Why does a loving God cast his Creatures into the lake of fire? Why, if God so loves Jerusalem and wishes to gather them why does he not?

Man is given free will. It is the greatest gift outside of our Salvation. It allows us to give to God that which God does not take for himself, that is our Love expressed by our obedience to his will plan and purpose for our lives.

Freedom comes with a great responsibility, and there will be consequences for the way we operate with regard to our God given freedom.
