KotN Actual Play Podcast - 173 DFRPG - Lost Warden
(upbeat music) - Hello, and welcome to nights in the night actual play podcast. This Dresden Files story, rituals, was written and run by our GM top. And now please enjoy episode 173 titled Lost Warden. Actual play begins two minutes, 51 seconds. (upbeat music) - Hi everyone, before we get into the actual episode game, we'll just take a moment to talk about it a little bit. Not necessarily feedback, but just information. We're not having feedback this week because it's a holiday and we didn't really gather it together as a gaming group. Although we do this as a family. First and foremost, I wanna thank everyone who is still using the Amazon link that helps us pay for the podcast every month. That could be found at kotnpodcast.com. Our website, it's on the right hand side. The other thing I wanna do, it was spend a little time talking about the QCC Kickstarter. It's for the Queen City Conquest. It is a convention that is in September, starting on September 19th and going to the 21st. It's put together by the Miss Directed Mark podcast. The QCC is in its third year now. It is primarily a board game convention, although there are all kind of gaming role-playing video games. They're also looking to add some miniature wargaming events that are something beyond a demo this year. They have an Artemis station. They have local video game store manager that has selected video games that will be played on various consoles. And they have a huge open library with a couple hundred board games. I plan on attending it myself. If the Kickstarter goes through, the $30 level will get you a ticket to the event. And so far, it's going pretty decently, but they definitely do need your support. I can't make any promises, but if you do show up there and look me up, I will definitely sit down and play a board game with you. And if we can talk Chris into running a fate game for us. He's a huge fate system fan. Maybe one of the evenings after the convention winds down a little bit. He's done it in the past other conventions. I've sat with him and played great GM, lot of fun, and I'd love to play with you guys. So if you could make it to the QCC, the Queen City Conquest, it's a convention in Buffalo, New York, starting September 19th, going through the 21st. Check out the Kickstarter and come join us and have some fun. And now we're gonna get on to the episode. Let's begin the adventure. My name is Tom. I'm your GM tonight for this Dresden Files Game Ritual. The players here tonight, starting on my left arm. Tom playing Roberto Martinez, people starting and powered by a phone engine. Thomas playing Maxwell Edison, undercover homelands security after them. Bob playing Stephen Tillman, recorder and photographer, who would do anything in business delivery. Scott playing London Deals, a moral seer to the supernatural powers. - Jim playing Edmond Shadowski, a rich businessman in Black Court powered cyan. Michael playing Repa Pierce, an anthropogenic organic alchemist. - Okay, and tonight we're missing two people, Rachel, our Romanian gypsy tarot reader. - Yes, and Mike, our warden. Okay, where we left off last time was kind of in mid battle. So we're not gonna do a refresh on the fake points. Although we will give Bob's character a fake point because I believe you have an aspect about being in the middle of the shit. Trouble always finds me. So for the trouble finding you, you get a fake point. So whatever your fifth point total is, Ed, one to that. Where we left off is we had the warden in a trance, which he already is, and we'll just leave him there. There is something going on story wise with that, and you guys are gonna have to deal with that. And it's probably where the focus is gonna be right now, because you just under one in attack, there was a demon on the outside, the warden in a trance, and the demon was getting the better part of most of you when Zelda drove it away. - Do they understand that Zelda drove it away? - No, they just know that the sun came out in like a godly beam of light. - I mean, it didn't show down. - When we were in us folks in the alley, what did we see when the demon ran away? - What you saw was that the cloudy day broke up and that the whole area got brighter with sun. But in particular, it seemed like it went on him and to the point where he was cringing and he ran away. - Was it like shining in the alley where it really shouldn't be at that angle of the day or something? - Yeah. - Kinda? - Yeah, it was definitely conspicuous. It's brightness and intensity. And the fact is, do you really shouldn't be bothered by life, but there was something about this that disturbed him. - And the only person who saw her do anything was, then London. - You took the tarot card, she pulled one out and stared at it and seemed to be very, very intense. - Nothing happened there, I thought. 'Cause I think from London's perspective-- - You assume maybe that you were doing something-- - She tried to wake him up. The warden and nothing happened, but I guess maybe there was a coincide 'cause there's windows on this restaurant. - Maybe I'm gonna saw something like-- - The sunlight came out, but I don't know if London can draw that conclusion either. So what I'm trying to say is I don't know if anyone-- - Anybody can put the two and two together. - Could do it together. - This is the only one who knows that she is capable of that sort of thing. - 'Cause there is history. - Directly witnessing it at the time. - Right. We kinda hurried, and it actually turns out it was a good thing because Rachel, unfortunately, isn't here tonight, so her character, Zelda is not able to participate, but she did a reading to determine how to handle the situation with the warden. And I have that information here with me, so what we're gonna do is just have everybody kinda act as her and as themselves at the same time to try to interpret a course of action on how to help the warden in his current state. The first card she drew, which was the present, and the general theme, was the reverse magician. And his normal interpretation tend to be that it is a wizard of power, mental illness, and potentially disgrace. In addition to interpreting them as the normal standard reading would be, I might have included them strictly for some aspect of the picture, because that's the way Terrell cards work. The interpretation is usually based on the picture, not necessarily of the actual card itself. - So the person reading the card can see something in the card and pull something from it. - Right, this little figure way in the background represents something that's relevant to whatever they're giving a reading for. Not the normal interpretation, but this instead. The second card is past influence that still have an effect and it is strength also reversed. - So the opposite of strength? - Well, you would think. The interpretation is abuse of power, weakness, discord, or despotism. Those are interpretations that can be given to that card. And again, that's the past that still have an effect now on the present situation. - Can I ask more question? - The question asked is how can I help? What is affecting the warden? How can I help hear the warden? What's going on with the warden? It was that type of one. - Well, it was that type of reading that she was giving a reading on the situation with the warden. It's not like a wish in which you have to get the words exactly correct. It's much bigger than that. - It's kind of like I'm concerned about the warden. - What's going on? - What again? - The first card goes in the middle and this is across. - Yes, it's across. - The second one's. - And the second one goes to the left and then the third one goes to the right. - So three, being the right side or the east part of the compass, that is the 10 of wands. Not staffs, but wands. - Where are they differently? - It is not reversed, it's the 10 of wands. It represents the future. That's the third position. And its interpretation is normally oppression or much work and the outcome is unclear, but it's based on the fourth card drawn. - The fifth one is the two of cups. - It's reversed. - And it is also reversed, you are correct. Somebody took notes for Mike who wasn't here. - I took notes. - Rachel took his incredible notes. The two of cups influences the 10 of wands. So it influences the future and it is the reason. And the reason for this is being the two of cups reversed is folly, misunderstanding, false love or friendship. So the oppression and much work and the possible outcome of that work is influenced by misunderstanding false friendship or folly. - False. - The fifth is the final card and it's put in the northern position, the final point of the compass. It is the potential of the situation and it is the devil. Violence, ravage, extraordinary efforts, possible fatality. So as Rachel is not here as a character, I think it's probably falls onto all of you and to fill in as Zelda and yourself having a discussion on what the fuck are we gonna do about the warden? - Okay, so the present theme of a wizard of power, mental illness or disgrace, are we gonna assume that we're talking about the warden? We're talking about the warden here. - I think that's our first assumption. - Given our question, I think that's the case. - Or possibly the person attacking him. - Well, the attention was what? - Yeah, the question in general was what can we do about the warden or something like that? - Does anyone believe that the pictures on this particular card hold any deeper meaning, or your character looks? - I'm going into the London voice now, so yes, I guess I'm in character. - I'm not seeing anything in this particular picture that jumps out at me. - Looks like a ritual. - It does look like a ritual. Wizard of power could be someone above the warden, perhaps someone from the white council. - Did any of you have any close contact with the warden in the three months since we last