(upbeat music) - Hello, and welcome to Night to the Night and Actual Play podcast. This Dresden File Story delivery was written and run by your GM Tom. And now, please enjoy episode 87 titled Deal or No Deal. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) And so, you get to make the venture. This is Dresden Files, and this is the case file delivery. I am your GM Tom, and on my left is John playing Roberto Martinez, guardian of Cleveland, empowered by a fallen angel. Thomas playing Maxwell Edison, and undercover FBI agent. Mike playing Ellen Montgomery, the new warden in town. I'm Jim playing Edmund Shadowski, a prior investigator and black court new world fan. I'm Scott playing the London Deals, a moral seer to the supernatural. So, the baby's there for grabbing it. Cool, it seems. I grabbed it and maybe start crying a little bit. Killed my surrogate mother as far as the baby's in here. Take down and know what that means. Back to the other room. Sarah Lemons is shutting the hell out. Actually shutting the hell out, because apparently, my two-fudge roll, she is mulling over the thought of, you know, maybe she's actually interfering with the process. So, we're back to the topic, Maxwell. We could do another round, or we could just say these guys come out with the baby, your choice. That's fine with me. - That's fine with you? Or are they come out with the baby? - Can I walk out the door and say, we're leaving, leave the way? - Yeah, I don't need to know what happened in the other room, as long as I see the child. - Although, upon seeing the actual physical child, do I experience anything? - Oh, yeah. You're really happy. You're joyous, often, scale as far as, which is, again, inappropriate for your stone view. I mean, you're happy, but you're not that happy. But, Sarah's leaking thoughts into you and... - So, she's not starting to fade yet. I'm not in control of my emotions. Is that what you mean there? - Your emotions seem to be a mixture of hers and yours. - Okay. - You have control over it and only when that emotion is gonna be overriding and I'll have to tempt you with a fake point and take all your fake points for you. - Or do you mean more? - No, I can make you dance like a puppet now. You have no fake points at all. You'd have to do anything I told you. - All the things that are like it. - Yes, that's right. Anything that fits into your aspect, so. - Give me the diaper bag right here. - Okay, so... - So, the king is telling you we still have deal. We still get the second part of the deal. - Of course. - A couple more streets on the east side. - Of course. - It's all yours. Thank you for your. - You're just gonna let him have this territory up top. - Shut up! (laughing) - Shut it! I don't pay you to talk. - It just so happens that that's his neighborhood. - Where is he? - I don't care. I don't pay him to talk. - We're leaving. - I'm not endorsing any of the deal. - As long as Donovan is in charge, that's the charge that's the issue. - I don't fight that. - Yeah. - But, what a... - As long as Donovan's in charge, that's the way it's gonna be. Now, let's go. - Zip it. - But when Donovan's dead, we're coming back down here? - No, the deal's off. - Some of our things will happen. - And we are with you guys. - We're with you guys. - You're dad? - The deal's off. - The king's like, what? - The first line. - That was a perfectly controlled group of sh-- - Shut up! - There's itself to shreds as we leave the room. - That's it. - After all the good work we've done for the last three hours. - Let's go, Bill. Leave the way, go. - When we have the child, then yeah. - We're out of here. - I believe. - We are. - Okay. - Well played, gentlemen. - The whole threat was handled without violence, so it's not a problem getting back out. But we have an issue with the fact that the high concept of Roberto is the reason he picked up this coin is to keep his neighborhood safe. His neighborhood's being fed on. There's no way that that cannot be a compel to go take care of the situation, turn around and go back. You know, maybe someone takes the baby to safety, but he's got to do something about it. In addition, we have Alan, one of his aspects is I'm here to clean up the mess. And his mentor is farming out to ghouls free-range humans that they're feasting on. - Well, and I just discovered this fact. - You just discovered this, but I'm saying also, there should be a compel there. Both of you should be compelled. Take care of the situation. And what better time? You're right outside, the king's right inside. I mean, you could walk away from it and then deal with it later, but I don't think I'm gonna let Roberto get away with that. This is his neighborhood they're feeding on. - It's really hard to get back this part deep into it too. - I think. - Well, we're gonna need Edmund. But is that not gonna let, now that we've got the child? - You have conflicting aspects. - I have conflicting aspects. - And I still can't believe and not cause us fight, but- - Well, I tell you what. - You have the mother whispering in your head to get out, take the baby to safety, get out. And yet, but my duty is- - This is