The Hup Chronicles followed the adventures of Detective Cape Hup, who went from a Baltimore police detective to intergalactic investigator, from fighting trying in one of the streets to trying in the stars. And now, episode 231, rally to Titan 3. Unora, put that down. There's no need for violence. Where is he? Where is who? Hanukkah and his guard. I know he would come to you. I may regret this, but come in. Let's not make a scene here. I've worked very hard to maintain a low profile. Please, come in. This is not a social call Ziggy. Ziggy? No one has called me Ziggy in a very long time. Not since the war, I imagine. I know Hanukkah was here. It's been years since I heard that name. Why would he be seeking me out? I haven't been with him for many years. Why? Listen, don't play stupid with me. You were the top surgeon for rage. In fact, you were Zokar's personal physician. I bet some of the locals here would be very interested in that fact. No, no, that won't be necessary. Then start talking, where this will start the conversation. Please, put your weapon down. There's no need for violence. Yes. He and his guard were here earlier. Did you remove the circuit board from Zokar's brain? No, it was already done. He showed it to me. It was quite disturbing. Disturbing? That's strange coming from a surgeon. Why was it so disturbing? Because I'm the one who put it there. I did the surgery. Then why did he not come to you to remove the board? He didn't know where I lived. The doctor who removed it told him where I lived. Then why did he need to come here? He's looking for recruits. Crews? For what? Rage? Yes. He thinks that by getting an implant himself and then transferring the data from Zokar's board to himself, he can convince former members that Zokar lives. This makes no sense. If you were the one who put the board into Zokar's brain, why wouldn't he want you to do that for him? I told you he didn't know where I lived. Besides, I do not have access to the right facilities. He has already located a facility to have the implant operation. Where? If I tell you, I could be signing my death warrant. No. If you don't tell me, you'll be signing your death warrant. Where's he going? All right. All right. He has found a doctor on Titan 3. He wants to go there so he can meet with former rage soldiers at the Death River mercenary camp. That's all I know. How is he getting there? I don't know the particulars. I just know he said that he had made arrangements for a ship to take him to Titan 3. He wasn't specific. He just wanted to know about the camp. He seemed to be in a hurry, so I suspect he will leave soon if he hasn't already. You better not be lying to me, Ziggy, or you'll regret it. Just go and leave me alone. Lenora for Joffra. Go ahead. You can call off the search. I have the information we need. Have everyone rendezvous with the park. We'll be there. Okay, I've got the yearbooks for the four years Vincent attended high school here. I have the census records for the decade prior to his disappearance, and everything I could find on the state institution where he spent most of his year. Once we're done here, we can see about finding some of the people that were around him there. I'm starting with a senior year. There's only a couple of pages where he's indexed. Looking at the census, he wasn't with any family in 1990. I think the only love I'll have is to go through the records of the state run institution where he was living. Okay, so here's the senior class picture. He was there for that. I don't see any sports teams he played on. No drama club. Nothing but a photo of him in chemistry class growing some sort of crystal. It's funny though, for some reason he looks vaguely familiar. Let me see that. Oh yeah, seeing that classmate with him makes me think we should start running down some of his classmates for interviews. Well, every high school I know of has class reunions, so a good place to start would be with the class president. I'll write his name down and see if I can locate him. I doubt they could help since he disappeared right after high school. Well, Scarlet, I don't know if he would have come back to a tender reunion, but the president or whomever contacts people for reunions would know. That's true. We might get lucky. Someone might have known him well enough to know what the debt was or how he paid it. So far it looks like all the teachers would have retired by now. Well, this is something I didn't expect. Really? What did you find? Here in the year book for his junior year. Look at this picture. That's him in the school play. Not just in it. He has the lead. There are a few more references here in the index. Okay, so he's in the drama club and also on the debate team. And this is the same guy who does absolutely nothing in his senior year. Something had to have happened in between. That's probably when he rolled up some big debt. Then got someone to bail him out. Yeah, someone who sent him into hiding. I'm going to write down these classmate names and compare them to the