The zips here in Colville, well, it's under new ownership, well, sort of. We talked with Roy Stetser. He tells us all about the food. My name is Roy Stetser and I'm the owner of Zips in Colville. Although I was a part owner over in Seattle, I have now full ownership and so it is kind of like a new ownership because I wasn't here and now I'm the full owner of everything. We run a lot of fresh food here. Our burgers, we get those daily locally sourced and we wall our own burgers and we also do a lot of other things in-house. All of our sauces are in-house. We make our tartar, our fry sauce, we make our ranch with real seasoning, chives, fresh and we do our own cheesecake here for our hurricanes. We make our own cheesecake with real cream cheese and we do our own mozzarella sticks. So we do a lot of stuff here that just makes food very good and what I really like about zips is that after you eat food here, you feel really good, like some other places you can go and get burgers and you just don't really feel good afterwards or you kind of regret that. But here, it's like eating a homemade burger like you'd make at home. Our burger is still fresh because we are running out of burger all the time so we have deliveries three times a week. Our burgers are always fresh and we ball daily, we press them on the grill and the food is just absolutely crazy fresh and it's also ground chuck and the huge burger guy a little bit. We actually run cheddar cheese on our burgers. Sometimes we'll run out because we go through so much just like with anything but I'd say 90% of the time now it's fresh sliced cheddar, slicing daily. Our turkeys also fresh now too so our sandwiches, our turkey clubs, we are actually grinding our own turkey and slicing our own turkey breasts. We are really changing a lot of things here and we're having quicker drive food times. We're fully staffed, we have twice the staff from when I came in so we take our food quality super serious but we also understand that we want to get our food out and the customer service to be phenomenal here. The food is not microwaved, we're actually doing like real cooking, being cooked right in the order so the quality is excellent and we are just really striving to improve the drive-through times but also you can call ahead. In order ahead, pretty soon we'll have online ordering as well through our website. Legends are brewing over in Seattle as it gets reported that Seattle Children's Hospital had doctors segregated by race during a mandatory diversity workshop. The leaked training materials say the session divided staff into racial caucuses and asked them to explore repressed racial memories and race consciousness. The training that was required for all gastroenterology department employees separated the staff into three groups; white, black and non-black people of color. Well the hospital they are saying this was to minimize harm to our black learners and facilitator. Each group had to complete a racial identity development exercise designed by diversity consultants. White doctors were told to divest from their whiteness and unpack their racial stories. The four workshop series was a social justice lens. Outside consultants were brought in and ran the training. The founder of Do No Harm criticizing these sessions as ideological indoctrination with no evidence of improving health care and warns it could undermine the trust that all patients should have in their health care institution. The incident highlights growing concerns about critical race theory and diversity initiatives in medicine; critics argue these programs threaten medical neutrality and the Hippocratic oath by potentially teaching doctors to prioritize patients based on race. No doubt we will hear more of this Seattle Children's Hospital racially segregating their doctor training. Boise Cascade is hiring. Today my adventures include touring around Naples, Italy. This is an area that I have not been before, in fact in Italy I have not been south of Rome. So first off we're going to be doing some walking around Naples going under the town in some tunnels and looking at historic Naples and then taking a hike up looking to the craters of volcanoes, some of the excavations from the volcanic activity over the years. So tomorrow it's going to be talking about Naples, the tour right now we have just docked at Naples and shortly we'll be heading out tomorrow we'll talk about what things we did and saw in Naples Italy if you ever want to come this direction. You need water, you need focal, fogle pump and supply from the ground up to the pump from the pump to your faucet. Not enough water, hydro fracturing may be the answer, hydro fracturing opens water producing veins to increase flow or maybe an underground holding tank providing a consistent ready source of water. Call the fogle professionals or stop by their sales and service office on the north highway. You need water, you need fogle. Pump and supply, the water professionals. It wasn't the kind of a blowout game that the previous day was but a tenth inning double. If the Detroit Tigers 3-2 come from behind win over the mariners on Wednesday, really was a great win for the Tigers according to their manager. The teams playing for the fifth time in eight days the Tigers won two of three when they were in Seattle or some Tuesday, the Detroit over the mariners 15-1. Managers got service says this one hurts. We know the Tigers are playing well after what they've done to us but we had control of this game and we couldn't finish it off. Detroit trailed two nothing to out in the bottom of the eighth but it was a double and another home run. Detroit picks up the win. Well today it is the wrap-up game of the three game series but this is only the beginning. It is a nine game road trip for the mariners. So they've got a lot of important road games coming up. Mariners started off the game with a one nothing lead and the fifth inning when Polanco had a solid base hit, drove in, Dylan Moore. So game number three with Detroit they finish off that series today, Bryce Miller, nine and seven on the season going to be on the mound for the mariners. For the Tigers it's going to be another one of those kind of unusual bullpen games where a variety of relievers come in and pitch one, one and a half innings. So we'll see how that goes today but a definite kind of a must win day for the mariners with the wrap-up game of the series with Detroit. With that loss to Detroit and the Astros win, the M's now two and a half games behind Houston. So we're getting that time of the season every game really counts. You don't want to let too big of a gap occur. Join us on 92.1 KCRK, Mariner baseball, game three, the wrap-up game with Detroit. Yesterday was kind of an interesting day for the Seattle Seahawks. They did something that they had not done in more than three decades ahead of the road preseason game Saturday against the Tennessee Titans. The Hawks traveled to Nashville a couple days early to take part in a pair of joint practices with the Titans. The teams held their first joint practice yesterday. They'll hold another one today. It marks Seattle's first joint practice against another team since 1991. That's back when Seattle hosted the Atlanta Falcons for a scrimmage in Portland. It was an interesting practice. The lot of game intensity in a joint practice according to those that watched it. It was kind of like watching the game. I'd say it's even a little bit more personal, like if somebody gets beat or something. It's one thing in a game when the crowd screams and yells, but in a joint practice when the whole sidelines erupts, when somebody gets flat-backed or something like that, it makes it a little more personal. There's always the risk of tensions boiling over and fights breaking out, but things were a little testy at times on Wednesday's joint practice, but no big fights. So get ready, game two of the three game preseason coming up Saturday, the Seattle Seahawks. On AM1240 KCVL.
