[Music] Hello, and welcome to Night to the Night Actual Play Podcast. This world of darkness story decined and was written and run by your storyteller Scott. And now, please enjoy Episode 194, titled The Long Way Home. Actual play begins immediately. [Music] This is Chapter One of the World of Darkness story The Sin Eater. I am your storyteller Scott, and with me to my right is Michael Playing. Don't know yet. Tom playing Jay Alden. I am Jim playing Katie O'Connor. Thomas playing Ed Godman Tastes. Mike playing Michael Clay by playing Special Agent 2 Park. John playing Daniel Morgan. Rachel playing Grace Rock. ♪ Come down off your throne and leave the body alone. ♪ ♪ Somebody must dream. You are the result. I've been waiting so long. ♪ ♪ Somebody holds key. But now, in the end I'm down just to go. ♪ ♪ One of the times. Oh, and I waste the day. ♪ ♪ God find right away home. ♪ We're going to actually pick up the story just minutes after the conclusion of the previous story, Shagrin. You find yourself just off the property of the darkened homestead, which has now been lit up with fire. The main stone colonials on fire and almost every building in the farm was in one way or another torched. You fled in various groupings back to where the vehicles were parked. If you recall, there was one eight task force Valkyrie vehicle, which was a Land Rover, which was actually disabled by Sister Katie O'Connor with her mad NASCAR skills. She just cabled, I think you just unwired the battery or something. Yeah, something quick, but unless you did it, you wouldn't know where to find it. Then you had your own vehicle, which was parked nearby the Valkyrie vehicles. And I say Valkyrie vehicles, because one of the vehicles was actually driven off the road into the fencing to give you a pathway through, which wasn't exactly the plan, but it still ended up getting you through and got the job done. So you are now filing into the cargo van and getting ready to make your way back to what I'm assuming is a safe house. But at this point, Jay, I think you should pretty much be a leader and we're handling this operation, so you might want to take over and say, what's happening or command your troops? I think we have three kids besides Grace. I mean, two. That is absolutely true. There are actual kids as opposed to Grace, who's now 27. She's 35. She has some kids. No, she's 16. I believe in the previous story, she was 14, but we tweaked her a little bit to make her 16 for this story, just for storytelling purposes. So she wasn't a child in danger. No, my teacher was not a child in peril. Well, the children in peril I have with the, I'm with the none, the children are with me, right? And even though why he just stood down or the vampire ignored me is what he did. Right. I think didn't choose to stand him down pretty much in that last conversation or not. Yeah, I had to step it up. Oh, okay. Socialize. I didn't do anything now. I believe Michael that the kids trusted you the most. Right. I didn't know why they didn't like me. I know exactly why they didn't like you. That's a mental. You're all gathered around. I believe Grace is still clinging to the neck of Daniel, Mr. Seven Foot Tall Daniel, who protected her through getting her out of the house fire, along with Jay's help, and also helped her get away from the spirits that were released upon her exit from the storm cellar. I'm pretty sure she was the one who killed it, actually. Right, but she's just amazing that one. She killed what? The spirit. Yeah. There were these heads chasing her and we figured out her picture was what killed them, but I didn't know how to work my phone. So I gave it to her and she took a picture. Take a selfie. You got to listen to the episode. Okay. It'll help. It'll be the last episode. Is she still carrying around the severed head? Yes. It's it appears to see what everyone else sees that as because for me it's facing his head. Oh, I see what she's saying. Oh, I might have some voodoo on it now. Okay. The task force Valkyrie vampire? Yes, just left. All right. Correct. Now a group of literally one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, nine individuals outside the cargo van that you drove here in Jay. Yes. Grace is still being carried by Daniel and your strength did come back. You're absolutely correct. It was more just he was his stripes were so much longer. And he was he was running across the field. You were holding on to him when you left the storm cellar. So you're fortunate to pick you back off. Yeah. You were not. And you were in a PC. You were an NPC. So as he ran, you grew and got older and so you may just take it yourself if you wish at this point, but that basically just ran with you across the field. But he's also a side scrunch. So he's larger. Very large. He's not actually, but no, no, he's not. But he's as big as did the band commando when he leave. Did he take the other vehicle or did he just take off? No, he just took off. Okay. Both of the other children are clinging on to Michael Clay for protection. They felt safest with you. Right. Obviously, sister is getting behind the wheel. Okay. Are we all gonna fit in this van? Yes, we got the other one. No, get in the van by the wheel to you take shotgun because literally you have a shotgun. Yeah. Yes. So there you go. I'm the closest thing we have to a medic. We'll go in the back with, I think, like those people who need medical attention is driving the car. That's true. She's like, almost done. That's fine. Yes, there were other children from the other families on the homestead and two of them were rescued from a fire. I'm burning barns. Not necessarily the house. They don't know. I'm sure you've seen them. Yes. Leave them to the hospital. I'll give Chiu one of the vials and if she goes and slips into, she starts passing out or whatever, just nail her with it and get her back under feet so she can get back. I can drive. I'm trying to say syringe or a vial she has to drink it. I got it. I'm fine. She says go. I got the car started. I'll be in the back checking on Michael Clay and Edgard who is just back from Death's door. Death's door is right. And I'm way better. I want Daniel and the kids and Grace in the back as well. There's actually three rows. So, who's in the mid row? Daniel Grace and myself, but I want to be in the seat that has access to the back row. So on the edge, Daniel Grace and yourself. And in the back, we'll have the kids in between Michael Clay and the people who are bleeding. Yes, Edgard. Okay, there is an explosion in the background that everyone flinches when they hear it. It's the house or something that was there, whether it be propane tanks. I asked the sister why we're not burning. What? Sorry. Why aren't we moving? Oh, we are moving. And if everybody's in the car, we're gonna throw them right away. All right, well, we're based actually towards the homestead. So you need to turn around. It's a tight fit, but with your driving skills, it's not a problem. How do you get lethal damage in your last three boxes? One. Oh, you don't? I got you last three boxes. No, I got this. Wait, wait, wait, I got one, two, three, four lethal damage, and then the rest of bashing. And the last would be seven. Okay, then you don't have any of the boxes hit. So you're fine. Just if you're one of your last three boxes is filled, it's minus one minus two for two boxes, etc. As we're driving away, as