And we usually cover those later in the show, but this week, Philip sent us some photos that I think are really interesting. He said, "Just spotted what I believe to be a cybercab test vehicle and thought you might have a look." So, what are we looking at here? So, this appears to be a Model 3 refresh with Texas manufacturer plates in the words "engineering vehicle" printed on it, with some heavy modification to the camera system. Whoa, okay, so they added a front nose camera and it looks like they changed out the side repeaters and changed the B-pillar cameras into rear window cameras, and then they changed out the rear camera. So, all of this appears to be very prototypy. I don't think that this is going to be the next Model 3, but could it be preparation for the RoboTaxi? Hmm. All right, well, let's talk about what this is. Now, the fact that it's got manufacturer plates really points to this being Tesla made. Yeah, I mean, it doesn't seem to be some kind of science fair project. Next, the lenses of these cameras look similar enough to the current hardware 4 cameras with that red glint in there, but I will not pretend to know if these are the same cameras or not. Right, I mean, the Highland already has hardware 4, so are they just reorienting the cameras? Well, the nose camera is definitely different and the rear window cameras are pretty strange. Wait, could the rear window cameras be placed for like a different car, like specifically for the Model 2 or the RoboTaxi? You mean they're being placed inboard on the Model 3 because the Model 2 or the RoboTaxi would be smaller? Right, to kind of replicate what those look like, right? I mean, otherwise, why are they being placed there? Well, the only problem with that is that the placement of the rear camera and the windshield camera. Now, I can't see the front windshield camera, but I'm assuming it's in the same place. Now, the geometry theory wouldn't really work if the car were shorter than a Model 3. Basically, if you were bringing in the side cameras, you'd have to bring in all the cameras to make it a smaller vehicle and then how does the wheelbase work? I mean, unless it's the same size. So then what would they be testing? Because there's no way they're going to stick a camera in the window. Right. My guess is that these must be different cameras. I mean, maybe for hardware 5, which Elon is calling AI 5, but he said that was an 18 months. Well, I mean, even if they don't have the AI 5 computer built yet, they still need to test the cameras and I'm assuming they might want to use better ones, maybe not necessarily high resolution, but, you know, some difference that's very nerdy. I mean, wouldn't they just stick with what works? I mean, it seems like once you've got a decent enough camera, you don't want to just keep adding more pixels. Well, they haven't stuck to that logic in the past. I think that they will continue to keep making better and better versions. I mean, this really seems like a camera test vehicle to me because why would they be testing out hardware for cameras if you already had them installed in the car anyway? Right. I mean, this means that hardware 3 and 4 wouldn't be able to do full self driving. I mean, Elon is just reassured everyone that they would, but if your theory is correct and this is hardware 5, then does that mean that all hardware 3 and 4 vehicles won't be able to do full self driving? I'm not saying that just because they're perhaps testing out cameras for hardware 5, that versions 3 and 4 wouldn't be able to do full self driving. I mean, for example, Red Dead Redemption 2 could be played on the PlayStation 4. Okay. Same game. It just has worse graphics than the PlayStation 5. Okay. I mean, so according to Elon, full self driving will work on hardware 3 and 4. Right. But I'm going to go out on a limb and say that hardware 5, AI 5, is going to be able to drive better than hardware 3 and 4. No, that makes sense. It's just a weird thing to think about at the moment since none of these hardware versions can fully self drive yet with like level 5 autonomy. But obviously we'll hear more about this on October 10th at just what an interesting what an interesting looking vehicle. Yeah. I mean, if you're in Texas and you happen to spot this driving along and you have some theories and maybe closer up photos or something, let us know so we can all figure this out together. So Tesla's latest safety report has come out and Tesla says that Tesla's driven using autopilot experience one accident per 6.88 million miles driven. Now compare that to one accident for every 670,000 miles driven by the average American. Wait, that's 10 times safer. Yep. So here is a chart that we made to show the trends green at the bottom is the average US driver in one accident per mile, right? So you can see that there you go one accident for every 670,000 miles. It stayed pretty flat, but as you can see, it has gotten a little bit safer over the years over the past six years, we've gone from one accident per 481,000 miles to one accident per 670,000 miles. Now what's the orange that's Tesla's driven without active safety features on currently one accident per 1.45 miles driven by a Tesla without