(upbeat music) - Hey everybody, welcome to show this is Darren Alene. This is a solo episode. We're gonna talk about pets. We're gonna talk about supplements. We're gonna talk about my pets, talk about your pets and how we can best let them live their super life. Now, I've covered some podcasts with Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib, which they are from my estimation, best in class in terms of understanding and committing themselves to the research, the understanding of how pets and dogs can live their greatest life. And I will put the links in the show notes and they wrote, again, we have a, I'll put the links in the show notes to the episode that I had them on, which they cover a ton of this stuff, but also they have a new book out. The first one's called The Forever Dog, a longevity of dogs. The true understanding, kind of like the blue zones of longevity for dogs. And now the new book out, The Forever Dog Life. So again, have this in the show notes. You can get the book on Amazon or the books. And this is really important because it's like, if we are treating our animals and even our children, they're kind of an adoption that we're responsible for them. So they adopt the habits that we're giving to them, right? In this case, food and supplements and the way of life and hopefully not exposing them to fatal conveniences and fragrances and formaldehyde and, you know, as-o-dies and fiery tardons and all of these things, things that I cover in fatal conveniences that if this is in our home, it's in our pets and in our children. So let's dive in because we're going to talk about food. For the pets, we're going to talk about raw. We're going to talk about other unconventional things that, you know, listen, I am a super food guy. I'm a botanical guy. What I feed myself, I'm feeding my dogs that is healthy and safe, right? So what I get, they get. And that's it, that there's just no way around it because they're my fur children, right? I want them to throw. I want them to survive, kick ass and have their super life. So they rely on me and they rely on you. So make sure to like and subscribe and share this episode with your pet, loving friends, neighbors, and family members who may benefit from this episode and the other episodes that I'll link in here with Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib. (gentle music) Welcome to Fatal Conveniences, where we address the things we may be doing in our daily lives that are actually harming us. And in some cases, slowly killing us. Tap water, Teflon, caffeine, blue light, food additives, you name it, we dive into it. We take a critical look at everyday products that really are affecting us and our bodies and the environment and how we can avoid them and find a solution. So let's dive in. (gentle music) Before we dive into today's episode, I want to thank my sponsor, my great friends over at Theresage. I love the pad, the infrared, PMF, red light, photon, gemstone, full spectrum infrared, tens unit, EMF remediation, earth grounding technology. I love these negative ions, I love these pads. I use it every day this morning in my meditations and my journaling, it's just so nice. My back was a little sore from a bunch of work I did over the weekend and bam, I'm telling you what, I feel like a million bucks, I love these things. So if you want to up level your health and adjust an amazing nurturing way, you can work with these PMFs with cellular regeneration, helping damage cells, supporting the body's natural healing responses, you can use the red light therapy without having to go to a special clinic, repairs your body on a cellular level, increasing mitochondria activity, stimulating collagen production, and then there's gemstone technology. And the Therapro also harnesses negative ions that are also happens when you do grounding, which also enhances blood flow, oxygenation and relaxation, come on. Seriously, Darren, you're saying that it happens in one pad that you can buy, yes it is. You can go to Theresage.com and use the code DARRIN, and get 15% off, and you will not be disappointed. This is incredible. So go to Theresage, Darren, D-A-R-I-N, and you get 15% off, Theresage.com. So first question is, what pet food do you give your dog? Is it raw, is food actually better? Well, yes, I feed my dogs. And listen, all the plant-based people and vegan people, there is one study that shows that a dog can live on plants for a period of time, but I chose not to do that. The research for me is 75% raw meat and 25% diversity of vegetables, fruits, things like that. So that's my approach. I don't, you know, I chose to have animals that eat meat. Now listen, I don't feel as humans we need to eat meat because we're a lot more adaptive. So that's why I don't eat meat, but I chose to have animals that do. So I am not gonna impose an idea that doesn't line up to the science around, from my science and the science of the experts that are around me. So please, if you're vegan or plant-based, I know a lot of vegans that feed their dogs similar to me. So just don't need to slather all that stuff. I don't wanna hear about it. I've already done my own research around it and work around it. And I chose to have these animals that I want them to thrive and survive. And so this is how I am going about it. Okay? So I currently have dug into so much vetting of companies. The best one that I have found so far is called Viva Raw. And they are made USDA kitchens. They are 100% human grade and ethically sourced ingredients. Not just the meat, but they are ethically sourced vegetables because they have the