Actual Play 17:23

[music] Hello, and welcome tonight to the Night Actual Play Podcast. This world of darkness stories chagrin was written and run by your story dollar Scott. [music] Now, please enjoy episode 123, titled "At Long Last." [music] Actual play starts 17 minutes, 23 seconds. [music] Okay, before we get started, we'll go through our feedback. We had a message on Facebook regarding episode 119, which was titled "visit in the past." Technically, it should have been revisiting the past, well, rigorous enough. Tyler Houdek said, "Great episode, quick note. At the end of the episode, someone asked, "What was the name of the thing they put in computers to get back in?" or something like that. It's called the back door. Did we answer that word? You know, this was another guy telling us exactly. Thank you, Tyler, yes. For confirming that, did we call it that? In the episode, I think, if you listen to the recording, I think you'll notice someone saying, "Back door," and then Scott ignoring it in second. Is that wrong? They're not right. That's too simple. So, thank you, Tyler. I appreciate the helpful hints. Yes. And on episode 121, we had RE post, night-tastic episode, by the way, spoiler alerts, in case someone hasn't listened yet. The treasure's stashed in the drawer and then discovered it was done superbly. I personally find these situations the weak spot of, shall I say, one role-chance gaming systems? Not sure which way Scott had it. Was the treasure really extra and reflected a great role, or was it treasured there to be found in the first place? I had made the blunder many times in the past with the hope that the players unlocked some crucial clue, but then they never even go that way, or they missed the role to get it. In this situation, Game Master's quick thinking on her feet is a very crucial talent. How can you make sure they get the information without shoving clues down the player's throats, i.e. railroading them? Here, too, the modern gaming society comes in handy. One can get examples of how others handle these types of things and use them later to make their own games better. After all, we play games to enjoy them. We get shivers from our successes and failures, all of it leading toward a better story. In this story, this is great. Thanks for the compliments for stopping us. And the situation RE is describing. That was Michael Clay's idea to go back to the garage, see if there's anything there. I had absolutely nothing for that scene. The complete scene was made up as I was thinking in my head and trying to quickly react to the request from Michael Clay and his group of Task Force, Siren, that went with him. I just thought I would maybe include one little thing, and he had it. Somebody had it as exceptional success. I was taking the lock on the desk. Oh, it was a file cabinet? It was a file cabinet. Right, it was a confluence of really good roles and really good role playing. So I felt that there should be some reward for that. And then I just thought that, hey, you throw a couple things in, you can kind of tie it into this story later on and then future stories. So one of those cases where Ari was talking about trying to think quick on your feet. I had a lot of time though, the scene played itself out for a while, so I didn't have to come up with something like that in that second. A lot of the newer games will say if there's something that has to happen, then just give it to him. Yeah, that's one of the points he made. If I needed to steer you guys, if you missed a huge clue and they would have missed it, it would have been in that filing cabinet. It's not that hard to just take your story and make it to players sometimes. Players have, first of all, since they have better ideas. And second of all, if they miss a turn off, there's plenty of other roads as the story unwinds to place that big, huge clue right in their past. Yeah, what I was referring to is when they were saying that there's a locked door and that an entire rest of the adventure is behind this locked door. Right. If they, the thing is they don't fail. They don't fail the role, unlike that door, ever. And if they did fail the role, then they still succeed in unlocking the door, but they do it just as the guard is coming around the corner to spike them. The door's kicked in their face, just because someone's opening it up at that point in the end. They're arguing about how to open up the door, or if they can, the door opens. Yes, for them. So, yes, great question, Ari, but yes, that was totally made up, and now it will have impacts for not just this story, but stories in the future because there were some really cool things that they found. Now that I've had time to think about it, I've actually been able to assign it some more importance in the story, in New Orleans, Chronicle Arc. Okay, we also, same episode, 121. Luke Green had a comment in which he said, "Bang, bang, rocklin, silver hammer came down upon her head." Anyways, great episode. To which Richard Watts responded, "Luke, bonus points for you." He liked the reference. We do have a lot of Beatles reference in our games, both Dresden and Thomas has a lot of Beatles. That was my entire fault in the character. That was all in the real world. Well, Scott put the silver hammer in there. I did. That was Scott's fault. I'm so tired, my goodness, these things. But Thomas's character in Dresden is an actual Edison. I can't listen to that. I don't have it on my iPod right now. I had it on mine. I don't think it had on my phone. Do you guys ever listen to the first time theater? Yes, yes. It's a lot of Beatles references. Never. It's been a while, I guess. Let's go there. Facebook, episode 122 had a post from Roy from the Rusek Amers. He's saying, "Listening now, kiddies." Referring to the episode. I and a few other members of the Rusek Amers will be at origin for at least the day trip. It's a reasonable $10 on Saturday, 15 for a family. We drive in, hit the floor, see some things, and then head out. Most of us will hit Gen Con for a Wednesday to Sunday and have a true medication. My in-laws usually make it for Sunday, family, day, and I hang out with my nieces and nephews. Let me know if you guys decide to make the trip. I'll run fiasco for you. So, in doing a little bit of research, I found out that our ex-player, hopefully to return Sunday player, Dr. Lucius, is getting married exactly on the day in which the discs and dice convention is taking place. Right. So, that means myself and my family are not going to that convention and we can't possibly go. So, I'm seriously giving thought to running down to origins for Saturday. As am I. Which one is the one? Origins is a Columbus. It's about two hours away. A little two and a