I am Jody Walker. I'm Personally obsessed with making it a Josh Hartnett summer something that I think only I am doing but I'm positive We'll catch on. I am joined by my co-host Chelsea Stark Jones who is taking us through all the True crime drama of the week and we're both checking back in on clipped And normally I like to start this podcast off by asking how my good friend Chelsea is doing but I think this week I'm gonna start off by tell you how I'm doing which is not good And i'm so sorry. Why not? Because I am a person who never learns a lesson. I just I spin it I spin it into a positive but maybe the worst thing about me the most negative thing I do consistently is Put a can of Coke zero in the freezer to quickly chill it and get it out Ideally get it out three hours later, but most likely not get it out at all and it explodes Today I got it out an unknown amount of time later. I thought an appropriate time I rushed over to my desk to record we're obsessed with Chelsea I cracked open my coke zero not even a thing. I normally drink while podcasting because it's very burpy and It was fully it was halfway frozen and it exploded Literally in every crevice of my desk in every corner of this room And it continued to explode as I carried it out of the room and to the sink leaving a trail of coke zero and shame Behind me in my wake truly all over my home And I can I can still smell it and i'm so mad at myself. Yeah, I didn't say that still do it again I'll do it again. That smell is gonna linger for the whole the entirety of the record So this this feeling is gonna stay with you for the next hour plus which is and it's it's actually important Because um my therapist has told me before that behavior changes are not motivated by shame, but I disagree I'm very motivated by shame So maybe if I have to Sit in this smell for the next 50 minutes, then I will stop putting coke zeros in the freezer But I ask you this Chelsea, how else am I supposed to get them cold fast? Because i'm definitely not going to remember to put them in the refrigerator Yeah, that was going to be my next question Why do we not just put the coke zero in the refrigerator and leave it there? I don't know. What am I a fucking genius? I can't do it I can't remember to do it and they have to be cold and I don't like them on ice This is a very personal problem and i'm sorry that I've brought um this this personal cloud of anger To the podcast, but i'm excited because I am I we are talking about some things today that I am really excited about It's also a holiday week. So I feel like holiday weeks are often weird and random in the sort of Pop culture that they bring us, but Chelsea, you know, but before we get into it. I I will ask How are you doing? Uh, yeah, you know, I'm doing slightly better than you. I have no coke zero sprayed all over my floor Um But now I'm I'm very excited for the 4th of July your girl loves a barbecue We're actually not barbecuing. Um, we're gonna we're gonna do a crab oil this 4th of July So I'm very excited and my brother will be back in town. So I get to spend time with him Um, so I'm very excited about that too and be by the pool. So like yeah, I'm um itching for the 4th um And yeah to drink and be by the pool and be with my favorite people. It's gonna be fun So that's that's how I'm doing. I'm just excited to get through This record Well, you know, I mean if I could recommend anything it's that you quick cool all of your beers, uh in the freezer this Thursday, I hope I believe that by the time anyone is listening to this they will have already had their holiday And I hope they made it through it Without spilling anything all over their feet, which are indeed sticky Let's get into pop culture and not oh wow if I were better at puns That would have been a great opportunity for a pop joke, but I'm not good at So I missed it That's not a good one Pop out of pop and into pop culture. Please insert your own pun at home And Chelsea you introduced me to something live on air that I've maybe kind of scrolled past on tiktok And not engaged in which you are completely obsessed with which is uh, what's going on online right now The karen read trial and correct me if i'm wrong Big big news this week. Yes. Oh my gosh the way I have been on verdict watch for the last several days Like I don't think I've been invested in legal minds people. She's a legal man She's like every hour she's taking the baby bar like kim kardashia Every hour I have been checking karen read child verdict care and like nothing the jury deliberated They said for only really like 28ish hours, but it like spanned four days I think um and a weekend which you know, they don't deliberate over the weekend But like on last friday, they came to the judge told the judge we are like at very We're split like we don't see a way out. We don't think we could come to a like Uh, unanimous verdict and the judge was like now You still need to like go in there do some more dig in figure it out So they took the weekend they come back on monday They still were like we're split we're split finally the judge is like, okay. I'm declaring this miss trial And I'm angry because I don't understand how and god's blue are like how did These people think this woman was guilty. I don't understand it like and I know jody You have like been skimming it, but the evidence that I have seen online on tiktok Um, but I mean it's to be fair all airing on court tv and like on the court tv Tiktok. Those are the tiktoks. I've been watching and live testimony I I have a shadow of a doubt that this woman did not do it Just like a sliver like so the fact that there were people on that jury That were like very strong in thinking that she in fact ran over this man and left him in the cold to die Like baffles me because the pro sec or the yeah the prosecutions Whole argument like did not make sense. It was contradicted by so many experts in the fbi And on top of that so it has been declared a miss trial They are they being the prosecution are hellbent on convicting this woman karen read They will retry her. They are so strong in this they Fired their lead prosecutor who was a