KOTN Actual Play Podcast 17: Shit Luck: Ep. 18: "I got this.. I got this!"
[Music] Hello, and welcome to Nights of the Night Actual Play Podcast. [Music] This world of darkness storyline, shit luck, was written and run by our storyteller Scott. [Music] And now, please enjoy chapter 7, scene 3, titled "I Got This." No, I got this. [Music] Before we get into the actual play session, I'd like to be happy to eat that. We haven't gotten Tom lately. At the very least, we should wish all of our listeners a very Christmas and happy holiday season. I agree. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to our listeners. Thanks for taking the time to listen, and we hope you have a great holiday season. All right, we have some feedback from a listener, lost heretic. The White Wolf forums said, "I listened to the first few episodes last night while I was making a new V-T-E-S deck, which I think is Vampire of the Eternal Struggle." I appreciate that the players stay focused and on topic. That's a really important feature of normal podcasts, and it's necessary for actual play podcasts to even work. It especially means the players are interested and engaged, which is always good. Keep it up. Good editing. Yes, it's pretty much what it was like. I think that was, was that part of my response on the actual forum? I think I might have just said that. But yes, editing does help make it sound like we're always on top of our game, but I will say that I'm actually very pleased with the players being engaged in the story. Lost Heretic, by the way, has his own podcast. It's the Darker Days Radio podcast. I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but I thought I'd give a shout out to him. You did? Actually, I listened to it today. That's pretty good. Oh, okay. Well, there we go. What's it about? It's World of Darkness based. Oh, it is, yeah. Is it like talking about supplements? It's the rules. The episode I heard was 15 or 16 minute long one, and it was news on different subjects. He was talking about Eddie Webb and the scans that were going in, the quality of them, the PDFs they were creating and stuff. Darker Days Radio episode 15 was when I listened to every song. Right. So why don't you do that podcast one more time for... www.darkerdays.tk. So, Lost Heretic, thanks very much for listening in, and I'll have to check out your podcast as well since time is giving it a thumbs up. We also got a second piece of feedback from an iTunes review. Oh, great. Say, Sir Jay Kwan of What's Chester? What's Chester, New York? At Justin, what's Chester? All right. The review is five star, and it says A++ is the title. You guys are amazing. You are really capturing the tabletop gaming experience, and it's just inspiring. I would worry less about the rules. Your ability to spin the storytelling is cinematic is great. Just keep it up. I don't want to praise anyone person as a group. I'm seriously on the edge of my seat, waiting for more of your story. The music is the best idea ever. Sound effects for the win. Beware the hive. Thanks, Jay. Five star review from Jay Kwan. Yeah. There's a couple sites out there, Jay, if you're a player yourself, and wish to partake in the sound effects that we have for the ambient background music, it's FreeSound.org. If you can put a link up on the... Yeah, we'll put a link up on the website. I use that for a lot of, you know, when there's cars or rain, or you're in a library, or you're in a hospital or whatnot, we do that, and then there's also another site where there's some great MP3s with some songs and whatnot that we play. So thanks very much for the kind of compliments on the story, and I'm sure the players appreciate it as well. And for the five star review. And for the five star review. And back to the start. Okay. I'm Greg. I play Dr. Lucius Miles. I am Jim. I play Tony Bonadillo. My name is Tom, and I play the character Jay. My name is Bob, I play Chew Park. My name is Mike, and I am playing Michael Clay. You can't see it here. Say it out, and then I walk up and look at the time. Alright. Peace out. There's some messages coming over the phones. Really? At this point, gentlemen. There's a bomb down here. Get the hell away from the building now. Tony's with you, right? He's supposed to go with his stuff. Well, I don't know how good. That's why I'm getting the fuck out of here. He told me to leave. It looks like you have some more vicinity of another. It's about 4.45 right now. Anything you got about 15 minutes before it goes? I don't think there are patients, people. Can I make a roll? To know, approximate percentage chances are disarming it. I'm out. I was healing you, and this was my fabulous roll. I'm healing you. I haven't rerolled these yet. Wow. Yeah. Oh, no. Is it a critical success? Oh, yes. Incredible. Oh. Another one. So 9, 10. 