we're driving away, I'm triaging the back seat. The kids I'm looking at first, and then I'm going to Michael, and then I'm checking at guard because he's... Mon tastes, if you just want to hear the last one. I like Mon tastes, which one? Or Ed, the two kids, boy and the girl, that were rescued, originally by Daniel. Actually, in the burning... He's a very heroic. He was very heroic. And rescuing of people. Yeah, that's what he does. They both have superficial first-degree burns, maybe some smoke inhalation. Overall, they're just scared, terrified young children. I know the sister, so I understand. Right. I guess you're turning your attention to Edgard at that point? No, Edgard, I slept with one of the potions. You're pretty sure he's stable. So I'm concerned most about Michael Kly at that point. Michael, can you tell us a little bit about how your character's feeling and the vaccines you're being jostled about on this gravel driveway heading towards what can be carefully described as the back road? Now that the adrenaline is wearing off from being shot with a sniper rifle and then bleeding out with those demons. The feeder demons. And then the zombies, and then facing off or helping with the assist to... No, you faced off that you were in the vampire. And helping the kids. So now the kids are safe and now, whatever, I'm probably, if not losing consciousness, I might be even out. Can you tell me about your last three boxes of your health? I think I only had one. You don't know? I was down to one box. I lose the way I know. He lost. I think you had one completely on large. I took a lot of damage. You did take a lot of damage. So I think one of those Kevlar vests, it's a couple of them who died in that particular story. But from if memory serves, I really only have, I think, one box, or I might even have a slash. Would you like me to make a wall as far as medical? We'll say he's minus two. I was minus three. I was minus three to do anything. Yeah, I'm sure you got bashing across everything. And then lethal back beyond that. So he's in bad shape. You've served in Iraq or I've been to Krit. You know what death looks like. Obviously, Edgard was very close. Michael is wounded heavily. He'll need some attention, but he will survive the drive home. Yeah, what I was going to say is we have the vials. They're extremely rare. We don't want to use them unless we have to. So that's what I was trying to ascertain. Do we need to use that? Is he going to make it home? Your best guess is Dr. Lucius is back at the safe house. And there is no reason to believe that Michael won't make the trip. And these things are valuable on several levels. Obviously, to heal people, they're incredibly valuable. But also research. Yeah, for the research aspect of it, you've never seen a potion, an alchemical reagent like this before. Got to work on people who aren't. Yeah, I mean, I have a potion that does virtually the same thing, but only through my faith in God. Right. And this is apparently anyone. So yes, it is extremely valuable. Yeah, don't use it on me. There should be a first aid kit that we can do something with, right? Right. There's absolutely got to be a first aid kit back here. And so he spends, no, I actually have a field kit because I have medicine. In the first five minutes of the trip, you spend helping him manage some of the more egregious and really still open wounds. It helps to lower the blood loss. And he's in in stable condition, recover stuff though, right? Well, I have that. No, I mean, he can make enough rules that it would have actually be successful. So I'm going to go with less dice rolling this particular story if it just makes the story flow. They had those speed amp duels that they can. Oh, exactly. And aesthetic. That's what they're like more. They're set up the same way where you just kind of poke it into somebody and it releases the alchemical. And then they also have the clotting powder that seals the wound at the same time. Right. So that's very popular right now too. I can also heal people up once I get better on my feet over the next few days and help accelerate. Good to know. All right. At this point, Katie, after a couple minutes of driving down the dirt road, because it was a quarter mile, and it is a really, again, it's barely a dirt road. It's really rural. To what I say, it could be called, charitably, a side road or a country lane or whatever. Sorry. Now we're not out of the nasty driveway and onto the nasty dirt road. At this point, it's a little bit more than a dirt road, but it's still quite narrow and winding in this part of Jaga County. And everyone kind of falls into a silence is just the thought of what you were through, you know, what you've been through in the last, what was it? Maybe over there, a half hour. It was just one half hour of bloodshed and fear and death and fire. It was just, it was really an exhausting half hour. But you're on the road, you're heading back towards the safe house and all seems to be well. The glow, you can still, like when you're pulling out onto the, onto the side road, you can see the glow from the, from the farmstead. It is literally on every building is on fire. It just lights up the night sky and maybe several, maybe a mile or two down the side road where you're getting close to getting to a normal size road. You see lights go off. Police lights go off. A cruiser had been parked to the side of the road for what reason, who knows, but he pulls onto the small side road and starts to follow you. He being just a generic term for the vehicle, not necessarily who's inside. So about less than a quarter mile behind you or so, you've got the lights going off and a police car is closing fast. Geez, it's gonna be hard to talk to this guy about what's going on in the car. If I'm not mistaken, we have credentials that were. Oh, win security. Yeah, security, one time use, only an emergency type thing. Yeah. My concern is this guy was waiting for us. So I don't know that he's your typical. You want me to lose him? Yep. Woohoo. I can do that. Wait, what is it? This is a van we're in with. It is a cargo van. I thought everybody holds on. He's a mascot erasing, no, come on. I thought everybody to hold on. She's got this. All right, let's do it. We gotta lose a tail. All right, floor, take off for a road. Okay, you find yourself cursing the fact that you're in a cargo van as opposed to a regular vehicle. Anyone else in the vehicle doing anything besides Jay, who is trying to do some triage in the back of the vehicle and Sister Katie driving the vehicle, is anyone else doing anything, or any import or that they want to vocalize? Well, Grace, what is your character doing? You were carried into the vehicle by Daniel. Are you still clutching on to him or have you let go? I've let go. I've closed into myself though, deep in thought at this point. Hugging your toys? Sure. I'm hugging my toy. Daniel, anything? She left? She didn't leave. I didn't notice. She took a seat next to you and is kind of clutching something close to her. Which, yeah, I just saw Nash's head explode. Yeah, I don't know if I'm totally there. You're being reflected as well. Maybe it's just an escort to the hospital. Right, I don't actually know what those angels do here and where. Nobody told me, so I still have all the wounds marked on my character's seat. It makes you not dead. Good. Why don't you be next to you? Daniel, the