The end of the Heart of Flame adventure. Still time to get in some questions to the players and the dm. Enjoy and Happy New Year!

[Music] Hello and welcome to Night to the Night Actual Play Podcast. This D&D 5th Edition Adventure, Heart of Flame, is written and run by your DM Mike. And now, please enjoy Episode 255, titled "I Want Disadvantage." Actual Play begins immediately, and Happy New Year 2016. [Music] This is Mike, your Dungeon Master for the Campaign, Heart of Flame, starting on my right is... I'm Michael, playing Vantish Bodeck, a Hill Dwarf Cleric, Combat Veteran, and member of the Roon Hammer Clan. I'm Jim, playing Theta of the Roon Hammer Clan, Level 4 Fighter, Mountain Dwarf, Fun Guy. I'm Tom, playing Dally, Level 4, Steampunk Sorcerer, and Tinker, adopted daughter of Thorel Roon Hammer. Scott, playing Dain Roon Hammer, 3rd Level Bobble, Good, Paladin of Storm, and the Stion of the Roon Hammer Clan. Thomas, playing Barrow Iron Hearth, a 4th Level Fighter, and a member of the Roon Hammer Clan. John, playing Curth, 1st Level Wizard, 3rd Level Rogue, X-Con, totally performed. Totally performed. An area question. When last we left here, Curth, while he was facing this strange entity that appeared to be writhing like a mix between an Onemix Squid and an Ebon Flame, just kind of lashing, causing all sorts of trouble for the human knights. And the tentacles was this mysterious chest that was being guarded by the humans, and Curth had used his magic to detonate the contraption that Dally had rigged the back up after having been unsuccessfully used against you guys. And it sets off an enormous explosion in an underground small contained area surrounded by rock. Awesome. Good plan. So, I'm going to go to Barrow. You were on the ground fighting against the Gargoyles. Yes, we had smashed two of them effectively. You did. The third was retreating, but not actually retreating now that I think about it, because he was entering the... He was running into the catacombs. He was running in. You feel and hear a loud explosion from within the caverns underneath the terrace farm, and a big wave of dust and debris shoots out through the doors, blowing out some of the doors, and out through some of the windows, and kind of just spatters against the Gargoyles, but he's still within reach of you. All right, I've got 25 feet of movement and an attack, so I'm going to chase this Gargoyle into the tunnel, and I read this earlier, you can break up movement, so I'm going to move as far as I need to to get into melee range, attack him, and then continue moving into the tunnel, because I want to go figure out why our group of survivors just exploded. Okay, so how about this? How about I can say that you can move 20 feet to engage him, and then that will leave you with another 5 feet of movement? Yes. That is a possibility. I will now be attacking him. If he doesn't die, do you get attacked? Opportunity once. Leaving his area? Probably. Probably. Consideration. It's fine, I don't know, particularly. I don't know, I look at my health and blood, but whatever. I'll survive. I roll the 12. This is just a very bad choice of dice, plus 3 is 15 to 7 is... You barely hit it, but you hit it. Alright, I roll 2 dice 6, and then I'm adding a die... Well, I don't need to anymore. I will save that for later. Originally, it was moving further into the tunnel, so I wanted to allow theta to make some additional moves with my powers, but it's no longer necessary. You'll be able to get an attack in before you leave as well. Okay. 2 dice 6 plus nothing but straight strikes, and magic bonus. Reroll 2. That's as shitty as I can possibly get. 2 dice 6. 6 plus 5 is total of 11 damage. You're using... I have a large sledgehammer made for breaking rock. Right, and you knock a few chips off, but the guardroll is going... Are you going to keep on moving? Yeah, an additional 5 feet into the tunnel. I want to go figure out what's up with this explosion. Alright, so now you move 5 feet away from there before you are leaving and allowing him to attack you. Because you're disengaging from them? No, I'm not disengaging your... I'm not disengaging or I'm making a full move. Because you didn't disengage? Because I didn't disengage, she's allowed to make an opportunity attack. Alright, and his reaction to you? He's got to beat a 17. And he just clips you in the back of the shoulder? Right. With his claws, he rakes across you, and this is... Oh, by the way, this is slashing damage. This is the first time the resistance has ever happened. Slaw this slashing before has missed you. This time he slashes at your back, and he hits you for 6 points of damage, which you take. 3. 3. If it works the way I think it does. Yeah. And if it doesn't, we're going to go with that for now. And yet, now it's his turn. [laughter] Bring it. So... I'd like to point out that Thadon was in direct combat with him, so if he leaves 5 feet, he's either got to disengage or... So, I'd you even think. But... I'd it is. Yes. So, he's... Thadon, pull aggro better. Jesus, have you even been hit? Aren't you a fighter? [laughter] So, he wades in with a bite and attack. Oh, and I'm sorry, he's clawing and biting at you. Wait a minute. Who? Me, Barrow. Oh, Barrow, that's right. He's 5 feet apart. He's 5 feet apart. I'm sorry, he's advancing 5 feet to Barrow. Because he was engaged with both Thadon and Barrow. Okay. Is he disengaging? Is he disengaging? Because otherwise, Thadon gets to whack him as he leaves. Oh, that's true. I did roll out or even to go. It was with Thadon. I don't know if it was against Barrow, so you're right. So, he is going to then... He's going to move away from Thadon. You get an opportunity attack. He smells blood, and the other dwarf wants to take him out. You got a hit, you got a solid hit, and he wants to finish me off. Because I do look quite battered at this point. I'm going to hit him with a goating attack. What does that mean? Let's see if I hit him first. I probably won't. I rolled a 4. That's