G'day. I'm Lola Berry, nutritionist, author, actor, TV presenter and professional oversharer. This podcast is all about celebrating failure because I believe it's a chance for us to learn, grow and face our blind spots. Each week I'll interview a different guest about their highs as well as their lows, all in a bid to inspire us to fearlessly fail. Hello and welcome to your, I was going to say Palm Springs pod, it's not a Palm Springs pod, it is a pioneer town, a Joshua tree and a Yucka Valley pod, which is all of that, all those three locations, Pioneer Town, Joshua Tree and Yucka Valley are all about 45 minutes out of Palm Springs. So last year I came to Palm Springs with my mates, Alex and Anthony, and we stayed in the harder Palm Springs at my friend Lily's house, and that was very much a Palm Springs trip. I did do a little day trip to Pioneer Town and I did quite a lot of hiking. I hiked the Lost Oasis, which is this incredible, beautiful Oasis in the middle of the desert. That was, that was in cred, but this has been a very different, it feels like very different locations. The energy of Palm Springs and the energy of Joshua Tree, I'd say, are super different. The only other time I've been to Joshua Tree was about 10 years ago with my friends, Melanie and Yasmin, and we did a photo shoot out there because Yasmin has a beautiful jewelry range, and the right word, jewelry label called Mason Tijong. So we shot that in Joshua Tree, but it was a day trip. We drove in from Los Angeles, I remember we got snacks of old foods, we drove in from Los Angeles, got the picots, saw a rattlesnake as one does, and then came home the same night. So that was a big day of driving, that was it though. That's the only other time I've experienced Joshua Tree. So this guide for you today is a guide of these three locations, Pioneer Town, Joshua Tree and Yaka Valley. I have a feeling, I'm going to keep an eye on the time, I have a feeling it'll be a long, not a long episode, but there might be a part two, just saying. Let me know when you listen to this today, also if you listen to it, I guess, listen to it with the first time when you're walking, driving, whatever. But if you listen to it a second time, here, so I'm recording this in the truck, in the car, just so I realize the light's on. So one second, I'm just going to try and shut this door a bit better. You can hear a door slam, okay? Three, two, one. Much better. I was like, I do not want to run the battery out before we have to go all the way back to Los Angeles. So basically I'm sitting here, it's the morning, we're staying in Yaka Valley at a beautiful Airbnb. I'm about to go for a little walk, we've got a few more places we want to visit today, but because technically in Australia, it's Monday and I like you to have your Monday long form pod, I said to Matt, now I'm recording it while we're away, while I'm looking out at the beautiful desert, very rocky formation, we've seen so many animals. So I think I'm going to do this pod view chronologically. I also, sorry, clean my throat there, I also, I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but I tracked like the cost of it all as well. Because I thought if you're in LA, LA is a pretty expensive place to visit. You know, you just want to like have a little couple of days out of the big smoke, out of LA, it's doable and it's a lot cheaper out here than it is in Los Angeles, especially if you want to go out for a meal or a drink or anything like that. So I think I'm going to go through it chronologically for you. And we have been away for, this will be our fourth day. So three nights, four days, it is about a three hour drive out of Los Angeles, depending on where you're based in LA, could be three and a half. Like if you're living west side of LA, it'd be three and a half. We're dropping our friends at LAX Airport tonight, that'll be three and a half. But we're, we're based, it takes about three hours. And we timed it. So LA is renowned for terrible traffic. So we made sure we left at like 10, 30, 11 a.m. in the morning. So we were kind of like not really any, in any bad pockets of traffic. So that's a good tip. That's a first tip I would give you. Where here in the height of summer, which is technically the off season because the temperatures are around 40 degrees every day. And just two weeks ago, a friend of mine, literally that friend that I stayed with last time, said that there was 50 degree days here, which is pretty unbearable for during the day. Even if you're in the pool and whatnot, even the sun reflecting off the pool, it's a lot. So I think you can come any time of the year having now come. Last year I came in May, now we're here in what is at the end of July. I think you can come in the height of the summer. You've just got to make sure wherever you stay has air con. If it doesn't have AC, it's going to be really hard to sleep at