one you... Oh, the only one that you really saw down, I mean, she saw you a little bit, but he's seven foot tall. That was a storm cellar. Do you feel that? Remember most of the way the recording was supposed to be? Okay, because I know. I'm just trying to remember. And you actually shot her. Well, just once. You shot her with a candleizer, just to be said. He wasn't a real bullet. But you weren't backing down at that point. He wanted to be on there safely. You were like, "I probably am going to ask at least what the hell do you want with me?" Because I don't know. Who are you asking? Him, since he's the one who came and got me. Okay. Daniel. I don't know what I'm talking about. But I don't know what he's saying yet, so. You might have heard them say things like, "Daniel, because Jay was barking out of orders." I'd probably just turn to him and say, "What do you want from me?" Talking about barking out orders, you're gonna have two dogs in the truck as well. I forgot about this. Jesus. It's a boss. It's a boss, really. It's actually a cargo van. So, it was rented with a huge van. Couldn't blow it all over. Go ahead, Daniel. What do you got? Boss, what do we want her for? I'm a little busy here. Can you handle that? We went there to talk to her dad. The place was under attack. We were saving anyone we can. The house was on fire for crying out loud. We had to get her out of there before she burned to death. Why did you want to talk to my dad? There's a lot going on in the city that we need to know about. What do you think you need to know about? All the things that he was involved with. All the things that he put in motion. All the things? Yes. Show her the journal. The blank one? Maybe she can read it. No, it's not the blank. I'm busy, man. Maybe. And I am busy with you. I'm delirious. Yeah, you might say, "Show her this," and I'll hand it over to Daniel, and I'll say, "She's fucking blank." See if she can see anything. You can write your own future in it. Okay. You're writing in a cargo van. Would you like to do something about bouncing all over the place at about 90 miles an hour? I'm telling you, right now, the cargo van does not go 90 miles an hour, but you're able to get it up to about 65 or so. You're pushing it? Yeah, even down here. It is full with a lot of people, a lot of animals, and it's on a very, very winding road where you can get in straight a way. You might be able to get it up close to 80 with it coughing, wheezing, and really straining the engine, but then there's another turn coming up. It's not a great road for a gridscape. Jake, can you shoot a tire off of that thing behind us? It was just shoot at cops, boss. Yeah. I thought you were supposed to be good at driving. Yeah, fast cars. Real quick, did you get enough out of that conversation for right this second to take, I'm thinking some more about what they're saying. Daniel, did you say you wanted to say something? I've done reading a blank journal and hand it to her if she can make any more sense out of it. I basically just handed you a blank journal. Okay. Oh, okay. It's mysterious. That's nice. What did you want with me? Just be clear. It's a coloring book. Michael Clay did, this journal did have an aura of power about it, right? Oh, yeah. Just sure. It might be a play. No, I mean, that's what you think? That's what you're doing. Everyone else holds it just like, it's so observable. Well, does it have your skills? Is it a trap binder, like, you know, with, like, you know, whatever it is. I think it's, I believe it's awfully clean and neat. Yeah, it's a nice looking leather-bound journal. But it's also from her father's home, right? No, yeah. No, we found a garage of an associate. Of an associate. Never mind. Yeah, but he was an adventurer with it. We came looking for your dad and the military was burning down your house. You couldn't get to him in time. I fell out of second-story window and discovered where you were. You couldn't get to him in time? No, he's dead. He burned with a house. Make a roll. I don't know that I'm manipulating him. You're actually lying to her. I couldn't get to her. My father's not burning them in the building. Holy shot. The building was on fire. Yeah, he shot himself in the head when you were trying to get him out of the building. Well, does that mean a zombie? If any turned into a zombie. If any burned. Wait, if I don't know why you don't watch himself in the head. Well, yeah, fine. I guess I lied. Well, to be fair, Daniel, you would have remembered that. It was just flipping 10 minutes ago. So if you want to tell her the truth, you can. I thought you were lying to her on purpose. No. I tried to rescue him, but as I was trying to jump out the window, he killed himself. I don't even know why. And as everyone was turning to zombies, I had to leave him in the house. But you've heard about zombies. Yeah, I'm saying zombies. We didn't see zombies on the way out. A lot of them gored me. That's why I died. Maybe you saw some of the other farm setters walking kind of chambling a little bit, but I don't think whatever that was going on, she would have known there was zombies. Yeah, she was focused on the spirits. Yeah, let's just be clear here. She knew something supernatural. What's going on? She had that spirit. There's no doubt about that. Okay, zombies, not foodie zombies. Okay, how can I make myself believe that if you're trying to lie to her, she gets a chance to find out, but you're not lying. My father is dead. So why did you leave with me? The building was on fire. Jason to save you. No, we got it. I know you're his daughter. I saw the pictures all over the house. Oh, shit. I forgot about this. Your dad was crazy. All right, you shut up. He's delirious, clearly. You guys are fucking great. You guys are not qualified. I'm not qualified to talk to children. I don't know that you can help at all. I'm not particularly concerned with that. I just saw an opportunity to save someone from the fire. That's not even a lie. So don't make me roll for that. You don't want anything from me. I don't care. I'm just a person that you wanted to save from me by. Yeah, same as those kids. I saved the kids too. You're a pretty important person. So everybody there was asking about you. Okay, you just dry at the fun. If there's anybody in this party that has a worse social skill than him, it's you. Just shut the fuck up. Stop. Stop. Stop for just a second because Chase is going on. And just as this is evolving, this conversation is starting to to roil to a nice percolation and a nice pitch. That's when the sirens go off. You've got a head start because you were obviously ahead of the pursuing police vehicle. Now, the way that a Chase works with vehicles in World of Darkness is that your goal is to escape, obviously. His goal is to catch you. He needs only to match your number of successes in order to catch up to you. That's his job is to catch up to your successes. I'm going to give you five successes to start with because of your head start. So it's not like you're starting off even. You're way ahead of him by the time he gets back out of the road and starts pursuing you. It's dark. It's a pitch black night. There's a lot of places that you could try quite dangerously to stop your vehicle and pull off turn the lights off. So he's got to be aware of a lot of things. So you get a five point head start, five success head start. His goal