(upbeat music) - Good morning, Chicago, and welcome in to the Captain Jay Good morning show on ESPN 1000, and we're streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. With David Kaplan, Jonathan Hood with you. We've got Che, we've got Jay Moore, we've got you here on this Waddle Wednesday. Thanks so much for making us part of your day. We're also on YouTube, YouTube.com. Look for the ESPN Chicago channel. Make sure you hit that subscribe button that way you missed up there for ESPN Chicago and also on Twitch, twitch.tv/ESP1000Chicago. So at 7.28 this morning, my partner here just belched out the side of his gullet, says bears are going to win the division. Take that. As if he's been saying this the entire time. Now usually on the Captain Jay Good morning show, we make our final predictions before the season. However, my strong bears buddy here believes that the bears can win the division. I'll ask you this, before the McCarthy quarterback injury with the Vikings, were you feeling this way? Or did you just come to you this morning at 7.28? You know what, bears are going to win the division. Take that. Good night, Mindy. - It actually came to me late last night. - Tired, huh? - No. (laughing) - Long day. It was a long day, but I came home from coaching the kids, put on hard knocks, had my ninja creamy ice cream. I sat there watching this show and I went, okay, I felt this in 2018, they delivered. I feel it again. I'm feeling this year they're going to win the division. First of all, they're playing a last place schedule. Now again, that means nothing because you could be facing a really good team in their quarterbacks out and they're not good or facing a really bad team in your quarterbacks out and becomes a mountain. But if the health is reasonably good in a very violent sport, I believe they're winning the division. - Let me just say this. If I'm not going to roll with you on that because again, there's growing pain to all of it. Young players, cohesiveness, coaches, everything else. Let me give you the positives of the Chicago Bears because the positives are going to outweigh the negatives. In order for the Bears to achieve the success that you feel that they can do, that means that the wide receivers are positive because you have DJ Moore and Kian Allen. Roman Dunes, they will learn from those two veterans. You have a strong running game in DeAndre Swift and Roshan Johnson Herbert, is he going to be at a ball club? I don't know. You have a very good tight end room with Cole Komet and Gerald Everett and Mercedes Lewis on the team. Even Mr. Carlson getting into the mix. Tommy Sweeney's been able to get some balls as well. So the tight end, just from afar, Kav, just watching the preseason, huh, the tight end is going to be utilized. Which means that you have multiple weapons. Something that we're not used to in Chicago very often. Usually one weapon, maybe two weapons. Four or five? Okay, those are all positives. On the defensive side, would Montes sweat leading the way in the defensive line. From there, Demarcus Walker, I think, is solid. It's good to see Austin Booker and what he's been able to do so far. You still have to determine with that, you're going to get someone from the scrap heap, trade for it, whatever, to try to bolster that defensive line. The strength of the team is a secondary. Followed by the linebackers, because I think that those guys are underrated, but also do the job that needs to be done. The Edwards, the Edmonds, the Sanborns. So those are all positives. But the biggest negative on the team, negative, maybe I shouldn't say, the question mark is the coach. No matter the bet-side manner, no matter what he does to galvanize the room, on the sidelines, in big spots, he has to mature. In year three, he has to. - I agree. - Hartnacht is not to convince me that, you know what? You were flu's much better coach net. Well, you know the elixir to be able to fix questionable coaching, better players. And Ryan Polls has provided that. However, as we documented last year, last couple of seasons, timeouts, time management, certain calls, question marks, does that get better in year three? 'Cause that could tell me something else about how good the Bears can be as well. The head coach. - No question, he has got to be better. And this is the first year he's got a real chance to be a really good coach with a really good team. If he doesn't, if they have a bad season, he's gone. But I think he's cool with that. I think he understands. Hey man, they've given me this team. They've given me this kid. They've given me these weapons. They want to give me every chance to succeed. I think they have a really strong roster. I do being out there and just watching and listening to guys and listening to a couple of veteran players. I was with the other day who just said, dude, the vibe is tremendous here. It's just different. Everything's different. Going and getting Keenan Allen and Roma Dunezane, Caleb Williams and Kevin Bayard comes