10 successes. Wow. Double. Greg is definitely the king of the double. All are not success. All are nothing kind of healing. That's my friend. That's my friend. Any of the self-doubt you might have had or girlfriends who have thwarted you in the past and left a mark, you feel better about it. Your future relatives are healed. Wow. Wow. You know the vasectomy you thought you had? It didn't happen. Wow. That's what your took. Witch plus craft. Nice. Nice. Nice. Yeah. That's about it. All right. As you're figuring that out, I have a question. How big is this bump? I'm thinking of the darting. I'll tell you what the counter is. I'll tell you what the counter is. I can figure it wrong. Does he heal fast? I rolled nothing. No successes. No successes. You have no idea if you can handle this or not. But you know that you now have about 13 minutes or so before the entire building blows. It looks like there's about five sticks of TNT, a couple ounces of the info. I'm going to decide. And then some stuff out there. I am so getting away from this building. I'm going to go and get my investigative. Well, we should warn other people. I'm arrogant. Tori says he's got it. Yeah, right. And you also didn't even know what it looked like on the last roll. He didn't express that with anyone. I don't know what it is. I don't know how they made it, but I'm going to disarm it. It's got wires to timer. How tough could it be? Wow. Good Lord. Let me get my shirt. My favorite lane. Actually, I am going up to my room and getting my stuff out because if we're going somewhere else, I want my shotgun in my suit. Yeah. I hastily tagged it. You don't feel like you have enough time for them to do that in disarmament. Like, you can't wait for them to clear out their rooms. This has to be done now. That's what I'm saying. I'm saying, good luck. If you go in, you're taking your chances and getting out of time. It's like my gun. You going in? Oh, I have. He's telling you. I have paid that I can get my stuff out. Is there any reason why I really need to go hard at that pad? My poetry says I can get my stuff out. No one is chasing you out of your house. This one's going up with explosives. That's like, hello. Just to make it a trifecta, I'm going down the basement. You want to wait a couple? Give Tony hope. Tony. I thought you had some lust to watch him. I'll get blown out. I'm going to hold the plug. Yeah. Now, everyone is out in the alley with the exception of Tony, who is in the basement. And he is telling you, I have 13 minutes to disable this bomb. I do not recommend you go in the building, but don't you need to do it. Do what you need to do. Do that. I can't put the bomb on hold. Well, then let it go out. I'll get a grab. Better chance I'll happen. I'm not letting them blow up the building. That's what Tony says. For me, I have faith in you, but prudently I will be back over a year. You're a cupidoll is upstairs. One of your artifacts. Who cares about the building? Someone drove a car through it a couple of days ago. This thing is a piece of shit. I'm going into my virtue and my greed. My virtue says I can do this and my greed says I don't want to do that. Tony, do you have any idea how big the blaster is? Yes. This building will go down and possibly could take down as much as the Great Lakes Brewing Company down the street. Disabled the bomb. I'm trying. What? It's fine. It's even more. The more potent piece of it is the anso, the fertilizer bomb that's on top of that. And then the CEO that's in the air on top of that. So you've got a bunch of very natural. What's your width plus craft Tony? Five. Five. My weaponry explosives is three. Hey, are we doing this? I don't know what you guys are doing. I'm going to go get my gun. You want to tell him I stopped working on the bomb that might explode that he might set up before he goes in? There's no time. He's got to take it out. It's his job. It's what he does. I'm not even listening to people saying, "Can you wait just a minute before I start?" I'm trying to do the job. We'll go up to my room and get my shit. You have seen this before. Like in your training. You have to run across this because it's your specialty. The normal minus we're trying to disarm a bomb that's electrical in device in nature is minus one. And then minus two because you did not build it. So that's normally minus three. But because of your training and because of your experience in the military, I'm going to take two of those away. So you're only minus one guy. And I'm using. No, under the music I saw. I'm using craft plus. You're using wits plus crafts plus your demolition expertise. I know it's in your weaponry, but I'm going to allow it to apply in this case. This is a combat situation. It's not a combat situation, but it's definitely a new scene. It's a whole breathing thing. Do I have any minuses? No, he's focused right now. And it's not as bad down here because there was a little bit of leakage from the CO. But really where the heating units work. This is actually an unheated sub-basement. So it does not have a lot of the CO in it. We've had eight dice and I'm wondering. I gave you a minus one first because you held