This is the Gore ideal football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Call, await, await at 17, 17, 700. ♪ Let's go ♪ - Well, you know the number one story tonight. Not the story that we wanted, Rangers losing two nil last night. Baddie Ferguson is here, legendary Rangers captain Peter Grant is here, legendary Celtic player. Baddie, first of all, everyone talking about the red cars for a hefty. What did you feel last night and you show them getting the second yellow? - I thought it was an absolute short career decision. I've been brutally honest, Paul. Look, really disappointed to go out at the Champions League. There's no doubt about that. To go into the next round against Sal's bird, but I just thought up until then, the game was finally balanced. The Rangers do enough in the first half. I thought they could do a lot more, but five minutes into the second half, the referee. I don't know what he sees there. I don't know the way football's going. You're going to get sent off for decisions like that. The game's done, let's be honest. But overall, it's a really disappointing night for Rangers in terms of been put out the Champions League. Then you need to look forward to Europa League now. But at the end of the day, I just looking back in the game, certainly the first half, I just expected a bit more from Rangers. - Did you think they were going to go through? Everyone's saying, most people are saying, look, because of the red cars, it's costing Rangers up to 40 million. - Is that not to- - You never know. - Oh, you can have a tail. If you have to stay doing the pitch, with the Rangers as a one in the game, they would have had a better chance. That's for sure. Well, overall, it's disappointing for Rangers, but listen, they needed this to settle down as quickly as possible. They've got a big game inside of the league cup against St. Johnson again at Hamden, and they need to make sure they come through that one. - Peter, how did you see it last night? And, you know, that moment when the referee then sends them off? - It's a really poor decision, Paul. I mean, you can argue about the fact that you have to have been checked a couple of times, but the referee never pointed X one, two, three, four, he never done anything like that. I don't know in that particular decision, it was a disgrace. I mean, we've seen some poor decisions last season, but you look at that last name and it has go on, because your manager's got his choice hand and the players are running all over the place. And the team's shot anyways, it has, let's be careful, honestly, they're not good enough at this moment in time. I think the manager would like me to be stronger, but it makes it so much more difficult. And just as he's trying to adjust again, he's putting the centre half up front, you know, just as he's doing that, they lose the second goal, you know? And I just see me have a snowball effect, but it was a really, really poor decision by the referee. And as you say, you want all the Scottish teams to do well in Europe, you want to keep that, the flag bearers there all times. And it's a really big blow for Scottish football, I felt that the thought was going a bit tough, not for a range of, we must admit, but they've done themselves just this last week. There's a few opportunities in that first half last night, I thought the final ball was pure and not enough bodies in the box. And that's always a problem then. - Let's see if Phillip come on afterwards. He was obviously raging, said it's the worst decision in his 30 years in football. Was he speaking to the referee? We saw him at full time, did he get an explanation afterwards? - No, I tried to, because I saw the images after, and yeah, it's clear you have in football and we talked a lot about that. Sometimes a gray zone. And because of that, VR is there and it helps football to make it more honest. But this decision had nothing to do with gray zone. It was really clear, it was nothing going on. You have to just jump higher, he doesn't move his arms next to his body. So it's not a fault, it's nothing. And to lose a player that moment and to play with them. So I tried to understand the decision and to ask that the referee stick to his opinion about it. That it was a very clear fall and second yellow and red. So I think, I know, I don't think I'm really, I'm really confident that these bosses will have another idea. - The boss is well, another idea he reckons. Larry, is it time to change the role, which means that you can't appeal. You can't go to VAR for a yellow card. - Yeah, I mean, certainly we're at that decision and granted a point to that. I've seen a few last year, but I think that this is a real gray area in football. And I think they need to change that role. 'Cause everybody watched everybody's agreement that it was an absolute short career at this decision. He's not even, as he's jumped his arms actually by his side. - Well, you know yourself, Barry. We were always told when we played Europe, so I'm going to early '80s now. The one thing the manager used to say to you, make sure you don't lift your foot off the ground. You know, make sure you give me your knee things, you need to lift a foot forward back here when the ball and nick the ball or whatever. The referee it differently. And that's always a worry for, I think, British teams and European football, because the other game is more competitive, there is more challenges, there's more body contact. But that was a discussion last night to be a pair of foreigners with you. But they have to be contacting football, 'cause you have to win the ball back. And he's just jumped up to win a header. You know, when your arms go and you come out at some stage, well, I hit some boy in the face or whatever, but it was a terrible, terrible decision. But we were always told, even all the years ago, Paul, that you have to be careful because the referee, referees, the game's differently European competition. - Yeah, you can't remember. Is it a contact sport? Is it any more? - Well, that's my worry. That is my genuine worry. I think you need to have a bit of aggression. But going on that decision last night, there was no aggression points, whatever. - What was your first thing to support us? - They didn't show any fight, they didn't show any guts. But you can't show that now. - Jimmy's been on, should the manager have taken them off? Or is that with hindsight now? - Given that, listen, I've played in plenty of games when I've been booked in the first half early doors. I'm sure Grant is a sent mail. He got booked a lot more than me. That's for sure. And, first minute never made the first half. - I think it's easy to say, listen, the manager should have brought them off or whatever, I think that's just an easy way out. Listen, I didn't see it as an issue. I'm continuing an obvious line that they're saying half with a decision. It was never a second booking anyway. - There was nothing in it. - No, it wasn't a freak out. - I mean, it was nothing. - It wasn't even a freak out. - Yeah, of course not. - That tells you enough, it's not a freak out, never made a booking. - So the manager was asked about, why didn't he play Journey from the start? 'Cause he makes a difference. Now, he said beforehand that the medical people had said that maybe not to risk him, that he was going to bring him on later if he needed him. What do you feel, Barry, was that? - Well, if you're going to play him 45 minutes with an impact, he made it the weekend against Model, for what, the short period of time he's been at Rangers and what I've seen he can do. I would have started him and played him the first 45 minutes. 'Cause listen, his confidence would have been high. We obviously, his goal against Model at the weekend and his performance. So, yep, if he was going to only play 45 minutes, for certain I would have started him. Here's Derek on the line, big Rangers fan. Derek, good evening. - Hey, good evening, Paul, good evening, Barry. - How you doing? - Hey, hey, hey. I think they're saying they're not friends and it's a problem of the manager's expertise. And once again, he said to you, this is an interest. Seven, one, two, three, three games is not major advantage to it. I think it's time to play as manager. I'm not being bad at that argument on this nation about Michael Beal and I was proud of him. This man is not up to the job. He's not one of that big game. It's not in the middle as well. I will move on to the moment. - All right, we'll come back. Derek, we're going to come straight back. It's not a great line. We're trying to call you right back or James will call you right back. But we heard what you said there, that it could paper over the cracks in the approach by Phillip Clemall, and that's Derek's point. - Yeah, well, he's just been awarded a new four-year contract, Paul. And listen, they've been honest about this. This is a rebound that's going to take time and I totally understand that, but we've got to remember you're a bit rangers. It's all about winning. And I know the manager, I'll know that. Now you'll come under a bit of scrutiny, a bit of pressure and so are the players. 'Cause I know there's big changes in this squad and obviously there's not a lot of money there to go and buy other players, but rangers really need to start winning 'cause that's what the club's all about. - I think I'm writing the same Barry at the top of the show. You said, look, it was a huge factor, but there was no guarantee rangers were going to win it. That's what you were saying, that you weren't, they didn't play as well as you thought they might have. - No, I just, I thought it was finally balanced again. - Yeah, I wouldn't think there was one team that dominated the first 45 minutes. Look, Jack Butler didn't have any to do. I think the dynamo keeper had won, I can remember, one save from Mikozland towards the end and there was another couple of things happening in the box. I just thought rangers with the pepid are going a bit more and be more aggressive in the approach. That's what I expected. - Yeah, what else you're back on now? What else did you want to see? Is that seven wins out of 23, you said? - If you climb there, the pre-seeding games, I think it is Paul. And then we'll get that appointment on the board or on the market for the same two as similar missing and they're all good to stop. I think the board's treating the fans with contempt and it's saying, I think that the demonstration against the board, I think that answers what made that full of the fans. That the lack of investment since Stephen Girard has been away from the club is embarrassing. It didn't back around because I know this make of Bill but serious questions have got to bear in the board. Where is the season book money? I know people keep saying about losing money but where's the season book? The sport is the first money. The lack of quality in the team is alarming and I think it can be the most seasons in the 1980s. - Well, there's going to be big implications. Here's what the manager said about the financial implications of going out of the Champions League. I told you guys this week, if you go to Champions League, you can do things faster because there's 40 million coming into the club. That's not the case now. So it will take more time. That's the reality to do the things that you want to do or the things that the club wants to do for the future but it doesn't mean that the story stops also, of course. And you see it already now. With young, exciting players coming into the club, making steps and I don't need to say all the names every time. And to make value for the future to make next steps and out of that, you can get to three other players. And like this, we need to create a model as a club to grow. - Philippe, you... - We'll hear more of that shortly. So, Barry, it's a crucial one for Rangers. There is no question. That tells me a lesson to manager that's going to be a slower progress because they haven't reached the Champions League. We all know the monies that are in the Champions League, they've fought at my own pound. Obviously, Europe, a league does bring money in but nowhere near what the Champions League will bring in. So that tells me that it's going to be a slow binder. Instead, a quick fix in terms of getting quality players 'cause you obviously have a lot more money have you ever gotten into the Champions League? Peter, what would you say? - I think when you look at the team Paul and the squad, it wasn't a team that was ready for the Champions League anyway. To get there, I thought they were going to be very fortunate and whether the manager was sold a puppy prior to it 'cause you see me say that a couple of weeks ago and that before he signed a new contract, you need to have good players to qualify. And it's difficult, always was difficult to get into the qualification games for Scottish teams, just coming back after pre-season, whatever, you try and get through difficult rounds to get there. And for Rangers, it was always going to be difficult with the amount of changes I've had. You're talking about Connor Barren and that coming in. MacKorzlin, oh kids, really? You know, you talk about it, guys, it's playing together at the back. You know, sort of been out for a full season there enough, Hallie played a game. You know, you've got proper in whose Hallie they're pre-seasoning them. James Tavinia, we don't know if he's going or staying. You've got Yelma's coming in, who's been out for a long time, injured. And I'm making all the excuses here because you have to, because the squad is poorer than it was last year. I think looking at it, and I know the man just seemed to be slightly different. I'd say, yeah, I think it's slightly poorer. If you take all the guys, the only thing I can say about last year, the ones that were there weren't fit. You know what I'm saying? They were a bit better players, but they weren't fit. - But there's not going to be money there now, though, is there's a huge amount last summer, right? 