A task force member clings to life by the tiniest thread thanks to the heroic efforts of his compatriots. But no amount of medicine or magic will get him back into this fight. He's down for the count. Listen to the aftermath...
[Music] Hello and welcome to Nights at the Night Actual Play Podcast. This world of darkness storyline shitlock was written in run by our storyteller Scott. [Music] And now please enjoy chapter 7, scene 4, titled "The Big Bang Theory." [Music] I'm Greg, I play Dr. Lucius Miles, I am Jim, I play Tony Fanadillo. My name is Tom, and I play the character of Jay, also sometimes we're just Jonathan. My name is Bob, I play Chew Park. My name is Mike, and I'm playing Michael Clay. We're not done yet, you are in a building that is still structurally unsound. You've just lost a fight or escape. I'm on the fire. Where's my Cuban doll? Where's my doll? You're actually on John B. Merchedio right now. What do you do? And if you're in the basement with a character that's just been stabilized. Alright, I picked him up and started one. Karen? Roy, there's no way to do this well, and actually, to be honest. You're gonna have to come up with a game from the doctor by moving him, you may kill him. I think that's a really legitimate concern at this point of the story. Okay, so why they talk to the doctor, you two, you're on the third floor. This is John B. Merchedio's apartment, John is safely in a car out in the parking lot. I break the glass and clear the glass so we can get in. Go right into his kitchen, into his main room, into the hallway. Okay, so he goes across the hall, are you going with him or are you going upstairs? I'm going to. Okay, so you worked your way down the middle hallway between the two condos to a doorway, and then you go up the stairs. Yes, in the fourth floor, you start running your apartment. You get to your apartment on the third floor. And successful. Start packing up everything you possibly can. I gave our issued equipment that I didn't have on me. In and out in two minutes? Sure. 120 seconds? Sure. Okay, it takes you about, we're going to say 15 seconds to get to the end of the hallway run up and get to your door. Then you're inside your room. What do you, what do you have tonight? All that does. My grabbing, yeah, I'm grabbing. Maybe a friend or kid. Some other investigation here that can be shot off, shot done. Okay. Sounds to be like about two minutes or what? It looks like it could be four or five days before I'm off and move around. And because the fact that it's fire damage a lot of it, I'm actually going to impose penalties on you for that as well. Meaning that even though you might be able to be up and conscious and not medically induced coma for a year, you're definitely going to need skin grafts. Your character is F up. And so in the interim, you're going to want to make someone to play, you know, pick a conspiracy or compact just in the interim. And then you could decide then, kind of like before you could play, inside with a player, you'll have to go with that. Right, because he's one of those. Give me a hundred four points. Can only happen. And the characters you want to get. Each one of those reductions can only happen once per day. So. Here you go. Can I use perception to find a way out of this basement? Like maybe that one of the laws collapsed. Oops. Sorry. You're in a sub basement. You can see in a couple areas where, you know, the kitchen or this area, the dining room, you know, like tables and stuff to fall through. You see some openings, but the stairways probably is probably the clearest way out. It's dangerous, but it's the clearest way out, especially for him. And you guys need a plan because Lucius, you're absolutely 100% sure that moving him could kill him. Moving in can kill him. Thanks, Doc. You're thinking more like stretcher. Like you can't throw him over your shoulder like on a battlefield and just get him out of here. I'm sure you need a spatula. Like Jay would do. That's what I was doing. I was just about to grab him and throw him on my shoulder. Do I have a cell phone signal? Can I just call for it? Yes. All right, good. I'm not going to call 911. I'm going to call John on the ER staff, whatever residents on there today. I'm going to completely abuse the resident to get in the ambulance with the attendance. It's one of whom I know. It's going to call the police. The building just exploded. What? Yeah, the police are going to. So don't get used to the call police. They're going to call the police. No, please don't. They'll be here. That's great. If it's faster, that's fine. Yeah. I want our guys. Okay. Because they're going to check them in at John Smith. And John Smith's room is going to be over here. Tony's going to be up there. All right. So you call somebody. It's been a point for how to step. Allies. Excellent. Allies. No, just it's one point. It's not worth it. Okay. That's right. Allies is one to five as well. But that's okay. We'll just say you make a phone call. There's an ambulance on the way. With the special people in it. Yes. With the people that you want to be on the ambulance. Okay. What are you guys doing? Check out our guys. How are you leaving? I've known the fire's good. Not telling the fire's good. That'd be very quick to leave us. No, there's no fire escape in front. So only the people that live them back. I'm interested in everything that is. Absolutely. Cleveland. All right. I've already done the extremely safe. The upstairs. Yes. All right. These leaning out to the outside. They're permanently safe. Just because you put it out. So you both rendezvous is not like a show. You both rendezvous in the stairwell. Get to the bottom of the door. And the door does not open. I don't know. There's a pad normally speaking. You know, like a pad that you could enter in codes on both sides of the door. And nothing. The pad doesn't work. Can I make a crash? Let me see what's going on here. Sure. Yeah. A crash was. Whisk. What are you guys doing in the basement? We're making him comfortable. I'm telling him these stories. Oh, wait. It's a fake phone. I'm giving him. All right. The ambulance. I'm not leaving him. Tony. I have a chopper. It's coming. Oh, I got two minutes left. The building is starting to sway. Wait a minute. Come on. See you. Wait a minute. That's the real room. I'll teach you how to juggle. Nothing. It looks like the face on the opposite side of the entranceway has been pulled out. And you see wires sticking out. It looks like it's been tampered with. Right here. There's a keypad right here. Where's another way out? Out of window. No one ever came down the stairway. So far tonight. Yeah. He was going to go down the stairway and then change his mind. You can't get to the level of the restaurant. There's no... This stairway is outside of the restaurant that goes up to your condos. The only way to get to