any safety features. So that's two times safer than the average US driver, right? We don't know why that is. It could be the Tesla drivers are safer. No, no, no, it's because Tesla's drive better. It's because their center of gravity is lower and more to the center of the car. So you're going to end up with less of those, you know, when people start swinging around because that big heavy engine is a really good point. Like, I mean, like we've all experienced getting on a highway and having that extra power you need to merge into some weird way or, you know, breaking is awesome. So I agree with you. Yeah. Yeah. Red is a stat. The Tesla seems to have dropped used to be Tesla's driven with active safety features like automatic emergency breaking, but they stopped doing data for it. So I don't know what the data is. Okay. So the blue line is Tesla's driven with autopilot. Yes. It's actually an accident for every 6.88 million miles or over 10 times safer than the average US driver. And as you can see, the trend is going up as autopilot gets better. Tesla also publishes fire data. You can see that the average US car drives 18 million miles before a fire. Now this is versus a Tesla, which drives on average over 130 million miles before a fire. So that's over seven times safer or seven times less likely to catch on fire than your average car. Yes. And so the next time someone's talking to you about a early catch on fire or not safe, they're seven times less likely to be on fire than your average car. It's just that when a Toyota Corolla catches on fire, it doesn't make the news today in the news. Unbelievable. Bob, there's a Toyota Corolla that would caught on fire on the freeway today. Yes. Unbelievable. Bringing you this unique story, no, it happens every day. And if they talked about it every day, you'd say the news is boring. Exactly. They'd have to lump it in by the hundred. Case in point, most people in the world, this next sentence makes absolutely no sense. FSD 12.5 is coming to Hw3. Now we know that that means that full self-driving software version 12.5 will be available for Tesla cars with the third version of the AI driving computer. But when? Well Elon just answered Homar's catalog. Homar's catalog said, "Hi Elon, lots of AI3 customers wondering if the latest full self-driving 12.5.1.3 will be available for AI3 soon as you mentioned the team was targeting." And Elon said, "The team is working on it, this will be a different release number." And so to translate, probably not coming out this week as many had hoped, seems like the team needs a bit more time. Yeah, as Elon has said, it takes considerable software effort to optimize the code enough to run on hardware 3. It also needs to be validated separately. And so a different release number means that they are likely splitting off the software builds now between cars with hardware 3 and cars with hardware 4. So we were able to go out for a long drive in 12.5.1 a couple days ago and we'll be releasing that drive later this week on Now You Know so you can see how it handled. Now I've just got to say, this is the best version yet. So we were driving in chill and it drove chill. And then in assertive, it was assertive. It felt to me like when you go for a ride in a cab or an Uber and the driver doesn't always do what you would have done yourself, but then you get your destination safely. Yeah, it was really impressive. It just seemed to handle everything really well. Yeah, I don't think officially we had to take it out for anything other than like changing directions and stuff like that. I think it maybe made one bad decision when it turned onto a road that was blocked. But we don't know if it would have gotten itself out of that trouble because we kind of took it out. Yep. Tesla's announced a three year subscription bundle for the Model S and X. Okay, so what's in the bundle and how much does it cost? The bundle is full self driving supervised, free supercharging and premium connectivity for three years for $5,000. Hmm, $5,000. Is that a good deal? Well let's break it down. Full self driving monthly is $99 a month. So for three years that would be $3,564. Premium connectivity is $9.99 a month. So for three years that would be $360. Okay, so so far that equals $3,924. And the rest would be for supercharging. So if you plan on supercharging more than $30 a month and you want premium connectivity and full self driving, then maybe it makes sense for you. Wait, so you only get $30 worth of supercharging a month? No, you get unlimited supercharging. It's just that if you- Oh, I see. If I spend more than 30 on average, I'm doing better. Like I should, then this is a better deal. Now do you think they'll make a similar bundle for Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck owners? I think that they won't. I think that they understand that Model S and X owners are people that have more money and that's why they bought the more expensive car and that they're humble. Cybertruck? Right. Most expensive car. Right. I think at the moment. I think it's- I don't know. It feels- I mean, this is kind of a weird thing to bundle. I don't know why they're bundling it. Is it the kind of thing where people don't