[music] Hello and welcome to Knights of the Night Actual Play podcast. This World of Darkness story chagrin was written in Ron by her storyteller Scott. [music] And now, please enjoy episode 109, titled "Wounds." Actual play starts one minute and forty-seven seconds. No feedback this week because we don't have time for it with the holidays, but we wanted to take just a moment to wish all of our fans a happy holiday, merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah to everybody. Kwanzaa, Andrew Kwanzaa, all of those. Come on, come on outside. Happy holidays everyone, hope you enjoy the episode. Alright, this is Scott, the storyteller for World of Darkness, chapter 4 of our current story chagrin, which takes place along the Chronicle Vanishing City. With me to my right is... Jim, playing Kidio Connor, crazy nun driver. Bob, playing FBI Special Agent Chew Park, member of the Vescue conspiracy. Tom, playing Jay Alton, leader of this Miley crew. Mike, playing Michael Clay, member of the Ages Kaidoru. Thomas, playing Ed Godman, Tase, a voodoo and practitioner from the Lay Mysteries conspiracy. John, playing Daniel Morgan, mountain man, turn mercenary of the TFE, or Task Force Valkyrie. That's your initial impression as you run to that place. That takes us to the sniper. Me? What sniper? Which one? About that one. Shit. The one on the top of the house. The one on my face, look at me. The one time I don't pan down. It's actually been several turns since you've been down. But it's been six seconds since you last fired a shot into the area. Just to be clear. Does he really want to draw my attention? Yes. Apparently. Well, remember, I'm running your full spread out in the open, so... Jay, you are prone. Which gives you-- I am prone. Gets him minus two dice for that. Sniper duel. Sniper fight. And your armor is-- Have our one slash two. He died that bullet. What is it? One slash two. So two. Two of any cover from the hill. You know, if you shoot at your head, all this time it is your head. So I'm going to give you the advantage, Jay, of saying that your shoulders and your upper chest are exposed on this hill. So I don't take a headshot? No, not so much that. It gives you your advantage of your kevlar. You're right. So that gives you the two dice. Yeah. It ended up being pretty impressive. One turn. It's not bad, does it? Nah. Like 27 dice. Wow, it wasn't bad at all. Some successes. You feel a bullet. You hear the collision of the round that you've heard before. The same sound of the gun that took Desi right off of her bike. But you feel a sting on your right side of your neck. And you know immediately you've been shot. But you also know that you're incredibly lucky because it could have been much, much worse than that. But you take one lethal damage as the bullet rips open the side of your neck but misses your carotid and just caught some flush. And it didn't even penetrate me. It just basically grazed you. And you thank your lucky stars. I thank Alba. You thank Alba too. You're a crescent star. You're a crescent star. Yes, you thank your crescent stars. So we're wearing a Kevlar downgrades the damage to bashing. But if you've got shot in your neck, I don't think that would be a factor. That's what that'd be. It was, well, it's where the wolves are a little dicey. Let's just go with one lethal because I gave you the advantage of the Kevlar even though you're aiming for your head. Right. So yeah, let's just say one lethal. But great point to you. Under normal circumstances I think that would definitely apply. Sure. And that takes us to me. He's looking at you like he's just a gasp that you're here. You can't believe that you, there's anguish, there's pain. And you're killing civilians. But we don't have time for this. There are two snipers. I wave my hand with the noise. Stay down and don't drop my sniper's attention. He's got a beat on you. You shot that out? That's what you said? Oh, I shot him. Yeah, I do. A lot of whisper. We're talking in American suddenly. Whatever he was doing to convict him most like this. Yeah, I was all on Belfry sign language. Okay, so you shouted him across the quiet... Is that how he shouted? Did he shouted him? He was... What the hell are you doing here? That's your fan. Okay, so can you phrase that again? Because he got three seconds to convey an emotion to him and try to convince him. Well, I'm using hands as well. I wave at the shot that was just fired. I say two snipers, one's mine. He's got a beat on you. Stay more down and we'll discuss this later. Okay, that to me sounds like you're trying to use persuasion on him. Yeah, I'm also using threats. Can I threaten him with my sniper? Is that in the physical threats range? No, it depends on how you're doing it. You're good, right. Are you threatening him? In a way you are because you're saying he's going to get shot if he doesn't listen to you. So I think I can allow interrogation maybe with a minus? Intimidation. Sorry, intimidation with the minus? I thought interrogation was a skill and I was like, "I'm not really doing that yet." Right. All right. So, go ahead and intimidate him? I have a bonus in physical threats, but I mean the bullet is certainly physical, but I'm not about to punch him. Well, it's your WITS+ intimidation and your equipment bonus for a sniper who can take his head off is going, "Well, come out your Dysar. WITS+ Intimidation." I have three full WITS and intimidation. If I can use the physical threat, it's four, but I'm just going to hit him. I've got six total here. Okay, so it's three, but you have a specialty in physical threat? Yes. Oh, you can use that. Okay. That's seven. That's seven. Plus your equipment of your, the sniper that just blew out. I haven't conveyed how powerful the sniper is. Oh, I