mess and a half But they couldn't necessarily firehand they had to like transfer him to a different county because I guess like firing a police officers really hard, um, which I guess we know that but um Yes, so they want to retry this case and the townies The townies in canton, massachusetts, this is boston Look close in a suburb area. These townies They're pissed They're pissed and they want answers in which direction are they pissed they're pissed with law enforcement They feel like these Police officers are corrupt as hell. They do not believe that karen did it. They think this was a botched investigation and because it Involves a police family. They think that Or multiple police families, but in which they think that it was the um The family of the home that this happened all that uh was involved in this and that's being severely covered up Which I agree I do think that there is something more to this and it really does seem as if they just said karen reads guilty And we're going to find evidence to support our theory instead of getting the evidence and having the evidence lead them to a um suspect Because they didn't go into the house whatsoever in which this whole thing occurred in uh, the evidence act was gathered was heavily tampered with and It just logically does not make sense. None of it makes sense. So It's currently a mistrial. The fbi is also investigating this case not the murder itself But they're investigating the police's department's investigation Which I think will also could potentially help karen read out because two of those investigators from the fbi spoke at her trial And very much did not think that um A car accident could have been the result of this man's death. So Yeah, I don't understand How they're going to have a retrial. Yeah, because like how are they going to find an unbiased? Jury at this point. Yeah, they'd have to move it out as the county people who are not on tiktok But those old people are watching the news, baby And I watched this on on cbs this morning today The news and when I the towers that were angry were 50 and above So they're they're in it. They are in it. So I just like I don't understand it It is so crazy to me, but what I have loved about this whole experience um, which I hate saying love because it did result in a man's death But what has been fascinating about it is the online stand culture of like these new internet lawyers that are certified through the bar of WWW worldwide web like I am so fascinated by this and it reminds me of like when Tom jrardi was being investigated for all his law fair and we had all the bravo accounts like suddenly being You know legal experts or like when anything goes on in our government when it's like, oh, this is happening And then all of a sudden like every talking head is an expert in like economics or like agricultural law or whatever It's just like now. It's like this thing is happening and everybody knows exactly what every you know, um Legal term and jargon is and they're explaining it and I don't know if i'm an idiot And i'm just believing every tom dick and harry on the internet that says they understand what's going on But it's been really fun to be a part of the karen reed lore online Yeah, I mean, it's interesting what people just Get behind and I think we've seen that or a lot in recent years like the the internet mob can Definitely be used for bad It can be used for good and it can be used for something that's like well We don't know if we're using this good or bad until the end like you know She has all of this Sort of support behind her and that support comes from the lack of evidence and the pretty obvious like presumed guilt instead of presumed innocence A show that I am watching on apple tv starring jake jilin hall that I really recommend that everyone watches It's really good And you know legal legal ease is so hot right now um But like yeah, we don't know and we're not lawyers, but then there are like actual lawyers who sort of Provide their expertise, but then it's like how Kosher is that I don't know the um The true crime side of tick tock is It's a lot people put a lot of time and energy into that they do And it's a buzz and it's it's really fascinating. So what I would like to see which I probably won't see Considering they will try this case again. Um, I would like to see a karen read interview on a national platform Um one-on-one. I'd like to see that. I would also like to see an interview with john o' keith's brother Because it does seem as if he believes that karen is guilty So I would like to hear from him considering Everything that the public now knows about the trial and like the things that just don't add up Um his perspective of it all But I I don't think anyone will really talk until this is tried again And to your point too like yeah, I have no idea where this could be tried again where it could be fair because everyone at least in the Canton massachusetts area is in on this and even if you move it a little bit outside, it seems like people will just know What has been going on? It'd be hard to find a fair jury. Yeah, um, I'm also thinking about that You know, I'll do you one worse than getting your information from tick tock and that is getting information from a tick tock comment Uh, but I did see a tick tock comment today That was like I think that netflix is following this so like I hope that there's you know a netflix documentary on this and It's weird to hope these kinds of things like you said in like A trial, but when something catches on like this It's it's weird. It's weird. It's always kind of weird to be like out in front of it Like out in front of the netflix stock and that opportunity presents itself a lot more now These days with like this sort of like tick tock slosming Yeah, I definitely I did see like a picture of karen Out in town. This was prior to the jury deliberating and a camera crew with her Um, so it's being documented. It is being documented We we don't have this in the outline. So I just a quick little like pivot Um, I think my girl gyps her lifetime Docu series is back out. Have you watched the like reboot? I haven't watched