pretty big. And she's too- - Yeah, it is a huge problem. I mean, it's very big. - And just to be clear, where is Maxwell's stand on goals? - As far as my character knows, those things are zombies. - Okay, good to know. - Solar creatures. - I gotta run past legal first, before I can do anything about it. - I'm legal? - Yeah, kill 'em. - I got an idea. I'll take the smelly little pride thing, and I will get it above ground safely while you go back and handle your treacherous affairs, that you need to handle right this second, 'cause I can't wait a half minute. We know where the ghouls are at. - Well, it's not the bad way, but this is an opportunity to strike at the heart of- - It's all an opportunity to foil the bigger purpose, which is to get the child. We have the child. - Which is why it's a conflict, that's why we're having a little discussion, isn't it? - Right, it's not really a conflict. - And calm voices don't carry in these tunnels back to the ghouls who are like, are they arguing about trying to kill us? - Yes, we need to get the child out, and then you can take your revenge. You know where they're at. They're not moving. They're not leaving. They're not finding a new tunnel tomorrow. - Excuse me for a moment. What are you doing? - For your fade point. - You never got it. If you accept it, you have to, the starving, the starving for a fade point. It's what you're gonna be paying off or everything. - Well, no, I'm just saying, you have to clean up this mess. You're here right now. Can you get back down here? You don't know, but this is pretty fucked up. Would William Donovan did? - Yes. - That's my stop. - Boss, there are two ways we can deal with this. One, you leave with it, and we take care of this. Or two, you help me find these guys when they strike, and we get them. - You mean in the future? - My question is-- - When they strike in the future, yes. - What's the best way to stop these guys from feeding their, going there and kicking their kings, but might just make them all want to swarm in there and eat more, saying, well, got their king, but we still got the old deal. Or, you had to go into the source and where they're going to feed, and then kick them out of there and say, killing their king would also sort of notice that the deal's off and there's no deal in it. - Or a new warden stepping in and saying, the deal's off without bloodshed. - How the hell's that gonna work? - You just walk in and say that deal. - You see that guy left? - But just someone else. - That's dead. - He's dead. Did you layer it? - Or did in town? - Over. - And they're not just gonna agree with that. You can't just walk in and say that it's over. - I think-- - What are you gonna do now? - There's the exact same thing you're gonna do in the future. - You're doing it. - My point being, once he proclaims himself the new warden, we come down here and kick, well, you come down here and kick their asses. - In which case, more people would've died already. - Wait, what's gonna take us? - 24 hours? - 100 of these pools. - Maybe they eat in the night. - They eat? - Well, we still have a lot more beats between this. - Wait, how do we know this? - We don't know this. - I'm gonna add a writer to your contract. - Oh geez. - If you're going to attempt to add a writer to my contract, yes. - I will offer an incentive bonus for you to take this child and get her safely out of it. - Heck, it's no problem. - You wouldn't have done that anyway. - Yeah, but it stops the argument. - Well, money? - Okay. - Yeah, exactly. - And I'm safe. So I'm safe, then money, then it's your help. - I wanna be very clear. - Right. - This child needs to be safe, and you need to stick with the child until we, or where it's left. - In that case, if you're changing the deal, then how much-- - I'm not changing the deal. I'm adding an incentive bonus to it. - Yes, if you want me to leave this place on my own with a crying child while you attack the cool, so it'll be separate. - Well, you protect the child until it's time that we come back. - For the right price of dollars. - Five dollars. - 20. - 20. - If you don't need to protect the child, bring it to Edmonds. - This is the worst idea I've ever heard. - But, regardless of that, if you wanna go back there and get your cool wallet, that's fine. - All right. - What I'd like you to do is wait five minutes until I am with-- - Oh, you can tell me that out of there. - Right. - But for that waiting, I'm gonna take it up to 7,500, and you'll get to check when I'm done here. - I'm assuming that the White Council would be good for it if you happen to perish, right? - Sure, you talk-- - I have your word. - Sure, you talk to them. - 'Cause you do have an account, correct it with money. - I, yes, I have-- - I have your word then. - What are we talking about? - We're talking about 20,000 dollars to get the child out of here safely while you go back and attack, which I think is a really good idea. - I said 75,000 dollars. - Right, 20,000 dollars. - Then I'm just gonna have to take that chance, but you're not gonna be completely amoral, even though that's what-- - You get the amoral! - It's here, it's