KZN's number one for local news, this is East Coast Radio News Watch. Deab and police have cordoned off parts of Clark Road in Berea after a shooting incident at a home, ALS paramedic spokesperson Geth Jamison says they've treated two people for multiple gunshot wounds. Jamison says they were both rushed to hospital a short while ago. The incident had taken place in the nearby half that was there and the patient came to safety outside looking for help and they were transported on the side of the road. The scene is still active. SAP Sambilo has taken over the scene and are currently investigating the shooting and what led up to the shooting. A KZN woman who was holidaying at a popular Underberg Hotel has described the moment a raging wildfire tore through the establishment. The wind and the embers were like tree hut coming over the roofs. That's how big it was. It wasn't just a little fire on the cross. It was a heart of tree and people were just running and their PJ getting into cars. The Bushman's Neckburg and Trout Resort was completely gutted after a runaway felt fire placed through the area in southern Drakensburg last week. Barbara Whiting and her husband from Amam Zintorti south of Durban were staying in one of the chalets. In an interview with News Watch, Whiting says they watched the sky turn orange from the flames describing the valley is coming alive within minutes. She says they watch the flames destroy around eight log cabins before making its way to their chalet. We watched it until the embers and the wind were coming on absolutely horizontally onto our glass doors that I said to my husband no luck we've got to go but you're very scared you don't know what to do. The DA says it once police leadership led by Minister Senzong Tuno to appear before Parliament's portfolio committee on police over the closure of over 5.4 million dockets since 2018. The dockets were closed due to insufficient evidence or leads. The DA's Lisa Shickering says the information provided by Tuno highlights key areas of concern in docket management and capacity. If one breaks down the numbers further approximately 974 cases of rape and sexual assault are closed without result every month. This means that on average about 32 victims of rape and sexual assault lose the chance of ever obtaining justice each and every day. And abroad Hamas has cast doubt on its participation in the next round of ceasefire negotiations scheduled for Thursday. It wants any resumption of ceasefire talks to be based on previous plans rather than holding new rounds of negotiations. Hamas says its latest stance has been influenced by an Israeli attack on a school in Gaza on Saturday that killed over 80 people. After a top story this hour, Durban police have cordoned off parts of Clark Road in Baria after a shooting incident at a home. For the news watch team, I'm Nushera Sudeal.