it. I feel like people haven't been talking about it as much. Um, this go round, but yeah, I also Feel like she has kind of like four different Uh things that are being filmed and I I do think that the lifetime one had another installment Yeah, I did if anyone's watching it. Let us know because I let us know if it's worth watching I do love my girl gyps. She's been making some news. She's been saying some crazy shit online Uh But um, I don't know if it's worth tuning in to the lifetime I didn't jump through a lot of hoops to be able to watch it the first time. So I don't know if I'm going to do it again It is harder to get to lifetime than it used to be That is for sure and There are some people like gypsy rose that are just going to keep recurring and that is a segue into a new segment that I am calling We're finally ready to talk about it finally I'll talk about it myself And I think that We've been avoiding this because I wasn't obsessed before This week I got got and I got interested and I clicked all the way in on Hot to a girl Chelsea at what point in your Um, you know this one wild and precious life that you're leading did you learn about? Hot to a girl When did I catch on to hot to a girl? I don't It was it was it was fairly Early on in the in the lore of of her. Um And I have to say when I saw it, I was like This is what we're getting crazy over. It was the same thing about me and the um, what was that baby the um Four seasons baby. I was like, you know, we're Historically wrong about That needed to be clicked in on immediately that baby is a star That baby had a quick life set not the baby, but like the story about the baby Had a quick life cycle on it though. It was like Precious and and but you're right that this does hot to a girl does remind me of four seasons, baby because Although this took place on tiktok is sort of like it comes from a man on the street interview is sort of a very current story It does like herkin back to this older Virality, but four seasons baby is closed like I bet that baby is doing more hilarious stuff But she put her little hand up. She said me. I want to go to the four seasons Orlando She went to the four seasons Orlando and that family is back to being like a happy non viral family I as far as I know Hup to a girl Keeps coming up So like now I have to know like as a pop culture obsessive now I have to know what's going on So For anyone who doesn't know this what's it called when you when the word is the sound an autumn on a pia? Yeah, I think you're sharing it me So blankly all of the light just went out of your eyes On a lawn of pia. I can't even spell that An autumn on a pia is like a chu like it's like when this the word is So the formation of a word from a sound associated with what it is named Right, so hot to a girl is an autumn on a pia. Uh, we do now know her real name But if anyone doesn't know about this person God bless you and the internetless life that you lead She is a gal who had a real quick clip Come on tiktok of one of the and this is what I like about the story is like I like that she came out of it fun and fancy free and that This little these little guys who do these men on the street interviews Drive me crazy like some of them are fine But like this particular guy if you go watch the whole video Is so deeply Sauceless like he is rizless He is doing nothing and these girls that he's interviewing are full of personality like They're making it and he's just I'm just like what I don't want you to make any money off of this Like I don't want you to get it because because you're not bringing it But hug two or girls bringing it so within this interview one clip goes viral Now the whole interview has been released and like she's pretty funny throughout all of it But he asks which like how dare you just ask someone this on the street? He said what's one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time And this little gal this this 21-year-old She's just she's dodging and weaving she's been out in Nashville And she's been trying to get out of this interview the whole time when you watch the whole video Like she keeps wandering off and they keep bringing her back And listen, I'm gonna quote it. I this is not something I thought we'd get to on we're obsessed But it's time to get to third base. She says Oh, you gotta give him that fuck to spin on that thing you get me Don't ever say that again You got it because she didn't she says it again They're like laughing They're like so stunned her friend and this interviewer are so stunned that he's like you got a what and she says give him that to us like So uh so visceral So as you can imagine um I don't know exactly why this took off. I feel like what I was seeing You know, then it goes from tick to twitter twitter where like we the millennial see it um And I feel like it's a lot of guys being like Oh, yeah, this is the dream Yeah, exactly. I took off because it was it's peak dude humor of like Girl cute girl saying something vulgar and like sexual and like let's run with it That's where I Like and I think that's the corner of the internet when I first saw and heard of it was like in said corner of like dudes Like yeah up to it. Like that's the guy like that's gonna chick. I want like It's like perfect man impression. She'll be very impressive Like like I like get like, you know, but the same thing with the baby or lando baby. It's like it's Yeah, it's a crazy thing, but it's not like a super original thought like Okay, no see this is where we diverged because now i've watched a lot of hot tour girl content And I do the my main takeaway is like oh She's got a good personality And it's like it's kind of hard to get that across. I I found this with like um You know west on summer house. It's like no one on reality tv comes across as having a good personality They might be like good for reality tv or they might be a villain or they might be a voice of reason but they don't come across as being like funny and This is obviously just a really small clip, but when you watch the fuller videos, she does say a lot of other funny things It's she's a character like she has all these