Can the crew keep it under control? Who is this cloaked gentleman and who is he working for?

[Music] Hello, and welcome to Night's of the Night's actual play podcast. This world of darkness story, The Sin Eater, was written in a rotten Firestore dollar stop. And now, please enjoy episode 218, titled, "C.I. information is useful," and actual play begins immediately. [Music] This is the world of darkness story, The Sin Eater, I'm your storyteller Scott, and with us tonight on my right is, Michael playing Ethan Clark, a medical doctor and member of Aegis Kaiduro since 1929. Tom playing J. Alton, a member of the ascending one and leader of this group. I am Jim playing Kadio Connor, non-crazy driver, and member of the Malius Millipacharm. Mike playing Michael Clay, the academic adventurer from Aegis Kaiduro room, and no one of consequence. Nice. Thomas playing Edgard Montes, if you're doing a practitioner, I remember the name of the story, this appears. John playing Daniel Morgan, a mountain man turned mercenary, an ex-member of Task Force Valkyrie. Rachel playing Grace, or Silver Bell, angsty, angry, teenager. Edgard, start shattering mirrors, correct? Shatter some mirrors, I don't know where the... Actually, you find one mirror and shatter in the area that you're in. Katie, you have the gun, what are you doing? This is the mirror? I'm sorry, Grace went before both of you, my bad, go. See, that's what I thought. You whispered did nothing, J. gave you dirty look. Right. Isn't that camera dirty look? So, I'm gonna obviously say... I can't blind him, it's just so that you know that you can't be blinded. While all this was going on, and the lights, you could see... Oh, a little bit more. Yeah, I was looking around for mirrors and... You see one by the mom. There's one by the mom. Where am I standing? I'm near the mom, the big M. Then I'm gonna reach over and shatter the mirror. Okay, looking at her in the eye, shatter your bitch. Exactly, you shatter a mirror. On the other side, you don't want me to roll, make sure there's no hidden bullshit mirror. No, no hidden bullshit to the toilet. No, there's a mirror, you may shatter it with your fist. There's no hidden mirrors, there's just mirrors. You look over, there's a small mirror there, so they could be considered a mirror. No, not anymore. Not anymore, there's not. And that leads us to Katie. Not wasting everything. I say, remember that un-shattered mirrors are dangerous to this thing, we just want to smash the flawed mirrors. And I'm looking for, right where he was standing, where he was tackled for a flawed mirror, just if I can break that. There is a flawed mirror, right where he was standing. I'm shattering that one. Yes, there's also a little girl now screaming. I'm confused, what flawed mirror? One of the spirit's weaknesses is being reflected in an uncracked mirror. One of the mirrors, actually, the only way it can be someone who has a mirror with a single crack and a name written. So two, let's be cracked, not broken. Two shattered, no good, not shattered at all, no good. I need to have just a cracked chin, right? Yeah, never still. Yeah, no good, shatter all of them. So they can't go at all. So, Edgard, you shattered the mirror. I shattered the mirror. You looked right at the mom, smiled, and shattered the mirror. You ignored a screaming child, shattered the mirror. Nice, nice. Well, it is time for the gentleman to try to, the cult member, to try to break free. All he has is a chance die at this point. I've double trapped him, so. Your brakes is on. Your roll of ten. Isn't this contested? Yes, it is. And he's crippled. Didn't he roll down? No, it's like a six or eight. It looks like it is too reflective. It's an eight. A chance die set is not as success, it has to be. I think we're going to take this briefly out of combat because there's not a lot. I'm moving to the daughter and calming her down. You said she was screaming. Yes, she's her. So I was trying to calm her down by saying, soothing, seeing, not doing, and not explaining anything. Just don't know. Daniel's just. White's mom's okay. Everybody's okay. There was a bad man here. He's been taking care of him. Right, and there is a man in what looks to be a great cloak, as you all know, being immobilized by Daniel on the ground. I wait for the train to take effect in the default unconscious. That's going to happen apparently. I'm going to, well, I'm going to say, since he can't actively fight it now, that he can't move and he's immobilized. So for the sake of moving at the speed of plot, we'll say he's been successfully tranquilized. And he currently falls unconscious. Okay. I'm going to find something in here that that can be used for rope. I'm sure they're trusting their twine or something. And I'm going to tie his hands up. Hands back or whatever. To help Daniel out. Yeah. Sure. That's all good. You have a hysterical mom and a hysterical daughter, who have been somewhat calmed to the situation. They do become more client once they see that there was someone indeed in the shanty that you're removing. Good, seven people. Yes. Well, but one that obviously has been immobilized, tied up, and... She doesn't recognize him? No. She does not. As we were wandering around the town, I look at Grace and say, "Better outcome." You see how information is so useful? Thanks. Good job. And that was sincere. Your outcome. See how information is so useful. That's what she always gets. Yes. You could now at the end of the session say that your B is fulfilled because he wasn't being sarcastic. That was not being sarcastic. Can we add experience points to our skills? Yes. Is it one experience point? Gets one extra... Every doc you want to spend that you want to put out in the lobby, it's supposed to. It's not? Yeah, to be at least nine boxes on top. I'm going to back down to zero because I'm going to do this just so you know I now have to intercept your future because I originally had three, but I had to change it to empathy. That's why I roll. Right. Okay. You have an unconscious individual. What do you do? Let's take him back to the doctors first because he's the closest. And then eventually probably the hotel room. Yeah, he might have a bad idea who he is too. And I think at this point Ethan and