all I want. Not very likely. Just wait, bye-bye. Your goating attack is... Yeah, you stupid stone golem. You big dummy. Yeah, I got like 11. Okay, you miss. So far, we're doing our worst. When they said do your worst, that's what we're doing. So, the gargoyle leaves Thadon, steps up behind Barrow, and bites and claws at him. This lumber and gate takes him directly out of the arc of Thadon's hammer. Oh, geez. The bite, he bites his tongue with a natural one. Beautiful. But the slashing will hit. I can handle that. I don't think he can possibly kill me with a slashing attack. No. He can give it a go. Oh, please. And he hits you for four points of damage. Which becomes two. I'm still over. I'm sorry to get there. Bring it, bring it on. This is like a sissy waterfall. At the front, the pallet and the cleric are holding the line from their vantage. They see that part of the forest below the plateau, lost in the mist, reflects what appears to be a large amount of flame. And there's the sounds of a pitched battle is going on in the woods down below the plateau. Okay, shuts down. Right. Okay. So that is the ranger and the barbarians and the orcs that are engaged out there. So the zombie lurches to you. The wait for it. And you easily deflect its clumsy slam attack. I say I forgive you brother. Because he's a dwarf and I feel terrible that this has happened down. Okay. I forgive you as a kill him. Dally. Dally is going to run down and head towards where she heard the explosion. If you want to do an athletics check, treat it as difficult terrain. As long as you make it, otherwise you'll have half your speed as you kind of regain from your jump. Oh yeah. I got half my speed. I rolled a six. Her rocket boots didn't engage. That's just nine points. I got nowhere fast. So Dally drops down from the top of the. There's splinter gate everywhere. Yeah. I've got to climb over under around and through. But you land a tuck and roll and come up and then you can move towards where the explosion came of. You can see where Faden and Barrow are. Double teaming a guard oil right now. Okay. And the dust and debris is so kind of settling from and you begin to see smoke boiling out of the windows in the doorway. Are they within 120 feet? Us. Yeah. The fighters. Well the guard was specifically. Yeah. I shoot a fire bolt from my little fire pistol at the guard ball. 15. Oh that hits easy. Yeah. Plus things and stuff. That is fire damage not radiant correct? That is. Yeah. I don't do the radiant stuff. This is just a one dice ten fire damage. It would burn if it could. That was a whopping one point. It was so far away that by the time it got there. It was a spark. Okay. Now that it's a graze, it grazes the guard oil and a patch of its cloak is singed. It's got a little hold on it. It's got a little hand of flame on it. The lightly toasted guard oil still there. Yep. With your sledgehammer you approach it. You have to move five feet engaged in that hit. Go. Go. I do that. That's a hit. That's a hit. Beautiful. Gold 17 naturally. We're not doing the additions because that's all our classes for today. I figured. Right. I was just sharing. Unless it's a critical. I'm just going to say you hit. No, we don't have to do the math. I'm going to do the golden attack on it anyways because I can. It'll be dead. Probably. Just in case it isn't. No, we'll see. Uh, take it. Da, da, da, da. I don't want to die. Ten. Eight plus five is thirteen plus seven more. That's better. Oh, there we go. Twenty points of damage, huh? If he survives, he's got to make a wisdom check. If he wants to attack anybody but me. Eight plus five levels. So do you think? Okay. Well, I'll tell you what. That was a resounding blow and cracks Vayne all through him but he's still moving. That was very good. Vantage. Yeah, he's got to make a wisdom saving throw and he fails. He has disadvantage and everybody except me. Don't worry. He'll attack you. The zombie is within range. It must be if it's attacking. Yeah. Yeah, I just attack. We've got two of them. Do the chatter, Dave. That's it. Okay. Uh, bad luck. One die eight plus three. Eight. Six plus three is nine. So now you've got to roll. Do you see? You hit him but he's still Spanish. You didn't take a, you take a just a big chunk of flesh off him. But this one is the ever ready zombie. It just will not seem to give up the ghost. Did you do holy weapon or anything? Oh, yeah. Is your weapon double your radiant? No. Not unless you've got a spell on it. A standard issue battle act. Okay. Dave, I will try and finish off the one that seems to be resistant to dying. It's like my whack-a-mole, I don't know what's wrong. It's spinning around, hit it, sit down around, hit it. Sixteen is enough to hit. Oh yeah. Let's set him up. He knocks him down. Okay. Thirteen damage. And he dies. You need to cleave him in two. So he is down. Are you going to move or do anything? Um, yes. I'm going to charge towards the incoming zombies. Okay. Vantesh and Dane, I would like to have you make a perception roll. Uh, seventeen. Okay. Nine for Vantesh. Okay. Great. The mist and the stench maintain. Do you see in here the orange blow to the southeast of the fairly close fighting? But that is not your battle to worry about. And then you see another line of zombies approaching. My seventeen didn't know it's anything different than his nine? No. Okay. Okay. Curf. Even with your dark vision, you hear, right now your head feels like a bell that's just been wrong really hard. And all you hear is this kind of fucking jolly. And it's Ellie. It's where you are. Let's put it to cave. And yeah, so right now your vision is kind of wavering back and forth. You smell sulfur. You smell the stench of powder. The brie and rocks and dust is sifting down from above. Any of the torches that were in this room were extinguished. But there were a couple of magically glowing metal or spells that were up there. I asked you to make a cannon. Apparently you made a bomb. So what you've seen is the creature or being