gathered as a group? - Perverto scoffs. - Right, same here. - No. - Okay, so we don't know if he produced some sort of ritual or had a visit from the white council about his activities. We don't know anything about that, correct? Everyone here is clueless as to what happened with the warden in the intervening three months. - I finally know him. - Fair enough. - If I had to guess, I'd say he probably met with the representative of the council once. I mean, as an envoy of their power, he did a bunch of shit that was kind of questionable. - What was the set to do with anything? If they're doing this to him, they're breaking the laws. - I was letting you believe they don't do that. - Only because there looks like somebody who is of good nature, so thinking about on the positive side of things as opposed to like an evil wizard who seems to be performing some sort of ritual. - He calls those, what do you call those? - Sorcerer's, no. - I'm not saying this is a sorcerer. There's a bunch of flowers around. It looks like a dandy little celebration. I'm just not getting an evil vibe from that. Does anyone else getting an evil vibe from that? - It's upside down. - There's a sword. I know it's upside down. - Well, that's supposed to reverse it, right? So there's flowers you can imagine being hell-fired. - The, no. It doesn't inverse, I don't think it inverses-- - It reverses the interpretation. - It inverses the interpretation, which is a wizard of power. - The rental power is-- - The rental power is-- - Or disgrace. - If I may, I would like to reintroduce some things that happened last week to keep them fresh in your mind that Zelda also gave you additional information on some of the past people that were killed with rituals, specifically because the actions of the warden were familiar to her. And it turns out that they were actions similar to something she had seen done by a parent, that member, who then, it turns out, was also-- - I didn't hear that. - A victim of the-- - Right. - One of the rituals. I remember that. - It's relevant only in the sense that his actions are, seem to be the same. - The same as that person did when they used a power of their-- - Tara Spencer, the one who lost the eye. - Right. - Is this something wizards can do? - I look to our wizards, so shit. - He's in a trance. - Yes, we don't know. - There is a lore role. I mean, you don't have to be a wizard of no information about magic. - Sure enough. - Before we-- - I'd be assuming we're all sitting around in the restaurant while we're at this. - Before we get into just sitting around and looking at this, as far as the aftermath goes in the alley, my idea was to take one of the garbage cans, or the large metal trash containers in the alley and push it up against the wall where the hole is. - And then when the cops come, explain to them that somebody hit the trash can, pushed it into the wall. - So you're saying one of those dumpsters that the big sockers with two giant flaps in the lava type thing? - Yeah, conveniently put the corner of the hole in there. Punch it, maybe once or twice, and put a little dent in the side, and say, "Car hit it and took off." - You would just say-- - This is an alley in between the two buildings. Are you saying that the alley's big enough for a car to fit down there, and that's what you're just gonna try to engage it is? Okay. - 'Cause your insurance doesn't cover-- - Team in the text. - Team in the text. - And then I was gonna try to, unless Roberto needed immediate attention to a hospital. - You weren't bringing it up. - I was gonna tell everybody to go down into the underground. - So you carry the warden down there in his current-- - Get the people upstairs, explain things to the people upstairs, and tell them here, tell the cops this, and we're gonna go downstairs, and they haven't-- - Just before we-- - And you arrange your warden on a cat or something, so he's at least a little bit comfortable. - Yeah, we drag him down by his feet. - Don't, don't, don't, yeah. - Before we mess with the crime scene, which I'm pretty sure is a felony, I'd like to check it out to see if he left anything behind, but we can handle that after we do the interpretation. - Well, that's a, that's a thing that you, they're moving him to the downstairs. You're checking the demon site or the table, or both. - The table with the warden? - Yeah, I mean, I don't know what you're checking out. - I wanted to check the alley out to see if he left behind any skin scrapings, blood, anything that we could use. - For samples. - Okay, yeah, or-- - I wouldn't call this a crime scene. I don't think there's any crime, it's taking place. - This is some pretty nature. - Well, I thought it was a crime. - Property damage, vandalism, yes. - But stuff for that-- - Hey, what do you have? - Yeah, it's solved, nothing perfectly horrible. - Demon who was casually walking down an alley got jumped by a crazy man with an axe is what happened. - That did, huh? - We have a demon out there. - And then he defended himself and then ran away. - Solve this problem with the warden and get going? - You sound like someone who's trying to get-- - I'll make the-- - Call it a doodle ground's okay then you're building. (laughing) - They're all checking different things. I'm checking the wine list while they're all busy and I pick a good bottle to-- - Yeah, I'll talk to the owner here. - I don't really. - I'll throw a 20 in. - Bro, I see, you're just checking behind the-- - Exactly, I'll hang it down. - There's probably not a whole lot of people in the general restaurant right now and we threw the clothes sign up and left the door. - Sure, after the huge-- - Yeah, exes-- - So you take the word downstairs, everybody said you'd bring a bottle of fine wine. - Exactly, good play out some glasses and I think we're going to-- - You know what is actually correct here is we need to focus on getting the warden quickly back into shape because there is a demon out there and not only a demon but based on your descriptions of what happened in that alley, a demon of such power that we would be almost helpless against it. So I think we all need to rein in our crime scene stuff and everything else and we need to fix the warden in the sense that this, if it comes back, there's not much we can do. - Right, with two punches I would have killed a human and seriously knocked out most of the underworld there's in the area here and it hardly flanges. - Right, would he even help us against the demon? - Do his wizards care? - He cares about more than when he's in danger. - Or as much as it pains me to say, he does actually have some sort of conscience and I think that he would be very useful in this. He, first of all, he has great magic ability from what I have witnessed. And second of all, he's got that sword which looks like it'd be uncomfortable to wield but he does it well and I'm sure he would be fine but it's not a major demon for us being needed to. - You're arguing the case that's the exact opposite of what we witnessed. He is completely useless right now. - All right now. - Right now, that's why we should get into the coincidence that he's completely useless right now and this demon appeared at the same moment. - No, I doubt that's a coincidence at all. I think it's actually the link. - So his usefulness and this particular-- - Having learned from that situation we can learn what happened to him and perhaps-- - I just want to argue with what's saying to you. - If you think he's going to help, I'll try. But yeah, he's worth saving, Roberto. He's worth saving. - He's ready to raise the phone. - And human being is worth saving. It was one that I mean, wow. - Just dump him in a dumpster, right? We could turn him over to the White Council and they could take a problem for us. They would see to their own well enough. - How are we going to counsel, how are we going to contact the White Council? - Contact to help him. - Something's going on inside his head right now and he could be jelly. - We're all relatively talented individual in our individual spheres of influence. Let's put our heads together and fix him. - All right, Jim, it's character Edmund, arranged the outside as that was his priority to make sure his business is fine. The rest of you take the warden in his vegetative state downstairs, except for London who grabs a fine bottle. It's actually more than 20, so I mean, I'm sure you cover the right amount. - I do cover because I've been paid well for this particular job so far. - Then you join them downstairs after trying to convince the rest. However, Maxwell, being a detective, knows full well in his mind that there might be something very valuable out there for information. If you're going up against a demon, any information challenges I know of. I've never seen him be talented. - He's talking about magic. - No, so he can go out in the alley and pick up toothpicks and scrape. - He wasn't who you were talking to. - Exactly, I'm talking to the actual people who are valuable to this investigation. He doesn't hear any of that, but that's his shit. But London's mind, he's just a normal, and yeah, go ahead and scrape up some goo. - He's just a cop. - Get back to us. - Steven, what did you take on this entire situation? Are you? - I'm just taking photos of you. - You're intrigued because you're a reporter, and this is definitely right down your alley. Are you trying to-- - I'm just starting to hear it from writing things down. - This is believable. - Yeah, you're just trying to meld in so that they don't notice you and kick you out, type of thing. - Exactly, I'm not sure what my role is going to be here at this point. I'm just trying to get it aggressive. - Yeah, haven't yet introduced your usefulness as your camera and some of its abilities. You've only let London know that you had some information on Robert's father, but you're still hanging out. Okay, I would like an investigation role in the alley from Maxwell. I'm sorry, go ahead. - Roberto