18 to 20 million. - Yeah, that's a problem, but there's two players that spring to mind and what's my name? Look, watching that game last night. I know I won't take you a bit more desire in the first half or whatever, but there was a lack of creativity for me. And there's two players that spring to mind to her, obviously, surplus, and that's Todd Cantwell and Hijie. So they look to me, they're not going to be part of the manager's plans, or they ain't going to be part of the manager's plan. So they need to get money on as quickly as possible from there to go and reinvest into there, and to the squad, because they need players. - But see, when that's edition and buzz, I'll look at Matt and Rayleigh then. Matt and Rayleigh's played every game, and he can still get sold tomorrow, put all the money on. He's played every game. He's been a big part, even in the first couple of league games. Should Rangers not have been playing these guys? - Yeah, play hockey. - Yeah, it's a fair game, you know what I'm saying? - I was saying it last night. My boy, when I was watching it and speaking to my mates about it, 'cause you know what it's like when, obviously, the game finishes everybody's, that's appointed for the straight-aid, et cetera, but we don't know what's going on behind closed doors. We don't know where they're, but- - Rangers are playing their wages? - Yeah, exactly. Listen, I do think generally, we could be doing my day to players at this moment in time. I mean, if Matt, I should was that, listen, we need to sell you. I still want to play, but give it everything. I still want to go out and play. - Derek, what do you feel about hatches just now? He's getting paid and can't, well, I mean, what do you reckon? - Is that a story right enough that if we had to play a 100 games, make it double as wages? - I don't know, I have read that there is a- - Yeah, I've heard that, Derek. I don't know of that, that's totally true or no, but I have heard that as a scenario, I think he's one game away from, I don't know, maybe getting away, but listen, honestly, I don't know of that, that's true or no. - Who's going to steady the ship? 'Cause it started the week as we know Graham Sunnis, and Rangers fans, I think it's fair to say, he's a legend at the club. He said with Jim White on Monday, he wasn't sure if there was enough experience around the board for Philippe Clemente. You heard some of it, Barry, you heard it, Peter as well, and that was unusual for him to come out and say this, and I'm listening to Derek and the passion that he's got for Rangers, and you wonder for Philippe Clemente, if he has got enough new surroundings, we know that someone's going to a fairly senior position in marketing, apparently, was a Celtic fan, and there's no harm in that in most places, but you know what it's like, you do end up in Glasgow, and they tell you in social media, immediately people find out, is there somebody there, a guiding mind? Football wise, this is Barry, for them, and for Philippe Clemente. - Personally, I mean, I don't think he would have signed a new contract if he wasn't in control of the situation. Paul, that's the way I am. I'm looking at it, look, I think he knew whether they get into the Champions League or not, look, he would have a big budget if they get through. He actually knows what's happening now, budget wise to go and maybe strengthen a team, there's no way near what it was going to be of the, obviously, even last night's game, it was worth four or five million pounds, which is quite a substantial amount of money still, which I would have believed it was straight into the coffers for the manager, but I don't think the manager would have signed a new contract if he didn't believe that he was going to get supported round about the board and there's a football director, Neil's Corpin, who's obviously in charge of the transfers, I'm in Philippe Glamont, I've got a good relationship, so I've been testing to see over the next couple of weeks what actually happens in the transfer front. - That's how they do need players. - I'll look at the team and I'll look at the bench and they do need strength and there's no doubt about that. - You said Monday night Barry, you're not buying this thing about not being at iBrux, they've much rather be, but listen, in an ideal situation, you might have been playing at iBrux last night, the atmosphere. If that was at iBrux, the roof would have been off, you know what I mean, the noise would have been electric. But listen, you still a professional, I don't know, we're granted things, haven't you? You know the script, you know it's happening going forward. Hamden, ideally, it's no more favourite place, it doesn't create a great atmosphere, but it's still a bit aggressive, still when I cross that white line, I'm going to do a job and that's when I gave my football for Rangers. - Yeah, listen, Hamden's an nightmare for the players, there's no good way from that. I agree with Barry, it doesn't affect you as a footballer because you know your job is to go out there and perform, but the atmosphere is completely different. Well, it's no because in any shape or form, in what the Rangers have there last night said, if those were lucky? - It was a disappointing time, wasn't it? - I was going to say that to Derek. - That's right, I think it was there. - Do you need that support? - I think it was right. - But you need that support. This is the time you need it. Maybe the same, it's healthy, I understand that, and it was a real, real tough time, and it was really difficult. Barry's right, I don't think there was one player in the part that never gave his all last night. That's the one thing I would say. They gave it all, they're just no up to it. In the respect to that, they've not got that quality that Rangers need if they're going to progress and getting champions, they can get 40 million, and I don't think the manager would have signed a new contract, the all this stadium stuff, all this lack of players. There is no way, any manager worth his salt wouldn't have signed a new contract. - Jesus, he's just watching the game last night. I just wanted somebody to grab the game, but it's crossing the net. - Have you jigged enough? - No, no, I don't, and that's why everybody's going to be, yep, we need a new set, a half, a left back, a right back, a center forward. You know, we need a central midfielder who can control again. Listen, young corner baron's done excellent. Since he's come in, he showed a brilliant attitude. The old man day, he's come off at a wee bit, but there's a bit of potential in there. I just wanted to say last night, someday, whether it's a pass, whether it's a tackle, whether it's driving 30, 40 yards with a bow, that's what Rangers are desperate for. Just save the bring some down in the center of the park. That old bring corner baron and deal man day on so much. I'm telling you, find a word to you, direct before the break. - I think he's a ball in a Celtic car, away from leaving. - That's fair, that last year, that last year. I think, without Rangers going to Hampton and all this, Paul, I said, the first question Matt would come at the first Celtic Rangers game of the new season, 'cause people were talking about before a cup final last year and losing a league. And I said, "Abso." - I bow, I bow, I bow. - Is he one of his voice notes? - No, that's nonsense. - Red button, green button. - I say, don't voice note, Barry. Give him a call, you can speak to him live. - This is the good radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. - Let's go! - Paul Cooney, Barry Fegerson and Peter Grant, were looking back to Rangers last night, going out of the Champions League. And I mean, most people thought they were one one from last week, it was going to be tough, but they could and probably should have gone through, but they didn't. Who knows what would have happened? But of course, Jeff, they sent off in 50 minutes. Second, yellow. And I mean, there's nobody saying, apparently, James Tavernier said the referee said afterwards, there was an elbow used, but there wasn't, was there? - Listen, it was a joke here decision. - Yeah, but listen, you're not going to say, with that, I've made that difference. I said it started to show, you never know what could happen to a game of football, but it would have been made easier if you had 11 men on their pitch. But I've watched it maybe five, six, seven times, and that's an absolute shock at the end of. - Peter, we've been saying for days, Adam, he is coming. He has come and he'll be revealed soon. So they're saying about eight, eight and a half million, plus a million, sell on or whatever. You did say last week, Norwich, we're talking maybe 10 million, a few weeks ago, it was six million or whatever. How do you feel the fact that he's coming? - No, I'm delighted he's coming, you know, 'cause listen, you can only go on his performances last year. Before it came, Paul, as I said, he hadn't played enough games for Norwich, but what I did like about him, he got in positions to score. I also said at that particular time, I thought, oh, he was ahead of him if he needed games. You know, but Adam came, done tremendously well, and you can see how precarious it is when the last week I went, the game in Kyogo goes down holding his shoulder again. And that's our concern when you have no other striker, you know, you're playing Mikey Johnson through the middle, that's no disrespect to Mikey who's a winger. And it's great to get another striker in, who's already been there, wants to be in there, desperate to be there, and people are hard to go for the money, but listen, unless you're paying out your own pocket, but don't complain. - What are you thinking about Liverpool, apparently, open-minded so they're open with the new manager to selling or sending out and loan the Japanese player, the midfielder, Vateru Endo, 31-year-old, Peter, you've watched them. - Yep. - He's played quite a number of times, Japanese international as well. - I really liked when Paul when he was in Germany, and I thought it was a really good signing for Liverpool. - Yeah. - And he done really well for Liverpool last year under Klopp. And Klopp knew obviously knows the German game very well. He brought him in to do a job for Liverpool and he proved that, and I think the Liverpool fans were really impressed with him last year, so it's been interesting to see, I think it would be more of a loan than anything else, you know. And what it would do is say if Mark went for Tottenham, said Calm could play that position, Max Endo could come in and play that certain one. So I can understand the reasoning behind it. So, but he's a very, very good player. It's not the Celtic model, but you hear Brendan Rogers. He wants players that are ready to play in the premiership and also in the Champions League. Here's Dave on from Thurso, a big Celtic fan. Hi, Dave. - How cool are you doing tonight? - Yeah, good, how are you? - Good, the same thing. Beautiful, mate, up to your mate. - Excellent. Actually, it's not too bad in Glasgow today, but is it the shorts today? - No, not quite. - Oh, no. (laughs) - Not doing in Glasgow, it's never the shorts. - Up in the night, oh, no, I'm not. - I'm not been in this one for sure. - Half of Glasgow in the West is as well. And maybe half of Thurso. Dave, what's your mind about Celtic? - They have lines on there, just to be honest. - All right. (speaking in foreign language) - The line's terrible, Dave, sorry. (speaking in foreign language) - Yeah, so it was a terrible decision. It's a terrible line, I'm gonna call you back. There you are, Peter Grant has said it already. There's Dave, a huge Celtic fan, buddy. - No doubt, I mean, Grant A played for Celtic legend there. Dave, for Thurso, Celtic guys that I've spoke to today, everybody's in agreement, listen. Everybody saw it with their own eyes, it was an absolute shocker, he had decisions, there's no doubt about that. - I want a domestic front, Paul. I want Rangers to get beat every week. You know what I mean, I'm not being funny. Ben, you're up, I want to be successful, 'cause it's great for the Scottish game, because isn't it? - I'm the opposite. - Exactly, yeah, and that's exactly what I mean. You know, so, but I've got to be fair. And at the end of the day, we thought it was a penalty, but we don't think it was a penalty. Well, but honest, because we think that's the way it should be, because I was trying to do it, what would I, I thought we'd sell to get what's happened to? I'd be on your crime, you know what I mean, about it, because it's the exact same thing. If it was odd that I happened to, I'd be crying for it as well, you know what I mean? So, 100% right, it was a