Did she make an entire extended musical film and then documentary about Her search for the one love and how it's eluded her and how she's a serial monogamist just earlier this year she did so in some ways they're taking a narrative that she Made at least Well, I don't know she spent 20 million dollars off I don't I don't know how much Amazon paid her for it I mean there's another issue Julia. We don't know the accounting on that was it more than 20 million or less than 20 million I'm gonna go with less, but I don't know how Amazon spends money and that's not finances that I have access to right so But it is it is still a little gross and it still feels like Benifer 1.0. Which you know Andrew Scott is a little bit older than the average Festival generation attendee this year But I really wanted to sing him out is having the summer of a lifetime because obviously he was at ara's tour and full force Last week with Phoebe walleridge Have you seen the post of him? They're like walking out to go to the bathroom or going somewhere and then style starts playing and No, no, no, no, we have to go back and like grabs her and rushes her back to the tent So that they can listen to style again funny, which I found very charming then he was photographed with Paul Maskell and And other people but just really where where there is a party and I have felt this way since The beginning of this year when he was like on the campaign He did not ultimately get an Oscar nomination for all of us strangers but like they were working hard and he was in a lot of round tables and a lot of parties and it just kind of seems like the party is where Andrew Scott is and It's also like a party that I would be happy to attend. Yeah, he seems like he's just having a great time in life And also it's funny. He's allegedly one of the torture poets, right? So he's really on it unaffected or and also participating and in all of this So he wanted absolute win for him. He's having his cake and eating it too. I saw a video of Sergio Ronan and Daisy Edgar Jones having a great time together And then I also saw footage of Sergio Ronan with her longtime partner Jack load-in which loud and which who you may know from slow horses and Who I know from the time when he went on Graham Norton to promote soul so horses and talked about his Christmas village Incredible so British and and shared of like an extensive video of the Christmas village But I hadn't had any update. They're pretty private So I hadn't had any updates on them and they are still together which I'm relieved. He's copying and pasting but that's fine. Sure Providing the information for someone else right the email and that was also like a 10 years ago I think probably Tom Cruise is living a post-email life as you know, many It's as many of us could aspire to at this point do you like Do you think he's like texting people a lot like what's he doing on his phone probably reading random shit and probably texting I feel like texting replaces others other stuff. I agree that he's texting, but I think he's like texting production people I think he's like singularly focused on Making mission-impossible movies and or maybe not quick enough. Yeah. I think so So presumably he's like done a lot of that, you know, yeah, that takes time I learned that from the crown, you know, you have to spend a lot of hours in the plane flight training and all that Okay. Well Have you ever been to Glastonbury? No. Oh, no, no, no, never. It's like a muddy middle of the nowhere experience Yeah, but also Sort of iconic. I don't you know, I didn't know whether like it is the the the Britishness of it spoke to you No, I don't really have an interest in concerts like out like it's just always like a hassle unless I of course it's a VIP experience in the city I agree with you. I mean like just like the logistics the getting there. I Also, don't love mud not really a camping person. Oh, yeah I think of Bridget Jones's experience and Bridget Jones's baby and like that's just a total. No. Yes Despite the Patrick the Patrick Dempsey of it all. Well, I thought that they looked they all looked great And like they were having a nice time Also with us like with something like that you could no one can get close like everything's just so far away So there's not really good. Yeah All right And so the tour is definitely not ruined, but I also get it like he has a lot of hits that you know And want to dance to I mean so like I understand like that being the appeal to go if you can also you already have Justin Timberlake The tickets and presumably the resale market isn't like really hot right now Martin Scorsese was in the audience for one of those nights and that sure was that was another thing that Justin Timberlake Did was shout out Martin Scorsese from the stage just trying to like associate himself with anyone Who can help anyone is a winner. Yeah, anyone that like might be good for him to be associated with. Yeah It was I just think this is not this is not the way I agree I don't know what the way is though. Like what should he do now? I mean, I don't know and presumably also he's like relying on this tour for income to You know, I mean he's got to keep going. He can't just be like, okay. I I know that And I don't think he should cancel. I just don't even know like what he does Next like he probably needs to take a break or do some kind of like other revenue generating Projects that don't have him front and center. He probably should just like do another trolls I guess because like that doesn't none of this impacts his ability to be a voice actor in trolls Well, there might be a world or two Right because trolls is probably children, but I think you're on the right track. I I think honestly he should lay low for a bit and then wait for someone to cast him in a movie in a sort of like Perverse or if not like villainous like a a role That everyone alpha dog like a role that you want to see him in that also allows him to Kind of engage with