gonna be super amoral. - It's in the fucking definition of the character, Mike. - He has that. - He will leave the baby on the ground right here. I have no doubts about this man's lack of morality. Dickishness. - I have complete morality. My morality is to make sure that I survive-- - Absolutely absolutely. - It's out there 20,000 dollars with the caveat that I am able to name two additional services to be named later. One additional service and you've got it. - I'm gonna deal with this one way or another. - You are the worst fucking employee ever. - Well, maybe it's because I don't consider myself an employee. - You are my definition and it contracted employee. - And the contract was to come down. - Oh my God, I wish I could kill you right now. - It's a child and bring it out safely. That was the contract. You are now adding-- - You have never filled that contract yet 'cause the child has gotten out of the sewers and it's not yet safe. And I'm adding additional money and you're trying to fuck me for another $15,000. - No, actually it's $12,500. - Oh, I'm sorry, is that all of that is much better then? I don't mind being fucked for another $12,500, $12,500. - It's the way it comes, it's money. You need to get this done. - This isn't just about the right counsel. - Is that? - Well, there's smaller issues here that I-- Okay, fine. - People being killed. - Fine, $20,000. But you know what, I'm disappointed in you. Now, I don't wanna hear any more from you. I've repaid, I've agreed, I don't wanna hear anything else from you, right? And I get one other service to be named later. - One other service. - Wait a reason. - And then it was a-- - It was a, like, death, sacrifice yourself. - I can't do that. And I don't expect you to sacrifice yourself, too. But it's a service to be named later. From this is the most corrupt time I've ever heard of. I should, I was drinking mamosas and margaritas just a week ago. This is ridiculous. - Well, come be clear. - I can't swallow this. Here's a problem you could swallow. - There's so many things that we got going. - It is a problem you could swallow. I'm really proud of you guys. (laughing) I just wanna say that. You guys are awesome to work with. So where's a little bundle of joy? - I'm pretty sure Allen was holding it. - No, I didn't. - It was that bad. - You refused? - No, you wouldn't, like, go for it. - Wait, where's the kid? Who's got the kid? (laughing) The gold's got it, dude. - You were more compelled by your ghost. Hold on. - I don't wanna have to. - Yeah, you weren't. - Is that it Ian? - Hold on. - Like, is it bad recently, or is it, is it hungry or sleeping? - No. - So you might wanna be clear on what we get out of here. 'Cause I don't really know what to do with this thing. - And then you're gonna have, Jesus Christ. - I find like a... - You're so smart. You don't know how to handle this. - I don't have children. I have a whole girl, son. - I have children. - I bet you have children. - If he didn't change his diaper, yeah. - He doesn't know any of those things at all. So I think he's looking at you. - You have a secretary? - You're talking about him. - You have a secretary. - You got a secretary, right? - Yeah. - Shana can probably help you. - Okay, that's great. - Shana. - Wow. - Shana. - Shana. - Shana. - Shana is a place of you. - Oh! - Absolutely, I got this, I got this. - Fucking lonely. - Don't you worry about, oh look at the cute, I bet she's gonna love that one. - Babies and puppies are, you know, a lot. - Absolutely. This is gonna work. - Oh, what the hell? Where's that? - That's a big shot. - I don't wanna look at that. - The conductor is gonna show you the way out of here. - Oh, Jesus. Okay, so take the child to, you know where... - Yeah, Shana. - And keep the child secure and safe and protected. - To the best of your ability. - Absolutely. - Until we see you in the 2000s again. - Grab right that up. - And I message that down for you for the most expensive babysitting hours I've ever been in transportation as well, I mean. - Dealing with a drunken mad man, it smells like... - Come on, and there's a lot in volunteer, okay? - You know. - Grab right down on a piece of a letterhead. - This is a noisy job. - This is what you mean. - We're all over one. - Jim's giving you a letter that's from May Amazing. - May Amazing. - No, it's got his letterhead on it. - Right. - Shana. - Take care of this baby. - Take care of this baby and don't lose it. - And bang it. - London. - Got it. - Take care of whatever London needs. - Okay, we've got all the ugly people. - What is the skill for a forgery? - The seat action. - The seat action. - Right around it. - And take care of anything London needs. - No! - It's the seat. - London watching. - Unless official documents, then it's deceiving. You actually need to stop. - Oh, I have to see. How interesting. Excellent. - We're gonna do this right and we're gonna like stealth up and murder them all very quietly. Your stealth is like power. Not that anyone here is very good at it. - I am. - I'm exactly good at it. - I will remind you from Maxwell that you have a bag that you picked up with your equipment