in a two-time first team all-pro. But again, you've got to be healthy. - Vibes on one of your championships. - But vibes can lead to that process. - Yep, yep. - They can. - Production and wins lead you to that. - But vibe helps lead to wins and production. It's all part of the whole mix. - It's in the mix. It's not on the top of my list though. If you have 53 A-holes that don't like each other, as long as you win, it's fine. As long as it's not-- - That's probably not gonna happen. - I'm saying that, I said if. I said if you had that. When I say the Bears, I said if you had 52 or 53 A-holes that didn't like each other and you still had one common goal to win a championship, I'll be all for it. - But more than any other sport, football, if you had 53 A-holes that didn't like each other, it wouldn't work. I don't care how talented there, it would not work. They have to all be pulling on the same end of the rope. They do. They do. Now again, you're right. You gotta have wins and you gotta have talent, but if you have a bad, bad fit in the room, we saw that when they had Martellis and Brad and Marshall and Jay and they were really tight and then they don't speak and it's just Lance Briggs is like, I'm out, I'm not even dealing with you guys. Like that whole locker room fell apart and there was talent on that team. I listened for you The Positives and the one in question mark, negative question mark was Iberfluze. Followed by what the offensive line looks like. We just talked to Tommy about it just moments ago. - That's fair. - It's not that it's bad, Cap. We've seen it when it was bad now. Under Justin and before that, we, under Jay. - Well think about, so what was the kid that, what was the name of the guy we had that's bringing off the fishy, but Peters, Jason Peters. - Jason Peters. - That he was 40 years old, we had to get him off a fishing boat to start at left tackle. - Yes. - I mean, that's embarrassing. Not bad. This group is not bad. It just, you have to figure out who is it. Who are the five that Caleb and the offense can trust? And I don't know the answer to that yet. - Agreed. - So that's again, again, a big question mark there. - That's why I also think they need to play Saturday. I know we haven't heard from Iberfluze we won't till tomorrow, but that's why I feel like, I gotta see that unit again out there. - As much as I like the defense, Cap, I just need to know who else is gonna rush the passer. As good as it was for the tail end of the season, what does it look like when the bell rings for the first game? It's gotta be more than Montez Sweat. We talked about this in the spring, about how do you win divisions? How do you win games? The gotta be difference makers on your roster. I did this topic years ago, years ago, about how many players, how many key players does it take to win a championship on a football team? It's not 53, 'cause they're not all talent in the same plane. But the question is, like, how many does it take? And it's funny we talk about the Cubs with this, right? I always tell you with the Cubs, Cap, you need to have more stars. Cap, you need to have more difference makers. The Cubs can't get to where they need to be with just guys are kind of the same. Same thing with the Bears, like Jalen Johnson's won, right? Who else is on this team? Like a DJ Moore is second on this team. Different makers. Aquinan Allen, six-time pro bowler. I can't tell you Caleb and Rome till I see it, but I certainly think they're trending in the right direction, for sure. I think their linebacker group is brisker gonna be healthy. He hasn't been practicing, he's been banged up. They think he's going to be Montez Sweat Monster, Absolute Monster. I like their running backs. But again, it's got all play out on the field. So that's also something that I question as well. Is this like, how many difference makers do you have? Again, camaraderie is one thing, and good vibes is one thing. I just need to see how it all gels. And then again, the other thing that's a question mark is this offensive coordinator that the Bears have. They're always in the big spotlight. Even more so than the quarterbacks we've had over the last 10, we know the offensive coordinator's name are in this city. What is the offensive coordinator doing? If the offense falters, it's gonna be his fault. So also, how does that gel, how does that work together? Question marks that negatives. But again, there's more positives and negatives with this team. - Yeah, I'm excited to see how this all plays out because if they get good health, I think that it could be a really, really fun season to cover. - The reason why I think that the Lions have the leg up on the Bears is because of the amount of time that they spent together. We talk about how a team has to gel and the camaraderie of the team, okay? Well, you've seen Dan Campbell bring this team together. We've seen the Gibbs injury, sure. And we kind of thought that maybe they'd take a little bit of a step back, but they're