there is to come out here and walk to the entrance or the front window that was crashed in or to go through the emergency fire escape in the back. There's no way to get down to this level except out this door. Can I kick out the door? It's just in that evening. There's the last windows. That's awesome. Big enough for people to get through. The light bar is looking at me. Sure. Jay. You're going to report from Chew and Michael saying the front door has been tampered with. They can't get out. And the fire escapes off the building. And go ahead. Alright. What's the... I thought I had to go to the kitchen and show my way. Yeah. Can't get to the kitchen. This is separate. Alright. This entranceway was separate from the restaurant. And the fire escape is gone now. There's no way to get to the one bar. Hey guys. Guys, when I got in here, I just went through the plastic. You did good. Yes. But there's no... That's the main road. You cannot get to the stairway up in the condo. You went through the plastic and to hear through out the kitchen door and up the fire escape. Yes. There's only one front entrance. There's back end. One entrance. And the fire escape. That's it. Huh. Good plans. That's why Chicago burned to the ground. Well, I should probably... We should probably leave. You're going to have to leave in here. Okay. Now, you can get out quite easily. Just the kitchen. I understand. And now, but the building is starting to rumble a bit. Why don't you go up. And then when the entrance gets here, you're going to have to get down here. Well, are there a ground forward part of the province? Oh, that's right. The first one is about 15, 20 foot up. Right. That first level condo. It was athletics and what earned strength. You're trying to put your foot through the door? Do a little, you know, kick out the door jam and try to, you know. I am. You're trying to take the glass out. No, I'm trying to... You're trying to actually take the door out. Well, I mean, yeah. Well, if it's already been damaged from the explosion, then maybe it's a little bit loose and... I'm going... As I mentioned, Mike, sorry, real quick. As I mentioned, because there's a separate wall here between the wine bar and the next building, because there's a structural wall here, for the most part. A firewall? Yeah. Kind of like that. The stairway wasn't that damaged. Okay. So the door is not that damaged. The door is not opened. The door isn't. The security is not done because of what happened. It's man-made. That security is F with. It's tampered with. I want to make sure you understood. I understood that. What kind of door are we talking about? You're talking about an exterior steel door with like... What do you call that? That heavy glass? Security glass? Yeah, like security glass. It's pretty serious. Yeah. I have a shot. Where are you coming out of the basement and playing up? The doctor's staying with them. I'm going to fill the ambulance right there. I've got a magical dagger. So let's... Two left. One second pop. Laser sight. Let me know when I get up to the main bar low. You're going to have to make a roll. Athletics plus dexterity minus... Not a problem. At least three. White is minus three. Jumping down was very easy. Walking up much harder. Let's see. Fashing. Breaking down a door. I know. One fire escape. One side of the building can get out. And only one entrance and exit. And snipers at every window. Get up out of the basement. And then pull the building's full of CO. Yeah, it's a... It's a pretty stater to operate. Think, see, sure. You think I was going to totally lose my... One... One success. I need more than one. This is the cobalt. This is the cobalt. We fought and then done that. Yeah. I think we're going to steal cobalt. Okay. Got yourself a nasty ass door. Alright. What are you shooting for? The locks. I'll make the locks out. Sure. This is a metal door. Second. Yeah. The hinges are in the inside, right? Yeah. I couldn't take the hinges off. With my fingers. Or my... It's like a metal door. You don't have any serious hinges. You need to use them. You need to use them. You need to use them. Drop down. One of the things that we talked about everyone having were Leatherman's. It was. I believe you did actually bring up the Leatherman's at one time. And Leatherman's are that multi? It's a multi? It's like a Swiss Army knife that had all kinds of stuff. But it's very rugged, very durable, very, you know... So we all had Leatherman's. Plus I do have a magic knife. Alright. In that case, so you're not your standard door thing when you just pull out the pin? Well, you might try to pull out a pin with your hand. Yeah. I've done it before. And a door? Well, I mean in an industrial door. I mean, that's like a serious pin and a serious door. You can do it with a screwdriver. Yeah. A screwdriver. Not with your hands though. It must have been done a lot of times in the past. Oh, okay. Yeah. Stronger that the... Which raises some other questions about how you get into... Look at your head. You can use your craft skill plus your dexterity to use your Leatherman or your knife to pry out the hinges on the one side of the door and remove the door. And the longer and shorter it is, you're fine. You get out of the building. Alright. I was looking for a fire axe. But I'll go to the back alley. Sure. I'm also calling the... Right when you actually get up, the ambulance is pulling up at that time. Right back in the middle. The alley. Somebody's got to call the police and let them know there's explosion just to get the ball rolling. Well, as you're calling the police, you're here. It just goes, covers him up on the guy. He's not going to die. You hear sirens. I inform you that I'm not here to do any stuff about fire. Alright. Let's go. Come on. Hurry. And now we leave a man behind. Bye, Tony. Good to know you. No, I stay by him. And the basement at the building is shaking? Absolutely. Alright. Multiple comments. Uh, well, it's just a defibrillator. And I stay on the phone with the bar. If you look by. With the resident that's coming down the stairs and may get way better. Way bigger. Uh... Man off. Get the man down there. Yes. You, um, need with your residents. Even though, you know, he's all about helping out the doctor and whatnot. You're going to have to make a manipulation. Who wants to take his eyeball out of your tent. I believe that is persuasion. Yeah. I'm a fast-talk guy. Persuasion plus manipulation. Mm-hmm. And because of the dangerous situation. What, how many dice you got? No. You've told me the minus. No. It's just simply sizing the rules. You don't say the minus's until they say all their losses. Alright. And the sort of what? Five. I'm at, uh, six dice. Uh, you were at six dice. You are now at three dice to try to convince him to get down there. Oh, come on. I'm like... The building is shaking, Doctor. By the way, what's