breezes that she says it also reminds me of um this tick-tock trend I've really been enjoying where two people Either like a brother and a sister or like a husband and a wife just two people who know each other really well They put all of their inside jokes on a phone and then they like explain or you know They prompt the other person and they're so random And it's like this kind of intimacy that you feel with another person where you speak your own language And I do feel that this girl is kind of gifted at creating her own language She might betray me, you know, up to a girl She's got she she's 21 She might not have a good personality But like so so basically the reason that I finally was like, okay I need I need to know what's happening here I like I've got to find out more details is because more details emerge for at least a week and a half She was just the video. She was just the four seasons or lando, baby but then she Emerged Everyone was looking for her too. That's what reminded me about it about like the care and read trial is like this This inherent sleuthing behavior of tick-tock Everyone was looking for hop to a girl couldn't really find her and then she like emerges on a z in a zack brian concert in Nashville like he brings her on stage She looks exactly like what you'd imagine like daisy dukes Big-ass cowboy hat and then in this interview she does later. She was like the guy who does my hats I was like of course. She's got a hat guy. She's hop to a girl, but she emerges on I mean what basically like the the biggest like Other than taylor swift. I feel like that brian is like the largest touring artist right now Like he is absolutely huge and he is deeply in what would be the hop to a fan base. Um, and he dates a woman who does podcast at bar stool sports I believe she goes brief by brianna chicken fried brianna chicken fried. I do not know if that is her christian name But it is her podcasting name and she has a podcast called plan brie So then this woman young woman haley is hop to us christian name uh goes on plan brie and All the clips I saw of her were just like pretty like There was just a simplicity to it that I I don't know I just expected her I think to be awful and she what she was like There were all these rumors going around that she was a teacher and she got fired. She goes on this podcast She said I work at a spring factory I guess a factory that makes springs and I was like perfect. That's perfect That's exactly what I want to hear. She works at a spring factory and she quit because You know, she has this newborn fame. She the bells are ringing. She's got a catchphrase. Yeah So like I Did not have the state like I I haven't watched the full man in the street video But yes, I saw the hawk to us been on that thing clip and I thought it was funny and I'm sure she's charming inside video I found her to be kind of flat in the uh plan brie interview and just kind of like like this is it like I don't know and then when she said she was her next plan is to like Do the podcast circuit and like moved l.a. And like our new york or whatever. I was just like, you know, this is Kind of sad. I think it's just like a microcosm of like our youth and thinking like internet fame is like the way to succeed and success and how the figures in which we prop up is just like We could do better like and she could do better than just to like ride this wave of hawk to it Like I don't know like I I Chelsea and this is like this is absolutely no offense to blue collar work But I did just tell you that she works in a spring factory sure like this is her doing better this. I'm sure But like I just it like as I was watching and we'll get into clip later on v saviano and her whole attempt of like wanting to be famous like it It gave me like remnants of of that and just like how us as women and culture like try to latch on to any portion of fame in which we can and I don't know like I respected this young girl that like got off of social media before even talked to it became a thing And was like this isn't for me and then she gets one viral clip and she's like in the game It's just like wait like that's what i'm feeling about it is like People get viral followings for so much less than having a good personality. You know like like there we do live in this influence culture where Almost all of the influence comes from being like a Beauty person or a fashion person or a lifestyle person And this is like this and I again i'm not going to follow her like this is not a She she has it like created an endorsement I'm not fully endorsing hawk to uh as a brand um but There is something about it that's like Take it, you know for all of the reasons that you could take off Nope Like to be clear the phrasing that she has created is uh like like I I think to take off her a catch phrase Is this very like old school youtube form Of virality where like then it gets like remixed and it's like the kimmy schmitt theme song, you know There's like there's something about that that it's like a harkening back to when You didn't have to get like 40 You didn't have to get on every like pr list to get a bunch of lotions and glosions in the mail to like be Of influence like you just kind of had to do something that made people giggle And then you got invited on ellen and like that's what what this is actually reminded me of because in the video She has this friend and then the friend is on the plan brie podcast as well from the parts we've listened to like talking significantly less or at least like significantly less sort of excitedly and it reminds me of um Sophia grace and rosy who like from the ellen show who sang the super bass song and then like came on ellen like every other week for seven years and You know, we're sort of famous. It's like I don't think it's a moral good But I don't think it's a moral bad Do you think if ellen was salon she would she would invite hark to a girl on to spit on that thing? I do not Because there is a certain level of rated r here To talk about it on a random one cast ellen's day time tv But it is funny because calling her hark to a girl Like all sexuality has been sort