is just to match your number. So each term he's going to roll and amount of successes he gets. He's going to try to catch up to you. If he does, he catches you. And then your job, Katie, is to beat his, the vehicle that he's driving in, acceleration. The acceleration for his vehicle is 15. So you need 10 successes before he catches up to you with his roles. Fair enough? Yeah, I was reading the rules on the old pursuits. And then Jay, you had a question? No, I just informed shoe. Navigate. Tell them about what's coming up ahead. The thing I didn't like about this whole pursuit thing as far as I don't like it because it's going to suck because it's something along the lines of they get, since I'm in a slower vehicle and he's in a faster vehicle, he gets a plus one bonus for every three points of difference between the mic acceleration and his acceleration. His acceleration, I believe, is a sports car. So it's 15. Is it 15? That's a good. And yours is a boss. Negative 15. It's not a boss, but it's a cargo van is the close thing to think of to a boss. But I'm going to go with minus two instead of minus. I mean, two extra dice. Chews got an iPhone and they've got turn-by-turn navigation, so there's no reason that he can't. You're having two of the mountains I use that turn-by-turn to tell me what was coming up. He also has a camera with infrared sloping on it or a vision on it. So you can see the heat coming off the asphalt is a lot higher than the heat coming off the plants. We're still on a dirt road though. No, it's not dirt. It was dirt in gravel, barely a road. Now it's a small narrow asphalt side road that's very twisty and very winding through the emerald necklace of Cleveland. So what I'm looking for is a dirt road to lose on. Because I figured on a dirt road, if I'm ahead of him, he could be able to see me because of all the crap I'm kicking up and it's dark at night and there's no lights. Sure, so I'm going to try to find that for him on the map app that we have on our phones. Right, slow down, left turn, left curve, whatever you do, make a computer roll on there. No, I'm going to say again, in a case of where I don't really want to bog down in a bunch of die rolls. If we succeed, we'll say we found the dirt road lost him. The first turn, there are no dirt roads, but he's going to give you a plus one to your die pull, excuse me, because of his giving you navigational advice. This is something I absolutely do not want to do, but I am putting my sniper rifle together. If I fire it in this thing, everybody's fucking going deaf. Right. This is not something I want to do, but I can take out the car. This is the back of the window. So I don't know what you're going to do at all, but right, that you're going to be firing in. This is the last resort to shoot through the back window. Can you call Winston Tate's secretary and maybe she can call the law enforcement or call this guy off, or do you think he's not? I don't think he has any cool law enforcement, right? Not much. What's the wonderful handling of my micro mini bus? Your handling is a whopping minus two. That's a minus two? Minus two. Yes. And I'm wounded, so that's minus three. You might have to use that. Holy shit. Shoot. Shoot gives him plus one, correct? Yes. Yeah. He has another plus one, per fucking once. Okay. Thanks. Go ahead. How many dice? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven dice. Oh, this is the part where I say, yes, he's handling for you, and he's giving you all the advice in the world. But yes, also the part where he can risk or use. Yes, absolutely. Your die roll, we're going to subtract three dice for the die roll because of the narrow. You have to get into the wool power before you subtract. I'm changing it to make it a bait ask. Gotcha. Minus three dice due to the narrow twisting nature of the lanes and having to slow down for that and also because of the pitch darkness, that makes it just more difficult. Even with him saying, it's coming up. Well, what is it coming up? You're looking back, you're trying to stay in the road, you're looking for dirt roads. He's looking for dirt roads. There's a lot going on right now. People are screaming. People are talking. So total of minus three dice that takes you from, I'm sorry, seven down to four, right? At this point, if you have any willpower remaining, you may choose to use it. I don't. It was dire times. So that is your, then four is your die pull. So roll away, young Katie. Unless we can still risk talking. Yeah, there's two little kids that can get jostled around the other way. Those lights are gone. These kids are ours. After they do the jakey's pitch, I'll go to the kid boys. After he does his first roll, I'm going to try to distract them somehow. I can risk. You have to have at least one willpower risk. Yeah, this is going to be a long trick drive. Got one success. So you go to five six. You make it from five to six. He rolled three successes. So he goes from six from zero to three, basically having the amount of distance between you in that time. I'm not looking for how many? Fifteen. Yeah, that's what we're going to catch next. I could yield or we shoot them. All right. So as the next rounds, anyone doing anything in regards to the driving or anything in the van that's going to affect the driving or the situation that's transpiring in the van? Do we still have our communications and our gear and sensors to work? I can effortlessly get into that meditative mind statement. Can I try to serve some bands for communications to see if this police officer is calling in? Like our gear is pure military gear. Fantastic. That's a great idea. So I'm going to try to see if I can listen in and I want the bands you might be using. So would that be my computer skill or would that be my investigation skill or? Go ahead and make a, I guess computer is probably the closest to it. There's no luck stat, but I'm going to say keeping your composure not jittering the dial too much with focus kind of moving your fingers across the. I want to take a negative three to do it because I'm right. So I'm going to say no, you have that meditative mind. So you can, well that makes me like, it was just, I can mentally, not physically, I can physically ignore it, but I can't like do fine control like that probably. Can I try to persuade the kids to be quiet while this dude's driving away from the couch from him? You? That's pretty personal. Absolutely. I just happen to be mostly dead. How close is this car compared to what it was? I mean, what? Half the distance in about it. Fuck that. Three seconds. It's a sports ride. I mean, she runs a relatively wealthy suburb of the greater Cleveland area. And the vehicles they have are state of the art. You're driving a box van and this is a, there's no fucking way I'm shooting this sniper rifle in this van. There's a side door. I open it, tell Daniel, hold on to me. And I lean out with my Glock. Boss, boss. First of all, he's in the middle row. I'm in the, and the outside. But you jumped into the back to triage to how to wrap a van. Okay. In our van. Yes. Like most fans. Sure. You've got the two seats in the front, the driver, and the passenger. Yes. In the middle, you have a bench. Yes. But then you've got a gap so that people can get into the back. Yes. I was sitting on the edge of that and turning into that gap so that I could reach into the back seat. Michael Clay was