The song that we just heard from was a brand new track from a brand new album by Toby Sinclair. The album is called Cry Baby, and the track was called Smoke. Cry Baby came out very recently, just on the 11th, so sometime last week. So very exciting, congrats to Toby Sinclair for your album release, and I hope that you guys go and check it out. Speaking of new music, we have got a lot of new music on this show again. We've got brand new tracks from Brock Geiger. We have a new track from Good Grief, from Stolen Moon, Rebel Girls, and more. Lots of new tracks on this one. Very excited to show it off. This summer has been such a great summer for brand new releases, and I am loving it. We're also gonna be talking about some more events happening this week, and about some festivals that are happening later in the summer. So stay tuned for that. And as I say every single show, I am not able to cover every event that happens in the city because this will just turn into a talk show, and y'all don't want to hear my voice, you want to hear some sweet local tunes. So please do go and follow your favorite artists and venues on social media, as they will have lots of information on there. We're gonna kick things off today with a bit of an indie kind of set. We have a brand new track from Rock Geiger. Rock Geiger. Very indie, very fun, very synth-y with some elements. Very cool time signature, too, actually. And then the next track, we've got a new track from Zoo. Definitely indie rock feel a little bit more on the funky R&B side of things. And yeah, we'll continue straight from there. Thanks for listening so far, and keep that dialogue to CGSW 90.9 FM. We're gonna kick this set off with a brand new track called Steps Taken by Brock Geiger on CGSW 90.9 FM. That is a brand new single. And before that, we heard from Brock Geiger and their brand new single called Steps Taken. Brock Geiger is a artist here in Calgary who has helped out with numerous projects. Yeah, they have been under a few different musician names. They are incredibly talented, and they do a lot of different kind of work around music. So if you ever get the chance to see them play live, you are in for a treat. And of course, I am going to encourage you all to go and stream that new song by Brock Geiger because it is very fun. I'm a bit of a music nerd myself. So when I was listening to that, I was trying to figure out the time signatures in there. And yeah, they're kind of funky. I know that it's not a 4/4 typical beat. It might be. I might be counting it weird. Who knows? But yeah, very fun. And then when we heard from Zoo, that is another brand new track. And Zoo is a relatively newer Calgary band within the past few years or so who have been playing more and more shows recently. And they're a whole lot of fun to listen to as well. So if you are a fan of that kind of indie rock funky kind of vibe, definitely go check out Zoo. Okay, we have some events to talk about. Like I say, every single show and at the beginning of the show, I'm not able to cover every single event. So please go and follow your favorite artists and venues on social media as they will post their events there. Kicking things off. We've got an event tomorrow at the Blox Art Center that is on Thursday. This is Rockin' For Dollars starting at 7.30 pm. $5 and it's all ages. I will never get over how cool that is. That we finally have a Rockin' For Dollars that is all ages. We've got a lot of great all ages music. Recently I've been finding that a lot of people who are all ages would be considered all ages are getting more and more into the music scene. There's more supports for them. There's more exposure for all ages members, which is very exciting. So shout out to Blox Art Center and Rockin' For Dollars for setting that up. But the other thing with Rockin' For Dollars tonight is that it's a divine apprehension takeover. So they're going to be kind of featured tonight along with a bunch of other bands that will be playing. So that's tonight at the Blox Art Center, Rockin' For Dollars, 7.30 pm, $5 all ages. We've got another show happening on Friday at Lupol for 7 pm. Tickets are $15 to $20 and we've got quite a few interesting artists here. And when I say interesting, I'm saying it's more kind of like noise, DIY, experimental. So we've got Oklahoma with an exclamation point from Edmonton. We've got Ratfuck. We have Beaver Fever from Edmonton. Radioactive Vampire Teeth and DJ Silk Road, another one from Edmonton. And that is at Lupol on Friday. Another event for you on Friday is at the Blox Art Center for 8 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance or $14 at the door. And this is another all ages event. We have Dane, 2 liters, Superpunk, Sleepy and the Bugs, and the Pretty Larsen years. Finally, we have a bit of a double show going on at the Palomino on Friday. For the upstairs, it's starting at around 8 pm. Tickets are $15 in advance. We've got Fresh Wax from Montreal, Spek Relists, and CGSW. Happening downstairs at the Palomino at 8 pm. Tickets are also $15 in advance. We have Truant from Vancouver, Illyrian, Snake Pit, Snake Pit, and Witch. A very fun night of Nettle. So those are some events you can head to on Thursday and Friday. We'll go over some more events later on in the show. But for now, we're going to get into our next set. This next set is definitely a bit more of a punk indie rock kind of vibes. Yeah, you'll hear it when you listen to it. But we've got two brand new tracks and then a little bit of an older one, but still a gold one. So make sure you keep that locked to CGSW 90.9 FM. And if you like what you hear today and you want to get more local singles into your ear holes, you can listen to our Spotify playlist. It's called YYC Local Singles. It's on Spotify and there are nearly 700 songs on this playlist. And with this playlist, I try to keep it to about one song per artist. So that means there's nearly 700 different artists from Calgary that you can go and listen to and check out. It covers a bunch of different genres, a bunch of different decades. So we have brand new music, we have music that was made in the 80s. Lots of good stuff on there. That is YYC Local Singles on Spotify. All right, let's kick this next set off with a brand new track from Good Grief "Lose My Head" on local singles, CJSW 90.9 FM. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] That was shades with their brand new track called stray animals. Before that we heard ride from Nicky's self-titled album Nicky and at the very top of the set we heard from lose my head which is a single from Good Grief. The last time Good Grief put out music was a little while ago I think maybe last summer so this is exciting that we got new Good Grief music. Very, very happy to hear that and I believe they might be working on some more stuff so keep your ears out for that. Haven't heard anything new from Nicky lately but I'm sure we'll hear something soon and then shades as another relatively newer Calgary band who has been playing for not too too long but a little bit and they have a few tracks out right now with stray animals being their most recent release. I have some more events for you. All right we're going to start off with shows on Saturday. Saturday we have a show at loophole for eight p.m. tickets are ten dollars we've got John that's JHNN and Vanden Dole. Also happening on Saturday is a show at Congress Coffee for eight p.m. tickets are ten dollars and it's an all ages show we've got music by dysmania and stolen moon. And this particular event is celebrating dysmania's one year anniversary which is super fun. Dysmania has actually put out quite a bit of music for being a pretty new band. I mean their most recent album at least one that I'm looking at right now has about ten tracks or so. So quite a bit of music for being pretty new. Congratulations to Dysmania. We've got another show at the Palomino for eight p.m. tickets are fifteen dollars in advance on Saturday. We've got Liminal Shroud, Kings Rot from Victoria and Niched or Next. I'm so sorry. It's spelled N-E-C-H-T. We have a show at the blocks art center. This is pansy club happening at nine p.m. It's ten dollars or pay what you can and we've got music by Sunflower Dreams, babyteeth.exe or EXE sorry. DJ Darling and DJ Silk Road. And then we have some drag performances from drag artists like Sir Velvet, Dana Hart, Joni Sabbath and more. Last two events I have for you. We have a show at Vernes on Saturday for eight p.m. Tickets are fifteen dollars. We got inhumed from Winnipeg, suburban hypocrites from Winnipeg, joined by locals, harsh and glass cults. Big shout out to a listener for sharing that one. They shared that show detail with me just a few moments ago. And I was excited to share it because it's kind of hard to track down events happening at Vernes sometimes. Finally, the last event I have for you is happening at the Village Brewery on Saturday for eight p.m. Tickets are fifteen dollars in advance or twenty at the door and this is their halfway-ish to New Year's Eve events. I believe they're going to be having some champagne, some other New Year's Eve-ish related events. And they're going to have music from Aruba, Niku, who we just heard from, and Hangman Pencil Shaving Company or Co. Those are the events I have for you this week and of course we have some festivals coming up as well. And we'll talk about that after we get back from this next set. This next set is going to be more of a kind of DIY loud kind of set, if you will. So the first two tracks are very kind of DIY-esque feeling, kind of almost recorded from home feeling. And then we'll hear from another track. That's a little bit more, I don't want to say professional sounding, but a little like more studio sounding, I guess. The way that people record things does not detract from the music at all. In fact, a lot of times it can actually add to the music depending on the genre. So when I'm comparing these different types of recordings, I'm not trying to say that the quality is, you know, less than in some other tracks. Just trying to say that it's kind of going with the vibe of the genre. Alright, with that aside, we're going to kick things off here with a brand new track from Stolen Moon. And this one is featuring their brand new singer's debut. So I hope you guys enjoy. And of course, if you want to get in contact with me, I will be here until 1 p.m. You can hit me up at 403-220-3391. Here is "She Won't Be Taking Me Home" by Stolen Moon. So I want to thank you all for tuning in, listening, texting in. I could not do the show week after week without support from people like you. So thank you. We're going to leave you out with two tracks. We've got a brand new track from Netavore called Breathe. And then we'll play you out with a track from Prisoner called on a Sunday. And that is off of their brand new album called House of Cards. Thanks again for listening. My name is Sammy Parker. I go by they/them pronouns. And I'll see you all same time, different place, next week. Keep that dial locked for more great programming. We've got poser radio coming up next. If you want to get in contact with me outside of radio land, please feel free to do so at my Instagram. That's local singles, CJSW. Otherwise, have a great Wednesday. Here is Breathe by Netavore, CJSW 90.9 FM. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Breathing on my home. Here's the place I have to be. Breathe us together, running it far. God, you cry, it seems.
