Hello, and welcome to the show, Abidation Sports Talk up, rolling on this Wednesday. He's Vince DiDario. I'm Sean Steyers, Vince is back in school this week. I can almost tell by the look on your face, it's like, "I've been through it already, and it's day one." I know. Well, we did one of those. Look, you've worked with companies long enough that you've been on retreats, and as my dad would call it back in the day, the FFF, the forced family fun. That's what retreats are, you know what I mean? You're forced to talk to people that you probably wouldn't normally talk to, and then you share, and you do this, and you do that. I will say though, and this is way off topic, and I don't care. We have a theme every year. You have a school, you have a theme, whatever, so they're doing a bunch of construction projects at the school. We've got a new football field, a new track, they're building a new athletic center over there with an indoor track and stuff like that, so a lot of construction going on. The theme this year is construction, and it's like building the future, whatever. Today, the entire theme was construction, and our CTE director, the guy that's in charge of the kids that are going to go into the trades or whatever, he's got all these contacts around the area. Last half of the day, all we did was construction stuff. Like I was driving a big old excavator, I was having a, I was like a child in a gigantic sandbox, just moving dirt from one side to the other. They trusted Vince to move dirt around and do whatever, but construction materials and drive the heavy machinery. Yes, the short answer is yes. Actually, here, let me see if I can do this, let me see if I can present something, let me see if I can do this, I don't know if I can, I don't know if you can present your whatever's your, let's just go the entire screen, here we go, and that's my screen, share, and can you see that? Nothing has popped up. Nothing has popped up. No. Okay. Well, never mind then. Okay. I've got a great picture. I'll try to share it out there at some point. It's a hell of a story, Vince. Me and an excavator, just moving, like I had, it was freaking cool. I got my own, you know, hard hat now that's in the car, oh yeah, I'm official. I have a lot more respect for people to do that stuff for a living though. You had me at CTE. Best story I got for today, man. I thought we were going to start talking about concussions there for a second. No, I had safety. I had, I had had safety. So no concussions for me. And yeah, so I spent the day, you know, it was hot out. It's like almost, it's pushing 90 today. And you know, out there in jeans and everything is hot. I got a lot of respect for those guys out there doing that all day long. So weird. I didn't realize it got hot in Northern Indiana. It's wild, isn't it? I mean, because it only gets hot in Texas. Last time I heard. You know? And so, I mean, yeah, but I found out a lot about the new football building because I was talking about the guys that are in charge of building it. Oh, cool. So that was actually pretty cool. Well, that's cool. So get in. You know, at some point. Yeah. All right. It is mailbag day. We're going to be doing mailbag questions here in a minute, a few minutes. Yeah. But we're going to start with the news of the peacock stuff. So if you're coming in, one, hit the like button. We do appreciate it to drop your mailbag question in the chat. We've got a few already. I promised yesterday as well there were, because we were on a time crunch yesterday. Oh, we didn't get to all the we in and we out questions. So I've got, I've got a few that will throw in to the first part of the show, like the mailbag part of the show. I got a couple I repurposed and put into rapid fire as well. So we're going to be getting those, some of those in and what we don't use today will use tomorrow. There it is. So in the meantime, Notre Dame and peacock made the long-awaited announcement today of what has previously only been known as the hard knock style TV series that they're going to be doing. That's going to follow Notre Dame football throughout the season, the upcoming 2024 season. So put at a release, you might have seen the video on social media today, like the trailer for this thing. Per the release, the series is going to be called here come the Irish, it'll document life on and off the field. Yeah, very. Sorry. On and off the field of the legendary. This is according to the release, the legendary University of Notre Dame fighting average football team through exclusive behind the scenes footage and interviews with those closest to the program. I'm reading that directly from the release. Peacock is going to drop the first two episodes of the series, Thursday, August 29th, two days before the season kicks off at Texas A&M. And then that's going to be it until December 5th. You're not going to get anything during the actual season. This was not unexpected based on. No, not at all. Yeah, I think you had heard this as well. So they're going to they're going to drop the first two episodes, August 29th, then the next two episodes won't be until December 5th, right after the regular season concludes. And then after