night. These are my housekeeping tips. So make sure if you're driving from LA, you do it against the traffic. Also, there is a Palm Springs airport out here. So we picked our mates up that flew in from SF Sanfram. And they flew into Palm Springs Airport. That's a great idea because the traffic getting into Palm Springs Airport is like a one out of 10 versus LAX, which is like a mazillion out of 10. And it's very anxiety inducing getting in and out of LAX. So that's your housekeeping. Let's talk the locations and get your pens and papers out because this will be like a guide of things to do. So remember last time I said I said in Palm Springs. So I've got a whole Palm Springs episode. It would have come out in May last year or it would have been my diaries at the very least. The places I went to there didn't go anywhere near them this time. Like literally we drove straight to Yucka Valley, which is where Pioneer Town. So this is like Pioneer Town is like a five minute drive from Yucka Valley. So there's this strip of road or highway and it's called 29 Palm's Highway. Basically everything runs off that as far as Pioneer Town, Yucka Valley. That's like the main drag. There's also a Yucka Valley airport. I've not been but just interesting to know. And then of course Joshua Tree. So there's 29 Palm's is kind of like for the people that live here. That's where the grocery stores are. That's where coffee shops are. If you're into vintage shopping like Boss and I are, that's where a lot of that stuff is. And it's a long highway. So you can be in the Pioneer Town end of 29 Palm's Highway, the Joshua Tree area or the Yucka Valley area. I'm saying all this right because it's kind of confusing, but actually it's not when you're here and it's all close. Like you can get to this area no matter what you're staying within like a five to ten minute drive. So first things first, day one, Pioneer Town got there in the heat of the day. Matt was like, oh my God, it's so hot. And it was, it was like, I think it was 38 degrees, middle of the day. We started by going to this famous sourdough bakery in Yucka Valley called Luna Bakery. Matt got a cheese scon that they're really famous for. They're also really famous for making focaccia sandwiches of their homemade focaccia bread. And then I got, always shared a cinnamon scroll and we just had a coffee because we were like, we'd had a long drive or that kind of thing. I think drip coffee is massive in America, especially out here. Nilly all your Airbnb's that you'll stay out or have drip coffee like a dripper later. I think it's coming out to be honest. I love it. Okay. Went to Luna Bakery and then we thought, well, let's have a little squeeze at all these incredible shops and vintage shopping and it was so fun. So it's all within like a little pocket of, let me look Luna Bakery up on my, I've got a map here. I've got two maps going on right now. But basically, yeah, Luna Bakery is number 12 on my map. You can hear me like figuring on this. Yes. And so that's in that Yucka Valley part of 29 palms. And literally across the road from Luna Bakery, you've got the Mojave trading post. Amazing. Great gift shop. If you want to take a little knick-knack home, I bought, we went back to Mojave posts, trading posts the next day, Matt got cowboy boots from there. They've got a vintage section. We both got vintage cowboy shirts. What else did I get there? I got Pioneer Town mug. I really wanted and a bandana. I love tying bandanas around my bags. Like even designer bags. I'm like, I like kind of like missing, not messing them up, but making them a bit more mine and unique and all that kind of thing. So we got loads of stuff there. But it was like the cowboy boots were $125. Marked down to 65 for the discount off that. So like $45. So it is really fun for shopping and vintage finds. I also went to this place called, I wrote it down, Horn & Hoof. And I got a really beautiful, like, bohemium think spell vibe skirt for $45 and a little piece and t-shirt, you know, with like the piping on the sleeves and the neckline. That was $30. We got a few cute little Joshua tree magnets and knickknacks to take back home. Beautiful. Loved it. 10 out of 10. Fun and not crazy expensive. What else did we get? Oh, we found this. So aliens are a big thing out here. There's a lot of people like talking about them and we went into this alien shop. And I got a little bit of like Mexican folk art. That was 10 bucks. Again, just so our little apartment is brand new back in LA. And we were just like, oh, this will give it a little bit like in Byron. Our place had like a real westerny kind of twang. And we've started to do it here too. But we picked up some cool knickknacks that make it feel a little bit special, you know? Okay. So we went, we loved vintage shopping. We did that two days in a row for dinner though. So then we got to Pioneer Town and we waited for the sun