half. I'm going to Columbus in two days. And it is on June 27th, I believe, is the Saturday he's talking about. So, it's the end of June. Both Scott and I are talking about heading down on that Saturday if at all possible and bringing our youngest sons and, completely, some of our older sons. It would be a fun trip. Do you edit out our negative comments about fiasco? Or does everyone know it and that's where they keep talking about it? No. I just edit out everything you say, John. I thought so. Negative fiasco. I never get to do it. I hate fiasco. I don't know how to get that into the fun fiasco. I hate the concept of fiasco. I just watched tabletop games with Will Whedon and I watched the fiasco episode. Yeah. It all ends in misery and death. I thought you guys would be right on top of that. You're forgetting which one? What happened in that game? I don't know. Did you watch it? What? No. Not in that game. I used to bowl the vistas. For, uh, fiasco was I due for the books of, uh, of Dresden. So you're saying it first place fiasco that you'll redress in books? Maybe. Well, I'm sorry. I don't care enough. His enjoyment of that series. Um, the reason a lot of people suggest fiasco for us is they think our playstyle would be perfect for it and that we would really enjoy it and it's a fun gaming system. But you know everything, John, so no worries. But by design, it's pretty much what you try to be like. I just don't give a shit. So, John, you don't have to play, you just get the GM. No. That's right. No, I was just pointing at it. It is pretty much a travesty and a disaster and that's the whole point of the game. It's named fiasco. Right. You have a character, you create it instantly and you plan. You get utter joy out of setting up scenes for your other players in which you screw them over as much as possible just because everybody knows it's going to end horribly. That's something that helped the game. Yeah, that's old school. That's like Scott's dream game. You just screw them up and play it. That's a little bit like paranoia too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. People even get hurt. So, now you're out of it, right? No, I just want to play. I'm just saying. It's a theme. It's a recurring theme. That's all. It's a point of the game. Everything ends in the game. What are we going to play? Rainbow Pony Warriors. We are all... You didn't even play the Paladin, I'm not going to say. Okay. Trevor Hodgkins. Anyways, thank you, Roy. And I'm really hoping that there's a good chance we actually will meet you at Origins. So, as it comes closer, I'll send you an email and we'll start to make plans and hook up. Trevor Hodgkins posted on episode 122 as well. I'm in the way back machine on the gutter skype at the moment. I will listen to this episode after I do and catch my breath from their hilarity. So, Trevor, thanks for posting in our forum about how awesome somebody else is. The other skype chime are a good podcast. I enjoy them myself. I can't. They don't edit as heavily as we do, so their episodes do tend to run two to three hours. But there's a lot of people out there that like to get into the characters and their banter. Okay. No grip. It's about 10 generators. Thanks for the feedback, Trevor. Also on episode 122, which is our latest one, Richard Watts post. This is a really good episode. The role playing in the pathios was awesome. But man, this reminds me of why I don't play World of Darkness. It's such a depressing style. Eric Victor is all around probably with a scotch chaser. Scotch chaser. Scotch or scotch. Scotch chaser. Scotch chaser or scotch. I responded to Richard online. Yes, Scott responded to Richard quite verbosely. But it's not really verbose if you're typing, is it? Yeah. Okay. I think they still use verbose because I remember in programming languages you can say whether or not you want the error message to be verbose or not. That's not typing, so put that. Luke Green also posted on 122 and he said, oh, and this is in reference to when we were discussing with what was your name? Danny Rockland's ex-wife. Yes. I don't remember what it's like. Danny, we're one side. We're discussing Danny in general. Right. He said, oh, yeah. Okay. Thank you, Jenny. Oh, you're afraid of Danny? What a coincidence. The reason there are three of us here is because he's got such a rep as a badass amongst my master hunters that were concerned we'd have something waiting for us now that it looks like he's gone rogue and all. And I was actually talking to Luke Green on Facebook when he posted that. Yes. He said, I don't know. I think he misinterpreted that. I think he was saying that we could have used that as an excuse for why there were so many of us there. Because he joked that all of us were going to show up. So I think that's what he was referring to. But in truth, that was never even a concern among any of us was that we were, oh, my god, his Danny, we're afraid. And we knew he was a badass hunter. But I think we all look at ourselves as badass hunters. Sure. Except for Montez who raised his hand over there shaking his head in this way. No. No. Who could be placed and headlocked by a three-year-old school girl selling cookies and could not break out if his life depended on him. Look, give that man a knife. Tight up with a zombie. And he could carve her up. He still wouldn't be safe to be within three feet of her. But yeah. Ari also posted. And he said, yes, that was a haunting episode. The difficulties with the ex-wife was gripping. Very, very well played, Scott. Really got the distress across. But luckily there could have been coffee. Sorry, Ari, I don't think that translated in English very well. But I get the point that you're saying which was that. When they had to fight their way into the door and there was a social combat between the. Right. I'm abusive. The abused have been a current husband. And Bob's went, Bob finally mustered his way into the door. The guy was all still pissed off and said, fuck you. And it's always about Danny. And Bob said, yeah, could you give me a coffee? It was kind of an offhand comment that was. I totally threw it on. Yeah. It was online, but I want to throw it out there for the listeners. Sorry. And that's, I thought you did an outstanding job. Yeah. And that's the, he really nailed it as far as like showing that concern. And really role-play to a level that I, sometimes I'm just surprised at what comes out of people when we role-play. And I mean, choose characters that are hard to ask. And he's always making these classic jokes. But when there was a woman who was actually in a position where she was being harmed and was living a miserable existence. All the jokes were cast aside and chewed really reached out to