[Music] Hello, and welcome the Knights of the Night Actual Play Podcast. This world of darkness story, The Sin Eater, was written and run by your storyteller Scott. And now, please enjoy episode 228, titled "Kill That Kid Good Boss." Actual play begins 19 minutes, 38 seconds. All right, it's been a few weeks since we've actually played and got killed for feedback, so we have a bit of it. I'm trying to get through it quickly here. On Facebook, episode 224, which was called invoking my birthday, O&M posted instead, still plopping through the backlog, only 217 episodes to go, don't want to cut up. So thanks for releasing more, making the task even more daunting. I think that's a minority view, most of our listeners are waiting. Episode 225 on the Facebook, which was titled "Think Talkie Thoughts." Sure, that was Thomas, it sounds like the end of the subject, I was going to say that's a horrible joke for now, I can't. Because it was you. Chuck S posted and said, "Can't wait for this one. Clay versus Silver Bell." It was. And it was, Clay versus Silver Bell. It started off so pedestrian and kind and nice and calm, and then it gradually grew more tense. I thought it's, my memory serves me correctly. All listeners, I edited out most of the size. So the number that were left in there by Mr. Mike were... Mr. Dr. Collette. Yeah, you edited profusely. From my recollection. REJ posted it and said, "And with that, guess what my podcaster is doing right now? Yes, I'll be driving to work in a few, ready to be entertained darkly." Later he posted it again and said, "Michael Clay versus Grace, pure gold." It's such a no-win situation. What's that? Getting into an argument with a woman. And there goes all that women like. No, it's all zero of them. We can have more than... No, we don't. Five, three, four, five... I don't know what to say. They say there wasn't an argument. Luke G also posted under 225 and said, "Clay and Grace are talking while her minutes rewind keeps pushing back." Later he posted it again. "I'm waiting for them to try to do a rewind." And Scott said, "You've waited too long." That'd never happen. Never happened. Actually somebody wasn't doing it. Where Grace said she was going to rewind time and try to go back for when everybody was still in the room when we got teleported away. You guys discussed it, but she never attempted it. Like I was shouting it before I disappeared. I thought she'd hear it. "Rae, why don't you hear it?" "She didn't hear shit." "How'd she do that?" "She was fast." I don't know. Does she have a fixed time frame that she went? Yeah, we don't know anything about her power work. I know. But I think that's why it didn't happen because we asked and then... There was a reason. But you don't get to know it. Jim Kalya. Be kind, please rewind. It doesn't work that way. Okay, how does it work? Don't talk to me. You're just all bold because she's not here today. It's the only time I can talk. Yeah, that's staying in. Chris. Chris and posted under episode 225 as well and said, "Sweet Jesus with four exclamation points." Wow. That's insanity. What an episode, two marks, commission points. I couldn't wait for the episode after I listened to 224's Cliff Hanger. That was when we all... This is very good, right? Yeah, you held the thing. And you never want to realize that you're like two people left. Where two people who couldn't stay at each other. Kudos to Mike and Rachel for playing their characters out. I was smiling and laughing during some of their interplay. I have to admit that I quite liked Rice and all that she's brought to the story. Keep it up. Now, see, she isn't here today. Yeah, it's all right. We'll tell her all about it. It's okay. Jason S posted as well and said, "Aha, I don't want to give anything away, but I think I figured out one of the long-term mysteries. I can't wait to see if I'm right." And no idea what he's referring to. That's suitably big. Good on you, Jason. Right. I can't even give him on. Yeah, yes or no. Or even just like a little animist. Still on Facebook, episode 226. But I do mind. It was Michael who said it when Scott said, "If you don't mind, please take me to Dyson." But I do mind. This was one well-gimmed episode. Smoothly flowing between two parties in different time zones. And Rachel owned the character intros once again. That was when she said, "It sounds about liked by no one." She's all angsty, even in her introduction. Right. Oh, and Em posted and said, "Still catching up on the backlog, about 50 episodes now. That's the same guy." He went from 217 to 50. Yes, he's going. You're right. And he's not suicidal. Go? Oh, yeah, really. Wow. He will be. So I'm not really up to speed on the current campaign, but I thought I'd ask if any of you have gotten a chance to look at the new Dresden Fals RPG supplement, The Parenthood Papers. First one they've released since the original, "Our World and Your Story." I bought a copy and it's not bad at all. Well, actually I bought a copy as well. But I bought the hard copy. Not the PDF. And the PDF is released right now. The hard copy is coming out in a few months. So now, wow. Is he ordered the hard copy? They should give you a flip at the PDF. Well, I was saying it on the drive over here. And you know, if you've been truthful, they may have. They might have sent me an email. I haven't looked at it. And I told them, "Well, maybe they did." I don't know. Yeah, right. So I don't want to criticize them. Seems like something to do. That's a long, if I may say, that's a long interim between the introduction of your main core books in any kind of supplement at all, for a rep we think would be absolutely popular. He has very, very careful about the beta there stuff and test it and review right at it. I forgot what I heard. The pair of papers redo the magic system. Oh, that's pretty huge. Yeah. And it's something I'm looking forward to. Because I didn't actually love the magic system in the dressing panel. Right. So hopefully it has been improved. And I think everyone would say that they were a bit esoteric. Yeah. And Byzantine maybe is the term I was looking for as far as the rules went. I thought it was. We just released the episode we did while you were on spring break. And everybody was missing everywhere. That was one of the subjects we talked about where Mike was saying he still is doing a warning. He has no idea how to do magic. Right. Even the experts which would be Thomas and John and like look up. Yeah, they have to look up. Episode 227 back to Facebook. We had round table night. This