Get scholarships and pay for college without student loans!

Are you worried about how to pay for college? Stressed because it’s so expensive? Are you having trouble finding scholarships, or all you find don’t apply to you? Overwhelmed with all things school and money?

Welcome fam! This podcast will help you find and get scholarships, avoid student loans and maybe even graduate college debt-free!

Hey! I’m Kara, a Christian entrepreneur, amateur snowboarder, and scholarship BEAST! I figured out how to not only finish college debt-free, but I even had $10k left over in the bank after graduation. (& btw, my parents weren’t able to help me financially either!)

During school, I was worried about paying for next semester. I couldn’t find scholarships that worked specifically for me, and didn’t know how to get started while juggling homework and keeping up with ALL.THE.THINGS.

But dude, I learned there was a better way! With God’s direction, I tested out of classes, and found the perfect scholarships, grants, internships, and weird budget hacks that helped me go from overwhelmed to debt-free with $10k in the bank–all with God on my side.

... and I’m here to walk you through this, too.

If you are ready to find scholarships specific to you, learn to manage your money well, and have enough money to kill it at college, this pod is for you!

So grab your cold brew and TI-89, and listen in on the most stress-free and debt-free class you’ve ever attended: this is Money and Mental Peace.

Topics included in this podcast: money management, manage money, money, broke, waste of money, college, debt-free, overwhelmed, scholarships, college scholarships, scholarships for graduate students, undergraduate, Dave Ramsey, grants, college grants, university, free money, Law school, law school scholarship, law firm, domestic violence scholarship, smart home, unigo, niche, scholarship owl, Grove City College, Pearl Lemon

Ooh, now this is a fun one. Okay, so this is scholarship, not scholarship, I've been saying the word scholarship so many times. This podcast about scholarships and all these things, money and college is really for anyone. But, you know, my business coach is like, it's best to niche into a focus market and then spread out from there. So I generally talk to Christian college girls. Y'all might enjoy that I talked to a Christian college dude today, well, a few weeks ago and found him scholarships for college. One of the most well-spoken college guys I've ever talked to and you're gonna hear about how we had a conversation, went through details about what he's doing for college and I found him over $18,700 in potential scholarships for college if he applies for and receives them. So stay tuned until the end because we'll first tweet chat and then I explain what I found him and how it worked. Awesome, let's get into it. Hey girl, welcome to money and mental peace. Do you wanna find scholarships and avoid student loans? You find yourself googling, easy scholarships and how to pay for college. You feel overwhelmed with life in general that you can't even think about paying for next semester. Hey, I'm Cara and in college I too was worried if I was good at money. I couldn't find scholarships that worked specifically for me and I didn't know how to get started while juggling homework and all the things. But that changed through prayer and God's direction. I tested out of classes, learned to budget and found those perfect scholarships and even had $10,000 left over in the bank after graduation. At BTW, my parents weren't able to help me financially either. If you're ready to find scholarships specific to you, manage your money well and just stop being broke. Then grab your cold brew and TA89 because class is now in session. Yes, welcome back. One of my favorite parts of that new intro I have is the stop being broke part. I know what that feels like. It's a beautiful opportunity to partner with God for the story of your life and see how he guides and provides. So anywhere that you're at, scholarships can help you whether you need money just to even get by to pay for college, you know, because your money right now is just based on survival. Or even if you have everything covered and paid for and you're like, you know, I just want some more money so that I can pay for gas and everything else. Legit, one of my favorite episodes that I did was with my cousin and he, let me see if I can go find it. He paid for all of his college with $55,000 in scholarship money. But he didn't quite need that much, you know? So he used it for gas and food and all the things. And let's have that be you. Let's get you to the point, no matter where you're at, if you just even need money to survive or you're like, I am good. I just want more money to be saving a nest egg, you know, to retire on all of these realms. Like, let's find you some scholarships and let's not go the way of every single person in life who's like, okay, loan is just the way to do it. I mean, it's a way to do it, but it's not the way to do it. Probably not the best way to do it. We want you to be free to do what God guides you to what you're called to, what you wanna do after graduation instead of just whatever job you can take that will best help you survive and pay back those loans, right? All right, that was kind of my soapbox, but if that inspires you or you agree with it or you