end up using as much supercharging as they think they'd use so that Tesla comes out ahead? I don't know. Or do they need cash up front? I mean, the other thing could be that like if full self driving becomes really valuable coming soon. Oh, you would have locked in for three years. You may have locked in for three years, but then every day that it doesn't come out, you'd be kind of kicking yourself going like I'm stuck with a beta version of it. Yeah. But I mean, FSC supervised now is pretty damn good. It is pretty good. Yeah. Now, I saw that this is not available to commercial users like Uber drivers and that makes sense. Right. You wouldn't want to give them unlimited supercharging. Right. Let us know down below if you guys think this is the deal for you and whether you think it's going to come to the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. The quick silver color was introduced in Europe and Asia and made available on Model Y's in the US earlier this year. Now Tesla has started offering quick silver for Model 3 in the US as well. Quick silver is an extra $2,000 making quick silver and ultra red, the two most expensive paint options available. By the way, stealth gray is still the included paint color at the moment. You may have remembered from days of your that it was white and then it was black, but now it's stealth gray, which is not the same as quick silver. I really like quick silver. Yeah. We saw it the other day in the wild. It looks stellar. And in person, it does not get captured on screen as well as it does in a young person. See it in real life. Yeah. Those different shades. It's light. Nice stuff. My goodness. So it's taken years, but finally it appears that Tesla has won an important battle in the state of Kentucky. Kentucky has fought Tesla for years using antiquated dealership laws to keep Tesla from being able to lease vehicles and to keep Teslas from being serviced in the state. Well now according to the Tesla owners of Kentucky, we learn that Tesla has received an official sales license. Yeah. And if we scroll down to page 68 of Kentucky's motor vehicle commission dealer list, we find Tesla. And number 559824056 at 11701 Gateworth Way in Louisville. So this is great news for Kentucky and Kentucky and for the creation of more jobs in Kentucky, by the way, because if you look at Tesla's career page, they're actually looking for a lot of sales associates and technicians in Kentucky now because of this. And Kentucky currently has 16 superchargers who wouldn't be surprised if that number starts going up as more people in Kentucky find it easier to buy a Tesla. And it's nice to have positive stories, right? How about this one? The Gigatrain has debuted. Thomas is a tank engine who lives at a big station on the island of Sodor. No, not that train. This train. The Gigatrain is a battery electric shuttle train running from the Erkner station to the Tesla Sud station at Gigabirlin. So the 500 seat train took its first trip last week. It is designed to carry 4,500 employees to and from Gigabirlin every day. Oh, and did we mention that the Gigatrain is free to all passengers? When the train's operator NEB says that it will eventually be replacing all of its existing diesel fleet with 31 electric and 7 hydrogen units. Now that route doesn't look long enough though, it's only like 10 minutes. Right, right now there's construction going on and so when that's done, the route will be extended another 30 kilometers to go all the way into Berlin. So the Lichtenberg station after the construction is completed. Nice. Yeah. All right, it's time for the Cybertruck Roundup. Yee-haw! The Cybertruck Roundup. Well, this is exciting. If you've been waiting to get a Cybertruck and you've got the budget for it, Tesla has just opened the Cybertruck Foundation series up for orders. Wait, so you no longer need a reservation to order a Cybertruck? Yes. Tesla's website says deliveries will be September for the dual motor, all-wheel drive, and December for the tri-motor Cybertbeast. Rav sent us this email that he got from Tesla. Wait, so I just... Hold on. Hang on. Hold up. Wait a minute. So when you meet someone and they're like, "Oh, it's going to take me three years to get my Cybert... If you wanted to buy it right now." If you want a foundation series, if you want a foundation series, which is more expensive, you can order it and get it as soon as September. But if you have an existing reservation for a Cybertruck and you didn't want to get the foundation series because it's so expensive, we recommend that you keep that reservation for when Tesla starts making the regular versions of Cybertruck because they will likely go back to that list to determine who gets their vehicle next. Yeah, I mean, my guess is that Tesla is trying to squeeze as much margin as possible out of the foundation series before making the cheaper versions of the truck. Yeah, because it was a $20,000 surcharge basically to get the foundation series. Right, and I think a lot of people are patiently waiting for the more affordable versions, and I think over time, Tesla will be able to lower that price as well. What will you do? Wait. Now to our patient Canadian viewers, behold, Tesla