of removed from from hark to a original phrasing Now these are just words that we use and as you noted With a tiktok that you sent me the original hark to a girl is missy elliot In get your freak on when she says hachim mounds silence when i spit it out So it's the exact same sound Like you know, the best part is like I just want to put like a hock to it Any in every sentence for you to just say it I'm a big fan. I'm bad at puns. I'm great at autumn out of here um And Yeah, it's uh, it's a weird one But I finally went all in this week. I'm glad that I did. I'm glad that I learned about it I don't know if she needs the manager the agent and the legal representation That she now has but I guess we'll see We will see best elect our girl hock to a haley. Um Maybe she never had to do Blue collar work again. Uh, and she did say on the podcast. She was like, yeah I don't want this to be my lasting legacy which you know prop she would She's getting on it. She's getting she's you know taken taking the bull by the horns But it maybe also is trying to lightly distance herself From spitting on that thing as she should She's gonna be hell her life is gonna be hell for the next Can you imagine she has kids and like because she's telling them like yeah My one shining moment was when I was internet famous for saying hock to a spit on that thing like She'll see she's gonna be the president of the United States and by the time her kids are asking her about her legacy She will be like well. I love having the number one podcast on the charts being the president of the United States And Right all started on Broadway Yeah, she's gonna play roxy in chicago. No, it is not. I do not think that these two movies have like the exact same I don't know. I mean it's actually hard for me to look at wicked with like any amount of non-bias um but people are pretty excited for these and it's just a really funny dynamic again of like a deeply feminine movie a pretty Masculine movie. I mean gladiator 2 is like even more Than often heimer, but like this dichotomy and of it's just funny because like yeah, I'm really interested in both They seem like opposite movies, but I can't wait to see both Yeah, I think so it's my understanding that wicked got moved up because they didn't want it to conflict with melana too Which was or is coming out november 27th Um, which was wicked's original uh premiere date. Um, I think it will be pretty pretty similar to to barbin hammer And just because I think they'll both have like really barbinheimer Chelsea Oh barbin hammer barbin hype barbin hype You can do it barbin heimer It will be very similar to barbin heimer um just because I think both movies gladiator 2 and wicked part one will have Just as amazing and interesting media promotion leading up to it that barbie and albin heimer did Uh specifically. I think wicked will be I could see a rivaling barbie's media press tour prior to the the film release like I think it's going to be on that level I feel like albinheimer's was pretty good like I don't know I just feel like barbie's threw it out of the water, but it is it's like it very much is that juxtaposition of the super guy film The fun colorful female film And it was fun with barbin heimer like the way that they benefited from one another like it just brought the hype up for both movies and to the like creators and marketing teams of those movies They leaned into it instead of leaning out of it and I think especially Oppenheimer Could have really leaned out of it and been extremely dull and they didn't like they they went for it and um And it just like it made the whole experience of going to the movies a lot more fun again also there's a real horniness to Actually both of these movies because theater kids are going to be horny for anything and then like the way that You got some characters to meet in wicked Chelsea Turn me on and wicked Um, I don't know maybe the sheer musical ecstasy that you're about to experience but outside of that uh These like stills from gladiator 2 that were released this week Mainly of paul mescau and paedra pascal whose names slant rhyme and that is very challenging for me Yeah, people were so horny just like just like out of control Especially for paedra pascal. I think definitely for paul mesc I think that the marvel about the the paul mescau photos coming out is like How much he looks like a roman got like his face He's like just looks like a roman statue and it's just a really Incredible feat of casting. I was like, I watched the trailer and it looks like fan fiction And then I looked and I read the comments of the trailer and it was like this is a fan Compelated imaginary trailer for glad eight or two And again Chelsea sent us this trailer and they were honest to god clips from normal people in it like clips of paul mescau from like deeply current Things I said also she was like did I'm not sure if this is the right trailer Also, did I watch the right gladiator 2 trailer question mark? I will also quickly give a vulnerable confession which is that the coke zero smell right now is nearly intolerable and I'm doing really bad But something that's making me feel better Is another thing that we're really looking forward to One is me pushing the narrative that it is a Josh Hartnett summer that comes from two things This is I guess spoilers for the bear if you watch the bear and you haven't already watched the new season I feel like that's a show that gets watched pretty quickly even though Literally everyone agrees that it's a mistake that they release it all at once, but If you haven't already watched the new season, I am about to spoil a cameo Which there are a lot of cameos in season three of the bear I was most shocked to see Josh Hartnett's Fine ass waltz right into this show extremely unexpectedly Like so unexpectedly so full spoilers are that skip ahead if you want to he plays richies cousins ex-wife's New fiancee so like we've been hearing about this guy frank For two seasons and how everybody loves him and he's great I don't feel like that they've exactly mentioned that he's one of the most handsome men you've ever seen but it's sort of