happening? It's going to collapse. I'm not a paid medical responder. Can you tell me to bring? Can I have the dice? Two people. Because of my status and my professional training. Again, good luck. I'll give you one extra die because of your status. Ha ha ha. How about the luck? Can you work less to do it? No, the guy is not gay. Fuck her. Maybe he can turn up. Oh, he's got a whole figure to turn him. Alright. Let's see. Good. Uh, one success. He grudgingly agrees to come in with the paramedics. Quickly. And they quickly come in and they... What's that at the shirt? Oh. I hope we're not walking in the building with all the shit while the cop show up. No. In your two minutes, you're in the parking lot. You basically arrived in the parking lot with all the stuff as the first ambulance from Lutheran is showing up. At that point, you start hearing the sirens in the distance coming forth. So, um... We also report in the J that we've recovered when we are here. We're in the parking lot. Yeah, we're gonna fill her in on everything that happened in the situation with Tony and the bomb. I'm telling you. Jay's not Jay. Jay's not Jay. No. I don't call Jay. That's your... You don't want to take that. Fire. You want to be responsible? I didn't want this responsibility. If you remember the first week... Um, after the argument... I remember who that dude. After ten minutes or so, they get down into the sub-basement. They get Tony onto a stretcher and onto some oxygen and some other IVs that are going to be helpful to help stabilize him. And they struggle up the stairway and get him out in about ten minutes' time. The fire department has arrived as well and is looking for somebody who knows what the heck is going on. Chief Johnson is at the site and looking to see if anyone knows anything about him. If anyone knows anything about what happened to him. How was you not Irish? It's clean. Well, I'm his doctor. I have to get in the ambulance. So... I'm gonna stick your hat with him. Do you only got to come up there? I'll have his insurance. I have to talk to him. I'm in a car. Me too. The fire... The firemen have kind of, like, corded off the area and they're walking around and checking things out. It's time to see a kind of damage. They've got their hoses out and they're, you know, spraying some into the fire area where some of the wood is now starting to burn. That has been on fire for a while now. I tell him that we live here and that building filled with CO. And my friend Tony went down the basement to see what's wrong with the furnace and that's less under the explosion. I really got to go to the hospital if I'm doing it. I got to... You got, like, blood spots on you from... Well, I've covered him from Tony. I got shot! My arm is soaked in blood. Alright, you're soaked in blood in dead skin tissue. You don't have to worry about it. And there's been carbonation. I'm covering up a problem. It's pretty much covered up the whole alleyway. Um, so he, you know, tries to get... You know, do you know... Is there anyone else in the building right now? How long ago did this explosion happen? Someone called it in, you know, about 20 minutes ago? Is that accurate? I don't know, I was trying to get to my friend Tony, I'm totally... Is everybody out in the building now? I think. Is your friend still in the basement? No, he's the one on the structure that was taken out. Okay. Uh, he seems more concerned with what's going on and stabilizing the situation than, you know, giving you a third degree, but he's just like, can you stick around? We might need to ask more questions. I'm sure the police are going to arrive. They're going to want to interview people for what hospital you're going to. And then be bleeding to that. No. That's fine. Well, how did you go here too? You know where I live. You're going to Metro. Yeah. What's the closest one? That's where I'm going. Okay. All right. It's been over. I walk across the street, get in my car and I drive away. With us in the van. You can get out of there. I'm kind of curious. And a couple of different issues here as I talk to you from the back seat of the cars we're driving. They called you eight and let her know it got worse. What? I said I was going to jail first. I'm going to go there. You're in a hospital. Jay clicks over to talk to Jay. Good click. Oh, she don't. Hey. Tell him. Hey. You could talk to Jay for about 30 seconds before Jay's call comes in. Jay is the leader of your group. I'm going to do something right now, but we're staying one day. It was a bomb in the building. The bomb went off. Tony served. Tony's going to be out for, in my opinion, at least 12. I mean, I think a bomb in there every day working on him. He's there for 12 days. Is he going to live? He'll be out in five minutes. Yeah, maybe he might be out like a little bit. But Tony's got all his insurance. Literally. Well done. He's still smoking. You're burning. So she wants to know, you know, is he okay? Is he going to live? What happened to him? Well, yeah. He's going to live. I mean, the bomb blew up. Then he got hurt. So the bomb blew up. Does anyone do you know what kind of bomb it was? It blows up. The meta game, I don't know. It was the 5-6 of TNT with the info. I would have no idea what that is. No, you really wouldn't have any idea, because he wasn't talking over life. It's just, you know, and with... Did I smell the nitrates in the air? I mean, you know... Technically, I mean, there was some fertilizer involved with the bomb. You know, the TNT was setting off the fertilizer. So that would mean you smell like firecracker. It smelled like firecracker, for me. And it's about all I know. Anything else to report? He's going to be okay. He's going to be down for a while. There was a bomb. I'm assuming that the building is a building gone. Everyone got out all right, right? That's what you're telling me. Only Tony got hurt. Look, I don't know that much, but I'm assuming that my patient is out, and he's going to be meeting medical care for at least 12 days. Which means... Okay, hold for a second. Jay, what's up? That's your 30 second thing. Did everyone get out all right? No, not really. What happened? Well, I tell him the same thing. Right. He wasn't explosion. Tony was caught, and then he took... He's hanging by a thread. I think he'll be okay, because Lucius is good. Right. But it was a close one. Okay. Where is John? In the car with... In the car with them? In these catches? Yes. Yes. Yes. No, yes. He is conscious. Yes, I am. No, not, I'm taking him to the hospital. No. We're taking him to a safe house. We're going to have to find somewhere safe to go. All right. I can get a hold of Winston and try to find a temporary place for the night if you need a place to crash safely. Literally. It sounds to me as if you need to take a few timeouts just to get organized again. It's a reason collector. Yeah. Because