think he might be here at all. No, he's, I think he's here at all. No, he's, I think he's here at all. Yes. Two equipment bonus. Okay. And plus one for friendship, because he's torn now. Those go threats. Friendship. Ready. Go hand in the hand. It's at all. I'm going to go hand in the hand. Warring training when I kicked your ass. And I'm going to give you, I'm not going to give you anything. You just gave me ten dutch. Yeah, I'm not going to give you ten dutch. Yeah, I'm not going to give you ten dutch. Yeah, I'm not going to give you ten dutch. You're not going to give me ten dutch. Yeah, I'm not going to give you ten dutch. Yeah, I'm not going to give you ten dutch. He's really worried about him. You have to worry about something completely different. I've rolled three successes. Not four? That's it. It's nine. Okay. One's a ten. So, hold on. I'm threatening about sniper rifle. Does that mean he eats? Yeah. Eight against. I've just got four successes. That wasn't exceptional. Just, just four. This is a contested roll. Well, pans it out. No, you rolled three successes. Two. Ten again. Two more. Ten again. Oh, shit. He manned up. That, you know, himself dead. Five. You didn't even get himself dead. Ten again. Six. Wow. Brought the gun. Done. Done, alright. She's. Holy shit. With five dice, he rolled six successes. That's extremely lucky. It's extremely unlikely. Betrayal wins out. He is absolutely devastated that you're here and you took the information he gave you, which he thought you would use to calm yourself and not worry. He had an under control and he was coming here. He wasn't caught. And you totally backstab him and have come here with a who knows who. So, he lowers his gun. I run. Add him. Mm-hmm. All I have done so far is spoken. So, I think I can attack him now. Three feet. Yes, you can run through his three feet, but he's 50 feet away from you. Can't double move into his face? No, because you talk. He will try to intimidate. So, you have to move with, I'll have your turn with taking up through that. But you can't move towards him if you want. I try to get in the way of Jay Shuff. You have a general idea. You have a way to cover it. Jay Shuff? Yeah. You're going to kill this guy. I've now seen you accidentally shoot a sniper. I mean, you're allowed to talk to Jay. Can you not shoot him? He has a weight action on killing this guy. No, he does. No, I don't. Oh. And that's the money gaming anyways. You just go for it. You should stay. Then tell Jay Shuff. Tell him whatever you feel. I'm going to get dead from this guy. The longest three seconds in the history series. That's okay. That's okay. I don't have time to talk anymore. I just run out of him. Okay. Yeah, but you have a growlic baron chart. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I thought you had to be that one. You could react to his action now. He didn't check that for whatever reason. He drops his gun towards you. He's like, you hit the hell out of here. So you see the gun drop and it is the guy could fire. But you see him point towards him and he starts pointing this way. And he puts a hand on the dog. Oh, shit. I'm looking at the dog. I'm bum rushing this guy and there's a dog. You got a brawling. You can kill the show. It's like a puppy to you. Well, I mean, keep in mind you've been standing out in the middle of an open field in a war zone. It's probably best to get in the treeline anyways. Yeah. Okay. Let's go ahead and start with Michael Clay. You see this going down because you're running towards him and you see him shouting at somebody. You saw the gentleman in the woods as well. You saw a task force about the agent in the woods. Did you know? No. I only saw the laser sight. You saw the laser sight. You didn't say I saw a form. Right. You see an argument basically and sue between two people. I see him running like he's attacked. Then you see him running with a growl and it's hard, but the other guy is not attacking him. You see that quite clearly, but he's also threatening him by pointing a gun at him. What is the range that he's at right now? From you? Not Daniel, the other person. About 80 feet. So that's well within the story. Oh, my ass. Okay, I move closer and I see that he has a dog too, right? But you see and hurt everything I did. Yeah. I see the dog. You have to do a perception role because I've already seen. Yeah, you see the dog. Okay. Never a stuffy dog. No. Not anymore. Okay. When you charge, it kind of got off off his haunches, which is why he reached down and grabbed it. Can I move, draw my pistol and level it, but not fire and say something or draw my pistol? No, you can move and draw your pistol and take a beat on somebody, but you can't aim. No, I'm not. I do have weapons training. So, I... You have fast draw? I do not have fast draw, but if you take your weapon out, you can aim it towards him, but you can't actually get a +1 next turn for him. I understand. And I say, draw through the agent, drop your weapon or you'll be fired or fired. All right. Yeah. He says it out loud and he says it over the headphones. Everybody here as well. I was running through the audio range. Sure. Your shot. That's what they call that. Yeah. After running, you know, moving forward to the first pace for his full move, but his full move. Whatever. Yeah. Sorry, I'm barking things down. And he doesn't tell like he's whispering it. No. He says it loud and clearly, and I don't recognize the person. I just recognize him as... You didn't realize it was incredibly brave because you had just heard a sniper rifle report and a... From Jay, you know, a little grunt as he was fired upon. So, I mean, like you're moving across this field, you see a flash come from that... But I know where you're in your... You're nowhere near Jay, right? You're