And we are back with Rich of Iski talking about the market for consultants and how we overcome the soft market. Rich, before we get back to the topic at hand, tell people I believe you have a job opportunity the day and then tell people how they can find you when they need you. Thanks for asking, Tony. Well, first the job of the day we, as you know, we don't do nearly the kind of firm placement or direct hire work that Babbage does. But this is a direct hire job for a senior staff tax accountant. Be ideal if they had, you know, these days to get a degree in tax you mainly have to get a master's degree. But if you have a bachelor's degree in accounting and a specialty in tax that would work, it's here in Dallas. It is mostly on site about four days a week, but it's with a great family office. Neat people, the CFO of that family office is somebody that I've worked with before. You won't find a nicer man and better leader and better mentor than he is. And the pay for this is between 90 and 120,000 per year depending on your experience. There's a great perks and benefits this office has some luxury properties that candidates that can, you know, participate and spend time in and stuff like that. Really, really good group. And so anybody who's interested, the best way to learn more about it is just dial my direct dial number. That number is 214-515-7633, 214-515-7633. Or you can apply online, you can send your information to our email address which is info, I-N-F-O at East, I'm sorry, at e57partners, p-a-r-t-n-e-r-s.com. Info@e57partners.com. Or you can apply online using our app. You can download it for free off of any smartphone and you can apply directly from your phone or from your desktop, whatever way suits you. And you'll see the information about this particular opportunity and, I don't know, 30 some odd more opportunities that you can inquire about or apply for directly online. And then also you can, while you're there, you can enroll to receive our newsletter or you can enroll to receive announcements of upcoming free continuing professional education events that we either sponsor or co-sponsor. So those are all the ways to get with us. Can always find rich when you eat them. Very good. So what else have you found that people can do to overcome the soft market? Well, first of all, just don't panic. Even bad markets have what I call veins of opportunities. Think about first responders who are admired because they run toward the fire to help people. I think if you're a consultant, you should run toward certain areas where things are broken to see if you can apply your skills to help fix them. And even if you're in the permanent job market, not a consultant, but are looking for a job, some of these industries that are having tough rough sledding are the very ones that need to hire highly skilled people with good energy to prop them up. I've mentioned before in my career I lived through two major banking crises and I could barely spell banking during the first one. And I made more money in consulting than I ever did in my life even to this day during that crisis because the banks needed help in digging themselves out. And the government added to that with regulatory compliance and that sort of thing. So certain sectors go up in bad economic times. If you're in consulting services around bankruptcy or restructure or cost analysis or turnaround work, or if you're in sales, anything that can prop up sales for a company that's struggling is a big plus. So go out and apply your skills there. Things about how to make companies more efficient, that sort of thing. Second, you mentioned before the break about sometimes people became complacent in their career and thought, "Well, I'm so good that if I lost my job to that, I'd find another one in a week or something like that." And the thing is that might have been true a year or two ago, but right now that's a little bit less likely. So you've got to figure out ways to differentiate yourself. There's a lot more competition for the job you want. The timeline for finding a new job is longer than it was a year or two ago. So as a market softens, you may want to find a way to differentiate yourself. For example, everything I read says there's still a push for companies wanting to get people back in the office. So the simplest thing on earth you could do is be willing to work on site a year ago. Most people, young people especially said, "No, I'm not going to do that." Well, maybe you should. Unless you have some special need or something at home, it just seems the easiest thing in the world. Anybody could do that. Along with that is being adaptable. I think that's a big differentiator. During a hot market, workers and consulting providers could and did often demand certain entitlements and employers had to accommodate that. Now, just willingness as I said to work on site or travel or do something extra will be a great differentiator and make you stand out against what is now much more and more competition. Then third, if you're a consultant, I always say old clients are the best clients. This goes back to relationship building. Sometimes when business is good, we ignore our old smaller clients because in a hot market, we see shiny new opportunities. We sometimes take our foot off the gas because we're confident if our current company didn't like us, we could go someplace else. Well, now's the time to keep your foot on the gas just because it's slow doesn't mean you shouldn't work less, means you should work more. Yeah, that's right. So, those are all the things that come to mind in all of this. Rich, you always make us think and have the wisdom of experience. Thank you all for listening, Christian. I love you. Let's all pray for peace, pray for the unborn. Forgive and ask forgiveness, stay humble. Take a moment today to be grateful, pray for those that are needing work, pray for our society.
