Welcome to Feellessly Failing Hot Seat. In this EP, I fire rapid questions at one of our Feellessly Failing guests. P.S. I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm not so good at the rapid part. I get to intrigued by the awesome answers. Now, a new EP is gonna drop every Wednesday. So enjoy this shorter style episode of Feellessly Failing Hot Seat. - Welcome to the hot seat, Travis Jeffery. This is your first hot seat. - It is, I'm freezing to death in Melbourne in the hot seat. - Okay, okay, okay. So that leads me to my first question. Do you have a favorite city? - Oh, Sydney, I love Sydney. It's beautiful. Harbour Bridge, Opera House. It's just beautiful beaches for the night. - Yeah, it's beautiful. What about growing up as a farm boy? Do you have a favorite nature spot? Nature part that you like to go to? - I always love coming home. I grew up on a cattle farm, you know, we've got bushland at the back of the property. There's amazing walks around the Arab Valley. It's, for some reason, rapid fires maybe talk faster. I feel like I have to talk faster, not just answer quick. But yeah, the Arab Valley is always, it's always beautiful to come home to. But Sequoia also in the States. I went there in the end of last year. Sequoia was just mind-blowing. - I've never been. I've never been. - Oh, you guys should head up. - Yeah, this is about four hours from yours, yeah. - Easy peasy. - It's amazing, yeah. - It's always mean of me to do this to actors sitting in the rapid fire. See, but do you have a favourite play? - Death of a salesman. - Oof, did you see it? Did you see it when it was on? - I did. Yeah, my mate Ben Artool, Ben, he's in it. - Is he happy or Biff? Who's in it? - He's happy. He's happy. He's a fantastic happy. That was the monologue I used to get to drama school Biff. So, yeah, it's always, yeah, really, yeah. - I loved it, I cried, I cried, I cried. - Oh, it's heartbreaking, it's just such a sad play. - Yeah, it is, but beautifully, like, I mean, Arthur, he's the king, right? Like, it's, yeah, I could talk about Arthur Miller all day long. We can do a whole other part on that. Okay, so play, okay, what about, is there a movie that you love? It can be a recent one, it doesn't need to be like an OG, but like, is there something that you just love to watch? - Pixar, anything Pixar? Yeah, I think, I don't know, I've just always loved Pixar, I think Inside Out, I haven't seen a single one yet. Hopefully I have seen it by the time this podcast comes out. I think Inside Out's probably one of the best films. - Yeah. - There you go, it's right. Yes, I have in the past, and that's kind of the dream to voice an animation at some point. - Oh, you were made by a friend, you were made by him. - Yeah, so I think it's just such a genius way, you know, I do a lot of work with Polish Man, which is happening again in October, so everybody get on board. - Yes. - And I'm worried if I come in on that one. But, you know, I've done a lot of work with kids in the past, you know, through daycares and things like that, you know, being my part-time job. And just the way that that Pixar, you know, conveys important messages, whether it be anxiety, depression, grief, you know, anything through a vehicle that's enjoyable for kids, but also through parents. I think it's just genius. I think it's just genius storytelling, yeah. - Ah, I love it. Oh, yeah, voice acting is a whole nother beast. We'll chat about that when you book your first Pixar. - Yes, yeah, yeah. - I look forward to that. Okay, so we've done play, we've done movie. Is there a TV show, like you brought up in their long-form interview, Killian Murphy, so Peaky Blinders would be one of these for me. Is there a show that you can just binge watch? - Peaky Blinders, huge one. Ted Lasso, I think it's just beautiful television. - The best, the best, the best, the best. I just love the way they can hit on like complex, like the way you were just talking about Pixar, like you can talk about like heavier, complex things, but there's this beautiful like comedic undertone that makes uncomfortable topics really easy for the audience to digest. - Really accessible, I think. And it's, I think it's my sense of humor and it's the way I kind of write. Obviously Dusty's a bit darker than Ted Lasso, but you know, it's deflection, it's humor. It's laughing until all of a sudden you're crying, you know, and you don't know how they got used. So I think yeah, Ted Lasso is a really fantastic show. - Yeah, oh yeah, I could watch that one. Both of those I could watch on repeat. Now, I know I asked you this question in the long form, so you can answer it the same way if you want to, or if something else pops into your mind, go for it. Just a little tip for a young actor starting out. - Yeah, I think running your own race is the most important thing, you know, focusing on not the external, but the internal, you know, your craft, things that you can control. I think it's so important, craft, you know, growing, getting better, chasing, you know, doing, learning, free show films, you know, play readings, all that kind of stuff. 'Cause I think experience is really the currency of an artist, you know, that's what you should be hungry for. That's what you should be trying to get. - And then a very serious last question, which is, do you like sweet or savory, like food at the end of the day? - Both, you get a chopped up and a popcorn, and you dip it in and you eat it. Have you ever done that? - No, but you know what I love? Maltes is in the popcorn. - Oh, genius, yeah, so I like to mix sweet and savory. - Yeah, sweet, I like this. - Yeah, you know, 'cause I don't want to miss out on the other one. No, bit of everything, friend, bit of everything. - Absolutely. - Thank you so, so much. You are absolutely wonderful to the listener. If you haven't seen Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, please go out and see it. You are wonderful in it. You're-- - Thank you. - Beautiful character. And I like, yeah, I was, it was so nice. I went to like a theater in LA, and we were sitting there watching you on the big screen. It was just like a proud like auntie moment. So I really can't wait to see what's next for you, my friend. - Thank you. And so, thank you, Lola. It's always a pleasure to chat, and thank you for having me, and I look forward to doing it again soon. - Yes, please, thank you, friend. [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [BLANK_AUDIO]