nowhere near him, but you saw him. I mean, basically you saw the stone... You see a flash come from that window, and you hear Jay grunt in pain, and you're moving across this open field. So, I'm just saying. Well, that's what I thought he did shoot at me, so... That's insane, right? I'm doing what my leader told me. Jay, you're up. Winning the rifle up to the upper window of the stone colonial. And... Covered fire. Fire. Heavy fire. What can I target in the window that he's got? Because I have a really good feeling that this is the guy we're looking for, and they do not want to kill him. But... You've got it. I do have tranks. That's what you're saying. Thomas, they're laying on the ground next to me. It would take me a full turn to kick a car's job. You shoot the weapon. The way it works. Quick game system analysis. When someone is firing from cover, which I didn't give you much, I have you at the top of this hillock, basically. So, I did not give you cover, which subtracts from someone's ability to hit you. There were other minuses, but that wasn't one of them. When someone is firing from cover, they get to keep that cover, but they take the minus. When they come out to fire, they take the minus of the cover. So, he has just about, I mean, there is a hole for a rifle and a scope, and that's what he's firing from. He has almost... You're completely covered. What you can see, basically, is a rifle and a scope, and that's it. And you can only see because it's got a little bit of a heat register from firing the weapon because there's no... You know, the night vision goggles aren't giving you much from that distance. I mean, you're talking at this point. Shit the gun. To the stone colonial, that's probably a good 150 yards. It's at least double the distance from the Morton building that you just did a shot at. So, you're looking at 150 yards through your scope. That's still close, right? Yeah, it is. You can see the gun. You can see the scope. Shit. You could probably see an eyeball on the other side of that scope. It's a pretty big minus, but I mean, he's got almost complete cover. I'm going to judge by the window where he would be standing. I mean, I'm assuming he's standing up right now. He's standing in a table. I'm just saying there's a lot of things. Absolutely. He could lay on a table. He could do whatever. Right. But if I shoot him down this barrel of the gun, I'm going to hit this guy in the eye, and he's going to die. Most likely. Yeah. I am going to shoot below where he is. I'm going to punch it right through the wall, and I'm going to try to hit him in the leg. OK. That is heavily. It looks to you in your right scope to be heavily fortified. There's definitely wood across there. There's brick. You know, it's a small window, and it's got a little opening there. So, are you aiming for like the wood, which would just be to blow his eye a little bit? No. Or the brick, which is even further down, but much more defensible and harder to get a bullet through. Yeah. I'm going to have to aim for the brick. I don't want to put a bullet through this guy's eye. I could, but I don't want to. And you couldn't aim for the barrel? If I hit the gun, it's going to brick a shade right down the barrel into his face. He's worried he's going to take his face off. This is the guy we're looking for. OK. This is where he would be. You know what I mean? I'm spending a fake. We don't risk it. We don't risk it. No, we don't. I could, no, because I already risked. You know, I do want to see. Yes. You have to spend it. I'm sorry. Pick up. So, I have a total of 16 dice. Oh, damn. You know, your pride does tell you you can make it shine. Oh, I know. I grew up with this guy's eye. I have no doubt about it. OK. I'm just saying. But that's not the point here. This is the guy we came to get. Can't you aim for the gun and not for his eye? I'd have to have an angle on the gun. I'm looking right at the gun. Because he's looking right at me. You just shot it. I'd have to shoot, like, from the side to hit the gun without hitting him. You're such an awesome person. Can you shoot it? Oh, I'm going to brick a shade off. But you're eating. Well, if you could shoot that accurate, what could you shoot at the brick below his gun to shoot shards of the brick? That's basically what I'm doing, is I'm trying to hit into the brick and, no. I might want you to shoot the brick and I might also just shard the brick into it. I don't know, a bait shot. You could tell all your sniper buddies at the bar. That'd be pretty impressive. I hit the mailbox. He goes through the door, up the stairs, around the corner. So, what do you do? Is this a impressive fire pretty much? What's the toast then? Shoot this guy right in the nuts. I'm hoping they give him a reason not to want to stick his hat out again. Go ahead and make your roll. There's no minus for distance. There's no minus for darkness. You've got to scope with night vision. You know exactly where you want to hit. Now, you're trying to go through... I'm going through a brick wall. I understand that. So, again, for our listeners and for gamers. Oh, I am not doing that. Is that minus today? No, not during the last couple of hours. I remember not here. A brick or any other object has a durability rating. That is how many hits it can take before you actually start doing damage to it. It's almost like its own armor. Right. Brick has a durability of two. Now, it has a durability of two, but it also has a structure. Okay. Which is how tough it is. And I suppose brick walls. Hardness. Right. Almost as if you will. Yes. But it's structure. And so, anyways, go ahead. The only rule of four. The only rule of four? Oh, no. And there's a fifth there. There's our fifth. A fifth is now there. Total five. So an