talks to his demon. - I asked the demon if there's any way he communicates with me that I could communicate through him to the wizard. - The demon informs you that he is bound only to you, and then he can I communicate? - Reppa has access to certain medications that can put his mind into a state where he might be able to enter into someone else's mind. We also have some of those chemicals and ingredients actually in the kitchen and the basement. - I don't even think that I'm going to require a fake point for that. You would have those. And if you don't, Reppa certainly would in his lab. - Or in my backpack. - In the gym or potentially in your backpack? - I'm sure with the gypsy's help and with London's help too, something can be done along with Reppa to get into his head somehow. - Is he going to cut off your head when he becomes conscious? Is this against the rules as far as you're not? - Oh, that's the, there's the rules. The wizard has a whole bunch of rules. - I don't know what they all are. - They seem rather silly to be. - But he comes off heads when they disobey. - To be fair, it's not the wizard who has a bunch of rules. It's the counsel of him that enforces those rules. - You're not allowed to mind controlling them too. - Pretty sure you're allowed to go in and save somebody's mind if it's being taken over or mind controlled by somebody else. - Reppa wouldn't give a shit either way. - Yeah. - Would have to consider it. - If you have a shit on the ward and I don't know. - You should. - The ward and make all thanks for not just saying. - I just need to understand what's behind you. - It's the third law of magic and I'm very familiar with it and you don't want to cross that line if you could possibly avoid it because it will cause you to be hunted down by more than just the ward. - What is the law? - All wardens and all trains, magicians. - What is the law on the magic users? - Let's take a quick break here. Maxwell is out in the alleyway and I would like him to make a role for me in which he's doing a. - That's the best question. - I'm actually gonna head out with him. I have to pick up some gear out from my car. - Okay. - So I'm probably gonna be out there. - Come on. - Let me get the hand goes. - Yeah, you got it. - London hasn't forgotten the fact that Steve is here. The reason he hasn't mentioned that Steve should leave or what are you doing here or question him is because London believes that someone who has the ability to put information out into the internet and then to all the ears and listeners that will be affected by that is actually a good thing. If we need to get in hold of the white council, none of us know how to fuck to get in hold of the white council. However, there's a blog that mentions in some certain words - Dude at white council. - Right. - It's that simple. - 'Cause they use Twitter. - Right. So anyways, he might be able to get us in contact or might be able to get word out to people who would be able to get in contact with the white council. So I think he can be of value at this point. - Okay, that's fine. - Oh, if you say really loud things about breaking a law it's probably gonna stick down the door. - Maxwell? - Yeah. - Maxwell, I would like you to do a investigation role. You need to get at least a good to get some valuable information. The better the role, the more information you're gonna get. - Does this count as a crime scene? - Yeah. - It was a scene of an assault, that's a crime, so. - Sure. - Assault by Ricardo. - Boy, yeah. (laughs) - My investigation for crime scenes is superb. - Okay. - So I'll roll. - Can I assist him at all? - Can I assist him at all? I just wasn't outside to witness the attack. - You're a fresh set of eyes. - Yeah. - So to be of assist to him would also require a good effort. Any skill that you can convince me is useful. I would assume an investigation being one of them, but it might be something else. - Tab alertness. - Well, whatever's higher, is alertness higher than an investigation? - Yes. - You have a stunt that does what? - Um, supplies to alertness, corner of my eye. - When successfully rolling alertness passively to pick up on details, gain an additional two shifts. - Okay. - That seems pretty spot on for this particular straightforward, this. - Usage. - Well, then you go first. You would take your alertness and then you would roll the fake dice and give me a total. - All right, it is superb, then. - Leave the two shifts. - There's a whole bag of dice. - Sorry, I'm going to wait for it. (clicking) - Oh, my bogus. - I need that two shifts because I'm probably back down to good. - Good is just a target, which means you succeed in giving him a plus two. If you had rolled higher, you might be able to put more of a spin and did more helpful, but in this case, it's high enough for you to give him a plus two to his roll. - Okay, that's great. - So you're pointing out this, that, and the other, for him to focus on, and he's looking at the kind scene and he's got his investigation plus two and your roll. - Plus, that's good, because I rolled a minus one. So a grand total of fantastic. I rolled a negative one, because it is what I need to do. - I have a skill of effectively five, and then I got plus two from Bob. - So with good, you get some skin samples you said you were looking for. Whether that was on the ground where the axe hit him, his little chunk of him came out, or if it's scraped on the wall when he-- - We're sure it's not Roberto's. - No, it's not Roberto's. - No, it's not Roberto's. - It's not up along the wall, too. And with the fantastic, you actually managed to get a small drop of what you believe is demon blood. Not necessarily Roberto's, because there's probably a little more of Roberto's than there is of a demon, because he took the worst of it by far, but on the axe, you see a schmear of fluid, and it definitely, Roberto was never hit with the axe, the wall was. So you're assuming it has to be the demon, so you take a sample of that as well. - Demon blood's magic is fuck, man. - It's not a huge sample, but it is a sample. - All right. - At least it bleeds. - Yeah, that's good news. - That does take you back into the basement where the rest of them are, unless you want to do something else. - No. - Seems I was getting-- - Okay, the basement's got a few aspects. It's cluttered because it's not complete. There's a lot of hanging wires and bits and pieces that aren't completely finished yet, outlets that are not-- - Haven't got the cover on. - Doesn't have the cover on, yes. - But there's a room, and some of the areas are finished, so you go to a small room that is finished. And as a private meeting room, you have a work cot that you pull in so that you can put the warden up on the cot so he can at least be comfortable, you would assume, in his current vegetative state, and you guys start dealing with the tarot reading that-- - Right, and the third law. - And discussing the third law. - How do you want to deal in metagaming terms with the tarot reading? Would you like-- - Suggest making a lore role and see if that increases any additional information that we get before we go ahead and-- - Try to jump in the center of your butt. - I mean, I'm-- - That's fine. That's what I mean. Do you want to use your character skills, or do you want to tackle it with the players? - Knowledge. - Knowledge, and so we could do a combination of both. So anybody that wants to do a lore on the tarot cards, Zelda obviously would be the best choice, but she's not here, and I don't know that-- do you have her character? - I don't actually have her character, she-- - Okay. - It was her highest skill. - Why doesn't every character interpret that as they would? - Okay. - Because I know Roberto has an idea. - That's fine for you guys to make the interpretation. What Michael is suggesting is everyone make a lore role to see if they get additional information like a hint at how the interpretation would be specific to this case, and that's a perfectly valid way to do it, because some of your characters might have a lore way higher than you as an actual player does. So anybody who wants to do that, feel free. - I have no lore though. - Okay. - I have no lore. - You can just give your character-- - Tell us something. - A lore will not roll. - Jim. Why don't you roll for Zelda? - Absolutely. - Your lore was superb? - Yes. - But I was out of this burger. - And she's interpreting tarot cards, which she definitely has-- I don't know if she has specifically skill to do that, but she definitely has an aspect that's related to that that you can tap on her fake points for if necessary. - The super style is three or more-- - I don't think she would tap that, because she's-- - You don't know that she needs to. - You may roll exception. - Roll first. Tap later. - Plus one. - Okay. So she is all the way up to epic, in fact, in her interpretation. - Is that a way to do that? - No. - She has her-- - Oh, so she's up to-- - Fantastic. - That takes her to fantastic as far as her read on the tarot cards go. - I've got a lot of one, negative two. - Yeah. - You-- - That's what-- - All right, a little confused on how she gets some of the shit she gets from these cards. - Are you there? - You're baffling to go all along. - It seems to you that she is simply making this shit out. - My lore is great, plus four, I rolled a minus one for London, so I get a three, which is good. - Yeah, okay. - Yeah, some understanding, but certainly is in awe of-- - My goal was great. - For anybody to glean further information that she did not give in her basic read of the tarot cards, it would require a laurel of great or better-- - I can certainly spend-- - It's a wish. - A fake point, but is it going to even be-- - Wow. - It is, because she's going to have additional information with a fantastic, which if you bump yourself a little better, you're probably not going to-- I mean, this is her real life. - I get to suburb as best I