still the strength of the division at this point in time. Absolutely they are. They are, they are. No question, but they're banged up. - Sure, banged up, yeah. - I didn't hear how long Jamir Gibbs will be out for, but I mean, a hamstring is a problem. We saw it hamper Aaron Jones in Green Bay all last year, and he got hurt against the Bears in week one, remember? Running to the end zone, I'm like, that didn't look good. And boom, that ended up sidelining him and slowing him and now he plays for the Vikings. They went, all right, we're done, we're moving on. So the lion, the defensive backfield's banged up. The packer has been healthy. Minnesota just lost their rookie quarterback. I think they lost a defensive back, so they've been bringing guys in to try and look at maybe signing. So there's issues that teams are dealing with. - Shay? - Yeah, I just, I think there's a lot that you're asking from the Lions to keep the mentality that they had last year of not being hunted, but being the hunter, it's the opposite now. You play a first place schedule. The injuries, they've already sustained canceling some joint practices. I think they're actually taking pads off in a few practices because they're so banged up. I get that they're the most talented team in the division. There's the most continuity there. They kept their offensive coordinator. Like everything feels built for them to just run through this, do it again, and be a legitimate Super Bowl team. Getting through the regular season for them to me is actually more difficult than eventually getting through the playoffs will be for them. - Yeah. - 'Cause at that point you'll be battle tested, you'll hopefully be healthy. Asking them to be like a lead through a 17 game season with the way their camp is gone, I think it's a tough thing. - I will just go with the known versus the unknown. Like I think that we said like, we haven't made our official predictions, but we felt like the Lions could take a little bit of a step back, 'cause that's just how it happens, Kev. Like Dan Campbell's got that team going in the right direction, and I just think that they're good, and the Packers will always be a factor. No matter what, every year we go through this, all the Bears can beat the Packers, all the Bears, we bet, okay. And Jordan Love has proven that he belongs. - Yes. - And so because of that infrastructure on that team, there's always a ceiling on their success, the Packers. They may get to the playoffs, but when they get there, they ain't gonna do much. That's just a fact, that's what's been going on lately. They're a good quality regular season team, a good 325 watch in America's Game of the Week. But when it comes to nut cutting time, and the playoffs in a big spot, no, not lately. So that's the thing I'm looking at, with the Bears, I think because it's so new, and because they all have to gel together, you're hoping for a Houston run this year, that they actually make the playoffs. That's the hope. But I just think that the teams that are ahead of them have gelled and been together, and I give them the nod over the Bears at this point in time. - Fair enough, fair enough. But let's see, let it all play out. It's gonna be a fun ride man. - And I still think there's a world where this division gets to the end of the season, and all three teams that are serious, like not counting the Vikings. But I think there's a world where the Lions, Packers, and Bears are all 10 and seven at the end of the year. Split their division games three and three apiece, and it all comes down to tie-breakers. Who outsport who? - I like the idea that comes down to the end. (laughs) That's thrilling, right through the holidays. - And don't forget, Cap, that last game for the Bears. At Lambo, you'll be there. - I might go after their last year. - First time ever, it's a cool environment. I would like to be there again. - I think you might be there. That might means a lot at the end of the year. - That could be for the division title. - Yeah. - I hope it is, that'd be cool. - Bears knock them off. - See that before? - Keep them in Green Bay, can you imagine that? That's, I just think this whole thing is very unique, especially how the schedule lays out. I don't think, Cap, I'm trying to remember, I don't think we've seen a schedule like this. We had to wait this late to be able to get division games. November 11th, I'm sorry, November 17th, against the Packers, Packers Vikings Lions into Thanksgiving. That's amazing. - Let's go. - But before that, you got the Cardinals, and you got the commanders and the Panthers. Huh, if you're rolling in the right direction, those are teams you can knock off. - Wait, I'm looking at the Bears schedule right now. - Yeah. - And how did you say it's, November 17, is the first division game? - Yeah, that's amazing. That is absolutely-- - I just think, I don't think I ever remember division games being that late in the season. - I don't think, we play Arizona there, right? - Yes. - Yeah, it's