KOTN Actual Play Podcast 15: Shit Luck: Ep. 16: "Triage"
[Music] Hello and welcome to Night to the Night Actual Play Podcast. This world of dark and story line shit off was written in run by our storyteller Scott. And now, please enjoy chapter seven scene one titled triage. So this is chapter seven of the World of Darkness adventure or story shit luck and I am the storyteller Scott. I am Tom, I play the character of Jay Alton, next soldier in a Iraq area. I go on to descend one's leader of this particular group of new agents in the siren organization and we are investigating some missing agents in Cleveland. And I play Michael Clay, an academic adventurer type who is part of the Aegis Kaidouru, who specializes in artifacts and I am an engineer field tester for artifacts and equipment. A little bit more about some kind of scenes but certainly not a frontline fighter but out there in the field as it is. I am a Bob playing special agent in Chiu Park, rescue division of the FBI, doesn't really want to be part of the siren task force, you'd rather be out solving murders, looking at crime scenes and stuff but now since things are getting more involved he is more of a willing participant in recent developments. I am Jim, I play Tony F.N. Veth was a medic and an explosives demolitions person, he's got an evil hypnotic eye implanted in him in some claws that he wasn't having, he hasn't had time to use yet and he's just looking to try to keep everybody alive. I'm Greg, I play Dr. Lucius Miles, the best physician in Northeast Ohio and that's by all means we say about that because he is a member of the Chi Rhyme group, but I was his lawyer if you will to decide, apparently I've been told- Alright, what we're going to say since Mike was not here last week is when you were on the phone checking out everybody make sure they were all right, he checked in with Michael, he was at the front of the condos, the market avenue side and he was coughing and hacking and he said yeah he's fine, so you let it go with that point. Then the phone came up right and you have not heard from him since. Because if I remember correctly I went to the window and was sticking my head out the window so I would have been very visible as a main target. Right, so nothing heard from Michael Clayton since, but again, Michael Clay, excuse me, but nothing, I mean literally you're on the phone with Winston and Jade on a conference call, these guys have just been pragged in off the alley, Lucius is on his way from Lakewood and I believe Tony is trying to catch up John Beemer as best he can to get John Beemer took a nasty shot at the abdomen. I've got a bunch of rolls to get him in the okay mode. Right, just get him out of danger mode, stop the bleeding. Alright, so, what is the state of everybody, you're just breathing some pressure on my side? I'm just curving when I decided to, you're fine. You are not here or you are on my court. I got one damage, one removal. One whatever you've done? Yeah. You got grays? Mm-hmm. Okay. I'm out of my way. I'm in pretty bad shape, I'm not going to die, but um... No, that's willpower. I'm just so uncomfortable. I'm not trying to... Almost to the point of passing out. I took some shots through the arm, but nothing lethal. Wow. It's easy to say. Life threatening. Nothing. Nothing like that. It's threatening. The worst is Ryan's back to John is, so... With that shot through the heart, what might be best is if we get the police out of here as quickly as possible, we keep Ryan's character John Beamer in the same room with these two guys and me, I guess, because I'm the one that would be hardest to explain why I've got gunshots through my arm. You are the best talking if the doctor gets in time to get here, both of you will talk to the police and get them to hell out of here as quickly as possible. No idea what to talk about with gunshots. No idea. It's just kind of room and outside. It's the Ohio City. Crubby paincraft. Yeah. You can't say that you didn't hear them. Ohio City is wild. Thanks. Right here is amazing. Thank you. But you want to do, okay. I mean, you've got a better idea how we get them out of here, before without searching the old day and building and finding out. Just say you heard them, Jasminey. I don't know anymore. Okay, that's fine. You can go with them too. Okay, I'm going to talk with them too. I don't know. You have any identification as an agent of the U.S. government, other than what we have as a kind of jail. We have going to want to check out. Probably want to check out. Right Scott. It's kind of correct. You didn't get, you know, you're a member of the FBI, but you were transferred immediately upon joining it. So you do have some basic information about yourself. You do have an FBI card. Oh. And whether it shows up or not, the system is your part of the FBI is another question entirely. Like when they transferred you, did they just clean you off the books like you don't exist? Because it's kind of under the cover operation. Yeah. You know that though? He would not. That's why I'm kind of couching it now. It could be this as opposed to this is the way it is. As the last resort, I'll pull the card. And you all, if you can remember, you all have jail free card, you know, for the Department of Homeland Security, so you can play that ruse at least one time and it'll be covered. But obviously plan amongst yourselves for a second, then we'll start the actual game with you on the phone with Winston and everyone in their various. So where they're at? Get the surveillance up. And some will get