her. And it was a really nice moment in the game. I also liked how John was offended. Right. Like if he just wanted, he wanted nothing more than a beat. The beat was scared to do so because he didn't want to be brought back on the wife once they left the house. It was just a powerful scene. And sometimes we get those. And is the characters learn more of Chew's backstory though? I think I'll even appreciate more from what kind of, you know, abuse Chew came from. That why he reached out to her so much and why it was kind of meaningful for him. But anyways, great job of role-playing by Bob. Absolutely. From the KOTM Podcast.com blog site we had an anonymous post that was dealing with episode 120. So I don't really know who this was from, but thank you for the feedback in advance. The music used in this flashback and the violin piece in the previous episode appear to be mostly or all from the anime bleach. Specifically on the movie soundtrack. Hearing them was kind of a nostalgic trip for me. And opinion on the mainstream long-running anime notwithstanding. Also, pretty appropriate to the game. The only way could have possibly been more appropriate is if you guys were playing Geist. Geist. Another World Darkness game. Bob Ghost. Bob Ghost. Uh-huh. Geist. Well, yeah. Oh gosh, yeah. Rule. Yeah, it's kind of Bob Ghost. It's about kind of Bob Ghost. Spirits, anyway. It's Terrence Van Edering posted on the blog site on episode 121 which was the Recon and Relics episode. And he was just referring to the feedback on that episode. And he said actually the sixes and sevens and shadows in the Soul storyline each have their own podcasts. Which was a valid point that I meant to mention when we did that and now I will definitely take the time. At sixes and sevens is kind of like our sister podcast. They came out slightly after we did and said that we were their inspiration. And now I think they've exceeded us as far as the World Darkness play. They do a really good job with. Their first one was a changeling storyline. And when they did a Shadow in the Soul, they're playing, if I'm not mistaken, it's Geist. It's not, it's no longer a changeling. So they're playing an entirely different book set in the World of Darkness. And they started a separate feed. So if you light the sixes and sevens, go find Shadows in the Soul. It's worth the efforts. They just did like a different branch. But they did it in the different feeds. I've downloaded the first one. I'm going to try and give it a. It's enjoyable as well. So with that we'll just look at the blog site really quickly. The votes are. They're up to, they can jump a bit in the numbers but the play out is about the same. Edgard is at seven. Daniel is at 12. Sister Katie and Michael Clay are both at 13. Wow. And Jay is at 16. No catch on them. And for what it's worth, we passed our hundred thousand. Yes we did. Down a hundred thousand downloads. Hundred thousand downloads. We passed it a little bit while ago and I didn't mention it. I did not, not intentionally. No, but I just, I just find it this time. That was a ball night trying to get it past that number. You just kept downloading and downloading. And with that, that's the end of the feedback. Remember to vote for your favorite character while you're at the blog. It's a site which hopefully will be redesigned soon for the pressure to mic there. Visit our Amazon link. Give us a little extra cash to help support the podcast. Doesn't cost you anything extra. Just a little bit of time. More iTunes reviews. Oh yeah. And really quickly iTunes reviews. We're sitting at the same number which is 43 and our unofficial competitors. The Thursday night gamers. We know nothing about us. Yeah, it's at 50. But what, what I found was interesting is if you look, those are ratings. We are seven ratings behind them. But if you look at the people that actually took the time to place in a verbal review. Not just clicked five, four stars or whatever. Right. But actually writer review. We have five more than they do. So our fans. Sucking people. Wow. Now we're straight. So Twitter. So technically. But thank you everybody who took the time and anybody who wants to take the time to go to iTunes. Appreciate it. And with that, we will get on to the episode. This is chapter 14 of The World of Darkness story. I am your storyteller Scott. And with me tonight on my right is. I am Jim playing the cute redheaded sister. Katie O'Connor. The compact. The shadow of congregation. Bob playing FBI Special Agent Chew Park. Member of the Vasier conspiracy. Tom playing Jay Alton. Member of the ascending ones. Mike playing Michael Clay. The adventure academic. Part of the ages. Kai Doru. Thomas playing Edgar Montes. A voodoo and practitioner. Name member of the lay mister. His conspiracy. John playing Daniel Morgan. X test for us. Valperin member. And mountain man. Chairman. All right. Last week. One last we met. You were I believe just wrapping up the conversation with Jenny Browning who was once Jenny Rocklin. And I believe it was Special Agent Chew. With his two thugs or other agents Daniel Morgan and Ed Guard Montes who interviewed her. And hopefully got some information on her that will prove to be valuable. I don't think we did. And there was also a break in into the garage of one of the former team members of Daniel Rocklin. Part of his dock workers association and when we broke into the garage you were able to find not mistaken some hunter paraphernalia. So it meaning a journal that looked incredibly well kept for being ten plus years old. But had no writing on it. And also some bullets a hammer and a stake. That was silver plated I believe in the hammer and the bullets as well. And that's where we left it I think was everyone kind of sharing information at that point. And thinking about what the next step might be. That's what I remember correct so you got Connor went to a library. And I think I was going to do some research on something. Yes you were a library. You were going to research I think the silver weapons. Do they work on vampires because you thought they were to be used on werewolves. And also you might have been thinking about the journal as well. I'm not quite sure. You were heading towards St. Patrick's in Ohio City to do some research at the library there. The church has. After a small library. We're not a lot of back there. Actually Jay's not a lot back there. Oh okay. Everybody else I didn't carry a sniper rifle into the tower. It's allowed to come back and worship as they please. So you haven't said to your ten Hail Marys. I haven't done my repentance. Well he's a mother on the canal. He's an ambideal. I'm an ambideal. Professional. We'll start off with Katie quickly getting her situated. Katie you