has now opened Cybertruck orders in Canada as well. Cybertruck starts at $137,990 Canadian dollars in Canada for the two motor all-wheel drive foundation series version. The cyber beast is listed at $165,990 Canadian dollars. Why is it so expensive in Canada? I mean, the all-wheel drive is about $100,000 in the US. Well, it appears that the Cybertruck is subject to a 20% luxury tax and a 15% sales tax in Canada. So, ouch. Yeah, Tesla says they expect deliveries in October. So I wonder if the luxury tax will go away when the regular Cybertruck starts selling. I mean, the cut-off for a luxury tax in Canada is $100,000. Wait, this just in. Tesla has worked their magic, and the Cybertruck is now luxury tax-free in Canada, saving $13,700 Canadian off the sticker price of the beast and $8,100 Canadian off the price of the all-wheel drive version. How did Tesla get around the luxury tax? Well, one of the criteria for Canada's luxury tax is that the vehicle must have a gross weight of 3,856 kilograms or less, and the Cybertruck weighs more than 4,000 kilograms. Yes, it does. Heavy boy! Wait wins! It ain't luxury, it's just heavy. Bigger is better. Yeah, so Canadians, if you get the Cybertruck and you don't have to pay the luxury tax, please let us know that we're right about this because that would save a lot of people some money. Nice. So it was bound to happen sooner or later, although it's sad to have to report it. It appears that the Cybertruck has had its first fatality. Yeah, on August 5th, just after 1.45 am on Cedar Parkway in Chambers County, Texas, in the Baytown area, a Cybertruck went off the road and crashed into a concrete culvert, and went up in flames, killing the driver. So no word yet on the cause of the accident. NHTSA is saying that it will be investigating. And of course, if you're going to wrap a Cybertruck, you're going to find a Trump rap Cybertruck that is out there in the world. Many of you sent that to me this week. And love them or hate them, Elon just sent Tucker Carlson a Cybertruck to review up in Maine. It was actually a good video. Some folks from Maine who normally drive Silverados and F-350's got to experience the Cybertruck for a couple of weeks, and the reviews were very favorable. And I just want to point out, this is free advertising to millions of viewers because Elon was willing to send them a truck. And they drove it pretty damn hard. So Everill, who is in the Marine Corps, sent this to us, he said, "My buddy and I were arguing about EVs on our way to his hotel when we saw the Cybertruck pull by us in the heat of the argument." It was as if the truck heard us talking about it. Please pardon my cursing, but I was excited, and this is the first Tesla Cybertruck that I've ever seen in person. All of this took place in North Carolina as we were leaving base. The second video, the truck at the light, was taken the day after, so I saw two Cybertrucks in North Carolina on a Marine Corps base in two days. And he basically said that yeah, the Cybertruck pretty much ended the debate, and he kind of won that one with his buddy. So good job Cybertruck and good job Everill. So far, Tesla has opened up more than 15,000 of its North American supercharger stalls to non-Tesla EVs, including Ford and Rivian. We've made videos where we tested our Rivian R1T in Ford F-150 Lightning, supercharging, and they worked really well, aside from the fact that both of them take up two spaces. Now last week, Tesla updated its official charging for all NACs page to show that Nissan is now on the coming soon list, along with GM, Volvo, Polestar, and Mercedes-Benz. So let's get ready to see some leaf scenarios! Can the leaf even supercharge? I don't think so. Maybe the newest ones can, but don't they just charge at 50 kilowatts? Uh, yes, and I think most, I forget if they have Chatham or not. I mean, the older ones had Chatham-O, but I wasn't really paying that close attention to the new one. So I mean, I guess technically if you had a Chatham-O adapter, it might work. Let us know in the comments. I really don't know. Yeah. And I just wonder if this is going to be even a meaningful number of cars that's, I mean, I don't even think it's going to bother Tesla owners because there's not that many of them out there. I mean, there are a lot of leaves, but I don't think that they're, I mean, if it is Chatham-O, I guess the problem would be that a leaf could sit there for a while. Although their batteries are so small, it probably wouldn't take that long. Yeah. I mean, hey, you know, so it's fast charger. Yeah. It says that the ARIA will be adding the NACS port in 2025. So we often have to look at Tesla's career website to find clues about what Tesla will be doing next. This week, a job posting for business development manager was spotted on Tesla's careers page. It says, "Tesla is seeking a business development manager in Europe to build and maintain customer relationships and plan for Tesla's future semi-truck deployments. This person will regularly meet with prospective European semi-customers to understand their use cases, needs and duty cycles." And Graham Carroll, Tesla's head of Semi's business development in the U.S. recently said, "We're