the surveillance and John Beamer up in some room. They don't have to search the sole building. If we can persuade them not to do that, just that it's a carbon dioxide incident and the gunshots, they might call the fire department then or something like that. Which I'd rather deal with fire department than please protect us. You know what I'm saying? Those guys, we can all the light are off in the building, as you know, and you still have carbon monoxide because the furnace is still running in many places. Some people shut it off in their rooms during the panic just to try to give themselves fresh air. I think Tony did actually when he came back in from after the gunfire in the alley, burned off all the the heat in his room or in his condo. So he would not be bringing more carbon monoxide into the home and left doors and windows open. But for the most part, like in this kitchen area, you're having to step outside, you know, and take a breath because the whole building is just covered with carbon monoxide, including the front where the window was broken by Ethan's car, which was covered by plastic, like to just keep the weather out in these early spring evenings. Are we the only people that live in the building? Yeah. That's helpful. Yes. Yes it is. There are two condos. Right, everyone. There's a front condo on Market Street and a back condo against the alley. Three different levels. The second level, the third level, and the fourth level up. We got one conference room with everybody else's occupying the fire department. Sorry, go ahead Mike. I can't. They don't have to know about carbon monoxide, right? They don't have to know about carbon monoxide, right? They don't have to know about carbon monoxide. I mean, they don't have no way to know me. Let's actually go through the building. True. Well, I don't know how you guys funded the fact that you're all croggy and drugged and barely, you know. You could, you know, cut your arm on the window. That was strange. You know what I said? You know what I said? I didn't know for me. I just covered it and I said, yeah. Oh, that's right. You aren't putting it on. So you two are bleeding and also you should be the one talking to the police and if he shows up, he's got the abilities. Boy, you got the eye. I mean, if you talk to the head police and go, I don't know if I just want to go away. I don't know if I want to, even, I don't even want to know if I want to tell them that we saw anything because the less we know, the less the one to sit around and ask us any questions. We just have heard stuff and look out the window, nobody here, I didn't see anything. Kind of say, I don't have the power to get your name down and interrogate you anymore. How does power go out in the building yet? The furnace is gone. The power went out? I didn't say the power was out. I said that the electric. Yeah, the lights out, like no one's tried, I mean no one's turned on a light since his whole thing happened. Are there any chips of explosions? We really want to do that. That was probably not said. I don't think so. I don't think so. One from that was covered outside too. I don't think it's flammable, combustible. I like blowing. Yeah, but you don't like blowing me. Yeah. I don't like blowing myself. I'll be there. I'll be there. I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't think it's flammable, combustible. I don't like blowing myself, I'll be there. Anymore game planning before we actually hit the long run. I'll have all the equipment out of my room and put it in the conference room and we'll like that if they do need to check it out. Where's John Beemer? John Beemer is in, Tony actually isn't down-pocketing you. I'm a while. You guys are strategizing. Just over the phone. He's, Tony is trying to get him out of a life-threatening situation because he took a shot to the abdomen. Where? In the knees apartment. Condo, which is the third level, secondly, right, because you ran out of the door to bang on his door. You were like, no. You were second to first? Condo level up. Right. Second level, Ali Condo. This is the cleanest because he shut off everything and opened the windows and stuff. You probably heard some of that during the chatter over the phones, yes. So that's where we're taking the- Should we call the police? They're showing their way. It'd be kind of suspicious if we didn't call them out. Oh. Okay. I'm sure I'm not calling. Huh? I mean, if we are talking to him, come on, let's just clean one. Nobody calls him. Unless it's- Unless it's shooting at you, unless it's shooting at you. It's at the scene. We have Michael Clay, who is M.I.A. currently, but last you knew he was okay at a window coughing and hacking. We have Chew Park in the kitchen area with you, J. Alton, and you just recently moved two bodies of these fallen faux vagrants, security guard, as it were as well, into the kitchen area. Tony, you're up on the second level in your condo doing some field surgery to- You, John Beamer, who shot the abdomen at the end of last session before the assailant both fell unconscious in the bees were released from their mouth. That's where we're at. You're on the phone right now, J, with both Jade and Winston Tate, who I will get out pictures of. Because it's good to know you're- I'm going to change Michael- Well, I actually get dressed. You're currently in the kitchen. Just give me a half second while I- I wash my hands and get the powder off of me. The cordight, or the gunpowder- There we go. Okay. Jade and Winston. And in the background- Oh, look at that. So you