I got the fake card. There you go. Boom. Wow. What was it? Grace and bigger. Grace and bigger. Difficulty of three. Difficulty of three. I had a negative one. I had a negative one. A total of six. What? I would have seven. Drawed like a boss. Three. And it's minus three. No, I actually stacked the deck. When we reached off hold, I made sure I got the good one. There's a huge... And the lot of you just reach under and roll it off of a priest. A little bit of a crunching sound. I just pretend I'm lifting when I'm not actually doing this. And then the can stir up it next to you. The canister hits the... He thinks the steel. And there's all a frong kind of rain that kind of echoes through the canopy. Crick sits back and like wraps his hands around his knees and starts rocking back and forth. Captain's not here? Captain's not here. Just crick and that random guy that we don't know of. Sir, your name, this is, I mean, emergency, sure, but I've been like five minutes a little minute. Hey. Tobias. I thought you were saying... Hey, Tommy. Bring Tobias. Hey, thank you. Sir. Chief airman. Doctors. This is your job. This is my job anymore. My job anymore. This is the corner. I was supposed to. Speaking to Dr. Ian. This is a jabber corner. This is a jabber corner. Thank you. Not a doctor? No, I can do. When you roll it off, you notice he has a, he must have reached up to prevent it from landing on him in some sort of reactionary way, and his hand has been pushed right through his sternum. Oh. Why didn't? Inside his chest. He is still not really breathing so much as gasping. Oh, he's still very... He's got a pulse. We should put him out of his misery. I thought he was gone. I thought you were a doctor. He is. I have an anthropologist. When you get up close to him, you notice he is attempting to remove his lips, but all that's happening is a little bit of blood is kind of coming out and moving down his chin. Let's get this man some wine. Get him a piece of paper and a pencil. Fits kneels over the father, and whispers extreme function is only he can slur up. That is awesome. What did you say? Give you an extra experience once just for knowing the words extreme function if this were not going in. What is extreme function for the... Asterance. What? Asterance. Right. Okay. Final healing. Why have you never told me it's gone? Ending with, where's the Whitney? Yes. I'm going to work on a Whitney. I'm going to work on a Whitney. I'm going to work on a Whitney. Getting in this cubby, the three things are just haphazardly tossed all around. It looked like when the canister fell, it hit the wall before it hit him, and all of his belongings, which are two small boxes, and a steamer trunk, have just been roamed to the other side of the cubby. It's one of the things that Crick is leaning on when he's rocking back and forth. I'm trying to make this guy as comfortable as possible while he slips away. He's trying to talk in any way. And if he stays, I'm right there from there. I can hear him. And you speak Latin. So... He's obviously trying to say something. He just doesn't have any errands, as long as to be able to say anything. Can I re-live? I just try to understand what he's saying, and I don't know if I can answer it. Okay. Where does this legally stand, Mr. Hank? Whose jurisdiction? I think I'm going to have to have a conversation with the captain about what to do, but I would politely ask the passengers to return to the passenger conduit, and seek your comfort as best you are able. We will send another steward to check on you, as he looks at Crick and his hysterics, to make sure that everyone is as comfortable as possible. We will let you know, as soon as the captain makes the decision, what will happen? I think it works. You're coming up? I was. I probably get there just in time to be turned back around, and I'm just leaving the wine. Yeah. I give it to Crick. Crick, please. This wasn't probably not your fault. Relax. Calm down. Feel free to talk to us later. Yes. He's doing that. I'm going to go over and try and help Crick to his feet and very discreetly pick up the two small packages. Yes. I'm going to take the big one on discreetly. Yes. I'll grab it. Which one? You're seeing the steamer truck. No. The two small packages. No, fine. I'll grab the father's. Just to see what he was. All right. Slow his open up. Crick too. Let me know. There's a bottle of wine. Anyway, how about you? You want to investigate it? I do. Go back to put it in his cubby. He's now talking to Fred. I'm assuming I can see them kind of going in and looking through the stuff. So I'm going to try to distract the bias. So he's not looking in their direction asking him, you know, is this writing and listing happen often and is or something you guys can get. I can help put the body in some kind of bag or something if you've got up trying to talk to him about stuff that distract him other checking out the quarters. He basically says he needs to talk to the captain before any decisions are made and he's attempting to get you to leave. Can you pick up the two about are you opening them? No, I want to take them with me. I'm going to try and sneak them out of there and because he told all the passengers to go. Yes. So I'm going to grab the two small packages and piece out. Make. Oh my Lord. Guile and. I let you do Grayson Guile or Grayson's self. Do I? How are Guile? I don't have either. I will let you flip so that you can use the better of the two results although you have to use Guile. Okay. That's what you do. You're distracting. It's steamer truck back in its cubby and discreetly and not discreetly. Yeah, I'd like to accidentally help him because I'm trying to help. This is the time you pull a non-red cart. Yeah. Ready? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You have to be as you're beating his social defense and his social defense is a five. Aww. Boy. Darn it. So. I don't know what we're doing. I don't know what we're doing. I don't know what we're doing. You're working out there there. Oh. Well, I've got two with Grace. Here. Now, Jim's character, the doctor, pulled the four. And I have him plus one. Mr. Trowbridge. Plus one more. So, till the five is-- You have-- Distraction. I have a presence of one. I don't have-- You don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I don't have a guy. No. I just want to make sure I understand. So. Where exactly was everybody when this guy died? The two girls were still down in the thing. And then you were in the mail room. Is that you? I mean Sebastian. Sebastian and Fitzwilliam Slow, they were about halfway toward it. They were pushing the coffin back. Everyone else except for Crick and the priest were moving mail. So Crick and the priest were gone and the guy giving orders was with us. He was with us. He was with you. Okay, so Crick and the priest were the only two people on account of four other than the captain. Well, there's all the workers in the room. And then two. Oh yeah. From my luggage, I'd like to remove a new style film camera, which I apparently have. A notebook and a pen. Take a picture with the body for later. I'm curious. Don't judge me. It's morbid. This boy is just my way through this. I'd call Tobias that he needs my help, but getting this cleaned up and getting the body and putting something that we know. Again, let me talk to the captain first. Please return to the passenger cabin. Yes. Yes. Flash. Fits. Come on. Now, as you are leaving, the last people who are lingering, so anyone who didn't leave with urgency. That would be me. Everyone with sound on your target can give me a focus and composure, which is a perception. Would you say I lost all the urgency? You can decide that for yourself. Well, because I kind of did. I was trying to be urgent and discreet and getting out of the packages. You were kind of doing a different thing. What's the difficulty? The difficulty is a three. I feel like I moved slowly. I would not describe it as words urgently. Right. Look at this. Beautiful. Yay. Get a five and a four. Hit the table. Did you succeed? Clicking out of the middle is good. It's been better for me. I got a two. I got a total of four. Cheers. Positive four. Positive four. Well done. I have two focus. With my four, I would be at six. As you are leaving, there is this hand motion that Hay does, which is just a thank you. As he leaves, the jacket that he's wearing slides off his sleeve. And if he's seated on that test, you see a bright, red, crazy spot right behind his cuff. Blood? Blood, right? You would know for certain. Mm-hmm. It's blood. I see it but probably discarded as there was a dead body. We were all just around leaking lots of blood. I probably have a lot on that. Yeah. Anybody that was moving here. Yeah. We have blood. But I don't think he helped us. I wasn't present when the body was found, though, when everyone else was rushing over. He was with us. I was slow to get there. But that's all. He was with you. But he never actually helped you move the canister. Well, right, what I'm saying is that he was with us when we freestuck. That's true. So. You might have sprayed a bit with a canister. So I would go down to the... Well, I'll descend. Everyone is back together and you are all the passenger gone below. There is a fresh port forward. Yes. Adit. Thank you very much. Please, to calm your nerves. Everyone. Go ahead. That mine. His big hair and his playing with the children on the floor and Mr. Pitcairn is anxiously awaiting everyone coming back down. He walks up to you as the best dressed gentleman in the room. Mm-hmm. What went on up there? It's terrible. The mail slipped down to get on the list and a hydrogen tin fell on the first day. His last will was to look at all and enjoy his wine. Oh. It's terrible. We should honor his wishes, of course. I'm asking everybody if they saw Tobias handling the body or touching anything. They asked why I'll talk. I did not notice him handling the body. Certainly not when we were lifting the canister. But I was a bit distracted by trying to figure out how that thing fell. Certainly a servant's working. I imagine he did. You would? I lifted. I'm not carrying a body. It's gross. Ah. So