terrible decision. - Here's Philip Le Mans, speaking afterwards, about the implications. - Yeah, I cannot say it kills the dream at that moment because that's the thing to be proud of. The players kept on going with them to make good organization, to try to find them the moments to counterattack. Before that, we were dominating the game, and we were creating the chances out of that, not with massive chances, because Dinamo is also a good team, but you saw they were getting tired, and we knew the last half hour we would get more space to get better chances. So, yeah, the players kept on doing what they had to do. They kept on believing, but then you get the goal against at the end, and then you do a little bit cousin or one against one, to try to force something, and you get the second goal against them. It's a very decisive moment, and in the end, it has killed the dream of a dressing room, it has killed the dream of more than 50,000 fans, and you expect a better level in decision-making, I guess. This is for me the worst decision that I've seen in my more than 30 years ago. - Washington 30, back. - Yeah, listen, I've got to agree with them in terms of, well, you can't label it against the players. They tried that hard, they gave it everything. They just liked that bit of quality. At times, I thought, just in that, and certainly in the final third, 'cause they got into some decent positions, and then when it was in the box, it was just that bit of quality that you want to see, and listen to the decision. And speaking about it, Benoit, on Earth, for 30 minutes, now that's all I spoke about. I think everybody knows, but in terms of, you can't say the players didn't give it that all they did, just, they need help. They do, they need players in that have got that, but they extra quality, certainly, in the final third of the pitch. Dave, you're back on, Thorso. Anything else to say about Rangers? Then we went to ask you something about Celtic? - Yeah, no, well, I mean, this is the year for it's the week for protection. You'd think they'd have a week there for these refereeing marches. 'Cause that's the standard, that way, then I think it's got a shootball can start completing a lot of art right now. - Absolutely, it's a shocker. - Yeah. - And, apparently, as well, we can't get there for you to overcome a yellow card. Well, I think when it's becoming a second yellow and a red card, they've got to do something with that rule as well. - Yeah, I think everyone would give it up. - Yeah, 100% which, they need to do something about it. You could see it. Here's Philip Camano, Dave, saying that they need to move on. - I have a lot of things in my head, but you guys know that every word I say too much, I can get a Ben also for the next European game. So, let's keep things in my head. I think it's the best way now. And I need to be good and smart for the club, for the team. And we need to move on. That's what we need to do. So, to take lessons out of this game, and there are a lot of positive lessons to take out of the two games against them. And the other things we don't control, so we try not to control the things we cannot control. - Some certain news for you guys that young Daniel Kelley has signed a pre-contract that's just come out from Millwall. I know Millwall's been mentioned. So, pre-contract, Peter, what do you think, first of all? He did a lot of promise, but he couldn't agree terms for the new season. - Really surprised, Paul. He got a couple of opportunities last season, done very well. I was impressed with him when he played in the games. - What did you like about him? - A good energy, a good football. He looked at the good football brain, understood the game. He scored a great goal, actually, as well. One of the games I was at. But I don't know who's telling these boys, and guiding them. Millwall's Celtic. Come on. - You're raging about this. I'm looking at your face. - I can't understand you. Listen, if I've got a fighting chance at Celtic to play, I'd go to Millwall, come on. There's no comparison. - Celtic said they made him a really good offer. - Yeah, and if you've got to be wanting to fight, my biggest thing would be saying to him, "If I're going to get a chance no matter how well I do, am I going to get a consistently being the team? Am I consistent? I get an opportunity to be on the pitch?" That's the question of the bad. If the answer is no, fine. That means Celtic don't think that highly either. But if they're saying they're giving them a good, very good offer, and they're opportunities, I've got to trust that's what the club are doing, but if they leave Celtic to go to Millwall, it just doesn't seem to ring with me at all. Dave, how do you feel about it? Have you got a view on Daniel Kelly? - Yeah, that's Daniel Kelly in many more polls, but it's just the money, isn't it? I mean, you know, Celtic now just can't compete with League One and League Three sides, so it's a fair and it's just a shocker. - But what kind of money is the, sorry, do you think in League One, for example, in England? - I think it would show you in League One. - The main thing, you look at players for teams, like see your models in some months, they can't compete with even national league teams down south. - That is tier five, non-league. - Wow. - Yeah, that's the kind of money he's putting in. - Not even the north, conference north, part time, and he's getting 600 pounds, part time. - Over 30 grand a year, part time. - Part time is getting that. And you're saying, Paul, this is, I think this may be ninth tier, and they're getting that for two nights a week. So, some of the boys in the Premier League are not gonna, I know a hell of a lot of boys in the championship are not getting that in Scotland, so that's what we're up against, but if it comes down into that vein, if that's the way they want to go, they're losing somebody in Melbourne. - I know, you're not happy. I get it, I'm with him. - You've got to stay at the Bigger Club and give yourself that opportunity. And then maybe wait a year or two and then see if it's going to happen then. Right, you know what, maybe my time is to go down south and try something different. Rocko Vata, he did it as well, but Celtic had plans for him, I think. At a lancer still interested in Matt or Riley, they're not giving up, so that's still in there, Brighton, in there too, so that is at the airport launching for that. What do you make? Do you think, Dave, I know you know your football, so what about this Liverpool player, the 31-year-old Vataru Endo? Japanese midfielder played a lot last season. They're suggesting that the new coach maybe doesn't have plans for him. Would you think he could come to Celtic? - I would talk to one, I mean, how long has he been at? One or two years? - He's been in a connection area. - No, it came last year, yeah, it came 2013. So, no, but, I mean, then it's just the civilisation with the club, so perhaps we could do something with Liverpool, but yeah, Matt or Riley, we can't hear the play, it's Matt or Riley, I mean, we might get another player in, but you know, I don't know where Matt or Riley unfortunately, but good luck to him. I mean, he's done a straight over a couple of seasons, and you know, if he wants to go, he wants to go, but I think, I think he's, he doesn't screw you on the right way, I think he's waiting for the right club, you know, he's no plan of taking a half step up for Celtic, depending on where he goes and playing, I think he's waiting for one of, you know, the better club, so a better brother of good, than he's getting off of just now. - Barry, you've got to take your hat off to him 'cause there's been a lot of speculation, and it'd be easy for it to go to your head. One thing about him is, he's all clearly had a real good pre-season, played in all the games, and obviously, I've seen the game at the weekend against him, so he's attitude looks, looks spot on. He's a Rolls Royce of a player, isn't he, Barry? - Yeah, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's grew, and yeah, I talk midfielder, but there's no doubt, and I think they'll find it so hard to replay some. - And that's the mark. - I mean, 'cause they, they three, and that's the mark. - He's checking your garage. - They, they three in the middle of the pitch for Celtic. I've got a really good understanding. McGregor, he's at it in a rally. - If-- - No, no, no, no, this is great. - Devari, can I just ask Peter, what do you think of the place for the, for the, the read-up here? - Listen, it was always going to go up, there's no doubt about that. And said that last season, soon as we went back, it was going to go up because championship clubs and that would be looking at them and think, well, we cannot offer five, six million pounds for them. And I knew Norwich would think in pole possession, they think, mate, really, 25 million Celtic are going to have money in the bank. Nourries are a very well-run club, and they're not, they're not stupid. They're a business club as well, so they'll be thinking Celtic, but they're money in the bank. And I always thought it was going, the longer it was going to go, it was going to go up to eight and a half, nine. And then I thought it was coming, what a Celtic won't they pay for them? And if I look about and you look and try and bring strikers in now, it's so, so difficult. I mean, there was a boy who got insane from it, let's go, Madrid was supposed to go to Chelsea. None, I've never heard of him, and I watch football all the time, and he was going for 45 million pounds, and I have never heard of him. You know, so he means he's not even going to let to go Madrid's team. And that, that is the difficulty. You try to say, "What has a price nowadays?" Listen, if he comes in and bangs it, and sell it when the trouble, and he bangs it goes in, we'll look at nine and a half millions, if it's nothing. And you're hoping that he comes in and does that, well, you're getting 25 million for him, and a couple of years' time, 'cause that's the model that I try to do when he's 23 years of age. - Are you in on the deal, Peter? 'Cause you're a knowledge legend as well. Come on, tell us. - I'd love to be in there. I'd love to be part of that dude, don't worry about that. - Dave, the other Celtic news today, but this is speculation. Celtic have made a Belgian wonder kid he's described as, he came through the ranks under Philippe Clermont, in Belgium, his name, he was at Augsburg, and they're watching him to come, I'll give you the name in a second or two. Do you know of them, Peter? - No, I do not, Paul, and I'd be surprised because I feel like saying, Clermont, I've seen angles. - You know, and he knows him. You know, you're surprising. He doesn't go get that type of player then. If Celtic has shown that level of look for him, you know what I mean, because, but yeah, again, it comes down to the value, Paul, for even young players nowadays, it's so expensive. So you have to get the right one, that's for sure. And I think Celtic's model, the way they've done it, but not doing that, bringing them in and lowing, having a look at them, see how they mix in. Then, bang, we can go for them. There's you, I've got the captain here under 21s of Portugal playing. So that's been a very good way to do it. And I think you're a good player for Celtic, different from Matt, but I think you're a very good player when he's called upon. - Thanks, Dave, for the call. Arnie Engles is his name, it's this time of the season, Barry, but Celtic won people ready to play and for Rangers, a few questions coming in, saying, Barry, what would you do? Who can they get money for now to free up some money over the coming, it was only two weeks and two days to go in the window? That's if they're buying them, we know it could be loans. Who do you think you're thinking, Haji, but they're saying they might not be that much money in that deal? - Yeah, I know, the three explaining mind are Haji, Cantwell and Davis, that's the three. But listen, you have to have buyers. People have to be interested in them. I'm sure they'll be clubs interested in Haji, 'cause again, watch the Euros and I made a point in watching Romania because obviously he was playing and he looked good. I like to look him before he get the series knee injury. Obviously, he come back, he struggled a wee bit, he went out and loaned over to La Liga, never played as much as he wanted. But listen, I just thought in the summer coming back after the Euros, having a new player, it'd be a fresh start from, but listen, there's no work to it that way. Obviously, he's no part of the plans and it looks to me if he's born his way. And Peter, after the break, I'm gonna ask you and Barry about James Tavernier. - This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. - Let's go! - Did you want anything? - Nah. (upbeat music) - Oh, wait 17, 17, 700 for the calls or the voice notes or what's up, it's whatever you want for. Peter Grant and Barry Ferguson, before we know it, we'll be looking to the League Cup, the Premier Sports Cup this weekend, Rangers looking to defend it, they're up against St. Johnson at the weekend at Hamden Celtic, who previously, we're winning it for a few years, they're at home, two heads, mother with against Kelly, of course, 'cause Kelly playing in Europe tomorrow, we'll speak about them, and Dundee United, St. Marin, Sunday, 