hear the sirens in the background in the distance, and you hear Winston say to you, is everyone all right? We don't know about John yet. Tony's open, and I believe so. And you have two bodies. Not deceased. It appears they're not deceased. All right. Anything else I need to know right now? I tell them about the bee thing and that they- Okay. Which is different from the first time. The first body? Well, I was in the fact that the other one was mummified. It's appeared to have been dead for quite a while. These guys obviously we believe we've been possessed recently in just for a short duration. Okay. Here's the plan. Get Tony out to the alley to- He's the one who has the best chance of stopping anyone police-wise and investigating too far into the situation. In 10 minutes, there will be a car by the side alley. It'll have no plates on it. It will be- There will be keys in the ignition. Take the two bodies, place them into the car, in the driver's seat there will be a mask and a hoodie. Put on the mask, put on the hoodie. I don't care who does it. Drive the Lutheran Hospital. Stay out of the actual entranceway to the hospital. Stay on the street. Put on the hazards. Walk away from it. Walk back to your apartment. They will be found. They will be taken care of. That car will be there in 10 minutes. I will make sure. Oh, also, these gentlemen are unconscious? Not dead. Unconscious? Yes. All right. This is it. There will be two syringes as well in the vehicle. Inject both men. They won't remember what the hell happened. That's the order for right now. Get back to the one things are in the clear. Thanks. Anyhangs up. Where is that? Go, Tony. Go. What's I'm sure John's stable? If you noticed, sorry, real quick, you noticed the siren stopped. Just let you know. What is that mean? Stop. How close did they sound? They sound like they did. Just as close as they did on there if you were listening to the car's go. So it sounded like it faded to the distance a bit. Faded to the distance. It's not faded. Right. All right. You've got a piece cam? You're upstairs. So I cut you around the phone. Right. I'm off the phone. So I kind of take him on the phone and ask him instead of something. John. Is it the piece stable? Which I'm hoping is? I think he was. Oh, last one. Yes. So I'm going to say I got him under stable conditions. I'm running into my room to quickly change into non bloody dirty clothes. I'm sure I got a little messy. I'm dragging this from you. I need you down here. I ask you. You're handcuffed. So I'm going to change. You're changing in the dark or are you turning on a light? Huh? I was probably, seriously, I probably would just, now you're thinking about that what I just ran into my room. If I had enough love light in my room to see what I was doing, I would just grab clothes and ran back into the kitchen, change in the kitchen, and then ran off the door. That's what you do in the door. Because I wasn't in the kitchen where there was a window where I could hear and see what's going on. You guys keep him by the door so you can get some fresh air. I call. Let's see. John's having stuff. You want to get out? I call Michael and I call him. I want to. Lucius, you're coming down. I'll call you. I'll call you. You're coming down to Troy heading east. You're probably five minutes away at this point from the scene. Just got pulled over by the liquid, please. Front entrance. Front entrance. There's shit going down in the back. All right. I'm taking it. Michael, I want him down here for, I want him down here with the back door. Yeah, you keep clicking him and he's not pieced on answering. What's the one I got shot on? John Beamer. Ryan's character. He's in my room. I'm picking a picture. Because I'm going up the bar and also shot, but I could certainly wait. Can I see what that the damage he has because so that I can like compare it to the exam? I believe Ryan took his character sheet with him, but to give you an example, he had lost all of his health, gabashing, and lethal. Okay. Lethal was full all the way across? I don't think it was. I think it was. Well, you're right. I'm sorry. He fell in contact because that's what happens when he goes berserk. It wasn't because he was all the way. He had like five, I'm going to say maybe- I think he had two bashing and all the rest were released. Yeah. Maybe five lethal and two bashing. So all the bashing are gone and he has like five lethal on his character sheet from left to right. And Michael, I believe is the second floor, third floor, front. Front condo. Okay. So I go out the front door to see if the doctors here yet take a really deep breath in the head of the stairs. I'm going to say you go out the front door. Well, isn't the stairway up? This is the stairway to the condos. Yeah, that's the door that you're in here. And there's no way to get to that door besides to leave and go on the street. It's separate from the wine bar. If I take the firescape up the back though, I can add you can Tony's room and then hit the stairs and go on. Yes. I do that. Okay. I'm taking a picture of the assailants with my iPhone and sending them to Jay, just in case something happens during the transportation. Not a problem. Finishing, getting dressed. I'm picking my hat at the window, looking for the cops, expecting them to pull up in the alleyway or somewhere around the building. If I don't hear or see them, then I'm going to go down the down the way, probably pass them up. Right. You guys are kind of passing each other around the stairs. Somebody's going to have to take care of the