[Music] Hello, and welcome to Night to the Night Actual Play podcast. This world of darkness storyline, shed luck, was written and run by our storyteller Scott. And now, please enjoy the final chapter, chapter 16, scene one titled, "Once Stung Toy Shy". So this is chapter 16 of the world of darkness, story, shed luck on the storyteller Scott. This will be our last chapter of this particular story, and with us here tonight from my right is Tom, playing the character Jay, right playing the character of Lucius Miles, Michael Clay, Bob playing Special Agent Chew Park. All right, recapping from last week that there was a plan that was designed, flawed and put together, flawed don't maybe, and so take it from there gentlemen. Well, I wrote down the four points of the plan, the flawed plan that we all kind of agreed was Meredith Burke, with a possible secondary target of Tammy Song. Part one of the plan was to use the idol to bluff our way into the hive building. That might have been your plan. I mean, as I recall, we were talking about getting a van from the construction company, and the idol did come into hopefully giving us a thorough of beingness, right? Maybe I'm only using my my responsibilities for the overall plan, possibly. So, okay, yeah, I mean, maybe those are the key points, is you okay? Well, here, I mean, one thing we discussed, and I don't know if this is definitely the way we're going to do it, but was to either way lay one of these vanes full of workers and take their paperwork in their van. From the construction company, right? We are being sent. Not like the regular workers going into are there regular workers that go in and out of this place? Yeah, I think there's what like 25-30 employees that actually do work at the corporation. We saw looking at the videotape, we looked at the surveillance, and we were going to look like construction workers. But even them seem to be known, they seem to be known by the guards. So, we were thinking a combination of having the van with the correct paperwork, with his idol giving off a sense of happy beingness. Look, we're one of you. It hasn't helped us so far enough, right? Does anybody have to give off happy beingness? Yes. According to Alistair Cowell. Yes, we think. But that might be only the queen bee. It might not be the drones, but I wouldn't. Why not? Sure. It's the ultimate field test. It does see if it works or yeah. One of the other options we talked about is going through the back fence. There's a break in their security and when they march fast, we could, you know, they check the fence, we could sneak in through the back fence, but that only gets sent a lot. The building is still sealed. It has electronics. The construction company actually working inside. On occasion, some workers do go inside. I asked that question last week. But again, they might have to have special paperwork. His software might allow us to get through if he hacks in just to have the door open. But with their guards at the door, there are two armed security guards at the door. If we can hack in, maybe we can get the video feeds too and actually see what's going on. I will do my best to hack in. It's all on you, buddy. Yeah, I mean, you are the chosen ones. Well, I kind of wanted to save any willpower I have for the ultimate confrontation, but I may have to spend my willpower to. Well, all some computer wizardry. Don't forget, a key part of the plan was your idea, too, which was to distract or mislead Tammy Song into meeting you somewhere far off to least get her, hopefully, lured away from the area. So we, that's one less person we have to deal with. Yeah, I think that would be a good thing, not having her around. I don't think she's she is the queen. We're waiting for Tate to send us some stuff, and that stuff includes some another safe house. Yes, it's an inflatable one. No, non-lethal weapons, so we can take people out without having to kill them. Right, your cell phone rings that. Who's calling me? Tammy Song. Wow. What time is it? It's breakfast. You have to be out by this evening. We'll say it's about 10 o'clock in the morning. And am I at the safe house? No, you guys are having breakfast. At the beginning. Wait, do we just get a rest now? Do we get willpower back? You had a full night and you got one willpower back, which I thought you got last week, but if I didn't say it, then go ahead and add it. Wait, did he? I don't think so. I think we ended up after the phone call with Tate. We didn't even say we were going to bad news. Yeah, that's right. That's right. We were still running the night after we hit the hour. Yeah, it was like two or three in the morning by the time you were done with everything because you called him really late, not just 12 midnight. It was really good about that. So if he got six hours of sleep, it's nine o'clock, big egg by 10. So let's say it's 10, 10, 30. And everyone gets one willpower back for a nice night of sleep. One of your few since the story has begun. Kind of sleep in church is more awesome. It's very peaceful. Yeah. It's very peaceful. I haven't a sniper rifle up in the helicopter. Okay. One little mistake. Let it go. All right. So it's next