What did you think of today's Disney+ news?  Let me know on social media!

Coming up, I'm going to be talking about D23, the ultimate fan event, also talking about the home video release of Inside Out 2, plus also Disney's spending a fortune here in Europe, all that and all coming up in today's Disney+ news, but before we go any further and make sure you do hit that subscribe button to keep up with the latest. I am Schrodger here from what's on Disney+.com and it's time to jump into some of today's big Disney news. And there's a lot of it this week because it is going to be D23, the ultimate fan event, which is taking place in Anaheim, California this weekend. I am not at all jealous that I am not there and I'm yay. So this is a big event, there's going to be lots of stuff going on, tens of thousands of people will be attending the event, there's going to be lots of panels, lots of presentations and stuff. And there's going to be a lot of news coming out of it. Well, I hope so. I will be doing some extra videos over the weekend going through some of the details that come out. It's going to be a busy weekend, I hope. But let's start off with talking a little bit about D23. So I just want to give you a bit of a rundown of how this is all going to work. So later today on Friday, just after 7 o'clock in the Honda Center in Anaheim, there's going to be a special entertainment showcase, which is going to be taking a look at Marvel, Star Wars, also got 20th century Disney, it's going to be covering TV, movie, but also like theaters as well, like a Broadway, et cetera. It's scheduled to be about two hours, should be lots of reviews and stuff being shown to those in attendance and lots of announcements. We also expect to see some trailers being released as well, lots of predictions, lots of stuff that could be. I'm kind of getting skeleton crew and Agatha for all along will be maybe some of the stuff we see, maybe Snow White, lots of other stuff that people in attendance will get to see. Unfortunately, as of yet, no information has been revealed about how any of this is streaming, how any of it from D23. There's one little thing that we'll get into on the streaming point in a minute. Traditionally, they don't tend to do the major studio panels, but they do do other stuff as well. But as of yet, there were had been reports earlier this year that they were planning on doing it with Indus D+, that isn't happening by the looks of it. Well, less things change this afternoon, which I really, really hope for. So like UK time is going to be about like two, three o'clock in the morning. So I'm going to be up late, I think we're going to be about four or five o'clock. I've been to the supermarket this morning, I've got loads of snacks in for tonight. This is going to be a late one. I'll probably have a nap this afternoon, just to kind of get ready, I'm going to do one for this. But yeah, so that's going to be the big one where we're expecting to see lots of stuff. But again, remember, this is a two hour presentation, and it's not like we invest today, which was four hours. It's not like last time D23, which had three two plus hour events, it's two hours. So that will severely limit what's going to be coming out. There hopefully will be some big surprises and stuff, but keep expectations on the low end, and then you should be fine. So I'll be live reporting as much as I can, which information that comes out from Disney. And I obviously have it all up on what's on Disney Plus, wherever I can. And then tomorrow I'll be doing a recap video going over all the major news, et cetera. There's also some other panels taking place on Saturday, there's going to be one for Marvel animation, which is going to focus on like eyes of a condo, what if X-Men, et cetera. There's also a panel for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and a panel for like all the adult animation stuff from Hulu. There's additional panels going on smaller venues as well for like Grey's Anatomy, Abbot Elementary. And on Sunday, there's also a panel in the morning for the Tiana, which might be more connected with Splash Mountain, but if they're going to announce anything about the new series coming to Disney Plus, that would be a strong point of view. Terms of presentations on the Sunday night, it is the Disney Legends presentation, which is basically their version of Hall of Fame, Harrison Ford's going into it, James Cameron, et cetera. On the Saturday night, there's going to be the Horizon's presentation. So this one is traditionally for the theme parks and the cruise lines. They've also announced that this one is going to be partially live streamed through Fortnite. There's not all of it, there's going to be a special island that you're going to be able to log in on and watch part of the presentation exclusively through there. If you go in there, you get a little bag that you have in character, it's not a real one of just Wolverine. This is where I'm expecting they're going to announce details of the upcoming season, which is expected to be themed around Marvel. There's been lots of leaks and stuff with like Doctor Doom, et cetera. They might also reveal some of the stuff that's coming with additional, you know, women they sort of put like billion plus dollars into Epic to create a new like Disney game. We're probably going to hear a little bit more about that one there. This is really disappointing for Disney parks fan. Usually they've been live streaming the event with a lot of expectations of some big announcements for Disneyland, California, et cetera. Also in Walt Disney World, Paris, Hong Kong, et cetera, et cetera. So this one's normally live streamed. So this one has really gone down like a lead balloon among park fans because they were expecting to be able to watch it and now being able to watch bits of it through