in it. - What shades of my equipment do I have in it? Because I know only one thing of equipment and it's not very useful against these guys. - I don't know. You went and got all the equipment that you had in your FBI secret stash. You sang. - Oh my gosh. - I brought a flamethrower. - Because I'm not. - I'm not. - I guess it's possible. - Potentially you have flash bangs. - You have military grade stuff because you work for some very powerful individuals. - Flash bangs. I mean, obviously they blind people and you can use that to hit them. - They're designed to blind and disorient somebody with a concussion, they have a magnesium flare. - Okay. - Mike, give me a lower again as you're all sitting around discussing gold. So you might want to too, you deal with them, but I don't know. - I don't have lower. - Holy cow, that is the worst fudge ever. - I have a negative three in my fudge. - Negative one, I'm pretty sure they don't have so. - Which takes me down to my early average lord. - You made a roll the previous time, Ellen, and you know the damage can take them out. You also know that the health ability to re-heal themselves and that the surest way to kill them is off of that or crushes fine. - Typical zombie stuff. - That's what I'm going to. - So what, I mean, there's a bazillion of these things going around out here and we're not going to take on the whole three. - I didn't count them, but that sounds about right. - Oh. - You didn't. - So what's that? - I got a flash bang and three grenades. - We're going to take them all away. - Each one of us has got to kill at least three. - You want to let's just beat the king in single contact? - Yeah, you should do that. - You mean challenge? - I'll take care of your other two. - It's like we don't have to fight everyone if we assume authority. - Don't they respect authority? - I mean, you should strength. - You lose. - What do we do? - Being coming clean of the ghouls has got a title I'm looking for, but wouldn't that be awesome? - And I'm like, "Hey, army of undead bastards solved my problems." - It's just a great, cleaving way of thinking there, Maxwell. - Thank you. - I'm not sure all of you would be cool with that because I would still have to feed them on people. - Yeah, so I wouldn't be pretty cool with that. - No. - Because it'd have to be people. - Yeah. - It could be like, they could eat dead things. - Yeah, you might have to. - I leashed them into the emerald necklace and just- - If I took over them and then fed them in table scraps. - Ooh, that's a good point. - That's not a legitimate point. - That's a wonderful point. - That's a good point. - I have a dear problem. - If you ask, do you have things that eat meat? - They would go fantastic. - I mean, I think within the year. - I mean, I know this issue is five steps down the road right now, but you know, I'm gonna do that. - Maybe we could direct them to something else. - Yeah. - If we could do that. - I don't know who would be best suited to became the ghouls. - Sure as hell would we meet? - I don't know. - We could manage that. - So I assume we have enough time for London to- - Yes, yeah. - London needs to give me a role to do his veil. - Well, we'll see how well he can sneak out of here. - Are you veiling you and the conductor? None of babies? - He's doing him and the baby, the conductor's- - I am not standing that close to that man to make him invisible. - No. - Wait a minute over here, let's keep going. - Damn distracting, baby. - Oh, my is one of my fudge dice. I have a discipline of superb, which takes me down to great, so I have a great looking veil. - Okay. - We're sitting outside of the chamber of the ghoul king, near the entrance to that chamber are two ghoul guards. I don't know your plan, I don't know what's good, so the aspects are slag-tice, slag-mites, dark, cramped. - All right, I'll huddle up here, guys. Ooh, could we just cause a cave-in? - Can I get the hell out? - I don't know. Hey, I don't know if we could cause enough of a cave-in like that. - What do you mean appeal to? - Do you have a wizard? - I don't do- - Wizard. - I'm water here. - What do you do? - Air, water, and spirit. - There's no water here. - There's not a lot of free-moving water. - Okay. - Fine. - See, do you wear the sewers, I don't know. - Yeah, sewer system. - If we need them to be quiet, but we botched the attempt to kill them silently, could you keep the sound from traveling too far? - Yes. - Why couldn't I use a spell of air to basically, the same spell, but use it for all that muffled thing to work that we use for- - Our coffee table cheddar silencer. - Well, in a way, it's like, okay, within this area, that would encompass the guard, so we can both do the little, just casting on a pebble, and then we're going to need your stealth. - Yeah. - So, yeah, I could do- - You could do one. - Basically, that's a simple spell to create the silence. All right, so once we take care of these two guards, what next, are you- do you need to challenge them? - Yeah. - What about the king? - Yeah, I don't know if they can win that. - Well, not even that fair, but we're not against it. - It won't be