Michael Clay can interject too. I mean if you guys want to continue. The mission is successful. The walkies were open for the whole thing. We sort of heard what was going on, but could you provide it? Oh yeah, we absolutely fill you and everything's under control here. We got here. We got here in time. We stopped an individual who was about to summon the shattered man we believe. That's been stopped. The girl is safe. Was there any indication that he was? Well he didn't have an entire unit in him yet. He was in a cloak which was weird. He was also carrying a gun which we haven't seen that with the zombies before. They just seem to be normal. Not in a position where they're actually carrying weapons and aggressive. But he didn't seem like he was under some kind of spell. He didn't say a word. He kind of went out in this iteration. We'll find out. I'm going to ask Grace about the other ones. Well done let's. There's a knock on your hotel room door. Oh of course. Ethan get it. I, uh, were not expecting anyone that would knock on a door at three o'clock in the morning. Shatter me. So I get a second round. The second round. Laughter. Remember your training. One moment please. You have a little people. Yeah, or do we know the doors back then? No. No. So was it please? Room service. Didn't order anything. Nope. Rob room. Thank you. Rob room. Room service. I have an order for Ethan Clark. Room 207. Oh well done but we still didn't order anything. Shall I leave it out here then? Yes please. Do you hear anything? You hear the clatter of a tray and you test those of some sorts and silverware. And then you hear footfalls departing down the hallway. Like I would expect you. Like you'd expect too. So now if the inevitable, do you want me to open them? You get the gun. Oh yeah. I've got my gun out but. It is over here. It is a door. Come on guys it's a door. It's a frickin' bullet show though. Oh no, no, no, no. It's a good point. A voice from the ether tells me that it's a door so we should sit and think about whether to open it or on the radio. Yeah I'm not crazy about the timing and I'm not hungry either so. It's probably from binary hexed with a little message in the silver platter. You think? Or you open it up and it's a mirror and has your name on it. Do you want me to look at it? No let me do it. You're more valuable right now. Oh my goodness. So don't look at it. They're not there. We're on the radio. Open the door. He is there. Just like that. Wait a minute, you open the door. What the fuck I can't do anything right today? So you have your gun out? Yes, I'm also prepared now. I'm ready for a fight. I am prepared for either an attack to come from either side of the door. Or behind you. Or maybe behind me sure. You're actually opening the door. I am opening the door. Okay. Well what did that take? I mean it's got to be a record. Not you specifically, I mean. No I know. Right that was pretty quick. You open the door and you see a silver tray and you do see a round plate with a cover stainless steel or silver type cover over a plate. And if you peek down the hallway you see what looks to be a bellhop dressed in Amsterdam purple exiting to the elevator. We wouldn't have seen the bellhop before right? But he's in the uniform the little bell box. It looks like a uniform but you can't tell from the back from 50 paces away. All right. I've had room service here before. I know I have. Did the knock and everything kind of vaguely match up with it? All seems absolutely perfect. That's another part that you didn't order it. Well yeah this is the plate with the cover big enough to fit a head in. We also knew that there was a telegram sent to us here too. So not not an adult head. But a child's head. Yes. Just. Yes I was big enough to fit a head in. I'm just giving you the answer. Maybe 12 inch radius. Maybe a 8 year old. That's just. All right it's a big difference. What kind of room service dug on? It's really, I know that's what I mean. Just after 3 a.m. Don't open it. All right I lift up the lid. With what? My left hand. Oh my left hand. I'm not able to get out of my boat or anything. Okay. It's a tactical nuke. Also don't know. There is an envelope that's sealed and it has the name Mr. Ethan Clark right down the private. In black calligraphy. Really really good. I'll open that. Sure. That's a federal crime if you open that. Black ink gets in a calligraphy stop. All right I tell Dr. Ethan that okay we've got a message. It's not food. It's some kind of envelope with a name written in black. Calligraphy ink. I pick up the tray. Anything else in the tray? Just silverware just. There was yeah there was a napkin folded to look like a swan. A knife fork and spin. Well wait a second the silver plate is reflected. Yeah it has to be impaired so it's bad. It's not cracked is it? Well it's not you know the amp fan isn't high. It's not a mirror though it's so you said it's a platter. Why don't you leave that crap out in the hall and bring it to the water? Well yes Mr. Clark. Do I get a two bit tip too? Okay so I pick up the letter envelope and I take it to and give it to you. And I close the door and lock it behind me. And the envelope feels a little happy to you. I'd give it to you either. All right Ethan you have a what doesn't feel well I've been to you. I can't lift an envelope. If I need to roll I mean this will look like a regular envelope. Put a regular envelope like go ahead and open it up. All right it's a thick piece of paper which is more used in the 1930s than in the 2010s that we just said it was heavy. In fact the paper you're used to it's a thicker more quality type of linen paper. A delicate flower and I can't look at an envelope. It's your paper cut. And it says quite simply I'd white bishop to black castle. Check. I just want to read. Huh I share that white bishop to black castle. Check. Which one are we? It's the white king. The place we have at his his or black as I talked to Ethan. His place is called the place that we're going to look at before we ran out to go find Emma Thompson was a place called the White Castle. At least we were going to look at or a place I wanted to. Again it was probably just you know. I was gonna go it's still open the the mics are still open. I'm pretty sure it's