can do. - Right. - She has a lore of good and rolled minus two, so it's average, so he's out of his element here. - Right. So as far as the lore and your character's skill abilities, nobody can touch Zalda. She comes up with some additional information that she finds interesting and that you might include in your interpretation of this. Bob, did you character Steven want to do a role? Do you have lore? - I thought we were still outside. - You guys have joined the rest of the basement, so they're explaining the tarot card situation and you're looking at it. You have some knowledge of lore and how things work. - So, but a great understanding of it, so yeah, if I could-- - To pull additional information from the tarot card and reading straight up, the basic reading she's given so far, it would require a great or a better role. - That would be a plus two, I'm a fair-- - Plus, minus plus-- - Oh, wow. - No. - No. Solid even, huh? - No idea. - So Zalda goes into a bit of a more lengthy explanation of the tarot card. And she reads a little farther into it. And one thing she points out that she finds interesting is that the Ten of Wands is showing a picture of a gentleman carrying many Wands or staffs is actually what they look like. And that it represents much work or effort given, and that what she's seeing or what's really more so than you would think, jumping to her mind is the fact that the pack of things that he's carrying are split, and that there seems to be three off to one side, and then the rest going in another direction. - Side twist. - And she's saying that perhaps it's going to require a split group effort. And that potentially, if you're talking about Repa going into the Warden's mind, maybe it's Repa and one other, while the rest of you and us are doing something else. And I don't know who-- - What do you know? - Who those two that would be, but-- - London, could you find who's doing this, and we can track them down and interrupt this? - Oh, Richard, while my divination powers are, I think, are, you know, they speak with themselves, but I generally need something in order to be able to track down who might be doing this. I can't just divinate from thin air. - I acquired samples from Demon, but that might not be who's actually getting it. To be perfectly honest with you, the last thing that I'd want to do right now is track down a demon. - A demon. What are you currently tracking? What are we hiring you to do? - You hired me to track the missing leg of the most recent ritual victim, which I have-- - The compass. - The compass, which I have a beat on right now as we speak, although events derailed the conversation I was going to have with the Warden regarding that situation. - And what do you think that's relevant to this? If we track that down, will we find the man behind this? - I want to hear more of what Zelda has to say. I might be able to ascertain some information about that once. - Well, the other points that Zelda had on the read is that the way she's seeing it is that you've got, in the center, a magic user, the magician. - Right. - And that he's got a mental illness or disgrace or something of that negative connotation that could be the word, because that's what we're asking about. It's current cities, and that something's troubling him. - And something's going to take some great effort to get into. - And it's going to require a great effort, and that it should be a two-prong attack. That's what she's seeing. - Where does she see two-prong? - Well, again, she refers to the wands. That they're carrying a bundle, there's a large group and a large effort being put forth, and that there's three of them off to one side, which could be the Warden and two others, one being Rappa, that leads into his mind to help whatever's going on with the Warden, to help the mental illness be overcome. - I'm not convinced I have to go into his mind to do that, but, okay, I'm not convinced I want you to go into his mind to do that. I'm worried about the third law. - And my question is, is what could you do to someone else's mind so that you can get into the same state in your mind and go along with you? - Well, World Walker is the power that's affected. - Well, that's how yours is based on that. - Right. - People in the immediate area are just kind of drawn along, according to this question. - I'm sorry. - To continue, she says, "Can we get Zelda's viewpoint first and then start?" - That the past influence was discord and weakness and abuse of power, despotism. She doesn't quite understand because she doesn't have your history over what happened between the group. But that is affected by... - Is it? - Yeah, it's affected by the fourth one, actually. So a folly misunderstanding or a false, and she believes it to be friendship because she doesn't know of any law of interest in the warden's life. - The folly in the past that he trusted was the old warden. - Right. - Yeah, his mentor seems to be what two is all about. Now, she again points to the fact that she's seeing a behavior of him trapped in his own mind, which she relates back to this terror individual who was a basket case as far as she knew, and she would use her power to do self-reflection and self-improvement on herself. This is different in the fact that she's seeing an external forcing going on here, that this the warden certainly didn't do this to himself as far as she can tell. - Is this still about card four that you're talking about right now? - She's doing an overall reading of how this all ties together as far as she's concerned. - I didn't understand where she got what she got from four. - She says she doesn't know. She doesn't know your relationship together. She doesn't know... - That's except for card two. - Well, she still doesn't. One misunderstanding happened in the past. What abuse of power? - Zell is getting an eye roll. She's getting the one in an eye roll. - She can tell you what she's being told of the situation. She doesn't have the specifics. She does another warden like you do. - What is forward? - What is it that you guys? - What misunderstanding? What false friendships? What discord? What abuse of power? What discord do you know? - I don't know what you do know. - If you were here, she'd be swearing at you. - Oh, I know. She wouldn't be even more forceful than I normally would kill your abductors. - Well... - I'm sorry. Do you have a better read on this, fucker? - This is probably... - Well, I'm sorry. Would you like a better read on this? - A big point in order to do so? - Sure. - Have a glass of wine and fuck. - No, even with the fake point, you wouldn't have touched her understanding of this. - I forgot to superb, though, where I needed to be. - Right. - Yeah. - Bye, Joe. It's not your stuff. - I thought she was gonna be so very enlightening. - Terror crimes are never clear. You have to read an interpretation. They just keep providing information until you give the answer. - So you keep bringing wine and keep guessing? - Yes. - Can you give us something that is hard for five, perhaps? - Please. - That's pretty simple. Don't... If you don't deal with this, there's gonna be a death, there's gonna be violence, there's gonna be... And it's gonna require extraordinary effort on your part to solve this. Does she have anything on the future? - The third card. - She was mentioning the split in the... - What? Oh, the stage to the split. There's me two groups. - It's gonna require much work. - It's far as... I mean, that's a lot of wands there. There's a lot of staffs. You are a lot of people, so I'm assuming it's gonna require the whole party to fix this. - All right. - What it is, is duly here was really looking for some really to be impressed, and now he's just mildly irritated. - Hell, Rachel wanted to interpret Zelda's? I don't know. All I'm giving you is a GM. - Fantastic. Zelda. That's why. - Cool. - No, I'm your old one. - The adults will talk now. - Oh, she's so very honest. - Wow. - I'm gonna cut it out special. - Again, I'm just... - Yeah. - You just wanted that epic success. That was... - Yeah, that's great. - Truthfully, as a GM, I did give information there. Now it's... - Yes, you guys can interpret it. - Of course. - And that's... - It's just one thing to dig that is. - Right. I can't spell it out for you. - Right. - So who wants to go in with the rapper? If that's even a thing that can happen? - It is a thing that can happen. My fear is that is understanding us all of us at this table right now are... - You're scared of wizards. - Please. I respect wizards. I'm afraid of the wizarding laws. And if he learns that someone went into his mind even with good intentions and broke the third law, he will hunt them down with his big sword and slice their head off. - Tell me what the third law is. I'll do my best now. - The third law is... - You're not supposed to go into one's mind. - You're paraphrasing. What does the third law say? And feel free to roll and learn to know how well you would know the third law that you can't do anything other than paraphrasing. - Okay. Medigaming wise, I've broken the third law. - You've pretty much... - You don't need to roll then. You know exactly what the third law is. - Oh, wow. I should say it. - That's up to you as well. - No. - I don't know. If you're gay... - I'm trying to pull it out of the book. - It actually exists in... - Yeah. - Is it not? - I'd prefer to give me a very strict definition. - It is kind of a memory definition of what the third law is, but pretty much it sounds like what you're planning on doing is breaking into someone else's mind and reading their thoughts. - Yeah, necessarily. - I agree with you. - You don't understand. - He's afraid that the warden won't. - He will not understand if we were able to bring him back this way. - Let's assume I don't care if he understands him. - It's for a moment. - You're old. - He cannot run him. - I'm sorry. I just mean he's... - I live my life. - Okay. - Let's just