your breath coming down here not knowing. Now you don't need it. No one else is down there, right? Everyone else is stepping far away across the parking, where your cars are in the parking lot. Okay. Well, I'm agonizing about the artifact. I am going to go with curtains and back up the box. Fair enough. And fair enough. I think Lucius probably is doing the same thing. I would imagine packing away. Oh, he's got nothing in his building anyway. He's packing away. Nine dice? Are you going to have to use stuff? Huh? Are you backing away? Oh, I got to go. Oh, yeah. I'm ordering this stuff. I'm ordering this stuff. What I'm doing right now. I'm upstairs getting my sniper rifle. That gives my rifle. Nobody's taken away. I do have my headphones. Yes. Roll. I'm going to put it on YouTube and then explode. One, two, three successes. You're halfway to, well, actually, that took ten minutes. You have three minutes left. I'm going to allow you to make a roll, even though it's a roll every ten minutes, because it's more dramatically interesting that way. And you feel like you're getting there. You're definitely around halfway there. Maybe a little bit more than halfway there. I am. Out to four and ten minutes. I've got five. Some little more than halfway there. I'm nine. You're by yourselves. And I wish you the most. Yeah, you can't risk it, because you rest. Well, you can use the willpower. Right. Holy crap. I'm dead. I'm single success. I'm dead. None. Zero. Out of nine dice? Well, does it blow up, or does it just not succeed in selling it? Oh, it blows up. Luckily, the CO2 has been, most of the CO2 has been removed from the building for the last hour due to your heroic, you know, opening. Nature's. Yes. It blows up, because he failed. Because he triggered it. Not because he failed. The timer went up. It goes out. He only had one. When he run, when there's like ten seconds left? He thought he had it. I have this. No, I have this. I have this. I got it. No, I got it. Oh, Jim, you got five seconds. I got this. Four. Three. I got it. See, this is important to me. Okay. Five sticks of TNT is ten dice. Came from behind. Well, a gallon of info is two more dice. I'll roll them separately. Good luck to you, Jim. You owe. Someone of them makes it a little bad or a little... Yeah. Well, I got a couple. Sticks. Well, there's a die. Oh, it's not a die, anyway. It's TNT. Do you want to spend any arms right now to buy any health or buy anything right now? Ooh. That's not good. Is this an example where we can use our practical experience as a group to try to give us some type of advantage? Hmm. To go back in time. Cut the red wire. Be practical on that. No, no, no. The TNT blows Jim. You take nine lethal. Ooh, that's enough to probably kill me. You guys hear our huge explosion. Hey, Doc. The actually, the ground ripples under your feet. I mean, I only got it. Do you still have the magic? Only have seven. So then, the first two become aggravated. Okay. You got any hand? Yeah. It's got to be. And then, the flyer blast. It's supposedly an accident when the punch is in a race is in memory. You should have done that before he tried it the same time. There's another as your, you basically are on fire and you're blown backwards. Probably up the stairs somewhere. No, I mean, still basement. Right under the front. Just to show how painful this is, you've been blown out the basement window. Oh, you're in trouble. And it's about that big. Right. Keep them out as they're flaming sausage. So you guys hear an incredible explosion, incredibly loud explosion and static and a brief scream on the phone. The last thing you heard is probably shit. Yeah. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. A scream of pain. Yes. But all you can think of is, man, if there was CO there, it literally would have been just an insane explosion. I'm running towards the building with the back entrance. You're running towards the alley? Yeah. Trying to get to where he is or see if he's still. I'm looking around to see if anyone is present or looking from the windows or, you know, let me know. Let's see if we're being under observation or something. Go ahead. Go ahead and make perception. Perception. Everyone was in the -- I have that man. Perception is width plus closure. Everyone was in the parking lot across from the wine bar, Greg. I think you're familiar with it. So, across 26th Avenue is a parking lot right there with a little gate house. And then the larger part of the Great Lakes campus where the actual beer vats are. So, that's where you guys are. You're in that parking lot. Running across, you know, jumping over the small fence and dashing across 26th. I mean, you've just -- I mean, you've got grit and dirt and everything. And, you know, just entering your eyes and your mouth and your mouth. And it's quite -- it's almost like you're being suffocated again. If you're moving into the area because of all the debris that was shaking loose. It's very -- you know, I haven't heard of