'cause the Saints also playing tomorrow night. Elsewhere at the weekend, Aberdeen against Queens Park, Dundee against Adri. Falkirk against Hartz, could that be a banana skin there for the Hertz? The Spartans against Ross County, as we mentioned, Rangers against St. Johnson. - Peter, I think you were saying about James Tavernier, we're thinking, what's gonna happen the next few weeks? You know, the Rangers fans, you heard Daddy Care later on, they're worried? - Well, it's gonna be interesting, Paul, how are they going to get the money? James Tavernier was maybe one of these guys where he'd stay with us to see if we qualify for the champions, look, I don't know, I felt that's the situation before, and to be fair to him, yeah, again, you've got to give him credit, he's turning out to play, he's played in all the games, and we're talking about really doing the same for Celtic, so Tavernier's done the exact same, he's welling about there when the critics are out there, and it's tough for him. If I was personally speaking, I think it's time for him to move on. That's me personally, I think, it's about like ghosting and all that, you know, I think Rangers needed a change. What the problem you have, they've not got the finances now, and I look at Rangers and they look so much weaker, you know, that's the difficulty for him because I'm trying to think, or if they get boys out injured, they could come back in and make the group stronger, I don't see that at this moment in time. And this reminds us going to pull a rabbit from a hat, you know, with finance, and bring guys in, and the other guys automatically go. I know you'll get their wages, but I agree with you, Barry, are you going to get the money for them that you're looking for? You maybe get their wages back, but it's very, very difficult if you want three, four, five million pounds for each player. I don't think that's going to happen. Barry, what can you say about James Tavernier? Yeah, I agree with Grant. He said you can't have a go, because he's turned up, he's played games in football. There's been speculation. That's now a full season, there's been speculation. Surrounding on my watch, I don't know if you had done nothing, I think it was last week, or just before the season started. And he was focused on the season ahead, so I never gave me anything that he was in the mindset that he was wanting to leave, but less than the still two weeks left, and the window pole would just make a wait, or just over two weeks would just make a wait and see what happens there. Manager was asked last night, why didn't he start Vaclav Churni? No, because we have a lot of very qualified people in the building, in the medical staff, in the performance staff, to come with the right things. It's also what the club needed after last season with so many injuries, to make that better, to have the right info, to make the right decisions, to make players better, to make them stronger, to give them the right moments, playing minutes, so a signal of them was really clear not to start with him. Maximum time would be to come in half time, what we did. So this decision we made together, he's just a few days in the building, he comes out of four weeks of holidays, and I understand that people who never been a manager or never been a player and don't know what the human body is, that they doubt those things then, but that's the reality of every manager. So no, zero, because it was clearly a decision for the short term and the long term. - Bali, you've been in the game at the highest level, do you agree with the manager there that? - Yeah, I know he played the same 45, what's the difference between, - Well, I'm going to ask you this far. - Well, if I'd rather go out and do the warm up with the team, get ready. - Straight into the game. - Straight into the game, I just feel you may be sitting on the bench a bit cold, and then you're rushing to get warmed up, 'cause if you go out before a game, you've got 40 minutes, or just under 40 minutes to warm up for a game, then you've basically only got, I know you'll go out, maybe a couple of times during the first half, but generally it's only for a few minutes, then you're back and it allowed on and one's out, so it's only maybe about 10 minutes to get warm, to get ready for the setting half. Personally, look, they know what's going on in the building, people make decisions, but I would have played them the first 45 minutes, because-- - Well, it's the biggest thing is, Paul, understand if the manager's 100% right, but what we're trying to say is, see if he was only allowed to play 30 minutes. That's fine, you can only bring him one half time, because you're not going to start him at a game and then take him after 30 minutes. So that's what we're trying to say here. The fact that he's playing for 45, I agree 100% of the body, you prefer to do the warm up, so you're ready, everybody's going to try and get their first breath, because it doesn't matter if you've been playing all pre-season. So as the game starts, the nerves, and everything or, you know, everything like that, so everybody's trying to get their first breath. So you're all getting that together. If he was getting 45 minutes, I definitely think he should have started. If he was only in 30 minutes, then that's a completely different thing, and I understand what the minds are saying on that, but 45, for me, he should have started. He was surprised he took off Ross McOsland at half-timer, I guess. No, no, no, really, if I'm being honest. He did okay in the game. You've got to remember he's a young man, a young player as well, with not a fast amount of experience. So, yeah, I wasn't too surprised that obviously made the change at half-time. Listen, I like McOsland, because of the fact he plays when enthusiasm. And he tries to take people and he'll lose the ball and makes their own decisions at time. His final balls got to be much improved, because he's got into good positions. I think the difficulty of going up ball in my bit Barry, because he watches Rangers, obviously, much more than I do. I don't think they got enough people in the box. So even a bad ball sometimes can be dropped to somebody else. But Rangers don't see me have enough people in there that can latch on to that. You know, it seems to be Desser's in on his own, trying to go to the front post back post everything. And that's why sometimes you find he's in the wrong area, because he's trying to cover all bases. I just think they need more runners in there, because even a bad ball becomes a good ball, because it makes it difficult for the opponent. And I just think that too many defenders always available to clear, because there are no pressure for Rangers mid-field. - Yeah, exactly, for the mid-field. I mean, have you asked any defenders? Mid-field runners, they hate it. Absolutely hate it. And I get, look, the dangers of getting maybe the, if it's a McOsland that's crossing and you have to be coming in the back post, I'm just not seeing enough numbers in the box. There's got to be at least two of that central mid-field. Maybe one in the box, one in the edge of the box, and obviously the hand can just be behind them. - Then he always been mentioned. He's been on the bench. You haven't seen much of him at all. The manager was asked last night, is anything wrong? Is he injury or whatever? - He always had that kind of work, look when the moment he came in, when he came into the club here. So I've been watching him a long time. I wanted to get him to Bruges when he was in Ajax. Then he was not playing there. And he had that walk also, that moment. So nobody needs to worry about that. No, there's nothing going on with him. And today I wanted to put him in, that was the idea, but then the circumstances of the game were not there. But people will see him in the next couple of weeks. They don't need to worry about him. It's just about seven months out that you need time to gain much fitness and then the right moments to get these minutes. And it depends also from the scenarios of the game in that situation. - Bari, can you remember a time like this for Rangers this early in the season when it doesn't seem to be much money that the squad is still pretty thin. Few players that could go. It's going to be quite a few weeks for him. - Yeah, it's going to be an interesting couple of weeks. Paul, we see what goes on with the main couple of the squad who goes out the door, who comes through the door. In terms of Danilo, I can understand that one 'cause he's been out long term, seven months, that's definitely just maybe, I've no seen him for that 10 or 15 minutes just to give him that. But confidence to go on the pitch, but the manager's just explained it there. And I get that one and I understand that you're going to see him now in the coming weeks 'cause he certainly impressed me, Danilo. I liked him through the middle, I liked his movement because they are way for thin, up top. - Peter, they need a Barry Ferguson. - But we said that, and I'm not just saying that because he's there, you know, he's shooting my call, anything you want, you can name them all, either the teams are arpeled, you know, the gas goings. You name them all, it's not that time now, Paul, you know. I said that Barry's in there, 10 the ball, great players around the bottom as well. And even Barry, Barry's been a great player in this team. But he's still been as successful because Barry'll always tell you need good players as well. - You better be playing with you. - Well, look at that. - And Paul makes day. - Yeah, exactly what I'm saying is because of the fact that the quality you need to have, Rangers look short of that at this moment in time. I said that last week when you were asking me who did I predict? - Yeah. - And I just said, well, if I'm talking about quality and I look at Celtics bench compared to Rangers bench at this moment in time, it's night and day. You know, another minute of players were in the football pitch. And unfortunately for Rangers, that's the time they're getting through. But it's everything else with it, you know, playing it, handed. And I know that was for me and I'm only watching it tell. Division last night was terrible with empty seats. You'd have never seen that to eye-brokes when he's just coming back in. He'd be playing a Champions League. Obviously, by first game, win-win-win. Didn't mean to come back, you'd think this is an opportunity. So even that situation has hindered them. And that is the gist at this moment in time. - Yeah, they've been packed to their afters. - Absolutely, you know. - I think it was an eye-brokes. It's not an ideal situation at this moment in time. But as with it is, you have to deal with it. I've no good experience in doing that. Grantee obviously has a good experience because it's still take done it years ago. But I've still been the mindset. Listen, it's still out. You're just getting out there. You need to try and focus on what's in front of you. But yeah, there's a big couple of weeks ahead for the club in terms of the movement and the transfer market because they certainly need reinforcements. - They should, the news is coming. - And then another ninja day last night. - Exactly, y'all know this. - And that looks to me. I mean, that's one of their short and gold. And straight away, pulls up. That tells me that that's a... - Look, like a tone of five. - Actually, if you've got a tone of five, yeah, I don't know. It depends on what grade it is. That I could bend from six weeks to 12 weeks. - Came out nothing, didn't it? Just, it was only going... - You're telling me straight? Could you? - Yeah. - You can tell when you strike it, pull right away, just see him grabbing it right away and then they're the tone muscle. And you know, as a player, you know, you can hear it actually and never mean anything else. You know right away and for the kid to get carried off on a straight journey. It's the last thing. You need Rangers to begin at this moment in time. Okay, I'm going to take a quick break for the news. Then we're going back on the full list after last night. - I was going to try and say something. - Oh, I need my bed, go to the news. - Nope, that is sore. I was so late for the season as well. - You're up early. - Ah, thanks. - Fierce. - This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen live weeknights from five on go. - Let's go. - This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Call, await, await at 17, 17, 700. - Let's go. - Eight o'clock tonight is the super cap real Madrid against Atalanta. That'll be some game to watch while you're listening to Jocal Day. Let's go in the Lions Bunny Ferguson, happy to grant and Paul saw to keep you there waiting during the news, but Paul, good evening. - You can pull that, let me keep up the date with you. So I've got some out here. - You're up to date on go. Paul, what are we going to say? You're Beloved Rangers last night, and can you believe it? - I'm trying to face my wants, like, in the sense of, I grew up at a period of dominance for angels and I grew up with people like Barry Ferguson, who are so teary, but chilled, blah, blah, if you're going and running on. And to have a throw, I think, you know, that has to arrange us in no fault on the bad things. You've got to just keep calm and stuff like that. Throw up, I believe in all that, but