morning, your phone rings a breakfast big egg. It's Tammy's song. Tammy. And are you answering or not? I am not going to answer. Oh, come on. Hit the answer. Am I going to tell her? We don't have a plan yet. We have a plan. Just play with it. Just go. Go. Go. Answer the phone. Tell her we're going to meet her somewhere. Exactly. That you're ready to take her out. Can I get back to you on that? On the way or not? On the way. Okay. Give her a time. We're going to call her back and she's got to meet you at such and such. All right. Fine. Fine. I'll just set it up for now. All right. I answered the phone. Hey, lover. I wish you'd sat upon me that. She can call me that. Give me the phone. Yeah. Dr. Love. Well, it's called to me. Why would that bother you? It's a term of endearment. How many women have been on top of you whispering in your ear? You're at the bottom of that list. I'll tell you. You could deny it all you want. Hey, want to get together? I think we should. I think this needs to end. Really? Because I haven't offered for you that I don't think it could possibly refuse. But said, well, I just got done speaking with Meredith and we've decided that it's right over your parents. You're not going to join us in our wonderful existence. So whatever tips do you have? Well, you're thrashing resistance when I was on top of you. It doesn't happen with many men. But it was was my first time. What do you want me to say? But we have an offer, a truce, so to speak. But we can both walk away happy with. That sounds appealing to me. Does it? I don't want to have anything to do with you. And it sounds like you don't want to have anything to do with me. Oh, well, there you go, but you're on. You can't have me. Right. At least not now. So we thought we would work out a truce. So where would you like the need to discuss our truce? No, bees. How could I possibly trust? This can end right here, right now. And both of us walking away happy. Can you answer me one question? I could try. What happened to the 12 agents from the buzzers that angry? I'm afraid that I don't know what you're talking about. When Meredith, um, she definitely isn't touched with things and in two with things that I'm not. So that's possibility. But can I meet with her? Oh, because that's really why I'm here. And that would make me agree to this deal. Well, that's an excellent offer, but I can tell you right now that Meredith won't risk meeting you. And you probably wouldn't want to risk meeting. I think it's best if I'm the intermediary between the two of you so that you don't let's say bring some ritualistic items along into the headquarters and we don't have to then try to let's say, I don't know, kill you. This is something that we can kind of just work out away from vitamin B. And no bees. Can you ask Meredith for me about the status of these 12 about three agents? I could absolutely pass that. But can you have an answer for me when you call me back next? Oh, I thought we were going to pick a place now? No, no, no. Oh, and you should like to talk, lover. Can I reach you back on this note? Or we should just feeling you out. Literally? No, just trying to see what you knew or what you would respond to. So obviously that was her, that in the car. And obviously they probably talked to Benjamin. Well, she said it was them in the car. And you should be the... Well, how would she know there was a car and that we were at Benjamin's unless I was them in the car, right? Right, right. You should just be the diversion and then we go do our thing. Me and her? You're a diversion. They're going to be aimed at her. Look, eat them alive. Nice. I don't know how we're going to get into that place now. They're going to be expecting us. I don't know how we're going to get even through the front gate. They're going to think when she calls back with the information about the 12 balcony ages, that she's going to ask about. She's going to say, well, we don't know, but we may have some ideas and would that make everything go away? Oh, yes, yes, it would. Well, I will meet you at point A, B, and C somewhere in a good 20 minutes away. Then out of the blue, strange men show up at the gate trying to get in, posing as construction workers. Well, they won't think we're strange. He's got the idol. Well, not just that, but obviously they know what we have. They know what we can do. They want to work out a deal because maybe they are scary. If there's a substantial, look, I don't buy into any of this paranormal bullshit that's going around. But anyways, if a substantial body of water, like, say the entire coyote river was between here and Tammy's so on. I hear there's like mystical stuff about the water. Would it be able to block the psycho connection between Meredith and Tammy's song? Well, the way they seem to communicate is Michael time verbally, I guess, when we encounter them in the alley. So we want her to be in a place where she can't get a cell phone, where it's on the other side of the river, where it's deep enough that whatever psycho vibes we think are going out, can't get there. Hive mind is determined. Hive mind, there we go, right there. Boom. So we're thinking like rapid station, tower