whatever it was that you had seen before that squid-like onyx creature. You're kind of stunned and dazed right now. But you can see what's happening. And you see for a moment looking at this you kind of focus. And it looks as if all these arms and limbs were there swinging, moving around. They've all been kind of parted and blown apart as if by a heavy breeze. And you see in their center what appears to be a black-scaled dragon born in it. What you also see is the onyx tentacles and this stuff is kind of like reassembling around her. She's looking at you and actually what she sees. I still look like her boss. Why? Because he got used to that solution. That's not working. You don't know that yet. You don't know that yet. The chest that she had been holding or that had been wrapped up in the tentacles was shattered by the explosion. And you see in a massive splintered wood and metal clasps is a pile of coins. Very small boxes and stuff like that. Scroll tubes. You also see what looks to be a large draconic skull. Also in the tentacles as they're reforming you see two of the humans are on the ground. They're not moving. The third human is on his hands and knees kind of shaking his head. And the human representative Sir Reginald is also picking himself up and just as he does another tentacle wraps itself around his neck. What I'd like you to do now is roll a safe throw and see how long these stun effects will affect you. I have that for a couple of guys here if you want to use them. I'm not sure what I want. So I'm going to do these. I'm going to use inspiration. Alright. I'm goody. Okay. Is this a constitution I imagine? This would be a constitution. It's a twelve. So you get plus one to that. Mm-hmm. Okay. Alright. You are considered incapacitated. You can't move and you can speak only falteringly. Her tentacles reach down, scoop up the skull and bring it to her. And as she gets a hold of it, the tentacles seem to envelop her again. So now all you see is this, the sonic's thing. Sir Reginald tries to scramble up and stop her. A lot of the civilians are all on the floor. Many of them are not moving. And you're through the tone in your ear. You begin to hear not screams but whimpering and wailing. Fear, pain. They're as far away from it as they can get even though it's in a closed area. And there's a lot of fear etched in all their faces. Okay. So what happens is Sir Reginald tries to... He's lifted off his feet by this tentacle. And even in your stun state, as a wizard, you can feel magic at work. And very roughly this tentacle drives Sir Reginald hard against the wall. And when he hits it, first of all, it's a bone-crushing slam. But then he starts to kind of shift or phase into the wall. And as he's kind of halfway sunk into the crumbling wall, that's when the tentacle lets go. And he is left locked and stranded in it. And he screams once and dies. Or appears to die. So then the tentacles kind of shift back to you. Most everyone else is cowering from this. And the tentacles lash out and attach themselves to you. Okay. But then as they touch you, they let go of you as if they were scalded. Okay. I still can't speak but falteringly, so I'll just deal with that. Alright. You hear like maybe someone's saying something or talking and you hear voices, but it's very hard to... So you really can't hear, you just hear a lot of... The tentacles are growing closer to you. You really can't move, you can't do anything, but you are still kind of like dazedly awake. So we're going to let that... you're stunned right now. Actually I'm going to stick with this for a bit. Alright. So the rest of you guys, other than Dane, who is charging ahead at the zombies, Vantech has going to make a choice about Barrow and Theiden still engage with the Gargoyle. And Barrow was on his way into "Go After Curth". And Dally was also trying to do this... Yeah, but not much farther away. Right. Okay. So there's time as all that's unfolding. So the tentacles, they seem to kind of split again, revealing this black-scaled recruiting. And she kind of cocks her head at you, and then she says something that actually begins to make it through your damage-sharing. And she says... and it's kind of hissing. Wait, I'm sorry, do you speak Draconic? No. I speak bad to orders. I don't speak Draconic. If it has a wizard, you might have taken that. I just wasn't sure. Yeah, no, no. Not with my upbringing. I think I was the only one. Okay. Well, she says something killer you as as well, but isn't there? Sorry. And I will let you... actually, that's a good point. The session might... I can remember. Yeah, I give you a good sound. Yeah, you give me a good idea. I want you to roll a... I do illusions. An intelligence check to see how well you remember what this. You said so... Wait, I want to give you my advantage. No, you don't. I did. Yeah, he can give you inspiration. Right, I thought you still had yours, but then I... No, I used it not to be stunned and most stunned. Hey, who's mine? I rolled an 18. Okay. She hisses and barks and makes noises at you. Mm-hmm. And what you recognize is some kind of language. I snare at her because I look like her boss, and I think that's working. Okay. But so then what happens is... She then kind of steps back. The tentacles close around her again. And then you feel more tremors and the ground begins to tremble. And again, there's more dust sifting down from the roof and the damage. And it still sinks here, but she sinks down into the earth as if it were almost like water. It's just like she can... And you've seen her this kind of stuff before, where she can travel through earth as well as we travel through air. And she seems to be transitioning away. Okay. And she disappears with the skull. Just as we burst into the room. And just as Barrow enters the room. I enter upon a scene of... Of course. Of course. It has... Devastation. It smells horrible. Were you the engineer? Or was the lead dead? Probably she was switched, but... Not behind you. No, you'd