last census. We need to find someone who knew this guy. We really need to find whoever referred him to West Point. That's usually a congressman. Well, I doubt very seriously that we'll find anything about that here. He enrolled under the name Korski. My gut tells me that there wasn't a referral. I think it was all fabricated by rage. Well, I'm inclined to agree with you. I think someone on the dark web altar and computer records and got him in. If we can find the name of whoever recommended him, maybe we can talk to them and see if they've even heard of Korski. In the meantime, I'm going to concentrate on finding a classmate that was friends with him. Yeah, it isn't being a detective, an exciting job. I really don't see a lot of activity in the camp. Why not either? What do you think he's up to in there? Probably the same thing he was doing last time, trying to convince individuals to join him and his great quest to rebuild rage. Yeah, we've heard that before. I really don't think he'll get any takers. He didn't the last time, so I don't know what would have changed. But these guys are retired. They have all they need right here. They must not need much. That's what I thought. But after being there a while, I noticed they have absolute freedom. No one to bother them, no taxes to pay. They barter for whatever goods they need. I guess if you don't mind isolation, it's a good life. I'm sure they can go into town on occasion to blow off a little steam. Reminds me of the outback. Yeah, like Kalgulli on a Saturday night after payback. Believe me, if these guys want to blow off steam, one night a river monster attacks would take care of that. Speaking of which, it's getting kind of late. How long should we stay? I need to make sure he doesn't leave through the front gate. Honestly, if it were me, I wouldn't wait too long. He wouldn't want to get caught out on the road after die. According to the timetable, Georgia gave me the dark period will start in about 30. If they don't leave now, they're not leaving. Well, they've closed all the gates and it looks like guards are being posted all around the top of the wall. Okay, that's good enough for me. Let's head back. We can be back here at first light or a little later. Yeah, no need to rush. I hear you. Let's move out. Have you thought much on how we're going to take on seven of them? Yeah, that's just two apiece. What's the bonus for someone? I guarantee you, the bonus one will be Lester. He'll be hiding behind the skirt of his new assistant. Well, you've got that right. Oh, crikey. I just got dried off and now it's back into the river. I hate walking where I can't bloody see. Don't forget the hold to your right. Well, we survived another river crossing. It wasn't so bad, so I wouldn't want to make a habit of it. Run for it. Freeze. Don't move a muscle. If that thing stays this way, dinner. I don't think I can stand to watch it eat Marco here. Me? Me? Why me? Because I can bloody well outrun you. That's why. Nobody is running. Stay low and very still. These are just like the reptiles back on earth. Movement triggers their feeding instinct. And how would you know that little bit of information? Back home I used to date a herpetologist. I'd go out into the field with him. You can stand in a pit of snakes and be safe. As long as you don't move. No. You can stand in a pit of snakes. I'm gone. It's their natural instinct to attack anything that moves like a lot of animals running triggers aggression. That's amazing. That's not amazing. No, it's amazing that you actually dated someone. Should we shoot him? Only as an absolute last resort. We really don't have the fire power to bring him down. And if we shoot him, it will alert the other creatures. And also let the guys at camp know someone's out here. If we stay out here too long, it'll be dark. We might as well make a run for it. We have time. We've probably heard us splashing through the water. Home with Marco. I don't think we should hang around. Maybe we can sneak out. And maybe you'll be at dinner tonight. Stay put. We have time before it's dark. Well, I don't like this. I don't bloody like this at all. Something's happening back at camp. He's leaving. I think his buddies are attacking at camp. It's all like Donkey Kong. Alright fellas, move out. Agent Simon. Agent Slane. Welcome back. Thank you. Any word on Nate and Liam? They're on their way and we'll be here shortly. So does Renora knows where Hanukkah is? She just radioed and told me to call off the search and meet her here. Well, that sure sounds like she found something important. What were her exact words? She said you can call off the search. I have the information we need. I say that pretty much sums up. Is that Nate and Liam? Yes, I believe it is. If we have to leave Titan 3, what are you going to do about Governor Drakmar? If it turns out that Hanukkah has fled to Titan 3, we will be able to Drakmar's jurisdiction. So I don't plan on doing anything. But then you claim to have some sort of control over Titan 3? You can