to come down. So sun sets around 738, about 730. But before that, at about four, we kind of like got cool, had some mortar. And I was like, we've got to go to Pioneer Town. So Pioneer Town was founded in 1946 by literally cowboy actors. I believe Roy Rogers is one of the people that first shot there. And basically it's set up like an 18, 80s, western town. It's got a full blown saloon that you can go to. Red Dog Saloon, we went there. It's got proper old school post office. It's the most filmed photograph post office in the entire world, because they film obviously so many things there. Then it's got, oh my goodness, there's like a jail, a courthouse, a beauty cell. But it's all like some of it's functional. Some of it's like designed for like beautiful music videos and photo shoots and all of that. So we went to a location yesterday where Post Malone did his last video clip. Anyway, I'll tell you about that when we get to it. So that was amazing. Then for dinner, we went to this place called Pappy and Harriet's. If you say you're going to Pioneer Town or Joshua Tree, the first thing that'll come out of people's mouths is you have to go to Pappy and Harriet's and see live music. And so everyone was saying that to me. I googled it before we went and said it was shut until August, because it is so hot here. And the summer is like the slow season. And I was like, oh, dang, I never got to go last time. I really wanted to go this time. Anyway, so we go to Pappy and Harriet. We check in and they're like, Pappy and Harriet's is open tonight. And they're like, there's a big music event on $40 tickets. And we're like, OK, cool. We're like, we'll suss it. So we suss it. We go, sorry, I'm looking around. I can see there's so many ravens and crows out here. We just were walking around and we walked past quite early, like five, five, 30. And we were like, hey, what's the go with tonight? And they're like, look, you can eat in here any time you want before eight. You don't need to buy tickets because the show doesn't start till nine. They're like, in fact, if you come in like in the next hour or so, they're doing all their sound checks. So you'll kind of get a little taste of it anyway. So we're like, oh, that sounds great. So we went there and it was like proper American grill. And that's kind of like Matt's. He loves all that, like, traditional, all that stuff. So we got like ribs and this thing called. Triple something. It was just a style of meat or a type of meat. Um, colesor fries. We both got whiskies, Matt got a beer. They have eight year old barrel whiskey, Pappy and Harriet's whiskey that was so. Yum. Uh, we would try to, we were like, oh, let's buy bottle and take it. I was so expensive. It was like $110 American. We were like, oh no, because we buy whiskey at Trader Joe's and it's $14. We're like, okay. But it was so, so good. So yummy. And then after we went to Pappy and Harriet's, we saw the sound, get set up, then also it's like very Americana vibes, like loads of like number plates on the walls and very like. Um, there were all these like signs like keep Joshua tree weird, like really cool. And like stickers everywhere and like horns and yeah, really, really cool vibe. And then we were like, well, let's go check out this red dog. Saloon. Cause it's like two minute walk. And we did. We checked out red dogs and we had a whiskey there. That was $5 each. So cheap. Uh, and then we just walked back to where we were staying, which was the pioneer town motel, which I'd seen last time I'd visited and I was like, oh my goodness, I always wanted to stay here. Great. Very Western styles. Pretty achievable. Like price wise. So that was two 35 for the night. Obviously they're going to add a tax to that as well. So it worked out like 250 for the night, American. So that felt for the experience and everything. And they were so lovely. They have a little canteen as part of it. So every morning you get your fresh coffee and they do bottled water for you. So nice. Loved it. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I just love the whole aesthetic of it. And I love Pioneer town. Next time I want to make sure I hike more cause there's beautiful hikes, like five minutes out of Pioneer town. We haven't hiked at all this trip other than I go for my little morning strolls around where we live. It is high summer and therefore high rattlesnake season. And that's not me being like dramatic. I've seen four rattlesnakes in the time that I've been in Los Angeles. Two of which have been last time I did that hike in Palm Springs. Those hikes I did just out of Palm Springs. And so I guess what I'm trying to say is like, don't really want to be a bit more rattlesnake. You know? But I think at different times of the year be really great to hike and I've loved hiking out here. And that's what I want to do a part two because I do know that this is so famous for hiking and