right in front of me, the kids, and then Edgard was on the far driver's side. So I was reaching around doing that. So I'm right next to the door, as I imagined it. Okay. Sure. There's no third row. It's a flat back of the van. It's because it's a cargo van. It's not a SUV or any day. Like a passenger van. This is like something someone would run out to to haul lumber or something from one place to another. So I'm talking about like an eco line. It's an eco line. That's like a bell with you. Sure. Eco lines. Is there a side door? Or is there a back door? There's a sliding side door. Okay. You're not opening back doors as well. Then I'm using the sliding side door. I'm moving back to the middle, opening the sliding side door, taking out my side arm and saying Daniel hold on to me as I lean out because there's no way I'm going to use a sniper rifle hanging outside of a car. Do you want to notice this? I got this. She's driving trying to lose the cops and you're opening the door and hanging out. I'm shooting the cops tires. I want to tell her not to make any shots. I'm going to try to convince the kids to calm down. That's all he's doing. He's making sharp turns. So I got a Sasquatch hanging out to me. I'm good. Okay. That's as stable as you can be. Apparently. I'm going to Sasquatch stable. So how are you? He's holding on to the back of my Kevlar bass. Oh, of course. I got that. What's this doing? Hold on something else. Yeah. What? Seepo? See? Yeah. I just want to know what? That's all. I want to convince the kids to calm down first because you need to be able to concentrate and also not. Kids, be quiet while we shoot at the cops. Right. I'm a very convincing man. And by that, I mean, I'm mostly dead. So I'm going to be rolling her a few dice, but it's worth a try first. Stop screaming. So we can shoot it in the white panel van and ignore the fact that we're shooting at the cap. I'm not the mister of that. I'm pretty sure there. I still have five minutes. Okay. So my taste empathy plus manipulation. Okay. Because you are flat out lying to these kids. Well, then I should be able to use fucking subterfuge or persuasion. Either one or better lies than empathy. But they're kids. You're trying to connect with them, right? Or no, you tell them just to, you know, SDF you. Empathy. I'm using empathy which I'm entrained in. I'm entrained in? Yeah. Which we'd leave just my manipulation, which is four, but it's nice one because I'm entrained. Sure. And then I have three wounds. So I'm rolling zero dice. Three? Is there a chance to die? Yeah. You might actually snap. Did you see these wounds? I should shut up. If I'm doing that, can I roll something else? Because I really don't need to empathize with these kids. I need them to shut up so my boss can shoot the cops and ask people to parent. A new parent, but a parent nonetheless, you start off kids. I want you to understand the situation. It starts off like that. So this is the first thing. And then within three to six seconds, it escalates to shut up. Shut those damn kids up. I'm trying to drive. This seems like a good idea. Come on, give it a shot. You said you're going to give me a shot, man. Just don't roll one. Two. So we shot the door. It's not, you know, it's just, that's all very calmly. I could appreciate if you guys would calm down a bit and then still battle. We need to stop. We need to stop. We need to stop. We need to stop. We need to stop. I need my mommy. I need your people to shut up. So my boss can shoot the cops. That's exactly how that phrase ends. Yes. Our boss shoots the cops. I'm sure that's actually a negative. We should open a daycare together. Yes. You and the sister. He and the knees. Oh man. And Gar and Katie's. I want to try to empathize with the kids. Well now you don't have to anymore. You could use whatever you want next turn to scare to live and shit out of the kids. Since you try the nice approach. Unfortunately, I'm bad. Perhaps you can twist the armor behind little Jimmy and get him a seat or the light of day. Go ahead. I'll just throw out the number of the knife. Do you have fast rock on your block? Yes. Okay. So your block is out of your hand in second flat, but your action for the turn, your instant action as I call it, which I think is a misnomer. I wish they'd change that. Yeah. But your instant action, which does not take place in an instant, is opening the door. Right. As a move action, I will allow you to wait a half second until Sasquatch Daniel firmly has your flat vest. I'm not leaning out until he has a grip. And then if your move action, you lean out and point towards the vehicle. That's a good accomplish. It cannot aim and can't fire this turn. You're coming with that? Sure. Okay. Which takes us back to the driving. Good. He has a camera on the front until he got your face snap. A lot of things since the police sirens went off. It's been about 10 seconds or so since Howard was able to pull onto the road and then the chase began. You're able to get some distance and then the chase began. So each turn, I'm going to roll a 10 sided dice on a whatever number you select Katie. There is a dirt path that you may fry to deviate onto. That's not a drive way. I told her not to make any sharp turns though because Jay's hanging out of the size of his hand. Well, it's a solution to our problem. I'd rather take that. Right. I'd be saying though, we're trying not to be able to take that solution. Well, it's shooting the cops versus disappearing. Yeah. But if we go heads down with disappearing, we take that solution right now, he might end up outside of van. Sasquash got a knife. You can get a trust Daniel Morgan to hold on. It's like the only one who didn't get hit today. He's fine. That's one number I got to pick. It'll be a roll up. You know what y'all. It's one guy. That's zero. Get the roll again. Unfortunately not this turn. So Katie, go ahead and roll your dice. No additional money. She wanted to see zero out of four. Zero. There you go. So no success for Katie. One. Lucky for you, the police officer is not doing much better. That was one success, which takes the chase down from six to three to six to four. So there are now that much closer. Twisting roads gave you some some advantages there Katie as far as keeping the police officer off your tail. Right. But he went ahead and closed the gap some because his car just handles those turns much better than yours. Yes. This is a pencil, right? This is absolutely a rental. Okay. Then the plates don't matter. Right. It's not our vehicle at all. So we're in a stolen vehicle. Great. We didn't steal it. We rented it. We rented it from a a interactive agency. Oh, I'm sorry. I thought we took the Valkyries vehicle. I never mind. Sorry. I would have been like. That was a beautiful Land Rover that you guys left behind. I'm delirious. A. A. I don't know if we're gonna put everyone in. Good answer. You've got pros. Make these kids shadowed for me. I can't do it. All right. So Katie went. That takes us to Edgard. You're gonna try to shut those kids up before. What about me? J takes a shot. I'm probably a little busy. But I could try. I'd say yeah. You were hanging out. They recognize me. You can wrestle them from the. Oh, they search directly. I mean, they're not. They're scared. Well, yeah. I try to act like I've done this every day for my life. Right. And I act calm when I say kids. This is not half as bad