mixture of vegetables within their frozen, comes frozen fresh. And then I have a freezer that I stockpile. I have two dogs and they're big and they go through a lot. So I spend a good amount of money on my food for my babies, for sure. They are a company that is dedicated to real whole foods instead of synthetic vitamins. And they look at the balance of that food. And they formulate based on multiple vets and nutrition information and updated understanding of organically sourced, wild-caught, all of that stuff with optimum nutrition in mind for their pets and their products. They are very transparent. They're very open. They're very open to me in my vetting process. I don't take this lightly. So of course me and my team were constantly asking them questions and getting the data and the nutrition information and microbiological information. So they were sharing that stuff. They also share many of that stuff with the public as well. So they visit the farms, they work with the people, they know their farmers, the whole deal. So I'm really happy. I've used other ones like Darwin's and stuff like that for a long time. Chaga grew up most of his life on that. But Viva Raw now and I've got the link in the show notes and they give you a discount. Wasn't even meant to be a plug. I'm just telling you based on what people were asking about my animals and this is what I do. So I've got you a discount. So if you go to my Derynoline marketplace, you will get a discount. How great is that? If you choose to do that for your pets. Again, we're gonna get into a little bit of the ultra process food side of things, but I have covered that in other podcasts. And again, I strongly encourage you to check out episode 154 with Rodney Habib and Dr. Karen Becker, who wrote the books, The Forever Dog and The Forever Dog Life. They are incredible people. Rodney, when Chaga was going through some stuff, Rodney was on speed dial and was taking my every call. Rodney, I am so grateful for you for that and I love you for it. And Dr. Becker, equally for you too, 'cause I know you were sitting right next to him many times. So I am really happy to do that. Plus, I get to share now to you all listening some of the things that I've learned from them and share with you. So it's not just about me having access to them and having them on my podcast. It's now getting to share with all of you the access that I got and I'm gonna share back with you. I will put in the show notes too. I just thought about it, but the way I really started to get at the digestive process of what was going on with Chaga was a company that Rodney put me in touch with called Animal Biome. So you take a poop sample, you send it in, you get a microbiological sample. And that's when we first saw how Chaga wasn't even really up taking his food well at all. So even though I was given him the best food, his microflora was kind of flipped upside down. So we worked to restore all of that stuff. And I spent a lot of time, money, and resources trying to do that. I'm still not quite out of the woods with Chaga. You got exposed to some things and we're getting them back better than ever. But I'm gonna go through some of the other things that I've been doing in the supplement world. So that's what I do. You know, listen, there's a lot of people that I know who have reached out to. They cook their own dog food and I love that. You know, I think that I have chosen to buy it because I can afford it and that I have vetted it so that I could tell you about it. So it's convenient for me, even though I still put other things in it and I will go through that list next, right? So I am not just buying this raw food and throwing it and feeding them. Now, my feeding cycle, let me tell you this, I recently shifted. So I've now taken the position of letting them fast. And so I feed them same amount of calories, but instead of twice a day and they adjusted really quickly. And again, they're two pure German shepherds and they adjusted really quickly to the schedule. I feed them once a day. Probably around four or five o'clock in the afternoon and it seems to be really good for them. And they, like I said, they adjusted really quickly. Okay, so supplements, unconventional supplements. Like some of the things that I do is again, like I've integrated this in my life so I'm gonna share just straight up what I do. And some of these things are like I've had, you know, doctors remotely doing energetics on Chaga. Right, Radionics, Dr. Michael Rankin who also personally helps me, but also has helped Chaga out incredibly. Right, so I've done a lot of remote stuff, them tuning into the energetics using radionics and a guy out of Minnesota. So I use unconventional, I'll do anything. And I've been in this space. So for me, using frequency, quantum healing, like this is all frequency, magnetics. It's also scientific, it's not so woo-woo. So I have gone into a lot of those areas and I've been exposed to a lot of that stuff. Dr. Royal Rife and Tesla stuff and Dr. Holda Clark and a lot of frequency medicine for a long time. So it's not a far step for me to take that on in terms of helping my animals and helping myself, of course too. That's a little bit of the unconventional stuff. The other unconventional stuff that I don't think is that unconventional is I use She legit in the water, probably once a day, so not all their water, but I use monovitality. It's my favorite, they're sourced. Either now that they have their ocean plasma out, I'll put the ocean plasma for this huge amount of incredible, slow-dried ocean minerals, clean tested, but then the She legit