it sounds like someone is on your ass right now, and really trying to screw you with you guys. Give my phone a little hard. I mean, the attack was bad enough, but... I mean, that sounds coordinated, and so whoever's hitting you is hitting you hard, and we don't know if they're done yet. So we need to get you to a safe house. So let me get Winston on the phone, and let me see if I can find a safe house for you guys to go to. Obviously Tony can't go to a safe house because it sounds like he's too damaged, but I'll talk to Lucius and direct him into where you guys are located at because he should be everybody as much in danger to our knowledge right now as you guys are. So that's all on your big game plan? Yeah. We're going to stand on the move and go here. Good. Please do so. Lucius, are you there? Yes. All right. You're taking Tony of the hospital, correct? You think it does? Yes. Like you put me on a whole huge bitch. But I'm cute, and I wear nice suits. I'm so fancy. With wide love house. Yes. Nice. And a nice toothy smile. She tells you, I would... I'm going to talk for Winston right now, and I'm going to say that when you drop Tony off at the hospital, keep your phone on, we are going to contact you. You are going to go to a safe house for the rest of the night, and into the morning, we don't know who else is out there and how they're targeting you. Do not go back home. Do not stay in your office in the hospital. This attack is so coordinated. We're worried that they're going to be looking to take each of you out in your environment. For the other members of the group, that was the wine bar. Jade, why don't you tell me the safe house, and give me a general idea where the safe house is, and I'll just redirect the ambulance to a hospital closer to the safe house. That's a great idea, but I'm not sure which safe house we're going to use. We have several in the area. We've got about two minutes to figure that out. Well, no, I'd like you to take them to your hospital. I feel comfortable with the fact that you have some control, and you will have contact with people working in the hospital. That's important to protect Tony right now. So, I think that's a good idea, but I will get back to you shortly. I'll take it when it's on the phone. So, I'm going to hang up, but keep your line open, okay? What are you doing this evening? It's 4.30 a.m. in Washington, D.C. I am in my jammy pants, and I don't have makeup on, and I am trying to get this solved because I'm very worried about you guys. I know. It's a question. Well, I'm pretty sure we'll be talking during breakfast. So, yes. I guess we will do breakfast together. Okay. I'll mug you. All right. So, she hangs us. Oh, cute. Yeah, basically. And five minutes later, there's a call to your cell phone, Jay. You guys are driving about, basically, just keeping active. Yeah. And there's going to be a safe house located. It's not as clear as an informer. Well, actually, now it's almost 5 a.m., and there's actually some traffic on the street. But there's a street called Vine Street that she wants. She's going to direct you to, which is in the northern part of Ohio City. This is Vine Street right here. It's very verdant there. It could be verdant. And there's going to be a safe house there. She tells you where the key is going to be located to the safe house. And the fact that it's not the accommodations you had before, but they'll try to, you know, once we get this solved, and you say, we'll try to then get you into a location that is where you want to drop your little TV towel off before we go to the safe house. Drop it off. Hell, yes. That thing isn't coming into the safe house. You think that had anything to do with that? I don't care whether it does or doesn't. It's not coming into the safe house. All right. Swing by. You receive a call right after that. Luke's just telling you the same thing. There's an address on Vine Avenue, Vine Street. Vine Court, excuse me, and she gives you the address. Okay. Please hide there as soon as you get Tony safely in the hospital. Do not stay at the hospital any longer. When we checked Tony in, I grabbed basically threatened all the residents. Right. It's just a general principle. Hey, assholes. Oh, jeez. Everybody starts clearing out. This guy's a tiger. I threatened all of them. And, but more importantly, a nicer to the nurses in assuming... Still, hey, man. We're checking Tony in to room, whatever. She's not nice tonight. Luckily. Wait a minute. This is a different hospital. We're checking Tony in to room, whatever, but Tony's going to... Right, next to you, considering? Some other room far, far away. Right. The old double switch as you pulled off with Ethan before, to keep him protected. Right. And the nurses are happy to take care of that. And they will... You know, there's not a ton of options for them because of the amount of burn damage he has, but they will mislabel the room. But it's going to be the same floor, and it's going to be in the same place. It's going to go overboard. Yeah. Yeah. They'll do the best they can, but if someone... Well, you know what you're looking for. The burn ward is going to be like elevator, or you have to go into somewhere. Yeah. And you're going to have to go to somewhere. There's desks you have to pass. There's checkpoints you have to make. And if you do all that and you have to go to room one-on-one on the burn ward, but he's actually room four-on-one. Right. That's a big difference. It is. I'm not saying... I'm just letting you know that it's not... In this particular case, it's not quite as easy to put them wherever, like Ethan. Why? Because Ethan was just... Any ICU would have done for Ethan because of the burn damage a little bit more. Although they probably won't be able to recognize them on the plus side. Exactly. Seriously, they won't. I'm labeled as a girl. Funny though. It just may be a girl. Now he might be. Yeah, unfortunately he might be. And this is where we're going to wrap for the night. I'm going to jump in really quick and let you know that we've reached the end of this scene. If you'd like to continue listening, we go on for about 30 more minutes. And each of the characters give an overview of what they think's going on in this story. Not necessarily listening, and you won't miss any of this story if you just skip the rest of this recording. But if you do enjoy that, please feel free to continue listening. And as always, thanks for downloading Nights of the Night. But we can certainly fall off. That last second he covered up his vitals just... It's like soccer game. That was a one hit. It comes to pre-kick yet. You don't want that in time to stick it down on the vibe you cover up. Now it's my last piece of aggravated that didn't get aggravated. Yeah, he just took bashing damage. Yeah, took lethal damage, but not aggravated damage. Kevelard cuff, right? You're