third and final hour of this program here on Sports Radio AM 13 under the zone. Right away joined by the producer Cameron Parker getting ready for another round of football conversation and baseball. We've got some baseball that we'll get to this this hour also going to hear more from Steve Sarkeesian as well and the Longhorn football team is having another practice it'll be early this evening. And then when they get done I think they're going to have a couple players made available they'll be and that might even be a zoom thing that they do like they did yesterday with sorry the reason why they had to do that yesterday instead of an in-person media available there was a concert wasn't there last night at yeah I don't remember who the act was but there was someone I did I think it was Christian uh Christian Adal how do you spell the last name uh NOD AO oh okay all right but maybe somebody on the text it's a boy yes go ahead go ahead what he is mainly known for popularizing Maria Keno a fusion genre between mariachi in north dendel music okay okay so I think I just said all three words and correct it's okay so let me get correct this all the text like by the way if you want to text the program you're welcome to do so all you do is you text the word Texas followed by your question or comment to eight one five three zero so you text the word Texas followed by your question or comment like cam just butchered that performer's name if you want to say that all right tell us how it's correctly pronounced to eight one five three zero standard messaging and data rates may apply he probably got the performer's name right the genre of music might have been a little okay I don't know that hammer me here I don't know I'm trying to help you here I'm saying that I think you got the performer's name pretty much right just the genre of music maybe not quite roll my arms would be a little bit there you go there you go so anyway you can text the program with anything with a question or comment on your mind and also we do ever talk back feature if you would like to leave us a voice message that we would play on the air you access us via the talk back feature but like we did when we're doing the magazine giveaway for Dave Campbell's Texas football magazine and what you do is you pick up your your iPhone or your android whatever your smart phone and if you don't already have the iHeartRadio app on your phone you need to have because you can listen all kinds of stuff for free including us so you would download it but if you already have it that's fine and you go to am 1300 the zone on the iHeartRadio app really easy to do it's all free there's no charge or anything like that and there's a white button that you would push just to listen to us if you want to leave us a message on talk back there's a red button has a little white microphone in it you push that button you leave us 15 20 25 second message don't go beyond 30 seconds or it'll cut you off but somewhere in that area 15 to 30 seconds you can leave us a message on whatever it is you'd like us to discuss or what you'd like to comment on or the question you might have you can do that on the talk back feature it's a good habit to get into now because when we start giving away tickets to long horn football games this fall and we will and we're the only ones who can do it as the flagship station i'm sure uh Mike Hardball Harge and and Mark Henry the world's strongest man will do that uh with the morning kickoff that you could hear their brand new program 7 a.m. the 9 a.m. here on am 13 under the zone and then our program obviously in the afternoons starting at two o'clock so we're gonna give away football tickets to long horn games this season but in order to win them there'll be a contest in the contest will also include your participation on talk back so you don't have to do that so it's an easy it's really easy to do it's just a good habit to get into but if you'd like to text the program you're certainly welcome to do that we we always welcome that if you'd like to uh if if you would like to uh text in the program please feel free to do it okay um we were talking about the cowboys and if you missed it go back you can on our podcast page after the show you can listen the camera parker actually give Jerry Jones credit for something he actually he actually takes some credit and rightfully so with with their drafting of and development of offensive lineman correct yeah in the first round but having said that yes when they're not drafting offensive lineman and it's uh it's a little bit dicey yeah it's very dicey i'm looking at 2010 desbright they hit on that tyrantsmith 2011 mochle born in 2012 at number six pick did not go so well 2013 they get back to their offensive lineman and draft Travis Frederick then of course 2014 zach martin great picks that's a great run in about five years Byron Jones in 2015 Zeke in 2016 toggle charlton oh 2017 didn't go well uh you could argue that Zeke elia pick wasn't the right pick you could say it was uh no i think it was i think that was worthy enough of the pick they did i think they got value from him yeah or they could have drafted jailin ramsey uh 2018 late in vanda res to you know had all of his injury concerns lasted a good bit but you know his football career is pretty much over with uh 2019 didn't have a pick remember they traded that for mari cooper who then now plays with cleveland browns but then the last uh five years uh pretty good cdlam in 2020 mica parsons 21 tyler smith in 2022 tyler geith in this past year the only one is a question mark is mazi smith in 2023 now uh we'll see about that of course you know drafting defensive lineman in the first round a lot of teams usually hesitate in doing that they think you