The Fireflies took three of the first four games against the Annapolis Cannonballers in a rain-soaked week at segment park courtesy of Hurricane Debbie. The long ball has led the way for Columbia who leads single-aid teams with 12 homers in their first eight games through August. Braille's top prospect Blake Mitchell has led the way on that front though. In Friday's double-headery smoked a three-run homer in game one to lead the Fireflies to an eight-to-three victory and then in game two, he came to the plate again in the sixth inning for this. Fitch to lefty Mitchell, crank to right field. That ball is out of here. Home run number 15 of the season for Blake Mitchell and it's a one-run ball game. It was the first time that Mitchell homered in back-to-back games at Sega Park this season. The Fireflies also witnessed a vintage Felix Orandé start. The righty worked his team leading six-quality star of the season Saturday to lead Columbia to a three-two win over the Cannonballers. Tuesday, Columbia heads on the road to play against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in their penultimate road trip of the season. From Columbia, I'm John Cossis.