is so good for them as well. So ancient Ayurvedic plant ooze from the Himalayas, man. So monovitality, shout out to them again. They're in the show notes, so if you wanna discount, you can go to my Darren's marketplace. There's a reason why I kick some ass and we're continuing to add to the marketplace so that you can benefit from the years of work that I've had in the space and the countless hours that we spend vetting these companies, right? Sometimes you mess up. Sometimes you don't get to see it all. I try to check in many different ways and sometimes I've had to pull people when I've found out other stuff, but I do the very best I can. I check with labs, I check with people doing tests. Third party all the time, I do the best I can to provide you with the information for you to use. So not only can you give your dogs and pets, She legit, and minerals, and I use Redmond salt as well, a pinch in both of their bowls for water because they also need those electrolytes. I use aqua true, it's all filtered water. I add the electrolytes just like for me, I do for them. Redmond salt, incredible. I will get a link to them, I don't currently have one, but I'll get a link and a discount to you for them. I've vetted the hell out of them too in a great way, so they've got a U.S. made, well, U.S. made, U.S. found Utah mine, and they're getting safe, tested, incredible mineral composition from this incredible pink salt from Utah. So Redmond salt quickly went up to my favorite salt. Another great one, oh my God. Amica, medicinal mushrooms, and other blends. They became a fast friend. Again, all of this stuff I add, this is what I do. This is the research I've done. I've had Chaga since he was seven weeks, and he's grown up with the best stuff because that's, and obviously I name my dog Chaga, so he gets medicinal mushrooms, he gets Chaga, he gets turkey tail, he gets lion's mane, he gets shazandra, he gets adaptogens for sure it does. And so Amica, medicinal mushrooms, one of the best human grade quality mushrooms also packaged, created, formulated for dogs. How great is that? So really love them and please support them. They're a small company doing the right thing. I've met them, I've vetted them, I've talked with them. Again, it's very personal to me. When I'm recommending something, it's very personal with a lot of ties of hard work and great people. So support them if you can do it, and if you can afford it and your animals, get the frickin' benefit. So Amica, medicinal mushrooms, I add that to 'em once a day. I have a variety of different formulas that I use. I won't go down that. Raw living spirulina, I consume every day. Raw, I love this company. I'm gonna get involved with them deeper at some point. I don't think I have a discount on the marketplace, but I have plugged them a lot. I think they owe me equity, so. So raw living spirulina, I think you owe me equity at this point. Anyone just kidding, not really, but I'm kidding. So raw living spirulina, I consume, and I give about a tablespoon every day to the dogs, both of 'em. So two tablespoons, I go through three to four jars a month myself, right? So incredible. Raw living spirulina is one of the most nutrient dense food in the world. Omegas, complete proteins, chlorophyll, so chelating principles, detoxification principles, complete proteins, all of the B vitamins, even B12. That's right, in the raw form of spirulina. The raw form, you can't get everything in a dried form. No, it gets neutered, it doesn't work, it gets killed. So that's why I love raw living spirulina. Sprouts, the sprouting company, I give sprouts to my dogs. That's right, incredible antioxidants and fiber. I don't just feed 'em meat, they get a variety of fiber, a variety of fruits and vegetables, and sprouts are such a powerful thing. Sprout 'em myself, check out the sprouting company. I'm involved with that company. I invested with my good friend Doug Evans and Mike Posner a long time ago, years and years ago. And we're out, we're selling best tested seeds on the planet, obviously my favorites is broccoli sprouts with sulphurifane, glucoraffinins, all of these things. Incredible for you, incredible for the planet 'cause it's easy to grow, it's cheap and incredible for your animals. Kemchi, I give Kemchi fermented cabbage, fermented beets to my dogs. It's incredible beneficial pro bacteria, so sprouts and Kemchi. Kemchi is incredible, I give them at least once a day, a big dollop of Kemchi in their food. Fatty 15, so it's not meant for, this product was not meant for, so caveat, it's what I do. Fatty 15 is essential fatty acid that is newly discovered, but is essential. Always been there, we just found out about it, it was through vets from, and I have a whole podcast on it with Dr. Stephanie, it's incredible science. It is biggest discovery since Omega-3 fatty acids. Incredible for mitochondria health, for cell replication, for membrane strength, longevity, you name it, Fatty 15, I give my dogs one of those a day. That's what I do, again, I talked about aquatrue, add the electrolytes, redman salt. Those are some of the main things, may seem like a lot 'cause I explained a lot, but it's not. I got a rhythm and I feed them once a day and they're loaded up full of nutrient density. I love this stuff. The next one, so again, with all of their needs that I just explained and potentially yours, check out, Darren's Marketplace, my partners, as well as vetted companies that we have in there, it's guaranteed that you're gonna get a discount if you go on and try some of these products. So from waking up your feet with Vivo barefoot, I