was Mike, Michael, myself, John, Thomas and Mark was also along for the writing we discussed. Guest starting? Yeah, guest starting Mark. You know, some RPG in general and all kind of fun stuff. But Ari posted on that said right on time for taking junior to school. KOTN timing is uncanny. You later posted 30 minutes in and this is an awesome episode and an excellent palate cleanser. Well, kind of. And kind of not. Later on he posted and said really nice episode touched on many things I've been looking into lately as for gumshoe and horror. There is a fear itself. Having been content planning that for my cult game. The original cult rules were D20 as the dice are simply bad. Right, for D20. Because it's one out of 20. I agree. And so is everyone. Say what I think. Yeah, I don't think any of us love D20 as a system. But Mike, what? No, you don't. I feel. No, no, he hasn't. Because it's the flat. Is there's no bell curve? No, he was the bell curve advocate. In the previous conversation. I think the easiest solution. That is to Tetons. And you adjust from there. But yeah. Sean W also posted on episode 227 and said I absolutely agree with you guys. View on playing evil characters in quotes. We had a discussion about that campaign where you wanted to run an adult version of an evil, all evil character. Right. The struggle I had with. Yeah. I don't think I'd want to do that anymore to be honest. That was a bad moment. It's gone. The usual way I've seen them played is rather cartoonish. Which for those of us who have more mature taste can be quite uninteresting or painful to endure. And it's part of the reason I prefer for D&D to remove all the mechanics enforcing the alignment system. So you could easily leave it out. Having mechanically reinforced morality tends to make things too black and white and stifles deeper character concepts instead of role playing. Even justifying a label can lack someone into a narrow interpretation of the character. Especially before you've gotten to know that character. Besides that, I want to defend World of Darkness some as a system. We kind of went off. Oh, okay. Sure. You might want to listen to that episode. Scott seems to have a very particular way of running a game. Okay, so it's your fault. Yeah, World of Darkness rocks. I suck. I actually mentioned he did a great job on World of Darkness. Yes, he did. Bite the fucking world. Anyways, back to Scott seems to have a very particular way of running a game. Layers, all sorts of difficulties against the players. Which is not really core to World of Darkness, but it is fun to listen to. It's not fun to play. Well, we won't get into that, Scott. World of Darkness doesn't really even have to be horror. But some sort of mystery with maybe some low crafting theme is what I often default to. I've run games where everyone was a mage. Contracted to watch over some backwater town where it turned out something bigger was going on. I snuck in a silent hill rip off, which I found very fun. And I played in a game that was basically an episode of The X Files and even ran my own fairly mundane detective campaign, which I tossed in a single supernatural creature. There's nothing more than an unlucky red herring while the real killer was just a regular crazy but smart human. Have you guys tried the other line, such as Where a Wolf or Mage? I think those are two of my favorite with Vampire not just catching my interest and Hunter being a hard book for me to track down. All I have to say is that I've not tried fate yet and I'm currently between gaming groups with whom to try it out. But for what I know that the system is more about the player being in control, which depending on your group might be a good thing or a bad. Certainly it makes for a very different feel than the world of darkness. Yeah, well, my god, yes. If you listen to our podcast, you can tell how different the feel is. Between Dresden and World Darkness. There's a lot of points there and eventually I'd like to get the alignment that he started with, issues about alignment. I agree with much of that, but I think when we start playing D&D, maybe we'll be good. Is that common knowledge now? Yeah, it definitely was talked about in the episode that was just released to 27 at the ground table. Yeah, you kind of left it like that was one of the current leaders of the pool. Right, it is now. We're doing D&D is next. But yeah, I think that's because D&D is almost... I agree that it can tie you down, just knowing that someone's like a chaotic evil. You know, the group, the people that know that your chaotic evil may feel a certain way, but you don't. We talked about it kind of during the discussion that it's not all black and white. Every decision you make all day long, it's got to be chaotic evil, just be a regular guy, you know. And you could set up, I would think a character arc for your character to say, I'm starting this character as chaotic evil because that's just how he grew up or that was his basis. Well, I wouldn't even super his character and then say I'd like to eventually work to waffle evil or true neutral or whatever the case might be and just work it into your character arc where some of your decisions are beginning are chaotic evil and some of them are a little more under... You know, you just kind of... No character that's static, at least for our group, a character who's static continually and just makes chaotic evil decisions every single time. That's a little bit boring for our taste. We like a character to evolve. The con game that we played, there was a guy playing a D for him, but I think it was Sunday morning. You were playing more chaotic, stupid. Yeah, it was definitely chaotic, moronic and I mean... He just kind of smacked him down and killed him. Yeah, he took the alignment thing literally and you know, you don't do that stuff against... I think it with forms is very weird, but you don't need to... It's not... Like, I don't think I would make anyone have to announce their alignment. I mean, with the exception of maybe priests and paladins who you kind of... It's such an evil god or slave, right? Well, you're kind of already a religious person, but that doesn't mean that like, you don't eat your pancakes in the morning, evenly, you don't, you know, you don't... I read this one series... I think it was called "Night of the Paladin" or "The Paladins of Night". Anyway... You read a series about paladins? No, study. No, no, I read one, I read one, but the paladins had this group that were all awful evil, but within their own family group, within