a four-on-one battle, we're not going to be king. - They wouldn't fall for that. - If they respect strength, would they allow for people to come in, kick out their king, and then the- - No. - No. - We would all have- - Yeah. - I think we're okay. - You don't think you'd have to switch credit. - Even though they're supposed to be pretty smart. - Actually, no. The normal goals are pretty dumb. - I thought Borush, though, was- - He's pretty smart. - Right. - I think he could be pretty smart. - Basically, I want to bust in the- you know, take care of these guards, eliminate something, and then come in and say, "Hey, we've got new business, Tully." - Okay. - We need to- - So, if we're going to kill them, either way, let's do that. - All right. I am going to stealth. - Do you have that as a- - A road spell? - Oh, yes. It's called "Hush." - You're stealthfully going up there to do what? - He's going to snap the neck of one of the guards, follow him with his hammer, and that's all he has. - Yeah, check the hand. - Oh, God. - He's playing Pop-A-Mole. What's it called? - Oh, then I'm taking the other one. - Okay. - Okay. - If you got stealth, I'm so sorry. - Yes. - And you guys get to go, because they are just standing there and guarding you. - You have a fake point. - Yeah. - You may use them on the aspects of this room, but it's like, you guys still like to get by and start, and anything else that's relevant about you. - What the hell does a flashback look like? - I would say temporary aspects to the goals of blinded at the rollout. - Is it maneuver to throw it right here? - They would require you to hit a spot. - Yes. - All right. - Someone else throw it. - It's a big, empty chamber. - I'd say it's pretty fair, just to toss it somewhere in there that it can happen. - I have to. - In the center, boss, too. - Yeah. - You suck at throwing. We got it. - Fine. - We must deal with these, too, before you can get anywhere near doing that stuff. - Just out here. - So, maneuver. - So, maneuver. One mental stress to cast the spell grad right. - We roll stealth, and then we roll initiative. - And then I use up this, since this is the road spell, do I need to go through the casting or the success, or does it just happen? - Wizard. - That was a wizard. - That was a win-a-loss. - I think the power's predetermined, right? - Right. - The power. - It would just be the control. - The world would control again. - And that's my discipline. - Disciplined under the control, the power amount. - The power amount. - The power amount. - The power amount. - And I've got discipline has to be higher than two. - All right. - Because this is the win, I've got a plus one because of my gloves or wind or air. So, please. - Power control? - Power control. - Appendise. - All right. So, it's a wash for the fudge, plus one for the gloves which would make my discipline check superb. - Whoa. That's more than enough. - To be honest, to all the cells in the area, which gives both of you to a plus two to your stealth maneuver, which gives me a peppy guy. - Jim. - I'll go to your stealth. - I have a cloak, I am a cloak of shadows type of guy. I can just go around and attack, but it helps a bit. - Great. - I have an aspect? - No, it's power. - That's crazy. - Yes. - Oh, that was a plus all the way. - Good. That's a plus four. - Would you also? - That'd be five plus your aspect is seven. - My fudge washed, so I start with a fair, I got a plus two because I have cloak of shadows and plus two because of the darkness because of me plus four which brings a tweet fantastic. Well, look at you. - What did you say? - You're an epic? - Epic. - It's a fantastic. - Mm. - If you want to know where Roboto is sneaking up on, well, the game of mine is two hits. - It's. - This. - The one that Edmond is sneaking up on, well, the game of mine is one. Both of them had a epic alertness to start with. - She's a ship. - You, Edmond, actually tie. - You Roberto sneak up on yours without any problem. We'll go with Roberto first because he has a surprise. - Surprise. How's that going? - I'm trying to push it my way. - Push it my way. - All with his defense go. - Unfortunately. - Unless you spent a fade point. - Unless I'm thinking about doing it. - Yeah. - Cool one, doesn't it? - See, since it's still like miney and darky, I didn't see me. - It's dark. - And you spent a fade point, so you are not seeing either as yours is legendary. So you both sneak up on them correctly. And let's go with Roberto. He does not give his defense, but he does get a roll. - So it works his defense. - Oh, yeah. - Okay. - One of my weapons. - The fudge gives me a minus two. - The fudge is not kind. - Well, my weapons is a four. Brings it down to a fair. But it's slow jamming, which I believe is a weapons three. So if that hit. - It hits. I do five damage. - You have an human strike, man. - Oh, yeah. And then I have an human strike, which adds plus two to the final damage, making it seven. Epic damage to the ghoul. - There's a very muffled person taking out this thing. - Oh, he's taking out this thing. - Yes. - They have physical four stresses. This was three above that. So it