city, down in the basement, on the platform, trains going left and right, big public area, lots of cameras. There are legends of, you know, running water that will prevent supernatural creatures from crossing, but I don't know if that applies to it's just another scene. We can we put her in a place where the cell phone can't go by noise, the train, by the fact that they're underground and why city basement. That's fine, but they're still going to be expecting us headquarters. You're just you're the diversion. You're going there to actually let go. I'm not going. He's not going there. He's saying here to me. I have to go there. So we hire somebody to be here. And like, you know that you don't know enough about Sharka right now. I mean, could you research it? Sure. But off top of your head, you've made enough rules about the Sharka hosts that you know that you have no idea if they communicate through water or not or over water, excuse me. So at this point, I'm going to give you a no on that. The answer is you know, you don't know it, but it doesn't mean that you couldn't, you know, of course, research is. Yeah. If we break through the fence here or over the fence when there's a break in the guards going by, go to the vehicle, steal some paperwork or clipboards or whatever out and walk into the construction area and then get into the vitamin B from there. We don't have to go by the guards. We don't have to wait any guys. We don't have to steal their van. We're going to definitely have the ticket and security cameras and mugs going to have to. Well, I'll do my best. Mr. Hacker over here. Yeah. Is there any? That way we have a more direct route in and we don't have to alert the guys sitting up front. Yeah. That's what I mean. It does put a major kink in your idea you would ask Tate to get you a huge fogger. You're going to foot in the back of one of the vans. Now, he was uncertain whether he could actually come through with that or not. I'm such a short notice. But anyways, you have to be no major foggers going on. We'll say I'm for the party. You have to. Right. We're not whaling a van. Right. We are not procuring uniforms. Oh, well, we could wear jeans or work boots or work belts and find the shirts of the company. There's all sorts of what's that uniform tintas? Yeah, there was a do all the uniform cleaning. And we do this now. I mean, we have to do it in a very quick time frame. What do we just showed up there as like city inspectors? Time for you. That's another thing I actually thought of. We had to get the paperwork for that. Yeah. We were here to do your inspection. You have to let us sign on the site. You know, if you don't, your project comes to a complete fucking standstill. You can just forge it, right? Well, they can always make a call. The problem of that is that you go, okay, stay here, keep it be packed. Would you say these building inspectors here? No. If you can hack in and get it to the phone system, maybe you can do something. Whereas if you did the construction company thing, then they would be like, well, did you send construction? Yeah, we send construction workers over there. Oh, well, here they are, you know. They're expecting us to show up. They know we have the stuff to hold on the ritual. Okay, so you think that she was challenging you saying that don't, you know, that'd be a suicide or she trying to glove you? She obviously knows that we're planning something. Right. Just talk to her and set up the meeting for what? It has to be at Vespers, right? Or is that just harvesting that? No, that was just harvest. Are we sure about that? Do you know that Vespers would be like, what, five o'clock or something? Like a seven o'clock. That's when we had to do harvest and wings. Oh. Was that Vespers? What about the ritual? I'm like, collecting the materials had to be at Vespers. Let me double check, but I don't have anything written down there. Well, but you you understand that the 12 Valkyrie agents are who we want and what we want, and that's most important. So you're going to want to meet with Tammy and work out any deal that we need to deal. And we're just going to sit here and do nothing until that at a time. Okay. Now step out of the room. All right. I know it'd be my trough, flying my brain and taking on my body, but I am definitely not possessed. So I want to understand the full details of this plan because I'm not going on the feet. But if you understand the full details, presuming there's a plan, which there isn't because the utmost important part are the 12 Valkyrie agents and making sure that we get them back. There was any other sort of plan, which there isn't, then perhaps if you did know about that plan and you talked to Tammy on the phone or however you interacted with her and perhaps we wanted you to distract her, you knowing that plan would be problematic because you would know the plan and she could sense that something was up. What time did we actually think that I'm going to to meet with her? See, that's what time does he meet with Tammy? Okay. I am not meeting with her. The first meeting did not go well at all. It's a whole farce to get her away from the compound. There's no way I am going to meet with this lady again. She's crazy. She knows Karate. She can control bees. You take over your brain. I am not in for that. I just signed up for this, all right? What time do we want? She's dead sexy. What time do the shifts change? You said there was two or three shifts. And you're 24 hours of balance? Does construction go on 24 hours? Yes. Thanks. It's 8, 4, and 12. Midnight? Good night. Security guards. First second and third shift. So. ADM's first shift. 