the more I read about it, I just feel like we're back today, but you'd probably call me here in the fine forms and all that, the better. That's what it feels like, it's the back wall after, the back wall after the back wall. And I don't see anybody else to go this this season. I mean, I've got the new season ticket and everything. And I just, I lost the club and everything else, but I feel the sudden, not really at boardroom level. I don't know, you've got it. From what, in any way, I'm all going to beat him. I was probably meeting him a bit more about it, but Janice had, she can't play. They won't play on Janice had, she, because apparently, please, I gave him the contact, gets renewed just more money. - Yeah, someone else mentioned that. There's a rumor about that. We don't know if that's true, but what else? - Yeah, I've heard the same, I don't know exactly because listen, it's private and confidential contracts, but I have heard that, that is a situation, but that could only be something like that. - Yeah, because you would be playing them. - Yeah, he's better than the players that's playing shit. - Yeah, I said that, Janice, I don't know what Paul thinks. You've probably watched him in the Euros as well. Paul Romanian, I just thought maybe it would be a start. A new start, it was a little sign in a new player, because obviously, he'd been away in loan and he looked fit, he looked comfortable to me. But listen, obviously the manager. Like, no fans here, but there's no part of the plans. That's what it looks like and it looks to me if he's gonna be on his way. And that's one of the look to get money in. He's certainly worth a few quid. Had you, as I said, he's an international player, he's just played at the Euros and he's got a lovely left foot. There's no doubt about that. And he's the one that can unlock doors and a final third. That's where I'm watching a game last night that Rangers maybe struggle, they'll be a bit in that final third. That'd be a bit in magic and there was four and a half, five million pounds at stake last night. So that's a good point, Paul. If that is the case, it still should have been worth it. What else are you thinking? - Well, two things, I was gonna say, one from a fifth, Paul, I'm putting a few in the other one from the Europlique putting food. This might sound crazy, right? And I know we're all about money in Scotland and other towns, but I think it's my power. So I said, "Oh, my back to the usual first is Sunday, first is Sunday, my back to the third is Sunday, "my back to the third is Sunday, my back to the third is Sunday, "my back to the third is Sunday, my back to the third is Sunday, "when's the Tuesday type of thing." I was just not getting knocked out, Europlique, so much is a lot of going through the final and all active stuff. I'm saving domestic success. I'm a pasture, but I don't care about it. I don't come as money and everything else, but see if you're not in the champs, you're probably going to Europlique a conference or just a distraction. Look at your kill monarchs and marings hearts. I've already suffered last year where it's not great. Last and twice with both teams, that's probably a level. You're up now, I think, it's all a bit money. You just get them as a big choice, you get them money from a football perspective, and I want you to look very thinkless. I must have phoned just you up hundreds of teams, Paul, and I must look raving about it all the time and one about it all the time, but see this style of play. What is this since the days before J-R? It's the same thing. You've got to get the ball to Pavanier. Pavanier, of course, is a ball. I'm going to count to the next time, because I want some paint, right? You must parent it 20 crosses and I don't have any shots you get to go. Why can't I not change it? Self-depraved, and the middle of the part, the bling one of those, they go down the channels to do. They mix it up, probably, but we do the same system every single game. It does not change. Barry, what would you say? I see watching the games that I have, it started the season, been at the preseason games. Me and Granite were actually speaking about it in the office. You see what they're trying to do? A corner ban is going to make it a kind of back three, and they're trying to push their fuel backs high and wide. But at times, it's not working. I can see why supporters like Paul and other supporters I speak to are getting frustrated, because at the end of the day, you want to see the opposition go getting peppered. I don't think you see enough pressure put under the defenses they're playing against, and the go keepers make enough saves. And I thought with a game last night, I thought leading up to it, I thought we're going to be really aggressive, really aggressive in the press, really press some high up the pitch, getting top of them, make the go keep and the defenders defend and the go keep and make saves, and hopefully no make saves, we're a few getting in the back of the net. I can see some game plan starting to happen, as I mentioned, it looks to me of one of the central midfielders is going to go in at a back three, but I was talking about corner band at Granley about it, and obviously both of those have played that position. I think he's done brilliant since he's come in. Just thought he was running about too much, there was no need for it at times, you know what I mean? Just stay centrally and get the ball sometimes if he's making runs for the left and the right. And he's going to end up blowing a gasket. And that's what I thought about it. So I think he's a future really good Rangers player. Just thinking he's a wee bit of guidance, a wee bit of help, and that's what I go back to. The Rangers look to recruit, I think they need a real experienced man in the middle of the pitch to help these players grow as footballers, and he's going to cost money, isn't he? Yeah, right, it might not go about it. Go on maybe, what's the way around about that? Go on maybe look to a loaner player. Yeah. From a club who... Well, maybe one thing. Yeah, sure. Who's maybe 27, 28, 29 year old, who you think, right? You know what, we can't afford them, but it could be maybe afford parties, wages, and pay a loan fee. That's maybe, they need to be creative now, Rangers. Because the money's not there to go and spend well enough. Because there's no Champions League money coming in. So they need to be really creative. And that's an area of the pitch where I think they need to really strengthen. Because I do think, as I mentioned, I do think Deo Mande and Baran are potential going to be really good players. I just think they need that wee bit of guidance. Paul? Well, it'd be 100%. So, I'm at Baranese and that's the experience. But just to say as well, do you know who I think I'm missing in the background? I don't know what Baranese thinks. I think it's a real piece of respect. Steve Davis, Steven Davis. Now, on the part, he was a man. He kept composure, brilliant and old film games. I've missed that type of play. But do you know what I'm missing in the background? I know it has a position in everything else, but he would be buried in that dressing or somewhere about range. Because he's been under what was missed. He's got a hundred more caps from Northern Ireland. He was an immense midfielder. For sure. Peter, what do you think? I said that at the time. I think Steven made it the fact he went round if I'm correct. He went round in Ireland. And I think he was wanting to learn that way and trying to get a job himself. And I'd spend time with the family other times. Listen, it's not understanding the career he's had. He's a magnificent player. But I said that two years ago, I think I said, the only thing that disappoints me, but we've all seen a lot of you the other day there, with Ryan Jack, talking about Morelos. Yeah. And I'm thinking, if they were leaders then, all of this group, because they were all there, let's no big kid in the role in the talk about Morelos. And I said it at the time. You call them out? Yeah, he's like a professionalism. At Rangers Football Club, one, Steven Gera should have been short for it. Because a manager, I know, there's no manager that had to play itself to Football Club that had to be stripped the next day. But it's absolutely no manager that had to be stripped. He's just been taken to task for it. Yeah, absolutely. No, listen, I'll tell you Paul, I've been in the wrong end. I've been in the wrong spot for a few times. Yeah. And for those who missed it, right, Ryan Jack's talked about Cup Final. I'd have been rolling a boot, rolling a training round. And it was late. Is that right? It was the day before a Cup Final, a massive game for your club. Listen, we've all done stupid things in the past. Well, no angels. No angels. But it was a day before a Cup Final. No, he can't do it. This is Rangers Football Club. But that's what I'm saying. I'm talking about leadership. Yeah. So the leadership everybody's talked about, and Ryan Jack, Loonstrom, they were all there. Who pulled him out? Van Brancos lost his job because of him. I'm telling you that now. He was one of the ones when he never turned up for his training after getting sent off against him, as if you remember, and didn't turn up a European Game Rangers. Van Brancos went, thanks very much. He was involved. He get pelt us for it. And then they'll probably lose his job through it. But these boys should have been calling them out. Not calling them out and over and over. And everybody's, it's all right, they've already done over. And you're not away from it now. I remember he came back late two years, two summer girls. Yeah, but that's what I mean. But leadership. Yeah. A lot of people are going to put the managers in the courts here. But, yeah. You need that in the team. Absolutely. You need leaders and guys who are going to pull people out. Listen. I get pulled up a few times while I guys, and I was a captain. I had no issue with that. Listen. They'd be dinged on with them, but listen. They pulled you. Listen, that's no good enough. But it wasn't for a lack of effort. No. But then I would do the same to them. Yeah. But I'm on about it. Yeah. Listen, you've got to have leadership when people step out of line, need to kick them back in and touch. But do you think it's a change? That's what I mean. I'm looking at the Rangers. Now that I'm thinking. Where? They're asking, "Did you be fair to me, boy, Barn?" He gives a bout and he's talking. Yeah. He even did him on there. You see him pointing at the players on the pitch, trying to get a bout and see what he's doing. But he's telling where to go, Barn. And he's trying to tell. He's just committing the club and he's a kid. Paul, you heard Peter there saying about Stephen Gerard should have been taken to task about the Morellas turning an hour and a half late for training just before a Cup final. And Barry said he'd been rolling around with them when he did the right for training. Paul, give him a cent away. The manager would have sent him home and said, "You're not even involved in a Cup final." You've got finals going. You've got people are kidding on the fans then, or have been at that point. Absolutely. Paul, get back on. Yeah. What I think my message to the guys thinking, "That's when I leave you this one." Game's sinister and a few in another. Yeah, we heard that. No, we mentioned it. Talk's good. That's fine. Right. Yeah. I, from that, what I'm saying is, I've told you before when Cup won't come in, I said, "That's a test. It'd be to win the League in blah, blah, blah." I've not had a proper management team since Walter Smith. I'll tell you who else you're missing in the background. See my body thinks. See people like Jimmy Bell. He would have been a massive influence for him just because he would have put, he was the type of guy I would imagine. People say it's a cap man, but he's so, so, so important in my cup in the sense that he'll bring the young guys in the corner barn and say, "Right, this is the Rangers. We're blah, blah, blah." We're missing all of that and we don't have, come on, doesn't it if any support? He's a lot of dreams, doesn't he? He's all that, but, and I know he's at the end there and things like that, but it's no the same. We're missing a huge amount of Rangers. I don't know what he called, but Rangers, interior or heart and blood. When you look at Celtic, you've got John Kennedy, William Bunderman and Neil being there all through and through. They've got the Lisbon lines and blah, blah, blah. They've got all that heritage and we don't have that. And it may sound very philosophical and what I'm saying, but I honestly do think that like see Jimmy Bell and people like that, we're missing so much. And I think Walter Smith, Morelos with the, my dad, I think he's a 75 year old and my dad says, "You know what, this is compacted John, drag this." No, in the sense that that end is going to drop back time and it's going to have to take something moment to change that. It's going to get an investor to come in the board. The board need to sell up. We need some investment. Where that comes from? I don't know, maybe this is your actual title. It's the place. I did ask last week as an investment coming in. Barry, what would you say, obviously, just about the heritage that is missing? Yeah, I agree that you have got to have