understand where I'm going with this, I wanna help you out, okay? So I have something called a scholarship strategy session where you book a free call with me and we talk about your plans for college and what you're going through, what kind of money you need. If you have questions for me, and I get all your details and then if you would like to hire me, you can go ahead and hire me and then I find you scholarships for college that you can apply for. This episode is an example of what that looks like, how I talk with someone, talk through it, you can listen through our conversation and then listen to the end to see what I found for her. So you can see an example of how this works. If you're interested in doing this with me as well, schedule a free call with me, yes, free, F-R-E-E, that spells free. Free call at calendly.com/moneyandmentalpiece, it's like calendar, but with an L-Y at the end and it's also in the description below. So it's calendly.com/moneyandmentalpiece and let's get into the meat of this episode 'cause I want you to see how this goes down with a client. Let's go. Did you mind sharing how you found out about this? It's not gonna change me helping you or anything, I'm just curious. - Yeah, certainly. So my mother, who was very invested in my paying for college correctly, she was listening to your podcast where you were talking about the free coaching and she mentioned it to me as something that I should definitely jump on as quick as possible. She encouraged me to go sign up for it. - Oh, that's awesome. I'm gonna look umbrella. Okay, I'd just like to make a note on that 'cause it shows like, some people say they find it but it's her tangent by a friend and it just helps me know how to keep marketing and stuff. Really great that she's invested in helping me to pay for college the best way. - Very great, yes. - That's awesome. So what I do over here, so I don't know if you want something to get on it or not, but I have a podcast where I help students pay for college or get scholarships and pay for college without student loans is my goal. So my story was I finished college debt free. It took me a little longer 'cause I was trying to like leapfrog my way to figure out how to do it, but I wanna help others do it now. And so like the podcast is free stuff if you're interested in listening, just anything from scholarships to grants to honestly how I got easy student jobs where I just got paid to sit there and do homework. So fun stuff, but yeah, my business side if anyone wants to hire me is finding students scholarships for college, then they can go apply it too. So I can't, I don't do the actual applying 'cause I am not you and I'm not your name and I don't know all your info and your life info, but I do, I find it for people. And so that's what we're gonna work on today. And I have this whole, you probably know all this. I just go through my spiel. This option to do it for free for a few people because I want to have a chance to air some of it on the podcast and it's kind of like both like a marketing thing for me and then hopefully helping a few students. So cool, probably sound like you already knew that, but I like to go shoot the spiel. And I'll just say this. - I understand. - So what I first wanted to say is nice to meet you and could you just start telling me a little bit about your situation, what's going on with you, college plans, future goals. I do have specific questions, but usually if I asked you this general, tell me your story. I got a lot of the questions answered. - Yeah, sure. Okay. So currently, so I'm 19. I am a single male and I work at Cracker Barrel. I am a server, which is weirdly good money for what I had expected from it. So it's an awesome way to say for college. It's a bit of a stressful job, but it's an amazing way to save and so I'm very happy there. - Wow. - I am a devout Christian and I truly, truly believe that I am being called to go to a place called Grove City College, which is a very, very nice, but also decently expensive college, about two hours north of me, closest to Pittsburgh, Ohio. And so I am absolutely positive that that is where I'm meant to go. And as such, I'm trying to figure out the most cost-effective way to attend there. And my current plan, I'm in my second gap year right now out of high school. My first gap year I spent most of it living in Hawaii with my sister, who is a lawyer out there, or she's most of the way through law school. That was an amazing, amazing time and it helped me realize that I was supposed to go to college. And after I got back from that and I realized I couldn't go straight to college at the end of that year without going very steep in a debt, even on my first year, which would have been quite rough. So I decided to take my second gap year, which I'm in right now. I technically just started it, where I'm just gonna be working pretty crazily, trying to enjoy my last little bits of not being in school before I go straight into four years of study and work and lots of effort and things like that. And I plan on going for secondary education and English and literature as a four-year degree. Yeah, that's pretty much what I got. It's my situation currently. - I love that. Well, first of all, let's all go do a gap year in Hawaii. That's amazing. And good for you on doing a gap year and figuring it out. Like I didn't quite do a straight