their own circle of people that they trusted and loved, it was an incredibly warm, loving family. But if you weren't in that family, you were... It didn't matter what happened to you. So they got it, Father. Right. A little bit, a little bit, so it was really kind of a new way to... Of interpretation of the London. Another way to think of it, I thought, as we're discussing it, is if you compare it to fate, it's one of your aspects. It's not the entirety of your aspects. It's not all six of them or four of them or seven or whatever you're playing with. It's one aspect of your character's personality, your alignment. If you look at it from a fate point of view, and you can certainly have other nuances to your character that flush it out and make them real. Back to the feedback, Paul B, who was our t-shirt winner, also posted a picture. Right. Yes, he did. And he said, "Thanks for the extended plug." We mentioned him and a couple other podcasts. Michael was saying what's your favorite podcast? So we went through a series of them. That his was mentioned. Sword not radio, which he says, sword not is a name as a name is an analog for gun nut. So like sort of nut he's a nut of, because we weren't joking that getting hit in the nuts with a sword. Well, we thought of a sword nut radio or we weren't sure of the exact spelling. Yeah, yeah, some of us. But yes, I've seen folks get hit in that zone with a degree of precision. Then I always tell my male students, don't forget your drawing protection. So Paul posted a picture of him with a couple of different sorts because he's actually a character of different. Right. Even in medieval times, they had cup checks. Yes, they did. Right. Good to know. Didn't he say something like you don't forget that twice? No, I might have been... No, but that's a true statement. I saw that somewhere. All right, really quick to look over on the fan page. Well, I mentioned on the fan page, I mentioned it on our main page. RPG Gamer Dad had his episode. Oh, yes. '22, which he interviewed Scott and I, and it was like half his episode. And I was cool. Yeah, listen to it. The fan seems to enjoy. Also, there was a question on whether any of us was going to origins, which apparently is about two weeks away. I may. You still try to... Yeah, if I can... I don't know if I'd drive down there with just Damien and I, but if we can get a little group together, I might be able to pull it off. What weekend is that? I don't know. And that's really what it depends because... It's like June... Of course, anybody that knows me and his friends will be on Facebook saw plenty of pictures of my daughter's graduation. All right. Her and her boyfriend came into town and he's only in town for a couple of weeks. So, if it's during the time of year... If it's near... Yeah, right. It would really work out both of you. June 3rd through 7th. That's next weekend. Yeah, I think so, right? Next Saturday and Sunday is the 30th and 31st. Good point. So, it's the following weekend, which my wife is off, which means she can be hang out with the girls that we can potentially and I might be able to slip out for origin. So, it's a good customer. Yeah, we'll talk about it. Over on Twitter, madmulener said, "No regular episode this week?" Wouldn't that be mad m? No, not for us. It's a hyphenated singular name. Okay, got it. He posted and said, "No regular episode this week." Hopefully, it just didn't disappear like your first episode, which I explained. Right. Had not. And that it was just a lack of material. It just isn't. We've had a rough go of getting our group together lately. And that's about it. We will mention we haven't had an iTunes review for a while, folks, so... But thanks to Patreon and the Amazon link in our influx of cash. I have been working on editing into large scenario-long releases, so... That's very cool. For those of you who have mentioned in the passage, you would like to listen to "All of Shitlock" as one file, or maybe two that'll be in the future. Did we decide on all of that? I mean, for that. Nice. Yeah, but like an episode anthology? Kind of like that. Well, I'm sorry, I just couldn't just do that. Pardon? Trapbox. And potentially, we could put it in a Dropbox, and then we can post the links on our site and make it download that way. That would work, right? We could get a special account dropbox that is only those files. Great. Next time we play, we should be giving away another t-shirt. And we did have one additional bit of feedback from our feedback@kyotampodcast.com email. This was from Greg H, who said, "Hey, Knights, just caught off with the last few episodes and caught the interview with RPG Gamer Dad. Good stuff, as always. The Cineeder storyline looks to be going along the lines of a horror genre as described by Scott and the feedback some time ago, and reiterated in the interview. I'm enjoying how the characters are reacting and dealing with the events that are happening to them, as well as knowing that the characters are growing and changing. Knights, your role-playing is definitely the primary reason I continue to listen to your podcast. There are some things in the discussion and interview episode that I'd like to comment on. I'm running a darker dress than foul games. I love the world of darkness, but my players would rather not get into another system. And we'd like to have a dark theme in our game. Can we push it to a horror level? Doubtfully, for the reasons that Tom and Scott expressed. The players have too much creative control in the game, which is awesome and I wouldn't want to change it even if I could. But it doesn't lend itself to horror. Pernet Paper is a great resource, Tom. I highly recommend it. I've had some very harsh things to say about new Monera. Tom essentially covered most of those opinions since I probably did. That one had much more, in fact. So I'll just sit over here and smile fondly at my fate dice. Cheers, Greg H. He also had a PS, which I'm not going to read on. Mike, I'm going to hand it actually to Mike, because it's referring to the fate system and how to do spells. He does a list of one, two, three, four, five. The question I do have for you, Greg, is this the new version from the Pernet Paper, or is it the old one? And I'll have my experts look at it and that would be my son Jonathan and Thomas. But with that, we will wrap up the feedback and get on to the episode. Unfortunately, this week we have no gym, we have no Rachel, but we're going to forge on. This is the World of Darkness story, the cinneter. I'm your