Rangers-minded people about the club and there's no doubt about it. And then personally, Celtic, there's no doubt you need people who know the standards. It's all about standards. And that's something that I think the club will always need. And it's the same kind of, I'll say the same thing about Celtic. We'd be great. We'd be great nearly mocking the great John Clark, kept man, you know, everybody. But I look at the Celtic team. There's not many Scots boys in it. I see them fighting and scratching because they know what's expected. They demand off the supporters as they are. So it doesn't need you to buy Celtic supporters. I don't mean that. But they've got men on the pitch. They've got Karlamut leads it. They've brought another experience running in Kasper Schmichael. Again, you know, they've got James Forrest who's played 500, 600 games. So they're all running about it. You don't really need to say much. It's just the way you get about your business. You need a group of players who manage your dress. Absolutely. You get a bunch of Jack Butler. If I was... Yeah, but it's not a point. The point I'm trying to make Paul is, this happened. And none of them done nothing. But they're on a podcast talking about it. Do it when you're their son. You're all complaining about it when you're there. Tell them, are we home? You're not playing inside? I was when I heard that I didn't even know what to think. Well, I'll be honest, we have a speechless. That's a captain of Rangers with one trophies. And he was speechless. But they think they're boasting about it. It's rubbish. A professional footballer cheating a football club like that. They're ridiculous. And it would never have been accepted with the players. Never mind the staff. It just wouldn't have been accepted with the players. Because, even if you've got that, that's why it's faced us. That's why you don't win trophies. And I say situations like that. We've all made mistakes. Listen, I made one of the biggest mistakes at Scotland. And that ended my Rangers career. Yep. Exactly. And I was out, away for two weeks. Get fined. And then, obviously, I had to leave the club, which was hard-making. But at the end of the day, there was only one person at fault. And it was myself. But that'd get dealt with. There and then. Walter called you in. Didn't they? Yeah, they're too straight. Straight. You knew you were in trouble. Listen, I knew you had messed up. There's no doubt about it. Look, everybody makes mistakes. I made a huge mistake. But, listen, I could deal with it and then bang. And that was me done. And that was in Scotland, duty. But he said, "I'm done." "I'm done." Wow. But I had no deals to blame apart from myself. Yeah. But that's one story we had about LA. We know there was loads more. We know that. But people were saying, "No, no. Nothing's not put on waiting all the rest." He came back. He missed the Champions League court. When I had, you know, it's like, get it fired through at your phone. You were saying, I mean, it was nonstop. My phone had gone wild. Wild for a couple of hours. And when I actually read it, do you know what? I just didn't know what you'd say. I didn't know what you'd say. I'd just kind of believe it the day before I... You know, so bad. I thought it came out poor off of Ryan Jack. Is that getting better? I thought it came out poor off of Ryan Jack. Because... Because he was part of it, wouldn't it? It's not funny. You know what? You just said, "Gather, we don't want him." Listen, what am I doing? Listen, summed up the next day, didn't he? I can't remember the cop feeling. But a similar dangerous play drill in their own cell team. It was just graceful. Absolutely poor. And there was a silence. There was a kind of wall of silence. But they kept telling me, "Is this that?" And the next thing, it doesn't matter, Paul. If you're not professional, no matter what your football job is. Nobody should need to tell you about a dangerous football club once you're in the building. Nobody should need to tell you about a Celtic football club. It smells that you know what you're representing. And as I say, I'm 59 years of age. Never. And I know at this time, I'm still representing them. And they're respecting them, because people always remember that. And you've always got to show that respect. Because your name is always put to be the same. And it's the same with a body. And it doesn't be a body fair, because there is no body fair, because they're burning them black, or whatever. It'll always be a body fair, because they're angels. And that's what you're representing. I mean, I'm back at a club doing the embarrassing stuff. And you've got to represent the club in the right manner. You know what I mean? That's what it's all about. It's all about standing. The big thing that I always get to do with him, is always get driven in him. He was standard, standard. See, below-day standards, you get dealt with. I just couldn't believe he was selected when I heard the story. I never knew the story, obviously. But when I heard the story, I just could not believe the minds I selected him. Talking about Morell is here. Yeah. For the Cup final. Yeah. Because they did not help. If I'm right, I'm not. And he said they held up training for him. And then he turns up, and then he comes out on it apart. The lase is not undone, and wanted to join in the football team. It's been a long time. It's been a long time. He's been doing a warm-up. Oh, dear. I could only imagine my address. I would have been like, you know, the manager. The manager wouldn't even tell him when he comes to that front door. Just tell me, turn around again. He's can going to be home. That's what it happened. I don't want to see him again. That's what it happened. Let the club deal with it. Barry is an ambassador of the club. Then you mentioned it there. What would you say? Just now. You've seen so much over the years. Good times and bads. Mainly good times. What's the way forward? Because the fans, they love the football club. They'll always stick behind if football club does not. So, do they get taken for granted? The fans? Yeah. No. Why do they get taken for granted? Well, you're saying they'll still be there. No, they'll do it through good times, bad times. They'll always be there, Paul. That's good at them. But they're not for the cut final in time. For sure. Yeah. Exactly. That's the difference, Paul. Honestly, I'm just thinking back. Look at the... The video. Yep. What I get sent, it's... Yeah, it was... Oh, it was a sword one to watch. And that's my annoyance. Because all the boys were there. And we have to probably just shoot for this group now. Yeah. And I can see a bit of mine just trying to do a bit. Now you're talking about it like it's a corner ban. I don't know what corner knows in about Rangers as background. But the wee kids went in there and just tell me it's enthusiasm. We've run a bout trying to make things happen. I like it. You know, whether he's a good player in different... I think it's a matter. At least he's shown an enthusiasm to play for Rangers. These guys were already there. Oh, these so-called big leaders. The kids and all their leaders were this. No, you've won two trophies I think in the 20 year. To be fair to the wee man, he's shown a real hunger. I like his attitude. And listen, that should be a given for me anyway. You should always have a talk about attitude. But I do. I think he's done himself proud of the doors because it's always difficult. There's nothing like Rangers are Celtic. There's a lot of pressure, a lot of expectations. But the young man showed up. Even when he gave the ball away a couple of times last night, he still goes to go and get it. And I've got a lot of respect for that. Absolutely. He doesn't hide. No, he doesn't. He doesn't. I just think he would come on, Paul. Yeah. Leaps and bit. I was just watching it last night. I was just thinking these two. And then, by the way, a pitch. I just think, go and get someday. Listen, it will come down to finances, obviously. We've spoken about that. But that is, you can try and be creative in the market and go. And I'm sure there's an experienced guy. We're about to know how he's been about the game a long time. Surely there's something out there. I was ranked my brains last night, and I'm still ranked my brains. I'll come up with one and fly, if you both promise to go. Yeah. A poor city, Barry. He would forego. You're up a league. So, it's going to be there. It's going to be the easiest. It's going to be the easiest. Listen, your bread and butter is a league. That's your first day of preseason. You have your big meeting as. That's a focal point. But champ is league great money, but there's also decent money in the Europa League as well. So, you want to have a decent me run. They bring a few quid in. And that's the way it is, because the club needs to bring money in. And you think about, if you get a decent draw yank about the 50,000, I was going to say, I don't know if I'm going to be back. But you're going to get sellout. You're going to get gate receipts. Hospitality. I've heard a bit of revenue going to fire up. If you do, I'm not saying go deep in it, Europa League, but if you go through two or three rounds. But it's different now. It's no rounds. It's somewhat the Champions League. There's four home games and four away games. There's still a bit of money to be made in the Europa League. But nowhere near like the Champions League, obviously. But the Champions League, for me, I wouldn't care if we're getting a bit comfortable. But he's so poor. Real Madrid's led to go. Madrid's Barcelona's, whatever. You want it being against the best, trying to beat them. That's what you want it to do. Trying to beat them. We go back a couple of years ago, when both Celtic and he's running Champions League. Then where's the night? You know, it was Celtic and then it was Rangers. Brilliant for the Scottish game. We were all excited in here. Work for results. And yeah, we get bloody noises a few times. For sure. But I would rather that than being the Europa League or the Conference League or whatever. There's absolutely no doubt. And people say that's a level. No, but see, if you want it to be a level, that's where you'll end up, probably below. You want it being the Champions League at all times and learning and learning and trying to get better. And it's impossible to match these guys. Let's know, be kidded. It's impossible. I would rather have the Tuesday rounds than the eight games. And that's how we came in. In a Thursday, in a Sunday. But you know what, it is what it is. And they needed us to sell us down. That's what's going to be happening going forward. But I'd forget about that. It's sad. I'm concerned about 545 against St. Johnson. They need to make sure they turn them over. Big style. And make sure you're in the next round. Oh, eight. Oh, eight. 17, 17, 700. The lines are red hot tonight. People want to speak to Barry and Peter after last night. And they're looking forward to the League Cup this weekend as well. And we've got the Super Cup tonight. Talk about that briefly next. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Let's go. Let's go. Number one for Glasgow. And the West, this is Go Radio, the football show coming from the heart of Glasgow just over the bridge into the south side in the Gourables. Peter Grant is here. Barry Ferguson too. Lots of comments coming in about Rangers last night. And why they've gone out with the Champions League. Sure, nobody's happy with the Italian referee. But also, Rangers were kind of expected to do more to go through last night. But it's not to beat your upper league now. Super Cup tonight. Peter, Barry, looking forward to that one at Atlanta, who surprised everybody last season, winning it up against the one and only Real Madrid. But the performance and the final was magnificent. But the thing, we're all looking for is Pappy. Is he going to play minutes tonight? Is he going to start? You know, because it's interesting how he plays that front three, with Rodrigo, Vanessa, and obviously Pappy now. It's barely going to take part. Because I was really disappointed with him in the Euro as well. That was just, the boy was burnt out. I'm not sure. I just think he was a bit petulant throughout the Championship, you know. And as if everybody else was to blame him, that was the first time I'd seen that with him. I hope he stops up very quickly. And he gets refreshed in the summertime because there's no doubt he's a really talented player. He was back training last week, Barry, and he's in the sports. Oh, and he's in the sport. He's in the sport. More interest in the front three for Rangers. And five, five, five, and seven. I'm OK. I'm not kidding, but we haven't done that. They are in bad time. I'm trying my best. I'm trying my best. He's not coming to Rangers, does he? Well, I don't know. Yeah. You know. Well, listen, that's what it does. This is a Rangers captain who was successful. This is the things we're talking about. We are saying, this is what it takes. It's got to hurt you. You've got to fight. And these boys last night, I would not criticize one of them because you know everyone in the game at all. You know, what they need now is an amoly, total experience he played at hand and how difficult it was. It really was, because it's not your spiritual home. And there's