taking steps to bring the Tesla Semi to Europe and I'm looking for someone with industry experience and electrification to help us develop this exciting new market. This is a groundbreaking product that meaningfully advances Tesla's mission, and the team behind it is world-class. Let the wild rumpus begin." Let the wild rumpus begin. That's cool. Amore Sendak. So, this whole time we've been talking about American trucking, and this is going to add to European trucking, but they have about the same numbers. So, this is a big deal. I am not as perfect, I mean, I played a little bit of American truck simulator. I haven't played as much Euro truck simulator. So I'm not sure, in terms of distances, I feel like the Tesla Semi is almost better suited for a European version just because Europe is slightly more populated per unit area. I see. Closer drives. Maybe. Or at least the middle. Have you seen Spain? Spain and France are huge. Yes, they're huge. But I'm just saying, I don't know. Feel like... I don't know. I don't know enough to know if stuff needs to move around on that much. You know what I want to know. On the Autobahn, can trucks go any speed there, too? Or is it only like BMWs? I don't know. All right, so you may have already heard by now that Elon is now taking on the Global Alliance for Responsible Media or GARM in a lawsuit. There's been a lot of confusion and misinformation in the mainstream media about this lawsuit. We thought we'd try to go to first sources as much as possible to clear some things up. So as Linda Gacareno, the CEO X said, "After a career in media and advertising, I thought I had seen everything. Then I read the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee's report entitled GARM's GARM last month. The report disclosed that the investigation had found evidence of an illegal boycott against many companies, including X. As their report found, evidence obtained by the committee shows that GARM and its members directly organize boycotts and use other indirect tactics to target disfavored platforms, content creators, and news organizations in an effort to demonetize and, in effect, limit certain choices for consumers. That is why today, X has filed an antitrust lawsuit against GARM, the World Federation of Advertisers and GARM members CVS Health, Mars, Orsted, and Unilever. This is not a decision we took lightly, but it is a direct consequence of their actions. The illegal behavior of these organizations and their executives cost X billions of dollars. Hey, everybody. I was shocked by the evidence uncovered by the House Judiciary Committee that a group of companies organized a systematic illegal boycott against X. It is just wrong, and that is why we are taking action. Today, we filed an antitrust lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media, four of its key members and the World Federation of Advertisers. These organizations targeted our company and you, our users. The evidence and facts are on our side. They conspire to boycott X, which threatens our ability to thrive in the future. And then Elon posted, I strongly encourage any company who has been systematically boycotted by advertisers to file a lawsuit. They may also be criminally liable via the Rico Act. The CEO of Rumble, Chris Pavlowski, said Google just found out that they can't rig the search market to exclude their competitors anymore, and soon a cabal of advertisers and agencies will find out that they can't arbitrarily engineer a boycott of Rumble and X. We've joined X to sue them, and we'll see them in court. Elon said, we tried being nice for two years and got nothing but empty words. Now it is war. Edward Lu says, can't say this enough. Elon Musk's menace to democracy is intolerable. He's using the largest and most influential platform in the democratic world to stoke racial conflict and civil breakdown in his own posts and what X promotes. Democracies can no longer ignore this. And Ian Miles Chong says, this is an editor of the Financial Times. He's calling on Western government's democracies to crack down on both X and Elon Musk because he does not like Musk's political opinions. All the while, he enjoys the benefits of the platform by having a massive audience. You don't hate journalists enough. Elon said, the same legacy media dingbats who lied repeatedly, claiming that X and Twitter is dying, are now saying that it's the largest and most influential platform. Laughing emojis. The real crime here is that my side's hurt from laughing at all the irony. Listen Ed, if you want to refute something, it's easy to do on this platform, unlike the trip you publish in your legacy paper. Anyone on say he doesn't like competing with the truth will add him to the lawsuit. This platform provides a clear and immediate way to refute anything false in the replies and with community notes. The same is not true for legacy media who lie relentlessly, but there is no way to counter their propaganda. And I guess that just the mention of a lawsuit that would have had discovery was enough to shut down Garm. Now, I think a lot of people don't understand what just happened. They believe what CNN business told them, Elon Musk's ex just sued a nonprofit advertising