Tim Barbalaise, Mike Bortick, Baltimore Baseball tonight tonight at six. Let's talk some Orioles and some Ravens. Maybe a little soccer as well with Carpovich covers the Ravens from Baltimore Sports.com, the Orioles for press box and Carp thanks as always for joining us. We're exactly four weeks away from the trade deadline. How aggressive do you expect the Orioles to be? I think they'll be aggressive. I think this is the year. I think they have the talent. They make a run at this and it's obvious they need to start pitching. Gary Crotchet, Rosarith, Mamaras, two names that keep popping up. Mike Elias said right now it's a seller's market because there's so many teams with extra playoff spaces. There's so many teams to contention. A lot of teams don't really want to do their trade potential. You think the Blue Jay, the White Sox, these are already so far down so far. They need good partners. But yeah, I think the Orioles will be aggressive to be learned less than last year by not being aggressive. So I think they're looking to start a pitcher and maybe a bullpen arm. The biggest trade they've obviously executed to this point is the Corbin Burns deal, which is working out well for both teams. We opened the show with this discussion and we've got to pull up on it and want to get your opinion. I'm of the mind that I love everything about them, but this franchise having a 33 year old pitcher halfway through a six year, 300 million dollar contract. I just don't know that that's good business for them, especially without having any cost certainty about Gunner or Adley or Westbrook or after that, Bassio Holiday, whomever. Would you agree with me? Yeah, they're going to allocate this far. I mean, I think your first party is trying to get Gunner's size. You got what you always don't guys that are going to command huge contracts, right? You know, Burns, you know, he's also, you know, he's in the running with Saiong right now, you know, at the award, but since we go to Kansas City, I think there's two top pitchers in the American League. But again, you know, the Orioles have a lot of business making business. They're going to spend a lot of money to get these young guys signed. So yeah, and ideally, you know, they could start trapping some of these pitchers and developing some of these guys as opposed to position players. Maybe why it's really diverted most of those resources in the Mario League to get these position players to develop. And now you think about getting his pitching, but yeah, Burns will be a luxury and no doubt. I mean, Burns is one of the one that's seeking what he's having. He's going to test the free agent. Well, I think he's going to outprice and stuff in Orioles anyway. So it really doesn't matter. Scott Boris is taking no discounts. He got his nuts handed to him last year. He if corporate Burns can make one more penny, picture that Topeka, Kansas, he's going to Topeka, Kansas. Yeah, you know, the Orioles wish it would have been great over the years. I agree with you. He's going to be getting burns recommended huge salary. And I don't think the Orioles will be able to match it wherever it goes. Topeka's got the pockets. I do. I'm just saying, I know he would go. Yeah. Whatever. Yeah. Todd, we talk a lot about what prospects could be untouchable. What prospects could end up getting dealt? But do you think there's a possibility of some major leaguers, guys on the 26th man roster, getting dealt to improve this roster? Yeah, I was looking at that. I don't see, you know, I don't see what, what the, you know, curse that be a guy that can tell a talented guy that can handle this and there is a free agent in this year. You know, he's a certain hormone here. They have surplus outfitters. Maybe, you know, he has value for a team with the power down on the stretch run. You know, I don't know what you get back from a tail. You know, Jason and I were talking about this last week at the pool. But the solos, the solomura is even more, you know, valuable than all Jack and Holly right now, because of the catching station, you know, that's something to think about. I don't think they're trading Jack and Holly Bay. Sure. But they have a lot of talent. These teams, they want the solos. That's the guy, you know, most teams are eyeing because he's getting so well. And now, you know, he's going to play in the future's game, you know, so he even got more exposure. So, yeah, far as it makes me roster, you know, they're not going to train the arms because they can't afford to. So, you know, one of the rock pillars, you know, they were straight. I don't know how much valuable it has or I can't, I can't, can see, can see them getting much faster for eight, you know, you know, they're slim figures and they're making me roster. So, you know, you would definitely have a path with your guys. We're up with our leaders. Well, when we're talking to Scott Carver vidgets inside access here on the fan, what about a name? And we talked about this last segment like Ryan Mountcastle carp. And if Kobe Mayo is more suited to eventually be at first base, Ryan Mountcastle's got some value. Could you see them trading him? Not interesting. Yeah, he could come in, you know, something, something, something back, especially, you know, with the oils, you know, that left your core. We all belong outside. So is trouble with, yeah, that guy's interesting, you know, because they have some guys who play first base and they want to be a guy who eventually takes some rest of the first base. So they have that. That'd be another guy, you know, you see that packaging for a pitcher. That's interesting because you did, he's another guy who could really help a team down the stretch with his power. Todd Monk and obviously season did not end the way he would have liked. A lot of people would have liked. How confident are you that he can, you know, put that behind him, that this offense can evolve and a team that's still, you know, let's face it, there's not a whole lot of wide receivers out there who have lit the world on fire on this roster right now. The offensive line is clearly in flux. How confident are you that the offense could pick up where it left off? I'm pretty confident, you know, they were good for 17 games last year. They want to ultimately do the second year on their monkey's office. Look, man, the Raven's panic in the playoffs. Okay, I mean, that