We're following this breaking news. Good morning. Thanks for listening. It's going to be nice weather here while the really big story is on. You're listening to the Today in San Diego podcast. Good Tuesday morning to you. It's July 2nd. I'm Stephen Luke. Firefighters work through the night in the Far East County trying to control a brush fire burning in Boulevard. So this fire, one of several that popped up Monday and certainly the biggest started when a man lost control of his SUV on I-8 and then the car flipped over and burst into flames. Investigators say the driver suffered head injuries, but survived. So we're turning our attention to the fire and as of last night around seven o'clock, it had grown more than 900 acres. It's considered to be moving with a moderate rate of spread right now, no containment. The D'Anza Springs Resort and RV campground evacuated out of concern, but so far no homes or structures have burned will be updating you on all of our NBC seven broadcast streaming and online options throughout the day. Let's get you caught up on your first alert forecast with NBC seven's chief meteorologist Shina Parveen. Good Tuesday morning. It's going to be another warm, sunny afternoon for the coast today. We'll be in the mid 70s with gradual clearing because we do have some clouds around this morning. For the Inland Valley is will be in the mid 80s and mostly sunny. For the mountains, it'll be sunny and hotter, low 90s and the deserts will be around 112 to 115 deserts are under an excessive heat warning through early next week. Weather temperatures will be ranging between about 112 and 121 degrees, dangerous heat in the deserts. For the next few days, temperatures keep warming up a little bit more so as we head into the fourth of July at the coast will be sunny in around 80 degrees. For the Inland Valley is for your fourth of July, expect high temperatures around 90 degrees and mountains will be about the mid to upper 90s for the fourth. So everyone's looking at dry weather. Just make sure you stay hydrated because it is going to stay hot as we head through the week. And make sure you stay cool. Sheena, thank you. Avocado prices could soon go up after reports of cartel violence in Mexico. Last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture suspended inspections of avocados from Mexico after two inspectors claimed they were assaulted in avocado field. So experts say the growing popularity of avocados and the money they bring in have drawn the attention of the cartels. Unclear at this point, how long inspections will be suspended experts think the region will lose seven to $10 million a day as the suspension is in effect will keep an eye on it. Meantime, Airbnb is cracking down on unauthorized and disruptive holiday parties at some rentals this weekend. Guests who book a one or two night reservation for an entire home could either be blocked from the listing or be required to agree to the company's requirements, which says they could be suspended from the platform if they break the rule. This time last year, Airbnb blocked 9,300 users from booking entire homes over a memorial and Independence Day weekends just in California. The Fleet Science Center is offering low-income families a chance to check out museums at a discount. So here's the deal. The Museums For All program, so what it's called, it's geared towards families receiving food assistance. You use your snap card to get in and it's $3 a person. That'll get you four tickets. Museums For All is part of the Fleet Science Center's effort to encourage people of all backgrounds to build a love for museums. Finally, Team USA might as well be Team San Diego when it comes to skateboarding. The Paris Olympic team just announced end of the 12 skateboarders heading to France later this month. Eight of them live right here in San Diego County and then incredible. So this includes North County Natives, Tom Schar and Bryce Wetstein. Within 10 miles of where I live in Encinitas, there's 20 of probably the best skate parks in the world. So it's kind of hard not to either want to live here or if you do grow up skating here, you'll probably get pretty good. These parks have been, they've been there for us, it's like they have a heartbeat, like it's like they're real. It's like a family. The opening ceremony is a little more than three weeks out July 26th with all of the Olympic competition following right here on NBC7. Can't wait. Have a great Tuesday. We'll talk soon.