what you're doing. You're staying back? I'm going to fashion a mask out of the article with clothing. Or the work? Wow. Yeah. He goes like this. He goes like this. Actually, you have a mask. You're still wearing a mix of masks, man. That's not going to help. No, kidding. Could you have that hoodie, though? Yes, sure. I'll use that. Okay. All right. And -- So, you hit the -- you think -- you get to the alleyway and you slow down and then you -- you know, it's like you're blinded. Think of a very small version of -- I have raw. You know, what you see sometimes when you see explosions, you see that dust billowing out from the area. So, you feel the building and then you feel the absence of building where the alleyway must be. You start working your way in there and you're kind of choking on the dirt in the, you know, the debris concrete. You know, just pulverized concrete. I don't have the mention of asbestos on that. Yes. Not to mention that. So, I said that wasn't it. And you eventually find your way to the back doors, which are open, blown open. And seemingly, like, twisted. When you go to touch them, it's like the metal is twisted a bit. And you can see that there are some fires in the kitchen and on the lower floor, as well. At least you're going to get all your willpower back. Well, so I'm going to be going and trying to -- Yeah. I'm going to say it took like maybe three turns, two turns, you know, five, six seconds, whatever, to wrap something around your nose and your mouth. And then you start dashing towards the building. Lucius? Yep, I'm dashing terms of the building and going through the open doors. All right, because of the fact that both of you don't have any coverage over your face, you're going to have to make, let's say, what would be a good rule to make to not inhale a bunch of crap that you don't want to inhale. I'm going to say Sondamina. Well, it wasn't. Resolve. No. Yeah, stamina plus that's kind of -- No, composure wouldn't be better. You know, keeping your composure and not breathing is probably a little better than resolve. Exactly. It is actually -- you know, in all seriousness, it is. Stamina plus composure. And I won't put any minuses, but, you know, basically, it's just to not suck in something that you're not supposed to, and not to lose your way. Lusier way. What are you doing, Michael? Okay. Just all of that. To put a wrap, something around his nose and his mouth and the other two, Lucius and Jay both dashed straight across the street and towards the alley where they think the alley is, but there's billowing smoke and concrete dust, like you said before, just blanketing the street at this point. That's the same point. Do we need someone to stay on the outside to kind of help you guys? Or is it a reserve? I'll coordinate from out here. Yeah. It'd be the prudent to sleep so. I actually smeared something across my eyes and I rolled four successes. Okay. That's who enhanced my perception so I can spot him in all this mess. Wow. That could be pretty cool. Yeah. But it's not magic. I don't do that. I just keep digging. Make your roll first. Compose your plus stamina, please, Lucius. Could you spot my aura in the debris? You're gonna wish that we didn't want to save those two. Yeah. Compose your plus one. You're gonna wish that we didn't spend the little time on this stuff. Just more of a, not to be distracted. You can't even collect the dust and debris is getting into your eyes. Oh, look at that. Oh, you hear that? Uh huh. I am... Successes. All right, how many? Yes. Oh, I know. We can't get any more successes than you. I can? Yeah, chicken. One more. You need more of the dice you have? Oh, yeah. One more. Oh. Oh. So what is that? Five, two, five. Wow, exceptional success. I had three with that. So you held, you grabbed a big, deep breath before you entered the fray and you're working well, you know, keeping your eyes somewhat shot and kind of shield from the debris. You both make it to the double doors in the back where, again, they're twisted, kind of off their hinges almost and you almost have to climb kind of over and through them to get to into the actual kitchen area where there's some fires. As a matter of fact, go ahead and make a dexterity plus athletics roll to get through the twisted, torn doors to get into the kitchen. Dexterity plus afternoon. You're going to get your, uh, a woman to get your thing. Yeah, if you're in there but should I call it the fire department? You don't have it. Great. But I have it. If you didn't, because it's a physical skill, if you look right around, you need physical, the word physical, you might as one die if you don't have it. Well, I do. And I have one success. All right. So you climb over three successes, you leap over into the room. Again, you see fires basically spread around. The stairway leading into the basement is collapsed and some of the ceiling fell in onto the stairway and there is some fires in the area as well. All right. I'm trying to spot, like, can we