actually did a moderate. - Right. - Smash metal, which is enough because these guys are of little consequence other than they're pretty kick-ass. These things regenerate. So I would say, yeah, you gave them his head. Edmund, you are next to you, or who? - I get to try to snap his neck. - If you crushed his head, has he killed them? Or, he took him out of the scene. He chooses to cave in his skull and kill him, so yes. - Okay. So you said he regenerates. And so is there a threat of him regenerating and coming back? - As far as you know, with your brawl, you don't believe stuff. - Best to be sure. - Repeatedly banging with it. - I've said him a fight. - All right, here we go. - Oh, that is suck-ass roll. - Oh, that is a very suck-ass roll. - Right in the swing on the punch. - You did average, but that hits, because his roll was... Actually, he did poor. He thought he saw something, then he spent that fake point, so he kind of leans in, you know, and he stops his neck, and he just twists it. So it actually does one extra damage, because of how poorly he was situated. He was very vulnerable. - Gotta get plus two because of the strength I'm actually on. - So you would go from average to fair, and then an additional two would be great damage, which is not enough for eight or four, and he has four stress boxes, so you do damage to him, but you didn't take him out, unless you spent another day. - I'm trying to figure out if I need to take him out in one shot, or is it... - Well, if he gets to go before you, you could run into the room, and he would be outside the silence zone, and then he could yell. And, in your stealth, his alertness was epic. Seven, can you go faster than him? - Yes, I got it. - Unlikely. - Yes, so I'm spending a big point. What do I do? Did I have another damage? - Yeah, it adds two more damage to him, so that is enough to do a consequence to him, and then therefore take him out, so you just snap his neck all the way around. - You guys are running in the other room, and you still won't have any room. You need to tell me to ask if I can suspend this on it. Otherwise, there's only plus one, which is actually enough. - I didn't know my own strength. - Oh, they did. Okay. Both are taken out. You guys are now able to move all the way up to the edge of the cave, where there are ten more bulls in it, uber cool. - We're gonna have to... - No? - Yes. - If we were gonna make a case for single combat, we need to impress the hell out of them. - We just killed your gods! You didn't even fucking hear it! - You didn't even... - Sorry, Adam. - I was thinking... My body's gonna throw him into the room. - Well, who's gonna single combat the king of gold? - Me. - Between you two. - Okay, I will reiterate, this goal is eight feet tall. - See, here's the thing. I don't want to initiate an honorable combat, because then I would be honored by all not to intervene. I think we need to be immoral or something. - Easy. - Okay. - I'm sorry. I don't want you to fight a giant cool. I don't think it... - I'm just surprised that... - Basically, I know about you. I don't think you've got the ability to take out a goal into single combat. - He is, as far as you know, just the human. - Right. I don't quite understand what you're fighting me on this. - Oh, wow. - However, if you would take in single combat and win, I think I got some questions asked. - Can I roll a size up that guy, like, in the past? - I would say I would need a good role, and what skill do you want to use? - Empathy would work. - Without a stunt, I can't apply endurance to that. - Endurance is long-term action and physical fortitude. I know. - It would be knowledge of endurance, so... - Well, that's five, which is superb. His endurance is actually great for him, because he has superior toughness. - Well, I ask the dean, if this doesn't work out, could you push me the rest of the way? - I would push you to throw your eyes. - All right, that's good enough. - I'd say I think I could take this guy down. One way or another, he won't be the king of this particular pack of ghouls by the end of the day. - And you wouldn't take him in... - I can bring it up with him, if you don't feel comfortable and want to break in, if it turns nasty, but I think I can do it. - We got four guys, three grenades at a flash bang, then walk in. - Oh my god. - That's impressive. - I think that's how we should do it. - We don't know. - Half of your attendance. - So we got new business, and then this role. - Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait. Let me size this up socially. Is that a thing we can do to these guys? Can we come in here and say we want to be your king after bottom? - That would require, as a show of strength and power, which these creatures respect and understand, and also, is there a symbol of the king's power, something that the big ghoul has, height and strength? - It didn't seem to be, and I would say Thomas is right. It was the fact that he was the big motherfucker who was sitting on the throne, and if you want to sit on the throne and come and talk to the big motherfucker, and I'll teach you why you should not sit on the throne. - In