group out of existence. Look, anyone with $400 can file a lawsuit. I'm not a lawyer, but in my opinion, it was the fear of discovery that caused Garm to shut down. They knew that during the course of the trial, they would have to reveal the details of the collusion and they didn't want that. So we should be applauding Elon for exposing these bastards. I for one don't want to live in a world where big corporations collude to control the narrative. They were trying to drive ex and rumble out of existence because ex and rumble are supporting free speech. Free speech means that journalists can report on the truth of what's going on in the world without being censored. Now is everything on these platforms automatically true? No, of course not, but ex has developed community notes. That works really well at correcting things that are said that aren't true. Is it perfect? No, but having been on ex now since Elon bought it, I can tell you that it is far superior to the news that you're getting from mainstream media. You have to work harder to get it. But for me, I'd rather work a bit harder and know that I'm getting as close to the truth as possible rather than just getting what the big corporations would like me to believe is true, just shoveled into my face. So this is why Elon bought acts, right? He is seeking the truth. You can believe what you want because I know it's hard to face unpleasant truths. But it's clear to me that those who are lined against Elon, whether it's big auto, big oil, big space, big internet, big media, they are fighting him because they're scared that they're about to be disrupted disruption. So I mean, I know it's hard for like a single person to dissolve outside of using like a very highly corrosive acid. But I'm just saying that. I think it's so that they can say we're no longer part of that group, but yeah, it's all going to come out in the lawsuit. Yeah. Okay. So it's still going to get the discovery as long as you keep the lawsuit, they're going to be like, oh, but that was just a thing that we did in the past. Right. Okay. Uber CEO Dara Koshoshari was in the news this week doubting Tesla's robo-taxi on the Logan Bartlett show, spawning dozens of headlines from the FUD machine. But hey, let's hear what he has to say. Everybody on a daily basis, 100 to 120 people dying every day as a result of accidents. So if you get into a situation where you have robot drivers that are 10 times better than human drivers, on a good day, robot drivers would be responsible for five fatalities versus a bad day when they'd be responsible for 20 fatalities. And that's unacceptable, I think, to society, right? And those are robot drivers that are 10 times better than human drivers. And I just think that society accepts human fallibility quite readily but definitely does not accept, call it, robot or companies making mistakes, et cetera. There's a much, much higher bar. So logic would dictate that if robots are twice as good a driver or three times as good a driver as humans, that's good for society going forward. But I honestly don't know if society's ready to accept that. Wow. I think society accepts human fallibility quite readily. I guess he's never met a grieving mother of a child lost in a car accident before. Or maybe he doesn't know that people go to prison for manslaughter in a car accident? Yeah, I mean, we don't accept human fallibility quite readily. His example of 10 times safer robotaxis is exactly where regulators would step in and practically make them mandatory. Just for some context, seat belts reduce your risk of death by 50% in the case of an accident. It took less than 10 years from seat belts being installed in the first cars in the late 1950s, to them being mandatory in all vehicles, excluding buses by 1968 in the United States. So that's a 50% decrease in the chance of death if you're wearing one. And his own example of robotaxis, that would be a 90% decrease in chance of death. And he's saying that we might not even adopt that at all. Yeah. Well, and he's using an example that is, there is no example of, he says that when we think of robots and I'm like, there are no robots now. He's robots and then he put corporations in the place of robots. He's like, we don't accept death from corporations of like, we don't accept death from- I'm sorry, yes, we do, we do, Boeing is still a company, sorry. Were we upset about it? Yes, but their planes used to not fall out of the sky. And now they do. It's not like Boeing was like, hey, everybody, we know that all these planes keep falling out of the sky and we've made a safer plane and everyone would have gone, yay. And then all of a sudden their planes are like, oh, oh no, our planes are falling out of the sky. We had made plane travel safe since like the 60s and now it has gotten worse. That is why we are mad at these companies. It's so stupid. And so is this guy just a moron? Well, he's the CEO of Uber. So let's listen to some more of his other points. And listen, it's also not clear to me that the average person, you know, Tesla owner or owner of any other car is going to want to have that car be ridden in by a complete stranger. Mother f***, that's your whole business model. You