lit. And just cut off. I'm pretty sure he's the one you were nagging us to try to go to. No I wanted to go. Not you. I didn't need anybody. We should. Alright. Let's make that clear. And you still don't. And back to the scene. I don't know why you got to be like that. Why do you have to be like that? I don't need anybody. I can go on my own. I've shown you this. I want to go. No you haven't shown me that you showed me that you can fail at your spells. I saw that. Oh wow. There goes the tip of the cap. None of us. Yeah so we got it. None of us are flawless. Every one of us needs each other's help. And we need you Grace. And if you say. Wait what was that? We need you. You need me? Yes. Oh. This is the nun saying this by the way. She can't lie for shit that's how you know it's true. As I told you last time tomorrow morning we'll go to the castle and we'll all go together and find whatever you want there. And back to the the hotel room. Excellent. I would report. It's called Franklin Castle not the White Castle. White Castle is a burger joint. Is that open yet? Go ahead. Get back on the radio and I let Jane know that we just received an envelope. Well they hurt because you was open until she started complaining about the guests. Oh that's right. So the radios are off. Yeah. They're all around. Is that sign? No. That's it. Are you playing a game of chess with someone? No. Okay I don't know what that means though. I don't play chess. Actually again one check. It means that they're about. A white bishop has taken a black rook also known as a castle. White bishop the black castle. He's poised to defeat. And he's put a small check right here. Okay so yes essentially. When did we lose a rook? I guess. Who's a rook? A rook. No just one of the envelopes. I'm saying who is important enough that we also lost to count. I don't even know that's been lost is the guy we just took out. Yeah we hadn't taken nowhere on the white guy. He's not one of ours. He's not one of ours. What's that? Might have been a decoy. I got a good idea. Let's say goodbye. Try to fix the door and drag this guy to the hotel and tear again. We're already dragging him over to the deck. Well we leave this place. I offer the remainder of the money that Ethan gave me from this time period. I offered to the mother to replace the things we broke. Sorry about that. Hopefully your daughter will be safe for taking care of this job. Right. She's. That's your money what I'm like. Appreciative. And also the reserve still because we're leaving. She'll be fine. Because you guys are. Going back to Ethan, we could call down to the desk and ask him where it was this letter just delivered now and brought up to us. So maybe we could find out if somebody dropped it off or where it came from. Because it's a handwritten note and an envelope. You know what I mean? I suppose that's what we have to jump through but I'm kind of familiar with you. You guys explained that there was some guy knocking in the door and you didn't know. Apparently it's the normal room service but we've already encountered someone who's been a puppet already. I kind of roughed him up a bit. Yeah we could at least find out if there was a legitimate room service person that came to my room. That's our card? Can you do anything with the calligraphy Chris? Not unless I have a name. Michael. Chew on the other hand. Chew still with us right? He's not the black road. We turn around and he's gone. No he's still with you. If Chew were here what would he say? He would say fuck this shit. I want to go home. I want to go home. It's like he's still there. Boss when this abduction doesn't take place the White King is going to notice. So he's going to know by tomorrow morning that you want us to go there that something's up. Are you saying you want to go there tonight? I'm saying we should attack him as quick as possible. Why are we assuming that the White King what exactly are you saying here? I think let's get everybody together real quick. We take this guy to the doctor. Does the doctor know him? I get an eye patch. Ethan's good. We move over to the hotel if he doesn't. He does not recognize him at all. He has an eye patch for you which he can take care of. He thanks you for saving a child tonight. He's very appreciative and if there's anything he can do to help in your endeavor as you know where he's at. He doesn't recognize this guy. And he does not. I mean you guys can again move against speed of plot. You can check to see if he's lying. We've got all intents and purposes. He seems like he's telling me. I want to get everybody back together at the hotel room. So anybody's got something before that. I just really quick want to know again. What did it say? The white bishop to black ruccum. White? Not the white bishop to black castle. Period. Check. Period. Okay. Child was on a completely separate line as the first. We'd get back to the hotel. If anybody asks any question this guy's been drinking too much. It's easy to exactly. I'm assuming that we saved a child but we just. We could have misdirected it. Well that or this was just the first attempt. Is there any reason to believe that it won't you won't see another attempt? 15 minutes from now or? We have no information on that either way. And the only way we might have of getting information on that is how we got the information in the first place. The pattern has been done one a night. Okay. I want every two nights. Yeah. And I would have to say that it might be that way because they have to set up somebody to do that and it takes a little timing and planning to get some guy and pick it out and send the person with the mirror and all that. So I hope it's going to be hard to really do that on the fly again tonight. All right. And Gar, did you have something you wanted to add? The old poem. I just wanted to read it. Yeah, no. If we're all back in the hotel room. We are all back in the hotel room. It's what I want to do. 4.15 in the morning. Restrain this guy so it's not going to be a problem at all. And then let's look at everything we have as far as knowledge on the castle, the night, the king and everything. We have at least the one saying that was set outside the door. We have this new one that's added. We have Grace's knowledge on the