see down on the base when we see there? You actually, there's some beams and a lot of ceiling tile and some of the wall structure has kind of collapsed into, so you cannot actually see the basement. What you do see, you can see like bits and pieces through and you can see flames in the basement and, you know, here all these heavy appliances just have been basically scattered around and there's fires all around. This is where the stairway is leading into the sub-basement and-- Well, I know there's a fire extinguisher because we've used them before. Yes, you have. They're actually on this wall here, which means you're going to have to make your way across the room to get to the fire extinguisher. That's what you want to do. I think we're going to need to. I do that. All right. So you dash across the room. Lucius. You're seeing fires. The ceiling. You're seeing some timbers. That's your computer. Where's the basement? I might get you. Right now, you're going to have to probably make a strength plus a athletics roll to try to remove some of the debris because the stairway is blocked, it's collapsed, and the ceiling is also falling on top of it. That's all right. You're not dealing with something. The Jews choose made some good points and I'm running in there too. The whole building's ready to fall down. Really? Told you. Is it? Did you make an architecture roll? Two successes. All right. It was swaying. Two. Two. You start clearing debris. I got a tower position. I had back. All right. I started helping them. Careful not to. I go in and manicure. I'd follow after two to go get our stuff. When you get to the nastiness, the debris feel that's kind of flowing out and billowing out, you need to make a stamina plus composure roll just not to be distracted or hurt in any major way. One success. All right. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I'm going to take a look at the fire. I think you could set the way for 2nd Tony. You were thrown from the furnace area with the explosion and slammed against the back of a wood. It's probably a good thing because of a furnace area. A wood support. Oh, yeah. Unfortunately, you did start on fire a little bit. Yes, I did. You got some hot oil and whatnot from the furnace maybe on you. You're crippled against one of those support beams. It's kind of cracked that support beam is. You're on fire. I never had to be in a role to stay conscious though. I could have called myself out. When you hit lethal, full lethal, you're immediately unconscious and in a coma. You don't get to roll each turn to stay awake. It's only when it's bashing. Do you get to do that? Do I get to help him or do I stand or do I stand or do I stand? He is about 30 feet. He's a little further than the full move away from you. So you have to like double move to get to him or very close to it or maybe move once and spray. If you try to put him out, which that wouldn't hurt. Nothing could hurt at this point. I mean, sure, you don't really want to spray foam into his wounds but by the same token, you don't want him to burn a death and he looks about as close to death as anyone you saw in Iraq. Right. Okay. So. Again, making that character. We're going to say, you know, literally he was about, am I envisioned at him being about 35 feet away? You know, I don't want to, I mean, Jim's a string here. So in one turn, you can move and get to him. Okay. Your movement action gets you to him and you can still take a regular action. Your next turn, you're up to the third floor landing at that point. What are you doing the third turn? Are you going up to the third floor as well? Full. Eventually the fourth, right? Okay. I'm on the third floor, right? No. You're made to the third floor landing this turn. Right. The first turn was on the third floor. Yes, exactly. You're on the landing of third floor. You get up to the third floor. You hear a very ominous, like a creaking noise. That seems not a very good noise you want to hear right at this moment. We'll get back to you two in just a second. You might want to think about something. So. A parachute. You might want to think about a parachute. You might want to think about happy landings. So you get to the body, both of you basically run up to, to tell me at the same time. What are you doing? I don't know. Is it more beneficial? Is he actually on fire? Who's on fire? Who's on fire? He's on the fire. Okay, he's on the fire. All right. You spray him out. I'll try. He's on fire. I'll try. The dexterity plus athletics just to keep it within the game in a sense. Because maybe you didn't have enough to fire. You ran out. That would be sad. Point Aims, squeezes, sweep head. That's what I said on the package. I got two. Oh, it's the wrong fire. It's a big deal for chemical. You ran out. I'm out of juice. This is for oil fire. It's not for oil fire. Seriously, I wrote no success. This is electrical fire. Yeah, I wrote no successes. He's still burning. Oh, stop dropping a roll. You know from