gap year after college, but it was kind of like throughout, I took a job at a national park and helped me process and figure out what I was for sure gonna do. So I am all for gap years. That's really good. And yeah, let's use this time now, right? Like you said, working, but hopefully also, we'll call applying to scholarships as like your side hustle, 'cause you might get somebody money for that. Cool, okay. So the last thing I was gonna say is that's cool with cracker barrel. So because I know that we are recording this and some of this aired on the podcast, I'm just honestly curious if you don't mind telling me, why did that surprise you? Was it just because you didn't know you'd be so amazing at it? So then people would give you really good tips. Like what is this deal? Maybe people should go be a server at cracker barrel who are listening. - I honestly think people should, but I will say it takes a very specific outgoing personality. And I'm not trying to brag, but I am a very outgoing people person. And I like fast paced and tense activities. It's very like stimulating, I guess. And it can be very stressful for people who don't like talking to people, but for people who like interacting with people, I absolutely love it, but yeah. And it is-- - That's great. - I make on average $25 an hour, which is amazing for a job I don't need a degree or anything more than a high school diploma for. So it's absolutely fabulous, yeah. And I'm not terrible at it. I would admit I'm not the best, but I just, I really like helping people and talking to people. That's what-- - What would you make your good teacher probably too? - That's the hope, yes. - Yeah, that's really great. I actually, one of my best friends, her husband worked his way through college serving, but he did start small, but then he built up to like very fancy restaurants. - And yeah. - And he was so good that he, when you have that fancy restaurants, you get more and more and bigger and bigger tips. I have no idea if you wanna do that or not, but that's definitely a potential. Like you could honestly keep growing in this. You know, if you want. - That's true, yeah. - Obviously. There's the free coaching. I'm telling you, don't keep going fancy or even more and more, but obviously you do whatever you want, but it's a very viable option. Some places people might not get a lot if they go to Denny's, maybe they do, I don't know, but that's really cool. Honestly, something I don't always hear on here. Okay. Well, let's see. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna think through this, you answered some of my questions already, which is great, school to attend. Okay. So you know what you wanna study and you know where you wanna go. And the goal is next fall, is that right? - Yes, that is correct. - All right, so start as freshmen fall 2024. - So I've just about 10 months, maybe 11. - They tend to be, you know, stay tuned. Now have you, you should be able to start doing this now if you're looking for next year. Have you filed your FAFSA yet or know anything about that? - So Grove City, the college I'm planning on attending does not accept federal funding. So I've done a lot with this. And so they, when I went and I went on a tour there and I went and I asked, they have a financial advisor that you can meet with and he'll tell you about what goes on there. And he told me that there is no need to file the FAFSA there because they don't, even if I did qualify for something, I would not be able to accept it. That's what they told me. But I did file my FAFSA for last year regardless. - Okay, well that's, no, that's really good. You sound like you're on it on top of it for that. So my additional coaching advice would be, you might consider applying for it this year still because some scholarships might look at it. Not like from your school, but like other ones, but it's not guaranteed that they will. But it's kind of that if you want to be safe, you probably would want to. So that's your choice, your preference. Sometimes other ones want you to report that. So, but if your school doesn't need it, then yeah, you don't absolutely need it. Good looking into that. So yeah, you might want to do it. We'll see with that. Okay, so have you already applied to some scholarships or found some scholarships because, or are receiving any scholarship? Basically everything. Are you receiving any other scholarships or found or applied to any other ones? Because I don't want to find duplicates for you. And if you don't know them off the top of your head, you can email them to me. - Gotcha. I have, last year specifically, I mean last year as in earlier this year, like February, I did apply for a lot, a lot of just very many nitty gritty little scholarships for like a thousand or a couple thousand dollars that were just very vague and not great. And I applied for a bunch of sweepstakes scholarships, which are probably like a zero percent chance of winning, but I still applied for 'em because it's just typing information and they'll say, you have a chance. But yeah, just, I probably applied for 30 or so of these little tiny scholarships that were like 500 word essay about dog care, 500 word essay about why teenagers should be safe drivers and not drive drunk and things of that nature. I did several of those, but none of them were notable, I don't think and they were all pretty, pretty