pretty much going to need 98 percentile burn. Yeah, I mean, seriously. Of the 14 lethal and aggravated hit points he had, 13 of them were used. So, you know, if math, if you treat, you know, if you use the math there, you're looking at... No, that's not true. 91% of his body. No, it's seven and he has those pretend three slots for each one. It's 21. Oh, wait a minute. And he only filled... he only took five at three, 15. No, you're actually... No, you're right, he's true. He's covered 91% of his body. Yeah, it's pretty bad. Right. No, I think that... It's like 70... Yeah. It's like, yeah, we saved them all. He had no crap. We saved them. I'm going to be part of those. And... Who's the fudge? Who's the fudge? You worshiped the chocolate. Yeah. Satan's chocolates. Where? Very good. So, where do I get chocolate? It's special. Let's take all the extra, um... And give it to you. Who points may I ever get? And we give it to me and I'll add it on to the health, so I'm actually helping you now. Yeah. It's only half. It's only half. Okay, everyone holds diet 10 and... So they need the burnies. Let me know what you got. Diet 10, gentlemen. I roll the one. I roll the three. I roll the two. First is Greg. This is... Well, I'd first like you to talk about right now, Greg, is what did you learn story-wise tonight? Not anything else. Just a roll about the story line. What do you think you're able to add to the story as you know it, meaning unraveling the mystery? Okay. Okay, one, the fact that they could get into and into the basement is somewhat concerning for me because that indicates that this is not just a small isolated thing. This is organized almost a hive mentality. People that they could just send out to do things without repercussion, without... It would not matter to the person doing the thing that they get caught. They get this. They get that. And also, you know, I look at some of the news reports and things like that, and it's interesting that the queen killed off her family, which is, you know, kind of keeping it in the whole bee velocity and interesting. And we have to find Meredith. That's my name. Okay. Well, it looks like they're taking a fight to us, and again, the question is how do they discover where we were located, and it has to do with, you know, the bees, when they escape the body of what's his name? Henry. Henry Jacobs. He communicated with the rest of the hive, you know, where we were located, and we might be, you know, persons of interest. Okay. You know, trying to close down their operation or whatever, so... I don't know. We have to maybe conduct some more surveillance on them, maybe straighten back. And we'll find out how Billy is involved with this. He seems to be like, I don't know, the ex-factor or so. Sure. So I think we should definitely track him down and try to question him throughout what he has to do with all this. That's a good idea. Any conclusions? You gave me some. I just want to make sure I'm following up, just to let you know. Any conclusions, this would be a time to name them. Like, you're putting guesswork out there to say, this is what I believe, too, as well. So, you know, you mentioned Billy and how you guys have to look him up. Is there something that you believe about Billy, you know, what do you believe about him? Do you have a conclusion yet, or was nothing revealed this week to really give you anything? I don't know. There's too many questions. I don't know. I don't know. I have enough information. And that's okay. Jim, what do your character learn tonight besides demolitions is hard. Sometimes when you play with fire, you get burned. Yes. Well, blown up. Burned. Yeah. Sometimes when you crack it. Or when you play towards your bird shoe or your... Enterprise? Yeah. Sometimes it doesn't work out that well. But anyways, what I did learn is that we really don't know any more than we did before. We're still still got a lot of unanswered questions and nothing that we know for certain. And we're waiting on, like, some information back from headquarters about... Look this up. Look that up here. Somebody's checking these people out and trying to get information. But as we're waiting for information to come back from them, our enemies are also getting the information on us and hitting us. So there's kind of a... we need to know and find out what's going on. But at the same time, the bad guys are finding out more about us and trying to stop us from finding things out. And, you know, there's a lot we need to know, like, exactly who is going to be and what is their goals and what's going on. Mike, you don't know that? Oh, sorry. Jim. Mike? Well, the thing I've learned so far is that, you know, we're scratching the surface, but we're not reading the clues right or we're not getting enough information. And so we're in a situation where we're reacting. And there's at least two forces that we're reacting to and possibly a third, if I understand it correctly, or by my count, because there's a lot of unknowns. What are the two forces? Well, the one is the... Benjamin. The other one is the vitamin B. And, you know, a third... something that concerns me is, you know, getting a bomb into this place and setting it up and we still didn't even really get to see how they blocked up all the vents or the intakes to cause the CO2 to build up. Right. So, was this in place before we even showed up? Because I don't think a lot of time has passed, you know, since we have been in this apartment. Did they somehow get in and plant it? And we didn't, you know, detect it at all, which, you know, speaks to some, either their incredible stealth or our incredible lacks of security or detection or whatever. You all miss your goals. Let's wake up. I mean, everyone missed their goals. I mean, I know, but still, it just, you know, it seems... If you get... we were sniped at to keep us in the building presumably, then to burn it down in an explosion, in a CO2 explosion that would eventually be revealed. I mean, you'd have corpses, burn corpses, and bullet holes in it. So, I'm just not entirely sure if there's another element and sometimes part of me makes me feel like, you know, maybe we need to go completely off the grid and not call in and rely on Jade or call in and rely on Winston and start. You know, part of me even thinks, you know, but then I've been behind the desk for a while, so let's keep that in mind. I feel cooperative very long, and I deal with things, not the people and the enemies, but part of me would like to fire bomb and molotov cocktail the new construction at B, vitamin B. You know, just to lash back a little. Raise hands. Part of me. You know, I'd like to give the idol back to Benjamin and say, "Hey, look, I took this. This probably belongs to you. Hey, no hard feelings." I don't call it the dogs. I don't know. It's just a couple of different things. I want to