the trunk is in this room as well? Oh, yeah, I brought it. He's using the styling. It's just... It's all... It's all... Down the ladder. I just like... So I'm gonna catch this. I'm also gonna take the two packages over to Casper and ask him what he found in the trunk. I think anything. Ah. Nothing. They stole your stuff. Focus and composure. You can call these zeroes. Just a fix. Okay. Focus is two. And composure is two. It's four. This is four. Whoa, whoa. He opens it and says, "Look, there's something in it." Which you see is a wax seal that went around the entire inside edge. Question. So since this is 1896, they used to put belladonna in their wax when we would do seals so that if the wax was burned or broken, then it wouldn't let off something that would make your people's styling. As... Look at her. Look at her. Oh, wow. So if it were, then whoever did it, their pupils would be huge right now. Is that something that I would jungle as belladonna plants and enter their own regime? Anthropologists here. I'll tell you that this is, this is not normal human wax. Okay. Noted. This is something strange. It looks like it has something in it. You're not exactly certain what, but it's not. It's certainly big enough to have a person in it, correct? The truck? Yeah. I mean, if you kind of folded them in it. I mean, it would not be comfortable if you're all living or something. It was sealed to keep something out or keep something in it. Something in it. Yeah. Slow approaches to boxes. What are we looking at? I'm going to pass. I'm going to pass him one of the packages and tell him that these were the other items that the priest brought on the zeppelin. The canister was pretty far away from where they climbed up, right? How did the priest get all the way there? He walked right past us while we were working. Oh, there was an impressive amount of dereliction of duty that happened up there. Yes. Sebastian walked past. 30 walked past the mansion. Nobody showed up to it. And fits as we moved your father's casket. Well, thank you. Yes. I like how you thanked the man doing it. Well done, brother. Okay, so what do we find when we open the casket? Candles. A golden cross. Some small priest vestments. If you know what souls are. I'm writing this in my notebook. And a file of powder, which looks to be silver. Hey, would anybody know what that is used for? I'm not going to. No one is speaking. Do you have any thoughts on this, Casper? You said that one of the straps broke, independent of the other. That's highly unusual, isn't it? Oh, yes. It would be very strange for wear and tear to do such a thing. They both broke at the same time. And it was the higher one. Yes, which is even more unlikely. What would cause the initial? Listening the ship to begin with. Magic? A bunch of mail form. Wait, that doesn't happen by itself. It does. Look, I had to think of third doctor. We're not all doctors, doctor. How frequent is magic in this world? In the clockwork world, everyone believes in magic, but why would you want to do it? If magic only works part of the time and it's heavily reliant upon will and it only does very certain things and it takes a lot of study and a lot of time to cast, there's this thing called science. There always works. And it's also cheaper and easier to accomplish. Unless you want to talk to demons, in which case that would not be something that you should be doing anymore. That's true. I think my character is probably heading back to the room at this point, wanting to be left a bit. I don't care about rap. So where are you going specifically? By Corbors. Okay. Let you share with you. Hey. That's what we're noticing. I'm leaving. Is this the way? You are walking down the corridor. You know, there are doors on the right and left at the various pieces and there's a court hole at the far end. And when you're staring down it, you can, uh... Wait, no, actually that goes the wrong way. You just go to your room. Someone looking the other way. Towards the captain's got on. Toward the pallet's out. That would be pretty much every one I think, except for Sebastian. You're sitting around and having this conversation. The box is right now. The trip here with the waxes and what these things are that were the priest's packages. And then all of a sudden, there's this kind of a muted popping sound. And then you see a body crash through the box. Okay. Of the pallet's gondola. And just literally fall out and down. So I'm going back up into the envelope. Who wants to join in? Another body. That's not good. It could be the same body. I'm still going up into the envelope. Who would like to fall into it? It's impossible to tell. Which body it was. This is from where the captain is? It's from the pallet's gondola. From the pallet's gondola. So it's where the navigators and the pallets and the captain are. And if they got the glass back. So like a body, it was just like thrown through the glass. Into the other, where the zeppelin is, or out of this. You would only see it, it was thrown out. Okay. So it just went outside. Oh, holy ocean. Is it fairly