no getting away from that. No worries. You know, it shouldn't matter in the respect to that. As players, he's 100% right on the pitch. That's true. But definitely the atmosphere that gets made at Iberaux in Celtic Park is night and day compared to Hampton. This is going to be interesting, Saturday. Rangers won. What's the crowd going to be like? Which, how many is going to talk? Because the Rangers fans look as if they don't even like going there already and they've only played the one game there. And the playing St. John's. If they go out the cup in Saturday. What are you trying to do, Tim? No, no. No, but you know what I'm saying? Do you know what I'm saying? This is the point I'm trying to make, Paul. What do you do then? Sure. Because you're okay, you're still trying to get players in. And that's why we're talking about haggies and can't whales not. If they're betting what you've got, should you still be using them because you're paying them? For me, the answer would be 100%. See, look back last night. You can't fault the boys that were out in the pitch. They tried their best. All they need is a bit of help. They need a bit of quality. And it's easy for everybody to see. So hopefully in the next couple of weeks, that kind of changes and the manager can do a bit of business in the transfer market. But in terms of the sum-thinkable, yeah. The sum-thinkable look at a defeat. The Rangers need to really go out and basically smash it. See, I was laughing at the boys in their own. It takes them back to the 80s. Yeah. In the respective Rangers. But what did they do? They went out and bought a team and get him as soon as come in. Bang. England captain. Different days, wasn't it? Trevor Stephen, Gary Stephen just won the league Everton. Bang. We know these England European games at that particular time. We know Colin West keeps getting to talk about his first sign. But look at this, the next one's golf and all these guys. I remember he was a Tottenham, wasn't he? Exactly. He's coming to the Rangers at that point. And there's a parish. He's already made players. I don't think Rangers in that financial position to do that. Yes, there's players still out there. But I'll look at proper last night, I'm saying. What is he, 30 years of age? Is that the sort of leader? But it's difficult. You know, it's different. Rangers is different. Celtic's different, you know, in the respect to that. You don't get time to break yourself in. I use the world. They need to be really creative. They need to come up with solutions to try and get players through this. Players through the door, whether it's loans or go to a loan. A player we have, buying them, maybe, at the end of the season. Something like what they've done with Dale Mandy in January. Good business. Yeah. Well, it looks like it's going to be a good business. So that's what they need to do. They need to be really creative in the market. Because look, the money's no there. The money's no there. They're going to spend big polls. So I'm sure the manager's writing his brains just now. He obviously knows what he wants to strengthen. But obviously it'll come down to finances. And he'll have his contacts as well. Barry, 30 years in football. He said it last night. Yeah. You know, he's won three titles. Yeah, he's got experiences. Yeah, he's got experiences. No doubt. He's, you can see him. He's enthusiastic. He's desperate to do well. But you need the tools? I don't tell you, Paul. Both of us are being management. You've got your power. Even guys you know. Working at football clubs. Listening any chance of getting such and such. Even though he's your best mate, he's going to turn you down at times. Because it's no possible. That's a fact. Oh, yeah, you can get him. But you need to pay his full wages. Even though he's your best mate. Because they've got a business to run. It's not as simple as that. Even though he's got a lot of contacts in the game. Yeah. But know that. But you've got to pay the wage. Because we're not paying the wage. You know, and that's a bottom line. And I'm about to eat. Did the chairman not do an interview. The other week they really said you're talking about the training ground. You're talking about the stadium. Yeah, two weeks ago. But all of a sudden you've not got the stadium. You show them now. No. You know, that's that's that that that party's already changed already. So you've got the training ground. You show them. Oh, yes. We've got a stadium here, which is brilliant. A magic atmosphere. But you used to take players along. We sent the cannula. Oh, my God, rest them. Tamed the cannula. You watch your game. And we I can't remember what game it was. Come on. And I think. I don't game. I think we're turning on down Paul. I mean, one, four, two. I think it was. You know, Paul was. And Paul just thought that David atmosphere and the crowd and all that. And it's, I'll tell you, what a difference that makes the people. It's common. Yeah. I brought myself to the park when they see that woman playing in front of this. This is magic. You know, all these things. Now they've not got that. So there's another problem for them. Oh, but I'll wait till next year. That's what these players will be saying. So trying to get that. It's not going to be as easy as people think. Who's it going to be, Benny? Benny, keep. Yeah. I mean, obviously watching the chair and fair play. I mean, come out and he spoke open and honest about the situations. He can't keep losing 10 and a half now. He can quit every year as well. So they need to cut. Obviously, the wage bill is one of them. So yeah, it's going to be, it's going to be tough the next short period of time. But I just hope they can come up with solutions in the next couple of weeks. Because the squad does need to help Paul. When you're watching it, it does need to, you've got to start the living. If it's not going according to plan, you need to really look at the bench. You need to make sure there's difference makers there as well. Who would go left back now? But if you all messes up, you see, I'm unfortunate. Well, when Davis obviously come on there last night, that would be the automatic one. But these ones they're linking go there as well. I mean, he can play. Kind of. Anyway, come on wide left. He didn't even look. I mean, he's had a few injury niggles during pre-season. I just like coming in the middle of the pitch. But let's not be interested to see what he goes with. He can go there. Yes. I think he'll be the automatic choice for Saturday. But that's one of the games. Saturday, I'm looking forward to see what the actual stand 11 is going to be. Because as I said, Paul, it's a son-thinkable way to get out there. First, because we say you know, I know Paul will probably ask you in Friday. But what you're team, you know, you're looking at it and you're thinking to yourself, well, the players will have got available. Okay. What would a team would have put out? What would a start was? You know, I'm looking at it and I can't think. Are you just teaming at this point? Yeah, it will. But then to have a nice sort of proper f day. Stroke Davis. I would go a midfield three of Sterling, Baron, Del Monte further forward because he's got good legs. I would go sternly. Dersos. And. Lawrence. Yeah. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yep. My co-hostment. All right. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. It's difficult. You know, when it's last year, you'll be able to say, well, I did that. Yeah. And I'd maybe put him in on that one. Right. Said as well. I mean. I would definitely. That would have been my middle three. My midfield three. We could do it. Me. Yeah. I'm looking at it last night, Paul. I'm only. It's easy for us. You've been a manager a coach. You're looking at the organisation. Yeah. How could it change us to try and win this game? Because if you're ever putting a situation yourself, and I thought you should just point her back three. I thought I thought you could have put Davis on pop in the middle and John Sutter. Then it went with having a year and it yelled my eyes. He almost said that. I was yelled my stomach. But even if it wasn't yelled my eyes, I'd have stopped even sterling out there and said, listen, just get followed as much as you possibly can. Then that allows you to get somebody further up near our desks. You know, in that period of time, we're still organised defensively, you know, but you've got people to get forward. We thought that would be a comeback. That's when I think, yeah, if they could play there, you know, on that left hand side because your own mind is not available now. So you could play now. So it still gives you good legs in the middle of the pitch. You know, you still have three bodies in there, plus a striker, but you could put one closer to the striker. And I think Rangers definitely need more bodies in the box, but I'm looking at it. You can put crosses in as much as you want. You can have James. And the boys, right? Earlier on. James Tarvin, you're putting cross in after. There's only one target you've got to hit. I just can't see him changing information. No, it's not. That's what I'm saying about it. I think sometimes now, it circumstances dictate more, you'd almost like to play a certain way, but certain times, situations dictate to you how to try something. I would put the O'Mandy one further forward. You prefer? He likes to run, he likes to, and as I said, let runners, the midfield defenders absolutely hate. Because you know what's going to happen? John's not going to come and make it tough, he's going to sit like Clevene's an experienced manager. He's going to set him up, give it a straight, and you need a bit of patience, but you need a bit of magic in the final third as well, and I'm saying magic, can't well and had you. The other ones that can unlock, and they're not going to play, they're not involved either. They're surplus. He did say a couple of weeks ago that can't well, yeah, he's up for transfer, but there's no play there in the game. He's not. He's not. Is he training with them? Don't think so. I honestly don't know. I know had you played with a B team last year, last year, last week, and scored the heart trick. So obviously, he said a bit of game time, but can I tell you, B game, B football is not the same as, obviously, first team football. So I'm going to the game inside of the, and listen it's a must, I mean, after the games I must want you to have to make sure the absolute batter St Johnson, they'll be a bit emboldened after their win St Johnson. Yeah, they'll fill a coin for him, he's going down to Commando, I know Commando got a man sent off, but listen, it's still 3.0 win. So they'll come through. The front two draws you a problem. Yep. They're powerful, they're strong, they're direct St Johnson pay to suit them. You know the actual play suit. I think St Johnson best players know he's in playing in Greenham Carey, because he doesn't please coming off the bench. Yeah, he's left. You know, and he's a danger, but the way they play at this moment time is suiting them. And I've watched the Commando game full, and the game has come out a bit of a doon. Do you like Cydebae? Yeah, long throws. Everything like that, you know, they mixed it in every aspect. Everything goes down. Sorry, I'm just being... Yeah, I'm not saying that well, I'm just talking about the performance I've seen them last week. Yep. They've made it really difficult for you to talk about somebody trying to buy one of you, the strikers. Yeah, that's right. Cydebae. Already? Yeah, because you have to get a go, and he's caught in track, so he may be not even involved in the weekend. Adam has been on the social scene, Barry. Is there going to be investments at Rangers, because these days, major clubs have major investors? Yeah, I'm sure the chairman and the board the directors are always looking. Like, any board should be, so I don't know, I'm not privated about what happens inside the boardroom, but I would hazard, I guess, that they're always looking to get more investment in the club, because obviously, if you get more investment, that helps. We'll just, the football team, that helps the club as a whole. The whole club. Oh, that was my worry. That's my worry, Paul. You hear Graham soon is speaking, and Graham, as I say, is done tremendously well for him at that time when he came in and changed it completely for him. When he was saying the other day, they kept doing this, and it was a wee bit concerned. Now, if I was a Rangers fan watching it and he's talking about maybe they're starting to listen to the manager now. That was concerning when he said that line. I'm sure that was a line he used. I couldn't understand. Would you mean? Yeah, exactly. I couldn't understand that, and I'm thinking, well, it was Graham not part of the process, because he was talking about Frank Lampard. So even say, Graham. And he was definitely part of the process of the new manager from him. That's him. So say, Frank Lampard, get that job, and then found out all these problems. That could have been in the Frank's career, in the respect to that, because people say, I had struggled there, I struggled there, it was at Chelsea, never done this, and never done that. And all of a sudden, he has told something that's completely different. That could have been him. So worry for me, it's when Graham comes