have some time to maybe do a little research on what to try to figure out this thing. That was supposed to be tomorrow morning. You were supposed to meet one of your elders at the Cleveland. I got an appointment for an hour, in fact. Yeah. Four hours. No sleep. Rough night. Well, okay. That was a lot of good stuff. Tom, anything new that you learned tonight, Storyline, or any kind of thing you like to put out there, conclusion-wise? I mean, there was one thing I started bringing up before and I didn't finish, but we have the first guy who started this whole mess. Henry. Henry was telling us about, he's had bad luck for the last three months. Actually, he said shit luck, but, okay. Dad said he lost. Thanks for helping. Three months ago, he met this guy, Benjamin. The corpse is dead when we tackle it, all the bees go away, and it looks like he's been dead for three months. Three months? Three months ago. Apparently, Jim would like to make that conclusion as well. That's who the bandages are. Did you mention it during the history? I don't think he did. The bandages stopped him. So, is that something we're overlooking? That seems awful coincidental. Henry's full of bees. Who put the bees in him, and they've been in there for three months? Who killed them? Who is animating him with bees? Now, we think it's a vitamin B company because those are the guys that were keeping us in this building. Again, we think being controlled by the bees. What's that? Greg did not think that was a very good argument. No, no, I was, I was joining. It became already classified as a non-thread and not even in the game. What? I'm sorry. Let him finish his conclusion, and then we can debate the points. Okay. So, you know, it seems likely that the vitamin B company is the one controlling people by bees, but you have Benjamin as the beekeeper. You know, and he's the one that met Henry, and Henry died on the day or nearly the day that he met Benjamin. So, you know, it's just not quite falling into place for me. I'm not quite sure who's animating with bees. And yeah, the attack on this was incredibly coordinating. You had, you know, doors locked and sealed, and so there's no ways in people watching the entrances. Make sure we can't. And a bomb that's going to go off in the basement that we almost overlooked. Um, they couldn't kill us all. I was waiting for you guys to go down there, and I was thinking, "Wow, wow, this building might go down." And I was going to go down and check that out. Yeah, you did? I'm going to go down and check that out when I'm putting it. Going back to the Benjamin. Okay, are you waiting? Well, let's see if Tom's done with this. Yeah, no, more or less I'm done. I mean, that seems to me the thing that there was nothing really overtly new. We've got a picture of the guy in the uniforms that may lead back to the bee corporation as far as their security people. But that still doesn't mean that they were behind this attack. Benjamin could have been the one to fill them with bees. And so who's trying to take Henry out in the very beginning? For what purpose though? Benjamin's trying to kill him, or is his own company's trying to kill him because Benjamin's control? I don't know. It's a lot less clear than I thought. I'll put it a couple of weeks later. Well, let's go back to why were we originally sent him. We were all gathered together, Siren sent us here. Why? What was our mission? We were trying to do recovery cover them. Or find out what happened. We basically just wanted to find out what happened. Well, we're finding out what happened. The cover would be nice. Do we know if these two bodies were turned in? No. Okay. That's why he took pictures to see a thing. They might be about three agents. I mean, we can pour it back and say they got mixed up in this little weird bee work. That's what happened to them. We're done. We're done. But that's the reason why you were sent here, Greg, is to find out why 12 Valkyrie agents died. I don't think they were agents. We don't know. I think they were security guards from the court. When you drove by, to be fair, it is a good point. When you drove by vitamin B, there were security guards manning the outside of the building and the gate into the parking lot. Uniformed security guards. But at the same token, these guys were clean shaven and did not look like vagrants and the whole Valkyrie viewpoint is, you know, it's an acceptable viewpoint as well. I'm not telling one or the other. I just don't know if you guys remember things, Mike. I don't know if you guys remembered that far back. I think what Bob/Chu is saying is maybe the Valkyrie agents were assimilated. Correct. I think that's what he was going for too, right? Were you going for it too? Yeah. It wasn't just that, you know, that they were being used, but they were being now controlled by and they're all known. And you're all known, so. And if I went to grab someone else but then the corporation. If I had that appointment. If I didn't know, exactly. Or whatever their agents could kill. And then V.I.'s them to make them. Tell me why I'm here next week. We want to do an interview or we have a business meeting with a salesman for Biden and V and we want to get it in order. Like Jacob, Henry Jacobs, but it was a female who called. Yeah, female. Chu asked for somebody to call and then he called back and said, "Yeah, once the appointment, we've got our products." So he wants to do it in some secluded place. It has hopefully some safety. Like, did you say the hospital or something like that? Yeah, hospital. It was like a quarantine. So when the V's escaped, they have nowhere to go. And we can capture them somehow. You can check their smooth, low-key aura. Real quick, before we lose Mike, let's. All right. Or we just go to Meredith's house and magic. Kidnet. Perfect. We now talk about, so we make conclusions. We go around the table and make conclusions about what's happened in the story tonight and what ideas you now have and it's worth experience points to see who gets closest, et cetera. Now, we switch gears and we talk about, and this is for practical experience. If we talk about what did your characters see tonight of a supernatural nature that they learned? What thing knew did you learn about supernatural creatures or the people you're fighting against? Absolutely nothing. And that means that could be a very viable answer that you didn't learn anything tonight. But I want to give everyone a chance to go around the table because it could be worth, if you make a right statement, it could be worth practical experience. So Tom actually went last with the story line. He gets to go first. Yeah, and I think of anything that I saw that revealed anything more of the magical nature. And it doesn't just have to be magical, but almost be like how they work, how they operate, you know, things along those lines as well. So just