have rode the... No, you're still switched. You could handle it. It wouldn't attack me if I left, so I went to go help the civilians. It sounded like they were in trouble. But when I arrived here, there's nothing left for me. No, nothing left for me to kill. You see, just the last vestiges of this, like an onyx squid, kind of shifting into the sand and the dirt and the rock of the floor moving away. You see a dwarf and certain ropes to the right that sit in there, dazedly, and stunned. Like trying to think like... Dead bodies of the two human guards. A third human guard who is... Behind his hands and knees. And Sir Reginald is doing his best impersonation of Han Solo and carbonate. I'm gonna make a scrambling leap to grab the onyx squid because I don't really know what it is and I'm not really afraid of it because I just came in and saw something that seemed like an obvious problem. Alright, so you take your running leap and I will... My thighs are still tingling with magic, so... I don't remember exactly what that does, except that it like triples my ridiculous... How do you get a job? Distance is triple, not high, not length, both. Alright, so a athletics check to try to catch this thing for? Sure. Is that a figure? I dropped my die, but that's fine. I rolled a 12, naturally, and then I had a +6 for athletics for a total of 18. Which, I don't know... That's not a tag roll, that's a... That's the athletics roll to try to catch this thing before it leaves, but I'm spacing through rock. I may not, well, I may well not be able to catch this. You can get a... you can only take a swipe at it, but the... Whatever it is, seems to shift through the rock. And as dwarves, you guys know, and you've actually seen some of these things. Earth elementals, and other creatures, like zorns, and... Really high level priests? Other things that use Earth magic can move through stone as easily as moving through water or air. I go to check on the civilians to make sure they're not dead, and I don't know, you know, everyone. I just take a... I haven't finally able to move again. Look at this... Oh, yeah, the combat here. Clamethic. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I was a pre-friend to try to leave to get back to the other five. I try to relax the civilians, and that's it. You can pass on tonight. Oh, okay. People who are still attacking. You did see, by the way, you did see... A pile of the chest that was shattered. So there's coins, foxes, scroll tubes, and... Well, I saw Earth run over here, so I'm sure he's just yawning. So I'm sure if he is somewhere hiding in this room, which I believe he was here, we'll be on that, like... A metaphor on this sentence. A lot of the civilians and children, they all have... Well, I can do battlefield dressing. Yeah, they're... Most of them are all wounded or hurt in some way. Leading for the years. No. All right. This gargoyle has been mostly shattered, but it's been goaded to attack. I thought it was done. It was closely done. I looked by an attack at this time, and I would do, but I needed to take it to these people. I thought the last attack did it in. It moves over to... Fading... Apparently, its bite attack is horrible. Two back-to-back ones. He has really intense tosses. I guess. Upward at his mouth. He could get them out or do attack. But his claws slash against you? I was thinking he had no teeth. Yeah, he's gone to death. Goodness gracious. And you get three slashing damage. Ow. He don't resist me. Okay. Dean, what happens is that right now, you're the soul beacon that they can focus on. Sure. But they're still moving fairly slowly. So, they all move towards you, and they will... You can either reach them, or they will reach you in the next round. Okay. Could you please roll a perception check, and I want you to... If you don't already add your wisdom to it. That's not what I do for a perception cuz I got it. Okay, 19. Kind of above where you are. Flickering lights seem to be gathering... Like in the sky, or in the air above this area. Okay. And if you remember before, how there was strange auroras kind of shifting in... Well, now there seems to be a... And some of these random flashes, they... By the light now, you can kind of... You can light stuff and get a look, and what you begin to see is some of them are gathering. Like, they're starting to swirl and slowly turn, and the energies... And these like, photosick static charges that are going off, and they're colored all different kind of colors. But they all seem to be going from outside in... Kind of a conversion. Yeah, thank you. That's the word I was looking for. Converging, and it's... How high in the air would you say? I would say right now it is about 40 feet in the air. Okay. Right over his head. Not right over his head, but in his proximity. And Dallie's up next. You're about to Dallie. You also begin to feel something, because of your connection to chaos magic. You feel something. The way you describe it is, like, if you were feeling a light rain or a drizzle... And all of a sudden, from nowhere, that drizzle suddenly turned into a downpour. That's what it feels like to you, but with your sense of magic in the chaos around you. So, for some reason, something just happened to ramp up the intensity of the chaos magic, and it's localized to this area. Okay. So, I'm juiced. And by the way, if you are rolling anything that uses your chaos die, you'll have twice the chance that it will set off. Yeah, I'm making my way to the tunnel still. Okay. It appears that there's a large gargoyle plucking it, and you see Thaden is fighting it. And this gargoyle are sliding it out. Would a normal move take me to them, or? Yes. I do that. The normal move. And I walk up and place both hands on the golem and shock the shit out of it. Okay. There's stone. I'll go for it. Case it gloves. Yeah. You'll take it later? Yeah, describe that out. So, it's something where you are wearing gauntlets that shoot out little stunner prongs or... Oh, no. The kinetic