4 o'clock and second shift. Midnight and third shift. So we aim for four. Four. This is still daylight. Yeah. Time to hide. We're going midnight? We're walking around for three hours without a safe house. I don't know. I'm trying to say four. We're getting in position away for the right time. Oh, good point. We can go to the second safe house. At least that has been cleaned, right? And the only person that knows about it is the way I live. It's supposed to be cleaned, yes. Harry Jacob's house is still. All right. Only for you for one night. For midnight. Which one? Pick a time. If we said midnight and he got on the phone with Tammy Song and asked about, you know, we want some sort of insurance that you guys are serious, you'd be people are serious, so you have to give us something. Tell us something we can confirm. And then they give us something we can confirm. And then we run out and go and confirm it. And then, but we're still set up for midnight. See what I'm saying? We have enough time to do all of it. Just thinking out loud. I was going to say that bees normally are less active at night, but it was reviewing how intense we could are ass kicked by the bees at night here. So these are the past four nights. They're actually one of the few insects you know from your research on bees throughout this story. They're one of the few insects that actually are awake and active during the night. They don't sleep. I mean, they sleep at different times during the day, but they don't, like most insects, they don't just go to sleep for a prolonged period of time at night. Their their height is still active and there's still things going on. What is work? Well, there's no decision made. He's got a call to him. He's got he's got no one to meet her. That's got to be a decision we make. 1130. Dude, I'm not meeting her. You see, he's made the decision that he doesn't even want to be anywhere near her. Put here, or is this just the time that we want to say we will meet her? It is the time that she was going to tell her that he's going to meet her. Perhaps I'll meet her day. No, you're the- Stop thinking with your day. No, I know. Well, maybe the job has to do with her. There's a lot of stuff to do with her. She keeps calling with the two. I'll tell you she's bad news. You don't want anything to do with her. But she's Asian. So am I. You want to fuck me? Is that on the table? Because let's talk. Are you ready to have? Is that part of the plan? Just go meet her. I don't like this play at all, was it? Okay, but look, we're deciding on the place, right? Like Tower City. Tower City is great. Tower City, you owe me to Tower City. We're discussing- You said is that not is that enough time? Well, I mean, I'm time for her to come back if she stays she discovered. Right. What time are you speaking of? When you say that, will she have enough time to come back? Midnight or four? How much time would it take her to get back from Tower City to Ohio City? Probably 20 minutes when she figures out. All right, then that hopefully should be enough time to do the ritual. We'll try and take seven minutes. We're going to cross the valley. Boom boom boom, drops you right off. You just dropped it. Okay, I'm not going there. We should be believable. You have to really believe it. But I don't have to be there. Right, but you have to believe. But you have to believe you're going to be there. I can do that. Well, you're already failing. You're not going to be there. Of course, because I'm not going to be there. But I'm going to tell her that I'm going to be there. You guys, who I trust and who are my friends, I'm telling you, I'm not going to be there. But then that's all the same words. I don't be part of your mental, but dad will be part of you. Well, you didn't like my idea of like, because midnight would be long enough for us to get like some sort of, we say, give us some sort of confirmation that you're serious. At least we get some clue. That's a great idea. But what's the confirmation? I mean, what do we ask them for? What do they give us? It's up to them. Confirmation for what, what are we doing? Looking for that, what we're really here for, which is the, yeah, it's worse. I'm not trying to get that information from her. Devon, but I'm not meeting her. We're going to cut through the fence when the gap in the security is. We're going to slip through. We're going to go over to the trucks. We're going to break into one and steal some paperwork and a clipboard. We're going to walk into the construction area and move over to the gate where the regular building is. We're going to get into there using his computer controlled security system. He's going to override the locks and open up and let us in. What does