claim only what the fact is that Titan 3 is a self-governing planet overseen by IDF. Sort of like a colony then. I suppose so. So, what's the big news? We don't know yet. Lenora just asked us to gather here at the park. And you trust her? Why shouldn't we? I don't know. Maybe because she was part of the rage chain of command and now has an opportunity to rejoin them as soon as they rebuild the rage empire. That's an interesting thought there, Liam. Maybe you could ask her yourself. I see her coming now. It's just a thought. She could easily lead us in a wild goose chest while rage regroups. I don't sense that from her at all. We'll see what she has to say. Lenora, we're all here. Present and accounted for. So what news do you have for us? I met with Dr. Zigman. He was a surgeon for rage. He confessed to me that Hanukkah was there along with his personal guard. He claims Hanukkah has found a surgeon at the mercenary camp on Titan 3. The mercenary camp. That's the last place anyone would go for an operation. There are no facilities there, not even a decent haircut. But that's where the surgeon is. He supposedly arranged a transport ship to take him to Titan 3. Another one headed for Titan 3. That place is getting crowded. Do you have any kind of time frame on when he's planning to go? My impression was it'll be as soon as possible. Then Liam and I better get back to the ship and ready it for flight. Not only to file for clearance and try to find out if anyone else files for Titan 3. There is nothing left for us to do here. We'll all return. We have enough vehicles to transport everyone. I'm not real familiar with Titan 3. Will he be able to fly straight to the camp? It depends on what kind of ship he has. I'm just thinking. Aren't Gaby Marko and John about there now? The latest communication I have from them is that they have the camp staped out. That's where Lister is. So Hanukkah and his guard will be there. Lister and his new assistant will be there. Plus all of us. I think it's going to be a little crowded. Man, how do you guys do this every morning? Before the roosters even wake up. Hey, it's a great way to get the day going. Just simulate those muscles, get the blood flowing. I thought that's what coffee was for. And eggs and bacon. Alright, alright. Breakfast is coming soon. Remember, even hongings get fat. I was wondering about that. As much as your people eat, how do you manage to look normal? And are there really any fat hongings? To answer your first question, we have two stomachs and a high metabolism. So we could burn up the calories pretty fast. And to answer your second question, yes, there are fat hongings. It's a sign of extreme will. Kind of like it was here in the past. Only the wealthy could afford to eat enough to get fat. So is that about it? After the two mile run. The two mile what? Run. That's standard PT distance. Here, my PT. Physically tagged. I'm not sure I'd survive two miles. The heat is pretty bad today, so I'll tell you what. We'll walk a bit to ease you into it. That sounds good to me. I can walk. I do it a lot. That's good, Sam. Where do you walk? There's a refrigerator in back. And believe me, as many times as I do it, I can cover a lot of ground. Then just imagine if there's a refrigerator at the end of our walk. What? You trying to get me to pick up the pace, Bishop? Not gonna happen. I can't say that I believe you, Sam. I'm not much for running myself. I imagine it was a different story when you were at the academy. How do you know I went to West Point? Well, you haven't exactly been a ring knocker, but I can't help notice that you have one. I keep forgetting that I have it. Yeah, 2001 grad. Wow, 2001. Well, that was a patriotic time here. I remember talking to a recruiter friend of mine. He said after 9/11 he had to buy a case of oil for his recruiting office door. I imagine recruiters had no problem getting people and boots back then. If you don't mind me asking, what made you go engineer corps? Well, you know, Sam. For every combat on Soldier, there are 16 support and combat support people there to make sure that they have what they need to fight. That's right. Many conquered army was halted when they outpaced their supply chain. No fuel, no ammo, no food, no fighting. It's as simple as that. My job was to build bridges, set up landing zones, all sorts of things. I'm going to use the old name since I can't remember the new ones, but I saw a study where places like Fort Eustis, Fort Hood, Benning, Bragg, all would have a difficult time completely mobilizing because of the logistics involved. Like Fort Eustis only has one way in and only one way out by rail or road. Leave me, Sam. We're well aware of that. That's why there are so many pre-position assets all over the world. Since his mission failed and he's imprisoned, I can tell you that Hank's mission was to cripple the civilian side of supply. He was trying to take out the internet and general communications. I know the armed forces can operate independently of that, but taking out the