Today, we're shining the spotlight on the often-overlooked perils of the family and spinning some classic tunes. Being the middle child often means flying under the radar, but today we celebrate these unique individuals on National Middle Child Day. The concept of "middle child syndrome" suggests that middle children feel overlooked, but they also develop incredible adaptability and strong negotiation skills. Many famous middle children like Abraham Lincoln and Jennifer Lopez show us that being in the middle can be a powerful position. So let's take a moment to appreciate the unique contributions that middle children bring to their families. Well, all I hear all day long at school is how great Marsha is at this, or how wonderful Marsha did that. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. So what do you think is an appropriate gift for my sister? For a middle child? Yeah. I don't know. I was thinking like not telling her that dessert was ready or something like that. That would be really great, right? No, she would be used to that her whole life. How about you maybe give her some records? Well, that's a great idea because it's also National Vinyl Record Day. Look at that! Vinyl records have made a remarkable comeback, but their history goes back over a century. The first commercial vinyl record was produced by R.C. Victor in 1930, and by the mid-20th century, vinyl became the standard for music lovers. Despite the rise of digital music, vinyl records hold a nostalgic charm and offer a rich, warm sound that many still cherish. So dust off your turntable, drop the needle, and let the music take you back to a bygone era. I think vinyl records are so cool. They are. I have hundreds of them, by the way. What? When? When? I've always had them, but I've been collecting or jukeboxes lately that play vinyl. I think vinyls are the coolest thing. And I need to get a record player. You should do that. I have a couple I'll let you borrow one if you want. Or you could just buy me a new one because you're a great friend. Wow. I don't know. The newer ones look so cute, and they're like plastic but modern. Plastic but modern, really. Nothing about a bygone era here, everybody. I'll let's wait a chance. Let's just buy a new one too while we're at it. I'm Marlo Anderson. Thank you for joining us on our journey to celebrate every day. Until next time. Keep celebrating. Now let's see who's celebrating on our birthday club as a week begins. I have names for Sunday the 11th and Monday the 12th. And one yesterday for the 11th, Terry Flint. And for the 12th, Polly Johnson, who's 85. Happy birthday to you, Terry Flint on the 11th and Polly Johnson on the 12th. I'm taking names now for August 13th through 31st and all of September. Let me know who's celebrating. Get in on our birthday club. I announce everyone's name on this program all through the week as you just heard Sunday and Monday. And then at the end of the week, Friday and Saturday, and at the end of the week, our drawing with a really nice price package, all seven days of birthdays in that drawing. Text birthdays to me at 336-932-1881. So big name birthdays for Sunday and Monday, George Hamilton, 86, Hulk Hogan, 72, violated Davis 60. In our music spotlight, we're celebrating National Vinyl Record Day with a recording from Louis Armstrong on the Columbia label of 78 RPM record from 1929.