a road game. - November. - Tennessee, Houston, Indy, Rams, Carolina, Jags, Buy. Washington, Arizona, New England, Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit, Samford, Cisco, Road, at Minnesota, Detroit, Seattle, and Green Bay. - Yeah. - It's an interesting schedule. - And that quirk is why I actually think that the division could shake out with all three teams of 10 wins, because that's not just the Bears facing it. The other teams of the division have this same quirk, where you're gonna have to play each other twice in a month, twice in three weeks. That's more difficult to win both games, so if they all split 'em. - Yeah, Green Bay gets Minnesota early in the season. - But that's it. - Green Bay gets you twice at the end, the Lions get you twice in a month, the Vikings get you twice in a month. It's hard to win both of those games when you see each other that quickly. You can't make the huge changes game to game, or if you open the season against Green Bay and close it against Green Bay. - I'm very excited about exactly what the Bears are gonna look like, 'cause it's all new. Everything that they put into it. It's kinda like that car that's been sitting in the garage for a long time, that muscle car. It's like, ah, it's just been sitting there, the tarp's over it. You know what, if you put a nice paint job on it and put a nice motor in it, kinda modernize it, oh God, look at it. That's what the Bears are. The Bears with that old car, that old gelopy, has been sitting in the garage all these years. And you know what Ryan Poles did? I'm gonna clean this thing up, put a nice paint job on it, new engine. (imitates engine revving) Oh man, it's moving now, look at that. It feels fresh, it feels new. - Yep, they call it Victory Auto Records. (laughing) - Is that what they did? - Took the old engine away, donated it to cars for kids, let's go, as hell did they did for the Victory Auto Records? - That old car is worth money. Call Victory Auto Records right now. - Be good. - It's 6.0, 2004, quote. - Is that the number? - Victory will buy, no matter what condition your car is in. - I'm a really good memory of phone numbers. Victory Auto Records, 8.6.0, 2000, you said? - I think so. Victory. - Well, they changed it. - Auto, right. - You know, they kept that same commercial from like the 70s through the 90s, I think. - Yeah, and it was Dean Richards. - Dean Richards. - A long time voice of it. - Yeah, for decades. (laughing) - Victory Auto Records, 3.1, 2.3, 3.2, ESPN, 3.3, 2.3, 7.7, 6.0, phone number. Are you with cap, right? Do you believe that the bears will win the division? So we're talking about it, the pros and cons of it. You know, not pushing you to the side cap. I'm just like anything else. I weigh it by putting it on the yellow pad, you know, and just write down the positive and negatives. And the positives are question marks. And there's more positives than question marks on the team. Now, it's about competing. Let's see. - Let's see. - They got talent on the roster. Let's see if we can do it. - All right, we will take your phone calls coming up next. I look at the vibe. We've been up at camp. I spent time with a couple of players the other day with no interviews, nothing. Just talking to two veteran players for better part of an hour each and both guys. Dude, it's different around here. I'm telling you, we got a really, really good football team. It's got to stay healthy and in listening to them point out different things about the roster, about the chemistry, the makeup, the vibe in the room. Caleb and how hard he works. And I win. I'm in. Let's go. I'm in. - Yeah. - It's like watching Caleb the other day. - No, and again, we had Mitch. We had Jay, Jay had his faults. Mitch wasn't good enough. Justin, he's fine. He's fine. Not good enough. Chasey greatness. And we may, may have found it at the position. - 312332-3776 is our telephone number. Let's hear the full line to talk to you. First down guy is in Gurney and he's with us on cap and J-Hoodles. Talk Bears first down. - Good morning, gentlemen. - What's up? - Good, Dallas. - Well, they win the division. Everything has to fall in the place. And I think Cap said one thing about health. But the NFL had set up the schedule for the Bears to succeed if everything goes right. And we looked through rules, colored glasses. They don't play a division team until what we can, lab, or whatever it is. - Yeah, November 17. - Yeah, Caleb Williams is going to improve on every snappy take so we can agree to that, right? He's a rookie and he's going to improve the lot. If he's got the Green Bay Packers on opening night, like we did last year, opening day, and he gets crushed, that just sets him back. If the Detroit Lions come in and kill us, although we beat them twice last year, although I know he blew one, but that was two wins. You've got to be confident. Anyways, the deal is, as this gives him an opportunity to improve as he gets to those big games in the division. And most