were able to convince 5 million people to drive complete strangers around. And that was last year. They had 3.9 million drivers in 2020. That's more than the population of Connecticut driving complete strangers around the world in the middle of a pandemic. Oh, he goes on. It just so happens to that probably the times at which you're going to want your Tesla are probably going to be the same times that ridership is going to be at a peak, right? So dumb. It's brilliant. How? It's just dumb. How does he get to make this argument again? That is his whole business. Right. I mean, his own arguments against robo taxis are the exact same arguments you could lob against Uber. And yet, Uber has become a success. So why is he so negative? Well, he isn't an expert on the subject. He's the CEO of Uber. He can't let investors hear that Tesla is going to succeed and be the only player in the robo taxi future because that would mean the Tesla is going to come eat their lunch. Oh, so that's why he says things like this, you know, we've had to learn to build out a system that's able to make the everything work for both the rider and the driver with economics at work. It's taken us 15 years has taken us tens of billions of dollars of capital and we can provide that instantly to a partner. And you know, hopefully Tesla will be one of those partners. You never know. I'm sorry. They took 15 years and billions of dollars to figure out how to get the relationship between the driver and the car correct when we don't need the driver anymore. And it used to. Here's the relationship used to be. Taxi. That's all. I'm sorry. It took billions of dollars to go. Taxi. Yeah. I mean, he keeps talking about the infrastructure that they built. I'm like, you didn't build the cars. You didn't make the drivers. You didn't make the roads. You didn't make the customers. You built a little app. That's great. It's a great app. You built a little app. You screwed over taxi drivers. You, I mean, oh, for the sake of a cheaper ride, I mean, that's fine. And the other thing is he makes it sound like they went into each town and city and had a nice dialogue and discussion. No, you just dumped your app in each city and town and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. But that's not, I mean, sometimes they decided that it was illegal and then they put a bunch of stipulations on you. If you want to operate in our city, you're going to have to do this or that. And he makes it sound like, oh, that's a hard thing to do. It's like, no, you made it hard on yourself because you, I mean, he didn't do that. Uber did. He started in 2017. He's not even the founder of the company. He's acting like he invented taxis. Yeah. And by the way, Tesla's never going to work with Uber because Tesla even has it in their agreement that you can't use any other network, but their network. There's another part of this interview where he goes like, you know, we only take 20%. And so the driver can keep the other 80%. And then, you know, well, it also goes to insurance. I'm like, yeah, it goes to insurance and gas and tires and the engine. Right. They don't get to keep it. They don't get to keep 80%. I just think that's funny because he wants to continue to keep the 20% when he hands it off to an AV partner, which again, like, oh, I guess if nobody could figure out how to make an app. Tesla's already made the app. We've already seen screenshots of it. So goodbye. Goodbye, Uber. I know, man. And what I think is crazy is that the Logan Bartlett show, he has 40,000 subscribers, which is great. I think his show is awesome. This particular show has about 6,000 views right now, 6,000 views. And it's getting posted on Giant National. Right. How did they hear about this? Right. How did they? I mean, obviously it's the CEO of Uber and good on Logan for getting him on a podcast. But like, really, press releases went out. They said, oh, oh, he says the Tesla is dumb. We're going to print that story. Sounds good. That's going on the front page there, Bob, funny, fun, fun, fun. Also, why does Dara look like he's Mickey Mouse? Did they do that on purpose? I'm Eli Bernier, host, and we've got a lot to talk about this week. So SpaceX has unveiled the Raptor 3 engine, and it is a thing of beauty. Looking at where it's come in development since Raptor 1, with its mass of tubes now largely 3D printed inside the engine's body, this looks like something out of a video game. Or even a science fiction movie. And funny enough, the visual presence of the Raptor 3 was so unbelievable that Tony Bruno of ULA jumped in and left this comment. He said in a tweet, and I quote, "They have done an excellent job making the assembly simpler and more producible. So there is no need to exaggerate this by showing a partially assembled engine without its controllers, fluid management, or TCV systems, and then comparing it to a fully assembled engines that do." So where Tori was incorrect is that this is not a partially assembled engine, and it led to this fired back clap back response from Gwen Shotwell. Works pretty good for a partially assembled engine. If there's any takeaway from this story, it is that don't start a fight with the Queen of Rockets, the