consider... - I'm not reading thoughts. I'm feeling emotions. I'm working around the edges and trying to see if there's... - You're just searching for the connection where he's being forced into this. - That's all we're trying to break. I can actively avoid reading thoughts. I don't want to do that. I'm supposed there's a whole lot in there right now anyway. - You're just interacting with him... - That's pretty boring in there. - I'm telling you. - What do you do? - I want to make sure we all say it wrote verbatim the exact same thing. Yes, he only went in there and did that. That's how I want to sound to the warden when he wakes up because I do not want you to die as a consequence of trying to help this man. He killed his mentor. - Okay. He did not kill his mentor. He set his mentor up to be killed. - That's slightly different. - That's slightly different. - Why are you arguing with me? - Thank you. - You're the game? - No, because he kept interpreting that way and he's saying I cut his head off with a sword. - That never happened. - All I know is... - Mike's memory is faulty to the point of he's making shit up that never happened. - From one of his point of view... - And it isn't up to debate. He isn't a spin. - Yeah. - I think he never cut the head off. - No, he never did. But he set his mentor up to die. - Absolutely. - In my mind, he killed his mentor. - And he was undeniable. - This never happened. - That never happened. - Who killed the most important person in his life. - I understand. - If he thinks that... - It isn't aspect of his mind. - I have to live by the book. - He will slay him without blinking. And that's what I want to avoid here. We all respect the warden to varying degrees. - I got an idea. - What's your idea, boss? - Can we do something to track what is getting into his head and where it's coming from and just go into that thing's head and stop it there instead of stopping it into his head? - I ask that to go back. - We can't track where it's coming from. - Sure you can. - We can't. - Why? - I'm gonna start. - I asked London. He said he can't. - London cannot. - Yeah. - He's not talking about me. - We're not talking about this actual body. Like going there and punching the dude in their face. I'm talking about going into his mind via the link he's got into the warden's mind right now. Jumping and taking our minds and going back up the stream the other way and going into his mind. - I like that. - Walking into his mind. - I know next to nothing about mental conflicts or whatever the fuck this is. - You don't even know anything about it. You fight a man who is able to inflict this on the warden of all things. I think I do. - Zilda points out that it seems to be that the person that might be involved with this is the one that's a false friendship or a misunderstanding. And again, she doesn't understand your relationships. - Well, that makes sense to any of you who know him. - The only person that has a connection to the parent that could be considered a false friend is Ryan fucking Nelson who I talked about enough in the last story we all chaired together, but it could be towards him perhaps, because we thought that he had some powers that we did not understand. He's someone in the parentette. - Why are you limiting it to the parentette? - Because the people who are dying are all involved in the parentette at this point. - That's a valid point. I mean, that's... - So there's a connection there. - All the ritual members, it is believed, were parentette members. - Right. And Ryan Nelson had powers that he should not have had as a parentette number. - He could do something like this. - He could still have powers that he shouldn't have. - So he could be the false friend that we think, or it could be one of us. I mean, I don't think about what Roberto's been doing for the last three months besides he's been killing wizards. No offense, but you could think me. I'm Mr. Fine Things Out. - That's what he was telling me. - That's what he was telling me. - Yeah. If you actually had information proving it, for all you had was some large overweight McDonald's eating a bitch telling you to go kill them. We don't know for certain that they had it coming. To get back to the germane point, and that is the only person I could think at this point is Ryan Nelson. Does anyone have a false friend, and I'm sticking to those who've asked you involved the last adventure, if you will, that we shared together? - Right. Real quick though, Zella mentioned that the false friend might be the one who needs to go on the journey. - What is it? - It's tarot cards. You read what you read into it. - Right. But what did you read that problem? I don't understand the connection between the false friend card and the journey. If I remember correctly. Well, the false friend is reasoning. Two is the past hassle affecting the press. - That was the false friend, right? - As a newcomer, Repa couldn't help but notice there's some tension between Roberto and he did. - Is that a possible, maybe he's the one who has to come along, according to Zella? - If that's the interpretation. - Again, she doesn't know anything about the dead end of this group. - If this is the interpretation, I understand it from the warden's point of view, because we asked a question about the warden. I'm going to assume that this is even the person he would consider a false friend of anyone in the last investigation we had would be Roberto. - Or his mentor. - Besides interpreting. - Right. - But he's dead. - I think if we can decide what the second group's going to do, we can decide whether or not I need to go with them. Do we need to ask kicked? I'll go. - Right. - You're very good at that. - I'm hoping not. - Right. - I don't know. - But hope is one thing. - Zella says the only time she's seen this power used before, it was by a person and she was doing it on herself. - No. - Right. - If someone else is doing it, she doesn't know enough about magic to know if they have to maintain it and they could be just simply disturbed. - Stop it. - I think go ahead. - Go ahead. - Didn't you have an interpretation of what's going on that had something to do with the parenthood? - You had a theory last week. - Right. - You brought it up. - I had a theory. - You had a theory. - I had a theory. - I had a theory. - Right. Right. - Love and believes potentially that someone is gathering up the body parts in the, by taking one of the body parts, the body part that's responsible for their particular power, they are then gathering all the power together. Now, we just saw a demon with multiple eyes, could it have been the demon, possibly, but that seems more like a manifestation of someone summoning a creature of that power than the actual power itself. - Right. - I feel like there's a more, you don't create demons. - I think there's a more human element at work here. - Now that we're jumping back on the idea of the demon, can we describe in detail the demon we saw for the people with the higher laws, we have them rolled to figure out exactly which demon it is. - I would recommend it. - Sure. Roberto needs to describe it, admin needs to describe it, Maxwell was out there. I'm not going to require a role for them to give a description, but the description is it was a large hulking beast, the size of a huge gorilla, but it had features that were definitely spider, arachnid, light in its... - Right. That definitely had eyes that were of multiple nature, it had two lower eyes that were basically humanoid, but they seemed to glow orange-ish or reddish, above it was too smaller, but green eyes, so it's a two sets of eyes. The skin was bristled with short little hairs, it did not have multiple arms, but the way it went up the wall was extremely spider. - Spider-Man is way up the wall. - I'll make you a lord, bro. - In that examination, you also saw chunks out of the wall where it had grabbed two, so it was using three fours as well. - Talons. - Definitely talons, huge claws. The description is adequate to make a lower role, to have a knowledge of any depth other than it's a demon to be more specific would require fantastic lore to know any specifics on the demon. - Zelda, help us out. - I don't think that's her... - Well, it's not really her problem though. - It's definitely not her forte as far as... - She's struggling with different learning, she's very new. - Information is power. - Yes it is. - Very apropos. - Does that take you up to fantastic, or just allows you to re-roll, that shitty roll you rolled. - It takes me up to superb or allows me to re-roll, which I think I'm just going to re-roll. - Mathematically, it's going to... - There it is. - There it is. - That's a plus two, I start with grade at plus four, which takes me up to plus six, which is fantastic. - Which is what you need. - Basically, it's been a big point to hope I was in a roll plus two. - And it worked, which is... - Yeah. - Interesting. - That was Jonathan and I was going to say... - I was going to say that... - Yes, roll that. - Roll that. - 17, but you need an 18, so I'm going to re-roll this die point. - And it works. - Yes. - That's the only option in a demon era. - A lot of those lines are too bad, Nina isn't here to kick the shit out of the spider. - There you go. - What are some of these people? - Is anyone else have a lord that want to give this a shot, or... - No. - I would roll as a joke, but I already did that. - And I just saw that. - London definitely can peruse back in his mind. He has a thousand contacts and has heard a ton of stories. He definitely has a... - Yes, none. - One of the decks of supernatural knowledge. - Not an over-abundance of knowledge, but enough to know that... - That's great. - It was... - No, his base is great. - Right. No, I mean it was fantastic. I get that. But that was what you needed to just have a basic general concept, which this is. A, it is a demon, but B, the representation, the double set of eyes is human