Yesa, welcome to the Kefi Life Podcast. My name is Kiki Vail and I'll be your guide to creating a life of Ola Kala all as well. You can look forward to interviews, stories, essential self-care strategies, recipes and actionable take-away Ola Kala moments. This is going to be so much fun. Let's get going. Come in, Alexie, for today is Valitza, Valitza or Sukaze. Valitza, get one that is lightweight. Avoid the weight of the Sukaze adding to the inside contents. I used to carry heavy Sukazes because I thought that they were durable and maybe they were, but truth be told, there are Valitzas that are made durable and sturdy and lightweight, i.e. the soft side carry-on spinner sold a target. Friends, this travel season travel light with a smart of Valitza. Alleolado, olive oil, has been celebrated in the civilized world for millennia, nearly eternal. The oil of this fruit has been more than just food to the cultures of the Mediterranean region. It's been medicinal, ceremonial, sacramental and the foundation of great wealth and power. It is safe to say that olive oil is the ethos, the essence of Greek culinary culture. Today, the prices and life-giving ingredients of this liquid gold can be delivered to you when you purchase your premium bottle of Cephalife extra virgin olive oil from the region my parents were born, the Peloponnese. The coveted Godor Nicki olive is extensively cultivated here in the southern part of Greece, which offers the unique microclimate needed to grow a fruit netting the utmost nutrient value for extra virgin olive oil. Cephalife extra virgin olive oil, a boundless amount of value high in antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties linked to good mood and improved mental health. Get your bottle of wellness today when you visit Cephalife.com. Yamas, and welcome back to the Cephalife Podcast. This is episode 107D. It's Kiki Kefi, and I always like to start off by saying, "Thank you, Efakaristopoye." And the reason is, is because you could be doing anything with your time right now. You could be reading, you could be listening to another episode, you could be whatever you're doing. I want to thank you for just selecting Cephalife to listen and hopefully learn and be inspired and be educator. Today, we're talking about traveling because you know why? I'm getting ready for a big excursion and I can't wait and I learned something that's going to help me along on my trip and I want to share it with you. But first, let's talk about the activity of traveling itself. You know, it's almost like talking with those of other centuries. The ancients, those before us, they hold many wisdoms and being on their land and the place of a new culture could be invigorating to the mind, the body, and the soul. You know what I call this friend, Olekala. You become all is well when you have this type of experience in all three persons. We know that the travel can be a trek to new and undiscovered territories, but it can also be a passage to your roots and soon I will journey to a place which is part of my ethos and DNA, a place familiar to me in every single way. I will go home, so to speak, home to my parents' childhood, home that is the lifestyle for a beautiful life and bodying a culture that spans millennia. I will go to Greece. Yes, Greece, Elava, the pan-ultimate Homeric experience, one which sets the stage for seeking knowledge, wisdom, and plenty of adventure. And when you put that all together, it becomes my panacea. Have you been to Elava? No worries. I will take you with me in my spirit with my keffi, photos, and the blogs that I will be writing while I'm overseas. However, you too may be going somewhere cool this summer. Whatever your jwada viv for adventure is, make certain to have your plans and packing organized so that you can copy every DM. Let's get down to business. You'll need to create an organized travel plan to seize moments. Support your keffi voyage so that it will be full of memorable experiences instead of one of confusion due to lack of preparation. You know I've said it before, I'll say it again, proper preparation prevents poor performance. If your basic necessities are intact, you will look the part to seize those moments without hassle. Remember, your polished appearance will help you feel confident and current. Basic Necessity, numitor, or no, pack efficiently and thoughtfully. Michael Bada and dear friend Sarah works in the fashion industry and she is skilled at the organization of packing. She understands efficiency and I first realized this when I traveled with her to Arizona a while back, we were there for four days and I looked at her luggage and all the things in her suitcase. I'm like, oh my God, how did you fit all that in there and how is it so organized? She taught me that packing must be simple, categorized and minimal. Oh my God, help me with this. I want to take my entire closet because I never know what I'm going to wear. I want to select different things, but if you're not, Sarah has my back and thus I have your back. Here is the packing strategy that Sarah shared with me. She taught me and she also showed some other tips to me that will liberate your mind and mind and allow us to go and see the world fuss free. Let's call this little part of the