obvious the pop was a gun shot? It's really difficult to tell. It might have been just the glass shattering. It was a sound. But there's so much space between you and there. And it's also exterior space. It's almost impossible to tell what the sound is. Okay. Right. So I pick up the telephone to the captain. It rains while it's raining. I'm grabbing my medical bag and my cane and heading for the stairs up. I'm grabbing all of the zeppelin. You're not? No, go. But this time. I think everyone should stay here. No, I'm going to grab everything that we just unwrapped and take it to my room. Do we have equal price? I smuggled that whole crate. No, I'm not grabbing that. I'm grabbing the stuff from the package. So the candle. No. That is yours by rights. Go ahead. When we went up and then to the body, that was towards the captain. Mm-hmm. That's the only way to get there is approval. Mm-hmm. I gave it three solid rains before I'm just going to pan and let you go. Find out what's happening on foot. Yeah, it rains. There's no way it can rains and ends. Drop. Identify who it was. I think dangerous. It is. Someone just got thrown out a window. You're going to go charging over there? Yes. It's probably the end where we're going. Are you part of the military? What are you going to do? What class are you? Two. Up two? They're both two. Their job to do stuff like this. What do you think you're going to do? Well, sir, there are crew members who would handle this. I'm going to shut back for Mr. Dunn. One of those crew members, I think, just fell out the window. Yes, and there's many more to take his place and solve the problem. We don't need a bunch of them. My assumption is the person that threw them out the window is still there. Could you perhaps tell Mr. Dunn that something else is happening? Yes, I'll be happy to inform him of your reckless disregard for the rules of the Zeppelin. Yes, thank you. I'm glad. He's the one who almost let us tip over. He didn't do any of the mail stuff. As long as he wants to talk to me, it's fine because it's one second last of his running to danger and threatening our safety on the Zeppelin. There's a hole in the pilot's cabin. Yes, and let the engineers and the pilot. I'm going to charge up to stairs now. So I know because it's super important. Casper and Ian are going to the pilot's gondola alone. Well, alone. And going with me two people. Ian. Oh, man, the phone's here. Dr. Ian. Dr. Ian. So, indeed, it's not weaving the area that she chose to be in. Is moving stuff into the prison. No, I'm -- I went to go and put the stuff in the bedroom. Mr. Dunn will be told that things are happening but may not, in fact, join us. The engine's happening. The pilot is that way. Yeah, I still -- Your arms have been as an engineer. You do realize the wheel is an important part of engineering. It doesn't have a husband. I do. Up the stairs now. Believe me. Thank you. Are you engaging in social conflict? No. I am absolutely engaging him in social conflict. All right. Casper's totally bound to not do that. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. There's the thing about social conflict. You can be polite and hear her out. But you do not have to listen. You can just walk away. You will be seen as very rude by everyone here. But if that's not a bother to you. There's decorum from your class. So real quick. Everyone here, except me, is English, right? Am I back now? I'm already seen as rude. I'm German. And you're not arguing with ego and you're arguing with him, though? Well, he was the one who was, I thought, first, heading that way. Oh, I was the one who grabbed my bag and came as soon as I saw it happen and started heading. Yeah, but you're kidding. Are you willing to engage her in social conflict? Are you going to be rude and walk away from a distinguished person? You don't want a distinguished lady having a conversation about what the best course of action is. You've distinguished a bit of a question. Obviously, the jewelry and the fashion sense. I think it speaks very high. Class three, class two. Sorry. Oh, wow. (Laughter) I went to be the third class, too, by the way, based on her history. All right. She's two and a half. Casper is not particularly worried about seeming rude or standoffish to any of these people. Wait, what do you mean these people? Yeah, exactly. Exactly. (Laughter) What are you doing? All right? I'm doing it. I am rude when you stand on it. I just... I can continue. What are you doing? I'm... I want to examine the wax and the trunk that's still there. I want to know what color it is and I want to know if it has any scent to it. Because I want to see if anybody has any residue or anything on their sleeves. You know, it could have been me. Has you seen this in character? No. I don't even know what the seal is. I'm charging up the stains. This would be a focus and mysteries test for you. Typical to two. Three. Okay. Hold on after just a second. What do you do? Follow a manning with phones. I look at him. Just absolutely a gas to his both of their lack of decorum and I'm just shocked. Shock. He