as that burning barn you're in. I don't thank you. Don't worry. So you won't get in trouble speed or demons. Yeah. Now half as bad as that. That was a joke. Just kidding kids. You know what? To be honest, Daniel, if you're going to turn towards them and try to really empathize with them and get them calm, you're hanging out. But you might not be able to anticipate a turn as well. There's there's definitely repercussions to doing that. So you're called. Let me try. I could persuade them. I'm tired of listening to him. So I do turn around and address them. Okay. Very calmly and say, we're almost out of the woods. We just need a little bit more quiet so we can get out of here. And the driver demands it. You've been demanding it like crazy ever since you're scared of it. Shut the hell up. I'm trying to drive. I promise you the none will shut up. Just as soon as we're out of here, it's gonna stay quiet a while longer. Okay. So empathy plus manipulation. Those kids are going to get thrown out of this damn car because I'm trying to say composed while I'm holding a guy outside the door. I'm pretty composed here. This is my favorite plan and that's impressive. Fine. I'll give you empathy plus composure. We're off to a bad stir. That's five. That's five dice. The situation they're in probably would require, I have to seem to subtract anything for Edgar because he was down to zero. We'll say two dice a minus because they're scared. Let me put things in perspective here for a moment. Okay. We just came from a place that had fucking zombies, ghosts, killer squads, a guy in a tower with a sniper rifle, a fucking helicopter shooting at us. And the entire place on fire. We got one fucking cop chasing us. In the vampire. Relax. You missed the feeder. And the feeder dude. I got a success. I got a nine. I saw one, a two and a nine. Yay. Now this is a fucking walk in the park. Relax. The bit where we shoot cops. That's the part I like. Familiar at the back seat. So, um, Daniel, you are able to calm the children. They remember you from freshman from the barn and your calm voice and yeah, large, but yet, large, adorable, the meter just just helps them calm down a bit and they are no longer screaming. They're just crying. That's why I didn't approve them. You did it. That's all I can ask for, honestly, stopping things like red game admin. None. Now what you need to do first, not an action at all is going to be just to hang on for dear life is a, I'm going to say it would probably be something along the lines of dexterity plus athletics to maintain your aim. As you're getting jostled about, there's turns, there's screeching of tires, there's shouting, obviously, but in the, in the police car is not just driving a straight line, either. He's, no. I don't want the police car driving in a straight line. So go ahead and tell me what your dice pool would be. My dice pool athletics is three and dexterity is four, so seven. That's a very good dice pool. I would say that the nature of what, I mean, this is a pretty tough shot and it's not just a shot, it's just, it's just hanging out and trying to stay stable. So minus three maybe for that? Okay. I'm trying to hit the tire on the passenger side. So I'm actually looking for him to be swinging in and out because I need an angle. This is, this is just steadying it. I got that to get the shot off. Because I might not, I can say also that the car just never really gets in a position. Potentially, if you miss on this roll. So you got four dice? Yeah. Okay. Nope. Well, why don't you, nothing. Okay. So in this particular instance, critical phase from, no, shoot a cop. Six, seven. You, you, you just couldn't get the angle. I mean, you, you couldn't get the shot. You wanted the police officer's life was way too much in danger with where he was at. Yeah. The one time he flashed in a view, it was when she was turning and your gun moved up a little bit right to where it would be the windshield and it just didn't make any sense. No, no, I'm hitting a tire. I'm not hitting a guy. Right. Okay. Okay. Katie, this is on big top, shoot them. Um, let's go. One die 10. If you want to look for a side rope coming up, pick your number, roll your die. Well, it's the same number. Eight. Eight. Eight. Eight. Eight. I guess you pick zero. Apparently. Two zero zero. Nice. So go ahead and make your roll at six successes to three. You need to get to 15. One more die because the speed of the kids on the screen right now. Yeah. Sure. One more die because the kids aren't screaming now. See what you're doing? Yeah. Nice. Everybody's quiet. Two successes. Six successes. So it was here from six to eight. He went from four to eight. So at this point, Katie, I'm going to give you the option is caught up, of course, that's right when the straight away appears. You're like, fuck. And he pulls right up on your driver's side quarter panel in the back. And you know from a lifetime of racing that one little move to the right of his steering wheel. And you are going into a spin that you will not be able to recover from any box, econ-aligned van. I go, hey, kids, look, a cop behind the phone. Stick your heads up to the window and you host the kids in the window and won't want to rock us. That's speaking with her lack of any kind of empathy whatsoever. That works. Just hold the kid up to the window. Wait until the cop is waiting from the cop behind us, kids. I thought I was a bad way, kid. Yeah. Actually, I think if my breaking point just got triggered. I think I rolled a loose integrity. That was one of your breaking points. Torture a child is actually one of my, what are your points? That's awesome. What perhaps or you would say would be no kids, no, stay down or something like that in response to what she's saying because they're not prone to want to listen to her. She's been swearing at them for the last 30 seconds and she beat them with a roar in the field. She scares me. And I'm a veteran. It's a non-joke. It's a non-joke. She's very bad at empathy in the kids. She terrified them in the field. Yes. So it kind of fits her completely in character. Yeah. Your choice is to slow down and put on your hazard. And some way indicate to the police officer that you are stopping or you can continue and hope that he chooses not to. Your call, I want to get an action. Your call back to the children was not responding. I'm not going to do your role. The children, I'm sorry. It knows about your revelation. They don't like you. They're frightened of you and they will not listen to you. They'd rather listen to anyone in this van. And the person who just told them what to do was Daniel who did it quite, for them at least quite convincingly. So they're going to stay down and say, I mean, I don't even want to put a dice roll to that because it's just, it's not going to happen. But you have a choice and to continue and see if he actually does try to spin you out or to pull off to the side or to ram him or, I mean, endless possibilities. Really three. Slam on the brakes. He's not behind you. He's on your right corner panel. And if he dips into your right corner panel, you are spinning and probably at this speed, maybe even crashing with as possible that the cop might have seen your J pointing a weapon at him. Oh, possible. Yes. Absolutely likely. It happened to be a very cloudy night, if you remember from the previous story. So you're in the Emerald necklace. So it's