eh. But one major one that I did do earlier this year was, I'm an Eagle Scout and so I applied for the National Eagle Scout Association's several scholarships that they have. You do one application and then you're applicable for several different scholarships. But it's all based on the decisions of this board of people who have never met and they'll look at everybody's applications and decide who deserves it the most and I did not get it. Got it. Well, great on being an Eagle Scout. Keep that in 'cause that's like applying magic. But I'm sorry, that does stink. So good job I'm fine to all these other ones. So that's true, like you're not as much a chance to get like the sweepstakes ones, but yet if they take like two minutes, I still do encourage people to apply now. So my follow up on that advice is all those that you already applied to, if you saved the essays for those, if you feel like it's good use of your time, just quick, quick, you can go reapply to them because it might just have been somebody else, like yours was great, but someone else was like this 1% more of a choice, you know? You can still go reapply. I mean, if it's not that worth it, don't necessarily write whole new essays, but if you saved them, you can go reapply to those. I would love as much of a list of those that you have because some people that I work with don't yet know what they want to study and where they're going. And so what I find is I do find those general ones like what's your favorite ice cream flavor and you know, like general ones, because I have those 'cause some people aren't as specific and that's what they need. So if you're able to send me a general list or at least what you most remember, that'll really help me, so I won't find the same ones. So that would be, I don't want to mess you up, you know? - Yeah, you're just fine. - Okay, and yeah, so then you already had told me how old you are, when's your birthday and when will you be 20? - My birthday is March 3rd, 2004, and I'll be 20 next March, six months from now. March 24th. - And then obviously I don't want your exact address, but like the gist of where you'll be living. Are you living on campus when you go? - Yes, yeah. - And then where are you located now and will you be then? 'Cause sometimes there's scholarships like you have to have been in this county in high school and then or like this county for college. - Yeah, so I'm in St. Clair'sville, Ohio, and I have been all the way through high school. And once I do go to college, I'll be in Grove City, PA on campus with their college. - Okay. - That's right. - Do either of that. So when would you be estimated to graduate? I guess that'd be spring 29 or so. It's four years. - Yes, I believe you're correct, yeah. - Okay. - That sounded so weird. - I remember 2009. Anyways, you were alive then. Probably don't remember it as much as I do. Let's see, got that one, that one. So I'm sure you'd be full-time if you're living there. - Yes, correct. - Okay, or you were be full-time. And then what was your high school GPA? - 4.2. - Nice. - It was, I am not that great at school. I just took a lot of college classes, was bented greatly, but. - That's awesome. - 4.2 regardless. - No, go for it. - Well, just like, okay, there's a time that people are just like crazy automatically intelligent, but also, I'm sure you are. But also if you're like clever to make it work too, you deserve that 4.0 or more, you know? The Bible says to be, was it clever, a serpent, or something like that. All right, I go through that one, I went through that one. Okay, so are you already accepted and enrolled at the school? Or like enrolled in the sense, okay, all right, cool. Because that way, some scholarships might pay you, some might go to the school, and that would show that if you're already accepted, it can go through the school. Writing that down. All right, tell me a little bit about any internships, jobs, volunteering you've done. Anything that you've done work, whether paid or not. - I have done work, okay, so. - You are general, yeah. - Yeah, yeah. I've spent every summer of mine for probably the past five years working at various different summer camps, multiple of most of which were volunteer positions, except for these last two years, where I was just, in those volunteer positions, I was just a camp counselor or an assistant camp counselor at various just Christian summer camps, and then these last two years, two years ago, I was working at a Boy Scout summer camp as a lifeguard and sort of a, I taught merit badges to kids, so I was a pseudo-teacher sort of with merit badges, and I was a lifeguard as well. I am lifeguard, first aid, CPR and AED certified, just so you know, in case you know that. And I did get paid for that, and this last summer, I was also paid, I was at a different Christian summer camp, and I was their summer activities director where I took care of coordinating games and activities for the camp for the whole summer. It was very enlightening, interesting summer. - That's it. - It was good, it was good. - No, I get it, I've done some arranging and planning when I worked with the National Park, it was both good and exhausting and... - Yes. - People are great, people are weird, it's... - Exactly. - I got you. - And I've done a good bit. So in Boy Scouts, you start at age 11 and you age out at 18, and so during that whole