episode, Travel Packing Essentials and we begin with clothes. Yes, clothes, pack and sets. In other words, pack outfits. I never used to do this before. Each outfit should have a top, bottom shoes and undergarments. Consider your outfits to be in neutral colors, which you can easily mix and match. Think tan, white, black, navy, et cetera. Monochrome or neutral color palettes will add sophistication to casual outfits. Create the number of outfits according to the number of days you're traveling. Easy peasy. Pack two gorgeous evening outfits. These can be repeated very easily. Now, if your trip is longer than three or four days, like let's say you're going to be gone for three or four weeks, pack three or four gorgeous polished outfits. There you go. Shoes. Okay, come on. You'll need one pair of walking shoes and an additional pair of dress shoes or two to pair with your neutral colored outfits, whether it be evening wear or going to a fancy lunch, et cetera. Pack your items in packing cubes or giant zip-lock bags. That's right. You can get these at Amazon or TJ Maxx or Marshalls. You're called packing cubes or giant zip-lock bags, and you can organize your outfits under garment socks, workout gear, et cetera, with these cubes or bags. Each item will have a category, so your workout stuff will go together, your socks and underwear will go together, your tops will go together, or your outfits can go together. Basically, you're going to shrink down these zip-lock bags or you're going to use a packing cubes. You're going to have everything put in one place or you're just going to grab and go. But the nice thing is that you can fit more in your suitcase, not that you want to take more, but you'll be able to take your sets in one suitcase. Compression socks, I take these because when I take long flights, I don't want to explode my varicose veins and I want to keep my blood flow moving in the right direction for my legs. Of course, when you are on the airplane, you will get up and just walk a few times up and down the aisles, but compression socks don't have to be those old fancy ones from the old and days for the older generation. They can be the lightweight ones. Even the athletes use them, just keep that blood flowing. Next would be hanging toiletries bag. That's right, so instead of something that just sits on the counter, get something that hangs on a door, they have like these little pouches are on this hanging bag and they have zippers on them and each little pouch in the hanging toilet bag will allow you to separate your toiletries and you don't have to use counter space when you're traveling to a hotel or someone's home or an Airbnb or anything like that, plus you get everything organized and it's on your door and you just unzip, grab, use, put it back, unzip, voila. Next, this is a big one, water bottle with a filter. If you fill your bottle with water from a sink, the filter will remove the toxins. So this way you don't have to like constantly be buying water bottles. You can just reuse your bottle with a filter and just dump in some water from the sink and then it's really easy, it's fast, it's cheap and you're getting rid of all those toxins that can give your body harm. Now why is this one important? Because traveling will dehydrate you and the best thing you can consistently do is to drink plenty of water throughout your travels because dehydration will cause fatigue, hunger and cramping. Make sure you hydrate, the water bottle with a filter will make it super easy for you. Next, you probably already know this, get your proper adapters and chargers and of course a cool pair of shades or sunglasses. I also like to add that your itinerary, your travel plans and your emergency numbers should all be documented in one place, I put them in my notes and my phone, simple. What's really easy, I did this when I went to Israel a couple of years ago, is you can wear a neck wallet, it's a wallet with a rope around the wallet and you just throw it over your neck, you can carry your personal ID, your passport, your phone, your money, travel day, paperwork, et cetera and that way you're not searching through and like rummaging through a like a carry-on bag or your purse, it's just right there around your neck and it's just very handy and efficient. Finally, check your currencies before you leave and plan your budget, just keep yourself on a little budget, keep your money in your neck wallet and your carry-on one time, oh this was an error, I put my money in my suitcase that went on the airplane and I was sweating bullets the whole way to my next destination, fortunately the bag handlers were honest, they didn't get into my suitcase, all my money was there, so yay, but keep your money on your person, just listen, your preparation before the trip begins will allow your plans to carry out and it's going to be easy to partake in a spontaneous activity because the necessities will be at your fingertips. As in Kefi, let's pack our bags now because as Hans Christian Andersen said, "To travel is to live." See you on the other side of the pond where I'll be living in the moment every single day. In the meantime, looking forward to sending you photos, hugs and feel like your kisses from my epic Odyssey in Greece. Bon voyage, ole cala.