exceptional success. Yes. Which is great. To give you an example, a wooden door has a durability of one. So you have to do at least one damage to it. And then you start affecting its structure. Its structure is seven. Or six, excuse me. A metal door would be durability of three. So you have to do at least four damage to do any kind of damage to it. And then its structure would be eight. I'm going to say that an interior wooden door is a little stronger. That's got durability of two. And its structure is between six and eight. So I'll give it a structure of, let's say, seven. So you did the one damage is white. The other four go to the seven. But it was such an impressive exceptional shot that you actually took all seven of the structure out. So you basically shot through the brick wall and caused a bit of a hole to go into it. But the bullet had expended all of its energy before it reached whoever was there. But you have definitely, what you see now through your scope is his thigh. Basically of a man that's standing there. Like I would hope that the brick went into the room. It definitely blew into the room. And through your sniper rifle from where you're aiming, you can see his buckled bit in the pant leg shredding as the bits of brick in mortar just basically go into his leg. But that's a good description of how that works. You're like over 500 feet from this place. You got a great scope. That is an awesome scope. It's what I do. Hopefully he'll notice that you were not trying to kill him. So he'll return to that guy. That would be really nice. Katie, chew your own deck. Try to figure out where everybody is and where exactly I am again. You're only going to look. Which is the circle. Yeah. You guys are where? Really near this fence here. And down a little bit. Montez went up to this trailer. That's a close up jib. They are from there. They are from there. And then the guy who's shooting is in the colonial. Right. My sniper friend's over here. I rushed him. My sniper friend. Because Jay's not your sniper friend. My sniper boss. Jay's your fucking sniper boss. Don't talk to a lot about sniper boss. Do you realize you're wearing a headset, right? You're going to have to get a 2000 year restraining order. If I could just find a big rifle. I'll run from the hill. I could do that if I could do a benediction. No more. You can do a normal speed movement which is probably 9 inch or so for you. I'm not sure what your speed is. You could do that. And a benediction. But you'll be very, very far away from them. I'm the one who needs the low car and I couldn't get into it. But I just want to power up with a virtue. What I get all my willpower back. If you would use your bike, you would get all your willpower back. To the detriment. Which for you, Katie, would mean that you had to be envious. Like Jay's stealing the show with all his sniping and stuff. I'm going to go out there and do something better and put yourself in harm's way. And the group in harm's way. That could be worth. And God's better than your God. Yeah, I'm sure she's not pleased with the Allah Akbar. They didn't bother me, I'm just saying. And we're asking Jay where you guys need me. Can you save her? I mean I just temporarily stunned the bleeding there. You're giving some time. Where do you need me now? I think we're going to have to talk to the Valkyrie guys. Talk. I'm not good at that. Alright. I'm already half on that. No. Did you say that alone? I'll just do it. I'll just do it on the radio in a minute. Yeah. Discussion with the Valkyrie people and a stalemate of some sort. I'm just going to start once again. What did your benediction do when you gave everyone willpower? How did that manifest itself real quick if you don't mind? Set a quick prayer. And... Did they glow? Did you glow? No. Did your hands show the healing power of the Lord? It says nothing about blowing. Her pistol glue, when she... I just... Blowed. You... Blowed. That's a glow. Okay. You're... Just okay, Jim. You can look at that. You're starting with your benediction again. I don't think you're correct. No. I was inspiring others to my own little works. So we... The spiritual rewards and virtue enriceness. Okay. Chew. How far is the mobile home from where I'm at? Where... Ed Gutter is. Um... 100... Wait. You're on the hillock, right? Yeah. He's on the hill at the top of the hillock, basically. And the mobile home is probably in additional... It's about 30 feet down there. Would I expose myself to the sniper? Oh, absolutely. Yeah. Alright. Well, I don't know if you're behind it. I don't know. The... The mobile... Which sniper? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. The sniper... It's like the which sniper. It could be fair. The sniper in the Stone Colonial just shot. And then it was just shot. So you figure you've got a second or two before he reloads at least before he's going to fire. And hopefully, Jake has just shot him. Second or two to move 30 feet. I don't think I can do it. What's your speed? It's at least ten. That's exactly what you can do. It's three feet per speed. One yard per speed. Oh, after I shoot, I moved down the hill like a bit. Oh, okay. You forgot to mention that. I forgot I didn't use my movement. You're totally out in the open, Jake. I mean, not you. Oh, no. Not me. On the top of the hill, like he just crawled back down. I am behind him. So you crawl back down? No, I'm behind him. No, you guys were side by side. You were spotted. I was spotted with my camera. Oh, you can move the viewfinder down. There's no way I'm being a line of fire. Are you kidding me? Sure. Fair enough. You're camera... I'm sorry. I thought I meant that clear. No, you didn't make a clear. I thought you were a little bit... Because I need to be close to where we're going. I