military's ability to communicate would really put a damper on what the US or any nation could do. That fact hasn't escaped us, believe me. Now you're not trying to find out what our mission is, are you, Sam? Not in the least interested. I'm awaiting my next assignment. I'm speculating what rage might have in store for me. I'm just thinking that attacking the military communications structure might be challenging and fun. I take it that you're not going to be here much longer. You should be wrapping up your inspection soon. Yeah, another couple of days at most. Then it's back to DC for me. Well, keep in touch. We might want to pick your brain before you go. ♪♪ Yo, attention please. I want to thank everyone for joining in last night. Defense of the camp was outstanding. Clean up detail. You are cleared to depart and burn the remains of the river monsters slain last night. Those of you on the food foraging team are cleared to leave the camp. All other personnel may resume normal duties. That is all. ♪♪ Major, that was quite an impressive display last night. Your men fight well together. It's not that difficult to do when your life depends upon it, Master Lister. Have you had any food yet? My assistant is preparing a plate for me. Thank you. Have my man been cooperating with you? I don't know if you can call it cooperating, but they have been receptive to me. And have you had any takers? Not a one. It is very discouraging. What has happened to all of you? You've become farmers, takers and tailors, but there are no soldiers. Look what has happened to the leadership. All of you were arrested, right over there in fact. They've been given the choice of possibly dying in combat or living here, living as masters of their own destiny. And as poor as dirt. When we mobilize, great riches will be ours. The IDF has overreached its ability to govern. They have spread too thin to control us. These men have all seen battle. They have grown weary and frightened. You should stay here with us and enjoy the freedom we have here. Freedom? Freedom, you say? You are prisoners in a prison you've built yourselves. And these monsters are your gatekeepers. And your prison is everywhere. You're a wanted man, Lord Lister. You do not have the freedom to come and go as you please. The IDF is your gatekeeper. You are welcome to stay here as long as you like. But I must remind you that you would be no better than the man or woman stood next to you. I am not ready to put on a skirt and plant vegetables done. I am a leader of brave men and women who fight to suppress the unwelcome authority of the IDF. The galaxy is ours for the taken. Master, I have food prepared for you. I have lost my appetite. Greetings, Ursula. I hope you were able to get some sleep, dear, in all of the shooting. On the contrary, Major Dunne, the shooting was like a lullaby to me. You can sleep through all of the firing and howling of the river monsters? Well, I must admit. I wanted to join your men in the towers and shoot some of the beasts myself. But I was tired from my journey. Besides, I got to kill one earlier. This is what I don't understand. Your people fight with such great courage. Your skills are being wasted here, hiding in this camp. Hide him. I don't see anyone hiding. Those who are actually hiding live in Tyranus. We live here in the open. Only because no one dares travel through the infested waters of Death River. I'm going to make one last attempt to talk some sense into these people. Ursula, follow me. Good luck, Master Lister. You're going to need it. Hey, good morning, Slugger. How'd you sleep? Like a log. So you woke up at the fireplace? What? I don't worry. It's an old country song. But I'm glad you got some rest. That was weird. You might be up all night. And why would you think I'd be up all night? Because I know you. Yesterday, you get full clearance to return to duty. And you're right back here with me doing office work. When you know there are big doings in space. Yeah. Well, it was on my mind. But a glass of Chardonnay helped ease it. So what's on the dock at this morning? Kelly and Scarlett sent us a list of classmates they wanted us to investigate while they investigate the rest. Okay. It would be nice to find someone who knew him well in school. We might be able to find what drove him away and over to the dark side. Ooh, I love it when you make a movie reference. Here, you take these names, see what you can find. This should be fun for about 15 minutes. I sent you a PDF of their senior yearbook. Got it. Well, you can certainly tell these pictures are from the 90s. Check out these hairstyles in makeup. You want a good laugh? Check out mine. No way. Forget I said that. I hate to tell you. But I did that when you became my partner. I guess that's fair. I checked out yours too. I don't believe it. Hey, you check mine? No. I don't believe it. It's him. Ooh. Leonard. I'm sure of it. This is Leonard. Louis Helper from Queens. And this actually be Leonard from Queens. Scarlett's counterpart in the Houston case.