car and then corpses and stuff because I'm going to be with the doctor and John. I can do that. Of the people who actually got shot, I think it was me and John. If the cops don't. All right. I'll do it. I mean, you're bashing them. It's going to cure. Then I may do the car run. Okay. So right now you're running down to the alleyway to look for the police. Make sure the police don't come as Winston directed on the speakerphone or it could have just been to you. It doesn't matter if it was how it was handled, but you go off to the alleyway. You stay right in that area to make sure that when the unmarked car arrives that you're there to help. Yeah. Defend the truth when he comes. To help Tony. You have to put it in a conference call mode. Yeah. I would think so. There's no reason why you wouldn't. So then you get upstairs in the Tony and take a deep breath, move past the body of John who's, you know, unconscious, but you notice that there's windows open and it's chilly in there because he's turned off his heat. You work the way to the front door, which looks a little bit worse for wear because you put your shoulder and a bullet into it. You go ahead and then open that door. He wasn't answering. And then I go towards the stairs and get upstairs to eventually to Michael's apartment and I still have my gun with me, but it's tough. Okay. I don't have it out. There's no reason that I could think of that there's still danger. Okay. And so you, so while he's doing that, you both are kind of in standby mode. Lucius is driving still and you get to the door and I'm all on the back alley just looking for the cops. It's locked. I'm keeping an eye on the unconscious guys and make sure they stay unconscious as well. I'm banging on the door. You're waking up. You're waking up? No, he's not. No answer. Hold on. They are bleeding though, aren't they? These salons? These salons are knocked unconscious due to bleeding, which is lethal damage, so they would be bleeding out, right? Yes. They are bleeding out. Okay. That you speak. So, which we do about that? I mentioned over the radio. These guys are dying. Tony's there, right? Yeah. I'm thinking. Well, he's on the ground floor. I'm on the ground floor. He's just going to the back door. He'd go through the back door to the kitchen area of the wine bar and you could start trying to save those. Well, if they come, you could let me know and I'll have that talked to you. But you can't control them like you can. I don't care. I can talk to you. It's right through. It's not a big concern, right? It's not? No. Well, they really just haven't. They're probably the ones with that. Control it. And you know who I think they are? Just take a guess. That's worse, Valkyrie. Oh. You think? Wow. Just a guess. Mmm. Mmm. These... Do they look like you? Yeah. But they... No. What? You said they look pretty darn too neat to be... The vagrants. For me vagrants. They had clean hair cut. Their hair wasn't straggly. They were amazing them. And they were all super neat. They were obviously being controlled. And they were super neat people like Henry and the CEO. This is a vagrant. Okay? They don't look like that. They don't look like this. They obviously weren't under... Okay. I said they don't talk about that. Anyway, that's something we can take a talk about. Yeah. I don't think Valkyrie has any super neat beads. It's a good Peabour's lock, you guys. Well, they got... Yeah. I'm not hurting myself. I'm going to go out and go out and shoot me. I'm not shooting at them. My unwanted attention, is there any way I can kick this open or do I have damage to myself for kind of luck? I guess you could try to pick the lock. Do you have larceny if any debris? No, I don't have any larceny. I can't. I can't do it. I've got to kill people. I've got to break into things. All right. Well, how did I damage myself last time? Is this a... Oh, you... If I hit by a shoulder in your arm into the door, does that first damage you? I know that. But I mean... And then you got shot. Well, I mean from a game point. It's going to happen every time I try to hit a door, I'm going to... It's going to... It gets the world vice against you. The door attacks me. In a sense. Only the sense that... It resists you. It resists you. It resists you're movement. That's not actually attacking. And... But then if you're at special forces, you're like, "I can't knock out of the door." I mean, come on. Oh, you know what? I decide not to even check on my... I just don't leave. Ow. I try to take that on the door. Let's try this again. We're all strength plus stamina. Three points. Three. You don't pick any damage. So you don't see anything in there? I hope I don't. It's triage, boy. And you see his body laying at the bottom of the window. Oh, crap. See, when you see it like that, it's presumed there. I don't have left them up to the window, so he's breathing fresh there. I'm looking for other windows up. Okay. Mike's got a shot note in the shoulder up there. He's unconscious right now, but I think he's okay. It's nowhere near as serious as Sean. Well, cool. I am... Take care of the police at the show. I'm going to try at least get one living witness, go on living a... God. ...vigorous. Where are you at, Chief? With the beggars. All right, so you're in the kitchen and you're in the kitchen. I'm in the kitchen looking to figure out which one of these guys I want to try to say at first. I got no more magic heel juice, unfortunately. They both look incredibly banged up. One from Gunshot wounds, the other from a nasty... Let's say. Yeah, he