had my hand up. That's the only thing that's exposed. It's covered by the camera. You have any money? The camera. It would be a miracle shot to try to hit my hand. He's not first to do those. He just hit Jake. I mean, Nick. I just hit his leg through a fucking ball. That's true. I saw that. Pretty impressive. What are you doing? Jake, just crawl back down the hill. Your hand's up there all by itself. Yeah, I think my hand comes down a little bit. For sure. So my speed would be strength plus dexterity plus five. What for your size? So it's nine. You can get within three feet, which is basically... You can get the fence line right behind it if you dash. And you think you have the time before he fires again. That's kind of brave. It does sound on the tube, like, to be honest. Internet. We've got this code. Where's the Valkyrie? He is to your kind of clock or so. 9.30, somewhere in that ballpark. There's your hill. Here's your trailer home. Phil trailer home. And he's down here. Oh. He's over there? Yes. He's a little farther away, though, than that looks. He's several hundred feet, probably away from you to the south. The trailer's just 30 or 40 feet in front of you to the north. I really want to kind of see what's going on in the trailer. I think he'd be of some use in there. Okay. I've seen that Jake kind of distracted the sniper. It looks like a sniper battle. I'm going to say... Cover me. And I'm going to get out of there. As Jake crawls down the hill. Yeah, I'm going to do that. I'm going to all out run. And then... As soon as I get close, I'm going to kind of just hit the ground. Okay. You basically get up. You're out of crouch, right? You stand up. You run over the top of the hill. Up to this point, you've only seen the trailer in your viewfinder of your camera. As you crest the hill, it starts running down. You start to feel nauseous. You feel like bile rising in your throat. Like even back in your mouth starts to water. And all of a sudden you're back in truth or consequences, New Mexico. Where you were born and raised. That's the name of the town. It's the name of the town. What pretty awesome. What the hell of the town were you... Right next to let's make a deal. You remember? It's when you were probably about seven years old or so. You don't know if you're having a flashback basically. And you're in your father's trailer home. And your mom and dad are separated. Here's your old dad. Oh. He's a asshole. He beats you. And you're... It's the human party. It's the height of summer, about 105 degrees outside the desert. I guess I'm half-aided in. You're not Korean. You're inside this disgusting, disgusting trailer home. You can't be more than seven years old and you're powering in a corner. And your dad is just in alcohol-induced rage. And he is literally just beating the shit out of his girlfriend. She's not even moving anymore. His fists are just raining down on her face and on her body. All you hear is the dull thud of his hammer blows that are coming down. And you are just terrified. And you try to look away at every where you look. It's just two or seven year old minds. It's terrifying. There's jars of yellowish liquid. And there's table plots that are just stained with blood and colored stains. There's clumps of browned meat just hanging with your dad through a plate against the wall. Just the meat just sticks there and just smells, flies all around. And then in a corner, in one corner, there's a soil wash tub. And you really try not to look there. You know, even when your dad, like, is forcing your head over the side of it to look in there and he's got any bite of hair. And he's basically as asphyxiating you as your neck is pressing against the side. If I'm trying to get you to look into it, you refuse to look into the tub. That's the flashback. It just hits you in a wave of nausea as you're coming down the hill. If you see the trailer home that looks remarkably like a trailer home from your past. You scurry down the hill, dirt's kicking up, stones, pebbles. You get to the fence. You dive down next to Edgard and you're breathing heavier than you should be from the run. Because it just took you back to when you were seven years old. Good times. Yeah, good times. That takes us to Edgard. Obviously, you hear the footballs. You hear a cover me from, you choose voice and you knew it was on top of the hillock. You hear the footballs. You're not startled. Kicks up some dust and slides to stop next to you. And when he gets to text you, he looks absolutely pale. He's breathing really heavily and looks like he's going to throw up. That's like 30 feet, man. See you fucking duck. Dude, you work out. That's unfortunate. Feeder demons, I guess. I don't feel so good. Alright, I'm going to go in first because you just got here. Now remember, you're behind the trailer. There's two windows that are maybe five or six feet off the ground because this thing is up on concrete blocks. So the windows are at least six feet off the ground. You don't know if you would assume there's a front door on the other side of it. But you'd have to climb the fence and expose yourself to the sniper in order to get there. Or crawl under it, potentially. Yeah, I'll go over. With your Leatherman, you can take out some of the fence posts. I have a combat knife. You don't have a Leatherman? Do we all have Leatherman? Michael, we all have Leatherman. I think Michael handed them out before they did a car. When you were in the squad, you had to do a week of Leatherman trainings. With Michael Klyas, the instructor. They're how you use the toothpaste. That's how you use the toothpaste. And what you use is for it. And you can't do it without a working fence. I know you can't. This is just a beat-up old ratty fence with some wire mesh in its