implied and In this new season richie goes to drop off his daughter and surprise Frank is Josh Hartnett in just like a gorgeous crew neck sweater Being so the opposite of an asshole like being so wonderful It's it's wild and excellent casting So this for me coupled on top of that this week a new trailer was released for trap Which is the new amnite chamelon movie He also the the new trailer is really good. The first trailer Was good this new trailer is great and he also with this amnite chamelon kind of like Did an interview and said that his official pitch for this movie trap starring Josh Hartnett was What if the silence of the lambs happened at a taylor swiff concert To which I say in night chamelon your freaky freaky mind will never never cease to amaze but um i'm i can already tell that i'm overly excited about this movie because In night chamelon is nothing if inconsistent if not inconsistent Uh, and so but it looks really good. It looks really good. It's really intense. It's it's Like serial killer which any movie that deals with a serial killer Has my attention immediately Um, yes, the aspect of it being at a concert and like the high stakes the trailer really captures Like how tense the film seems to be um And yeah, I mean i'm happy to see Josh Hartnett and the in the out front and center again like I I I just pulled up his imdb and he's been like steadily working for a really long time But really the imprint that he has on my mind and will always have in my mind is in pearl harbor And that is the one and only thing that I will ever remember him for Because I did fall in love with him in that movie Um But yeah, I as as danny walker. Oh such a cutie Um, there has never been a dreamer Man then Josh Hartnett boy. I mean he was very young then Josh Hartnett in pearl harbor Which is in this show's short tenure already come up before And again, I think about that movie too and like the lasting image that I have of him is in like a Like an extremely Darkly clean white crew neck t-shirt and the man can just pull off a crew neck like that is That is the cut for him. I know about myself that I cannot wear vnex It's not for me, but I know that Josh Hartnett can wear a crew neck and what's crazy about This trailer and is going to be probably kind of tough about this movie But is a you know, always a good kind of in a thriller like a good needle to thread if you can do it Well, is that despite as far as we know no M night chemo on also super known for twists One of the best twists of all time six cents Who knows like exactly how this movie is going to play out and if there's going to be some wild twist But what you gather from the trailer is that Josh Hartnett is the father of a tween or a teen who has brought his daughter to A tailor swift light concert and he is a serial killer You see him from what we understand checking in on a video camera that shows someone that he seems to have captive And somehow this trailer like almost makes him see and also his handsome handsome face like almost makes him seem like the hero like You're rooting for him to get out of this situation. Yes, but you shouldn't Yeah, I don't know if heroes the right word, but you are definitely rooting for the what seemingly villain um That was the one thing in the trailer that kind of stressed me out was Josh Hartnett being a father to a teenage girl I was like, oh wait, um No, like that's not gonna work for me. I'm surrounded by children and teenage girls and I mean something that m night chemo on like plays with a lot in his movies Both the good and the bad is like is at a lessons and like Childhood, you know, never forget the old beach Well, but it's like it's like the funniest memes on the internet as well as my childhood crush now playing a father Like that to me is the part that like Like it like oh it hurts the soul You know, we talk about paul rud a lot and his incredible aging and I don't think we talk about josh Hartnett enough who just like has aged and Always of aging are beautiful, but josh hartnett's is the most beautiful. He looks so good Yeah, like he's playing a father because he's old enough to play a father, but he's just like he's still so cute How old is he he's 45. Wow. Okay. We talked a few weeks ago about the first two episodes of clipped the fx show following the Donald sterling scandal in the nba with the clippers um And we have now all caught up the show concluded this week I Was really into it. I One thing i'll say is that What got me really into it was the sort of like campiness the soapiness And we've talked about offline that a lot of that comes from the v character who was just In real time when this was happening like too wild to be true But she was and of course You're you you like you you like sports, right? You like You follow the nba Yeah You know who all these people are I do not accept from this scandal and like I started watching this show For one reason and one reason only and that came in episode five and that was to hear v steviano If that's her alias. I think I think her real name is Vanessa. We never really find out but v steviano In her barber walter's interview Be asked what her relationship is to Donald sterling and she notoriously said in a meme That still gets used to this day I mr. Sterling's right hand Oh, man. I miss confidant his best friend his silly rabbit and something that I had forgotten is that The much funnier follow-up Is that she says i'm as confidant his best friend his silly rabbit and barber walter says Is that what he calls you and she simply says no And I had to pause it in that moment and pull up the actual barber walter's video and be like this is not real She did not say that his what his silly rabbit his silly rabbit. Yes. Is that what he calls you? No, and she in fact did with a RINGY smile on her face like I this woman Oh, man. She was a gift at the time. I wasn't appreciative of I did not like I knew of the whole Donald sterling stuff But I wasn't following it with like the interviews and whatnot like I I wish I was on top of it like like God, this one was was insane and she's still like no one told her that right hand arm is not Like