drive over in your Dodge Charger to St. Patrick's. Cathedral in Ohio City. And again it was free at summer evening. You work your way inside. You make some pleasant tweets with various staff numbers. Head off to the library news and study and sit down surrounded by your books inside to throw yourself into that. It's early evening we'll say so it's still quite light outside. So you're quite removed from the sights and sounds of the church and the day of the goings about in rhythm. As you're down in the darkened type library. It's a small library. God compared with it speaking. It's not as much a malleous Melofocarum library. It is just a typical church library. It does have a couple of some of the more esoteric works that malleous would have in their library. But it's very generalized though. Because it's small. It's a small church and it's just not cleaving out a huge hub for them of concentration or of focus. So go ahead and make academics plus intelligence role. What do you got? Give me your dice at that point. I got three dice. Three dice for your research? I'm not very accurate. I got one academic for this. We've something. And your intelligence is too. So you got three dice. To be honest you're looking for some really difficult information. So I'm going to remove two dice from the pool to give you one die for your role. And that would be a fail. Okay. So you spend probably about four hours in the library going through every reference you could possibly find. It's so except most of the late afternoon and in the early evening. And at that point you decide that there's, you can't dedicate any more time to it. The information is obviously not here. And probably time to get back to the safe house because there's equipment delivery coming from Winston. New toys either tonight or tomorrow morning and you're supposed to then hit the farmstead. So I hit the road. Yeah. Hit the road. Good try. Nothing found though. Which when you get back to the safe house Michael Flay tells you with a much more extensive amount of resources and information in his fingertips. We have the Ages Kydora website. He can't be pretty empty as well. So it seems to be a bit of a mystery right now. What's the plan for the rest of the evening? Do you remember getting anything useful on that interview? Seriously, no one has notes on that interview. Tranny thought that Danny was a serial killer. Um, the name Ransom, but spelled weird. Figured prominently. She was able to break into his computer one night and refine some information out based on using that particular password. The daughter's name was Gracie who was brought home. She disappeared. There was a school day she never came home. Danny was quite frantic when he got home from work that she hadn't returned, went out, came back with her, but she looked unwell. He took her into the basement, locked her away, scared the shit out of his wife by saying don't do anything. And before she knew it he was taking Gracie with him to the farmstead to start a commune or something. But as far as she knew when he was taking her to the farmstead she was alive. As far as she knew. Yeah. Who's Libby? Libby, I believe, is the current daughter of the happy couple, Jenny Craig. I found him. Oh yeah. It was one silver claw hammer, one silver tipped steak, ten silver bullets, a 38 caliber, and a mysterious journal with pristine pages. Jenny Browning, does that know where Danny is? She is a battered wife, that's a question mark. We don't know what happened on Danny's last night. No one else seems to be looking for Danny. She is more afraid of Danny than her abusive husband. And she finds four separate prints on the weapons. There is blood on the weapons. The blood appears to be more recent than the known date of death of the two missing people. No, the guy who specifically owned the house. Oh, let's see. The info is contained in an ancient book in the Athens special archive. Do we have any idea what already clues what the deal is with the heads and why they stole it and how it's going to save his daughter? The current theory we're working with is that the head is what Renson required for him to get his daughter back. Do you need to have to get the daughter back or do you need the head to cure her from whatever attacked her and did something for her? You don't know anything to do with her. So that's a whole bunch of suppositions down the line. We don't know. It's just not enough information. Anything that wants to be accomplished before you leave for the farm step next evening? Well, you just said that I did not get any response from the Athens. It just got your special library. I say, right before we go, you always just can't tell me what these artifacts do that they use. They're tools. The stake and the hammer. We can't tell you what they were intended to use them or why. I don't think they're all considered artifacts. You'd be taking them otherwise, I know. What I'm asking is... He's only known you like about a week and a half. He already knows. All of your other stuff. What he knows is... He knows Michael played. Mostly I want to know, can we bring them along with us? They might be useful to sway Danny Rockland one way or another. I don't know. They might be useful against whatever his daughter has become. Yeah, whatever it was attacking him did something to his daughter to change it into the same thing. So, if we can't find out what they do, could we at least find out if they're not dangerous? What about this poke though? To us. Kind of knowing the stake and hammer. I don't think the book will kill her. I'll look them over and say they're friend of youth, go ahead. Okay, fine. Hold the grudge, don't you? Then I'll bring them along personally if no one else is comfortable with it. I got a problem that we can use them to prove something to him. Yeah, you have. That might help us then. Oh, we've broken to his wife's garage. No, it wasn't his wife's wife. That was a friend of his. A friend of Ted. But you found four sets of prints, and do we want to start actually handling or using them? Do we need to keep them in somewhat... I'm going to share that from the FBI. Not that. I mean, that's my only point is that if you use your powers or your resources to investigate, are we going to ruin anything on them if we start using them and carry them around? Should it be in an evidence bag? It's busy too late now. I mean, I got the prints from one. You're okay? I don't know what else I can get from one. Mike, no more drugs. I would like you to hold the book without the writing. Maybe you can find some way to show. They have the writing show up. Can't read the writing. We're doing that now. I think we already did as much. That's what we were talking about with the archives and