eyes and demon eyes, which means that somewhere in there is a human, and that it was being possessed, and that currently the demon was in control. But that is... - I'm sorry. - It was a human that transformed not necessarily, well, yes, obviously at one time, but also you believe has the ability to transform back into a human. - I haven't. - That it was just taken over slightly. For a short, so yes, it is a shapeshift and that is currently controlled by the demon, the demon's in control, hence the size, the shape, and the dual set of eyes. - Would London, with his fairly vast repertoire of knowledge, I mean, he's the amoral seer to the supernatural powers, does he feel as if spending another fate point would gather him important information like, "Oh, I've got a book back in my house," or, "Hey, this particular contact, I know, could shed some more life and make a quick call," does he feel like there's more information to be gained here? - Yeah, there's definitely, and fantastic would take it up to a legendary, which would be enough, that actually gives you a bit of a spin, but it probably tells you what these guys are hinting at. - Would this be a... - I'm London moment. - Not really. - Okay. - The killer rule says, "If it's a matter of demons in possession, definitely have the knowledge we seek about demons in possession or their senses." - Well, Roberto's saying, "Oh, demon possession, I know somebody who's an expert in that, we can go see brother Francis." - You know a guy who's an expert in demon. - Right. - And if you can... - I know a religious man who knows about demons and possession. - Makes me think a lot better of you. - And brother Francis. - I can use an amoral seer to the supernatural powers by high concept in order to get us the information if... - I would say that's definitely applicable in this case. - All right, I use it. - Actually, I can't... - What's that? - You want to get brother Francis? - Well, we'll get him in there. I just want to get as much information from a source that I trust, which is myself only, as opposed to some random friar being called in to give us some consultation on demon possession. - Yeah, I mean, he might have more ability and information, but what you... By spending that and taking it up to legendary, what you know is, in fact, it's not just any demon, but it is one of the demons, as in the fallen angels that are possession, in the black and didarian coins, so this is a big fucking gun. - Oh, boy. - Do I know this particular brother? - I don't think you've been introduced to him. You might know of him because he is definitely in the know, and he's kind of a protector, as well as Roberto, but he's not as powerful as he is, but he is the one that is... He's kind of looks after the kids, and... - I've never consulted him. I've never talked to him in any way in Cleveland. I have great context. - He has recently moved into the Cleveland area. - Well, my level of trust is with him. - Right. - Oh, he's recent. - Yes. - Then let's say I don't, just for a story, tell him that. - I would say it's Roberto's relationship, and I don't have to interfere with it. - Right. And I would say that if you're looking for clues and ways to weaken and ways to arm yourself against this, that brother Francis is where you're going to want to go. He has a base knowledge that is much higher than anybody, probably even more so than the warden. - Okay. I explained that to the rest of them, that what we encountered today, and more specifically the people out in the alley encountered today, was a... - Black... - A human... - Black and Denari... - Black and Denari, it's a coin that's been blackened, and it's, you know, blackened Denari. - Does he know all that? - No, it's just... - He would know that it's a fallen angel that has been lost in the very powerful... - I would think. - You've made that intimate knowledge of that, but like I've heard the legend. - You've heard this... - Yeah. - I'm wondering about the coin in particular. Is he aware of that? Let's say no, and then the Francis tells them when they go over there? - Are you sure? - Well, let me get over there. So I'll just... - I don't know if the particulars of how the Black and Denari take over humans. You only know that there are like 30 of them, and they are very powerful demons. They're the high echelon of demons, and this is some serious shit you're dealing with. - Okay. Do we want to go back to trying to figure out what the tarot cards are telling us? Or do we want to go talk to the brother who might have more specific demon now? Is anyone feel like we've got enough information to make a decision on whether we should even attempt to go into... - Zelda's concerned with the outcome of fatality in this situation. There seems to be a ticking clock here, and assuming that the wardens should be... - You're literally... - Ticking the clock. - Well, I mean... - That is a potential outcome. What's going on in his head? She has no idea, but something's going on there. There's something occurring. But it's all in there. It's not out here. - The ticking clock is future or violence, death. - Yeah, I know. But how... I mean... - How future is future? - Yeah, a week or two from now on. Like, we're on some kind of... - Look, I think we have our two glaze. - How much time do you think we have here? - That's my point. I have no idea. Zelda just scared me. - I think we have our two grooves scared me. - What two grooves? - Yeah. - So I'm going to take the ward off. - We're going to try to interact with the wardens, and the rest of you can go talk to brother Francis. - Should it be three? - Three steps that there are three people here. The warden, the rapper, and myself. You're too pansy to go in. I'll do it myself. - You know, you... What is your rapport? Does it not exist? - It doesn't. - Because it really shouldn't. - Is your, is your rapport like negative three? - It doesn't exist. - Okay. You're playing. - You're just perfectly in character. - Listen, you're too pansy to go in. - It's not about pansy. - I don't care. Go. It's good to core. - You can't. - You have a time limit. - You can't fucking... Do you want to go in? - No, this is what I'm trying to prove. - You cannot do that when it comes to prophecy. You can't say, "It's all bullshit, we'll do it, because we're in a hurry." - He's dying. You can't fuck around with... - If you get a better idea about how to interpret this, we need information either way. - We're doing it again. - We need information either way. - Yes, Roberto. I understand. But you have, you have a propensity in the past for action before thought. - This is... - Oh, is that an aspect of your opinion? - You cannot speak yet any more knowledge than we have already gotten from it. It is... - How do you know? - We talk to the brother and the brother told us that this is a power of a demon and... - How about you go do that? - Before, before we break in and break the third law. - I have no intention of breaking the third law. - Bruise it. - Bruise it. - Right, no. - I'm not going into his mind, I don't want to go into his thoughts. - I don't get a damn world one. - I don't get a damn world one. - What are we trying to do that explains to me what you two plan on? - I'm trying to break off an outside connection to his mind. - I don't dispute that you could... how are you going to break the connection without being in his mind? I don't understand how the... - How the fuck have been there? I don't know. - Yeah, I know either. And breaking the connection may not be possible. - So, gathering information. What you're telling... - He's just being... - And it has nothing to do right? - There you go. - Breathing. - No, gathering information is the last thing I want to hear. - Go ahead. - I don't want... - Any information gathered about him. That's breaking the third law. - It's not him. Why do you keep... - Can you trip over a line and break a law? I will not, if it comes close to it, I'll back out. - It is possible to... - Because you're the... just paragon of discretion. - It is possible without entering his mind... - I'm the driver here. - It is possible... - Fair enough. - Is this right? Is it possible to, without entering his mind, gather information about what is going on to him without actually going into his mind? - Sure. - You do that in real life, right? - Yeah. - Yeah. - You think I'm sure like you've done this before, sure, or sure, because you like the concept of it. - I've done the world walking before, which is what this is. And I haven't ever been tripped and fallen to somebody else's head. - Then I'll go. I don't want you to go. - I don't want him to go in there. - You are. In no offense, or burnouts? - Yes. - I have the utmost respect for your physical prowess, but when it comes to decision making, sometimes it could be rash. And you know the brother, I do not. You should lead the delegation to get more information. - So that has a thought. - Go. - Sure. - You said you can track anyone? - Anyone. - So if Ruppa connects in and follows the lead to where it is, you can follow him? - That's why I think I should be one of the ones to go. But then you will follow that lead. - In this world, follow him. Somewhere. - Well, he's going to like sleep walk? - Well, if he's traveling in another world to the other end of this connection, can't you follow that Ruppa to that connection? There you go. - Can you find where the person is? - A dangerous wizard? I think I should go. - Sorcerer. - If he can connect and zero in on where this connection is starting from, the source of the connection, and then London can say, "It's over here, here it is." I can follow it because he's attached to it. - Follow Ruppa to it. - I can follow Ruppa to it. Then we can physically go. - Follow him. - Me and Roberto can physically drive in a car over to a guy's house where the connection is, and punch him in the face. - I'll follow Ruppa's spirit. - I'll follow Ruppa's spirit. - He says, "You