Fearlessly Failing with Lola Berry

291. Fearlessly Failing - Sam Bloom

Broadcast on:
13 Nov 2022

Get ready to meet one of the most down to earth, honest humans out there. Sam Bloom knows pain and grief and she doesn't sugar coat it for one second. Sam's life changed in an instant on a family holiday to Thailand when she fell through a rotten balcony railing 6 meters onto the concrete below. Lucky to be alive, Sam suffered devastating injuries, including severe spinal cord damage which has paralysed from the chest down. She's open about the tough days and the sadness of what she's been through. She's also full of hope, courage and tenacity. Sam talks about how a little Magpie saved not only her life but bought her whole family out of a dark place into a brighter one. "Penguin the Magpie" was cheeky, often stealing muesli or her tea bags from her cups of tea. Penguin was the family member they never knew they needed. I hope you enjoy this chat with with the absolute legend that is Sam Bloom. p.s i was lucky enough to speak at an event Sam was the keynote speaker at and boy oh boy when she wasn't on stage she'd be cracking us up, Sam has a whickely cool sense of humour too! Feel totally honoured to have had this chat with Sam. pps. Sam's story is now a Hollywood movie and you can watch Penguin Bloom now on Netflix!