castle itself. Let's look at all of that. If we need to move tonight and now then we need to move tonight and now that's fine. Before you guys made it back, I was going to investigate whether or not the kitchen or whoever responsible. Gotcha. If it's even possible that the old bin or if they actually did better not. Sure. Michael, do we see the guy, are they bringing them to the hotel? They are going to, they say they're bringing him to the hotel. They act like he's drunk and inebriated and bringing him up to the room is what they tell you. They haven't seen him yet. Not yet. Okay. Edgar. They had two more documents they wanted to research. So you can probably get that done while we're gone. We don't have to roll for it now. We could do it first thing first thing when we get in next week. I just want that to be done before we go on on a small. Right. They do believe that that stuff was smaller in life. You know, you'll get some pluses because of your great role even. But it was also more difficult because there was some dialect involved with the latin, both of the cases and the smaller books before we get to the hotel room. Dragging this guy through the shanty town and whatnot. I just put the pistol up against him and he's one more rank. Because it only lasts like 10 minutes and he was probably in the. That's a long one. Right, exactly. So and we'll say that it's starting to wear off when you get him into the room. His hands are bound behind him by Sister Katie in some twine that she found. So it's not a very secure temporarily, but he is not by any stretch of imagination completely immobilized at this point. Did you describe the man? I described as middle aged. He has salt and pepper hair. He's Caucasian. He is of average height for the age. So in this era, probably five, nine, five, 10, five, nine, probably I would say. Is he dressed well, dressed poorly? He has on a gray, what looks to be some type of lineny material for his cloak. It's very thin underneath it. He has on what looks to be, you would say casual. Middle class to maybe slightly above middle class clothing. Doesn't he have any religious memorabilia on him, perhaps across that he might be wearing or anything like that? No tattoos. He is wearing a cross around his neck, however. Makes sense. His shoes, are they expensive or cheap? Because at this time, there's shoes in every right. You would say not to rain your prey, but somewhat middle of the road. They're certainly well worn, but they are nice shoes. Okay. I guess my point is that this does not appear to me on first glance, someone who lives in the slums. I go on a shanty town. Yeah, residence. Or it's hard on his luck. Very quickly, I want to circle back to Ethan and Michael Clay in regards to your ring down to the front desk. And so your ring down, there is a knight steward who watches the front desk and he answers the phone. Yes, I'm wondering how late the kitchen is open and when can I get room service? Oh, our kitchen is open throughout the evening for our distinguished guests, which you, of course, are one of. Mr. Clark, and we can bring up anything you would like. Within reason, obviously, we have some things that aren't available in the middle of the night, but most of our breakfast menu is available at this time. Well, it's odd because I received an empty tray. When did this have been? Minutes ago. An empty tray. Somebody said room service and left it outside. When I checked, it was all the utensils and silver. Well, I do dare say that perhaps someone's playing a trick on you, Mr. Clark. My sincere apologies. I'll have the knight busboy come up there and take care of it. Can you question the one who would have delivered that and see if that's. Yes, we were obviously on a skeleton staff during the late evening hours, or the early morning hours. That particular individual will be questioned quite thoroughly. I appreciate it. Let me know as soon as you find out. Sure, about five minutes passes and then the phone in the room rings through from the front desk, and it's once again the, the knight steward. And he tells you that he has spoken to a kitchen busboy for the early morning shift, and he has no idea what you're speaking of. He has a feeling that perhaps one of the other guests who ordered room service might have left it outside your room for some reason as a prank or something. He really is quite confused as to what would be the rationale behind that. Okay, I appreciate your efforts. And please accept our apologies. And did you want to order anything from the kitchen? No, just have them set. He chuckles and sits. Once again, sir, I'm sure it wasn't him. We could come up and remove the tray if you'd like. No, thank you. All right. Calls with any other concerns, sir. And that's the end of that very brief scene. A guy who whispered the poem inside the door at the Western Union. He might have been just a puppet. Right. So, they may not even have a memory. Good point. It might not have been a third party dressing like that. It might have just been someone acting without knowing it. And within minutes later, not minutes, but maybe about a half hour. You start delving into the Latin, but not deep enough to get a roll done. We'll handle that probably early next session. They arrive with not going to door two. One of the two rooms, we'll say the men's abode, where the guys are staying. That's where the two doctors are studying the Latin texts. And probably the place you would bring a man anyway is that is somewhat coming out of his comatose state at this point. I wonder how you're going to play the lobby scene on that. Two, yeah. Well, it was just a drunken, yeah. Exactly. Arms around. Come on, buddy. Put up. Yeah. Let's go. Of course, he shouts out. Need any help? Any assistance, sir? We're more than happy to get you some assistance if you need. Just need to sleep it off. I need a drink. Does Dr. Ethan or I recognize this guy? Dr. Ethan does not recognize the gentleman. He's, again, relatively nondescript. There's no tattoos, no burns, no scars. Evident, you may have any evidence to check on. I guess my point is it wasn't the guy that-- No, not the guy from the valley. Absolutely not. He looks to be a middle-aged man. Once we get up to the rooms, I'm going to ask