what Katie and I were both doing. It was like evolving the book, right? If anybody has a use for any of these other items, that's fine. If not, I will carry them. I don't think I have a caliber that can use the boards. Right. I already have some boards. It was a word work that was living in arms around each other. I don't remember. I don't remember. I don't remember. I don't remember. I have a Remington and a revolver, but beyond that, I don't know what caliber they are. It is for a revolver. Mike, you didn't write down what caliber they were? Yes, they were 38. I thought they were 38. You used to have a Glock. You switched over to the revolver because they're a revolver. They used a 38. Is it daring? Is this more? Not many. Also that. All right. So you are carrying the bolts in your revolver. Okay. Are your bolts with your revolver? I don't know if you have a loaded. That's up to you. I have a load. I have the hammer and the stake. I haven't used it yet. Are you good at weaponry? Is it challenging? It's a valid question. What you're doing in weaponry? What you're trying to do? I mean, and that also might be a clue too, is that the craftsmanship of the silvered stake and claw hammer isn't exactly great, right? No, it was the same. They were the same craftsmen on it. Yeah. So it definitely looks like it's impressive, but it was definitely homemade. Right. Right. Now the journal, the whole different animal. That's why Mike's got it. And I've got it. Oh, no. We already rolled for my attempt to use a cult and everything, and I didn't do so hard. And any... Well, I don't like to think of it as you didn't do so hard. I think it's a mystery. It remains a mystery. It did not reveal any secrets to me or... I mean, no one can just walk up with this and figure it out. Maybe. Right. You should scroll. You should scroll. Your body, eco. Maybe yes. Well, I did try calling some of my contacts, and I'm contacted Athens, and the response was that we didn't get any. We couldn't get eco for the sequel. He's not. I just want to hear Scott speak, right? Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. So everyone's sitting around basically, pizza boxes scattered all over the safe house, and your phone rings, too. Your cell phone. The cell phone that is not the siren cell phone. It's your public cell phone. Okay. I know that because it plays y'all a gun on the style. So I answered. This is a Special Agent 2 park. Agent Park, this is Jenny. You just left my house? Yes. I did think of something after you left. You said if anything would be helpful to know about Danny. And one thing I forgot to tell you was that his nickname for Gracie was Silverbone. Yeah. He called her Silverbone. His little Silverbone. And I don't know if that could be of any value at all and your investigation, but I forgot to tell you. Yeah. That might come with some use. Good night. Thank you very much. I hope everything's going okay for you this evening. Yeah. So I'm fine. Thank you very much. It's there. Just let me know. Thank you so much. It'll be fine. Thank you. Okay. Silverbone. So, after a few hangs up the phone, a dark van pulls into the driveway and your deliveries arrived. Mike, you're back in the field. You have two children who are with you seeing panicked Christmas carols as you're running across the field, back towards the way you came in, east to the road, the access road, which led you here to the farmstead. All right. Feeder demons are catamot. They're dissipating. They're coming back up. They're very fearful because you had blood in your mouth. You've cursed them. You've pushed them away with whites. You have the children trying to be not scared. But it's not completely working in the sense that they're completely fearless. They do sense the children are feeling peril. And I'm still pretty wounded. But you get the feeling that if the children weren't singing the songs and trying to block out the demons that are forming around them, that you probably would've attracted a host of them. So, you're actually happy, or at least not displeased, only have three or four of them swirling around you when it couldn't be much worse. You would just got even with the hillock passing to this alphabet, almost getting the children out of range of any sniper attack that might occur. So, what do you do? I keep the children singing, and I'm going to keep on moving, and Jay's last orders to me were to get the children to the vehicles. So that is what I'm trying to do. And I'm great to try to either, I still have my meditative mind on, so I am devoid or I'm centered. I'm in zen-like. Right. But... Right, but I'm also, I'm trying to use my light, and with the blood in my mouth, try to either talk to them or pass them with little things just to distract them as we move forward. As you're moving away into the woods. Right. Not into the woods, but down the path back to where the gate is in the car is correct. Right. That's what your general idea is. Right. Can you go order them to do things, or is it just asking questions? I can ask questions, but I, and the blood in my mouth forces them to answer, and so sometimes I try to ask questions that scare them or intimidate them, like I, I learned, I asked the question of what was the name of one of the demons, and he gave me the same questions they had to talk to. Right. Okay. Michael, you make eye contact with one of the Peter demons, you talk to it, ask question. It doesn't have to be something that you vocalize, it could be just a random question. Right. You want to do that? You can. Otherwise, I'd like to see a weaponry plus dexterity roll to try to key your flashlight onto another one or two of the demons to try to keep them at bay while you're leading the children to safety. So this is your, your instant action. This isn't your move action. You're still able to move, but you're talking while you're backing away, you're flashing the flash, what you got the children huddle around you as you're doing that so go. Five dice. Five dice. We'll say with asking the question and trying to focus on the children, a distraction of two dice. Two successes, one again. Two successes. Okay. You're actually able to get a beam on two different Peter demons, dissipating them in the light of your torch, is that great? I'm grabbing them. There's still one that's swirling around trying to get close, but it seems to be some light. Is that the one he's talking to? No, there's another one besides that. There's something that's swirling about that's trying to get in for a taste, but can not, just can't either sum up the courage or just can't quite get in, because you're flailing your flashlight all around and doing a very effective job of it. So there were four demons and others too? Correct