That's right, it's the Saturday Story Circle, here on the Mutual Audio Network. - The following audio drama is rated G for general audience. (upbeat music) (soft music) - You have to admire the brush look. Even to the untwined eye, you can feel the artist's pain with the average stroke of paint. - I know what you mean. The crying clown is a personal favorite of mine. - Yes, it is underrated and underappreciated. Just look how little security there is here. - No senses, no invisible beings. - No guards, no cameras. It's just asking to be taken. How cruel is something so beautiful, so unloved by the gallery? - Are you thinking of what I'm thinking, Jess? - I believe I am, Phoebe. (upbeat music) - That's the last time I listened to you. - I'm sorry. It's not my fault they got runin' camouflage. They look just like it but blunt to me. - Computer, set cross for anywhere, full speed. - Thank you for upgrading your software to Conservatory 2543. You may need to restart your system to access the full range of benefits available. Do you wish to restart your system now? - Not right now, little busy. - Can we go now? - This painting is heavy. - I'm trying to. Who decided we should download the software upgrade before we did the heist? - Okay, that's two mistakes. - Computer, take off now. - Now the system will not be fully accessible until you restart. - I understand. - They've seen us. - Computer, I would really like it if you could start the engine and get us out of here. - Would you like to take the Conservatory 2543 tour? - Take off, take off, take off. - Computer, please take off, we're in a hurry. Engine's on, take me to the Glitterball system. - Affirmative, once again, we thank you for upgrading to Conservatory 2543. - I'm so excited to make it. - Peter? (engine revving) (soft music) - These are the adventures of the Starship Jackalote. Our continuing mission to explore new garden patches on different worlds to seek out larger and juicier carrots. (engine revving) - The boldly go where no rabbit has gone before. (engine revving) Featuring the voice talents of Alex Gilmore as Captain Peter Rabbit, Bobby Owens as Lieutenant Tanya Ears, David McIber as Lieutenant Taddy McZacker, Michael Liebman as Dr. Harvey Hopper Smith, and introducing Tom Chalker as Commander Dumper. (dramatic music) Today's episode, looking for something. (soft music) - Commander's personal log. It has been almost three months since the last known sighting of Peter Rabbit, our former captain. Despite Dr. Bunny Hopper's return to Hair Command and her story of her capture, the threat of a mimic infiltration at the heart of Hair Command is dismissed as the deranged rantings of a rogue officer. I have known Peter for some time and I firmly believe his actions cannot be those of a madman and I am certain that he is not acting under sealed orders. Captain Primrose maintains that Peter is our enemy and, in doing so, she is creating an atmosphere of mistrust, unease and uncertainty. (dramatic music) Enter. - Evening, Commander. Do you mind if we talk privately? - Of course not, Lieutenant. - It's just that, what are you doing? - A form of meditation known as Chiki. - Chiki. I don't think I've heard of it. - It is an ancient method of reducing stress throughout the body by sitting on the floor and shuffling from side to side. - Does it work? - I believe so. Do you wish to try? - Yeah, maybe that would help me. - I need to, you know, be down to the fur like you. - It isn't necessary. It just enhances the meditation. - Okay. Like this. - Yes, do you feel more relaxed? - Strangely enough, yes. - Come in. - Commander, am I interrupting something? - Meditating. - It's quite relaxing, actually. I see. Being a doctor, I'm not a fan of these alternative therapies. - Me neither, but this is really working. You should give it a try. - I'm not sure about this. - Enter. - Commander, I just want to talk to you about the duty also for... - Is there something wrong, Captain? - I'll come back later. - Well, it's her problem. - You'd think she'd never seen three rabbits in her underwear doing check-y before. - Well, well, well, Peter Rabbit. - Hello, Jessica. You're looking well. Sony paintings lately. - What are you doing here? - It's not exactly the kind of place a hair command starship, Captain Wudorn, surely. - I'm not in hair command anymore. - Really? What happened? - Minics. Minics. - Peter, mimics don't exist. They were wiped out decades ago after a game of patience went wrong. - Is that what people are saying in your world? - In my world, Peter, you're the one talking about mimics. - I'm not crazy. - And how many have been found? - None reported. - Exactly. - But I've seen them with my own eyes. They've infiltrated hair command. - So why haven't they been found out? If they're in hair command and everyone is being tested, how can they not have been exposed? - Because they're in control already. Jessica, you're a genius. - Well, that was unexpected. - What's keeping