storyteller, Scott. And with me tonight, on my right is... Michael playing Ethan Clark, a medical doctor. A member of Aegis Cideru since 1929. Tom playing Jay Alton, a member of the ascending ones and leader of Task Force Siren. Mike playing Michael Clay, the academic adventurer from the Aegis Cideru. Bob playing FBI Special Agent Chew Park, a member of the Vasci conspiracy. Thomas playing Edgar Montes. If you're doing practitioner, a member of the latest player, Mr. Ferris. John playing Daniel Morgan, the amount of men turned mercenary, and next member of Task Force Falcon. What we left off last session was the members of Task Force Siren who were ethereal, ghosts like were in the castle and were making the attempt to get to the gate before the three young ghosts. We saw the children who met an ill fate in this home, were able to stop them. That was in what you believe to be modern day Ohio City, or at least close to it. And then there is Silver Bell and Dr. Clay, who are in still in 1935. And they too have met the three ghost children in the attic of the castle. But Dr. Clay and Silver Bell are substantial. Yes, they are of substance. The ghosts, of course, of the children still are not. And they are playing, I believe, right around the rosy, when... Yeah, Grace is in front of me. Grace is in front of me because she has the ability to see. I wasn't, to me, it's mostly darkness and movement. I don't really see as well as she does. Correct. We should start with, what we always start with, which is quickly, can we go through our aspirations? Were they completed? Shit snacks, I haven't. Yeah, in like a month, certainly you'd be able to spend your experience pointing, so you use them in any way. I don't know how you could change your aspirations in a heated battle. True, but things happen before the battle started. You could. That could have... I want to kill him. No, I want to kill him. Alright, I want to kill him now. Exactly. See, it's easy. You could get shot in the middle of a battle, and suddenly your aspirations don't die, don't die, don't die, don't die. Okay. Yeah, mine haven't changed a bit, and they're pretty much irrelevant. I'll save children from shattered man with the long term, and complete my research, which never happened. Close. And facilitate the group's return to the hotel in '35, which may or may not be happening shortly. Great. And then when you have Jay? Mine is Reunite Squad, which... Right. I guess you could argue happens, sort of, just in different times. We're in the same house. Return to solid form, that hasn't happened yet, and the long term of have a plan of attack. Okay, just pesky fortune. Practically? Yeah. They really haven't changed. Okay. Alright, here we are. Yep. Mr. Chew? They haven't not changed. Head guard? Escape this new bullshit. You can arrest before the next excursion. Banish the shattered man, etc. Right. All good. And then Daniel, I think it changed for you as well. I want to add that to the t-shirt. Right, it is new bullshit. Escape this new bullshit. That's like a small life goal. A long term aspiration. Exactly, that's not until the series is over. So you have to write, this is the whole bullshit. I can recycle it. Alright, I had one that said get the fuck out. Now it's going to be... Ooh, good one. Hell, right through the chair. Others get away. Because I've got the gun that seems to be able to do the job. Yeah. Cover the squad's retreat. Come here. Yeah. So I should have said throw a little difference. Cute really well. Perfect. You're going to get it all good. Okay, I lost the initiative. She died. College, guys. Good one. We're up when they should again. Oh, no. I think we won. Pretty sure we didn't have any. Okay, well you have it now. Sorry. Hit the blue one. Chew, you too. Mr. Can we roll one dice? You roll one dice and you add your initiative. You can only roll one dice and you add it to this one. One, come on. Twelve. Is that your new way of rolling? You have to bounce off the ceiling, hit your keyboard and then... Two, four, I roll high. Yeah. All right, anyone else have a little one? Six. Have an initiative? Yeah, an initiative. Die ten plus your initiative on fire. Okay. That's the other one. Ethan. Thirteen for you, Ethan? I mean, Edgar. Okay. Okay. Ethan? No, well that's all. Yeah. So it's ten. All right, roll the one, I got it. Yes, I roll the one. You are one quick, not perfect. It's very impressive. Seventeen. Seventeen for the squad leader. And we have... Six. Six for... They have... Our friend Daniel. And Michael Clay is not there. And there it is. Katie. More is... So... Well, so very well. Okay, Jay. When we last left, you were backing towards the house. I'm not mistaken. You would put a bullet through the young boy. Yes, I did. And Theodore. Who, it seemed to stagger him and shock him, but it didn't stop him. And then his face turned from a little boy, elongated out and became larger and almost caricature-like. And the fact that his head is now much larger than his body. And you can see the darkness in his eyes just pulsating with anger. He opens his mouth and kind of lets out a screen and it's your turn. I wish to imbue my gun with my religious belief, shoot him one more time and run like hell. Okay. I'm not sure how that works, but that's what I want to do. No, I'm not, but it is my virtue, his faith. And some of it's in myself, but he's also a religious man, so... You're just pissing about it. You're gonna have faith and then retreat. So it doesn't work. Yes, it does work. No, no, no, no, no, no. His deeds don't fail me now. What? I have the faith that the power of Allah is much more impressive than... Do you think you're going to be good? I have a backup card. Which is run, right? Allah, do you do the better sense to run? That's right, you shot a ghost. In truth, what I want to do is I want to antagonize him to come after me because I am also selfless, and I want to protect my spot. So you have faith? It's one of your virtues, correct? Correct. You have two of them, mistaken? Yes, I do. I have faith and selflessness. Do you have any other religious-based skills or merits that I should know about? Well, I have the status of three and the ascending ones, and the ascending one's belief is that their belief in God, and the holiness of their belief allows them to overcome the poison that they ingest, become magic. I agree. But other than that, I don't really have anything that would apply to that. Okay, otherwise. So go ahead and get your dice pull for your attack. All right, shooting-wise, it would be five for