which case, this creature's head becomes the symbol of power. - That's correct. - You can't kill them with a series of grenades. It'll kill his minions. - It's a good way to say hi, and it's not a good way to say hi. - Everything you got from your dealing with these guys in the previous time you were in this room, they all looked with fear and reverence on the Uber King. They were afraid of his power. - Flashbang in, you get everyone in the zone, concentrate our attacks on the Uber ghoul, not doing something like that. - His death will be the symbol of our strength and power. - I don't like this plan, but well, if you want to do the sing-over. - The single combat thing, that was just a way to introduce you. In light and pain. - It will. - It will come down by minions. - There's tons of other ones. - Wait a second. - Why? - Are you setting yourself up to be some kind of ghoul king here? What's up? - Did that say a slight question? - Let's kill the ghoul king, and then we'll become the ghoul king. - I'm going to have a lot of questions there for you. - You don't want that? - I don't understand why you want it. - How do you want to do it? - Mortal combat. - I think it's easier to kill him than it is. - No grenades. - It could have worked. - Your decision? - Yeah. - If I go down, you can toss grenades in. - That's all I need. - You're walking in solo? - Yeah, but they're staying at the exit. - They walk in, but they stay at the door. - You need at least an entourage. You just can't walk in solo. - That's how I address him solo. - You can issue a direct challenge to him, but you do want to have your cohort around you, right? - Yeah, okay. - Do you know the musketeers in this? - And after this battle starts up, you guys are going to back up so you can toss grenades in, right? - Oh, that's why we need to be outside of the bomb, so if you want some grenades, now that makes better. - All right, so we'll just peek in through the door. - Yeah, we'll come with them. We'll be over here. - Okay. - I may need President's help to make an impact on this guy. I'm a dangerous and such. - I will try to use my swords. - Inherent magic to you, somehow enhances. - Presence. - Anyone got any presence? - Jim? - It's two. - I can't help him. - They found a hole to a pull a plumbering tear. - To your left. - With my social. - You gave up. - I do presence as well. We'll see if you can help. We're both too fair. - Yeah, you can't do a maneuver outside door. - After the battle starts, they leave. - They're coming out of the field. - When I'm staying at 50, which I'm even better at. - And now they don't plan on leaving. I'll stick next to the throne, and I'll hide behind it when things get thrown into the room. - Catch all the grenades and hold them on the can. - If you do a maneuver, you'll get plus two defense. - This is the best 20,000 out there. - Shut up the fuck up. - I'm trying to give him an opportunity here. - I'm a boosters. - Why am I not taking him? - What am I doing wrong? - Oh, you would have me bomb them first, yes, I understand. - No. - My perspective is that you are an average human being. Why is the challenge a goal in a single hand combat? And I really don't understand why. Unless there's something going on here that I don't understand. - If I need to convince you, I don't know. You don't want me to convince me. Let's just-- - I hold up the hammer and say this. It can help me do anything. - Do what you gotta do. - This deceit is a tool my hammer gives me my strength. - I've got my flashbang ready to go on my sword on the other hand. - Ready to jump in and say-- - Do you water all against it or are you just going to believe? - I believe he's-- - I don't believe he's-- - All right, all means-- - You're all a fair lie. - No, I'm still-- - Hold on, you want me to blow off-- - I'm about 20 bucks. - Do you? - Or 20,000? - No. - I don't care. - Well, I'm kidding. - You're going to beat that. - You're keeping notes. - Oh, yeah. I'm going to-- - You're like FBI. - Wait, what did you say exactly? - What did you say you can't hurt? - Just read your mind strength. - Oh, yeah, yeah. - I still rolled a three and that's a lie and I marked it down. - He has shown me a hammer. He is claiming to be able to handle this. - I saw you roll, what did you roll? - I rolled a fair. - He rolled a plus one and his fudge dies. - Did you guys, like, bounce there? - I don't know what that means. - I guess he could be telling the truth. - I saw him. - That's true. - But-- - There's nothing like-- - I need to keep it a secret or anything. I don't know what it needs to be kept a secret. - Except that it doesn't want to be shown to people present. - Are you saying that you're going to show the coin to the award? - No, I was saying I was going to use a fake point to make sure he didn't detect my lie. - But-- - Oh, obviously. - I can't happen. - That's why I would detect your lie. - Because your coin tells you? - No, that's not a good idea. - Lie better. - You hit that. - He's holding a sword. - Really? - Yeah. - He says that? - Okay, because we're going to make-- - Everything sounds so reasonable. - It does. - I don't