these guys to secure him better. And I'm going to go to both rooms checking all the mirrors for flaws. Okay. I've already taken those mirrors down to use as weapons against the shattered man. But you can still check through them. I'll try to check them and make sure there's no flaws in any of them. Okay. I would caution all of you that this man's probably an innocent, so let's tread softly. That's why he's tranquilizers so far from that flaws. Talk! So he ends up in a chair, I'm assuming. And you do have some flex ties from your operations in the past. That you, that are easily, those are obviously-- That's something that Ethan saw before. But certainly, yes. And so, arms and legs and the chair, I'm assuming, behind him. I mean, not the legs behind him. And the legs to the chair's legs. Right. So he's quite immobilized. Anything else being done to him? I cover his eyes. Okay, blindfolded. Gag him until we're ready to question him. With? No, I'll just grab something on his mouth. So it's my fault that he tries to scream me out. Okay. A cloth of some sort. Sure. No problems with-- We're building her on torture suite. Apparently. What do you got? Does he have any cigarettes on him? The 30s. Sure. Yeah. Mission accomplished. He doesn't anymore. He started to come out of his stupor. And what happens next? I don't know. No, exactly. What order do you guys want to take this in? You said there was a message delivered. And-- Are you explaining in detail? Sure, it happened. The knock on the door. Really, no efforts to discover who delivered it. Okay. I was spiked on a treat, right? So I have no idea what you did in the Western Union with any mirrors, if anything. Or your abilities with that. Yeah. The message that was put in this silver mirror light structure. Could you use that to find out past history, or is it only current or future? It is a reflection. Yeah. I don't know. Can I can try? I just need the note. You've never done it. Well, he's talking about the silver platter. Oh, the platter? The guy was carrying it in mirror reflection. I think the best bet. Are you saying it has to be collapsed? If I were to look into the reflection, the only thing that I could do is find out where that person is right now. I don't know if that was-- Okay, we don't need that because-- Because you might not know or have any recollection of what even happened. Right, yeah. I was hoping for something in the past. The best bet, if you want something in the past, would be to, uh, I could try. I could try to take a look at the letter. But I need it. Dr. Ethan has the letter. Okay, hand it over. Is that going to take a look at her? Because I want to talk about significance. If you need to do something. You guys do your thing. It's-- I need to be alone for this. Why are we going to be alone for this? We have that letter with the writing that's on it. We have the poem that was set in the back behind the Western Union, the Seam related. To me, it looks like we need a nigma roll. Someone to start tying this stuff together. Well, first of all, do you mention that it was a calligraphy? So do we recognize a handwriting? Does it look familiar? Have we ever seen this kind of? No. Okay. The saying about the rook being taken by the-- White Bishop to Black Castle period check. Do we think there's anything-- I mean, it doesn't really say what position on a chess board that would be. Those are simply pieces. Right, they're not-- it's not a typical chess move. It's just kind of a chess metaphor. Or a brag, or something. But what's significant is that it seems to have been delivered at a moment when you guys did your thing. Yeah, I'm sorry, the only person I know who could do something that quick or that weird is pets. Well, apparently, there's another person. I don't know. There seems to be a lot of timing going on here, so I don't quite understand. I'm sorry. But one more time, what was this one? Can we-- White Bishop to Black Castle and then check. I just was wondering what the first message was, so we could hear him back to back. Right. Yeah, the white king, while angels sing, resides in a castle whispering and calling a shattered being. That implies that who's calling the shattered man is the white king, right? Yeah. I mean, that's how I would interpret that. Directed him. And staying with the color thing, this one is saying that a white bishop took one of our pieces, presumably with the others. Yeah, am I missing something? We're all here. Oh, we're not. Wait, how about the kids? Where's Hex? Well, the only castle we've been talking about before we all left was Franklin Castle. Maybe this guy was a decoy and they took our kids. Yeah, it's certainly worth checking out. One second. How many dice do you have? Three, four, nine. Nine. And how long does this take? I can roll for this ceremony once every minute. Okay. And then target number 85. 85 successes. So go ahead and for reasons unbeknownst to you, remove two dice. Okay. And go ahead and can you describe what you're doing as a character in this moment? I'm staring at this letter intently and walking around in a circle around the room. Okay, well, she's doing it. Dang. She creeps me out when she's doing it. I'm going to go check on the kids. Well, she's alone, isn't she? She's in her other-- No, why don't you-- I can't do that. Oh, shit. She's in your own walkie. I thought she said she had to be alone. I had to say-- She corrected herself, right? She said she said she said I don't need to be alone. I just need to focus on this. I need to say it back one ten again. Okay, one ten again. Okay, so she walks around in the circle for one minute and is talking to herself, looking at the thing and flipping it over and kind of just getting in touch with it. Edgard and I can't go check on the kids. We're not even going to get into that hotel. Somebody's got to go check on them. Guys, while this is happening, just so you know, unless you want to meet a start all over again, don't talk to me. I can't talk to you. No problem. I got a radio and I go to the other hotel. I'll go as far as I can with him. I can't go into the hotel, but-- Okay, well, real quick, this guy's waking up, but you have tied up. Oh, no, he's not. How many times did you have there, mister? How many did you give me? Do