can get better value with with later rounds in the pick and mazi had yeah he didn't have a great season this past year wasn't super impactful but from what we heard in training camp uh he's gotten high praise from mike zimmer and mccarthy he's gotten high praise from mica parsons so hopefully that's the guy that can turn it up in the middle because the cowboys definitely will need him after you know losing a couple guys including dorris armstrong um the reason why i brought the cowboys back up and as has been pointed out on this program ad nauseam mainly from camera and parker the cowboys have won a super bowl since the 1995 season uh if you want to know by the way the actual date was january 28 1996 is when it happened uh that press cop was two and a half years old camp or parker had not been born yet when that happened 23 months later okay now that all is true and that all has happened sorry uh by the way it was wwe monday night raw last night so it was not christian Adele oh okay well there you go all right all right was marcanary there last night you would think so you would think he probably would be there it's a good question they probably would be the reason why i bring all this back up about the cowboys he was he was yes good good for marcan um the reason why i bring this back up about the cowboys there's a group called sportico are you familiar with it sportico evaluates franchise value for pro sports teams and today today sportico released what are called valuations not evaluations just valuations what what the value is for the top 10 nfl teams um let's see eight okay i'm going to give them to you in reverse order okay number 10 the los vegas raiders are worth six point seven billion dollars and they're just 10th believe it or not washing commanders are the ninth most valuable franchise in the nfl 6.3 billion philadelphia eagles number eight at 6.75 billion by me dolphins seven six point seven six billion new york jets sixth six point eight billion dollars san francisco 49ers number five on the list six point eight six billion dollars new england patriots fourth on the list seven point three one billion new york giants are third seven point six five billion the number two second highest valued franchise is the los angeles ramps seven point seven nine billion which brings us to number one and you probably knew they were going to be number one and yes they are the dallas cowboys are head and shoulders on top of the list of the most valuable franchise and for that matter valuable sports franchise with a list value of 10 billion three hundred twenty million dollars uh they became the first sport franchise to surpass the 10 billion dollar valuation 10 billion 320 million it's interesting when you think about when jerry jones bought the cowboys in 1989 how much he paid for them 140 million 140 million less than half of the spare change on that 10 billion 10 billion 320 million dollars is what the cowboys are valued at now when jerry bought the franchise from bum bright in february of 1989 he did it for 140 million dollars and he talks about how he had to mortgage himself to the ends of the earth and all that sort of stuff now it's more 10 billion 320 million dollars not only the top franchise in the nfl the top franchise in all of sport that's uh so that tells you something good investment yeah good investment forms had them uh valued at nine billion earlier but now in in case you're wondering the 32 nfl franchises collectively are worth a hundred and ninety billion dollars including team related businesses and real estate that's held by the owners because that you know includes stadiums and land and things of that nature 10 billion your team the one you're so fed up with the one that you're so frustrated with the other with you have to hand in credit oh yeah for valuing that franchise and building that value up to 10 billion 320 million dollars fantastic business owner uh poor gm when you when you look at the article in sportico the first thing it says in this slug the Dallas Cowboys have not been to the NFC championship game in 28 years and the resume includes 13 losses in 18 playoff games since that last appearance in the Super Bowl but hey top 10 billion dollars so what do you care most about jerry winning or money and guessing it's the money well most people feel that it builds right now jerry is very quick as we have pointed out as he has said we air to his comments here on that training camp opening print he said and you know i've said this before if i could ride a check if i could ride a check to get that Super Bowl trophy you know i'd do it in a minute he wouldn't write it he wouldn't write it for 10 billion but if somebody told him 10 million yeah he'd write it i would i think he would because he would probably figure that if he wrote a 10 million dollar check and which guaranteed them winning the Super Bowl and they did the franchise value would only go up it would be an investment this is the way to put it you know by the way i guess that they not only was Mark Henry there his son Jacob was there they also announced them at the effects my cards was there as well he's texted us excellent excellent that he can listen to Mark Henry every morning on the morning kickoff yeah my card's out in the night more about that yeah because he is a ww superstar forgive my ignorance i'm not i'm not into the wrestling he's i'm going to have to get into it with Mark Henry on our he's one of the all-time greats that had about it all right coming up we're going to hear more from law warns head football coach steve sarkisian we'll hear from sark talking about his team as they go back to the practice field later this afternoon when we continue on sports radio am 13 under the zone any IR radio