the fact that people have turned on him and maybe try to turn it back into Something good. Yeah, like something that yeah, like a real heel turn Just sort of like well, this is me now right or maybe like a character who just gets like totally screwed over or beat up on and he's like well, this is I've learned that people want to see this, you know, like I needed to go through some sort of like public whatever I I don't know if he would do that, but That probably seems like the best way and then once He has a little more favorite. I mean the other thing is just like musicians of his generation Are having a hard time selling tours, you know, like she also J. Lo see Black keys had to cancel. Yeah, I was about to say the black bros, but it was the black keys. Yeah, there is like if you are not Beyonce level grandfathered in then The tours aren't going as well as yeah Taylor so if the aero's tour would have you believe Right, right. Yeah, and like also it seems like if you don't have like a big feature Yeah, so I don't know what he should do with this is like definitely not it It's also just like not funny and also it's giving people more material to roast more. I have to tell you I I just came from a big pick recording session where there was the acclaim wasn't as universal And also I couldn't tell from the texts that you sent me on friday while watching it Whether it was a pro or con situation for you I was so astounded by some of the appearances in the film that it was distracting But then once I got past it, I was like, well, this is the kind of movie I would like to watch every friday evening Right after work. It's like once you accept the visual language Yes, then I was like, okay fair enough, you know, there's a lot of talk of grocery stores Which is the topic I enjoy love a love a romcom that can that can speak your language You know, it was very meta. I do hope that we get back to a place the romcom's like not having to acknowledge that it's of the genre Like just like let it breathe. But in the meantime Family affair is a great watch. Yeah, this was also meta about How about moviemaking basically, which maybe like everyone just like turned off the podcast and is never gonna watch it But no keep listening suzak afron plays A mega movie star and even like more famous version of himself and a malgable of the chris is her marvel Yes, exactly And joey king is his assistant and aspiring producer filmmaker and nicole kidman is joey king's mother who is Did you want a Pulitzer or just several national book awards? Okay, she wants a Pulitzer So I don't know what for For one of her novels, right? I guess and clear she also writes regularly for vogue and gets Paying clothes in clothes. So I'm I was trying to figure out like who is the real world inspo for nicole kidman's character I don't know like a Jennifer egan or something. Yeah, but no, she's she's ready for vogue. But something like that. Well, it's also no one Vogue doesn't really do that anymore, but like 15 years ago. That's what I did so So this movie like does have a whole subplot about getting movies made which then Makes sort of like their rom-com rom-com meta shoutouts, like make more sense I liked it in some ways it also reminded me of the fall guy another movie that I liked Did you like the fall guy? Did you see the fall guy? I didn't see it, but I do plan to once I can watch it at home as soon as it's available to watch it home It has been well. Do you mean on a streaming network? Yeah without having to pay $25 Well, I'll I'll let you know it has it is controversially been at home Available at home for for many weeks now. They really undercut it's it's theater, right? Well, that's okay I like Zac Efron. I I know that's not controversial, but it's also certainly not cool I thought he was really funny in this. I really like him. He's like a really talented person I think he's like troubled and I hope he's like doing better Yeah, but I like really enjoy watching him and things He was so good in the hairspray movie Like I really thought he was gonna be a descendant and then I think life gotten gotten the way for him But you know what? He moved to Australia and I think he's happy there He was really really good in the iron claw which was supposed to be an awards movie last year And then which was described as little women for boys and as I think like a good description I liked it and he's he's the center of the movie and really good I thought he was really good in this. I also the other like obvious comp here is the idea of you Which is the an Hathaway right? I still haven't watched it. Yeah, so no, it's fine I personally liked this film a lot more than the idea of you Primarily because I think the zach afron performance has a lot more life to it And I'm really happy to hear that. Shut up to zach Yeah, I just really wish him the best like I really hope that he's someone who can find happiness I thought he was funny like there are a lot of jokes at his character's expense. Yeah that he delivers with gusto Yeah, I I wanted many pieces of nicole kiddemann's wardrobe. So oh man The white blazer with the sparkly dress underneath. It was just such a great look She looked fantastic, but she's in this immaculate kitchen And here's the other thing I want to say speaking of this film's visual language is like The geographical logistics did not make a lot of sense But they spent money on most of the interiors In and they had taste and like and I could tell and I appreciated it and I will like really like that house once again, I have some questions about how a novelist even one Of the caliber presented in this film is affording this immaculate Like spanish colonial style palace that is somehow on the water water that like we're Obviously they were using like different exteriors and exteriors and then a set You know, it's not like an actual one house, but where do you think the beach scenes were filmed? Like upper malibu like almost an oxnard, right? Oh, okay.
