The 1Life Podcast with Behka White

Episode 34 - Rainstorms and Gardens

In Episode 34 of the 1life podcast, titled "Rainstorms and Gardens," host Behka White discusses the abundance of information available for learning and personal growth. She likens this abundance to a rainstorm, where we can only catch a few droplets of knowledge while the rest soaks the ground. Behka suggests reframing this abundance as a garden, where everything we learn is a seed planted in the soil of our minds. Some seeds may grow quickly, while others take years to develop. Behka emphasizes that our brains cultivate the seeds we intentionally or unintentionally consume, shaping our thoughts and behaviors. She invites listeners to reflect on what they are learning and actively seeking, considering the seeds they are planting in the garden of their minds today and how these seeds will shape their future.

Welcome to the One Life podcast with Becca White. I am your host and this is episode 34, Rainstorms and Gardens. What are you learning about right now? What is life teaching you? What are you actively seeking out? We live in an age where we can learn almost anything by clicking around. We also have people to learn from and books that are begging to be read, videos, workshops, learners, conferences, all the things. I don't know about you, but sometimes my brain feels so saturated from all the information inputs. I feel like I am dashing through a rainstorm of knowledge, catching droplets while the downpours soaks the ground. I hate that I cannot capture all the wisdom from all the sources. Do you ever feel this way? The rainstorm of knowledge does not really serve us here, so let's have a reframe. Let's imagine instead a garden. Anything we learn, watch, read, discuss, ponder, and scroll through is a seed that gets planted in the soil. Some seeds may grow quickly and mature in a single season. Other seeds may take years to develop, to even break through the ground. One thing is for certain. Each seed will grow into its likeness. What we choose to consume now will determine what we can harvest later. There's a beauty that we enjoy, noxious weeds that we need to remove, and everything in between. Our brains are amazing. Everything we consume gets planted in the garden of our mind. The things that grow the best are the things we intentionally or unintentionally cultivate. So I ask you again, what are you learning about right now? What is life teaching you? What are you actively seeking out? Today's invitation is this. Consider the seeds that you are planting in the garden of your mind today. What will your garden look like tomorrow? Next week. Next year. Are there any seeds that you would add or remove? We only get one life. Let's make it our best. [BLANK_AUDIO]