so beautiful for hiking. And I did do like honestly some of the most beautiful hikes I've ever done last year. But so for today though, let's focus on Pioneer town. It's incredible if you want to get a vibe for what it looks like. It's very Western. Like I said, there's shop movies there. There's actually a film museum totally free. You go through it and it talks about it and like all the different films shot there. I obviously love it being an actor and just being like, oh my God, this is just love it. I think my dad would love it. It's just such a cool vibe and my mum would love it too actually, but my mum wrote to me last night. We usually chat on the phone but because I've been away, she's like, let's switch to email. And the subject line was howdy, howdy. She's like, the cowgirl really suits you. But mum loves that kind of like Westerny vibe as well, we're both quite similar like that. Okay. So Pioneer town, 10 out of 10, highly recommend, what's that meme going around? I'll take 40. Love it. I'll take 14 of them. I don't know if you've seen that meme, so good. Of their wife, she cooks in sweet potato like pancakes. I don't even know what's in them, give me 14 of them. So Pioneer town, I love, you've got to love Western stuff though. That's all I would say. It's so Western. It's amazing. It feels otherworldly, love, love, love, love, love. And next time I want to suss some of the hikes there, okay. Next day, we checked out in the morning. We went to red dog saloon for Brecky and had breakfast burrito there and tacos and tater tots. Oh my goodness. Amazing. I would say red dog saloons are a great place to go if you don't want to spend a bomb too. It's much cheap. Like Pappy and Harriet's cost us 150 for dinner, the drinks, everything, which is pretty good for Americana. And red dog saloon lunch was 35. And that's including all your taxes and tips, you tip 20, 20% here all over America, as far as I'm aware. So I recommend then boss and I thought, our friends didn't get into ones. We'll like, let's have a little bit more vintage shopping. So we went back to that Mahabi trading post. That's when we bought Matt's cowboy boots, which I've already worn. What else did I get? What does it say? Oh, red dog 35 was launched because I'm broke down. I'm like, I'm fascinated to see how expensive it is. And then we basically went in Palm Springs is a Trader Joe's. So the grocery stores and stuff out here, I think they're still totally fine. But just in case you don't know, like where they are or whatever, like Trader Joe's is a fail safe. So when we picked our friends up from the airport, we went to Trader Joe's. We just got like staples, Matt made dinner that night. We checked into this insane Airbnb. I've tagged it all over Instagram. I believe their insta page is somewhere underscore Joshua Tree. They have a couple of locations where in, I think it's called the Black Cactus House. It's beautiful, has an infinity pool. You're looking over Yucka Desert, like we're literally in Joshua Tree, like it's insane. So, so, so beautiful. We've watched the sunset here both nights and it's just like incredible. Loved it. So, we checked in, boss made dinner and we just kind of like enjoyed the pool, the hot time, like just really soaked up this location that first night. And then the second day, the next day, we were like, let's do some exploring. So we went down, back down to that highway, 29 Palm's Highway. And we went, did a little bit of shopping. So this is more Joshua Tree now. So that's some, this is that same highway, but it's the main drag of Joshua Tree as opposed to Yucka Valley. So we went to, don't mind me with all my little lists. It's called the Station. It's kind of like a very famous, kind of like, how do I describe it, Nick Knack kind of shot, but it's got this hue, it's an old, and it's an old servo or petrol station, like vintage, old 50s vibe. And it's got a huge statue out the front of it. We went to time echo vintage. We went to Son of the Desert, which is a beautiful like gift shop. I also across the road from that was Joshua Tree Trading Post, got some great stuff there, just like hand-woven little basket for my jewelry, got, I just got to like Joshua Tree Keering I really wanted from this hike I did last time I was here called the Oasis Desert. The Oasis Springs, I believe, or like Lost Oasis, I think it's called. Anyway, I have to review hikes for you next time we chat. What else did we go to here? Oh, we also went to this. It's not listed here though, unless it's number two. No. So we also went to, it's called Bruja Alixaba. And this beautiful lady has all these incredible medicinal mushroom things and like cannabis things too, because cannabis is legal in California. And we went in and we, Matt and I, and all of us actually love like medicinal mushrooms, like lion's mane, rishi, quarter seps, chaga. Anyway. All these incredible things. And