cut from his waist almost up through his shoulder blade, just missing his neck from guns. Lovely. So, you know, they both look pretty bad off, and it's been a couple of minutes. Two. So... Does one... Do they both look as far as my... I don't know if you want to meet with a roller, just tell me what to do. Sure. They both look... Make a medicine plus withdrawal. Yeah. I don't know if he liked about the dog or this guy's going to go in two minutes, and this guy's going to go in a minute or... Right. Go ahead and... It's fitting. Give it a roll. As a boxer, I'm opening all the windows in his apartment. Yes, minus one because of darkness. And turning off the heater. I'm calling the doctor and telling him his state. He's unconscious. He's drinking. I didn't even do that. A communifome call from Jay. I want extra. I found Michael unconscious in his room. Too extra. He's got carbon-maxing. He's letting you bloop. He's also got a shot at the shoulder. I don't know. Get him in the first chair. He was close to fresh air as I can get him right now. He's hanging out on window. Is there any sucking chest wounds? Nope. Nope. No. Okay. For sure. You'll be there in two minutes. I'll be there in two seconds. Okay. You're able to tell the guy that was slashed with the blade. Looks slightly worse off. Like he's going a little bit quicker. There's just more surface airy to bleed out on than the guy who took the... I'll try to work on him and I'll hold... I'm scared to help out the other guy's purse. He decides to do that. Got it. Yeah. So what? Again? What's my medicine? I ain't no triad. What's my sweat nut? Plus my dexterity. He's dying first. If you can put me into two... You've subtracted two for what reason? Um, a lot of carbon and oxide still in my lungs. Unless I need that batch of damage. I got it. Also, minus one because you're working in the dark. Did I take that out of a room? Did I take that out of a room? Oh no. How many health you got left? Oh, I turned the light on. How many health you got left? You did not turn the light on. Why not? Well, I do turn the light on. All right. Dude, he bought this building. Anyone stopping him? Why would I think that would be a bad idea? What's going on? I can't tell. I have a way to do it. I'm not there. Put some, um, academic skills if I could roll on that. How about can I roll? Give me a wits plus. Yeah, I'd say, well, you know what? I think it's more, can I roll? It's more crafts. It's more of a handyman type of thing than an academic type of thing. Could I roll on my weaponry explosives to know the fumes that are in your explosive map? A harder roll. You could make that roll with wits at minus three because that would be a really unusual thing to teach you. I would think. Yeah, I have a science of one. You have a crafts? I said crafts. I have crafts. I have infantry explosives. I'm going with crafts plus. I'm back going in cheese here. Wits. I have crafts, weaponry explosives in my wits. What do I do, I use all those or none of those or what? You could use wits plus whatever is higher. That would be my weaponry explosives. Close wits. Mm-hmm. And then this minus two because of the one I've been breathing in. Minus anything else? Minus. You're using military? Minus on weaponry. Minus two guys. Minus two more. Mm-hmm. I think my walking around in this building is all the electricity on. Like the clock is still working. No. Flushing. No. So the question is why it's power out if they're just trying to fill us with a... It's not though, right? It's not. The lights are just off. They're just off because they were off. Not me. Alright, he walks over two towards a light switch and you know from working in various crafts and your science and your skill that carbon monoxide is listed as a type one combustible. It's incredibly, incredibly combustible. Really? Now, whether a light bulb going off is going to set it off, that question that you, if you want him to flip the switch, but it is highly combustible. Good thing your gun fired itself. Gun fired was all out on the patio. Mm-hmm. So you were shooting inside the building and I actually made a roll. I didn't shoot. You did? You shot the door. Oh, I did? Yes, you did. Yeah. I was thinking it was a sniper. I thought the window. Right. Right. Am I there yet? Yes. You show up. You arrive. So. Don't do that. Carbon monoxide is combustible. I don't realize that. Right. We just tested your reactions. Let's make a roll with the minus one for the darkness. You pull up to the front of the wine bar. Yeah. Park on Market Avenue. There's... You see a large piece. You make a perception check, which is Witz plus Composure minus one for the darkness. Witz? Plus. Composure minus one for the darkness. Two minus one. Oh. Oh. Oh, nice. Well. Want success? Yeah. Okay. As you walk, as you park your vehicle and you start walking across the front door or around to the alley, however you were planning on going, you notice that there are a couple of long slashes on the plastic that was piped. We pulled over and the police taped it was there on the plastic covering the window. There's a couple of long vertical slashes that were made into the plastic. Hmm. One success. Maybe about five foot in length or so. Six foot in length. Somewhere in there. Can I walk through it? One success. Does that mean you could walk through it? Yes. Oh. Faster into the building. Right. And... That's a minute worth of... Did you stop the bleeding or do you have to hit half? What do you have to do to stop the bleeding? I believe I have to equal the amount of lethal damage