that December 19th, they'll drop two more. And then January 16th, which would be after the national championship would be the seventh and final episode. Here come the Irish chronicling the 2024 season. PrizePix is America's number one daily fantasy sports app with over 5 million active members. Indeed to hire, you need Indeed. So, what do you think, Vince? We finally have the news and some details. I love this stuff. I love the behind the scenes and of course it's very orchestrated. I mean, they're only going to show you what they want and it's not going to, I don't think anything is going to be, you know, earth shattering or anything like that. But I still love this stuff and I will 100% tune in to watch it. I'm a little curious about the timing and here's my reason why. You're going to get four episodes following the regular season, right? But prior to still before the playoff, and I'm not, listen, I'm not saying that Notre Dame opponents in the playoff are going to be necessarily watching this for any kind of, you know, inside information that's going to help them actually win a game because that's just not plausible, but I'm still a little surprised that that is when they're going to drop it. Now, on the flip side, dropping it in between the end of the post or the end of the regular season and the start of the postseason, there's like a three week gap in there where there's just nothing going on. And so that kind of spices some things up a bit. There was some time gives us something to talk about as well, which I obviously am looking forward to. So, it makes sense, but at the same time, it's a little curious. I'm surprised they didn't just wait until the season is completely over. That's, that's kind of what I was thinking. Like I understand, like the series that they did a few years back, it, I think that it probably can become a distraction, even if they say it's not a distraction, like the fact that, that now the head coach potentially, and even the players, you know, after games and stuff like that might have to answer some questions about whatever came up in the show and stuff like that. And, you know, again, like maybe your focus, if you're a player drifts off of actual focus and you start thinking about, you know, like the show and whatever else, but I agree, like why not just wait until January 16th and start dropping them when it, when it's officially the off season. Now, yeah, it could potentially backfire because, and I'm not, I'm obviously not saying this is going to happen, but if the season doesn't, if something happens and the season doesn't go the way that you want fair, then like who's going to watch, you know, that's in January. That's fair too. Yeah. Yeah. That's totally fair. And it is, I guess I would have just, if I were them, I would have said, okay, hey, first two episodes are coming out on the 29th of August. We've got, you know what, five more episodes after that, their TBA will keep you posted, you know what I mean? Just in case the season doesn't necessarily go the way you want it or, you know, there's some twists and turns that you don't necessarily, I don't know, for whatever reason, give yourself that out. You know what I mean? But they're locked into December. So I guess we'll be able to fill that three weeks. I think you were kind of mumbling under your breath when I said, here come the Irish as the name. Not exactly. They didn't exactly send that one to the think tank, you know what I mean, to come up with it. It's about as obvious of a title as you can possibly come up with a mirror on the nose. Yes, it works, but it's just like, okay, all right, it is going to be produced by fighting Irish media. Yeah. So it's like an in-house project, essentially, and it's going to go, you know, to peacock how much control peacock might have, you know, I do wonder in terms of pushing for what we really like to see more of this and, you know, that kind of thing. Yeah. I mean, it's essentially an in-house production. So, you know, like we talked about before, yeah, it's it's going to be it's it's a very nice infomercial Notre Dame 100% because of as people of, you know, Lou Holt said in the little trailer that they had, we're Notre Dame and they ain't. Yeah. So no one else is going to have a weekly series like Notre Dame is on peacock. So regardless of what the content actually ends up being, I feel like it's going to be very similar to what we saw in that little thing that they released a couple of weeks ago. It was almost like a test balloon of that thing that they did that, you know, that they waited what 11 months to release on the trip to Ireland last year. My feeling is it'll be very similar, like, similar to that, like probably every episode, you know, you'll you'll follow a player around or two, like go to class with Riley Leonard or whoever it happens to be. That's kind of like the one that they did. Oh, gosh, how many years ago was that? I think Jerry Tillery was a freshman when they did it. Yeah. He actually went like to Europe or Ireland or something like that during spring break or not spring break, but fall break, if I remember right, they did, you know, they followed certain guys and they