importantly, health. If the Bears stay healthy, they have a chance. With 10 weeks of not playing the division, maybe Green Bay, maybe Detroit don't stay healthy. So it gives the Bears an opportunity. But everything has to fall into place. And obviously watching hard knocks, the way I tell you what, you're drinking the Kool-Aid. You know, so that's my view. I just think the NFL set it up where the Bears have a better chance with this type of schedule. - I don't disagree with you. I do not disagree. They have a chance. Again, Green Bay has a proven commodity at quarterback who they just paid a fortune to, who's a really good player. They got a guy in the middle of their defensive line at Kenny Clark, who they just paid, who's a monster. He's a game wrecker. They just, I'm with first down guy. Everything is setting up. They got execute. - Downtown Dean on Captain Jay Harley's early. - Dean, good morning. - Hey guys, you know, I got to text the other night from my one of my favorite Bears ever, David Terrell, D.T. Shout out to David Terrell. - He still lives in the Chicago area. - And you know guys, I love ball. You know why I love ball? Because that's what living is. They're six inches in front of your face. - Yes, I wanted to tell you guys too. I heard Shea talking about this wind total for the Eagles. I think that's going to go over. I don't know so much about that. But the main reason I called. - Yes, sir. - Was because I think it's bizarre that there wasn't more talk after Saturday. Like I didn't see anything from Caleb that made me think, oh, he looks rusty. I need to see more from Caleb. But the fact that Silverman and Cap are the only two people at the studios that are insisting on seeing more of him makes me feel like it might not be a bad idea just to shut him down completely until week one. So I wanted to see what you guys thought about that. - Yeah. - Right there. - Hey dad, I disagree with you. I believe he needs work. He is a rookie. I'm not telling you he should play, you know, all four quarters. But you're telling me two drives? Practicing your cadence, practicing calling plays. This is not the Lincoln-Riley system. This is the NFL now. I would like to see him out there for a couple of drives. - Yes, of course he needs a couple of drives. - And a rookie with me? Are you okay? - Yes, yes, no. No, we're on the same page. - Yeah. - Because I've seen it all before, Cap, regarding how you're supposed to handle rookies. You have to have them out there so we can get a feeling of the offensive play calls that's coming into his helmet, the cadence. This is all new to him. It doesn't have four placards up there where he says, oh, egg, chicken, beef, Fred Flintstone. I'll take the Flintstone play. It doesn't have, that's not on that sideline. You gotta be able to know those plays and call it. And also be it will be accurate. And we saw a lot of that in the game against Buffalo. So no, he should play if he can't play another series, an extra series against Cincinnati coming up on Saturday. I'm totally fine with that. - Right, sure, he needs that time. I agree, 100%. - Braxton Jones on it, the starters are going to play Saturday. - I have no call on that, I-- - All right, so Braxton Jones. - Wow. - No idea. I think the bears are gonna win the division and earn a kick green bay in the very last game out of the playoffs. - Oh, that would be it. - There would be nothing cooler other than winning the Super Bowl to see them beat Green Bay and Green Bay Packers have to go home. - Oh my God. - Robert, can I ask you, we haven't talked about this with you. So you are in the area of Green Bay, correct? Okay, so how do you deal with it? 'Cause you call us every now and then to talk to us about the bears. What about your neighbors or people that you are around that are pack of fans? How do you handle that? - I went to Auto Zone and the guy's like, he looked at me, he's like, I'm a bear fan. I'm like, yeah. He's like, well, I'm kind of scared of you because you guys got a good quarterback now, in the tail of Williams. So they're kind of scared because they're a new team. Green Bay is a new defensive coordinator now. They don't have the other guy. And we have a different quarterback, different scheme. So how can you defend that offense with that three-headed monsters and DJ Moore, Ken Allen, and Roma do things? 