We're following this breaking news. Good morning. Thanks for listening. It's going to be nice weather here while the really big stories on your listening to the today and San Diego podcast. Good morning. I'm just show Medina with NBC seven. Here's a look at some of the headlines. The largest wildfire burning in California has grown to more than 350,000 acres. According to fire authorities, the park fire started Wednesday by man who pushed a flaming vehicle into a gully filled with dried brush and Chico. The fire, which is only 10% contained, has destroyed 134 structures so far. Proposition 32 is a measure you'll see on the November ballot. It would raise the state minimum wage by $2 to $18 an hour. Hourly workers say every dollar counts, but a group representing small businesses is concerned that the higher wages would mean the end for some of them. When we try to heap on new unanticipated costs on already struggling retailers, restaurant owners, that's not going to help them get out of the COVID hole that they're trying to profit. We've got to make sure that there are policies that are paving the way and not blocking the way. Some critics question whether minimum wages should be industry specific. Fast food workers now make a minimum of $20 an hour. Healthcare workers are preparing for an increase to 25. Small minimum wage is $7 and 25 cents an hour. Caretakers of a Mission Bay Bird Sanctuary are speaking out after an act of vandalism nearly destroyed the habitat. The advocates say early Saturday morning someone threw vegetation monitoring equipment into the bay. The vandal then broke nature blinds that volunteers used to observe the birds and crushed chick shade structures and nests. Workers say it appears no birds were killed and the nests that were stomped on were not active. This is the most amount of vandalism that we've ever experienced that one of these nesting preserves. It really gets a bird lover and a wildlife lover in a tough place when you know that people went in there just to try and ruin things. Experts say these birds need an undisturbed coastal habitat to nest and breed as they typically avoid predators and people. Meteorologist Angelica Campos has a look at the forecast. Hi meteorologist Angelica Campos with your Sunday forecast. Upper 70s in San Diego, slightly cooler if you're right along the coast, water temperature between 67 and 72 degrees. Morning clouds will give way to sunshine so mostly sunny skies today around the county, even with some patchy fog that also expect it to clear in the valleys. Temperatures there right around 87 degrees. The biggest concern is going to be for the mountains and deserts today where the winds could be picking up in the afternoon and evening, ranging from 35 to 50 miles per hour, leading to blowing dust in our desert communities. It'll be a great start to the week, not as humid, but humidity will return next weekend. Have a great day. Thanks for listening to our podcast today in San Diego. I'm Nichelle Medina with NBC7.