he's taken so far to stop the bleeding, right? How many points does he got here? I have no idea. He knows he has a health of eight. And he has eight lethal all the way to best work. Yes. You got to get the eight successes. Yeah. I got one. Who's sick of two? Where's this kid? Make a perception roll please. Two guys in the corner. Next minute. Make a roll. You hear a shout from one of the kitchen. One floor up from the winery. That's where you want to go to first. That's where I go. I go back and check on Mike. Three successes. No. I'm a crazy doctor. I haven't even gotten the advice yet. You hear a vehicle idling in the nearby the alley. I look at... Look out. How many did you make your second one? Your second turn? Zero successes. Zero successes. Aggravated. You became an Aggravated. The second minute that became another Aggravated. I'm trying to justify the one skill my character has. That's all good. So you're going upstairs. You're not to the man who has the carbon monoxide. Are you going to try to save the gentleman? He said go upstairs to the second level. I'm telling you exactly what he told me to do. I'm picking up the phone saying, "I got guys dying here." Looshes. Get down here. Okay. Everybody's stable except these two guys down here. All right. In 30 seconds, you're there. You're in the back room of the large kitchen area. There's one guy laying in the ground who has been ripped open from waste to net almost with a big, huge slashing wound. And then there's another gentleman who hasn't been taken. That's the one that Tony's over trying to heal or stop the bleeding on. They might just change me. Anyhow close. The other one has been shot with several grievous bullet wounds. One near the heart, one in the abdomen, one in the groin area. Can I tell if any of them are stable right now? Both of them look to you on initial, you know, if you're medicine plus withdrawal, minus one for darkness. No parent aid or equipment. Well, emergency care is a special. Yes. One, two. Hand. Two. Two success. Oh. Re-roll the zero. Hand again. No, you can re-roll both of it. Yeah. Two successes. Two successes. They both are in incredible peril at this point. They will be dead within five minutes if you don't. Do something good. Well, I go to the one I can get to closest. The one closest to you is the one that Tony's working on. I'll go to the other one. Okay. Can you work together at the same time when you are? No. How do you know this guy was going to step down first? I'm a field medic. I know these things. You're a brief appraisal situation. Fellows you the same thing. All right. Why don't you hop on the other guy? Okay, sorry. I go over to this guy. Are you doing anything too? You hear the car idling? I'm going to go down to the car, I guess. Check out the item. All right. I don't know. Click on it. Go ahead and make a perception check. Again? It's hard to save people's time. How many days do you have? I have seven. Minus one for the darkness? Not like an arrest. Minus three. No. You don't see anyone. But it was hard. They're good at disappearing. I didn't see who was going. Right. Exactly. I'm just going to go around like where the heck? Okay. Okay. I put on the hoodie and the mask, I guess. All right. I let everyone know that I am in the car waiting. Oh, Jay. I mentioned this last. When we started this week. Because you played out the scene last week in, you know, using your virtue to the exclusion of, you know, what was be helpful for the group, which is obviously needed people to help in the battle. You followed your virtue and you made sure everyone was out of their room safely and weren't dying poison. You get all your willpower back. Oh. I remember one. I checked on you. You answered your say. Okay. I'm ready. I'm ready to help this guy. Okay. So you're going to do the first individual. You're going to try to heal the first individual with a large gashing wound. He has one heal point already from, from Tony. I got one stitch in. Right. So go ahead. What do you have? I have. I have. It's the X plus medicine because it's an emergency situation, which is eight total of seven. It's a specialty emergency care that gives me eight. I have my medical bag, which gives me 10. And I'm going to risk the willpower for three. It gives me 30. Okay. Minus one because of the dark. Working the darkness. How long would it take me to. Don't say light a match. And minus one million because you're holding your breath in the carbon dioxide room. Which kind of distracts you a little bit. Go ahead. Wouldn't you have some kind of light if it's an emergency medical kit? You know. I have the kind of. What's up. I'm fishing around. I don't care. I don't care. It's 11. Yeah. Everyone's aware of what carbon monoxide can do. Well, all right. I didn't lose my willpower. Thank you. You can reroll one. None. None. That's three. Three exercises. I can do that with my three legs. Let's see. All right. So he's at four now. He's at four. All right. And just so you know. He is now on. He's now spent six minutes of his eight minutes. So he has he's two. He has two minutes left. You have two rolls to get that eight. You go to the other gentleman who's fallen down. He has no healing whatsoever. I know that. You have three dice total. I'm not giving you a minus for holding your breath because you're a field medic. You're used to that crap. I'm good. What kind of mask is this? I think I'm like a Jackson mask. Actually, it's a Nixon mask. Oh. Roll it. Rolled out a three when a Nixon mask was in the car with no plates. And two one causes bodies