wheat sauce. Anyway, it's good. Wait, I thought it was just like a snow fence. It is like a snow fence. But the snow fence itself is across it vertically. It's just some white wire holding it together. It's really nothing. You could put a foot on it and pretty much lower it if you needed to. I'll go over it and then into the house. Okay, now the trailer is up against it. So you're going over it's like toward the fence where the gate is in the fence and the dead bodies are. Or you're going past it and going to the north side and climbing over the fence at that point. Well, if someone is aiming at me, they knew that I came through this side. So if I just came back around there, they might actually be watching us do. Okay. Which is paranoid because I don't know. No, that makes perfect fence. You're only snipers are out there. I'll probably go around the north side and then come to the front door. Okay. Take a quick athletics plus dexterity check to scale the fence without any detriment to you. I'm great. It's a lie. I have six dice there. Six dice minus one for the dart. This is for success. Four out of five? Yeah. Wow. None of them are tens otherwise. You gracefully leap the fence. Move along what would be the north end of the trailer home. Then move along the front of it to the front door. Which is unlocked. It is closed. You say there's a fence. And it is dark inside. You have enough. You could open the door and look inside basically. I would do that. Yeah. All right. The door is unlocked. When you open it, you smell the... It's not overpowering, but there certainly is a stink of an enclosed edifice in the middle of high summer that hasn't been opened in a while. And it is completely black inside. Do you have any kind of a white source at all, head guard? We all have flashlights. Yeah. I don't know if that's a... You move. You could take out the flashlight real quick. Yeah. It is. In my other hand. Okay. Sure. You switch over your knife and take out your flashlight. You shine it in without exposing yourself too much into the... Are you walking in or are you just kind of peering in? Well, we have a sniper on this side. I probably want to get in before... Okay. Well, I mean, he's probably not going to shoot at me, but the point stands on... Your back is a perfect bull's eye right now for him if you wanted it to your thought type. Wonderful ass giant target. Right. So I've got my clients into the trailer. You hear the creaking of the steps. Are you leaving the door open behind you or are you closing it behind you? I got you coming in next turn. Okay. You leave it open? You do? Flashlight catches in a brief few seconds you have to step in because it's really about one second left and you're in your turn. You catch two sets of boots and blue jeans lying on the floor in a prone position. Okay. Mm-hmm. You say I was going to run this time? Wait. This time's on the back side. Yeah. I don't forget to turn before me. I don't understand how you would be exposed to the sniper. The sniper isn't the door facing the south. The door is facing the west. The door is facing west, which is towards... You point right where the door is on the trailer. Thomas, where you think it would be? I don't care. Yep. Right above. Right there. Oh, gotcha in the sniper. So you jump over the fence going around the north end, went around the building, opened the door, stepped inside and went dead bodies. Alright. For some reason. I thought the door was... And you're right. The sniper is... Is first. That was one of the shoots at me. Right. Who, Ned? No. Stone Columbia. No firing from the sniper. Go. Okay. Uh... I say... I continue moving towards him. Not like brushing him because then the door will jump in. Right. You slow down. Maybe you started running and then... He knows I'm behind him, right? Yes. He heard through the mouthpiece exactly what happened. Put the gun aside, calm the dog. I guess we have time to talk about this, but seriously. There are so many snipers around here, we need to get out of sight. You see him make your first waiting? Or are you trying to intimidate? First waiting, man. Okay. Okay, where's that? First waiting plus your presence. Presence, I got two of them. You have no persuasion? No. So you go down to... it's minus one. It's a social skill. So you have one dice? I'm not sure how this could sound like a bad idea. It's not that it sounds like a bad idea. It's that he's upset. He has a mission he's on. He's trying to tell you to stand down. You're not listening. He's got a really good idea of what's going on in his mind. So that's what it is. This is the closest thing I can do to standing down right now. Right. I'm already here and covered by soldiers. So you're walking towards him slowly. You have your hand, you guys still have your gun out? Yeah. Well done. Right. What can you run on? I'm pulling. Now pull it in. Flashlight. 'Cause I was pointing on my face. Hang on, dude. I'm just gonna sneak this one out of the pins out. Hold it down. Oh, baby. I come with peace. Go ahead. I think I've got one. Go ahead. When it's zero, you get one dice. And your friendship. And it's a chance. I'm going to give you a plus one for friendship. Yeah. Yeah. Don't carry me far. Friendship. Good luck. Rules. Here's a nine. Alright. That's one success. Do you have any of this? He looks at you and he's like putting his hand over his microwave. You don't understand the danger you're in. Put your weapon down. I drop it then. And at that point, he goes back and he says, "Stand and hear a gunfire go off as he's trying to stay stand down to the rest of his mat." Uh-oh. He's getting shot. Did you not get that sniper down? I did. You know. Twice. There might be another one. What am I talking to me? Is it you? I don't know. Oh, wow. I don't