Fortnite. Not so good. The only good thing is, you know, it makes you download Fortnite in play. I mean, I was playing it through last night. I downloaded a couple of days ago because I knew the marble thing was coming in for a while. I'll kind of get into it. Destiny 2 is kind of new overall. That's going on anymore. So I thought I'd jump into Fortnite and I was playing some full guys levels and I did actually play a game and I became second. So I was rather impressed the fact that I was able to do quite well in battle royal, but nevertheless. But yeah, Fortnite, it's going to hit a different audience of the park fans. I'm really not convinced this is a good idea. Hopefully we get some live stream. So it's very, very strange and not doing anything. This might be to save costs, maybe not viewership, but also try to encourage people to go. But obviously people are at the event are going to be like live streaming and all of that. Now what information comes out of that major panel? We don't know because if they make everyone put all their phones away, we might not get any updates for it. And therefore we might just be relying on Disney putting it out there. So going to be a little bit hit a mess. But again, it's like two o'clock to five o'clock in the morning, UK time. That's why I won't be doing live stream stuff because my wife would kill me if I was chatting and sort of laughing and joking around at that time of the morning doing live stream. Because apparently I am very loud when I do these videos, but so I'll do it a Saturday afternoon. I'm going to be honest. Saturday morning, I am more than likely going to be asleep trying to catch up. But yeah. So that is kind of the run of D23 and obviously I'll be covering all of it over the weekend with any major news, et cetera. So feel free to subscribe to the channel to keep up with it. So check us out over at what's on Disney plus follow us on Facebook to keep up all the latest there. That's all I'll be updating throughout. But let's jump into some other news. It was revealed today that Disney is looking to invest about another $5 billion in content that they're creating here in the UK and also in Europe. They're kind of committing to about a billion dollars a year. Now, while that sounds amazing and obviously for those workers and stuff working here in the UK, that is amazing stuff. It is important to note that a lot of this stuff is actually also going to be mainstream movies and shows. For example, like the Fantastic Four has recently started filming here in London, Snow White was filmed here. All the Star Wars movies, the new one, there's going to be a new one filmed here as well. Deadpool and Wolverine was filmed here in the UK. So that all counts as part of spend rather than just being a billion dollars on like European exclusives for Disney plus. So I think we just, it's still great. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that at all, but it was a bit like, if we take away all the big theatrical releases, how much are there for actually for Disney plus stuff? That's what I'd like to know. But things like Andor season two, that was all filmed here in the UK as well. But it's good for us. But yeah, so it's going to be plenty of UK made content coming from Disney over the next five years. I think that's just going to continue. They need it as well because they can't make everything in the US because of just talent also, you know, the cruise space, you know, if you spread it around the world, you're being able to create much stuff, much faster being all over the place, but it's really good news. Shifting gears. Now let's now talk about inside out too because Disney has announced some details on the home video release. So it's going to be coming out on digital platforms, including Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at home on August the 20th and in a few weeks later, we'll be arriving on physical media, including 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on September the 10th. So if you want to watch it at home, you haven't got to wait too long, only just over two weeks until you can get it at home. It's an amazing box office run, the biggest animated movie of all time, if we discount the Lion King 2019 version. And yes, this one is going to be big. Now the big question is going to be is how quickly does it drop on to Disney Plus? Don't expect it on the 20th because they're going to want to try and cream as much money off of the digital release as possible. I'm thinking it might be more closer to the DVD release. But sometimes Disney does weird things, it's so hard to predict because sometimes they release them at the same time as digital. Sometimes they wait until after the DVD release, sometimes they do it between the releases. Hard to predict. Now, be honest, I was wrong on this. I thought this one wasn't going to be coming to Disney Plus until maybe Thanksgiving. Looks like we're going to be getting it. I would imagine between sort of end of August September. I think it's September is probably more likely, but yes, it's not too long until you can watch it at home. And I think it's going to be a big hit. I mean, how much money it's made. I think there's probably got to the point of how much more they can actually ring out of the box office. It's probably get to that point. They can't make too much more from it, but amazing movie. Really enjoyed it. But let me know. Are you going to be picking up the digital version or you're going to pick up on DVD because I know there's a lot of you that like your physical media or you're just going to wait for Disney Plus. I'd love to hear your thoughts and all that in the comments below. I'm going to go check us out over at what's on Disney Plus.com. Like, follow, and subscribe and I shall see you guys soon. Bye, guys. (upbeat music) [BLANK_AUDIO]