energy of her running is stored in a Tesla coil that she then charges your gloves with. Don't I just slap my hands on and just run currency through? Okay. Clear. For the sake of turns. Which is the equivalent of, let you're basically casting a shotgun grasp. Yes. Okay. It's current. Current season one. God, currency would be money. The roll is 12, just to touch. And the chaos dice was 18. Roll your damage. You touch the gargoyle, run 40,000 volts through it. Yeah. Let's not roll a one. Oh, three. That's much better. Just three damage. Well, that's more than you needed. You shock it and it splinters and shatters, and your hands are left there, standing as a pile of rubble is at your feet. Look at that. Are you okay? Thumbs up from Satan. That one's been taking more than this fight than anyone. Wow. I'd take down a drag in mine. All right. I've got you, dude. Neither did you. I hit a rock. All right. The creature that was stopping you just is now a pile of rubble at your feet. And there's Dally as her electrodes retract into her gloves or whatever they do. I'd give her a thumbs up and I wouldn't say. Okay. Vantesh. You see dained up ahead of you. You see a wall of zombies. Well, 10. No other targets. Do the perception check for me and double your wisdom. Should be out there. 19. Okay. Well, you see suddenly erupt from off 30 or 40 feet to the west. These lights were gathering this cast magic and all of a sudden this clear spot just opens up and a pillar of infinite black erupts from the ground. And all of you almost vomit and ghostly with just the raw negative energy and power. It's just an empty void black pillar that erupts and really just part of your soul kind of twists when you see it. And then as you're recovering from that, you see what appears to be spirals of white emerge and almost as if it's like a fence or containing that black pillar. But you can kind of see through this lattice of white light. And that soul twisting feeling that was making it seems to have now stopped. The result also is you see all the zombies that were focused on dained now are all instantly mesmerized by this. Their attention is no longer on dained. It is on this pillar. Their attention meaning they turn that way, they move that way. They're now looking and moving in that direction towards that thing. All other things forgotten. And by the way, you also see that the pillar is approximately from your manager guessing. That's about five feet in diameter. And it's like a perfect column, a circular column. Did the white light have seemed like it was something that was an afterthought or something that was part of the same ritual to bring it to fruition? Do you have Arcana or anything like that? I have. Or religious? Yeah. I have a religion. If you have an Arcana or a religion, you can make a check for what you know about ritual magic. May I? Yes. Analytally Robin. You guys are stunned and shocked by this. Yes. But you do know enough with your being a paladin and being a priest. You both know that what you're witnessing is something that you can't even begin to understand or comprehend how to diametrically oppose forces. What do you presume to be? A pillar of negative plane energy wrapped in a cage of positive energy and how it's not causing. And I like each other. Yeah. Not causing a tremendous. It's an amazing. The forces and magic at work are, you can't even grasp it. Okay. And also in the light now, you see a, on the far side of it, you see what appears to be a smaller, middle-sized, thin, cloaked person. On the other side? You see the shadow through the way the lights are flickering and blinding you. You do see a shape, a figure on the far side of it that seems to be holding their hands out. What's the range roughly? From where you are, it would be about 80 feet. 90 feet? Okay. I'm going to do a guiding bolt then at it because I'm going to assume anybody who has controlled these zombies is a bad one. Okay. I might be wrong, but, you know, we'll let God sort that out. Or corn. Yeah, him. Sure. What the gods did you mean? No. Could you just read to me what guiding bolt is? A flash of light streaks towards a creature of your choice within range. Make a range spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes four die six radiant damage. That's what I wanted to check was whether it was just fire or if it was radiant. Okay. So you're firing at the pillars or if there's somebody behind the pillars controlling them? This creature that's controlling the zombies. Okay. She did roll poorly on his perception arm. Yeah. Twenty-two. Okay. That's about it. What happens is... Did I kill God? No. Yes, you did. You shot porn. With his own spell. Because of the energies that are between you and your target, they seem to kind of, and the chaos magic that is swirling, you know, around over where this pillar shoots up through the clouds. Your aim and the energy of your spell seems to kind of corkscrew and get absorbed into the pillar itself. I'm saying I'm out of my league. Well, the shooting God's pretty hard. He got stuck into the maelstrom of the chaotic magic that's going on. Okay. You got it. Yeah, it's better than shooting God being easy than everyone would do it. Alright, Dean. While the figure on the far side of the pillar is of some concern, I still am absolutely infuriated by the fact that my dwarven brothers and sisters are walking around in undead state and on life. And so I will do my best to usher them into the waiting arms of form. Okay. So the closest zombie to me gets attacked as I continue to run forward towards the pillar. Okay. And not only do you approach them and they have no notice or interest in you, you have advantage on any attack you make against them. Okay. So I hit, I roll a 17 plus 6 is 23. And I'm saying a prayer to Torm as I send them on their way. I rolled two twos which get to be re-rolled. So does that mean you're just saying a prayer or are you using a spell? No, just a prayer. Okay. Flavor. Ten plus, what is damage again? Strength