can't do that." - I thought you were good. - I can track anybody. - 'Cause Ruppa would say that. - Hey, the exes. - Spirits for Christ's sake. I don't know. Give me some hair. - Yeah. - Give me some DNA. I'll try. - Put that leg. - Put that leg. Put that leg. - You're tracking the person's aura. - The aura. - No, I haven't applaud. - Yes. - You had a physical sound. - And I'm not following, I'm not following their aura, I'm telling you where that physical person is. - But is that? - This is completely spiritual. - Is that? - It sounds like we should all get some crystals and we should all hold hands and burn some incense. - Seriously, one incense. - And that shit's all about crystals. - He's not about crystals. He's a... No, not at all. That unless it's like a Zaborski and he's going to get to some fine woman. But anyways, the point being, the only crystals that he's comfortable with are the kind of buying a store, not the kind of... We all chant around. I don't know if I can follow a spirit as I'm saying. - Hey, there's one where to find out. - There is only one way to find out. I think... - I'm willing to give it a shot. It just sounds a bit fishy to me. - Like a long shot. - So is everything else we're dealing with right now? - What other option do you have at this point? - Not a lot. Although the brother may tell us that the demon is the one who's done this, and I can track a demon. - And then... - It's what stabs at his... - It's substantial. - It's not going to do it. - But an aura. I'm not sure. - What's the risk if you fail? - We can't fail. - It's not, and as long as he doesn't break the third law, there's no risk at all. But I'm not sure I can just hover, but he said he's done it before, so... I don't know him. - Hey, it's on him. He says he can do it. You don't have to vouch for it. - It's my ass. - I don't need you covering for me. - We're all fucking adults here. I don't think you can break a law by accidentally doing something. - I don't think we should tell you. - I think there's a clear line, and I don't need to worry about... - No. - I can handle myself. - I believe you guys can't. - I'm in circles, isn't it? - Yeah. - But what are you going to do inside his mind? - I am not going to be inside of this mind. - No, no, no. - I'm talking about Roberta. Why does he want to go? - I don't think he's a good fit for this. I'm not trying to be rude. I think you're a fit for going and tracking down the demon to the brother. That's where I think you're most valued. - I have a bit of flame in my hand, and I say, "When it comes to magic, I have some power. It's not like I'm a lightweight. Even in the mental realm, I can carry my own." - I'm sure you can. - But we're not... - We're doing a track. We're not... - We're knocking the connection out. - If we can knock the connection out. If we can't, we're falling it back to a source and finding a fit. - I think we should try, and if that fails, you track it. - Well, if... - Shut up right now. - We need the wizard. - Here's to be a great effort, and it appears to be a lot of people involved, and it appears to be two groups to hurt. - And I do rather track it before you knock it out, so you at least know where the source is. - No, because we have a matter of time and the wizard is needed. - No, I disagree. - I don't think you're... - Just knock it out. - Roberta, where do we trace it? - I just want bloody fucking demon, then you're like, "Cut me, god damn it. We need to fight this thing." - We can't. - You did it. - Where's the decaf? - Go talk to the... - Brother, we need to free this guy now. I don't want to track him, and then go kick his ass, and then come back here and see if he's better yet. - I don't want the warden to kill you. - I don't give a damn what you want. - I know. - I can fucking kill this guy. - The warden? - Yeah, if it comes to that, we're not supposed to kill the warden. - For fuck's sake, see? - This is why you don't... - I'm not afraid of it! - This is what I need. - Right. - I understand. I think we all vote that you're not ready to go in. Except for you. You feel like... - No, you are going around in fucking circles. I want to kick this connection's ass, whatever the hell is damaging him. - This... - Crystals. Crystals. - You go. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - You're not helping. - With the guy riding shotgun. I'm the guy driving. - You're not just a case of severing it and not knowing what's going on. - If it can't be severed, it'll send you in. But we need to try. We need this guy fixed. - Quit talking. You're making everything a lot harder. I'd like to talk to Repa. - Yes. - Do you trust him with you? - I don't. - I understand. - That's great. - I got your bow. - Shut up. He's the driver. - As you trust him. - As former military, I think he can sum it up to discipline to do what's right in this situation. - Then I think that's good enough. - Did we see any discipline in the last investigation we had? Did anyone... - Did anyone else... Did I kill anyone who didn't deserve it? - I'm asking your cohorts here. Did anyone see any discipline at all? - Demons? - I go back for some harder liquor. - Bill... - What are they doing? - Did he follow the plan? - Ghouls. - No. - He killed the Ghouls without taking control of what power. - Oh. Did I release a bloodthirsty vampire? No wait, that was you. - No. It was me. Get your shit together. - No, no, no. He's talking about combat. - I'm just saying. - Feral constant. - If Repa is saying he has a plan and he wants to follow it, do we trust Roberto to follow the plan? I don't. - I don't think the warden would... - The warden would not. - Oh, you can't cast votes for the warden. - I can't and will. - Warden, if you don't... - Warden, if you don't trust them, roll your eyes in the back of your head. Don't forget to roll a little. - Okay. What about you? - Where are you guys wanting? - No, no, no. - No, no, no. Get your votes. We are a group right now. - I don't even know. - Repa says he wants Roberto. Roberto wants Roberto. - I don't even understand what the plan is yet. You guys are... - I want to try to break the connection. He wants to trace him. - And break the connection by going there and punching the guy in the face or break the connection by my mental. - Mental. - Like in the... - We don't know where he is, so we're trying to mentally. - Oh, I don't understand. - Because all the things that the suggestion is that these guys follow the beam back to the source. And then follows them back to the source, so it's a two-prong attack. They trying to break it spiritually. You guys, hopefully, following physically in one or another year are both handling it. - Repa wants to know what Zelda thinks of the... - Right. What's her name? - It's Roberto and I. Who's the third? - Oh, it's the word. - It's the third. - It's the word. - The word? - Well, how can we... - Let me ask Zelda the answer for her. - Sorry, sorry. That was my interpretation. - Sure. - She believes that the word is there. So... - He's one of them. - The one interpretation you can do. - The word is one, and then you would obviously have to be two and the third, again, she goes back to false friendships and misunderstandings. - Which monofus now? - Is that the target, is that the person that should be the third? I don't know. - Or is that the one who screws it all up? - Roberto bites his thumb, presses a little blood to the counter, and says, "If I make my way to this brain, you can use the blood to track my spirit, and you've already proved that with a leg." - Okay, I'm all bored. That might ability to be able to track spirits, okay? That's a go that I'm with it. - Just real quick. The fourth card, two cups, modifies the past. The two cups is modified or affected by the fourth one, which is the reason. So two being the past is modified, or modified, the interpretation is modified by the fourth card. - Yes. - So, Roberto, do you think he would have more value in the spiritual realm or in the physical realm, if we're trying to trace this back? You feel like he'd be more valuable in the spiritual realm? - I don't know who's doing it, but if he's got this kind of mojo, I assume he's more powerful magically than he is physically. - Was the demon that you just fought more powerful physically or magically? - I fought him physically. - No, I'm asking. - I would have no idea what he's doing. - I have no idea what he's doing. - I have no idea what he's doing. - I'm just asking. - I think to get an idea of his magical talent, he needs to talk to the father. - You want to buy a boat? - To the brother. - To the brother. - Because Roberto can punch it in the face physically, mentally, physically, mentally. - Not there. - And mentally is a caster. - That's a couple of cells. - That's the reading of the cards he's telling us. - I think Roberto is here. - Roberto is here. - That's four. - And I'm not sure this built a box is saying that people can follow things. - No, but I think it should be done anyway. - I know. It is now. Because I'm just saying it is. This is the Lord and this is somebody who has employed me and he's also someone who I consider as much as I'm willing to consider. - I'm not saying I'm not listening. - A friend. - And so I've definitely am thinking that I have a say in this and if everyone thinks Roberto is the best choice to go somewhere near the warden's mind, then he's going spiritually into the other way. - The other way from his mind. - Whatever. If there's even a trace to follow, what if there's not? - Then I come back. - Yeah. Then it doesn't happen. I trust. - And you don't push him. - I trust Rappa to make sure he don't go the wrong way. - What would I tell him to do? Go peek a look at the warden's mind. If you're transomestantially, maybe you walk in yourself. I don't know. You would prove it yourself not to be someone who follows the plan. That's my point. - This plan. - Yeah. - The only deviation I can do is evil. I'm not going to