so we were just like asking lots of questions. We got this like super calming mushroom that none of us had tried before. So it's not magic. These are all like legal, like medicinal mushrooms. Really nice. So we had them chilled by the pool and just like had a really mellow arvo. And then we went out for dinner to this place called the tiny punny. So we were tossing up between the tiny pony and the copper room. The copper room is meant to be super fancy. They're famous for their 1957 martini, which sounds incredible. And apparently you go there for sunset because it's all glass and you watch a sunset and it's beautiful and a bit more fancy bougie. And we thought, Oh, the sunset is just so stunning here. We want to soak up that sunset here. So we watch our sunset here. And we heard that the tiny pony tavern has incredible foods. We went to the tiny pony tavern and they're famous for a pickle teeny. So instead of olive brine pickle juice in a martini, I got that. Adam got that and it was really good. So I got a pickle martini, Matt got a regular gin martini. Our friend Nina got this thing called a painkiller, which is a type of like slushy cocktail. And then we just got the food was super Americana. I got a chicken sandwich was really a chicken burger. We all shed nachos, Matt got a burger, Adam got prawn tacos and Nina got like this healthy grain bowl. I was like, we're here. I'm soaking up all the Americana fun fair. And then after that, we went to we found a supermarket and because boss and I had never had s'mores before. So for Nina, introduces to the initiators into s'mores, which is like a graham cracker. You get a marshmallow, you toast over the fire and then you put it's very specific chocolate. It's like a little piece of Hershey's chocolate. And then you put another graham cracker. And then you let you hold it for a second. You let the marshmallow melt the chocolate. Oh my God, I'm salivating thinking about it. And then it's like a sandwich, like sweet treat sandwich. And we had a couple of them by the fire last night. And then we thought, let's just stargaze because the stars out here are insane, like so, so incredible. So we stargazed and we put the fire off, turned all the lights off in the house and the pool and just like watches and there was thousands upon thousands upon thousands. I've never seen more stars in my life. I think I could see the Milky Way and we were all like, is that the Milky Way like a thicker conglomerate of like loads of tiny stars. Like a minute, shooting star. So Matt needs to see a shooting star and I'm like, no, I want to see a shooting star. Within five minutes, we were all seeing shooting stars like it must just be because the stars are so dense here. There are so many stars that you just can see them. No joke. I'm talking over the space of an hour between us all because they're really quick shooting stars. Between us all, we would have seen 30 shooting stars. It was wild, so incredible. I would say one of the highlights, I would say pioneer town for me, huge highlight because I just love westerns so much. But what a highlight for me personally, I was like, this is, this is the best thing ever. This is incredible. This like, thank you, I'll take 14 of them. So yeah, shooting stars, stargazing out here, incredible, so unreal. So yeah, I would just like, I cannot highly, highly recommend. And then I've just been like, and I'm back to it after this, strolling the local streets because it's just like so beautiful and it's, it's such a different terrain to anything in Australia. It's like rocky desert and like, even when we were driving, Matt's like, Oh my God, there's just sand on the side of the highway. Like it is proper, proper desert and like obviously there's Joshua trees everywhere. Very cool, very sweet. Okay. So I'm just going to go down a list of where's good to go. Like if you're here, obviously right to me, if you're in a visit and I'll give you a list. But it is, and I'll put like, I'll try and listen to things in the show notes. And like I said, I think there needs to be a part two because I've basically just given you like what we've done essentially, but that is like the tip of the iceberg as far as length of time and spending time out here. You could do anywhere from three nights to five nights, I would say, to really kind of like relax and like I've still been doing emails and not work emails. I did not bring the yoga laptop with me at all, but just like my own like Lola emails and like auditions, stuff like that. So funny. There's a saying in LA with actors, the moment you go on holiday, you get an audition. You literally got on the highway to come here and an audition came through. Wild. Okay. So here is a list of places. I'm just giving you, if you come here, this is where you want to go. The copper room. So that's the one that's at the airport. You go there for bougie cocktails, it's got this