Last weekend, women supporting women provided a slice of health, happiness and home to the people of Carmel, Indiana. Two sisters, Gretchen and Heidi, invited a mother and daughter, Kiki, myself, and my daughter Sophia, to spotlight the superfood of the agents, Kefi Life extra virgin olive oil, and who's your sister's vintage and timeless boutique shop. Huge success. People loved the combination, vintage, ancient, paired beautifully for a day of shopping home gifts and olive oil. Home gifts, olive oil, each has their own characteristic, accenting, or improving a house to become home. But here's the question, what exactly makes a house a home? Answer the things you find inside, beginning with the people and their favorite stuff. The people of a home do best when they wake up and retire at night to a peaceful and personal space which nourishes the mind, the body, and the spirit, the whole person. Each space is filled with personal and custom things resembling a lifestyle which will energize yet soothes and comfort. Things like pictures of family and friends, aromatic candles to make the room smell yummy, comfy furniture to relax on, clean linens, organized cabinets, music, of course, music can change in mood or make you happy. Green plants for oxygen, I like religious or spiritual objects to center and keep happy and distressed. Vacation memories, yes, you want to plan your next one. The memories will simulate that action. You will want some favorite throws or pillows, paintings, thoughtfully, and well-stocked bathroom and kitchen and so much more. Pretty much, home is you. Whatever makes you and yours happy, secure, and vibrant, fill up on these things. Who's your sister had plenty of items which could enhance a home? You wouldn't believe what I got, so many really cool things, unique vintage, one of which was this big giant cherry bowl, salad bowl. You could fit salad for probably for 15 to 20 people. You can toss the salad. Just a really practical item that is very attractive on a counter and it is vintage and I just cannot wait to put it to use at my next party. I also got some napkin rings which are brass, they're understated, they're wide enough to put a really cool napkin in there or a wide cloth napkin and it will look good on any table. You could find some really unique things at who's your sister. These are happy and useful items which make a house a home because I personally like to cook. I also adore entertaining. One of my goals, I don't know if I've shared this with you before, is to learn how to set the ultimate and most beautiful dining room table so that I can fill it with the most beautiful and delicious meal and seat the most wonderful friends there to enjoy all of it for an evening that will stay with us and the people that are my guests, stay with us forever. It will be sort of like the indelible kefi meal at the most gorgeous table. In Greek we call this, or I do, philoxynia, philoxynia, friend of the stranger, but in general terms, it means hospitality and we've talked about this before on kefi life. My home is a philoxynia hospitality home, therefore I will always fill it with lots of giving and nourishing items. Friends, have you taken the time to make your house a home? It's never too late and keep in mind it will be a work in progress. Take myself, for example, I'm constantly updating, modifying and clearing out my home to match the season of life that my family and I are in at the time. The home should be the treasure chest of living and I didn't make that up. That's according to Le Corbusier. After small, create a home which is filled with love, good people, and things that nourish all of you. In the meantime, may you be all like Allah all as well in your humble abode.