disbelieve you. You don't need to benefit me. - No. - I know longer now. - Oh, that makes sense, right? - Oh, yeah. - That makes it one. - I know. - I know. - Great. - Comes a great lie. - Mmm. - Yeah. - Your voice gets more strong. - Sure. - I like bullshit. However, I think Maxwell does not know how long you believe it's true and it does. - Alan. - Okay. - Alright, let's see what the hammer does. - It's like the swords, but it's a hammer. - Come on, Thor. - What else you got? - I'm going to roll empathy to boost his morale so that he doesn't piss his pants while he's doing some many things. - Yeah, if he wets himself while talking to the gold king, that's not good. - No! - I still rolled a fairy. - Hey, you don't know what you got that for me. - He don't give him a very good tap-dock, but once you go down-- - Yeah, it was a card. - Yeah. - My theory was superb, and I'm fully thinking that I'm going in there to save him. I'm out. Let him see what he can do. - Okay, let's go in. - Unless anyone has a maneuver too. - So, no flash-playing, you're simply strolling into this chamber. - Rolling intimidation. - Rolling intimidation. What do you say? - I say-- - I know what the warden said, but I can't let that happen. You need to change your plans, and I'm going to be the one to make the changes around here. - What would you do? - You're not being the warden, right? You're not disguised as your new guy. - Are you disguised as your new? - No, he's-- - He loved. - It doesn't matter if he loved. You still have it on you, unless you don't have it on you. - Oh, I look like Donovan, right? - Yes. - We did when you first came in here. - No, that's gone, though. - Okay. - Your choice? - It's gone. - All right. Give me an intimidation roll. - I rolled-- - A minus one, and my fudge dice. - Fair skill. - There you go. - You rolled the even on his fudge dice. - And he was going with his presence, which is good. - Okay. - I'm a guardian of Cleveland. - This is my job to keep my people safe and-- - Excuse me. - And now I have successful challenges, man of single comment. - He laughs at you, even though you rolled better than him. He still thinks it's hilarious that someone of your stature thinks-- - Even for a minute that you could take on Varash. - He makes motions to his minions. - Are you guys joining in or not? - In the run. - Well, what's happening that minions are all converging on? - The minions start moving towards him, and he's laughing and he's saying no, no, no. - Oh, wait and see. - I'm walking in with him, but I'm not walking like next to him. I'm like walking in and standing by the door like I'm keeping an eye on him. - I'm not going to be like I'm about to join him. - I am not going to ask all of you to roll alertness and add a throw. - All is off the shark. - Plus nine. - I rolled a minus one on the fudge, and that gives me a fair plus two. - That's what I should've took. - Scratch on the fudge, and I have a good alertness. - I'll show three. - Ellen rolled a mediocre on the fudge, which is zero, and so I have an alertness of good. - I had a mediocre role in mediocre skill. - My only point was I thought the plan was the three of us were standing in the hall, one zone away in order to use the grenades. So if we're going to go into the zone with him, it's a different angle here. - So you've now stepped into the zone with him for the confrontation. Now, the brush stands up, you laugh, he tells his men to back up. They all start backing up against the walls. You guys do what? - Then I step back as well, but my sword is that you're actually leaving it in the hallway, right on the verge of the hallway. - I'm going out of that zone into the hallway the way we originally planned. - You're kind of working your way around the room? - Working your way around the room. - I'm guessing the throne is probably the best cover. Unless there's a better cover here, that's where I'm working my way. - It is definitely the best cover. - Back out of the room. - Okay. - Before I decide to stay in this room, how much damage am I looking if I'm undercover, that I'm going to take you? Because I'm not going to stay here. - What if you're not under cover? - I just want to be clear that all you guys are in the zone of which I'll be tossing grenades. If that is still the plan, or should I just button the room with you? Because it seems like I'm going to be putting you guys at a lot of risk. - The plan is to throw grenades when I go down. - Full defense adds to, temporary aspect of cover adds to. - You're right. - Defense roll itself. - No, I'm staying in the room. Because what I'm thinking is that some of us got to get him out if there's grenades coming in and I'll bribe him and run out of the room. - I can't cast a spell into another zone, right? Can you see into the room from here? - Yeah, and they're just standing in the doorway. - I have a spell I'd like to cast on. - Okay, when it's your turn, I'm going to give you guys the option to back out. And then you start to think about spell rushes across the room and he attacks Roberto. - He's moving it in human speed. - You have claw things? - Yeah. - Go fuck with him.