'Cause one of them is gonna get open and you got swift in the back. There's no, it's gonna be hard to defend them. That's just me because, well, you're gonna double DJ and 19 Allen and Swift and call Command C, all of them are gonna be open. - So the people around you are afraid of the bears in Green Bay, you're saying? - Yes, I'm not scared of Jordan law because it was only one fluke season. - Oh, okay. - He's a pretty good player, kid. - He is, I'll give him that, but this is year two. Now people have paper on them and now they know how to defend them. And you got Christian Watson that is popping down. He has a hamstring. You're not gonna see him for about four weeks. And you got the other three receivers. Now you don't have Aaron Jones no more. You don't have to worry about. And he's taking your ochre. He's not Aaron Jones now. - I understand. - So that whole team is a little bit different. - All right. And thank you, Robert. We appreciate the call, man. - Hey, by the way, a sidebar, may I approach? - Yes, brought you back and had a law through one, two, six million for the great holiday. - Some of my ball. - So you know who else was on CBS SportsNet? He said, "You're a friend, Aaron Rodgers." - Yeah. - He was on Boomer and Geo. - I heard that he was. - He was affable. Actually, it was a good interview. I saw the majority of it because they did ask you about the new book that's gonna be on Aaron Rodgers family. And he answered the question. 'Cause you know, Aaron and his family are somewhat estranged. You're familiar with this? - Yes. I thought he tried to reconcile a bit, but I don't think that they are exceptionally close. - He learned some stuff in this book about his grandfather, who was in World War I, if I'm not mistaken, like a fighter that died in the war. He learned stuff about his own family through that book. But of course, there was some conversations about, it's funny, he's a jet, but still has some thoughts about Caleb Williams in the NFC North. - Some of the owners, I don't understand, I don't think they realize when they're at a rebuild and when they're actually went now. That's what's gonna mention about Chicago. 'Cause I feel like everybody's going, oh, it's a win now team, you know? But you have a rookie quarterback, like it takes some time. I hope it doesn't, 'cause I like Caleb, but it takes time for places and it takes time to change culture. - That is true, and that's right. He's not being a bear's hater when he says that, that's real perspective. - Correct, he is not being a bear's hater at all. He is being realistic and it goes right in line with Nick Saban in episode one of Hard Knocks when he said, "This kid you've got almost impossible "to live up to the expectations and to use," as he said to Iberfus, your word, development. It's all about development. - Now, the hope is, just a broad statement, Cap. The hope is that the development is a short learning curve for Caleb Williams based on the roster that they've given them, the offensive weapons they've given them. That's the hope. - When you look at the tight end room, come at Everett, Mercedes Lewis, whoever it says is the leader in the room, the big dog, he's the guy. And then you have DeAndre Swift, Roshan Johnson, Khalil Herbert, perhaps the kid who's going off to med school, Wheeler, maybe he makes the team. Vailous Jones is back, you got a lot of speed. Then you go to the wide receiver room and you got maybe the best three-headed monster in football. Name me a team that has three guys like we've got. And then you got Caleb. It's gonna be cool. - And Vailous Jones. - I already said. - Oh, well, Vailous Jones rained the football, yes. That might push out an Ian Wheeler, if they like him that much. Javell Jones said on hard knocks, he's like, "Hey man, I'm just starting to run the football this week." - Well, he said, "I've been here three days." - Right? - Like, well, he came off as likable in there. - Yes, yes, I think he surprised. I think like, "Oh, so I'm not gonna be a receiver." Okay, well, you know, there was one formal special teams, but then he got it. He picked it up and was able to run the football. - Right, they said the wind in Buffalo was stupid difficult, but you got to secure the ball, man. - This is all interesting. All of this cap and no Colin Johnson. - He's banged up. - Yeah. - So hopefully he's back. The darling of episode one. - Correct. - Push to the side because of injury now. - Yeah, he and the Canadian Eagle push to the side. - Yes. And please give us more Austin Reed. All right, coming up, we will. - I mean, they'll just say, "Cap, come on now." - He may make the team and Ripon gets cut. - What do you mean? - They may put him in the emergency quarterback role on the practice squad. He may be a practice squad guy. Well, maybe someone will pick up Brett Ripon based on how he's played. - Yeah, he's been around six years. - Yeah, maybe someone will. He's very good. We have one and two solidified, for sure, for sure. I love that Beijing's the backup for this team. - Let's go. - Let's see what happens. - Let's go, man. - A very unusual animal story is coming up next as we do our news kicker at the end of the story here. - Yes, and it will be an in studio animal story guest. - Oh, will it? - Yes. - All right, we'll be right back with that story, right here on ESPN. - Captain Jay Hood are back. - And you know this, man. - Chicago's home for sports. - ESPN Chicago. - Now time for the Captain Jay Hood cut of the day. - Brought to you by Chicago Cut. - Stay cut. - Okay, more. - Yes, it's boring, but it's a sport. - Oh! - Whatever. - It's not boring. - Okay, then you're boring. - All