you give me like a clip of him? I think it was like 12. Dude, you used the majority of them in chagrin. On zombie? On your father. We're not talking. And one on you. Yeah, you can't talk to me anymore, so. All right, you'd remember that. I only used one on her father. Shot him in the eye. Yeah, he used one on her. I have tranquilizers in my black bag that don't need to be treated in this man. Take two of them, that's much quieter, thanks. Do you have sodium pentatol? Of course. There you go. You have something in your bag. Dr. Ethan, you can easily put him under for a while, some chloroform or something on those lines. Just because you need it all the time in here. Roofed actually, pursuits. Those were legit back. And Daniel and Jay go back to the hotel Cleveland. Yeah, wait outside the lobby. Right, and Daniel is able to check with the front desk. They refuse to leave the kids are sleeping. We've left them for several days with a nanny service that they have at the hotel. So they're currently sleeping with other children, and there's been no disturbance that we're aware of. The children are fine. But we don't really want you to be waking them up in the middle of the night. Leave them there, just want to check out them. Okay. So you don't get a visual, but you get a verbal information. It's kind of wish you watched it for me because people can say anything. I mean, we just had a guy walk up to our thing and say a room service, but never. I mean, if you want to pursue it, I'm outside. Do whatever you want. I can't. I don't want to drop in. No, I'm in trouble. Roll for your second minute. Thank you. Go on. Mm, it's pretty difficult. Six. Yeah. Can I just have a different nice, please? Yeah. You have to roll down. These are the worst. One success. Yeah. It's extraordinary. I've had four or four rolls all night with these. Even if you were going to send them. A lot of time I build up the lunch. Seven. I kept so many things that I was saying. No, it wasn't. Okay. Come on. Roll. Oh, yeah. They're growing a whole other hotel. Sorry. Yeah, we're going for it. Hey, you're right. These things are great, guys. So one, two, three. Don't re-roll the 10 against. Put them on the side. Don't re-roll. Just so you remember you had them. Right. Do you know how many successes you had? Okay. Any other successes or no? No, just those three and then. Okay, then pre-roll two for the 10 against. Any successes? No. So that's four successes. You are now at four successes, and then in the fourth minute of walking right in circles, being weird and vibrating as well. Is everyone else singing? Five. Six. Or seven. This is a nine. So seven successes. Okay, so you reached the threshold of successes, and. Much better, guys. Thank you. Okay. I want you to read off, out loud, what you can find out by that. You don't have to tell them what it is, just what you can find out about it. Remind me with the first paragraph. Remind you? Sure. One second. Don't you guys have additional documents you can be looking into? Yeah, we're both about it if you want. That's fine. I understand if they're sitting around doing nothing. We are going to love her. I thought you said that. I said do it next week. Latin. Yeah, I said, you see the research. You got all the books you need. You just need to put time into it. After dosing the captive, and I see her wandering around, we can get back to it. Well, it gets really, yeah, get back to it. I thought I might like lose my mind. No, I said we'll handle it next week. Okay. But Tom, since things got derailed, I think he meant, "Hey, can we get to take care of this before the session ends?" It just seems you guys are sitting around doing nothing, so. Go ahead. I can read soggy compressions of the past, from certain places and objects. For example, I could possibly see images, or experience the emotions and thoughts of the person who owned the object, the person who was holding the object, depending on what that object is. True, does it? He does it much better than you. But, yeah. What you see briefly in your meditations, what looks to you to be some type of bellhop, or individual dressed in a bellhop uniform, you see him at a table with stationary and pens. You see his eyes flutter up into his head for a moment, and his visage seems to change, where before his facial expressions were, I don't know, it's maybe just somewhat more pedestrian and bored. Now, if they're almost completely wiped clean, it's almost as if his face is completely neutral. So, it went from someone who looked bored and going about his chores. Like, you think this had turned and he had purpose? Right, his eyes went up into his head, and then they came back down again, and it just looks like he's wearing a mask that's completely blank of expression. You see him get the stationary, write something down, you see him put it into an envelope, and then the scene face. Does this look familiar to me? The whole eye is going up. Dang. I can't say that you've seen that before, no. I've never seen that before? Nope. Okay. Jay, you and Daniel return after what is not much more than a 20-minute trip to the room. Let me explain to everyone that the kids are fine. Okay. So, I'm moving the kids are fine. The bellhop was a middleman. That's all I could find out. No one else touched this paper. The bellhopper wrote the message. Someone or something told him what to write. A disembodied voice. Like he was possessed? Yes. Like the individual, the backdoor of the. Yes. Yeah. So, if someone has the ability to telepathically or transmit thoughts, or just control, yeah, control and intelligence. Yes. Why control? Okay. What if they do that to us? We're kind of wasting one really valuable. Yes, I've been told a bit of information. That we're saving it. It's fine. But I'm saying that it's potentially something we should be looking at next. Yes. Adgard. However, you've been carrying around this folder full of information that you got at the Western Union. Western Union, you want to fill us on what's exactly in there? I didn't have time to read it before shit went to pot. Well, now's the time. Okay. What a ton on the title. He got some information from the Western Union office about where this telegram came from and who sent it. We've been carrying it