tell you what, I love these shoes, man. I can't get enough of these shoes. If I have to wear shoes, they're Vivo. Anyway, side note that all of these things that I talked about are dear to me and I love them. So the other one, to remind you, animal biome, just go to their website, animal biome, get the dog, kit, get sent to you, get your microbiological test done for your animal and see where they're at. And they'll also give you a readout, easy to read, and then it will give you a path forward, very powerful. Which leads me into my next one. This is highly obviously controversial, but I hate that it is, it's just common sense, but I'm gonna tackle it a little bit. But I'm also gonna divert most of it to Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib. I'm not an expert in dog. It was a question, the question is, should I keep my dogs up to date on their vaccines? It's such a great question. And there was a great YouTube video that Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib already did on whether or not you should keep updating that. And they gave a great analogy. If you check out the YouTube video that I put in the show notes, they lay it out pretty simply and you understand. Number one, if the vaccine was a true vaccine, then it's not like the power of the battery goes down and you need to up it. It's adding to something if it's a vaccine. It's adding to something. So you're adding to something that is already there, potentially. And what I mean by that is there's a new test. Here's the whole thing. Do you need to do an up-to-date vaccine? Not just because they tell you, not just because they pressure you. They have an economic model, period. Here's the cool thing. There's something called a teeter test, T-I-T-T-E-R test. And this can check based on the vaccine if your animal has antibodies. But as antibodies, guess what? You don't need it because it's already protected. It's common sense, man. And then of course, the healthier your animal, the healthier is gonna be period. So let's see these common sense and not just drug our animals. Check out, ask your vet. Can I get a teeter test for this? And then check out Rodney Habib, Dr. Karen Becker's YouTube videos. They got a ton of information. Again, this one, it's in the show notes. So you can check that out. What do you think is the biggest myth or mistake people make with their pet's health? There's so much. I think they think that regular tap water is fine for them 'cause they're dogs. What? Still full of chemicals, still full of PFOS, still full of formaldehyde, or sorry, potentially formaldehyde, fluoride, and other pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, they're mammals, right? They're gonna get affected by those drugs, those endocrine disruptors. Filter your water, give it to your animals. Do not give them tap water. Come on, so common sense with this stuff. The other thing is ultra-processed food. If you're just giving them dry, ultra-processed food, again, in the episode with Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib that I already covered, we get into all of this stuff. Dry food is gonna kill them just like it's killing us. Ultra-processed food. Having hundreds of ingredients coming from all over the place, chemicalized, recreated as pseudo-food, and then we're consuming it and wondering why we feel like shit. Same with the dogs. And also around that, the lack of diversity. So we just give these animals the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. The next thing you know, they're suffering. So those are some of the easy things to do. Give them fresh food every day. And change up, you know, sometimes it's beats. Sometimes it's carrots. Sometimes it's leftover romaine lettuce that'll chop up fine and throw it in there. But I use, I change up the meats. You mean carefully, you don't wanna throw off their digestion, you wanna be smart. But then I'll give them different superfoods, different botanicals, different fiber sources, all of that stuff. And then watch and see how they do it and get your animal biome test. They get nothing from them. But I'm telling you, you gotta know what's going on. Get your teeter test for antibodies, for vaccines. Instead of just saying, stick my animal with vaccines. There's a lot of vaccine injuries with animals. Millions of animals a year based on the stats. Rodney talks about it in a video. So, and also check out their book, Rodney Beebe, Dr. Cameron Becker, The Forever Dog Life recently came out, their second book. Learn about how to be the best pet parent you can. So have you a long, healthy, vibrant life with your animals, 'cause we all love them, okay? So hopefully that's helpful. I've got a lot of the links in the show notes. Go to Darren's marketplace. And we can have thriving pets. And we can live the best life ever. And keep in mind, emotionally they take on stuff from us. So we can talk for days about how to not expect our animals, not to mirror us as well. It's a whole 'nother conversation. But I'll stop there. Remember, be conscious, face things to change things. And then you have agency. You have power. You have more sovereignty. Sovereignty is built one choice at a time, okay? I love you. Thank you, subscribe, like, send it to the other pet parents in the world. And let's create healthy animals, healthy planet, better food, better quality, support companies that are doing the right thing, okay? I love you. - Before we end today's episode, I want to remind you about my Fatal Conveniences book. This is rooted in solutions, but I had to uncover the things that we are doing every day.