and Casper are going into the envelope. What is Augusta doing? Augusta is arguing with Fitz. We have to make sure Father's body gets home. Are you going to let them handle it? Is that what you're going to do through your entire life? Is let other people handle it? It's time for you to step up. Let's go. I carried that on my own back. All the way to steerage. That's fine. And if the impression burned, it isn't going to help. Go. Help them. You seem to be most qualified. I've been covering for you your entire life. Go. Then I get what I want. And I take a bottle and walk up the line. All right. Beautiful. So the three of you are going to the pilot's cabin and the rest of you are staying here. Absolutely. I'm actually going to check on Sebastian. Okay. The seal that was used, you're noticing that the wax was put on in a kind of stop and go pattern that has no practical use whatsoever. You can only assume that it was some sort of mystical purposes that it was put on in very specific timing. With that degree of success, you can probably assume that this box was used to buying something, something was being kept in here. We're all going to die, guys. We're all dead. Are you sharing this information? No, not really. Gee, thanks. We're going to find out the important details. We're all going to die. It's pretty standard, actually. Um, cool. I'm going to set and think about that for a minute. Okay. Beyond knowing that this box was used as a magical ritual, it was used as some sort of binding tool. What color is it? A wax. It's red. It is red, awesome. It doesn't have any weird scent or anything, either. Mm-hmm. Oh, there's the powder in it, which, upon closer inspection, you notice is the silver powder. Is the silver powder? So the base was trying to do something to keep it shut. And someone went through a hell of a lot of trouble to open it up. Are you keeping secret together? All the time. I tried to be someone different, guys. It doesn't. Just it worked. You rise up into the envelope, three of you were going. There's a calm in the envelope that is broken by the sound of feet on the catwalk. It's the catwalk above you. You're not sure how many there are, but there's at least one more above you. And it is the sound of something moving very quickly from the front of the ship to the back of the ship. Something or something? From the pilot's cavity. Something with two legs that's running. Can we see? From the pilot's cavity. I yell for it. Bias. And can I see who's up there? And when I yell for it to buy us, does it react? Something like that. When you yell, there's a hesitancy. But it doesn't stop. Who else? Who wears the words out? I was interested in my room. He's with us? I thought you went to get him. I could go to get him, but I should be able to notify me that it was role-play it. Alright. So you hear a knocking in your door. Go away. You hear a knocking in your door. Go away. Are you always this impolite to ladies or just to everyone in general? Leave me be. Open the door, please. There's been a development. I swing the door out and I say, "Leave me be woman." What do I see immediately? What do I see when he opens the door? You know, I would definitely be gauging the situation. He's changed dramatically. His demeanor. What are you doing in there? Yeah, what are you doing in there? I'm not going to tell everyone what I'm doing in there. There's only so much time. We'll just tell them I didn't hear you, but what did I see? I suspect that the substance that I have in there is something to be inhaled of wine variety. It's illegal in 1896. Oh. No. It's just not legal to move it without paying care. Right. And a bit frowned upon for a class two or three individual to be partaking or is it more common? I mean, most things that make you heavily intoxicated are frowned upon. Yes, so I have prepared a snack of sorts. Right. In the moment that the door is open, I say someone has been pushed out of the pilot's cabinet. The door is not open long enough for you to get out. If you want to start not that big, you can hear everything you say. When he goes to the door, I just put my arm in the way. Well, that was the italics on that part. The door slams. It's fake. To a stud. Yeah, it's a prosthetic. It's okay. Again. Is it an obvious prosthetic? What is that? You were right. I only put the door in the parlor. You will be there now. Let's go. Oh, my goodness. I social combat on this one. All right. Go. Yay. It's a social combat. I have some things to snort. I am upset with the level that an addict would be of somebody trying to stop them from having their drugs. He could have been using the best. Yes. They could have been having a shuffle and deal. Oh, because we're starting combat, so we reshuff. And anyone that wants to participate in the social conflict because it's a small dondola. Yes. So you too. On YouTube. And Anthony. Alright. Beach him. In social conflict, initiative is not necessarily as regimented as it is in physical conflict. It's a much more conversational. But, what I'm going to do is I'm going to give you four cards. You're going