to have dissipated, but you've seen this before, they usually come back up the next turn. So, well, I'm just trying to buy time as a designer. Right. And you make it, I mean, you move another, what's your normal movement? Eleven, but you're wounded so it's whatever it's down to. Well, it depends on what, if you're third box down, you're minus one, second box down, you're minus two, third box down, you're minus three. I'm in my last box, I think. You have one box open? Yeah. If you do, then you're minus two, which takes you down to nine every feet in a yard, which is 27 feet, so you make it about 30 feet. You're now somewhat sheltered by the hillock if the sniper's still available, which probably causes you a great deal of relief to get the children out of the open field and towards some more safety. I apologize. I'm minus three to all die rolls. Right. But it's just bashing in the last box, correct? It's not lethal. Right. Okay. Just bashing. Right. Um, we had Jim Bob and Thomas all tied at 10. I believe Sister Katie was the first of the three that were tied because at one point, she pulled some people out of the trailer and so they had bequeathed their tie to her. So I think you go first, Katie, you had been following. We just had you following behind, but you're probably 30 or 40 feet behind Michael Clay and the two children. So you're still in the middle of the field pretty open to a shot behind you where the fence line is. There is chew that was blasting away at a zombie if I'm not mistaken. And then further on, you know, the team through your headset, you know that Daniel has breached the house, the stone colonial and is halfway up the stairs. There's fires everywhere, by the way, you were here for the stealth helicopter as well? Yes. Okay. So yeah, that's that's still hovering above Jay in the, about halfway towards the stone colonial. It's halfway. I'm standing in front of it. Yes. And it just shot two canisters of some type of agent, some type of napalmish agent to wipe the house. I'm even more fire than it was originally. So the house is literally on fire. So Sister Katie, what do you choose to do? Oh, I don't know. Three seconds. Go. And it looks like you might need help getting the kids out and more getting the vehicles ready for it. So you're pulling out your ruler heading in that direction? Yeah. Okay. It starts cackling like a witch. I know. I'm trying to sit down, hit whatever demons are following the him and the kids. Okay. You, so you move a movement to get close to them actually since they moved your two movements away from them. So you're about 60 feet away. I'm Michael, by the way, I'm sorry, I totally forgot. When you did that weapons roll, you should have been minus two days from your wounds. You've been minus three days for your wounds, which would have been a chance die. But we'll take the one that hit. So we'll just say it was my fault. Not yours. All right. I should have reminded you of that. Okay. Sister. Yes. Same thing. If you want to aim your everything, you're moving in that direction. If you want to try. You can either jump home, move to catch up or single move still be about 30 feet behind and flash your flash like to try to save off the computer demons. Can I ask a question? Yes. Is there any chance that his meditative mind would help negate the minuses of his wounds? He's calming himself and it was seven months. I would have to have him look up the rules, if there's anything that it's all mental and not physical. So I would say probably not. I would give you a dice just for a go. I probably would give you a plus a die just for that. Shock is the biggest fear when you're injured and maybe the mental state might help. Yeah. No, I'm okay with that. I would give him a dice or two for the meditative mind. Oh, wait. Not even wound penalties all to my focus. Excellent suggestion, Jay. An excellent job of the notes there, Mike. Appreciate it. And for our audience, that's five minutes of temptation, you're never in here. Or maybe you will because it actually is a rule. Yeah. That was right. So if you were wrong, then you... Okay. Katie, are you double move? Katie's got a double move. Okay. Actually, I'm thinking that I'd like to get to the cards before they get there. Right. Okay. So you double move to catch up with the... So you're actually caught up with a grip. What is your movement? My movement. Is it minus three? If your third box is filled up, then yes it is. Um, then my speed is seven. Seven. Seven. So you're not close. That's 14. That's about 42 feet. You're about 60 feet behind them. So you're going to take 15 to 20 feet, Katie. Do you crop? You mean you definitely caught up, but not quite there. There's no... Is it... That's as fast as I can move, though. That's as fast as you can move. Three cheers to children. I'm vlogging, Mike. Pretty. Ah! I have to make a move. Five was next, and then Thomas was last as I'm going to go with. You're also not as chosen as you. Do I believe you shot the zombie last week spoke? Several times, yeah. Yes. I don't think it went down, however. You shot its arms, all the way out of one of its arms. One of its arms. I think it came off. But it's still moving in your direction, so your call is to what you prefer to do. How far is it away? Like how many turns until it's... Okay. Right fine. Is that the Belkry's zombie? Um... It's got a pistol. Belkry to be, so. Belkry. And these zombies, they don't double move, but they move relatively quick. So about one more turn, and he'll be. If you stand still, he'll be here at the end of your turn to take a bite or to try to know what it is. Because that's done. The thing isn't more continual for me. All right. I'm going to shoot him again with my shotgun. All right. Well, it's range to range, I believe. So, what's your dice pull? It's nine. It's pretty close. Mine is one for the darkness. I have a tactical light on it. Oh, okay. Excellent. In that case, no minuses for that. The zombie has a defense, which doesn't apply. Okay. On my dice. I'm going to go ahead and aim first. It's a penalty. Had I believed this was minus three? It would be six. That's not good. I missed. Completely. Completely. Okay. If you have a movement action as well, I'm going to back up because this thing is coming at me. So. What'd you speed? Fast. Better than a zombie. My speed is nine. All right. You basically have back up to the road, not the road, but the pathway leading to the house and to the hillock. And as you're backing up, you kind of forget as you're obviously paying attention to the zombie. Here's a creature like right next to you as you're walking, you know, past, some creature that's kind of flailing, strapped to the fencing as you back up and pass by. So you know, that's