mother, the true mother of dragons, you will lose. In other news, NASA is exploring industry partner interest in using the cancelled NASA Viper lunar rover. On July 17th, NASA announced its intent to discontinue the Viper project and instead use alternate methods for exploring and verifying the presence of ice on the lunar South Pole. And now the agency has opened up a request for information which seeks to learn more about how interested parties would use Viper at minimal or no cost to the government. Last but not least, the US Space Force has initiated a new phase in its mid-Earth orbit missile defense program. The space systems command on August 9th released a request for prototype proposals, inviting vendors to submit designs for a satellite known as Missile Track Custody Epoch 2, marking the second phase of the Space Force program to develop a missile tracking network in medium-Earth orbit. Part of the reality of space is it's going to include surveillance and defense systems. And this isn't something to be alarmed about, especially when these satellites are really only capable of providing defensive capabilities. The militarization of space is something to be concerned about. But so long as nation-states stick to just surveillance and defensive systems, then we don't need to be worried about Skynet raining down fire upon us. Well guys, that's all for this week. The Polaris Dawn mission has now been scheduled for August 26th, just a few weeks away. This is the mission where four crew members led by Commander Jared Isaacman, Pilot Scott Poteet, and mission specialists Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon, both of whom are SpaceX engineers, will orbit Earth at an altitude of 870 miles that's 1400 kilometers and take the crew farther from Earth than any mission since the Apollo era. This mission will also include the first-ever private spacewalk at an altitude of 700 kilometers. Yeah, they're coming back down to that for the spacewalk. I'm Elon posted that Raptor 3, first firing today, and he said the parts that appear white are actually black but covered in ice. Alex says news. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Education, Ghani Bismbaya, reported that Starlink now offers its services in 1731 out of 1879 schools in the country. The minister added that Starlink has set a new standard for internet services in Kazakhstan's schools. And by the way, that is up from just 50 schools a month and a half ago. Wow. Elon said cool. Alex then says for unknown reasons Boeing had removed Starliner's autonomous undocking feature from its flight control code. Now Boeing wants to push a software update to its crippled spacecraft, but NASA fears it could brick one of the two crewed vehicle docking ports on the ISS. Looking at the replies, a lot of people don't understand the conundrum with this situation. A, if NASA returns the crew on Starliner, Starliner will be undocked by current flight software and crew from the ISS, but there's a risk that the crew won't make it home. B, if NASA returns the crew on Dragon, the crew comes home safely, but there's a risk that Starliner will never be able to undock autonomously with the updated flight software alone, meaning there is a risk to all current and future astronauts going to the ISS with the loss of one of the only two docking ports. And Elon said, tough situation. So it's almost like you shouldn't send up and on tested, uh, I it's it's as if. Oh my God, Boeing and just a reminder, they were supposed to be in space for eight days, those poor astronauts, but now it has been 65 days. And Tony says, why is there not more media attention to this debacle? I have a hunch that if the companies involved were in the reverse positions, SpaceX in trouble with Boeing coming to the rescue, this would be the leading news story every day. And Elon said true. And then Elon posted this so many super heavy boosters. He ever says very soon the fifth launch of the Starship, a little reminder of the last launch, SpaceX video, so much emotion. If you're a cyber truck owner, if you want to park your car and you want it to stand out even more than it already does, what you do is you pull in, you put it in off-road mode, you pick your height. Now, don't leave it in off-road mode because off-road mode, I guess they're expecting you to get out of your car and then get back in your car. So we won't lock the car. So what you're going to want to do is get it to the height that you want using off-road mode. Then go to Dynamics in the menu and then change it back to any of the other settings, not off-road mode. That will allow you to close the door. Everything will lock and you'll have your cyber truck parked. And then you need to bring a ladder back to it together. It's just off of the TransCanada Highway and easy to access. And not much for food, but there is a Burger King behind me. And a small strip ball there with the safe, weighty, washrooms and other amenities that you may need. So anyways, talk about it. You should want to give this about a 7 out of 10. Now you know. Well, Zach and Jesse, this is the Steel Alabama supercharger. As you can see, there are about eight chargers. The only amenity is here.