firearms, one extra for the pistol, five for my dexterity, minus two for my eye. What I'd like you to do first is to, since we don't have another indicator of your faith, what I'm going to use in this instance is the dots of merit you have in the ascending ones, so three dots for that, and then your resolve. I was going to suggest results, I guess. What's your resolve? My resolve is three. So that's a total of six dice. So it's additional six? Or six? No, no, it's not an additional six. I want you to roll those six dice as a separate roll, please. Straight up, no minuses, no pluses. Straight up. Only one success, it is 10, so I will roll again, and that is not a success. So one out of six. All right, now your die pool, if I'm not mistaken, was nine dice. It is some track nine, yes. He's not far from you. There's no reason why you cannot fire at hand. He's in the same state of-- Capordialness. Yes. He's, yeah. They call that particular state twilight in the game system, so go ahead and roll your nine dice. I'm thinking of subtracting a die just because you're nine corporeal, and there's a ghost that lives in this state, and I think that would be a little unsettling, realizing that he just got incredibly angry and is coming towards you, and it might be a little disconcerting, even to a combat guy, because you're not in your normal combat sense. Yeah. Because of the situation. So just subtract a die for that, and go ahead and roll. Eight dice. Sure. Two successes, an eighth and a nine. And that would equate to what type of-- Well, the Glock has two damage, so Vittolo four damage, if it operates as a normal gun. Right. And can you describe what you did in this particular instance for me? Well, I already had my gun out. Yes. You'd fired once and it not had success. It just seemed to rip through him, so I took a moment to concentrate and focused on a la, and invited him in to help that were more powerful in this thing, even if it is more natural in this state. We have right behind us, and trueness. And I tried to focus that through my shot. Okay. So it was all internalized? Mostly. Yes. Okay. So what else would I study the nerve just a bit? Right. Sure. Two shots. Rips through him again as it did the first time. However, this time, almost as if it's a old TV set back from the 70s or 80s, and the reception is a bit snowy, he seems to flicker into almost like out of the state of existence. Like almost to disappear like his form flickers. His face changes from his enraged state back to his little boy state. With a look of shock and surprise, as he pulled over where that particular hole went in, let's say maybe his lower abdomen. He puts his two hands over it like it actually hurt. He's still there, but he definitely faded for a second, and was staggered by the little bit of shock surge flicker. Cross like what the hell? Exactly. The two sisters, they hear him cry out because he certainly makes a shocked noise as well. And Hannah and Ruthie kind of cringe, or kind of like they lost some of their righteous anger and their feeling of invulnerability. It seems based on the way they're cringing. And reacting. So I look back at the house to see where everyone is, I'm not going to run past someone, I'm going to be the last one. The only person that was outside with you at that point was Edgar, who was between you and the house, and was stepping, he was going towards the entryway, the mudroom of the not mistaken, correct Edgar? So I run up to him and go, go, go, go, go, and I'm like kind of shoving at him to go. Great. That's Jase Turin. That takes us to oddly enough Edgar at 13. Wow, I'm going to go and move. Okay, go. So you run into the mudroom. And you see in the mudroom Dr. Ethan Clark, you see his follow through from his toss of the difference cube, which in your knowledge of the supernatural and what goes on. This house, although it's glowing and kind of insubstantial to everyone else, it's solid to you because you're in the same state as it. So the difference cube really should not have gone through the walls. If it was in the same state, but as Dr. Ethan had taken out, it wasn't in the same state. It had like a different more substantial look to it. So you see his follow through, maybe you briefly look up and see it tumbling upwards through the ghostly air, and then you see two kind of fumble it, and then at the last second, reach out and grab it on the third floor where he is located. Basically, what I'm saying is you kind of have to work your way past Dr. Ethan, which you do, and then you work your way into the kitchen area as you double move. And then I'm going to assume that you can just move straight on to the stairway, which leads up to the second floor. Is that where you were looking to go? We're looking to move up towards the gate that everyone keeps talking about? Yeah, fairly outside. Scape, bro. Okay, which then takes us to Chiu at initiative 12. Chiu, you're on the third floor. You had just, I think, finished coming up the third floor steps and onto the main floor. You had heard the shout from Dr. Ethan Clark. He had thrown you his difference cube, which you definitely have some knowledge of. In the sense that he's talked about it and shown it at different times during this story so far, it's been so long, you might not remember. You don't know exactly what it does. Right. But you certainly overheard him talking that he believed it could hold the key to the gateway. So you at least have a general idea of what he is throwing to you for. You have no idea how to use it, of course. Right, yeah. By any stretch of imagination. So you are on the third floor landing. You had hoped that Sister Katie was right behind you. She's not. You would hope that Daniel was behind you. He's not. You are now completely alone on the third floor. You know that there is a floor above you because you can see through these somewhat insubstantial walls. I'm also wearing the goggles. In which case, you can actually see the outline of, almost directly above you, what looks to be a gate. It looks like it's made of glowing semi-translucent stone. And it looks to be between two cramped in-type bedrooms on the highest floor in the attic. So you have those slanted ceilings because of the, you know, the giddy bowls and the type of design, the architectural design of the house. The attic area is very unique with very strange ceilings and very cramped in and oddly shaped rooms. And you can also see that there is a exit sign. No, not an exit sign, but a trap door, if you will. In which there is a, like a rope hanging