like kind of resting in your mind as well. Things are looking up. I want to know that the true park broke my fucking dice. I just said. Eighteen of them. And I got one success. You broke them. It's a bad box. You're the ones. What? I have it. Thomas. Go. I had the shit left. I was running closer to the civilian. The civilian. The civilian. The civilian. The civilian. The civilian. But I think Daniels is clear. The building is on fire. Yeah, it's down on fire. So I don't really want to go in there anymore. Do you need help? Daniel? Nothing new. Yeah. To hear how bad shots you are. Oh, fuck you. I killed something today. He used to be better. We was almost sure. But it wasn't. I don't need that. Yeah, I think so. Yes. I'll turn around and go back. This is exciting. Well, there is a stealth helicopter hovering. Well, there is a stealth helicopter hovering over... Yeah, but all the guys, just the... Chuck it. I just need it. If you're going to run back... You're better at throwing at the shooting. If you're going to run back down the path, you're going to be running right towards the stealth helicopter. Just covering maybe 100 feet off the ground or so. I remember what? Cover. Trees. Side. Don't run down the middle. I'm a football field. Colorado tells me. Yes. Colorado says only I had like one movement left, so I was right at the door. But I can't remember. I came directly from wherever the hell that... I might need to drag his body out of the house. Yeah, but I am literally the worst person to do that because my strength is won. I mean, I feel like a brother. I have to be strong, guys. You would think. I'm not. I don't even think I could pick up Daniel and drag him. Sister Kay, he's better at dragging his bodies out of places than you are. You get down here one way, but then none's burlier than you are because he's harassing children. He's like whipping a rosary. Do another thing. I'm a pastor. Don't be scared. I wanted to do something to check out what's with this place that makes everyone who dies here zombies or cult-wise, but this is not the time. Yeah, lab work. It's in the trailer. You can't lab work from hundreds of miles away. It's fucking magic. Well, you can't lab work in the middle of a firefight either, can you? No. I was looking for something to grab to take back so we can do the magic when we're not here because it looks like this whole thing is going to be burnt down. How about you give me instructions to do something? What are you going to grab? Three seconds. Anything. Grab something significant. Grab the Dixie cups in the trailer. That's a joke. Send me a bagging on the trailer. Fuck you. I'm like, will I go back in there for a minute? No. I ain't nowhere near the trailer, but you're the strength for a Dixie cup, right? Oh, thank you, Daniel. This thing's first. I'm going to try to find a place where I can hide from this helicopter. Oh, right. Do we... Is this shit on fire? Everything's on fire. Point something. I'll tell you, it's on fire. Even the fire's on fire. The only thing that's not on fire is the silos. There's someone over there. Shall we go kill them? Okay. Yeah, right. Who? There's a guy on the silos. There's some guy bloody left over there, and it might be that he ran over here. We kind of lost track. Yeah. Definitely lost track. Fucking reconnaissance. It's practically my job. I'll go do that. All right. Any objections? Stated. Close to building. Stated cover. Go get chat. You double moved? She has a helicopter. I'm going to target me. Yeah. That's a good risk to take. That's more of a prayer than a statement there. Yeah. I'll double move to the silos. I don't know how far that is. I can probably make it though. I will say that based on where you were, you could definitely make it the silos with double move. I'm going to go ahead and make a perception check as you're running towards the silos. What's the composure? Yes. Five, nine, three, because I'm dead as hell. Yes. Two. Nothing. Yep. Looking good. Yep. We're on towards the silos. There are doors at the base of each of the three silos. There's lots of hay about. Looks quite old. They're going to hit this place now. There's a tree line, obviously, to the south of silos as well. But you're barreling down and have almost made it to the first, the closest silo and. The line is for sprinting. To what perception? To perception. There's so much light now. I would assume that you're kind of hyper-aware. So I gave you no minuses now. Okay. That's Thomas' turn. That takes us to the zombies. The zombie keeps staggering towards you. It's moving about 30 feet of turn. So it's shambling quickly. This is no walker, you know, this thing moves. So I don't want to give you an idea. It's like really damaged though. Does it get a minus to its sprint for being also injured? It's a zombie. I'm pretty sure it probably dissolves the meditative state. Damage points. Yeah. Well, it's in a meditative state, all right. It's closing down on you, but not as much. You move nine away. Nine yards. It moved ten forwards. And it tries to raise an arm to shoot the gun, thinking it's still had it, but its hand is now on. All it happens is it fails to hurt Juni's significant way. And any other zombies that are about, you guys don't know about. So that takes us down to, I guess, Daniel Morgan. Morgan. You'll remember, you were in a house with a boatload, a literally paper with photographs of a 14-year-old girl. These look like good things to take. That is true, a narrow one. There's tons of them. To be fair, though, the outer shell of the house is on fire. Even some of the interior walls are starting to smoke and spark and catch fire as well. Okay. This wouldn't slow me down. The stairway, the stairway that you're on, that's not the outer wall to your left, but the actual support wall to your right as you're coming out the stairs, that's on fire now. Not as much as the outer part of the house, but still on fire. You're someone who's used to situations that are a bit dangerous, being a lasting wilderness individual. Yeah. You realize that your situation is incredibly precarious right now. You might have, you're guessing, maybe 30 seconds before... That's 10 turns. Yes. That is 10 turns. All right. I put my foot through the stairs the last time I was here. Yes, you did. I barely managed to bring myself out in the stairs collapsing now. Well, yes. They are collapsing a bit. You have three more stairs to make it to the top of the stairway. There's a landing there, and there's a door, that's slightly a jar that you've heard. No, it's coming from. Noises coming from. It's not the door that the sniper would have been in. You shot the slu... Did I keep track of that? No, I didn't shoot the sniper. He was aiming to be in