experience, Dr. Lucius, the most dangerous thing to him right now. Again, taking a quick step out, metagaming. He's taking one fire damage every single turn. But he would normally only be taking one aggravated damage every minute. The fire is what's killing him right now. His internal injuries are bad. I mean, really bad. But the fire is absolutely a nightmare right now. And we'll kill him very shortly. I'm going to go by the side street, Billy. It's fine too. You look like you're ugly. Shit. It's a pretty pretty... All right, you whip off my very expensive coat that I'm wearing. Because I would be wearing a very expensive coat. That's not flammable. It's not wool. Or anything? No, it's cotton. It's a good coat. Only natural fibers. So I'm putting him out and healing him at the same time. That's my intent. Right. He moved. That is your move. And then you have an instant action to partake in. I would think rolling to heal him would encompass putting him out. But you know, that would just be me. I would think that would be... As a doctor. Yeah, so what you're doing is that on fire. Okay, let me get to that. Okay, three hours. Let's see. Burning. And I'm falling for it. Page one. Assess the patient. Is anyone here? How are you feeling today? I'm going to turn it on. Oh, he's bleeding a lot, but he's not breathing. I'll fix the bleeding first. Jim. Yeah. Yeah. Enroll a react. Enroll a new character. Enroll a new character. Enroll a new thing. I got like two minutes to score like four minutes. Gotta drive me up to that car and throw me in it. Sir, what not? You're just cooking meat. Oh. Okay, you're going to have to make a roll. And to put him out, I'm going to say it's going to be a... I'll let you use your medicine because I am friendly. You're not healing him this turn. You're putting the fire out this turn. Okay. You're doing one or the other. All right. I mean, spraying him with a camera is my entire action. You're going to sis Greg and put me out. Yeah, you could throw it to the side and you could assist Greg medically on his roll to put out Tony. Sir, what do I have to do to put him out? Put him out. You take off your really expensive coat and you have to... I mean, he's not like, "Oh, look, his shoe is on fire. He's on fire." Exactly. So you have to just cover him up. You have to totally... Got it. Got it. I'm ready. Blank it in... You know, all the air, all the action out of that fire. You have to completely snuff it out. So, dexterity plus medicine. There's no out of here. Okay. This is emergency. So I'm going to give you your plus one die for the emergency. And the fire is so aggressive, I'm going to give you a minus three dice. Wow. Jay? Is assisting. Medical, dexterity, same thing, minus three. Same thing. Because I was risking pretty stuff. How do you get the more... You got more dice than I knew. It brings me up at risk three. So it brings me back four. Nice. You get two extra dice. Woohoo! Two extra dice. I see a couple zeros. Three zeros. Nice. That's helpful. There's one that went behind the picture. There's another one with medical love. Is that good? Not good. Not good. Another... Ooh, another... Ooh! And another success. That's an essential... Yes. And another's there. Nice. Well, you needed an exceptional. There we go. In order to not put out the fire just, but for you not to take damage this turn. Your exceptional success, and you're helping along the way. You're helping along with it caused you not to take one more aggravated damage this turn before you started healing, which would have made it completely impossible for you to save his life. I know. Now all I have to do is... Not the miracle. Another miracle. Now another miracle. Oh, and the building is clever. And I keep the hopeful comments the whole time. Stay with me. Stay with me. Stay away from the mic, Tony. Let me die. I want a new character. People have survived worse. Third degree burns. Your skin is just basically peeled off with the coat. You thought he was ugly with his evil eye. We're going to pop right out of the usual body. Third floor. All of a sudden. The entire fire escape starts swinging and smashes into the patio. Wham! It hits into it. You have a choice. You can hang on for dear life, a slightly easier role. Metagaming wise, just telling you your initial depression. I can hang on to this thing. It might collapse, but I can hang on to it. Or you could try to leap to the patio. On the third floor? On the third floor. Okay. That will be a more difficult role, but you'll be on the patio as opposed to the fire escape. You each get to make your mind up as to what you want to do. I leap as well. 