put it out there. Well, I mean, as far as how it's just reiterating the same thing, which is, they seem extremely meticulous and they have looked at every possible angle and not just taken one, but many different ways that they could have killed us. The gas outright could have killed us. The explosion could have easily have killed us. If we tried to escape during the gas, they were going to gun us down. There was layers upon layers in their attack. If they asked me, they were making doubly and triply sure we were. There was something they got to knock us off and then blow up any evidence that was behind or what even happened. Well, wait one second just to make sure we go around to you and like you're next. Did you learn anything about the supernatural tonight that you did not know before tonight began? I don't think in, for my care or for Michael, that there was any real exposure to the supernatural because he had been passed out from the gas and wounded with a bullet. Right. And then once he was revived by Jay, everything was pretty much mundane. I had that and I was that part of that part. And mundane, though, can still be in this part because you can learn that creatures of a supernatural nature need to use mundane tools or mundane things and that's something that you didn't know before. Well, yeah. I mean, here's the thing that I see. They're clever enough to make a fairly sophisticated bomb. Well, it's actually one thing you mentioned earlier though that you could use in this segment, which was their attacks were extremely mundane. That their power seems to only be one that they're showing, which is to control people. Right. Okay. Good point. Yeah. I mean, what was your point? Well, yeah. But we're being attacked by guns. They have physically destroyed doors, locks to therefore prevent us from escaping. They've covered exits. They've created a way to lock up a pretty common way to die in Cleveland, which is a carbon monoxide poisoning. They've utilized common explosives and what to create a pretty sophisticated bomb. Right. And they apparently have the, maybe this is part of the magic, but I didn't hear anyone tearing apart a door, a metal steel door, which I'll imagine took a little effort. We didn't hear it. Where was the door turned? Over here. The security pad. It was ripped out of the wall. Out of them. You know, they were able to sneak in locked doors. Doorway entrance. And presuming, of course, see, my concern is since we don't have any, we haven't established when that bomb was there. So that bomb could have been there even before we got there. And that's why many of the weeks. I kind of don't. If only you had a forensic expert. Well, if only they didn't get destroyed in a blast in fire. Well, that's true. I mean, I just, well, I just. I understand I got it. You could be correct. I'm sorry. No, I, it's. I'm assuming all the evidence would be destroyed. The point. That's really absolutely. It just seems like you know. Fire. I mean, the fire experts that go into, you know, arson investigators who I was looking for, when they go into places, no, the way the damage occurred. The force of the damage. There's pieces still left after an explosion like that. There is forensic evidence. That's true. Regarding the explosion. Unfortunately, that's right. It'd be investigated by the Cleveland police department. I would be very curious to see. If only you had somebody who can break into computer systems and bomb materials came from the construction site. Yeah. You know, and where are the construction site, you know, I don't know. Okay, and some of it may well in the manure, you know, obviously not but fertilizer actually, and I think it's fertilizer not manure But if you're but that's an important question because if they put the bomb before we got here, then there's a leak Scary that ought that's a big thing. I'm going to cross you just briefly Jim anything learned about supernatural tonight There's not to be like you get much to do with a certain supernatural primes much if you did Just cleaning up the what was going on and disarming a bomb and moving bodies around Okay, just sorry. Oh, yeah tempting pop Nothing really supernatural Again doesn't have to be supernatural. You could be learning how they act, right? Yeah, but again, nothing really supernatural. Okay use really conventional methods and that seems to be the Method of operation for the vitamin G corporation. Yeah, I'll take it down. I'm sorry. You cut job. I was great. We go down to see a You know monster beehive or something down there and yeah I was shocked to see just a conditional. I was expecting to see y'all or events in the building covered up with you know wax or nothing from a Buoyant wax or beehive or whatever exactly which is They're about to seem to be conventional. Where as Benjamin seemed to be much more supernatural That's a very valid point and it seems to be more the you know in this for natural magic user or whatever He he got us lost an amazing right trying to blow us up But I mean totally different right and Benjamin Different there could have attacked us when we were there you are obviously invading you know in his yard We shouldn't have been there. He was just defending himself I love him. Don't you you love the naked bastard? Covered in bees at the beard Okay, but yeah, I don't I mean he's definitely involved in this but I don't see him as being the The bad guy in this nice distinct correct or investing in I also wait. Let's look right at his word out and then we're done I just I go back to the I mean Sorry, I haven't been here for a couple weeks that's okay. It's hard to catch up No, I'm going back to June 25, 2007 the family with me late That you know Meredith Berg is that something that bees do I know they kill the young Louise no, they killed her they killed the mating Interesting they killed the mating way what an interesting observation. I don't know if they're particularly called Kings They're they're they're typically drones actually I'm just assuming you guys have researched these at this point and that jerk around it Also, she was the mother of twin children and they're both dead as well. So there's no The point is It was written in the article. I thought the Queen's always killed it. No it's twin children But the point is and then you know when we can do it There was, you know, at least one traffic violation of before this When we got the other one that was pointed out that one we read three months apart and it was a Violation 45 48 the one that was in the same 45 48 is a wrong way on a one-way street 45 11 is a parking violation Oh, yeah, I don't know. Let's take that is 45 36 is All right, okay. This is according to the scarring dollars. All right. Excellent. So a 925 2007 something happened then That was before this accident. I mean it was after this accident. So I I mean Let's say nice woman