period, I've done a lot of service, although that wasn't the name of Boy Scouts, so I'm not sure I would feel great about accrediting that to just my own merit, but I have done a lot of service in that area. - Well, I'm sorry to interrupt. - You're fine. - I can note that, and then if there's stuff that comes up, like generally I get these back to you within about three business days, but if stuff comes up, I might be like, oh, have you also done this? Have you also tried this? - Yeah. - Like I might email you, I make it push it back a little longer, but just let me know. So that works, okay. I'm just going to say various skills/activity used, and I can maybe ask if I need to otherwise. - Gotcha. - Yeah, especially if you're an Eagle Scout then you did all the things good. What about other special interest skills hobbies that you haven't mentioned? - Special interest skills hobbies. All right, this is the very lame one, so you have to brace yourself. - Okay. - But I do enjoy, I can actually, let me show you real quick. I'll be right back in just one second. - All right. - It's going to be great. - I'm excited. - Probably the lamest person I know, but as you can see here. - Ooh, what is that? - I enjoy spending a good bit of my free time constructing. - That's cool. - Model terrains and houses for the purpose of playing Dungeons and Dragons with a friend group of mine. - Oh, dude, I was going to say, you're like a veritable architect. - I know, so I do. I do a lot of things of that nature. I make little terrain pieces of dioramas and stuff like that. - Okay, so I've never tried something like that, but I always have looked at those when I've gone to museums or they made one for our church, like for the next setting, like I loved those. No, that's really a great skill. - So that is, I put a concerning amount of time and effort into that. But I enjoy it a lot, I do. And it's a way to hang out with friends 'cause it's social activities, that's pretty nifty. But that is one of my more sizable hobbies and let's see what else. I do still help out in my Boy Scout troop as an adult leader, now that I'm 19, I've aged out. So I still attend meetings when I'm not working and I help out with the troop there. I guess that can be considered volunteering. It's obvious it's unpaid, but other hobbies. I'm not a sports person, sad to say. I just never got into it in high school. I do the bare minimum to graduate. I do love playing football. I play football with some friends. I was playing football the other day and I got grievously injured on my leg. I just bled a lot, it wasn't bad, but. - Hey, no, I get it like, I'm not always super competitive. I all like worked in school, but I would play with friends. Like it's just social. - Exactly. I do enjoy reading, not as much as some other people who say that same thing, but I do enjoy reading. In the middle of several religious books right now and Lord of the Rings, so. - Yeah, of course. I think that's about it as far as my hobbies and other activities and skills go. - That's really cool. Yeah, no, definitely. Especially if doing like English and literature, there's probably some interest in reading and writing of sorts. - Exactly. - So I'll definitely note that and yeah, no, that's a great variety. I've never had someone show me that. I'm very excited. (laughs) Sometimes I totally, now I don't actually, I haven't actually played Dungeons and Dragons 'cause I don't really have friends that I know who have ever introduced me to it. But while I work sometimes, I totally listen to the Bardcore medieval background music or modern songs turned into that or whatever. It's a vibe, it's a vibe. - You're not missing out on too much, don't feel it out. - All right, so we did the current, we did the past, we did the current. Can you tell me any other future career or life goals? - Future career goals. - And they don't have to be, they can be specific, huge, they can be just exactly what you told me. - Yeah. - To be that, be a teacher, but just anything else I need now. - Well, I guess here's, so being a teacher is my current goal and that's five years away, so I'm content on not looking further than that. But there is the possibility that I would go for, law school after I got my four year degree, 'cause you need a four year degree to go to law school. My sister opened my eyes to that idea. And she was telling me that I would make a good lawyer because of how much I like to talk. And I would also, I would love so much to become a youth pastor after I've got my teaching degree. Those are two things I would aspire for. Probably youth pastor much more so than lawyer, but in the event that I am looking to go for more tough school, lawyer would be something I would go for, but I'd also be very interested in getting my, I don't remember what it's called, sort of certification to be a pastor. - Yeah, sounds like you'd be great from all your experiences and such. Sure, okay, I noted a possibility for law school, youth pastor, and definitely like you said, they're definitely four year scholarships and whatnot, so go for it, stay connected, let me know how it goes. Okay, let's see. Have you ever tested out of classes or taken class tests? I know you talked about college classes without like doing enrollment, like tell me what that was. - That was college credit plus, which is a program in high school where you