know. I'm not in control of my own actions. I'm in a pool. No, I'm in. I've got a gun train. I don't know. You might be shooting at me instead. Sister Katie. Scream. How? Much, much worse than that. Alright. And collapses to her knees. Stopping her religious benediction for a moment. If she gasps her air. Maybe she did the other spawn I wanted to do. Put her hand down on her chest to see or on her stomach to see cause you were shot from behind from the far north. You were shot and thank the lord that you were wearing Kevlar because it took it from six lethal to six bashing damage as a shot was fired. And as another shot rings out. Wow. Alright, let's count the snipers. There's one. That's like Jay. There's one colonial. There's one south of this grass field. There's one north of the grass field and this is a third. No, sorry, fifth. Yeah. Whoo. Let's get back at it. It is bubbly. One, two, three, four, ten against. Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. Michael flight. Oh, from somewhere west of the fence and south. So beyond where your current friend Nash is at, another sniper shot rings out and you feel the shot will hit you directly in the heart, Michael. In your vest, of course, which again, thank the gods because it was 11 damage. So what is your health? The first eight boxes are filled with bashing as the Kevlar absorbs the incredible shot of this amazing shot from the sniper. Then the extra three damage roll over from bashing to lethal as the bullet actually goes through the Kevlar vest and penetrates the skin right below. What happens north of six is I took one, two, three, four, and now I'm out of health. So then I go back and I start rolling four. Then you start changing that to lethal. Five, six. So I've got two lethal left. I've got all lethal and two bashing. Part of the seven or so. What you should have is seven bashing and five lethal, that's what you're saying. You fill everything up with bashing and this is, well, we're calling it here because this is where everything goes. It's the end of the turn, which is what I wanted to get through, and I don't understand. Hey, hey, I'm fine. For now, what I want to do real quick is just let's, I like the first couple of sessions where we talked about what we think is happening and what we thought was cool for the night or what we thought was interesting, so, and then Jim, I'll walk you through the damage for Dr. Katie, who should still be alive. Anyways, thoughts on the evening? I think that now I'm beginning to wonder if the bell could be over here for a good reason to put down a serious threat. And we're stuck in the middle of it. Yeah. I had it described to me that they were a, by me, a unit of bell free that broke cover up. He was covering up. Right. So our original thought was that the mall sent them here to cover up whatever might be left of his, yeah, which is somewhat problematic because it could be that somebody came in moments before the cover up team came in, shot people up, still might be orchestrated by the mall just because show people, and then the cover up team came in and covered what's left of it's here, but it seems like there's too many people left over here for them to have been here already before these guys showed up. Mm-hmm. I still don't think we know. As we usually never do. Nope. Does anyone remember how many people came out of the cars? We do. Yeah. Yeah. Um, from the flashback and your tracking, I mean, we, I think we were all pretty good. Yeah. Six men and two dogs. So we got five of them are snipers. You've got, you've got the guy who shot, just Katie, and he was, you have three snipers in the woods and one sniper in the house. It's just you Katie's shooter was up and you just put a mirror in. Yeah, but that is a mirror. No, I'm not saying anything. I'm saying, John said there was five snipers, there was actually four. I was in exaggeration for a fact. By a whole walking one. Yeah. Sister Katie's sniper was up here in the woods. Sister Katie's sniper was said north of the woods. Yeah. Was from the north. Okay. So we were all about the middle of the woods. Maybe, maybe more. So who else is here? Well, there's one dog on a counter for and two soldiers. If we say the stone colonial is the occupant we're looking for rather than no. No, no. There's a gunfight going on. Yeah. So there's got to be some people in building. At least two men with automatic weapons, but it sounded like more than that. Two men with automatic weapons. There has to be task force Valkyrie, us, the people who live here in this window compound. Some other force, right? Unless they're shooting you better. Themselves. Not necessarily. The snipers are in the woods. Yeah. The task force Valkyrie as far as we figure. And the gunfire is going on in these buildings. That's the other two of task force Valkyrie that are missing potentially. And the guy that's on here, there's four snipers in your front. I was totally compromised. No, no, no. I'm going to shoot the hell out. There's an ash here. There's the sniper that shot Michael Clay. There's a sniper that shot Sister Katie and then the stone colonial. The stone colonial. Stone colonial. Which you don't know what side it's at. And then you know there's two more about three agents. There are five of them, you said? Three. Well, if you count the stone colonial, there's at least two more Valkyrie agents. If you don't count the stone colonial, there's at least three more Valkyrie agents. For at least one. Okay. Okay. Daniel and Chew's investigation of the land rovers that we started with. No, we still don't know what the fuck's going on. Who put people tied up on a fence? And another question is, what are the feeder demons doing there? I mean, it seems like they're brought about by misery. What