right, cut. - DJ Moore thing, going to the ice cream museum. I didn't even know we had an ice cream museum, but where is it? - Not everybody, NBC Tower. - It is? - In that area, yeah. - Oh, nice. - Side bar man approach on the ice cream. - Brought to you by Aiken Law. - Three, one, two, six million for the great Howard Aiken. - It's on my ball. - Who in the F asked for hot dog flavored ice cream? - Well, wait, was the ice cream hot dog flavored or just shit like a hot dog? - No, it was hot. It was a hot dog flavor. - Hot bun hot dog flavored with relish and mustard on it. - And he didn't want to say it was nasty, but you can see his face. - The look on DJ Moore's face, that thing. - Phew, you know that was gross. - Yeah, just like no thanks. - I want to see what the ice cream is like, I really do. - I think we should do it as a show. I think the four of us should go over to the ice cream museum and get the ice cream flavored or hot dog flavored ice cream. - Oh, man. - And that's two Americas there. I'm not doing that, that's ridiculous. I mean, I mean, honest to God, man, you know, there is a separation of church and state, or in this case, the separation of ice cream and hot dog cap. Come on now, both at the same time. If I eat that, I will have the same reaction as DJ Moore's daughter. Exactly. (laughing) - And get it all, folks. - The cap and j-shirt cut of the day. - Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my. What's going on today in the animal kingdom? Ships throwing feces, wild boars snacking on faces. Very boy. Cougar on the loose. - Yes, sir. - Perhaps some horny animals humpy. Let's find out together. Animals, youries on Cap and Jingle on the yester than 1,000. - Time for an animal story. Here on the Cap and Jhood Morning Show, Uncle Capy, what do we have? - We have an in-studio animal story guest by the name of Tracy Butler, who is sitting in her, I think like a patio room. - Well, I was in the kitchen looking out at the patio. - The patio, and then what happened? - So we have a screened-in porch, and I'm in the kitchen, and I was, I had my phone in my hand 'cause I was texting my parents, I certainly wasn't cooking, but all of a sudden, I see something-- - You don't cook? - I hate to cook. - Oh, wow. - I hate, I'm in a terrible cook. That's a story for another day. My brothers are gonna write a book on all my terrible cooking. Anyway, so I'm getting ready to text my parents, and all of a sudden, I see this wild flapping all over the screened-in porch, and there's something going crazy, and so I scream for my husband. He comes running out, the dogs are going crazy, the two dogs, it's a hawk, and it bursts through one of the screens on the screened-in porch, and I was so scared it was gonna get hurt 'cause we had this giant cactus out there, and so I'm getting my phone ready to take pictures, and Michael yells at me, "We don't have time for pictures." I'm like, "I have to take pictures." This is insane, right? - I'm a news person. - I agree. So he's like, "Get the dogs in the crate." So I'm trying to wrangle these two dogs, get them in the crates, yelling at them. He opens the door from the kitchen outside to the porch and leans over the hawk, reaches for the doorknob, pushes the screen door out, and the hawk flies away. But the hawk had to say something before you let him loose. I'm sure he said, "Gavin sheets is the real deal, yes!" - Exactly. - That's me. - I think that's exactly what he said, sure. - Get me another vodka. - Let me tell you about greatest science war. Now, that's a good baseball man, Tracy Butler, yes. David, let me go, let me go, yes. - I think he said, "I certainly didn't come to the kitchen for this food." - Is he injured the hawk? - Well, that's what I was worried about 'cause we have this giant cactus out there, but when Michael opened the door, and it was like, if you see the pictures, it looks like the hawk is waiting for the door to be opened. - Open the door, yes. - Hell yeah, let me out of here. - And he flew away, he flew right away, but so now we have a big hole in the string. But like, who do you call? Like, if he was hurt, who do I call? - Who do you call, J-Moor? - Hawk busters. (all laughing) - They could just call animal control. - I know, but what they have gotten there really quickly. - Probably not. - I wouldn't have to have this hawk out of my porch for who knows how long. - I'm just gonna tell you, Tracy, I just come through your door to tell you that Brooks Baldwin's gonna be a good player. Scrappy, yes. - We've got a Lexi. - Yes, hell yeah. Now let me out of here. - So no, we got Gavin Sheets. - We don't need him, we got Gavin Sheets. Stronger left side. Rigby feel I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what. - One of piece of garbage that place is. My God, let's take a grease pee up my. All right, here we go. We got a deal breakers Thursday tomorrow, Cap. - Glad the hawk survives, you're cooking. - Go Hawks. - So long everybody. - Take that from Chicago.