did. I mean, it's going to be similar to that. It's just Notre Dame is going to have 100% say on everything, you know, so yeah. So I mean, look, I'm interested. I would like honestly, they're releasing it on August 29th, the season starts on the 31st. I would. I'm nitpicking here, but like, why not just put it out next Thursday, the 22nd instead of the 29th, you know, like a week before, because that's when people are starving for stuff. Right. Thursday beforehand. It's like, okay, we're pretty much here, like, you know, yeah, I don't know. Yeah. I don't disagree with that. I would have liked it a little bit sooner myself, but you know, I guess it is what it is. I will say when we've been at practice and things like that, there are so many more cameras. There are that are associated with fighting Irish media, like they've always had a camera person around, you know, kind of videotaping, you know, and doing the practice stuff and putting stuff out on social media. But now you're seeing guys with like rigs tied to them and like walking around. And so, I mean, it's very obvious that they're filming a show. You know what I mean? It is very clear when you're there. Is there, is there anything that you would like to see them include, you know, like any specific kind of content you would like to see them do? I, since this is going to be, obviously, they're going to get two episodes in, which is probably going to chronicle the off season. Well, yeah, I mean, it's obviously probably going to be a little bit of spring and some training. Yeah. So I would love to them for them. And it looks like they do to a degree because they show Marcus for me getting off a plane and stuff like that. I want to see him on the recruiting trail. I want to see him in the living room of some guys. They don't even have to show who the guy is. You know what I mean? But I want to hear some pitches, you know what I mean? So the camera is on the coach, not, not the player. Yeah. I want to, I want to hear, I want to hear some Marcus Freeman or Al Golden or name your coach. Or even if he's out there talking to high school coaches because I just read, I don't know if you read that ESPN piece from earlier this week. We haven't even talked about it, but ESPN did a whole piece about the different place that Notre Dame's in, you know, with recruiting right now. And it talked about just the way Marcus Freeman goes out and talks to high school coaches and interact with high school coaches and the relationships that they've built that is shocker, completely different than the previous head coach, you know, in a way, he did things, you know. Yeah. Yeah. So I would like to see that. I would like to see some more, or even, you know, look, they have to be careful because they can't necessarily, you know, say names and things like that. But I would love to be in a recruiting meeting with Chad Bowden. You know what I mean? I'm going to map out a strategy for a kid or a strategy for a position group, or, you know, just, just see the recruiting war room, you know, just kind of, that kind of behind them. Close, full turns at mintmobile.com. I will be curious because, you know, like the, they just did, you probably didn't see any of the New York Giants. They did the first off-season hard knocks in July and essentially the whole arc of that series because it's off-season was the lead up to the NFL draft. They had a, they had like a lot of like stuff in the scouting room and those kind of things scouts talking about different players and that kind of stuff. And some of the evaluations, they went to the NFL combine and, you know, just, just those kind of things. So I, I think that, that there would be some interest in that. I will be curious to see, I don't think we're going to get any of that kind of stuff. I don't either. But like this would be the time to do it. These first two episodes because again, it's all off-season because it's before the season begins. Right. I mean, they're going to have to jam, with seven episodes, they're going to have to jam a lot into each episode. Yeah. You're talking about a 12 game multiple games and you know, that kind of deal. I thought that one of the best things that they've ever done was that the Duke production last year with, you know, when they had the coaches, coaches headsets, miked and all that different kind of stuff. The, the stuff that no one ever, they really pulled the curtain back and gave us stuff that no one ever gets to hear. And it wasn't. Yeah. All super positive either. Yeah. You know what I mean? And so I was a little surprised by that. But it was unique. Completely. All was a thousand percent unique, right? And I, I, I will say I was a little surprised by it because, you know, remember market stream was talking about basically setting up for a field goal. And then, you know, Audra gets to make breaks the run and they've been pulling through the touchdown, which obviously ended up being the best thing that could have happened. But you know, they got a lot of pushback for that plan. You know what I mean? For, for market stream wanting to do that. And so yeah, it's going to be a, it's going to be interesting to see a lot of that behind