(upbeat music) - I walked out like, oh, maybe it's like a three, three and a half. And the more I've sat with him, I'm kind of like, I actually don't find it that memorable. I think Ty West shoots the hell out of this movie. I think into the aesthetic, it is really, really pretty. But the script is so lacking for me that I, this is not a total washroom of film. It's not even a wash, I would say, but it is, I'm gonna say, a massive disappointment. - Massive disappointment, okay. Yeah, this is an interesting title, right? Because I feel like both of us were, we were invested, we've obviously seen the two previous films. We'll remind everybody about our thoughts on those in a moment, but I think we were kind of excited for this. We were interested to see where it was going to take the character, how it was going to wrap things up and so on. And this is the longest time that we've had between entries in this trilogy. So it kind of felt like, oh, maybe we're taking our time, ensuring we get it right and so on. And I'm unfortunately in agreement with you. I don't think I'd say it's a massive disappointment because I didn't care that much about it. But I walked out of the theater and I felt just so unenthusiastic. It felt like Ty West didn't really care. Like he wasn't super excited about anything. So we just threw a bunch of shit on screen and said, "Okay, well, I guess that's that." - Yeah, I also like, I mean, 'cause I think like for good things in this movie, I think Mia Gough and Kevin Bacon are doing really good. Well, I think they're doing what they can with material that isn't there. But I think what bothers me the most is that Maxine has become a character in this film that's very reactive to the things around her. Like she isn't as take charge. And I get the ideas because, okay, like she's out of her depth. Like she's actually is being challenged by someone who is more than up to the task of challenging her, I guess. But like she was a less interesting character in this film. She was written much less interesting to me. - Yeah, there's also a lot of characters. It doesn't feel like most people get much of anything to do. You know, we were all very excited about this cast and then so few of them show up for more than a scene or two. - I, boy. - Yeah, we'll get into how little, you know, folks like Halsey get to do. - Oh, y'all, if you saw the trailer for this movie, you have seen Halsey's scene in this movie. Same with Lilly Collins, to be honest. - Yeah, yeah. So I think part of that adds to my disappointment. But, you know what, Trace, we're getting ahead of ourselves. So why don't we rewind and remind folks that we do have episodes on Patreon about both X and Pearl, but in terms of we've had some time between when we covered them, when we initially saw the films, how do you feel about those two previous films?