down, looks like a little pulley that you can pull down and then the stairway comes down. And there's that there as well. Okay. And that's further down the hall. So right above you is the gate, and further down the hall seems to be a way to get into the attic if you wanted to approach that. So I can pull on that string and supposedly lefty. It's a roll, right. And you would think that it would burn down the, you know. Do I see anything else like any entities at all? And, you know, oddly enough, no, you are able to look back to where you came and you see the three children who are floating maybe five, six feet in the air, midway through the first level. You see them, you see activity, you heard a report of a gun going off twice so far. And you could definitely see that they're still down there. So it looks like you might have a clean path to at least get to the, the trap door. Trap door. It's a square ceiling with a rope that you pull down. A door that's trapped? No. But potentially. Just do it. What do they call doors? I know those are tracks. You pull down funds. You roll for, you roll for what? I look for traps. Okay. You have that skip? I guess I proceed down the hallway. Right. I mean, you could be kind of looking, kind of looking behind me to see if anyone else is coming, kind of wondering where everyone went to. Right. Well, the house has a somewhat, essentially the guy goes on somewhat, translucent nature to it. You can see that the annual has a rifle out, and he's pointing out towards the children on the second floor down. And you see that Sister Katie, and what remains of her is slowly moving up the stairway. She's definitely starting to dissolve. She's gone. Right. Okay, I'm going to make my way down the hallway, and I guess I'll put on the rope. Okay. You move your way down the hallway. You are able to grab hold of the rope, because again, it's the same state of being an EUR. What I mean by that is if Michael Clay, Dr. Clay were here, he would see a house. He wouldn't see this, you know, the same house that you would, and he certainly wouldn't be seeing this transpose rope. You might be seeing a real rope, or, you know, so there's just a difference between the two. You pull down, and sure enough, that it opens up a square trap door, which opens down towards you, and then there is a ladder that's kind of almost nested within itself, like two or three parts of it. So you grab onto a run, pull down, find the right one, and pull down, and sure enough, a ladder comes down to you. And that is pretty much the extent of your turn with, well, you might be able to take a couple steps up, but you're not able to get to the attic this time. Is this a difference cube doing anything? It's pulsating. There's a vibrating, but it's not just vibrating, like an alarm clock, whatever, phone. It's also almost jiggling. Like, there's not just a vibration, but it's almost like a movement to it as well, almost as if it's, almost like it's alive in a sense. It seems like it's vibrating and pulsating more than I'm getting closer to. 'Cause you didn't notice until you took the first step by the rung, and then it seems to even vibrate more firmly in your hand. It's not happy to be holding this too. No, I'm sure you're not. Does it have gauges on it? It's rubic cube-esque in the sense that there is three sections to it that can be turned. There's obviously six sides. You see on each of the three facings on the one side, there's like three facings, or I'm sorry, three symbols on each of the six sides. Each one looks absolutely ancient to you. Beyond old. It looks like something that's not even from the history of any occult you've researched from this world. And then there certainly is, there's something that looks like it could be gears. There's something that looks like it could be some kind of gauge of some sort. You don't know what the numbers are not written in Roman numerals, or in Arabic numbers that we are familiar with. It's definitely some, again, some different fucking metric. That's where you're at, too. You've got this very odd looking thing thrumming in your hand. You make your way up towards the act. And that takes us to Ethan, who is Act 10, who has just completed his toss. I continue to run in the direction I wish to run in, which is up towards the tractorish place. And that takes us to, I believe, Daniel, who is pointing his rifle that is whispering in his ear. I think I'm actually saying the child landing. What's that? Yes, the rifle would like you to use it to shoot the children, because they need to be shot. They're ghosts and they will harm the rest of your friends. And if you and I together can do this. So I take aim at one of them that hasn't shot yet. That would be one of the girls, the middle child, Hannah, or the youngest Ruthie. Shoot a little barrel? Which one looks scarier? Well, because they're transforming, right? They're looking. Well, the worst, well, the boy was starting to. And maybe the girls would have followed suit, but when he actually got shot and injured in some way. He looks like a little later. I'm going to try for him. Okay. That makes sense to me. So you'll me know what your dipole is? This is my running tin of sorts, anyway. My dipole doesn't have a modifier anymore, does it? That's just not from the weapon. It's just firearms, dexterity, and any. Special to my have a specialty. I get two dice. A constant third. And dexterity is two dice. And I am spending a little power, if I can do that. You can spend a little time. Okay. I don't know if I risked it. In this scene so far? I have no idea if you have. I don't think you have. No, I don't think you've done it. So here I risk. All right. That gives you a total of. I add three dice. I'm going to get nine again, I suppose. Okay. Your minus for distance is nothing, because you have a rifle and they're not that far away. Okay. Your minus for being in, what's your firearm skill? Two, with a specialty in this particular rifle? What was yours? Minus five. Yes. I mean you minus two dice for being in comporeal and trying to shoot with having one hand. That's just, I don't know. Yeah, one hand. There's lots you could set. I can have your body. Yeah. There's a lot going on there. Okay. Go ahead and fire. Yeah. One success plus the five damage from the rifle itself. The bullet penetrates the upper torso/neck region of Theodore. And you guys hear an ungodly scream and he just basically, there's a swirl of energy and he disappears. So that's not going to. You actually gain a point of willpower if you have any to