back and two syringes on the seat. It's four AM. I'm using a willpower for three more. All right. Now risking willpower, you're using willpower. Go. That didn't help. That's okay. Did you get anything? I got nothing. All right. Just so you know, he is on turn five of eight. So you have three minutes to save him. Okay. So that minute goes by. You probably, you check the car out. It's idling. You just going to stay there in your mask and hoodie. You're going to go back to the, the blind bark to the kitchen where the. The, the, the two are doing the, you know, where the two vagrants are. I'm going to stand in the car. Okay. What were the first dice was? Because you bark and the second dice was what? Doesn't it come in my car? It's not poison. It's not poison. Just saying you're not used to holding your breath while you're doing this stuff. And forming surgery under water. It's different. I just want to throw another mind and set you that song. Um, you heard, you told them to come upstairs and then you heard the chatter over the line. Yeah. I'm losing somebody here. All right. From Tony. It's really quick. It's got something in the car. Just to check it out. Is it in the glove compartment or anything? No. One thing I'm sorry I forgot to say as well was that, um, Winston said, make sure you wear gloves. And you would have known that before. I forgot to say it as part of my speech earlier. He did not want you entering that car and leaving the fingerprints, obviously. So, but you opened up the glove box. Nothing. It means like the car is absolutely pristine on the inside. Not like nice. Just clean. No dust. No. Nothing. Clean. Go ahead. Two successes. He starts coughing and gagging. Wait, what are you doing the rest of this thing? So. Taking your temperature. Oh. Bend over. Go. This is successing. Two successes. That brings him to six, right? That brings him to six on his seventh of eight turns. What next turn is your last turn to save his life? You need two already dies. Tony, go. Can you, anyone insist him? I could. Which one was Doctor? Come on. Go back to the doctor. Doctor. What? That's not me. Yeah, this guy's gonna die. Oh yeah, this guy's gonna die. None? You didn't even risk a willpower or anything? He was to, he was to the last time, right? Yeah, no. He wanted to see. So a minute has passed. Oh, I want to ask you a question. I risked when I broke down the door. This is the same scene that I'm trying to do. Yes. I assume. So I didn't, I spent to do this. All right. Got it. Yeah. That's the way it should have been done. You remember vaguely opening the window, making some deep breaths, answering the phone call to everything was okay, and then a shot came. And you were pretty sick to start with. I think you had like five. Sorry, I didn't notice anything. Bashing. And you didn't see where it came from. You were just, you know, sucking in clean air, took the shot, stumbled backwards, sucked in more CO, power of noxite, and then went unconscious. Don't worry, I got you, bud. Thanks, pal. So, in the minute, are you doing anything with me? Are you doing anything up there like investigation-wise? Or are you going right back down to, once he comes back to consciousness? Are you going right back to the kitchen, or some other thing? What are you guys doing at that point? Well, I guess the question I had is, would I have a chance to have noticed, you know, maybe somebody drawing a bit. I mean, maybe that's why I only got grazes that I reacted to it. Go ahead and make a memory check. It's intelligent plus composure, I believe, is memory. So, see what you can remember from the situation, but you are minus two dice due to the aggravated situation you were in, like, you know, hardly any brass. Ah, one success. You seem to remember across the street a form moving. Right. That's all you can, oh, can you go? Okay, Jay? No. Back downstairs, yes. Okay, so you could actually, in a minute, you can get to the stairway, I mean, running. You can get to the stairway down to another level. So many of these are probably still a little groggy. I'm in the building still full. It's like a deep breath. The window will never go ahead down. Okay. And you're going to have to go through Tony's apartment again. Dr. Lucius. Yes. The last chance. Okay. You need two successes to save this man's life. That's fine in the well? No. Okay. I don't know the guy either. I don't care. Pretty close to my part. Excuse me. John's here. I mean, John's got the four, John. This might be one of the guys we're looking for. You know, but these are not the joy. So if I spend one, I get three more, right? If you get three more dice, you automatically lose that one until you can get it back through sleeping a good night, using your virtue or vice. Spending experience. All right. I'll spend one minute. How many do you spend so far? I risked one before. And I didn't. You didn't lose any when you risked it. But in this event, in this story so far, how many have you watched? I've only had risked twice. I've never used. You've never actually used this. The first willpower you're using. Everybody used. What's your willpower? Three. Normally it's three? That's what it did. I have three dice. I thought it was resolve plus composure. Is that three? Is all plus composure? Resolve plus composure. Isn't that three? Isn't that three? That's my three. Two. You've got to suck. I got another one just by buying one. So you're down in two now, obviously. Experience. It costs me ten, I think. Oh. Points. Yes. For one. Again, someone can look that up in the world