and proficiency or just strength? Strength and magic. Strength, magic and weapon. Oh, your weapon damage plus strength plus mana bonus. Okay. A total of 14. And is your weapon holy or anything like that? Or radiant? I do have powers that can do that, but no, I'm just striking them with the great sort. I'm stating that in case we need it with the dark cloaked individual. Right. You hit the zombie. It takes a bunch of damage, but it ignores you and continues to chambal now a little bit more slowly into the bug zapper. And by this point you see the first of the zombies. Delly thinks the mechanics. That's my bug zapper. You see the first zombie kind of reached that white lattice. And in a blink of light, it is reduced to ash. Excellent. I am pleased. And I'm continuing the prayers for all of them that walk into the giant void. Setting their now-released souls to torn. That was a buy. I walk up next to Dane and join in the prayers. Dally seeing all the people down in hurt turns around and runs back. And lines a little spider send a message. I'm using message to Vantesh saying there are a lot of hurt people here. Please come and help. Vantesh, you get the... You get a little cold waiting. I'm busy watching the movie here. I have turned and I'm running towards both of them. Vantesh and my brother. You see this pillar in these energies. What you know of magic. And because you have a different... Yeah, understanding how they do. You think you can always do it better, but this is something... This is magic. I don't know magic. Fair enough. That's true. I keep forgetting. Yeah. This is amazing. Amazingly complicated. I sent a message to the clogged figure. How many can you send in the... Oh, it's a cam trip. I can send them all day. Okay. It's got a 120 feet ring. Sure. You can send a message to the person. It's just... Hello, Lady Owl. Now, when you sent a message, are they allowed to respond? Yes, yes. Okay. We should be over the same frequency or the after. You hear a voice that is familiar. Lady Owl. She goes, "Hello again, Kelly." It's okay. She's fine. Don't you know that? It probably wouldn't have tried to kill her. Well, it's really dangerous. I've known you were there. She's all clogged up. Well... She wasn't at all. Tim looks like an owl. Look. Thanks for the help. Allow this ritual to do its work, and all will be well. But, Dally... Yes. Still be on your guard. Oh, I am only here for the undead. And the lack thing in the middle, right? I mean, don't worry about that. And then she says the word you don't understand. Or maybe can't comprehend because your brain is trying to protect your sanity. So, where are the orcs? They're burning in the forms. I think the crazy habits. Well, yeah, the barbarians known as Hobbits may have taken care of them. But I don't know. The spider plugs. So, are we done? Yeah, so what happens now is the camera begins to pull away. The zombies all proceed into this pillar. The lattice turns them all into piles of ash. Very similar to what you may have witnessed in different areas when you saw the spots in the wilderness that you made into. And not just these dwarf zombies, but there are several other undead creatures that you hadn't even known about that come out of the air out of the forest and some out of the farmstead there. They walk by you without a second glance. They are all focused on this thing. And soon the area is cleansed of the undead. It was with a clap of thunder, the pillar and the lattice collapsed into each other and then disappeared, leaving nothing but a five foot diameter circle of scoured rock there on the top of the plateau. Similar to what you're familiar with. Are you seeing a wrap-up chance thing or something? Oh, yeah. Let me go inside. Barrow, you feel that this room probably isn't safe right now. It needs to be short up so you have... Conducting an evacuation to one of these other side rooms. It's totally definitely safe. Okay. People with multiple aspirations and bruises and bleeding ears and noses and they're leaving. There are several bodies still littered on the floor and there is the shattered mains of the chest. Still on the ground. Is there anyone dying? There is about all I can do now is spare the dying. And I do have some healing ability left. I have ten points of healing. Right. There is no one really dying. Well, we patched up. What you can do is you can tend the wounded. You can dispense your spells as needed and basically offer care. But pretty soon, like the stench has gone away, the sounds of battle have ceased. There is smoke. You still smell a lot of smoke in the air. But even that with the disappearance of the pillar, the weather patterns and all the chaos energy has been spent. And so begins to rain. And so now it's starting to rain and so the fires that are burning the woods look like they're not going to be... As big of a danger as you might have thought. So we collected treasure that was left under the cape. Yeah, if you're careful, Bill. Yeah, I had them. But I've been sifting through it with my invisible mage hand looking for things more valuable than coins. But still picking up an electron and you know, locking it in. Okay. So what it appears to be are gifts for the dwarves of Rockfall. You see several scroll-tubes that are filled with documents of missives of introduction, letters of credit, offers of treaty or not aggression or perhaps even peace. Different types of, well, Sir Reginald was a diplomat and was being sent as an envoy. I don't spend the time to read the paper unless I notice that. No, I'm giving you like, yeah, there are cane symbols. No, there's nothing magical, but there is a lot. I mean, there's a lot of wealth, there's jewels, there's gems. But most of them are in like raw material from because they... Right, they can't present refined gems to the people who do all of them. You are right. Yeah, this is then... What did you always bring in this chest to the dwarves? And it had the corny and skull in it that got taken. That's what it seemed