to discard down to three. You need to look at them. You discard your worst card and discard a face up to the center in there. You can rid of it. And I just put three face up as well. Is anyone else involving themselves in this social conflict, the Sebastian out of this room? Not involved. Not interested. I'm not interested. I'm staying out of that. You help, but get involved. She's done. I'm waiting for attentions to not be so high so that I can-- Well, I'll deal you in and then you can-- You can? You don't have to use the card. Sure. Optionally interrupt. I see. I think I understand the support. So, take your three cards. So, take one and throw it on board. And place them right. And top your character. Turn out the worst one. Turn out the worst one. Turn out the worst one. Now, this is how this works. In combat, there's something called an avenue of attack. It's very easy to conceptualize an avenue of attack in physical conflict. It is a clear line of space for you and your opponent. Right. Like, if there are a wall in between us, I couldn't hit you. But since there's a space, I can punch or stab or whatever. This is an avenue of attack. Usually, in physical conflict, a person will have three avenues of attack, kind of around them. And beyond that, you really can't get a good shot on someone in melee. In ranged attacks, all you need is an open avenue. Multiple people can use the same avenue. In physical attacks, when you step in on someone, you occupy it. And no more than three people can attack a person at once. You can help people on duels. It's like stabbing over shoulders and that sort of thing. In social conflict, there's only one line of conversation. So there is one avenue of attack. So the first person to step into it is kind of a primary mover that's deciding what's being argued. Other people can either help. They can hurt. They can distract. But there's only one line of argument that can actually be argued. And I'm assuming you're the one that's defining the argument. Right. And I think you have the highest card on the table, except for you. Dr. Beachham has the highest card on table. She has the highest card on the table. But are you passing? I had an optional interrupt. What did I misunderstand? You can just kind of sit on the card and interrupt later if you want to. You kind of want to do that. Right now, they're not saying anything that important that I want to listen to. But I'm assuming their voices will be raised. And it's a small area. You have the highest initiative card in this immediate exchange. Now, you can be like, leave me alone and argue that. Or you can wait for her to initiate, which would be civil. I will always be heard of anything, but civil is so far. So he has a card higher than 79. Okay. Just wanted to make sure I understood why he. For those listening at home, we're talking about the card number at the top of the clockwork cards that break ties between ones that have the same card value. That's between one and one hundred, as opposed to the number of cards between a negative five and a positive five. Exactly. Yeah, they both have three, but there's percentages on the top. Now, you are attempting to convince Sebastian of something, so what are you trying to convince him? I'm trying to convince him that the situation in the parlor, or the sitting room, requires his immediate tension to leave his room and not take his drugs. Now, you have to define what your disposition is toward that. You can be hostile, guarded, distracted. I will be hostile. Alright, so go ahead and take a little chip there and put it on the H to mark your disposition as hostile. You are attempting to convince her to leave you alone. You're trying to fight her so you can change your own disposition. So if she moves it, you can be like, "I want nothing to do with this." Or you can try to convince her to leave. I want her to leave, maybe. What is your disposition to leaving him alone? I believe that him taking cocaine makes him unpredictable. And what I'm looking for in this trip is a high degree of predictability. So I am very hostile to his reticking and his recreational drugs. She knows that he's taking... Well, she looked at the Roman song. She's the only one that knows, though. She hasn't said anything out loud yet. No, not yet. Kind of like you with the magical right that's threatening over there. Right, yes. But you don't just keep that under your hand. That's not the right moment, guys. Is this? That way you can move. I also don't really know what I can trust. So, you're initiating the conflict, so you flip over a card. It's only getting worse. Wow, it is getting worse. There we go. Make your argument, please be brief, and then you'll make your attack. This is neither the time of the place where what you're partaking in. Into the sitting room, please. Our safety is in jeopardy. Flip a card. You are attempting to parlay, it sounds like. Yes. I think I'm actually a little stronger with parlay, and I only get three. You also have a history ability. Right, and I've got to move him all the way. Right. And I've got to move him