'Cause you're Lee pushed it over and he was gone. You guys like hold hands like this, Castee and Sundance Kid? The fall will probably kill you. Don't worry about the swim. Okay. I'm going to... What's the leap? Add up your dice, dexterity plus athletics. I'll tell you the minus is after. I am risking, I mean not risking willpower. I'm using it willpower point. Add my dice. I will. You don't want to risk. You can risk. This is a different scene. A strong tune. A strong tune. No, considering what I'm rolling in. The minus is that it could be applied and do not know anything. How about you? I'm risking too. No. You're risking? No, he's not risking. He's spending a willpower. Then I'll spend it. He wants to... You can't be like him. You can't be like you. No. He's the old man. We don't want to get involved. Every choice I've made so far has ended horrible. You've presented horribly for me. So I'm going to go where two parks has to go. Alright, do you have your dice full? Minus one die. 'Cause the dark is. You're making a leap during the cause of the uncertainty of the movement of the fire escape. Minus two more dice. Big roll. I've got one success. Go! Two successes. Oh, three successes. Oh! Shh! So you both leap safely onto the third patio just as the fire escape hits the patio. The patio itself shakes from the impact of being struck by the fire escape. And actually both opposite. But holds. The fire escape then... Boom! Crashes and crashes into the alley. So it won't be going back this way. Next turn. So we're on the third floor. You're on the third floor patio. You guys hear a huge rumble in the crash, which is the fire escape falling to the ground. The building's still swaying? You can be able to deduce that. No, the building isn't still swaying. It was the impact from the explosion. The ground rumbled and the building swayed a bit. And then when they got there and put the weight on it and started moving up, it started to pull it. Oh, I thought the entire building was moving. No, it was really just the fire escape at the building. But the building did shake with the explosion. Yes, back to... He's trying to save his life. Yes, he is. And it will take one minute. And for every minute you take trying to heal him, until you equal the amount of lethal damage he took, he only has one left. Right, he has to do one of his amazing doubles. Except for two rollers. So two roll. I have to have seven successes to make him stop taking the eighth. Medical plus dexterity. Minus. Well, let's get the dice in your hands first. Just real quick, so everybody gets it. The example, because the paragraphs coming before make no sense. So the example, someone has beaten the crap out of a mirror. He's lost seven of his health points to lethal damage. He's not bleeding, but Landers discovers the mirror performs first aid. Dexterity, he must accumulate seven successes to stop the flow of blood. Right. And without this example, the rest of this makes absolutely zero sense. Okay, good enough. Okay, so we need seven successes. You are all removing one die for darkness. Working with fire, I can see perfectly well. You put the fire out, it's now dark again. Okay. And then minus two dice due to the environmental factors. One thing by that is there are still collapsing parts of the ceiling and much distraction that's taking place. I want to see some zeros. I got nine. I got two. All right, you want five dice? Yeah, I got four minus. Yeah, I just spent a while. Gotcha. And my dexterity is extremely high. Let me get seven total. I got two. What do you got? Three. We got five. We have one more turn. Hopefully. You take one more aggravated. That's what I say when I was the same. Yeah, your old bunch is zero. I am spending my last little point to keep the total the same. Okay. Go ahead. You lose three. Because you... Oh no. I haven't gotten there yet. You bet your will anymore. He's out of will. He's got nothing left to give. I got nothing left to give. He's having one because I'm a specialist. Two because of my equipment. He's like nine. He's three. Yeah, I took another damage, right? Okay. You want to go first? Yeah, I don't have to spend my wealth. Right. You're going. I take another damage now. You might need to get out of here. You have one left. After this roll, you will have none left. There you go. Two successes or none? One. That's a nine. And that's a eight. All right. Don't need my health. Ooh. But the doctor do his thing. How can I not roll more? That's what I say. He's living. The fact that Tony Bonadillo is even alive right now is 18. That becomes just a slash. That's how it works. BQ. The last one is now just a slash. I've got one bashing damage and six degradation damages. It takes two weeks. Two weeks to heal one aggravated. We're talking he is on death's door. He's going to be in an ICU unit. I'm rolling up a character anyway. Either way. That's what I'm going to say. There was no way that Tony Bonadillo is finishing this particular story. Well, he did get blown up. I got the juice. Maybe with your juice. Right. But right now, we're talking months of skin grafts. Think of someone who's been burned and you've seen them like horribly, horribly, horribly burned. And live? That's nothing good better than this. He was literally one point away from death. Thanks for listening to Nights of the Night at Actual Play Podcast.