gain. I do. As the rifle says next. Do I become a little more comporeal? No, you don't. The rifle definitely made you feel strong and important and gave you faith that you could continue and you did take out all these ghost children. You've got a fanfire of God. It's a proton. You have a school shooter. God specializes in shooting. It's a chilly children. You have to be in a bell tower though. He feeds into your side cocees. I heard you like artifacts. You already didn't tell them about this one. You can't feel like, hey, I've been holding this. I shot some ghost kids. I only had a slight inkling and might be important until that. Okay. There's a girl on either side of him, one of the siblings. And they hear his scream and they scream in unison and they look absolutely panicked and angry and a mixture of feelings. And they both don't seem to have seen Daniel. Oh, shit. But they see you. So they run away from you? I feel that kid. Good boss. This is my tune now. So saving children was one of the aspirations. You were yours. Did that count? Nile things off. I don't know. Saving for last, maybe. He isn't important to rest. I like you. He has been sent to meet his maker. Presumably. First is the middle child, Hannah. Hannah looks at you and she's still a little girl. But she just reaches out one hand and she's like, how could you? And she reaches one hand out towards you. And you feel this numbing cold just start to crush your soul, your whole being. You just, you feel at first it starts as if it's almost like goosebumps when someone says something that kind of strikes you in a certain way and you get goosebumps out of your neck or whatnot. But then it just keeps flowing. And it keeps flowing to the point where, again, there's just these waves of cold going through your body. And all those things you want to vomit in a way too. And you have taken two points of lethal damage. And she says something very quietly and very imperceptible, almost like she mouthed it. And Ruthie looks at you and whereas Hannah reached out with her hand towards you and said, how could you? Ruthie puts her hand towards you but she shows you the back of her hand as opposed to reaching out towards you. And then she, something happens from her. Okay, what ends up happening there is you feel yourself much like you've been watching with Daniel and with Sister Katie. You start to unravel yourself but very slowly, like you see your feet start to turn into wisps. And that takes us to the start of the next term. Which is you, Jay? If they're doing damage at this right, I am not going to make it to the top of this building. So... Now, to be fair, you did hear the shot. Yeah, no, I have combat awareness. And if there's someone else shooting, I'm going to know that. So yeah, I believe that to be true. I tell her, don't make me kill you too. We're just leaving, let us go. And I shoot her as well. Okay. Does that some intimidation though? Yeah, I'm trying to make them stop because it really hurts what they're doing. Let's go ahead and do a, that sounds like a presence plus intimidation to me. Sure. Put your diet whole together, you know what it is? Intimidation is a mental, most intimidation. Social. I'm going to spend a willpower to add three because I only have four dyes, so that takes it up to seven. I'm pretty sure I did risk on this one already, but that's fine. Okay. Go ahead and roll your diet so you're controlling them against her. Got it. Damn, I can't roll for shit. One success and a re-roll, just one. She puts her hand down and puts on her hips like a little girl, and she's going to snap back. You don't scare me. Right. And she says to you, he's not dead. And then you fight her again. Yeah. So she was not intimidated, but go ahead and do what I told you. Do you want me to do again with the belief dice roll, which I believe was kind of here? Resolve and something. I think this is, this is not being screened and you're, you're a ways away. So I would say you'd have to make a perception check in order to do that with a minus. So you can go ahead and put your diet whole together if you'd like to. Would that slow me down on it? Um, no, I don't think so. Okay. So that's going to be a severe minus because you're running. Earlier I had a re-roll. I had an earlier, I had a resolve and a sending one status of six dice roll. You want that again? Right. No, I would say that it goes a letter. It goes to seven because it's exceeded. Yeah, it works. It renews your faith and definitely, well it may not renews it, but it imbues it with more strength. Go ahead and roll your seven dice to see if there's any successes. One. Okay. Same as one. Thank you, Assistant. Okay. And then your diet pool, I think we're going to do the same in this particular instance. You're not down to your last three boxes, are you? Um, health. I have four completely empty health boxes. And you're still fine with no minuses? Right. So I'm sorry. I had 10 plus the one for 11 and minus two because of my eye. Right. And then minus one because of my usual. Right for being a ghost. And I'm very consistent with my single success. So three more damage to her. As happens with her brother, her older brother Theodore, the shot goes through in this particular case her leg, her upper thigh. And she for a second, fades from view flickers out of view and then comes back. And she's holding her leg. And she's screaming in pain. That takes us to Edgar. Steve. Edgar. Don't have to kill you. If we're doing practitioner, a member of the land of strength is fair. You didn't have to roll your R. That was weak. Fuck off. That was nice. You can sit on the podcast over the bit where I introduced myself. Just fuck off. Sorry. Good. Wayne, go ahead. Sorry. I didn't know there was any other answer. No, it is. You were going to cover. They're all ghosts. Yeah. We're all ghosts today. And a ghost sniper. No, no, no. Dr. Nancy Clay is not a ghost. I had the mentally count that up. We were dancing. Who's missing? Yeah, I'm mad at it. I took Spanish. Oh man. I took Spanish for eight fucking years. I didn't take any French. Spanish people don't roll their arse. Not well. Apparently, fuck out of line. I didn't think you might have necessarily heard of Spanish too. I was really shit at Spanish. I did take eight years of that. That was good at it, Megan. Yes, she is. She's still pregnant for those things. Don de Esta Pepe Rico. Don't service us for before. Don de Esta Labano. I think I had an action. Two beers please. Where's the bathroom? Spanish. There's only two things you need to know. How