thing called the 1957 martine that sounds insane. I'll definitely be going there next time, but you want to make sure you go there for sundown. The red dogs alone for that proper Americana saloon experience. Really cheap. It is literally in pioneer town. You can go there for breccie, lunch, dinner. It's Tex-Mex breccie served up with canyon coffee and a hair of the dog. Don't miss the treat. So breakfast burrito. We got the breccie burrito 10 out of 10. Pappy and Harriet's. This legendary roadhouse, most famously known for its barbecue, which we got and live music is now cracking eggs and pouring bloodies. Pappy's is a must visit with the addition of breakfast. You've got all day. I didn't know they did breccie. They weren't open for breccie when we were there. Frontier, we've walked past this cafe. We have not gone in. Quick coffee and surprisingly good breakfast offering lie just at the foot of pioneer town road swing by early to avoid the crowd. This place is no doubt the place to be. Lunar bakeries. This is the sourdough bakery. Now open seven days a week. This bakery in Old Town Yucka Valley is really hitting the spot. The baked goods and sandwiches are off the charts, true. But it's also a great spot for a simple black coffee on the outdoor patio, true. Now this place, I really want to go to. I said to Matt, we should go here today, Maso Menos. If you're looking for the real deal espresso drink with outdoor seating and plenty of programming, look no further. Good morning off at this cafe and you're certain to have a wonderful day, meant to have really good baked goods too. I'm hoping we get to go there today. Joshua Tree Coffee. I walked past this yesterday and I've seen this brand of coffee around. No trip to Joshua Tree is complete without a cup of the local brew. This cute shop packs a serious punch. Expect cues on the weekends. Kitchen in the desert. This place is meant to be amazing in the evening for dinner. Head out to 29 palms. So that's the, I believe that's the highway. I believe for a trinity dish and inspired dishes with emphasis on spice, flavor and atmosphere, outdoor dining, great drinks, even better food, awaited this magical oasis near the Joshua Tree National Park entrance. Country kitchen. I passed this yesterday. Anthony Bourdain originally made this place famous about its prime steak and eggs that keep us coming back. This place is what diner dreams have made up, but made of, but planned for long wait on busy weekends. So just so you know, because we have come in the slow season because it is so hot. We've never waited, never booked, nothing. Just so you know, Crossroads Cafe. I also passed this yesterday. Breakfast just feels right at Crossroads in Joshua Tree, offering exactly what you want this location is primed for a long day exploring the National Park. We like Mike's mess, the des already expanding this tiny coffee shop is a crowd favorite in Joshua Tree. High quality products through and through the perfect pre park stop spaghetti Western. This looks really, really cool as far as like driving past it. It's got that Western kind of saloon vibe brunch at the Italian spot. Yes, Merongo Valley has a bunch, has brunch on the menu spaghetti Western offers an amazing atmosphere, convenient breakfast spot for those heading out after night's weekend. Just so you know, this is a list of like, breaking lunch places. If you're wondering why it's all talking about breaking tiny pony. So this is where we went last night, a local favorite for cocktails and lead back vibes. This Yucka Valley tavern has brunch on lock swing by on the weekends for brunch, bloody Mary's and perhaps a game of pool. They've also got a photo booth, which is really fun. CNS, this diner is the sweetest, most wonderful place in the Yucka Valley. The small town atmosphere really hits it home. There's no way you can walk out unsatisfied after a meal at CNS tips in cash only. That's handy to know. Most places let you do it on an F boss machine. Snake bite roadhouse. I've passed this place too. New on the scene, the snake bite is offering brunch on weekends. This unique space is part of a diner, part of a bar and part of a skating rink. If you're into roadhouse vibe with a twist, this is it. Larry and Milt's Western Cafe. This old school diner has everything you want from a Western style breakfast joint. The cars parked outside are a confirmation of the quality experience. So they're all places like if you're driving through, or you've got like a hike you want to do in Joshua Tree, you know what I mean? When you want to snack or coffee on the way. The other place I went to yesterday that I forgot to mention to you was the Joshua Tree saloon. That's where Post Malone filmed one of his most recent video clips. It's proper saloon vibes inside. We just went in because it looks so cool and I'm obsessed with Western stuff, but it was a vibe. It was so fun, so cute