like. And did you let us know what she said? Not yet. No one can speak to corny in here, I'm waiting for my boss. I think we're here now, right? Okay, well, I'm not looting things while Van Tesh is here. So I picked up as much of... I don't want to take all of one category because then they'll realize that's missing. So, you know, I picked up a couple sapphires and sent them. Under refined gems. Bromes, stuff, stuff, stuff. I'm going to stop you. I have an invisible hand that picks them up. I don't know that you do. I had to pocket it with your invisible hand. Levitating cash calls into my pocket, but are you paying attention that well? If you want, you can roll out and check to see how well you... Alright, but I want to disadvantage because I'm tending to civilians while he's fucking looting. I was going to be more... I had to watch this advantage. It makes sense. It makes sense. Oh, I'm sorry. We'll roll really well both times. You roll out safe, bro. Oh, I roll disadvantage. Two dice. Pick the lesser. I roll the 17, 90, and 15. Well, if what happens, I'm going to see how high can you get a number? 15 plus... What is it? It's a slight of hand, I suppose? Yeah. 18. What's the setting, son? Textured on, say, wisdom. Yeah, I roll the 19. It's pretty close. So? Oh, total 19. Total of 19. Okay. You don't see anything. No. You've got your hands over your ears. Well, I'm tending to dying to... Well, not even dying. Just keep wailing. I don't see anything. Anyway, Ventus shows up. And... By the way, if you want to write that in, you collect... You pocket six gems out of... Can I convert this right in a golden plot? Or do I have to keep track of these, and solve them? Yeah. There are about a hundred gold pieces of piece. Okay. How many? Six. That's money I didn't have. It's a lot of money. But they're in the raw, the raw... Mm-hmm. Yes. I might get them. I know what that is. This one are, you know, family. Uh, Ventus shows up. And... He's busy tending to people, but I'm like trying to get his attention proud of him. And I'm like... Listen to this. And I'm like... So you repeat as best you can. I reproduce the voice. The voice of... The dragon. And Ventus, new rule of... I'm just going to rule a skill check. Just to see how well... How well... How much are a garble this? Just roll an intelligence check. Definitely wouldn't that be on curve? Because I could understand... I already succeeded. Oh, good point. I'm not rolling. Yeah. Oh. 18, 17. Yeah, this is what it said. It's not bad. In Draconian... I think he said, "I see you are a servant too." Well done, brother. I will find you later. What does that mean? Oh, it's the dominoes. What do you think that means? I wasn't here. Okay. First of all, I looked like the boss. Did he not see that happen? Uh... Uh... So... So he's coming back. Yeah. We should set up an ambush. Yeah. Where? The teleports. I mean, it walks through stone. We're not safe anywhere here. I don't know why you bring them into another room. Because it's fucking collapsing, Mr. set off a bomb and a mineshaft. It's safer there. Just because they can walk through walls doesn't mean it's less safe than the room that's collapsed. All right. Let's start. Okay. So, as we are finishing up here, the shadowy figure that you got to speak with a little bit, has also vanished when the pillar finally collapsed, having done its cleansing work. Do we know the timing? Him disappearing it with the pillar? Yeah. Well, when the pillar, it's like a thunderclap. It makes you pretty spectacular. Yeah. And as before it started raining, but you were kind of caught up by that and after it was gone, you didn't see the person to be worried about later. Okay. The only one left from the original group is the ranger where Gaelic is out with the ranger. Right. The barbarians who are finishing up and are chasing the orcs as left of them, and it begins to dawn a new day over them to the mountains. Are we going to end it here? Yeah. Or can I have one last confrontation with this ranger chick when she gets back? We can end it here. Okay. Let it go, man. Dude, let it go. I asked them what was dangerous in there and they said no. And now everyone's dead. A dead-ass dragon skull doesn't sound dangerous to non-religious. I'd hang that shit on my wall and apparently it would be really dumb. Speaking of which, I'm going to hang that burn skull on my wall. At the end. So I go get that. I might be right back. Yeah. I'm going to talk about any final questions or whatever I'm going to. I really should, I should have, I don't know what I was doing. Probably just going around. But I have a total calculation and bonus for experience that should probably knock you guys up a fair bit. Everybody should have 6,550 experience points now. No. No. That's a lot. Are you sure I missed today? Oh, fuck. I'm just taking you up to the next level. All levels that? Level 5. 6,550. If we play this again, can I switch up my level 7 like a level 3 wizard and a level 2 rogue instead? Because I want more spells. I think if we play this again, I want to switch my character up to make more sense. I think if we play this again, I want to roll 2 dice 10 instead of 1 dice 20. Alright. That's not alright. I'm going to roll. What about 3 dice 6? I am playing again. But 3 dice 6, a coin and a fake dice. Alright, so we don't have any closing questions. A coin and a fake dice. No questions about the story. Or anything like any final things as we leave this chapter of the story. I know Barrow said that he wants to trophy from the wiver. Yeah. I kind of got a question because I missed the day when we opened the vault. I did too. I wasn't there when you guys voted the thing. I didn't understand what was going on with the humans and the fact that they're untrustworthy and if they have something. They weren't untrustworthy. They're not super untrustworthy. They're not super untrustworthy. They're just humans and not dwarves. It's common racism. There's no way we're negotiating with them. Yeah. I was there for