the scenes kind of stuff. That's, that's what I want to see. And look, we're spoiled. We've seen practice and we, you know, we get to talk to the players and, and things like that. And so that kind of stuff doesn't interest me. Like I want to see the nuts and bolts, you know, again, because they're, this is all going to be very edited and produced, you know, the whole thing and it's like once the season starts on the, on August 31st, you're not going to see another episode until December 5th. So they can, they can obviously include whatever they do or, or don't want, you know, so like you're not giving away any trade secrets. So like miking up Marcus Freeman, miking up a couple players per game, you know, those kind of things like having a, having a mic on Marcus Freeman and Riley Leonard all the time. I think would be a very, very high value for a series like this, you know, again, like to give us, give us things that we don't usually get to hear. I think that that's the biggest thing because again, you're not going to, like, if we talked about this before, if, if 10 men on the field at Ohio State happened again, how much does that get touched on at all? Sure. Like this. Sure. You know, they're not going to do that. You know, again, give us the candid stuff that we don't get to see in here all the time. It, it, it, look, I'm going to watch every single episode regardless, you know, whether I'm happy with what I'm seeing is a different conversation. But either way, I love the fact that the school that I follow is doing something like this. Yeah. I think it's cool. Yep. For sure. Father David wants to know if they've announced international distribution. We can't get Peacock north of the wall, he says, I just, I don't know how any of that stuff works and I don't understand, like, like, if it's streaming, I don't understand why other countries can't get like Peacock and Hulu and whatever else it seems silly, but right. Yeah, they didn't understand how any of this stuff works. They didn't say anything in the press release about international, you know, stuff. And since it's all Peacock, my guess is your, that's a well, but I could be wrong. I could definitely be wrong. I may have to record it for you somehow and send it up north of the border. That's what we're going to have to do. We're going to have to smuggle it in. You're not talking about pirate videos, are you pirating it everything? You see my kids like walking in front, you know, the of the TV, Canadian content laws. That's why they showed Frazier on a continuous loop when I was up there in Canada for my vacation a couple months ago. That's fantastic. All right. So look for that. It'll be coming out. Yeah. Here come the Irish, the here to four previously known as hard knock style TV series, first two episodes August 29th and then the rest of the series December 5th and a couple more in December and then the final episode will drop in the middle of January. So should be cool. Got it to look forward to. Yeah. Should be cool. Brando, how long the episodes are? No clue. No clue. They're streaming. So it's not going to be a set. They can do whatever they want. I'm not a time. My guess. I would guess each I would guess they'll cap it at an hour, you know, like the fact that there's only seven episodes, you would hope that they would be closer to an hour than 30 minutes. I would hope so. And I mean, yeah, I would hope because again, seven and really it's going to be five episodes to cover the entirety of the season, the regular season and the college football playoff. So that's five episodes that are going to cover all that stuff. So you would hope that there'll be much closer to an hour than 30 minutes, 100% 100% because I got to cover the games. I got to cover all the off the field stuff. I'm I think it's going to be more than an hour. I think that's the way it needs to be because that they're going to have so much footage. Like, how do you how do you pick and choose? You know what I mean? Because you're basically for all intents and purposes, it's going to be about one episode for every three weeks. More or less. And that's a lot of footage to fit into one episode. So I'm hoping for more than an hour. I want a lot of footage, a lot of following around on the practice field and the meeting rooms and all that stuff. They're going to have a lot of work to do. Yes, they are to make it happen. Yes, they are. But we'll know more in what I've said before weeks. Yeah, like I'm confident like they like that Ireland thing that they did. That was cool. Like that Duke piece. Very good job just with the production of the whole thing, you know. So I'm confident that it will be, you know, looking sound good and all that kind of stuff. Yeah, what they put out, what fighting Irish media is, it's a quality establishment. And I know that's one of the things that Jack Swarberg is one of the most proud of of what he kind of instituted when he was at Notre Dame. And they do a really, really good job. And so I expect nothing less if it's going to be fighting Irish media, you know, project and you know, well, again, we'll just have to wait and see, but in what, 15 days, we'll all find out together.