kind of misery does he look happy in the picture? Yes, he does. What kind of misery would have brought them here? Murder in the tree. I asked specifically who summoned them and they. The bodies could have been kept up and they said, they said, yeah, they said, no one, someone does, we were summoned by the pain in the suffering of misery, is what they said. Now they're demons. They can not lie, though. As devils. I also imagine someone could use the pain. So they could be able to answer some wacky theories of the truth. Yes. His bodies were strung up by the guy we're searching for. He's not been treating these people well, despite how large the compound is. And he doesn't have enough guards he can trust, so he just strung up dead people. Recently dead, though. I don't know. Maybe one of them gave away his location and that's why they did that. That's why because everyone knows where he is and we have no idea why. And no one knew where he was for a long time. There's 12, three separate groups of four Valkyrie agents went to Ohio City and got, it disappeared looking for this guy, supposedly, from what you're hearing from Daniel. And this could be the reason why. We had two dead people strung up on the fence. Two strung up on the gate and one strung up on the fence just passed the gate where the trailer home was located. And then three or two more in this trailer home that may or may not have to be dead. Two sets of boots, workmen like boots, boots with jeans that were laying on the floor. You weren't able to see any face or a body yet, but you just saw the boots, do you walk at the stairs? I have a question. It didn't here. We'll just keep it right out. Everyone else could die. Can we make a firearms roll to determine the caliber of the weapon being fired? I was actually gonna die. I was actually. I'm not sure. That's right. I mean, Jay doesn't even have to roll. The two shots that just took out Katie and Michael, to an extent, were definitely, it's a sniper rifle that Jay uses. The one from the colonial was the Remington, which is the same that Daniel has. Now the one that took out... What's your name? Katie. The one from the colonial is the same on the Daniel uses? Desi. Yes. Desi. That was the Remington and Stone Colonial. Far as rifle. So that rifle was the one that took out Desi? Yes. At the top of the hillock. And then the two weapons that just fired in sync were more of a military grade type of weapon than a Remington. Remington's more of a... If I had taken with me a Valkyrie weapon, they'd be searching for me a lot harder. Okay. I was either gonna do a benediction to give me a five armor rating or do or start healing this chick. And I'm like, well, I'm not threatening at all. It sounds like we're starting to get things under control, maybe I'll just pull the armor off and get this girl healed as soon as I can and it could have been a shit out there. You're still in the circle, can you switch to the healing to yourself? Well, that'll be the option. I'm not... It's a little focused circle off because I never had a reason to it. Could I change the mind-tentile timing, which thing I was gonna do? When we take that much lethal damage at one time, are we not done catches? When you have three boxes remaining, it's minus one to all actions. When you have with lethal, when you have two boxes remaining, plus you're at minus two. When the third box goes to lethal, you are unconscious and bleeding out. Each turn, it goes to aggravated one, one, one, one, one, and so you have seven turns to live, basically, or however your health is. You have that many turns to live until you bleed out. So once you are totally full with lethal, well, you roll the state conscious or whatever, but you're basically unconscious and you're bleeding out and someone has to come and stop that blood flow with some first aid or you're done. So you are not at your last end with lethal, correct? No, I got five more lethal's to go. Right. I think I got three. I got... This is a scratch. It was a bit of a scratch. I'll bend down my body. I know about addiction. Well, I guess my point is that, okay, now we're kind of... He's phrased, we're wounded, and so have our team has been... I find... Half our team has been wounded, right? So Prudence would suggest that, oh, okay, you guys get this, you guys got this, you guys got this, and we'll just have to fall back and forget. Only one of us is a Prude. Okay. You got it. Make it sense. She was never going to argue with the retreat. It's much more like one of us is not a Prude, we're all leaving. You've got a shotgun, right? Yeah. So we'll just tie it in this trailer, and then every time... Shotgun's a good sniper, I'll usually kill them for all. We are. We're underground. Okay, I'll give you the shotgun and you go ahead and do it. I don't know, I actually have enough strength to use it, but then... Well, man, we're out guns and taking it home for us and it's like that. Thanks for listening to Knights of the Night at Actual Play podcast. Because Jay's not your sniper friend? I'm a sniper boss. Don't talk to love about sniper boss. You do realize you're wearing an headset, right? You're going to have to get a 2000-year-old restraining order from other than your... Sounds kind of brave. It does sound on the tube, like, to be honest. When you're wearing this squad, you had to do a week of Leatherman trainings with Michael Clay as the instructor. Oh yeah. That's how he used the 2000 and what he uses for it. And all of a sudden, you're back in truth or consequences, New Mexico, where you were born and raised. That's the name of the town. That's the name of the town. What pretty awesome. What the hell was the town where you're... Right next to let's make a deal. You're a mother of a... [laughter] (laughing)