to another universe and back. Well, knowing what we know now. Would you like for me to now finally take a look at that chart and see if I can see who was told to send that telegraph? Or are you thinking that maybe it was just another middleman? We were going to get it. It could potentially be. I mean, if it doesn't cost you too much resource, then that's fine. Let's see if this address tells us something first. I know my resources are limited. Because we can look at it. Right. But it's not on the table. I don't know anything about it. Is there an address on there? And on the... In the bottom left, it's a sender's name and address for reference. And then it has a WU-1-2-0-7 and parentheses R-2, blah, blah, blah, blah. He went and found this file. Correct. The filing cabinet took it out. We now, supposedly, have the sender's name and address for reference. Now, is binary's address the same as this castle they're going to go visit? That's what I want to know. What is this address where he does? Oh, you want to see... Okay, I understand what you're saying. Right. Is he the white king? Is he the white king? Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Just say contrived stuff. I think that's an excellent question. Like we've never gone to 11.30 before. Oh, I'm so sorry. Wait a minute. You said you were really tired. I am really tired. I was trying to be really nice. I'd be fine leaving. I'm just saying like really... Doesn't want to rip the cheek. That's what... What's the answer? The answer is no. The address is not Franklin Castle. It is an address in Ohio City, however, and the address that's written down for reference under Mr. B. Hacks is 900 Trobridge Boulevard. Ohio City 44119. The file does have reference to an address that's on file for a B. Hacks. And it does contain a phone number field. However, it's left blanker. It has actually an N.A. in the phone field. So either it's... He didn't give it or it was not applicable. Let's remember that if this guy was possessed like the others, he didn't know what address he was writing, and it could be anything. It could be awful. And he's valid. Though this telegram does not sound like the poems we've been receiving. That's true. Grace? You know a lot about Franklin Castle? Yes. Do you have to know what it's made out of? If I were standing out in front of it, would it look like a white castle or a black castle? Or just red castle. Red, red castle. But moving... It is red, red. Okay, just... But if it's a haunted house, and if bad things happen in it... Yeah, it could be... Obviously, it could be a metaphor or a map specifically. Well, that's the thing. There seems to be a linked purpose here, but I don't see it. I don't understand why... I don't understand what the purpose is yet. I don't know... All right. I think our next thing is to start asking questions of this gentleman in a chair here, which obviously we'll have to wait till next week. Sure. The interview can take place next week, as can potentially Grace looking in a shard of who came into... Just thinking... Revelation? Like a revelation, which is... I don't know. I just think there's a white king, right? And under white bishop and there are angels. I don't think it's a coincidence that it was a bishop and that there are angels. And I'm thinking that maybe a castle closes thing to looking like a castle would be a giant church of sorts. Thank you so much. Regardless, though, did you say that while I was out of the room? I think I said it like three weeks ago, so I don't blame anyone for not remembering. It could be a phase. The last message of white bishop to black castle check. Could you say beings from the hedge too? What about the last message? Just go. Well, it seems that regardless of everything else, they're getting all their pieces in place and they have everything they need to make their last move. I agree, but what I don't understand is... Is that message acknowledgement of our actions or is it a warning or threat of their actions? You know what I mean? Are those two notes giving to us to be helpful to us? Or are they bragging till we got you? He can't already know. We have his man. Why not? He communicates telepathically. He commands people telepathically. Or somehow, if it's the past to him, he knows when to do things. Because if he's in the future or has a sense of... Do you think he gets binary hash? It could be. I don't know. Or just another counterpart in the future. Okay, I don't think... All I know is that the reserves came at three o'clock. It's approximately the same time that you guys capture this guy. BinaryX has some sort of time. We know he has some time. That's been proven. He's spoken to us in two different time periods. Right. And he's left messages for when we were going to be, when we had no idea where we were going to be. Yeah, when he said he was going to contact us, I think it sounded like it was going to be more of a direct contact. You know, it's me not a mysterious, weird message out of nowhere. Doesn't seem his style. Yeah. He'd be laughing at us and teasing us about how we don't want those going. I love how we got your man. Although I would like to politely hear exactly what happened at the Shantytown about this so-called time slip. I don't quite understand what that means. You'll have to ask Grace. I don't know. That's all I really know. Lately. I'm asking politely... And we don't have to go into it tonight. No, by all means to get a great way to wrap up tonight. Michael Clay has a question to ask you politely how the time slip worked. Or what is it? She sighs heavily. I know. Well, I do recall that she's saying that she had nothing to do with us traveling back in time. I never said I had nothing to do with us traveling back in time. All right, well so then does that... Okay, then you did have something to do with this. I said there was a response of the- This is the oldest fucking ground. It does not matter. We have cross over this. This is not them. We can talk about that when we don't think we're running out of time. Sorry. Okay. Now, arguing about how we got here. I'm pretty tired. It's four o'clock in the morning. I think I need some rest. Uh, an explanation of the time slip is fine. I don't think so. Let's just- [Laughing] Michael, you're