the shot? No, that was one of the test horse companies. Do you mean the... Oh, that original sniper? Yes. Don't call him no. This, depending on what's behind that door, could potentially be if it's a longer room. Okay. Then I sprint out the rest of the stairs and kick the door open. Ah, yes. Making athletics. Lost dexterity. Holding that fall back through the stairs as they're burning around you and starting to weaken substantially. I have dexterity. Two, and athletics is one. Awesome. Yeah. Am I just one die for your giganticism? There doesn't be advantageous. It's time to reach up the stairs. I rolled a nine. All right. The first stair you step on starts to give and you frame your other foot up quickly and as you push down to do so, your foot kind of, you know, the stair gives way, but you don't lose your balance. You charge up two more stairs, swing open the door, and you see a long, narrow hallway running the back of the house. There are two windows on your left hand side, which would be the back of the back wall, the home, the stone colonial. To your right is you look down the hallway. There are three doorways on the far end of the hallway. It seemed to end with the window, which would be the north side of the house. Okay. And this side is the side I entered, so he's probably in the back room down here. There was definitely a window that was right above this doorway that he was firing from. Oh, so the second door, if I'm joking. Second door would seem to be correct. Second door on the right. Second, reach that. Oh, he can reach it. In this three seconds. Yes. He can? Four minutes? Yes. I will do that. All right. You move across the back hallway to the second door. It is locked. All right. The doors in the walls are smoking, so the interior walls here are smoking, and there's a little licking of flames here or there. The door itself is not a very strong door. It's not anything that looks like it's reinforced or something kind of crazy door. And matter of fact, you would think if you heard noises coming from here, the door should be pretty thin. The doors are where the noises are coming from. Yeah. I can hear them in the absence of it. You can still hear like some, you can get the flames making noise, kind of noisy. There's like a lot of ambient noise, but yet I see there's some growling coming from that room. The door knobs hot? Because I just tried to open it and it was locked. Yes. The door knobs hot. It's warm. It is fire on the other side of the room. So it's just going to aggravate the fire if you kick this open, but I need to get in. So I put the boot in as hard as I can, brace myself against the wall and just try to kick it in. Go ahead and make a wall plus strength. Use your head. That's dumb. It's screaming. Oh yeah. Seriously. I can't play a character as a breakthrough wall. Okay. Let's see. Go ahead and build a mountain man. This is your fault. I thought giant was a cool merit. It is. Here's really it's not school. This is four dice. And if I have any willpower, yes I do, I'm still burning that now, whatever. All right. I need to get in here. Yes you do. I don't want to spend extra time not being in here. Seven dice. Go ahead. Kick away. Three successes. One of them, ten. Just three. Awesome. You kick right where the door handle is. Your foot absolutely knocks the lot off of its latch. The door flings open and just as everyone predicted from the flames or in the interior wall. Shoot out the doorway, but luckily the interior wall was not as on fire as the rest of the outer part of the building is. So there's a small back draft from the opening of the door and your armor for a non-bullet is one, two worst fire. Your cinch for one point of lethal damage. Okay. And as you peer through the door, you see what looks to be a small bedroom on the floor up against the bed, his head's against the bed, his leg, his feet are across the floor is the body of Danny Rock one. He looks much more shape than that. His eye is just a bloody mess. Looks like he doesn't even have an eye. He looks, not him, though. He looks worn, his skin is more leathery, his beard is way past and he kind of five o'clock shadow. It's like a five day. He's not on fire. He's not on fire, he's lying on his back, he's groaning with his left hand, the hand towards the door because he's lying perpendicular to you, reaching out toward you with his left hand. There is what looks to be almost like an antique sniper rifle, like an older sniper rifle and he's reaching out with his left hand. Straddling over Danny is a task force Valkyrie agent. He's gotten Danny by the neck and his face is literally inches from Danny's face. You could tell, by the way, his muscles are tensed. He is probably squeezing the life out of Danny. In his other hand, he has a gun. You catch him from a side profile, but when the door kicks open, he looks at you in full and you are quite stunned to see that his eyes, the irises of his eyes are in orange tissue yellow and it's not the reflection of any flame in the room. He has things. He looks very much like this. He is screaming into the face of Danny. Where is the girl? Where is the girl? He's snarling, spitting and when he looks at you, his eyes just look like he is absolutely enraged. And at the end of your turn, it's not like a chemistry and powerful. The beautiful redheaded nun, katieokanner, played by Jim, working for Jim, working for the man. Well, literally working for the man, working for the man, working for our kids, we are hiring right now. You were heading towards St. Patrick's in Ohio City to do some research at the library there. The church has. After the small library. We're not a lot back there. Actually, Jay's not a lot back there. Oh, okay. I was all of us. I didn't carry a sniper rifle into the tower. It's a lot of them come back and worship as they please. So you haven't said that you're 10 Hail Mary's and haven't done my repentance. Well, he's a mother of a adult. I'm an emmedal. Professioning. Shock is the biggest fear when you're injured and maybe the mental state might help. Yeah, no, I'm okay with that. How would he even die, sir, too, for the meditative mind? Oh, wait. Not even wound penalties all to my focus. Excellent suggestion, Jay. An excellent job of the notes there, Mike. Appreciate it. So if you're an audience, that's five minutes of connotation, you're never in here. Or maybe you will. Because it actually is a rule. Yeah. I was right. So if you were wrong, then you would just be faster than a zombie. But you're the strength for addiction, Catherine. Oh, thank you, Danny. I want to know that Chew Park broke my fucking dice. I just said 18 of them and I got one success. You broke them. It's a bad luck. You're the one who's left in my habit.