out and says, I didn't see enough football people and I'm thinking, wow, that's incredible. If he's somebody head stature, who you think, if I was needing help at this moment in time and how this football club should be run, that's one of the first people you should be talking to and making sure he's there all the time. For sure. But back after this. It's the good radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. This time tomorrow night, we'll be here with Craig Moore and Leanne Creighton on the show. That's tomorrow from five. We've been talking mainly about Rangers after that game last night, finished up 2-0 for DynamoCayev and they go through. The other game, Barry, was ended up a draw and Salzburg just inching ahead on aggregate. Yeah, two good teams in that. I said Monday night. I thought the draw was favourable to Rangers when it came out and obviously, what was the first game? I thought they were OK, DynamoCayev, then last night I just thought they were there for the team. So I think it's a missed opportunity, certainly, the first athlete that I certainly descend in off after five minutes of the second half, doesn't help. But yeah, two good teams in 2020 and Salzburg, but if you get through there, you would fancy your chances. You would fancy your chances. It wasn't to be. Peter, in the last few minutes, there's more reports coming out at Atlanta. And again, for Matt to Royal, it's not quite Celtic's valuation of £25 million, but I think it may be around £23 million with some add-ons. It's in the ballpark now. What are you saying is going to happen? Listen, a fantastic piece of business when you look at when Celtic was at 1.5, they paid for Matt. He's been outstanding. We've talked about his attitude, read-through, pre-season. He's done everything properly. And if it comes to the fact that the club can agree a few with him, obviously, Celtic supporter wanted me to stay, but he said he's headscrewed on, he's done the right things. And if I had to allow him to come up with the money, then it'll be up for the choice because Matt wants to go there. I think he should go abroad if he's going anywhere for me. I think he should go to Spain or Germany or something like Italy and see how, because he's only a young man. He's a talented boy that is absolutely no doubt of that. I think Atalanta, Tom, it could mean us at the top of my mind. I don't know if people want him apparently, so could mean us to go to Anthony. And he's a different type of player, we're talking about getting replacements for Matt, but could mean us with different player favour. Matt is at Atalanta, but he's a quality player, he's proven he's self-read, but he's a quality young man. I think that's the thing that's proven. We'll talk a bit earlier on a bit of a miraculous situation and guys know playing and they'll turn on up, the one thing he's done, he's not concerned, touched with any injuries or scared in case I can't get a move because that can happen. The training will never mean anywhere else. So great credit to him. And if he does move on, I'm sure he'll go with the Celtic fans, the less and the ways about his business. Doing a loose Ferguson, heading to Italy, okay, different stage of his career in that loose went from Atalanta, what a club to join, giving these the first two against Liverpool and they were very impressive, he's there like Anfield, well it's good, they're a tonne leg, but look, I think Atalanta in football would suit Matt O'Reilly down the arty, sitting down in action tomorrow night in the conference league, it's going to be tough isn't it, playing in brand, it's going to be tough off there. They've been looking pretty decent, when I was watching the highlights, they look pretty decent, so that's going to be a look, it'd be great for the coefficient of both sitman and come on, look go and find a way to get through into the next round, but I think it's going to be tough for both of them. Peter, what do you reckon first time? I think it would be tough for both of them, you know, but the one thing, I think the way that come on and St. Marin play gives them a chance, they do get bodies in the box, they do have two strikers up there, they give you something to play off, I think maybe Derek would give back to back three maybe for that particular match, if he's got everybody available because he's had a few injuries obviously, Stevie's doing that, a yunga and that cosy problems because they chase, they hurry, they make you make mistakes, and they'll not be scared to ask questions, and they've always had such a big side now through one set place, which a lot of the foreign teams don't really deal that well with, so if they get areas of the pitch, but if I debate then I'd say I'd more fancy something to go through than I would come on, and I know it sounds weird, but I'd think St. Marin maybe would just have even low, I thought, Ron may have a very good football side, but I think you've got you upset them. All the seniors are handful, isn't it? Yeah, the front guys, anyones are changing, all cos you have problems, but they know what they're doing, we're talking about bodies getting in the box, Paul, they ask questions off you, and that's what I told the Rangers, we don't feel as if they offer you, ask you enough questions. I see Derek McInnes was asked, Trump's all got time off at the weekend Barry, they didn't have to play, but he said no, I'm not having that, we just got on with it, they've had it tough, you mentioned Joe Wright getting sent off was really difficult for them. I don't know what he's doing, but at the same boot, why after you've been booked five minutes before that, just staying your feet, I'm sure Derek would have been saving that decision that the defender made, cos you're up against it, certainly that early in the game, what was it, 15, 16 minutes in the game, so it was always going to be tough, but don't take it away for St Johnson, still got to go and score goals and make sure they run and they've certainly done that. Peter, you're not going to be with us till next week, so Barry and I will be together again Friday, just want to ask you about some of the games going up this weekend, Thorcuk against Hartz, so what are you thinking on that one? Thorcuk has started the season very well, but I think Hartz will beat them, I think Hartz will be too strong for them, yes. I think they've had a disappointment last week, and I'm sure Stephen had a few choice ones of these team in the respect to that expectation, if you remember the week before when the boy Yandanda said about winning the league, I said okay then, very good, you've got to just win your games, another main thing else, so that's what you found out very, very quickly in football, Paul. Why come out with the comments like that, just keep, see if you think, just keep them in the house, absolutely. I don't see any need to come out and say things like that, cos you know what, it comes back and smash in the face. Let me ask you both a different question about it, or I'll ask you some more, out with the holders' Rangers and Celtic, who could win the league cup? Is there anyone there you fancy will make it all the way to the final and may well win it? The interesting thing is, when you look at the likes of Albert Dean, the manager's trying to bring the support and the players together, I don't know, Barry and I have done that, it's difficult because you end up with injuries, and all these guys, you know, and it's for whatever reason it just didn't work. The manager's trying to get that. You're simultaneously at the weekend. Yeah, exactly. And that's important for them, and obviously, I think he brought an experience in Shini, and is it Nielsen, the boy brought an experience in Central Medfield that some of the baddies talking about that may be dangerous, but they're Shini and him sitting there, and they just picked up the right areas of the pitch. So when the ball was cleared, they picked up and put it back in there, and it was interesting to watch it, and you talk about that when you buy that experience of baddies talking to a baby cornard, Baron, we'd need a loan with him at Rangers. And how different it's made, Albert Dean in the early part, and I'm not saying that's who's going to win it, but I'm just saying there's a difference to them, that it seems to be a bit of still to them, only centred back, maybe such as you call him, always think he puts him into Thomas Rep, guys, he's always got a moment in the game, that he's going to let you down, you know, and he'd done it again, it's Saturday with the last moment, the first half was it, when he's sitting there and getting toe-poked into the net, so that's more of a concern for them. But Albert Dean made it, Albert Dean, Barry, away from the big two. No, I can't see him there. One in the trophies that she had apart from, I get it out of Rangers, I get it 100%. I'm trying to think of something. So that seems like it's going to be the old firm final, yeah, but I don't know what you mean, yeah. Listen, you've got it out of ambition, but I just look at the teams and look at the hearts of the good start, again, Rangers start this season, but then swap them down, send concessions and say, and I think the hearts have got good players, and I think that Jimmy, what's his name, Jimmy, Teline, Teline, Teline, he obviously done a good job previously where he was, and it looks to me if he's got something maybe starting to brew up there, but I just don't think there'll be any competition for Rangers or Celtic this year. I think that's it, Paul, in Celtic Rangers don't draw each other. I was thinking both of them are going to be nothing. Yeah, sure. Of course, that's that. For Celtic, any worries, well, I'm not going to say any worries for you this weekend, but let's see, but Kyle going off at the weekend there, he was what the manager said on Sunday. Yeah, he had, I think his shoulder went in, and obviously the guy's just trying to put it back in again, but he's felt the pain, so we didn't want to risk that, so hopefully it'll be okay in a couple of days. Is that your game on Sunday? Are you doing? Yeah. Listen, Kyle has been outstanding, but I thought as I kept saying it, you're actually, I thought it was terrific. Yeah. But the one thing I liked about him in the last few games is he's dropped more for the rate time now, and it will be a raise of the pitch, and he's picked the rate selection. He's not turning, trying to dribble with it. Second turn, as I say, with his shoulder, that's what Paul consistency comes to be having your good players available, and that is the different Celtic, when their good players are available. Look at a completely different team. Is either going to be here for the game? Yes, they will be. Thank you. Your contact. Yes, he dealies away. Yeah, she's getting 10%, listen, that is brilliant, she's not taking money. They're not. They have a dead Paul. They have a dead Paul. Did you ever cook your meal? Yes. She did. That's a funny thing. There's a couple of things around her. Where did she cook? Where did she cook? Yeah. Very basic. Like steak pie or whatever. But do you know something? I was making it cooked. I remember you said that. Yeah. It was brilliant. We used to get out of the way. We used to get out of the way. The two men. The best people you could make. The best people you could make. Honestly, it got in. Yeah, if I was like this. We'll do that. No, you lost your time there. She was brilliant. And listen, I think the club will never be as well-run and I don't care who it takes over it. They'll be a dealier network because they've done everything for Norwich Football Club and went to every game. And mum was 90 odds when she still went to every single game. Wow. Let's be having you. Absolutely. And she liked to be drunk. Good on her. Barry's loving this because he doesn't have to think about it. Yeah. Let's keep talking about cooking. Yeah. What else did you cook? Yeah. Listen, it's been hard. It's been tight. I've been honest with you. Yeah. I'm suffering. I take it hard. Even if I'm no... I still don't play or whatever. I'm watching that. I'll tell you, as soon as the game finished off, and it must have been the right channel. I was... Yeah. Not happy. Not happy. Is it going to prove? It has to. It does have to be. You take the box out of it. It has to. Because when the last 30 seconds or so, because that... I mean, you can hear it. Yeah. This is going to be a long case. If it changes, it does. We're doing another work today. We'll keep going. Peter. Now, guys, Paul, isn't it nice what you do? When it hurts you so much, as I say, it was a leader of that club. Yeah. That's the way it is when you're going through bad times. It's always the same. And that's why the disappointment, as we spoke a bit earlier on, a bit of players not showing that same respect to the football club. That's when it hurts you. Are you just going to win? Just asking you, Peter. Again, St. Johnson, the Cup on Saturday. I think it's going to be a tougher than people think. Yeah. I do. Who's going through? I think it's going to be a bit tougher than they think. Thank you, Peter. See you next week. Bye. Thank you. See you on Friday. Remember, it's Leanne tomorrow night along with another Rangers great, Craig Moore. Thanks so much, Joe. Cool day is up after the news. This is the Go Radio Football Show.