not going to get it from the stubborn teenager. Michael, we're going to rest after we interrogate this guy. The time slip is something that I do. Do you have a problem with it? That I won't do it again? I don't have a problem with it. What I'm sorry. It's like politely. It can only happen a minute or two like bumps. So, she claims. I don't know. I just- If she could do more, Daniel, you're not- It would help her on this, are you? I asked her a chance of the question. Or- I asked Jamie as good of an answer she can provide. Talked me. I tried- Again. It's a goddamn mystery. So- I trust Grace. She says she was responsible for us getting all the way up here. And then I'm- We're still dealing with demon blood. So, I don't know about you. And it seems like a really good place to end. I'm rolling to satisfy- With a whimper. Yes, ends with a- Okay, everyone take a beat for your role-playing this evening. Anyone who did something extra special can take a beat, which would be Grace certainly did some extra work. Let's give an extra beat to Ethan and Michael Clay for their work with the envelope. Not getting a paper cut. And not getting a- Well, just kind of unraveling a little bit. Having the strength. I mean, that was pretty ballsy from Mr. Clay to open up the door like that. If you just reward opening doors, man. Well, for us? Yeah, that's a good idea. That's what I'm saying. I tore the whole door off the wall. Right. I have an impressive- The surgical strike nature of getting that man in custody without burning down the entire shanty town, which certainly has happened before- No shots fired. And no shots fired. I think that deserves a beat for everyone that was involved in that. Well, specifically- Yeah, I think everyone- All four of you that were there- Grace wasn't involved in the- Is involved with the surgical part of it. She was more involved with the aftermath, so she got her beat already. Oh, that's lame. That didn't happen. And, uh- Just so that everyone who was there got a beat for the- Who was there? Right, you got two beats. Be happy. No! [Laughs] Thank you for listening tonight's of the night's actual play podcast. Oh, can I- can I- can I- me? Me? Me? Me? Me? Me? I look like- mine? Mine? Mine? That sounds good. I need this. I don't know. I don't know. I made this. I made it. I don't know what else would be Bob's jerky. What did I- What did I- What did I talk about if you don't like Bob's jerky? Mine. Mine. It's actually pretty good. 7-11. That face there tells me exactly that. I don't understand why people think that Thomas did that thing with getting- that was me. That thing was not at all. Whatever. Fans really think that I didn't do that. Fans know you didn't do that. Because they- unlike you, we're listening. While Thomas was doing his thing. I was listening, I just- I'm so about. Mine. I did that. Mine. I made this. Mine. I got my help though. I made this. I like that. Is this recording? All of it's recording. Oh, it's so good. This is all very important. The fans need to know how my work works. And what am I- Oh, fine. I'm getting this. Oh, that's not going in there. You have a little people. Yeah, do we know the doors back then? No. Can we drill it real quick? Time out. Love it. Work through. Work through. Yeah, there you go. Please wait five minutes while I do this. Now is it please? Room service. Land shark. Not to mention- I heard Rachel sigh like it came from her toes about the opening of the door. Hey, there were two instances in which there was a door and I walked right through them and both of them. Well, yeah, but you're an outlier. You cut those out. Yeah. Okay, you also have a lot more information than we do so. And the envelope feels a little heavy to you, man. This is like soggy from blood. It's the one where I'm going. It's got a human ear and a cranberry. That's what it says. I don't know if it exists on that 30s. I don't think so now. Franklin Kastel White King. Franklin Kastel White King. Sorry, I looked at- Yeah, I passed like three and another close. What? I hit Franklin Kastel next to White King. I never ate there, but- Sure, no worries. So we're all supposed to think of it. Okay, back in seat. And all the parties are gone. Yes. Back in seat. I've already taken those mirrors down. Are they surrounding my cokelet? I would caution them. It was tough to pull away from a mirror for me, yes. I know. I didn't mean that. It meant safety reasons. But the joke works both ways. I didn't use that. Different mirrors? No, there's a step bar for that. I was feeling this guy's in on it more because he was armed and tried to flee according to her the first time. He could do your hypnosis, whatever. I thought I'd do something more. Do this shit, here's your gun. We'll do that shit. Sorry, I would verbatim from that. I'm 50/50 on whether he's more than the other girl. It doesn't, no, it's a touch screen. Okay, what are you trying to do? I went down to try to get to scroll more of the skills. Sorry, guys. Sorry, yeah, but um- Yeah, any cigarettes on them? It's not a skill. It's a sandwich. So I don't have to perform on it, but- Does he? Got it? Wait till they're done. Yes, can't. Couldn't work if I bought alcohol and cigarettes and you stole them from me. You probably- Oh, you don't smoke. You don't smoke? Hey, you got your- I think 35 smoke. Yeah, you gotta reload on food beer and cigarettes, don't you? I only said drink because of that stupid ritual where he was like, "You're the alcohol." Who does that? He does it much more. Better. Yeah, much better than- A little better. Yeah. Uh, if you guys would like to handle this, we certainly can handle it now. If it's something relevant, it could feel the crochet. If it's simply you setting the sentence, no, it's not the same address, then- Well, the- Well, it's- Or it doesn't have one there? True Bridge isn't in the Ohio City area. Yeah. That's not the entire Ohio City area, though. Plus the 900 address is going to be- Each ninth and true bridge, basically. The thyages usually work on West High. Well, it's not- Or it's really across the- Yeah, exactly. And it is West High. Correct. Yeah. What's the realest one there? No, it has been real to you. What does it find? That magic rocket- - Well, I'm this man, though, right?