a lot of high trees around you, winding pathway, only his headlights. So maybe, but he's also trying to keep it on the road. And it's very probable to think he might not have saw J, but he very well may have as well. Impossible. And you know that J is also hanging out the window. I mean, the door, the sliding door as well. So that may or may not affect your seat. Is J hang a sing lane and the door on the other side? J on the opposite side. Unfortunately, it was on passenger side. Yeah. Can I try to force him off the road? You can try. It's going to have some major disadvantages, because right now, it's almost as if this was a World War one dogfight. And the right Baron is right behind you and has you in his sights. And yeah, you could try to trick him and do something. But there's only so many options you have in this particular situation. He's got position. You don't. He's got maneuverability. You don't. He's got speed and braking. You don't. You're going through the checklist in your head. And every single thing that I could possibly have a bench, what do I have? I have pure weight on my side. That's what I have. And if I use it too aggressively, though, I'm being dangerous people who are on the cusp of, in case, in some cases, even your own, the cusp of death. I mean, one bad accident and a couple lethal damage. And you guys might not recover. So these are all things they're going through your mind as you're thinking about what you're going to do. I'm going to slow down hoping that dirt road is going to come up and while they slow down. Okay. Sure. Wouldn't the chances of a dirt road increase as you don't see one? You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Actually, the one that you've got to raise enough makes sense. Sure. I'll give him a second number just because once you're in downtown Cleveland, it's not worked all that well. Yeah. It's one guy who doesn't have a chance. Yeah, but I want to kill him. I don't need it. If I can hit his tire, he's not going to be able to follow it. There was a situation a little while back where your character told her what I think I didn't hear it. But every way she described to me was a lie, which is when she asked why did you rescue me? You said you were just a random person in the building and me. Oh, that's what she said. That's what she thought you said. That sounds to me like you said you were in danger, you were a person that I wanted to say. That's why I rescued you. So it seemed like it was because you know that she's Danny's daughter. So it's a viable mission? I know. I told her I knew that she was Danny's daughter. I said I knew you were her daughter, but I don't. You're always the fact that I guess what I'm trying to get at is you know that she might be important and you didn't tell her that. And I just want to know if she if she picked up on that, that's all okay. Was that fair enough? So it would be for you. It was just a little white line. What would you give me for your dice poll, do you think? What do you think should be? Okay, I didn't think I was lying. Because I was just saying I knew who you were. I was saving people at that point. I heard it and it sounded like a misunderstanding. I mean, because I could have her it got to the same conclusion that she did, but I don't think it was intentional. So I don't know if that matters. I don't know that she she has she's has a really good ability to detect loss. When people are lying to her, she knows. So maybe he's not leaving something out. That's a viable mission. She would be able to tell. He can consciously make this lie if it is even that's what I'm asking. First of all, we we haven't played for a year and a half. This happened two seconds ago. Yes. She asked why I was there. I said I was trying to save your father when he died and I jumped out the window. I found out where you were hidden. I knew you were his daughter and the building was on fire. I chose to save you. Is what I meant to say. I was wondering if that was alive was accident. Right. I think you can roll with that. Yeah. At this point. Okay. Yeah. I don't think it was a lie. He was trying to miss I thought he was trying to miss the leader with what he gave her a role and that would determine how much she trusts you guys. So it's kind of an important thing to know if if you're getting her lies of a mission on purpose now by mistake, then we need to know about it because that's going to be how she reacts to you guys. I don't know what part of are you questioning as a lie. Oh, if you said why don't you're like essentially kidnapping me because she's because you want to use me as a person. You know, there are 10 for no our intent to go here all along. I'm just saying you're going to drop me off on the sides of road somewhere and be done with me. We don't know she existed. Yeah, but you do know. Well, yeah, but that's not why we came here. That's not but that's but but if she's asking why you're keeping me, she said why do why you take me? Why are you keeping me with you? Right. Is what she asked. And if you guys are saying because if you're not telling her that she's the key or you think she she might be important to what you're investigating. Okay. Yeah, that's why we're keeping her is she was in a farmstead full of zombies fucking ghost. I know place was on fire and attack helicopter and the other we kept her from the other guy because he was a fucking vampire who wasn't supposed to be there and apparently not at all your motive. No, but I'm saying I don't think anything you said was even close to a lie. Yes, but we've got that. We need to determine that. She needs to know whether she can trust you guys or not. It obviously wasn't the full story. So maybe she wants to ask more questions. Then she also said talk to that guy. He's in charge. Right. Good job. Okay. That's a good thing to say. Yes. Well, no, it's actually Daniels. Pretty good at talking. He can he can find it. And so does Jay. I think he's half what he said. Chew is lights out. Okay. So I just wanted to revisit that and see if it was a lie of omission on purpose or whether it was just accidental accidental sign. There's nothing wrong with that. What's going on with the trying to pick up on the radio signal? Yeah, thank you. I was going to write. You can go ahead and make a role on that. What's the goal is going to be computer and we're going to go with composure. Computer and composure. Okay. That's I have five dice minus. You're using a mental stat. No, that's not. I would say plus equipment. Computer's metal. Composer's not. Well, yeah. Would I do anything for our gear? No. Okay. But I'm not going to give you minus three. Should I give you my three? Okay. Oh, there's one of two successes with one 110. 