far in one sequence. And it is really difficult to do that. You would have to draw very, very well. Okay, well, then that's what I'll be. And I would recommend using your mastery ability. Right now, sure. So, declare it. I declare that I'm using my silver tongue. And I am really trying to convince you that you need to not partake. If she succeeds, it would move you two steps rather than one. And I'll explain that in a second. Okay, so I have a parlay of three, and I'm assuming I was using my presence. Correct. So, I had six plus one is seven. His social defense is a five, so you succeeded the boss of two. Right. Now, that is a success, which would normally move you from hostile to guarded. But since he's using a mastery ability of her, silver tongue, and expert conversational tactics, it has moved you to indifferent, which means you don't really feel one way or the other about this, but you're still annoyed. Yeah, I'm really kind of just getting on your nerves, and the whole idea of just having fun and relaxing is becoming, I guess, a little less appealing. Actually, your conversation with him just brings that up on another one. I know, right? I get angry. You have occupied the avenue of attack by making that attack. Yes. Anyone that wants to convince him one way or the other now has to assist you. So, you're kind of annoyed. Your disposition is a role-playing help. Until you get pushed off the scale, it doesn't really affect you mechanically at all. But you now have the highest initiative card. You can report if you desire. You were not present upstairs. You did not see what I saw leave me be. I do not wish to be around anybody. Flip your card. You can use parlay. You can use command. It depends on whether you're kind of pushing people away. Both parlay and command are zero for me. I would let you use guile, particularly if you're not actually caring about what's going on. You're just making excuses. I probably would say that that's sufficient. So, you're starting at a five and your social defense is a... Six. ...which are like parlay. You could use that. So, we're six. So, you're at a negative one before you flip. Negative. Oh, they have eyes. Okay, that is a remarkable failure, which means your opponent places a social condition on you. You do not have any social weapons, because we don't use those in con games. So, you can flip any card you want. Aggravated? Or is that not really what we're looking for? Well, aggravated. If you have an existing condition, it becomes persistent. Otherwise, it's treated as dazed. Dazed, why so? We have lots of dazed all around us. So, um, which makes sense for you. Just taking fucking pain. It's like you've stolen already. We're trying to take my cocaine. She's depriving me of some activities. If you wanted to react to him, you would flip two cars. But since it's only a back-and-forth between two people. Right. It doesn't really affect you. It's not really going to come up in this particular scenario. Does his failure move him along the tracks as he failed so miserably? If he were attempting to change his own disposition, it would be his attempting to change yours. Why? But your disposition can't get worse than hostile. Right. I'm already very much against his drug use. So, it's my turn again at this point? Since you failed a negative four. A negative four? And he's already at the hostile? You basically moved him off. You cannot convince him, though. You've lost that ability. Why'd he lose that ability? He moved you off the track. Oh, right. He was so bad at it. You can't get worse than hostile? Right. So, you basically move off. So, I would have gained because of his failure, basically. I would have gained one step. One step. Okay. So, you can't convince me. So, I'm playing with House money at this point, right? I mean, basically. I can't lose. You can't convince me. You can't convince me to leave. But whether or not you can convince me to come out. Right. I was just wondering when, if at all, am I allowed to interject? If she's asking to assist, you can assist either one of them when they're active. If they like me. So, you could now, like, if you think he should partake in cocaine, then you can add to it. I was going to say he didn't let it go. Right. If he wants to drown himself in his own misery, that's fine. We have bigger things to worry about. Right. And that would be something that she would do during his retort. Retort, which went terribly. Right. Right. And then for the sake of learning the system, would you like to assist that particular? Sure. Okay. So, you were attempting, I would imagine that's a parlay, right? Yeah. Sounds like she's not being overly aggressive. Okay. So, that's a presence in parlay. So, she would flip any two cards to interrupt, correct? Or does this? She's assisting you just flip one just once, but it's happening on his turn. We're kind of back. Yeah. No, that's fine. Yeah. So, flip over whatever card you want to. It doesn't matter. You want to get your lowest one, right? Yeah. To give yourself the option of... Twitting your cards. Yeah. And I'm supposed to... What is it, parlay and what? Presence. So, am I adding these or am I... You're flipping a new card. You're flipping a brand new card and they're all in here. Are you positive one? The answer is a total of five. Two presents, two parlay, one. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, you're going to get a total of five. So, the two of you are working together. So, as long as you are trying to achieve the same end, you can use whichever is the most relevant combination of aptitude and skill. So, you're going to continue to use parlay. I think parlay works really well for me. If you're coming in with parlay, that kind of means you're negotiating. If you're coming in with command, you're starting to work orders. You don't have to use the same. You just have to achieve the same end. Oh, man, presence command is six. I'd go for that. Same here. So, I think by six and I add one to it, which is seven. Your defense, your social defense is five. So, a positive two and... No, I got a zero. A positive one. Okay, so, I was able to give her a positive two. She was only able to get a positive one. So, that succeeds with the two, which moves you toward a variable. You're starting to see the truth in that, but you're not persuaded. They might have a good point. You don't care. You're not really... What would it be? I'm at it. I am beyond reason. I may be close to losing this battle because I'm getting... ...growing tired of it, but I'm not by any means. You're believing that I should not be doing cocaine. No, no, no, no, no. I don't mean that you should lose cocaine. That's why you're struggling. And I certainly don't mean you shouldn't be doing cocaine at all. I mean, at this moment is what my character is striving for. Although, to the kids at home, we are not pro-working. No, no, no. So, what would have been really cool, though, is if I would have... ...had my large success last time I hit it. It was like a plus six or so. Was it exceptional? Was that what it was called? Except fours are remarkable. Eights. And eight is exceptional. So, I had a remarkable success. I could have flipped a maneuver and opened up the second line of attack. Yes, you could have. That would have been amazing. It would have totally blew him away. Yes. Alright, okay. Just for future reference. Okay, you have a rebuttal, of course. Although, does it matter, since he can't convince me to sum off the chart, or no? Can I use my solid? Yes, you can. Can I do myself? Yes. But he can also hurt himself. You can if you do really badly. I will do that. You flip your initiative card, you have to make an action. You basically are arguing against her, and if you succeed, you can move your own disposition. Yes. You're being selfish. Selfish. I know you not, and owe you nothing. No, but my life is bending in your hands. So, get out here. You are asking of me something I am unwilling to do. Unwilling or unable. You're in five, and he's got six. Oh, geez. I'm getting one. Yes. Now I'm capable. Is he going over? No. He has been like this at negative four. Yeah, you would have had to get a card. He just failed. I'm still a remarkable failure. Good serve. For the last time. Your presence is needed. The ship is in danger. Madam. No. Okay, so I have a six. And there's no way for me to add to that at all, right? Just it is what it is. It is what it is. Okay, six. He spent ether. We flipped. I'm going to do that. I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed. No, no, no. Now, do we have to take that as I was assisted? You could not. It was going somewhere like that. Technically, you can keep playing pass. It makes this action fail, but this is the last action. Right. Wait, argue back. You get a minus four. I think I'll pass. Yes. Are you claiming everything? I am. Yes. Because the combat is now over, so everything is reset. So I get so livid that he likes my brother as a useless man who chooses. Thank you. So I did not use that ether. And I call him many of you. Normally, at the game table, I would say people are declaring hostile intent. I would say, do you really want to do a social conflict because the odds are success unless you get opening up another avenue of attack or drawing with a DOS 8, which sometimes isn't possible. Right. I just know it was good at it, so I wanted to give it a shot. I also wanted to play it out and see what it felt like. That's why I wanted to do it, too. But I went with hostile because... Oh, it made sense? Yeah. I worked in itching for drugs in my own room, and this woman is knocking on my door. And I have made my effort to get her to leave. I've already booked. So at this point now, we haven't decided how does that play out? I think I turned towards Augusta and went, like I was shocked at what she said. Like she went so old in the tap, I'm going to go over the tap. I turned towards her and he was able to slam the door because I moved my body out of the way of the arm. All right. Well done. Well it does. I am now high as a kite while also in an airship. Right. Let me take care of the three people that are... You guys are out of town.