do you say she is? Don't Sombre get us. Two hamburgers please. I appreciate you. That's fucking gone. Losiento, I'm sorry. Okay. All right. You're no non-sensory of talking is a fan favorite. It's just no. I'm glad. Man, I just stole some toast. Can't deny the don'ts enough. I went when you said they were singing Ring around the rosy just as an inside. I found that really spooky. That was well done. Yeah, it was just this kid going Ring around. Really slow pace. And I actually took it and multiplied it for three different kids and took the boys a little high. Yeah, just adjust up. And actually staggered on more than hell you're finding. You made it. I staggered in just half a second. So it looked like they weren't quite in unison singing. You know, but not enough to be. True. Annoying. And I thought it came off really well. Well done. You changed the pitch? They sounded like. Yeah, so it sounded like different voices. Like two girls and one in a high, really high pitch. It's fun, isn't it? Yeah, I love it. Yeah, I know it can be so much fun. Because I don't know. Children, haunted children. Like freaked you out a little bit. So, that episode of my people. I did not like a week. Although I did see some post about a Lionel Richie song. Oh, yeah. Well, okay. Let's go on. There was no one that heard anything. But I was at a gas. I read the lyrics. I don't know what that is. There was the part where you say, "You know, Mike, we haven't heard about your knife for a long time. Could you explain what your knife can do?" And then I had Lionel Richie say, "Hello?" You are looking forward. So I see this post. I step off at the gas station to fill up some gas. And then over the radio or the speaker is this. Because they could see it and you're like, you know, like, wait a second. That's the lyrics that I just read. Because I was thinking, "What was that thing?" I'm a dead mother effort put on Lionel Richie's song. Okay, I'm now going to go find the episode on this one. I can have this one. Chilling in your domicile with... Look at all your knives. Yeah. Up on a little pedestal with a glass of wine. I love you. There's a great scene in Arthur where the other agent from... Yeah, the... Yeah. Hey, it was, I'm talking it with his gun. You didn't tell your nooks and crannies. Because I'm talking to it. Not with it. There's a difference. That was it. I looked up on the internet and I said, "Most sappiest love song ever." And it said Lionel Richie's a lot when I was like, "I could work with that." I got the, what is it called? What, the karaoke version? So it's just sappiest. That's a tough category. It is a tough category. But that's what I had to go with. I wonder what I'm in the basement with the fans and I'm just becoming like the joke. Could I see it in your house? I don't know. It sounds amazing. No one to stop. My initiative should six die plus three. That can't be right. No, that's he six. What's it said? It's a nine. That's he six. It's a different color. That's he six. That's he six, six, six. What do you want to tell him? Ooh. What's that? I'm drinking. The debt of winter came out with two promos. One of them is Felicia Day card. And the other one's a something. Well, Cody and Colby started it or something. What is a promo that gave away at conventions? What is debt of winter? We played it. That's not a game. No, we didn't. I don't think you're playing it, but we played it at Mike's house. Yeah, that's why I missed it. It sounds familiar, so I probably won. It's really like heard something. She wants it. It's only $60. It's only $50. Oh, and everyone just off the cuff. Anyone who is in watching Daredevil needs to watch Daredevil? I watched it. Yeah, I finished it quite a while ago. In fact, Barb and I watched it and she loved it as well. I'm a little episode three, but I watched the first episode. I loved it and I haven't had a chance to go back. Second episodes. I heard him talking and I said, oh, this is going to piss Tom off because he's talking like this. Like Batman does when Christian Bale is playing Batman. I don't think so. No, I mean, but it's a little bit different of a voice. Like it's a little gruff and rough, just a little bit. And I thought that would annoy Tom, but apparently. I just think it's the voice of a guy who is blind. So it sounds so important. And he is always speaking in a soft measured tone, because that's the kind of voice he wants to hear. He doesn't want the horror, the harshness, the screaming or whatever. Oh, yeah, no. Right. So I am the amazing character. It was fantastic. The casting. It's a shame they killed a mom. The casting, the performances, the sets, the production value, the fight. Oh my god, that. No, the fighting character is kind of comedic relief. And they're just great casting and great acting. But it works so well. And if you're not watching it. Yeah, body is a great character. I like the well work. And I like how they did it. It's just kind of like conventional, you know, like either with the romance or anything. And I think it really is super conventional in that in the series. They actually thought they was a one shot. Right, that's what I heard. And then they said, oh, okay. That did well. We'll do a second thing. I thought what about Daredevil had to be retold that wasn't covered already, covered or whatever. But after watching, I've only up to episode three. But I'm like, oh, you got a good writing. Let's start. Yeah, it's good. Yeah, I need to see. This is an Alfredo as Wilson Fisk. Yeah. I was literally on the edge of my seat, watching him in the dinner scene. He's a fantastic character. I mean, I'm watching it very much. So during my lunch, I'm working from home. If this isn't episode one, I don't want to hear it. No, no, no. I'm just saying, I forgot to eat. Because I'm like, I'm just watching this guy. And you know how like less is more? Yeah. I go, this guy isn't doing anything yet. It's just reading. Yeah, actually. He definitely, what he's in a scene, he. Okay, I'm starting to derail. But it just, he captures the screen attention. I thought so as well. Yes. He was, the fact, which I'm sure Mike knows, he was the Marine in Full Metal Jacket who went absolutely berserk and then, let's do it. Let's do it, Billy. It's a spoiler. It's like, do you want me to give you a little more pie? It's also the first time I was in a film with you. Right. So anyway, that's how I thought he was an excellent from. He was tied with, he wasn't been in black. He was in a law and order series as well for a while. Excellent. You know, episode 220.