110 again. You get to roll one. That's right. So two successes. Well, that's excellent. You found several channels. The truck driver somewhere way far away. And then sure enough, you come across what sounds absolutely on target, on point. It's a police officer. A male seems to have a bit of a country draw. But I would say at a higher agitated state and he's talking to someone else. A country draw in sugar, right? Yeah. Okay. Drug accounting. Yeah, absolutely. Oh, it's a little bit of a draw. And he's talking to someone like maybe dispatch saying what the route he's driving. Suspicious white van. I need someone to someone to cut off coming up. I'm closing in. I need backup. And this sounds like a routine patrolman's chat or not. Someone else that is. I would say it sounds like someone who's actually not thinking this is routine at all. It sounds somebody at a very agitated state and is very. No, but I think he's saying that someone undercover work for the bad guys. This is just a cop. And so, and that's why I want to I sure your initial inclinations. Does it sound like a dispatcher saying, okay, yes. Yeah, there's a dispatch in the background. I tell Jay, I go Jay, this is a vanilla cop, not a black cop. I think the one is zero. And eight. No, side road at all. So you said you're slowing down and pulling over. I said slowing down and says pulling over. I'm slowing down and hoping to make it. No, I'm going to pull over because it'll make it easier to shoot us tires. I'll say in the three second time that you need to decelerate, you are not pulled over, but there's no shoulder at all on this road. But is he passing? No, he's staying right exactly where he was. I'm pulling over on the side of the road. He's matching her deceleration with his deceleration. He's staying right on the quarter panel. And he's staying right where he's at. I'm trying to turn the car to angle it. And you actually hear over the loud speaker on top of the vehicle, a typical police statement of pull over the side of the road. I want to see the shoulder hands. That's it. Keep slowing down. That's that turn. Jay, I think you still get the app down this turn. Host lower. Okay, decelerated from 80, probably down to about 50, because it was just right away. So you're still going pretty quick. I don't have a shot. You don't have a shot. By the way, so technically, you shoot with glass. Side of the, yeah, underneath. That's not going to happen. You're the guest. I'm not going to play this out. I'm telling him to slow to a stop. And when he slows, when she slows enough, I just spat Daniel's hand. So let me go. I jump out and say, go. And I cluck the guys tires as they take off again. And then I'm heading off into the woods. As soon as I see him bail, I'm kicking it. I'm like, meet you back at the safe house. Go. I'm the radio. I hear shots fired, shots fired. And it's the perfect spot. Do you have an A relic? I have another one. Okay. Two nasty looking switches over here, but I'm not going to be the first. And a knife relic. Anyway, my point is that- I still don't know what the A relic really does, so maybe- We picked up some other ones. Heal my wounds for a price, or for- I can't remember which one will you keep. I know if you want for sure, because you let me keep. Because I'm a founding member, sir. He don't let me do anything. I would have given it to Jay, if it was- Oh, okay. I defer to Jay. Right. Would've said he has to clean his printer head. Is this your eagle-headed euphemism? The dog-racing, mascot-racing, ninja nun. When you find time to creep, Elk? Oh, it makes sense. Her bra? You better pray to Jay, that's what I'm saying. I swear to God, it's like her bra. Yeah, her bra. Her bra from any side. One, two, two. So nice, people have their breaking points done. How's it going there, Q? Getting there. For breaking points, Q just wrote down episode titles. Right. Yeah, because he's done. Or just my dad. My dad. This is going to be confusing at all. I think I'm the name my character, Mike. Right. My character, Michael. And Michael. I'm not going to be using an Michael who's Mike. Oh, wait, I just want to ask. Do we call all magic voodoo? That's a racist comment. You do. Pissing off our Haitian. For your Haitian? Yeah, I'm on. We can't make it, sir. You just, I was just running the head. That's the rest. Dude, I'm a real expert, all right? So I'm authorized to use that word. I use it for the academic sense, not a majority. I'm just making sure you understand. Is it? Yeah. Ooh, stupid. See? Respectable. I'm saying no. If we work all the way. Everyone thinks it is. No. People are off to a great start. They don't. I'm off. Do you guys ever like that? Yeah. I mean, they have to-- So you're going to do it. Do it. Chew, you take shotgun. Because literally you have a shotgun. I do. Yes. So there you go. That's a good plan, James. I'm the-- Thank you. I'm the closest thing we have to a medic. So-- And slips into dark. Dark, darker. Yeah, it's like darker in. Dark, darker. Okay. If you want, I can take the little wave where I say I'm mostly concerned about Michael Clay right now. And we give it to you, Jessica. I was looking for the record. Okay. I don't know if you heard earlier but John said, "Maybe you should use your middle name." I did. That's funny. Yeah. It's Thomas, which he's Tom. I'm not using that information yet. Thank you. For that, doesn't make it any more unique. That's more of my choice. Oh. Here's an empathy is zero. Yeah. Empathy isn't a thing here, Paul. There's a squat. Oh, it's a skill. Zero. I've had a bad day, okay. You can father's dad. He's a zombie. He's on fire. Yeah. Then we turn the clock. And he shot himself in the head. And I took his rifle. He's in his eye. You're getting on his body. He's on fire. How's your day? That's terrible, all right. Your social area is kind of like there. Are you social skill? Are you social skill? I don't know. Intimidation? Animal can. I don't know what you want to know. Don't tell me like the sister. You got animal can. You're only a social security. What do you want with them? You said you came from my father. Don't dog him. I don't know what this car looks like. You all described it, but I didn't listen. Empathy. Well, I'm not afraid of this guy with me. That's my other character. So you've insulted Grace. Let's see how you do with little shot of himself. Turned into a zombie. That was fast, don't worry. Then we peed on him to put him out. I didn't even insult you. I insulted your father. He was insane. It's getting better. Yeah. Every so. Or girl. Or cop. He's a guy. The cop whoever. Nah, he's a guy. I keep singing. When you got 12 dice and you're kicked down to it, four, it's pretty depressing. You can send him home or tell his friends. There we go. That's what I'm looking for. You could be this cop. I had that option. Wait a minute, are you? Not that desperate to play a cop. Sing it through the recording, was that? This is a whole evening. It's Nolan Wood. Good boy. Anything else you got going on this turn? No, I reported it to him. That was really nice. Farm Bill. He goes because it's not a farm bill. Is it not a farm bill? Is it not a farm? Are you not? Are you farming? Is it or is it not a farm? I don't know, I'm looking at the time. I was just thinking. Oh boy, there's Mr. Button. Nice. It's just Button Bush. Nice. I'm looking. What? I'm not that savvy, guys. I can't lie. Oh, wow. You couldn't even say something like a sentence. It's not a farm bill. It's heyday. It's a whole different day. It's a whole different day. Yeah, but you guys, that's all very valid. Right. Very valid. But you did have the thing. Pump security. Homeland security. We tried to blow off your way through, which is what I thought you guys would do. I thought you would take blow off as opposed to car chase. Jay's virtue is selfless. Right, fairies. Yeah, absolutely. Well, it's one of it. Yeah, I was just saying. You give Katie the choice between them. Selfless. Trying to lose her, please. Do you want to come up, Ken? Is that this one? Yeah. It's a good one. Yes. That's why you want it. I don't.