that but I just didn't understand. So we knew that they had a chest and they were going to use this to give the dwarves. And obviously somebody wanted something in it. As it turns out. If I understand correctly. Inside the chest was the skull of, I presume, igneous, corgeness rather. The dragon that they killed. Oh. So they wanted to give it to the dwarves king. Or we don't have a king. We have like a secretary general or something. To the dwarves leadership as a gift saying, okay. If we do great, aren't you guys happy? And those guys, the servants of corgeness, given that they're a bunch of dirty dragonborn, came and stole the skull. And that's all we got so far. Or reclaimed skull. Or reclaimed skull. No, it's not. Okay. Nothing better. Yeah, there's no other questions. You give me little hooks. I've given you some other little things to... Nope. There you go audience. There's your, there's your update. But it's a good one. Yeah, I have enough to pick up where we left off. But ultimately you have mostly recipe of the farm. I mean it's half burned down. It's structurally unsound because of all this one rub is. And then... Yeah, for most of that we didn't actually do. No, that's true. That's the bomb. The bombing in the Citadel. That is absolutely... Blowing your gateway up and most of it. Oh, that thing was already blown wide open. We just did it again. Fair enough. Very careful. And then knocked it down. Very carefully knocked it down. It was controlled that nation. There's no analogies there. That's just the truth. Shh. Thanks. Thank you for listening tonight to the Night Actual Play podcast. Actually, I thought the cyan was the oldest and the one that was going to step up into control. I think it's like the most recent or latest in the Bloodline. That was a cheap-ass Korean car. And you can move and attack if you wish. Alright. You still moving with purpose, or on the inside? Hold on a second. Yeah. Good. Mr. Kinkle puts over there. Taking meds, man. Would you bring him up for everyone? Yeah. That's a good one. That's a good one. That's a good one. That's a good question. That's a good question. I want something that's going to make him see double. That's a good one. That's a good one. That's a good one. You're supposed to be able to go around. That's a good one. That's a good one. It's weird. That's the attack. We could have used that earlier. They're pointing. I don't know how. I don't know how. I don't know how. You're supposed to go to tech. You know, putting it into the sheath. Nice. Uh, well. I feel like that should be my sneak attack. Stronger corner. Wow. Self variant. You can pour this thing here and now try to finish him off. It's not because I rolled a nine. You rolled a nine. That's the best. That's the best. Oh, great. That's a deal, that's great. Well, on a standard issue, battle act. Okay. Thank you for saving it for healers. Now he tells the ladies no. They don't have to explain to ladies. There is a help option in combat. You can throw your turn to feign and give the next person a advantage on the attack. That's a fantastic thing for me. Not actually, but. So if someone has a particularly useful weapon and you don't, you can give them advantage by giving a return. There is, yeah, I was looking for like a flanking and there doesn't seem to be any. Okay. And it's mildly interesting that they considered playing on a grid a variant. Yeah. Well, that just means we're playing those rules. Mm-hmm. Dragonborn. In it? In it. And she has, oh, well. She has boobs. No, I was thinking about this. I was thinking about this. I don't know what sex it is but for whatever. Oh, she's wearing a skirt. There. How about that? This is for this skirt. It's a battle skirt. She has a bubble or a shell that I care. What you also see is, I guess she's kind of, you know, you know, the. The. Who's the. Regime. Yeah, Reginald. That was it. Thank you. For Regime. You get inspiration for reminding me that. Nashing of teeth. No. Nashing of teeth. But just. You can tell me it's a 20. I couldn't tell you. That's what it likes. You touch the gurgle roll. Touch the butt. Touch the butt. Instantly mesmerized by this. Pillar. It's a zombie bug zapper. And. I guess so. So. Yeah, I guess it's an undead bug zapper. I'm so derivative. Okay. Yeah. So they are all, they all kind of are focused on that. And their attention is no longer on Dane. It is on. This pillar. Their attention, meaning they turn that way. They move that way. They're now looking and moving in that, that direction towards that thing. All other things forgotten. We're going to do a spell. Do we know if they're bad or good? Is the person that is putting the white up or the person that put the dark up? Or don't you care? Oh, it's fair and. Eleven or? If you're wearing a dark cloak and doing things like this, then you deserve to be killing the battlefield. I'm not going to argue it. I'm just saying. I do things like that. Yes, we know. You ever see a movie right at Ralph? Yes. They got the bug things and the way they kill the bug things. Should they beam up on all the bugs going? The spoiler struck around. You're going to say that before it starts. Can I have a turn? No. I mean, they seem to be very delicate. There's got to be a Tesla coil. Because Tesla's cool. Why would it not be a Tesla coil? Because Tesla coils shoot electricity fucking everywhere. You can just store it in a battery. But it shoots it. And a battery doesn't. Tesla's normal name is very... Suppointed only by Einstein ish. Let's say she's all coped up. Yeah, she's all coped up. That's a whole different thing. It's cotilla new. Another famous no. Yeah, that's why I have an invisible hand. I have an invisible hand. Her looks devious. Never trust a gimp arm. That's a sad noise. Oh, that was it. When Nick was trying to describe... He wasn't really supposed to be getting corruption for choosing to play both sides. Yeah. I'm willing to let them die. But only if it looks like it's going to go that way. - Yeah, that's corruption.