and pretty busy actually, but again didn't have to wait literally for more than a minute. It was straight away and Matt and I got beers and happy days. I quickly wanted to talk about their wildlife I've seen on this trip because I love a bit of wildlife. So a coyote driving home last night, it was just running across the road. So I've seen heaps, these little like mini, I don't know if they're gophers or mini squirrel things or like Australians would say chipmunks, but I'm pretty sure they're squirrels, but it's like a little, it's like a more sandy colour than the ones you see in LA and like half the size. What else have I seen? Loads of crows or ravens. I think they're crows because I've seen a lot of crows and gift shops here, loads and they'll just like sit ominously, but I think they're good luck and super, super smart. What other animals have I seen? I'm obviously always on lookout for a ratlar. Lots of lizards, like little ones, like gecko-y ones, and then there's these funny little birds here that have these little crowns on them, like little hats. So cute, they come, they travel in little packs and they come and visit us at the where we're staying. And then obviously like, I know this isn't an animal, but the star gaze in last night off the charts, like you have to do at least a night here so you can star gaze like that is the only other place I've seen stars anything like it. And obviously like Livia and Byron, we see beautiful stars as well, but is Queenstown, when I've said that health retreat, a roha, I'm totally butchering the name, but even this was like thousands upon thousands upon thousands of stars. And then Matt was like, you know, these stars we're looking at, these existed like five million years ago or something is like, and so what we're seeing that's how long takes for light travel to earth, what we're seeing might not exist as we got a full, you know, I was going to say astrology lesson, but that's the wrong word, you know what I mean? So that has been our trip. We've still got another full day here. So I really do think I need to give you a part to when I do want to highlight the hikes a bit more because they I did last trip. But I just wanted to make sure that in this pod that you're getting at real time, you're literally getting it real time, we drive and drop our friends at the airport and then Matt's uploading this. So it'll be a afternoon release on a Monday as opposed to a morning release. So how exciting. I hope you love this. I hope it gave you some insight. My big takeaways are definitely spend anywhere between, I would say three and five nights, but at least a night so you can stargaze. I would say visit Pioneer Town, it's a must. Even if you're not into films and stuff, it's just so cool to go to a Western town. It's like such a cool little vibe. And what would the other one be? I would say like go to Pappy and Harriet's for like the live music vibe because we got to see like bands warm up and then when we were walking later, and I saw rabbits. That's the other thing I saw when we were in Pioneer Town, when we were walking later, we would see the band walking and be like, what did you think about warm up? It was cool. So Pappy and Harriet's stargazing vintage shopping, if you're into it, is a mustier and it's so much cheaper than LA and Pioneer Town. I love Pioneer Town. They're like, I haven't said to Matt, I'm like, why don't we go back to Pioneer Town today and take our mates? And he's like, I don't know. I've been to it the way you are. Lola. I was like, okay, okay. Okay. I think anyone would love Pioneer Town. That's my two cents, but please write to me and let me know if you want to part two because I feel like I'm just scratching the surface. And obviously you'll get your diary up on Friday as well. But I really wanted to do like, if anyone's, I know people write to me a lot, like I'm visiting LA and a lot of people go out to Joshua Tree. And so I just thought, oh, how good that now there's a Joshua Tree guide, essentially. Well, a Joshua Tree, Yucka Valley and Pioneer Town guide. So I hope you find this really, really helpful. Please write to me if you'd like more tips or, yeah, if you want a bit more of a guide around the hiking space or around the health space, of course, I can do all of that. Anyway, who wrote? Thank you for listening. I think you're wonderful. And I'll leave you with what I saw at Pappy and Harriet's, which is all these little bits of number plates stuck together to say, keep Joshua Tree weird. So my friends, stay weird, big love, boy. That's a wrap on another episode of Fearlessly Failing. As always, thank you to our guests. And let's continue the conversation on Instagram. I'm at Gumbo Lullaberry. This potty, my word for podcast, is available on all streaming platforms. I'd love it if you could subscribe, write, and comment. And of course, spread the love. [MUSIC] [BLANK_AUDIO]