an incorrect phrase because in the in the lawsuit She was up on the witness stand and she said it again And I was like no one no one was looking out for you girlfriend like no one told you like Oh, I was doing that as a reference to what she said before because then people giggle, but I'm not positive because like I don't know this show gets Interesting because she is It's like it's harder to dig deeper on her because she's a pretty unknowable Person. Yeah Cleopatra okay, you know, no one is giving emmys for the casting of this show except for the main care like Cleopatra Coleman is excellent casting In this role warren's fish burn is excellent like jackie weaver the the main They they really got it right Edo meal like they really got it right on the top four billing and then they said we're done Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're out of budget and we're out of time. I will say barber walters wasn't too bad Um, that was that was a good one and the finale we got anderson cooper. It took me a minute To realize that it was anderson cooper. I had a feeling but then when they said it. I was like, oh Okay, well, uh, you know he's like, uh They say to him like you have the eyes of a bald eagle and it's like Anderson Cooper, but then when you see the actor's eyes. They're not Of a bald eagle blue. No. Yeah, it wasn't just It's it give them some contacts. That's what I mean like they really like the the effort was not there whatsoever with the casting um Another character like v definitely was My main attraction for this and what kept me coming back for more Um was her antics, but shelly was so interesting as well and it She took me on a roller coaster of hating her Cheering for her thinking that she has seen the light. She is getting out and then hating her again because She is the same. She I I wrote, you know, shelly is weak and she is just as bad as Donald She just has a cute sweet voice and she's a little old lady. So it hides better Like I like she she's just as bad as he is and it was really frustrating in the end When it was like she's with her girlfriend that just really wants her to like Leave Donald and he's been by her side throughout this whole thing and she's like No, you just want maybe miserable and single like you. This is my husband. Sorry. I worked on my marriage I'm like bitch. No Like no Yeah, I mean that was a really interesting journey through six episodes because I think When you and I watched the first two and talked about it We were a little bit like oh, they it feels like they're painting her in a pretty sympathetic art and they to the show's credit did not like she is almost the ultimate villain by the end of the show because I think like Donald Sterling is Such a clown and such a narcissist and so mad on his own power Shelly sterling is like this much more insidious story of the way that like proximity to power is and and the sort of quest for it is both harmful and pathetic because you know It's not real like you're it's not real power and sort of Sacrificing yourself and what you know to be true and right Just to get this proximity to this man who will never respect you. He will never respect you as a person is so Sad and I do think and you know it tells that story with V as well who has less power in this world than even Shelly and she but she's a victim of The own prison that she's created for herself which is also trying to get this proximity to power And you know like someone like Donald sterling Manipulates that at every turn and keeps like giving little you know carrots that like he That he will give you power that he's the only one that can save you He tells her that if she throws herself on this sword if she says that she manipulated The tapes which no one is going to believe this woman knows how to do um That like he'll take care of her for the rest of her life and it's just not true He's a monster and the things that he did and said Are so it's like for you like you were googling the v stuff I was googling the Donald sterling stuff like I just Could not believe it. He gets on an interview with Bobo Anderson Cooper and says that like about magic johnson like Oh horrible. How can we believe him? I like my jaw like my mouth was a game. I was like wait a minute. What like he said that like I it was it did it it felt like It felt too not too good to be true. It felt too bad to be true. Like how it's but like too sick to be real Yeah, and it was and I was like wow like this is this is legit insane and yeah I mean throughout the season we see You know, it's very reminiscent of You know, we talked about the talk to a girl, but just like how People were so thirsty for fame back then like she v was very um The Kardashians were her like guiding light and like wanting to be famous and trying to like mimic their fame It was you know, it was very much in the time of like the hidey and spencer set up paparazzi shoots Which is like what that god that god awful weird rollerblading incident that she had with the um Visor and stuff like that like she was just a very very lost and thirsty and confused young woman um and just like really gripped by the proximity of fame being in los angeles and like thinking that she can make something for herself by doing the bare minimum And it just also like made me really sad just with Knowing that she had these two foster kids to take care of and like in the finale when she like I didn't let like I loved Love use that word loosely. I really enjoyed the first five episodes of the season and just like how quacky and weird it was the finale like really put into perspective how dark and horrible the story really is um and I wanted more v in it But the v that we got in it was like the sad v like her sitting with her lawyer Not able to play her legal bills Like hand telling her like you're going to lose everything you need to figure out how you're going to feed these kids or selling the Ferrari Losing the house Um, which was awful that shelly couldn't just like give the scroll bone, but whatever And yeah, it was just like getting braces getting braces. Yes Getting in a bar fight, which also was like a horrible