do that. You don't know me if you think I would. - His. - No. - I'm not saying you do something evil. I'm saying you would push beyond the lobe to try to get the information you need it. That's what I'm saying. I'm not saying you're evil at all. I don't believe you're evil. - I don't know how I could do that. - If you think I might. - This horse is dead. Do we stop beating it? - Yeah. - All right. So the assumption is we have a plan. - Well, I wanted to hear what... - We're going to do that. - We're going to do that. We're going to do that. So the plan, and I don't want to do it tonight because 8-11-B, it's going to involve hopefully the warden being here because there is a chance that there is going to be a spiritual/mental combat going and it's going to involve these and the warden should definitely be involved in that. But what we have is Stephen setting up his camera that takes pictures of the future and or the past. What is your intent in taking this picture? Because if I'm not mistaken, you take the picture and then there is a development time that is required for you to do as a sort of ritual. - It takes three to five minutes to take the actual picture. - What are you doing? And then... - He's setting up a... - Yeah, what? What do you do? - I know old. I'm taking a picture. - It's one of those... - What do you... - I wouldn't do it. - The big thing. - Is there a picture of this man? - What? - So it's like... - I know you got a whole lot of... - Are you opposed to photography? - No. - You got a picture of this man? - No. - We don't know what he does this. - We're not even open yet. I'll just... - What is... What is it you wish to get? Because I'm going to need... Because when predicting the future, it's always tricky and if I have a little time to consider all the ramifications. So in closing, you're taking a picture of that you want to take a picture of the situation. What is it you want to glean from this? - Well, I mean, it does just show the future. It might also show things that aren't there, or maybe show things how they are. - Absolutely. - It might seem like this... - Right. - It might be like this... - On a chord. - Something being sold out or drilled into or something. - It's on a... - Maybe a face or a hand or something on his head. - That's very bad. - Yeah. - I mean, it really depends on how much information you're willing to share with that. - Sure. - How good the role is. Maybe I see... - Which is valid. How long does it take you to process the film? - I know you said it takes three minutes to take it. Is it instantly something you can look at like a pole right now? - No, it's... So I have a van and it's dark in the back there. That's where I... - So you got a little dark run out of it. - Affordable vehicles and... - And then... - History vehicle kind of things. - Right, exactly. - Tinted windows and night windows. - This conversation, this argument, this discussion, this going over tarot cards was a good half an hour 45 minutes. - Sorry. - So if you... No, that's fine. It was perfectly good stuff. - When that 45... - No way. - London might be disgusting saying... - I'm sorry, you were... - He's setting up an old-time camera on you and take a picture of our incapacitated warden for the full off site? - No fucking way. - What are you talking about first? - Right. I'm saying. - You can have? - Yes. - That's what I want to do for... I want him to be able to... - I missed that. Sorry. - Bring his character out. - I said I was talking to... - Steve. - Yes. - Perhaps you can explain what you're doing. - Right. - 45 minutes ago or half an hour before you started to do this and this discussion could happen and then you could have time to develop it. - Well, I'm fine. - You got the camera when I was out there with Maxwell. - Mm-hmm. - So... - It's such a cool concept. I just wanted to explain it to the audience. - Right. - Right. - But it's a bit about half an hour. But I mean, I definitely... - You guys were made in the conversation in discussion so I would not be... - And at some point it would be curd to you that maybe I can shut some light on this. You start to set up the camera and... - Yeah. - The conversation kind of screeches a whole day like whoa, time out. So now it's your character's turn Steven to divulge as much as you want to about this or at least get some rationale over what's happening here. - Can I give a quick... What the fuck are you doing? No. This isn't ending up with some blog site for your thousands hit. This guy is incapacitated and he happens to be a very valuable member to the supernatural community. This is not something you share with 10,000 of your closest friends. What are you doing? First of all, I have way over 1,000 hits or whatever. - Right. - Okay, come on. - Second of all, this camera allows me to see things that aren't there, allows me to kind of glimpse into the future. So it will give me a better understanding as to what's going on. This is not going to end up on a blog anywhere. I mean, the picture that is developed really no one can make sense of that except for me. So it's kind of like this... - I could say you can even pull a picture out and say, can you make sense of this? I can. - This is what it's kind of going to look like. I'm really the only person who can look at the picture and have any idea what the actual meaning behind it is. If I was to put this on my website, I would not use a camera from the Civil War era. - I had to run off. So you have... - You have some little more digital. - You have some camera that actually glimpses the future. - Things? Yes, they are. - Correct. - Things as they are, things that may happen in the future. - Well, it's like the wizard site only nowhere near as limited as that because he can see... - Right. Now, I see a lot of value in this actually, so my apologies, but please continue. That sounds like it could be a valuable asset to our investigation. - Thank you very much. - All right. So you do take the picture. It being a ritual, I don't know that anything is required as far as a role goes. With him, the interpretation is the important part. He can take the picture and... - Why wouldn't the picture maybe be more or less effective? - More out of the picture? - It's kind of like the terrors in that sense that it's the interpretation, right? So we're going to have you take the picture and then it'll give me some time over in between play sessions to come up with what exactly you see and we can give that. You take it out to your van and you start doing the lab work. Then your interpretation will be similar to the tarot in that you'll roll, you'll make some roll. Do we determine what skill that would be? - I think we said we would go with that performance. - Okay. So you do a performance to do an interpretation of that art that you created to determine what it is you're seeing or how well you captured the scene. Okay. If you want to make that roll now, that actually lets do that because then that'll give you the idea of how descriptive I have to be and how much information I have to give you. Steven? - I have a good performance. - Okay. - I would think you need at least a grade to capture what's going on here. The more you get, again, the more information I'll give you and what it is. - Come on, baby. I see you. - So that takes you up to grade. So you have a general idea. If you want more information, you can throw a faith point in there and a roll of an aspect. - I will. I'll tap an aspect. - What do you tap? - I don't trust words. I trust pictures. - Perfect. - So what, I have the choice to roll again or? - No, no, no. Well, you do. But that was a good roll. I trust that instead you just add plus two. So now you've got, yeah, you've gone from grade to fantastic as far as the information you get from this picture. And we will describe that picture next week and we will also go with the coupon to pack. - Yeah. - Thanks for listening to the nights of the night actual play podcast. Me? Because all they want is to tell her, "Rachel, can you go out and watch this?" - She can't do that. - And she's like, "You fucking idiot!" - Some of them are just supposed to be a neutral ground, right? - It hasn't happened yet. - It's more inspiring than the practice of this point. I'm not really sure if everyone will be down for that just because you have clear and obvious biases. - What? - You. - As a neutral ground? - What? - Will this place be a neutral... - What are your biases? - Us. - For one. - What are you talking about? - We're all nuclear. - You have this neutral ground. - Uh-huh. - Don't know if the power has appeared in a buy-in of that because you have obvious biases. - I don't think that's going to be like structure the imagination. - I trust you. - Oh my god. - Neutral model. - You just wanted an adventure to take constants out and... - Part of a war. - ...supported the slang even haphazardly or even unconsciously supported him chasing down a bunch of wizards and killing them. - And the cool Lord uses it. - You don't have any problem with that. - You have any problem with that. - So, I mean, you have... - Biases. - Biases. - I think that people would assume, but I mean, I'm all for it, I enjoy... - Yeah. - No, I want that to happen too, because your biases are on my side. - I just don't know that everyone will go for it. - Okay, so fuck you really loud a few more times from Virtos so we can tie that in. - Yeah. - Interrupt to the giant fuck you and we'll blend that right into the... - No. - Just don't take a fucking picture of me, man. - Mmm. - Still my soul. - Bitches. - I think you should improve on that negative video camera and put it in some goggles so that you can wear it in your feet. - Google goggles. - Yeah. - Google goggles. - Yeah. - Well, the reason why it's an old-fashioned camera is that magic doesn't like advanced things. - That's like trying to experiment up. - That's like trying to experiment up. - Right. - Yeah, that would be cool, then.