can take college classes instead of high school classes and get a high school credit and also a college credit instead. So I do have, I have a good, I think I have like 12, 13 college credits already from the local community college next to my high school. So that was, but I haven't clapped out of anything. Now I just took the college class, I was like, they wanted me to take. - Well, that's great, yeah, that's kind of like, I did testing out the clapped out after 'cause I had first learned about it, but might as well do it when you're in high school and you can count for both. So anyone listening, there's so many options, testing out after, testing out why you're there, middle college, dual enrollment, yeah, that's awesome. Was your, did your high school pay for you to take that? - Yeah, yeah. - That's awesome. - There was some tiny, tiny, like 20, $40 fees that my parents graciously covered, but nothing major, yeah. - Yeah, I mean awesome in the long run. Okay, you had said Christian and you sort of denomination or group that you're involved with 'cause you know, sometimes your scholarships related. - That's just very true. Technically speaking, I'm a member of a friend's church that my parents are members of and therefore I am a member of, although I do not attend that church consistently on Sundays, I instead attend an alliance church, which is a denomination you've probably never heard about. They're very, very small, but I attend an alliance church because I enjoy their pastors preaching a good bit more and I find them much more useful and helpful and things than I do the friend's church, but technically I'm a member of a friend's church and I also attend an alliance church, which is this kind of denomination. - Like Christian and missionary alliance church, what's the full name? - I believe so, I believe so, don't quote me on that. - Well, I love that you said it's probably someone I never heard of from group because I grew up in an alliance church for 20 plus years, yes. - That is amazing. - And my granddad was a pastor of one, oh no, I know exactly what you're talking about. - Yeah. - We've had the president visit our church. - Yes, it is Christian and missionary alliance, yes. - Oh, I don't know, other people know things too. - No, I'm kidding. - I know, just. - Yeah, no. Our church turned 100 a few years ago and like the pastor alliance, he went visit for it and all the things, yeah. So, no, I got you. - Alliance. - I'm just so used to people being like, a alliance, a lot. - It's like Star Wars, like you're part of the alliance. - Exactly. - That's what I go for. No, I know exactly what you're talking about, that's awesome. Okay, and then we ever adopted or in foster care? - No, I was not. - Okay, have any sort of mental, physical learning disability? - Nope, thankfully. - And then any sort of mental illness, physical illness or disease? - Bipolar disorder does run in my family, but I don't have it. - Okay. Would you be open to writing anything related to like mental health scholarship stuff? You could see stuff like that if it's in your family. It's like, I know you don't have it, but okay. - Yeah, I have two brothers who have it though. - Okay. - Yeah, that can be hard. Okay, it definitely cuts down. Okay, race, nationality, ethnicity. - Caucasian, nationality, blanking, I mean, I'm American. - Probably just American. - Be very honest, don't tell anyone, even though they're listening on the podcast, I don't always go straight, so that's why I just say them all at once. - So yeah, Caucasian, American, you have any notable ethnic background, sometimes it's applicable. Okay, all right, I went and did that. And then the last one is the question on, what are we talking to have these scholarships do you buy the deadline by? So you're, if they're in 10, 11 months, you'll be going. I mean, you don't always know when you would get the scholarships. - Yeah. - Because sometimes it's a week later. Sometimes it's four months later, unfortunately. So, I mean, I would guesstimate, we would want them do hopefully by like next spring-ish, but what were you thinking on that? Did you have a preference on when you wanted to apply for everything? - I think next spring is good, yeah. - Okay, and too early. - I don't particularly have a preference, no? - Okay. - And obviously sooner rather than later, but yeah. - Yeah, yeah, just so you can get going on them and stuff. - Yeah. - I'm gonna say sooner slash next spring. Okay, so I got all these details from you. Throughout a few things, you know, remember, it might be still to apply for the FAFSA. If you're interested, you could totally reapply for those scholarships you already did. If it's a quick thing, you know, obviously use your time as you want to best. You're definitely earning good money with work. And if you could please make a note to send the scholarships to me, or at least most that you can remember, it's probably in your email or something if they affirmed that you applied, I don't know, because I don't want to repeat them if you could do that for me. And then after I have that, I can get started on helping you out. - Sounds good, Carol. - Find you monies. Okay, cool, did you have any other questions for me? Those are all my, I should be all. - No, I think that's all. - Okay, and you can always email me and touch base on everything. I'll let you know if anything