was it. They got it. They got away from what we got. We got them there. They got away from what was successful. That was running the football. It's despicable. They've done it a couple of times in the playoffs, you know, it's 19 when they were 14 and two, you know, they got away from what they did. Well, you know, so I was like, I'm going to story this more, you know, they were very judgment by the season. They didn't work, you know. They're going to be focused with the during the postseason. They're going to be judged winning Super Bowls. That's the way it's going to be. I think they're ready. They're going to, they have a good team up and they have a really good roster in the starting line. I think it's a top five roster. I think they're going to have to make the playoffs. The question is, what are they going to do when they get there? Are they going to save their strength? Are they not going to panic? Are they going to play, you know, Raven football? That's, that's what they get away from. That's what's cost them in the playoffs. So they, you know, I think I think that monkey's up. It's going to be signed over by the season. It's a matter of, you know, they stick to the strength in person. Todd, how much concern does just the offensive line, the question marks along that give you? Yeah, I think there's a lot of uncertainty there, you know, replacing three starters. I think, you know, pro football focus put out a, put out a ranking here at the 25th, you know, offensive line in a fail, which I can see, you know, I do like, I think all for the line has potential. I think, you know, I think Rose and Gordon's going to have a pretty good year. I think Boardies is going to have a really good year, the way he's worked. I think it's better than people are set. I think there's been some growing pain there. The first, you know, six, seven games at the season, those guys didn't get to know each other, but John Harbaugh said he wants to have the starting lineup set early in training camp. So these guys, you see each other getting their timing down. So yeah, I think it's a work in progress, but I think they're going to be okay. When you got Derek Henry Lamar Jackson, that's going to match a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot of, you know, poor play there, carp. And they can get back to, excuse me, Ravens and Orioles in a minute, but I'm interested in your thoughts in last night's soccer match. Jason's going to give his thoughts at three 15. The U S a team loses to Uruguay last night one to nothing felt like the officiating kind of job them that said, that said, well, where are you on the U S men's national team? I know you are a huge soccer guy. I'm curious to get your thoughts. Well, you have lost against Panama. That was the game. They shouldn't have lost. Uruguay wasn't playing for anything. They didn't have a coach on the side. They had a red card and they still want one nothing. Um, he didn't, it's universal, but this church has got it. For all to have to go. There's no things under achieved. They have no, the whole stone line plays in some of the best regions Europe. They should plan there. They attack against Panama. They went down one minute. They stopped attacking. They should be Panama three to one to 10 guys, we nine guys. You know, um, it's been a, it's been a mitigated disaster with this coach. Now, the question is, do they spend money and go out and go up a big time coach, you know, or, you know, or they, they sort of settle for, you know, his assistant, but yeah, it's obvious this national team needs to be overhauled and it needs to start ASAP. This is World Cup in two years and you have the person, they can't afford to get knocked down, though. I know the first stage in the room, World Cup, you know, was watching the game with our buddy, Mike Deeter last night and like right around halftime, it just sort of occurred to me. Like Christian Polish is, you know, as talented as any player we've ever developed and he's coming off a season where he's highly decorated in a league, you know, in Italy that he just moved to where most Americans have suffered over the years. It's been a tough league for American players, um, by and large. And Todd, he's been a, he's been a focal point of some of the biggest failures in US soccer history. And he's only been on the scene for, you know, six, seven years. Like the, the, you know what I mean? The loss of TNT. And I'm not saying it's all on him, but like, like, he's on the pitch for that. Like he's, he's involved, you know, to some degree in this whole Gio Reyna, Claudia Reyna, Bear Halter, you know, all the in fighting that's going on at the World Cup. He's a sink sink. He's one of the more outspoken voices about bringing this idiot coach back, right? He's on the pitch for the loss against Panama. He's on the pitch last night where they were going to need goals to advance. They never get close to scoring goals. And then he's, he's, you know, fighting with the officials. Like, I think they need somebody to challenge him. Like, I think all these guys are too comfortable and Bear Halter knew his fortunes was tied to them liking him. So he's just sucked up to all them. And the whole thing is like this incestuous, like, well, we all sort of fail up, even though we fail. That's exactly right. You know, I'm, I'm, who ever heard you when they hired, we hired bralter? They were, they asked the players their opinion. I heard they're, they're, they're horrible. They're in the worst, they're ridiculous. They're worse. They should hate your coach. What, what played coach players well? Sir, Alex Ferguson, Manchester United, to hate him. Sure, David Beckham had cut his helmet, but he, and he, and he should, David Beckham out because he said he didn't fit into the culture, Manchester United anymore. Great coaches make hard decisions. This guy's not it. I won't say who's it did head a little bit on that last night when he said, I may have to bet the coach, he said it's not his decision to make. So that wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement. Yeah, but great players elevate the players around him. And he's not that guy. He's not that guy. Todd Carpovich, he covers the oral suppress box. He covers the Ravens for Baltimore Sports.com. Carp, always great, man. Thanks for your time, brother. We will chat next week. Thanks, guys. Appreciate it.