of two mother of two infected somehow becomes The Queen me, maybe it's red, but the plan I'm stuck on is high school education Yeah, and she's a CEO of a company Well, someone brought that up kind of seeming at least successful with that. I don't know if you were here for it if you There all this stuff seems to be happening around where the vitamin B is Rebuilding there, you know, right, right? So there's something there's something like about the location that there's there's a clue there the date that the city that the Right, they wanted that location actually we asked Jake to look up that location. Yes. He said you get into you tomorrow Typically the Ohio City Building Commission used an omission on the part of the deceased owner's lease Deceased the property and of eminent domain. It was that totally and that's one of the reasons why we want to see Billie something that needs to be stated, and I think you know this right guys want to make sure I say it to make sure that you know Around vitamin B to their complex there has really revitalized that that neighborhood Well, other businesses that are have nothing to do with vitamin B other businesses have grown in that area since they kind of it was like a very downtrodden area a couple years back and Now it's a very very Like commercial people are walking about leave with right? Yeah, so anyways, I just thought that you mentioned because It was something that somebody brought up a couple weeks ago about the fact that It was really busy there, and it was very The neighborhood would be just lifted by this company coming and putting their headquarters right there Flowers to make their money I mean, I know this all about the supernatural I Know I wasn't present for this whole Benjamin thing, and you know, hey, man. You wouldn't walk around with your dog Well, you risked your life I don't really comment on that other than to say that I see this whole thing the queen workers and drunk And I'm still I still don't have a sense of what really is the conflict like Why did Valkyrie get picked off or what would happen to them and why are we being? If we have to really do has anyone asked them why about groups sending here? Yes, many times Oh, I can tell you the answer. Go ahead tell the answer is it's it's Valkyrie told us nothing all we know is that the people went and the people died when we asked about for you Went in there what they were doing what they found out what the people's names were Belkry said F you this is our business will take care of it And that's why siren was formed because look we kept saying we're gonna keep on people in the guy and it takes it no So we're so I'm going to go in right siren could not get answers and actually the leader of siren Winston Tate Maybe an ex Valkyrie He's an operations manager, so then let me know that we couldn't get your siren Right. I mean, but up to that point. He couldn't get any answers People working there started siren to say I want answers I want to stop chewing people up and he actually got the government to shut down Valkyrie so they could not send any more agents to Cleveland investigate this maybe and this task force was created for that purpose maybe Benjamin fits in this is some strange way as like Maybe he's the pseudo You know religious majestic Magical maybe he's got some sort of tie-in to whatever weird stuff that goes on out there and somehow Somebody wanted to take that a little bit corporate a little bit weird, you know a little bit more Take over an area seat experiment. See if we can take over this spot See if we can go this they take this nice little lady they Effect her with something and she becomes the queen bee and let's see after that And we can do all that but Benjamin's trying to be Wait a minute. Isn't that what your people do? by humans Something you said a little bit maybe think I don't know if there's a connection here, but Your combination of something both of you said Benjamin is more or less a major some sort well You're definitely definitely an earth major a major character in my opinion mages And I have I have some book called experience, but maybe you have better being more directly involved But do they ever have apprentices? I don't know if I know that all right, I don't know I'm just asking the question like like you said this I was to person all of a sudden it seems to be thrust into this power and it's like okay. Well, you know, maybe maybe it was Years ago just Benjamin right of the thing and now someone who's more modern more current has broken away from Benjamin With knowledge gone rogue and we're not broke on road guard modern and is being a little more married It never worked for this. We don't know oh and Mike most of your characters background with Ages Kaidoru Their take on witches are usually that there is a They usually operate groups right and it's you know, so Typically kind of yes in the sense that there is a group of mages working together not usually a solo mage off on his own That's standard are there plenty of mages you've heard about in history in your in your readings that have been solo Yes, so Benjamin could fit that but could Benjamin have had partners or apprentices It's it's you asked it in the game, you know, what your character would know that's what your character would know regarding No major wait your answers. Yes, they you would so maybe there's I mean, maybe there's Research and then why wouldn't Benjamin just tell us? Because we're beneath this notice You know, we also turn on my terms. We can't approach into his place. Oh We go back to the man's answer is door. That's perfectly legitimately breaking his bike We can break into his place What is that guy? Benjamin me is his physical appearance The way he acts and what stuff he does Just lends to think that he's not he's not human well as far as normal human people are he looks like us Like either like a small child or even a girl almost so it said there's something about his parents It just just isn't really normal. I think a whizzin old man. Just kind of like you maybe he's like all the pianists here And also all the people we have seen already Be people have to be in the night Benjamin has to be down the outside. Yeah, which is kind of odd and I don't I don't think And I don't think the CEO The the B company is in charge of anything Well, we know what she did Thanks for listening to nights of the night actual play podcast Visit kotn podcast calm for more information on this and other adventures Where you will find character stats photos storytelling perhaps and even a forum for comments and suggestions Or you could email us directly and to feedback at kotn podcast calm all music for this podcast has been created and performed by Zen audio Smith If you'd like custom professional music created for your podcast or business, please visit Zen audio Smith calm That's all for now.