that happen? Now, what's your stealth? Ice dump? Yeah, too. Not bad. What is stuff? It's under physical. Oh, yeah. I don't have. Just want to throw that out there because your plans seem to require some. We sneak through the fence and sneak it up to the trucks. We've noticed a gap in the surveillance. So there's a plus there, right? Right. Sure. And then the trucks where all the construction is taking place with the huge flood lights at night and all the guys working. We just walk up to the truck. We forgot something. Got to get something good. I mean, that's great. I just want to just, I'll be right back. I got to get something from the truck. Making sure we're all on the same thing. But is it we're not trying to do that through stealth. We're trying to do that through convincing people that we belong? Right. That's why I don't know why stuff has to do with it. He was dressed as a pizza delivery guy. You come in with those pizzas, you know, and laptops went into that thing. No one stopped the guy out. You're saying that that's how this is going to go? Well, it's just going to be like you. They know what we're planning. Timmy's song may know. I don't know why you think that other than that she kind of helped other than it that they had a car at Badgerman's follow us or try to follow us that she said that I know what you guys are trying to do. But she's like, when we're going to try and do it. All right. I didn't believe myself. Okay, dude. You totally failed. Check it. I can't lie. I can't. I just came. You said yourself there places like a military compound. It's like I said their computer security was very advanced. Yes. Since you know that there's an active person playing defensive on the computer system, would it be beneficial to send a weak ass attack in there to draw his attention and the secondary attack? That's what I was thinking. Part of the plan is to maybe set up a timer and then a certain time start a couple of routines to simulate that attack to keep him occupied when we come in. In addition to, you know, I met more from, you know, secondary fake attacks going on while your main real hack was going on. I was thinking of one of the older laptops and starting that, that diversion routine and put it in like a local coffee shop. And so while they trace it back and we go after, we actually need to get control of their system or at least get into their system. Not just, I will do my best. I can only, we'll see what, if I can do it. I mean, I failed once already. Using, I have good equipment. And you've learned now. Does anyone else have a skill with you? Yeah, one. One, three. I know what they are. Computer three. I think with the minus, we're not going to be able to help anyways. So you were the chosen one. Unless it's, let's just put me in danger. Let the spirit of Cleveland take me over. And you're the chosen one. I know I really really not hacker related. No, but I don't know. We have a lot of different plans and our threads of a plane. We can set up a couple diversions and local shops and maybe drop some of the security. You know, so that's a few less people we have to deal with. If they go running out trying to chase down, you know, these locations, because if I'm, if I'm accessing it from a laptop through a wireless connection, it wouldn't take long to figure out where I was coming in and zero in on me, right? Not, not a hazard. It has very low sophisticated equipment. The equipment that you have has probably got satellite connection rather than just Wi-Fi. True, I'm just basing my in the park. We'll still be able to connect and get to it. You can reroute through somewhere else. You know, you're off. Yeah, but I want to give them like some decoys to find and that's my point. Well, I like that plan. As decoys, you can try the Wi-Fi attack and then your primary attack over the internet somewhere. Okay, what do you say? This boundary is a park, correct? Yes. So I think we should go with whatever plane Jay comes up with and if it doesn't, if it doesn't work, it's all on him. He's in charge anyways. It's not been an hour of very interesting banter. So 10 o'clock, it was 10 o'clock when you actually got to breakfast. It's now 11 o'clock in the morning. We've got two different plans that we talked about. One is going and wailing, someone getting a truck and driving through the front. The other one is going through the back. I like coming through the back. And what's the backup plan if I can't access their security sufficiently to disable it? Or get a card to scan ourselves in? I'm going to need time. I mean, I know we've been talking a lot and if we get slack by anybody, he talks. Okay, nobody else. Dr. Lucius is the talker. Okay. Well, I'm going to need manipulation skills. That's right. Is it manipulation? I'm going to need time to do my thing. Yeah, professional. Yeah, if I'm not going to wait for our supplies to shop, so let's wait for that. I thought I already had my high-tech laptop and software. I'm talking about the non-lethal weapons and the other things for needs. But that shouldn't stop me from beginning my process. Absolutely not. Okay, so at least moving forward, I opened up the laptop, find a couple