darkness. In the world darkness, it'll happen. You don't. You're all about chasing the skirt, baby. Hey, I'm about four. I have five. After you chase the skirt. You've got to be fucking kidding me. How is that even possible? Eight. And a nine. That's it. Two. I mean-- Woo hoo! You've got exactly what you needed. She's the thing in the wrist. I mean, spread those strings. So you stabilize him right on the edge of death. I will. Don't eat. I'm a medic. It's kicking in. I got to do what I got to do. You've got to do. You've got to do. I got to do another willpower. Breaker one nine. I got the car running. I mean, I'm not a crook. Good luck to you. I've got one extra. One. I've got another ten here. One success. Oh. One success. I've got one. That's the first and only one on the start. I get another one before. I forgot. He has turned seven in his death march. He dies next turn. He has one point healed. He needs one more success or he's-- He has one point healed. So he-- He needs seven successes in-- You're my assistant one turn. How does the system work? You don't want to do that. You don't want to do that. And being wise, we'll met a game here for a second. If you roll a success, you heal the guy. He takes a healing point. If you roll a success on helping, he just gets an extra die. He still has to roll that dice and succeed in it. But they both can heal at the same time. They both can heal at the same time. Oh. I can say-- His story, though, you could say, you know, if a third person came up? No. That's crazy. But on either side of him, you know, I'll work on his-- The wound in his-- The wound in his head. The wound in his head. I'll work on the one in his head. They're both going to-- He's saying they both can heal. Only two people could be around the body at the same time. And I'm risking my last-- Good call, though, Bob. That would have been neat if they could have came in and gave each of them health. But I think it would be too crowded. And it's really tense right now because Lucius and Tony both realize this guy's got about 60 seconds left. I am risking my last bullet. He's flat lined, basically. Wow. I'm risking my last bullet power to help him. Okay. You guys need to combine stuff with that. That's fortuitous. [LAUGHTER] Let's not all suck each other's dick now. Come on. That's from Pulse Fiction, sorry. Had to throw the pulse again. Well, that's been the podcast without swearing. You named the damn adventure shitlock. What do you expect me to do it? Well, wait. We have 60 seconds left. I'm going to allow, since Tony was working on this particular gentleman first, Tony, you're going to make the first roll. Okay. Even though we were going with Lucius before you. So he has one heal out of eight, and you've risked your willpower. You're going with extra dice for risking the willpower? I'm risking my last willpower. Well, I guess if you're going to risk one, that's the one to risk. That's a good one. But you're risking that extra dice rather than-- Yes. Because he has so few dice. Yeah. He's got more dice than that. Not again what you do on the crown. It is. Well, I was thinking, three, exceptional. I don't know what exceptional does, though. In this case, it wouldn't be the difference. I don't think. That's correct. Look at that. You are. Oh, keep it up. See? Yeah. Yeah. Almost an exceptional success. I don't know why success. Yeah, he means. How many? Four? Yeah. Oh, excellent. Tony, put some pressure on the bleeder as the ephemeral is-- I don't know if you answered that question because just-- The exception was-- See, that was using my burden more to be-- He's not going to die. Not on my watch. Not on my watch. You have exceptional success. Your character's treatment and diagnosis is so effective. Your patient's recovery time is decreased. That's not an exceptional success. You know what? If you guys get an exceptional success on trying to heal him, well, in this particular case, another exceptional success would be fine. But what would do is, yes, Mike, exactly. If I had an extra minute, you would lengthen it out so you could try it one more time. I think it's something that this hazard is. Yeah. I mean, even when it was all success, your character makes a lot of exceptional. Your stuff doesn't make any sense. Right. It's supposed to be a system that really allows a storyteller just to go with what makes the story better. Right. Did you fix him? No. He went from one to five. He now needs three heals to survive. And it should be noted that Greg has not rolled above a two yet. Oh, he did it. I don't know what he wrote. Well, the first day, yeah. I mean, on the Ethan. Well, I love him. He rolled a double exceptional success on Ethan. Where we're still at this minus two dice because it's dark, right? Right. And because I can't breathe. Yes. So I would, you know, I'll risk a little power as well. I've been you risk will power the scene. No, no, no. I mean, I will. You spend a willpower. I know. But I've got a good place. It's very hopeful. I do. I just, I hate this. I mean, three successes. Gotta be three. Gotta be three. Oh my God. Unbelievable. One success, one zero, so you can tell again, he gets a roll. Oh, yeah. Roll another one. Roll another ten. You need another ten right now. And then another success. Otherwise, the patient. Looshes his first patient dying at him. No, it's because he's dying. Roll ten. What did you do? What did you do? Oh, you need it as one more success. And again. No! Go! [MUSIC] Another guy coming through. Thanks for listening to Nights of the Night actual play podcast.