you? - Fifi, this is Peter Rabbit. He helped us out of the gallery. - Oh, chummed to make your acquaintance, I'm sure. - Fifi is my apprentice. On the job training, I'd say. - Life getting too lonely for you outside world and regulations, Jessica. - If you'll excuse me, Peter, I have business to attend to. - Jessica, wait. - What do you want now? - You have to help me. - I need to know who is hiding the mimics. Hair command is in trouble. Overbite isn't safe. Friends and family could be in jeopardy. Does that mean nothing? - Let's go, Jess. - There is one person. He hears all, knows all, sees nothing. The dogfather. (tense music) - Right, Tim, here are the latest orders from Admiral Jim Bob at Hair Command. One, find Peter Rabbit. Two, look for Peter Rabbit. Three, investigate Peter Rabbit's whereabouts. Four, search for Peter Rabbit. Five, discover Peter Rabbit. - Looks like someone got us the Saurus for himus. - Do you have something to add, Mr. Magzucker? - No, go ahead, Captain. - This is Art thief, Jessica Rabbit. She was recorded escaping from a heist at the Plastocene Porcine Gallery, aided by this figure. - Is that Captain Rabbit? - It certainly looks like him, even with the handlebar mustache. - It can't be. He'd never be involved in something like that. - The evidence says something to the contrary, Doctor. - You know as well as I do, that Peter wouldn't be a party to Art theft. - But he is known to have been involved with Jessica Rabbit on previous occasions. Did he not in fact let her go when he had turned custody about his very ship? - She escaped. - According to the official report. - Captain Rabbit always adhered to the rules. I don't know what you're accusing him of, but you better back off right now. - Or else what? - Or else. Sorry, Captain. - Mr. Magzucker, you are confined to quarters until further notice. Is that understood? - Aye, Captain. Now, I am aware that you all feel some connection to your previous captain. But times change, people change. We are at war, so we no longer have the luxury of knowing who is friend and who is full. We have our orders. Find Peter Rabbit. (upbeat music) (somber music) (somber music) - You'll come into my home and ask me for a favor. You never invited me round for a game of golf. Tea and biscuits on the lawn. You'll never ask me to hold you little baby who watched the baseball game with foam hand on a corn dog. But still, you'll ask me for favors. Never let it be said that Don Cheadle is a dog to ignore his friends when they need him most. I will help you to find a violin teacher. Now leave me. - Dogfather? - Ah, my sweet dear child. What can I do for you? - I bring a friend to see you. He wants to ask you a question. - Any friend of yours, my dear, is a friend of mine. Please ask him to come in. - Okay, Peter, he's agreed to see you. Remember to treat him with the greatest of respect. - Okay, do you think I'll be able to answer my questions? - There isn't anything he doesn't know. He has people everywhere, but be prepared. Nothing comes for free. - I'm prepared. I must find out what's going on at hair command. - Good luck, Peter. - Yes, thank you. That's appreciated. (knocking) - Come in, my friend. Please, sit down. - Jessica tells me you're a friend of hers. - Yes, we grew up together on Overbite. - Were you close? - I believe so, yes. - Mr. Rabbit, if you are unable to be utterly truthful with me, then I will struggle to repay you with information of a similar truthful nature. Do we have an understanding? Good. Were you and Jessica close? - Yes. - Good. Now we're making progress. Jessica, she tells me that you used to be a hair command a captain, what happened? - A friend of mine was kidnapped and being held hostage by the mimics. Hair command wouldn't listen, so I had to go it alone. - A rescue mission, how nice. She obviously meant a lot to you. - Yes, she did. - And you were one day return to hair command and to her? - I hope to. One day. - Very well. I will help you and then return. I ask of you one favor, which will be repaid at a time of my choosing. - Anything, name it. - Like I said, a favor at a time of my choosing. - Sure, when would you like it? - Are you listening to me, kid? At a time and place of my choosing. - You just say when and where? - Listen here, kid. (laughing) - Oh, my dear boy. What information are you seeking? - Mimics have started an incursion to hair command. They have somehow managed to make people believe that mimics are extinct. Jessica thinks that you will know a way to expose them. A way to free the people of Overbite from their influence. - Yes, I can be of assistance to you. It is true that many believe that mimics more longer exist, but those of us under the radar are more different. This is the last known address of a scientist. - A scientist. - Doctor, ooh. - Doctor, ooh. - Yes. If you can find them, he is the greatest expert on mimics in the universe. - Thank you for your help. If there is anything I can do for you, just let me know