changes, I have additional questions, or, you know, sometimes it's pushed back because of us conversing or finding new ones. - Yeah. - Some stuff, some scholarships just open and then I find a new one and I'm like, wait, I need to look into this. So we'll work together, stay on top, communicate, and I'm all good if you are. - All right. - Cool, cool, I hope you have a great day. - I hope you do too. - It's great to meet you and I'm glad we had that connection. I totally know what the alliance is. (laughing) - It's good to meet you too, Carol. - Thank you. - Thank you very much. - Bye. - Have a good day, bye. - Okay, let's talk about what I found him for college. I gathered my client 10 scholarships worth potentially $18,722 for college if he applies for and receives them. That's why I had said in the title, $18,700 plus because it was plus $22, which is a weird number for scholarships. But anyways, there were some really cool ones that were found, $1,000 scholarship around domestic violence, writing about, well, that it's a bad thing and just an essay around that, as well as one from a law firm that wanted him to talk about healthy communities, also worth $1,000. This is spanned over due over this school year. So, you know, sometimes it can be due really soon. Clients can ask me do that or over a period of time. There's also the Vivant Smart Home Scholarship and that was worth $500. Now, some are small amounts, okay? But if they're less known scholarships like with this random business or law firm or just kind of like not like the big brand names like Coca-Cola or on a general scholarship database, even $500 one could be really worth your time to be applying for, so go for it. This is the one that is worth $2,222, very random and specific, but that's why it's more money than, that's why I have the plus in the title, okay? It's called the You Deservant Scholarship and basically is a sweepstakes. So, sometimes these are worth it, but a lot of people apply for these because they're easy. So, that's why you have one have a variety of different scholarships to be applying for. There's also, there's another law firm that provided a scholarship that he had to write about, let's see what this one was about. I gotta go into the link real quick. Oh, about being an outstanding citizen, demonstrate community leadership and how dedicated citizens to pursue education, to inform and better their causes. So, he had to write something about that. Also worth $1,000. Okay, this guy was basically the law firm, dude, even though he's not exactly going to law school, but he was thinking about it as you recall from listening to the episode, just found a lot that had to do with from a law firm and he wasn't required to be going into law school, but it's just, like I said, different ones are open at different times and I find for different students. It was another law firm, one worth $1,000 due in October. And then there was one specific to his college, so he's looking into Grove City College, there was a trustee scholarship program. And there are certain requirements like, these people have to take four courses from the college's humanities core and the scholarships are renewable up to four years and they can also receive additional need-based financial aid, but it cannot exceed the cost of tuition of their education, just various things. So that has had different rules behind it 'cause it's specific for his school. So that one, y'all listening probably cannot apply for unless you're going there, but that was worth $8,000. So definitely look at your school scholarships because that can be lots of money. There's one called Pearl Lemon, which is interesting that it's actually shown in euros as cash, 1,000 euros, but apparently it can be sent and converted to USD to American dollars. So that was kind of cool. Another one that was around, I was gonna say I thought it was real estate, but now from the title I am mixing it up. So I'm just gonna go to the link so I can remember. Okay, yes. I think it was connected with a real estate company group. Oh, actually it's an addiction center. Okay, well I guess they are at a place. It's like real estate. It's an addiction awareness campaign. So he had to write either answer one of these questions about are we dealing with an addiction crisis in our nation right now? How do we remedy this? Stuff like that. That was worth, or is worth $1,500. And then there was another one I had found that was actually for a book proposal, like to get money, to write a book. However, someone on my team who partners with me to research scholarships for my clients thought that it also applied to college students. And so both for scholarships, or if you're ever looking at doing a book proposal, head on over and look at the Alice E. Smith Fellowship. So basically those are all that I provided to him. And there's always the caveat, if I use that word right, that I'm human. My team is human, we might've mixed up something. So I encourage him to look over them if there's something that is not working for him, whether I missed it or just something that he didn't tell me about previously, to let me know and I would find him a replacement scholarship. Although in this situation, actually they all seemed to work for him. So that is how we go about, I go about finding scholarships for students for college. And would you like to be next?