different satellites and Wi-Fi's to confuse the trace of my signal. Okay. I will take whatever countermeasures, the software, and the technology that I have available to me. Go ahead and give me a computer plus intelligence role, please. A computer plus intelligence role. You give her a call, I have five. I'm setting up a meeting for four o'clock, Jim. Do I give anything for equipment? Yeah, plus two. We're good for this particular. Am I taking anything away? Nope, it's straight up. It's the shift has changed. Three successes. All right, we find a couple satellites, a couple Wi-Fi connections to bounce your signal off those you're sufficiently hidden in the in the web to now plot your attack. Great girls, go on back. This is the site. My first I guess first step is to gain access to Greek girls. Do you want to do that now? I have wisdom taste credit card. Well, how can I do some campchats? Well, I guess if I'm, I guess I want to be clear what I'm doing is I've set up the initial connection. So at least when we begin, we should be covered at least long enough to do what we have to do. Now, if I understand correctly, if I'm trying to, am I trying to actively disable the security, like on the fly, and then once we disable it, then we're going to rush on over to. No, I would say we do it in the park before we go over that. Okay, because I don't know. It might take me, it might take me hours to do so. I'll have to sit still working on a laptop with a That's a problem. Bright monitor. I thought he should try to hack in now, make a backdoor, discover what the password is so I can get in later. If that's the route you want to take? Well, that's the route that like you're the specialist. I don't know. Okay, well, then I think that's the way to go. So I, they have to have six successes before I have X number of successes. Right. Depending on the difficulty of their system. Does that mean that they detect me immediately or that there's a chance that they have to detect me before they can actively oppose me. Oh, it means they detect you and boot you out of the system. Now, I have given you plus three guys because of your equipment. Here's where you give it and then you really take it away. And I'm going to give you a minus. I'm going to give you an extra die because you set up a few fake IPs earlier in the day. You were going to have to stop some. And you need 10 successes. Let's rumble. Dude, are you using willpower? Yeah. He's using willpower. Holy shit. Good thing you didn't risk what you're doing about that. Holy shit. Oh, no, there's okay. Wait a second. It's not as bad as I thought. I got two zeroes. Okay. Let me just do this so I can make sure again. Eight. I've got three. All right. Have you got three successes so far with two re-rolls? Don't know what the spackle does. Those are mine. All right, I'll go with you. Let's see what the two speckled would have been. Double one. Nothing. All right. I have three successes. Yes, you do. Your successes are from 10 down to seven, but they noticed you as soon as you entered in. They went for a couple of your false IPs adjusted appropriately, but the battle's still on. That was a half an hour of tense negotiating back and forth. And we go again. All right, I'm going to lift the car there so you can see that nine. It's a nine. This is a nine. Nine. I've got three successes. Down to four successes needed to break in through the system. You can see your other IPs. Down to one. All you have left is your own supercomputer that you're working on. They've closed off all your other. So you're saying that I've got to achieve four successes on this roll. And they're not succeed once. Or you could spend another willpower if you want. I'll spend another willpower. Or you could risk willpower and make an exceptional success three instead of five and two out of the best. Maybe an exceptional success will keep you in the system. I'll go with the exceptional success. Risky. He's risking his willpower. Oh, by the way, you now lose your plus one for your extra IPs because they've closed them all down. Let's go. They're messing with you back and forth through the little. I see red. Oh, nice. I see red. Oh, there's four. Four with a zero and nothing there. Nothing. You already have an exceptional because you wrote four. Right. And you only needed three for an exceptional success. They had more than enough successes to keep you out of the system. And they were one short of an exceptional success. However, you put in a small before they booted you out, you put in a small backdoor entrance that you can hit back again that they didn't seem to have noticed because of your exceptional success. Anything less than exceptional. They're doing this. Yep. So they kicked you out. They think they've succeeded and they've won. But you have your backdoor in there. And you should be pleased with that. So I didn't lose any any more willpower. Nope. No, you can't leave. So you only walk your one. Good job. That's so terrifying. I don't like having all that pressure because I don't want to sit through another two hours of planning an alternate. Yeah. And when the time comes you can access time. I knew you are a backdoor man.