when and where. - Get out, just go. (knocking) - I think we're getting closer. - Hi. - Is everything okay? - I... - No, it's fine. Does Zoe hold me as usual? What did he say? - He's given me this address. It's the Doctor, ooh. - Oh, yes. He knows everything about everything. Well, the sooner we see him, the sooner you can go back to Hair Command. This way. - Why have you asked me to meet you down here? What's wrong with your quarters? - Given Captain Primrose's current state of mind, I didn't want to draw attention to our activities. - What activities? What are we doing? - We need to find Captain Rabbit. - Okay, now I'm confused. I thought that's what Captain Primrose was doing. - Yes, but we need to get Captain Rabbit before she does. - So we need Peter. Just slightly more than she does. Why? - Because something isn't right. - You can say that again. - Why would Hair Command send the flagship vessel on a hunt for an AWOL captain? - Maybe he owes someone some credit? - He knows something, Doctor. Something that someone doesn't want him to tell. - I think you need to rest, Commander. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have duties to attend to. (upbeat music) - Maybe I am going crazy. - Negative, Commander? - Excuse me, Delta. - You are not going crazy. While cleaning out Robot Alpha's data packs to try and reboot his system, Robot Alpha and I ordered a new memory processor and data chip from Goggle. It came from an old service bot from the dust crates. They hadn't wiped it and it contained sensitive information. Display the data, please, Delta. (beeping) Interesting. - Your incompetence is trying our patience, Captain. There was a reason that we let you have control of the jackalope. You assured us you were up to the task. - I am, I just need more time. - We don't have time. We ask you to do one thing, Primrose. Get that rabbit. (eerie music) (whistling) - Captain Primrose to the bridge. We are being hailed. (eerie music) - I am on my way. (eerie music) (eerie music) (whooshing) - This is Penny Primrose of the Starship Jackalope. - Is it correct that you are seeking Peter Rabbit? - It is, and who might you be? - My name is Anim Tarleton. But I have a message for my friend who wishes to remain anonymous. - Okay, what is the message? - If you want Peter Rabbit, you can find him at these coordinates, 0-0-8-7, mark 0-0-5-2. - And why do you offer up this information to us so freely? - All I can say is that the betrayals of the heart are more hurtful than betrayals to the uniform. - In transmission. (eerie music) - Thoughts? - I don't think we can take this seriously, Captain. - Because? - An unknown person gives us coordinates to an unknown place with the hopes of finding a fugitive, Captain. It sounds too good to be true. - And what do you think, Commander? - I believe the informant could well be leading us into a trap as Lieutenant Ears surmised. However, I do not see what advantages are to be gained by entrapping the Jackalope. - I agree with you, Commander. Lieutenant 1-9-Jake said the course. - Excuse me, Captain. Lieutenant Jake is in the infirmary. - The infirmary? What is he doing there? - An eye infection, which considering he only has one is quite a problem to him. (sighs) - Very well. Security Chief. Release Lieutenant Mugsucker from his confinement and bring him to the bridge. - Aye, aye, Captain. - We really need to get a new helmsman, I mean. What happens if Mr. McSucker gets run over by a bus? - Peter Rabbit, personal log. Jessica and Fethi are transporting me to the last known whereabouts of Dr. Ooh. It is my belief that with the help of this scientist, we can expose the mimics that have control of hair command. - Are we there yet? - Not yet, but we're not that far away. - Do you think we'll find what we're looking for? It's supposed to be a deserted asteroid. - I believe someone will find what they're looking for. - Are we there yet? Have you ever met this Dr. Ooh? - No, I've heard stories. He travels around a lot. He has this weird box he carries around with him everywhere. - I see. Well, let's hope he has something we can use against the mimics. - And then back off the hair command. - Are we there yet? - Yes, here we are. Crystal Cave Asteroid, last known sighting of Dr. Ooh. - Oh, I hate caves, especially ones with bats in zim. - I hate bats, especially ones who live in caves. - I don't mind bats in caves. It's strange noises that put the willies up mate. - Oh, Peter. - Look, there's a light of a head. It must be Dr. Ooh. - Think again, Rabbit. - Who are you? - I'm Captain Penny Primrose from the Jackalope, and I'm here to take you back to Hair Command. Peter, you are my prisoner. - How did you know I was here? - You were betrayed, Peter. We were given these coordinates and caught here before you. - I'm sorry, Captain, but you must surrender. - Commander Fumper. I never believed that you could betray me in this way. - I did not betray you, Captain. - It was me. - Featured in the cast were...