like racially charged thing like It just it was really really It was sad and I think the finale did a good job if this was their objective of just like really showing like how Dark and sad the story actually is as opposed to how I enjoyed it for the first five episodes as being like comical and zany um But yeah, and like now I like I was googling last night. Where is v saviano? What she up to? How are the boys? She has like no online presence Every article I found has been of since 2014. I haven't seen anything of recent. So I like which I mean I think when you think about what's really dark about this finale and what feels very sad about like this misguided woman is it's like Probably that's good news. You know like separating yourself from social media and a quest for fame Is probably the best and only thing she could have done, but it's also pretty surprising considering Where her head seemed to be and how sort of delusional she seemed to be about the things that were happening around her I just think of that wild smile that she has on her face During the barber walters interview both in real life and on the show because it's like she just kind of doesn't own understand The machine that she so badly wants to be A part of but yeah, but she but she understands parts of it when she goes outside With her turtle in the middle of the night She gets it that's going to make the papers, you know, that's going to get some headlines every time she smacks down that big visor She knows but there's just there's a there's a surface levelness to it That doesn't understand like what really makes Someone take off and I say again that it's personality And there's a there's a great there's a great lack of that there But yeah, this um, you know, I like clips a lot because I prefer much like the way that I watch Drive to survive on Netflix, but I don't actually watch formula one. I prefer to consume my sports as Like pre-packaged reality television or scripted television. So it was really interesting to learn about this story in this way I also now really want to listen to the 30 for 30 podcasts that it's based on which gets a little shout out in the finale but It was a wild ride. Yeah What was that? Uh, I said fuck that guy. Oh, yes. Yes. Yes. Indeed. Fuck that guy who's still alive and kicking which is crazy to me But yeah, I mean clippers that got new ownership. Um, they are about to be in a new new arena Uh, that looks better than the staple center. I love we're not doing hamburgers and hot dogs, but I love that I love like good old american side some potato salad Some um some pasta salads some fruit salads with like and I and i'm very very festive So I think this year i'm going to make a um a Five layer dip with I make it look like the american flag. I did that last year. It was so good And then this year angle from the top or from the side so from the top so like i'll i'll um I'll do like my bean my sour cream my guacamole my salsa And then the cheese and the sour actually sour cream will kind of be on top because sour cream will be like the white stripes And then the cheese will be the red stripes like some yellow like mexican cheese So it's like, you know, you have to be it's like art. You have to see it through a different lens I fear that you're making a different flag No, no, no, no, and then the olives the black olives will be our stars Um, so it's yeah. I'm gonna sleep in i'm gonna sleep outside I'm not gonna share a bed. I'm not gonna do this. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna kiss anybody because I respect for my girl How quickly they change they're weak. They're my God it is so infuriating and me while the girls are in their villa and for some strange reason They give the boys all the hottest girls They get these cute white little teeny bob and snatch little girls and then they give the guys the girls in the original villa Some of the most basic looking men. I'm like, how are they supposed to make a connection with like these horrible looking men I'm flabbergasted. I am So infuriated like these girls that are that were in their couples. They're crying They're thinking about like oh, I hope erin isn't doing this. I don't think erin would kiss anybody I don't think cordell like I hope cordell's not doing this. Meanwhile erin is sucking face with daniela He is all up in there cordell cordell is a god damn fool. I like You guys I can't like this is literally and then we have a night off It's gonna come back on on july 4th, which I will be in the middle of that barbecue watching it on my phone Like I am so addicted to this. Yeah, I've missed a lot of the star wars shows But maybe I could just hop in with a little bit of movie knowledge Yeah, just catch up with ringer verse background and then you'll you'll be right in And then one last thing that i'm just very not obsessed with that I am over and I saw someone else tweet about it And it really made me feel seen so if I can make someone else feel seen I would like to and that is that I keep getting Ads on social media for really cute sets like summer sets and they'll be in like a series of ads You know, like when you get An ad from j crew on instagram you click through and it shows you a dress and it shows you some shorts And it shows you a set and i'll look at a dress that I like and a pair of shoes that I like and a set That I like and when I click on the set it is made for babies And I don't think that's fair to put a babysat in between a bunch of women's clothing And I want the babysat The one that was posted on twitter is like this cute little linen number that has blue berries on it Okay, and i'll be honest a lot of times they're fruit based like the one that I got from j crew Was a shirt with strawberries on it. And so maybe ultimately I just demand more adult clothing With fruit on it, but they've got to stop advertising me these baby clothes that I want because i'm too big Jodi I gotta say like These definitely look like baby clothes. Okay, the blueberry clothes look like baby clothes I will send you some other ones except I know that every time I click on them I'm just gonna get served more baby clothes.
